I was pleasantly surprised by this dive bar. Though my expectations were not that high (based on location and the interior decorating ( :), they made an above average turkey avocado wrap. It was better than the typical sandwich that I would normally grab at Ingredients in my building. It was nothing to write home to mom and dad about, but I will definitely be back for a quick and cheap lunch!

One of my favorite bars all time, and i have been to a few in my day. First, a little background. This bar is literally in an Alley. The first time I went there, I passed by a homeless woman pooping behind the dumpster that is alway at the entrance to said alley. Being undaunted since I am a native of Detroit, I proceeded straight ahead to the well lit sign half way down the alley and entered dive bar perfection. O'malley's smells just a little. Not enough that you want to leave, but it ain't roses either. Doesn't matter. This bar is staffed by the best professional bartenders I have ever seen. I bartended for years and this is the main reason why I keep coming back. Hal not only knows what I drink, but when we came in on New Years Eve, he remembered that we had not been there since May. Keep in mind that I have been to this place less than a dozen times in my life. The food is above average bar food, the beer selection is above average for the setting, the cell phone service is non existant due to the location, but the service and the overall atmosphere and comraderie inside makes this a place worth coming back to again and again. Also, my wife wanted me to mention that he internet jukebox has every Journey song ever recorded. Good luck getting them to play it since Hal loads it up with Widespread Panic on an hourly basis. Fast forward to 2/2013. O'Malley's was purchased by someone who apparently believes that they don't own a back alley bar in Cincinnati. The staff who made this place great have been let go and are now at another bar in town (Plum Street Café). Whatever genius who bought the place and gave it a hundred thousand dollar facelift has apparently not subscribed to the school of thought that if you have a successful bar business, don't mess with the clientele in order to go after a better clientele. This is especially true when you clientele is mostly regulars and your bar is located in A BACK ALLEY.

Before I moved to the US, I had never heard of "dive bars". I then visited one and still wasn't exactly sure what it meant. Now that I've been to O'Malleys in the Alley I know. It's a dark place with cheap, good drinks, where you don't need to worry about how you look. You can just be yourself, no matter how loud that turns out to be. We were with a big Yelp group and there were enough tables for all of us. It didn't matter how loud or stupid we were, it somehow all fitted perfectly together in this dive bar. I didn't eat, but the Merlot was ok (it's Merlot, it's always going to be just ok) - they did give me a huge glass, no complaints there! And I definitely liked the peanuts and the fact that you can just throw them on the ground. That didn't help when one of us lost her earring and we were searching but could only see peanut shells, but other than that it's a great idea! Definitely a great place for late night drinks

Something you'd expect in a movie, but instead its here in Cincinnati and it is definitely in an alley! Its worth a visit from locals and tourists! Its awesome! Imagine walking into narrow, aged bar, everyone looking up with an energetic wave of greetings. I am guessing this bar has been serving patrons under one name or another since before cars were invented. The nostalgic feel runs through every part of the experience. You have to be willing to shed the status symbols of the day and be ready to engage folks face to face because in this tight space, blackberry's are worthless and a hearty handshake is worth its weight in beer.

I love a good dive bar, especially one downtown! I discovered this little bar during Santacon and promised myself I would be back. This bar is very anti-downtown. There is nothing ritzy or trendy about it. It is dark, has low ceilings, and has a clientele above the age of 30. Though it is very low lit and everything just feels a touch old... but that is O'Malley's charm. It is clean and well-cared-for. During Santacon, the place was packed to the gills with drunk Santas. The bartenders were still quick and pleasant. Beverages are poured strong at reasonable prices. I love the free peanuts that you can help yourself to by the fireplace. We recently went for a meal, which was a slightly disappointing. Our waitress was great, but the meal was only ok. We had a bowl of tomato soup, which was clearly from a can of Campbell's. Their signature smashed sandwiches (think grilled cheese) was fine, but incredibly greasy. Sandwiches come with fries. Prices on food are very reasonable. I intend to go back to O'Malleys again and hope to find the perfect food for a late night drunk meal!

Best dive bar in the history of the world. You never know what you'll get in there. Fill up the jukebox and have a good time!

I turned 21 nearly a month ago and I've already gone to this place too many times to count. No I'm not an alcoholic, it's just where everybody goes after work. In other words, it's definitely a locals hangout. Which means it's the place to be! The bartenders are always friendly in O'Malley's and The Blind Pig (Tracy is my fave), good strong drinks for a decent price, and the specials are the bomb. (My friend knows the specials by heart; whether that's a good thing remains to be seen.) The Blind Pig and O'Malleys are connected, so you can take your drinks from one area to the other, but you CANNOT take one tab to the other. If you order your first drink at O'Malley's and decide to head down to the patio to sit, you'll have to walk back up the ramp to order another drink or open a new tab at The Blind Pig. Not the biggest deal, but it can definitely irk some people. Also, there's no such thing as "servers". I've seen multiple complaints in reviews about them not coming to you, but when it's packed and they're serving $2 beers and Fireball, do you really have to be so anal? Just walk up to the bar and order your drink. It'll help you walk off some of the alcohol anyway. I've never eaten here, but you don't really come here to eat. You come to have a strong drink, hang out with friends, and have some banter with the bartenders. And it's a damn good time.

I love O'Malley's. If you go in for lunch, keep on walking to the back, where the Blind Pig is now attached. Alexa is the waitress/bartender in the back, and she's fantastic. She remembers our order and talks to us like old friends. Their grilled cheese/tomato soup and their O'Malley's Pub Favorite are my favorites. It's simple bar food in a welcoming and comfortable environment. And you really can't beat that. Just steer clear on Opening Day or on gamedays in the evening. It gets hectic.

Literally a whole in the wall! Not exactly my scene but people like I suppose. Food looks rather mediocre but not to bad of prices.

Bad vibes here. Seems like the owner is a little unstable. Observed illegal drugs in bathroom and management got upset with me when I reported it. Definitely not going back here.

O Malleys is an Irish pub located in Downtown Cincinnati. Went to Cincinnati for a Reds game. Found this place on yelp. At first we couldn't find it because it was literally hidden in the alley. It seemed a little creepy walking through it even though it wasn't that long or that bad. Went inside and it looked like a typical bar. The bar had that old feeling to it which was pretty cool. They have high tables up front and booths in the back. They have a place to play music and a popcorn machine which is self serve. The waitress was super nice and very chatty even though they were busy and it was loud. They have a pretty good draft beer selection and other alcohol as well. The menu consisted of sandwiches, nachos, pretzels, wings, etc. I ordered the o malleys pub favorite which is a hot and ham and cheese sandwich with honey mustard on the side. The French fries are good just a little on the garlicky side. The soft pretzels are also pretty amazing especially with the queso dip. The coolest thing about this place is that it is the second oldest in the city so it has history which I love. Their is also another restaurant /bar that connects with o malleys so you can walk though that place as well.

Really liked this place. Hole in the wall, great bartender named Tracy. $3 beer. Great bar food. it's a little small and you're not going to meet someone to hook up with or anything, but it's a nice place.

One of the best Reds bars in town. I was worried when they sold the business that it wouldn't maintain it's charm as a dive bar, but I was wrong. They added a ton of charm to it in fact as well some great new menu items (California Club is my favorite, but smashers are also fantastic). With courteous staff and a great selection, O'Malleys in the Alley will continue to be one of my favorite spots to hit before or after a Reds game!

  • Rachel K.

The bar service is pretty good. Each time I have been there it's been packed which is great, and the bartenders do their best to keep up with the crowd. It is hard though to find a table or space to sit, so be prepared to stand.

  • Adam B.

How can anyone dislike this bar? Its close the stadiums. It's friendly. It's not a tourist trap. Drinks are cheap. It's a win all around. O'Malley was full of Cubs and Reds fans on the Saturday we were visiting, even at 1130am. The bartender was friendly and they did a great job of keeping an eye on us. I plan to be back and my out of town friends said it best "if I lived here, I would drink here a lot"

  • Theresa B.

Wish I could review their drinks or food but since we were ignored when we walked in, I can only review that. It was our first time here so I'm sure we didn't know what the proper procedure was but we sat down at a table and sat there for a good 10 minutes. Employees seemed to walk by and nobody said a word to us so we left. Won't try going back, sorry.

What an awesome Dive Bar/Irish pub! Love the location! This hidden gem is located at 25 Ogden Place in downtown Cincinnati off of Vine Street. O'Malley's in the Alley is Cincinnati's second oldest bar. Very cozy and laid back. Decor is mixed with vintage and new beer signs. We sat at the bar and was waited on immediately. Great selection of beers. My husband got two draft beers and I got a Makers Mark on the rocks and draft beer. The price for that is $27.00 which I thought was alittle steep, but I really enjoyed my time spent. They also have: Full Lunch and Dinner Menu (which I have not tried yet), Takeout Service, Happy Hour from 3-7pm, Drink Specials and Live Bands from time to time. They have seven TVs to catch all the sports action and NFL ticket is on every Sunday. Bathrooms are small yet clean. Bar clean.

If you're from out of town and staying in downtown Cincinnati, you should definitely spend some time at this place. Nice neighborhood feel, great beers on tap and has a more local vibe than places up near the square. I dropped in twice and had some great bar food and the girl behind the bar, Savannah was quick with my Smithwicks and Jamison. Their Pandora station was fantastic both nights and the y also have an Internet jukebox. Oh yeah, they keep a super clean bathroom.

Stopped in after reading some reviews. Great Irish bar, good food and good people. Figured I was gonna stay for an hour or so and ended up staying for much longer. Kim the bartender was a gem! People were friendly and the atmosphere was great!

Tried going for lunch today and it was an awful experience. Waited for 2 wraps for over an hour. Server never stopped by to apologize or refill our drinks. While the new outside section is nice, i suggest only going here for drinks.

Short mini-family days in Cin City. Had a fab day, went to several happy hours, and it's time for dinner. I offered to be the "Nanny" and let others go out, but they wanted the entire group together. We looked at several options and someone said "Let's go to O'Malleys - it's a dive with something for everyone and it's really in an alley. Well...all righty then. Hole in the wall restaurants, particularly in less glamorous parts of town, know how to put out good food I think to myself. Hopefully this isn't another "lets get her to squirm" deal. So in we head...five year old in tow. They didn't bat an eye. My son was amazed, cause he had only been here on game days, and the floor was clean on a non-game day! Some family members are **ahem** picky eaters and have been for their entire lives. Not me...I eat anything. Especially when I've been drinking. So when other ***picky*** people order it's like "don't even think about putting ranch dressing on my sandwich or a pickle within miles of my plate." They took the pickle thing seriously...none of us got one and I enjoy a good pickle....whatever. But his damn sandwich had Ranch Dressing on it. OMG... So the server comes over, and whisks it away. And he's sure it will come back with a new bun and dressing remains on the meat. Been there, done that. It took about 20 minutes, but he got a sandwich with no sign of wiped off Ranch Dressing. Amazing...as you can tell we've lived this "several" times before. I had ordered Absolute Citrine "up". I should know better in a dive. I got a shot in a shot glass. Still...it was correct as far as the beverage. And damn...my sandwich and chips were good. Or I just needed some solid food. And the check...it was cheap. They didn't even charge us for picky eaters sandwich. I've been in 5 star establishments that screw up and just apologize for it and charge you $150. This was class...in a dive. Who can ask for more than that? I just might have to go back...without picky eater so I'll get a pickle. That will rate 5 starts. See you around town...after dark, of course.

O'Malley's in the alley is that tucked away dive bar that somehow everyone knows about. And if you're in the mood for dark, dirty, cheap and awesome, this is indeed one of the spots to go in Cincinnati - especially if you're downtown. Literally tucked away in an alley, so you know what you're getting into right from the start, this hole in the wall is fantastic. You can grab a drink at the bar and then try to get a table, of which there are more than you'd think for such a small, narrow space. We even were able to grab one on the last St. Patty's Day, and that says something. One of my favorite things about a bar is when they give you peanuts to shell and snack on while drinking your drink - and they've got that here, you better believe. However, unlike a place like Arnold's, where you're supposed to shell into another bowl, here you just throw the shells on the floor like a real American. Disgusting and great. It's always loud in this bar - loud loud. This is not a spot to have an intimate conversation, you most likely will shout across the table just to get a word in over the other people shouting across the table. This is a great spot for a late-night drink. I know you're not supposed to go into alley's after dark, but I'd make an exception for this one.

GREAT BAR!! From the moment we stepped inside we were welcomed with smiles. The bar is a throwback to the old school pubs which we loved. Tracy was our bartender and she was amazing. She remembered our names and drinks and made sure our glasses were never empty. The chef was amazing. A Rastafarian with the best laugh in the world. It's worth your time to get him to come out and say hi. This will be a bar we come back to every time we are in town

O'Malley's is my favorite dive bar in Cincinnati and it is literally in an alley. The staff is friendly, the people are nice and they have a good selection of tap. The sometimes have live music, and is always a fun place to grab some drinks with friends.

This is a great little "dive" bar located in an alley way of downtown Cincinnati. It used to be a dank dirty little space but I love the recent renovations to this place (there's a window in the back, who knew!). If you're in downtown Cincinnati and looking for a nice little dive to duck into and have a seat at the bar then this is a great place to go. There are high top tables upfront and several booths in the back. The food is typical bar food; however, I recommend trying a Smasher. It's a sandwich cooked by hot grill plates on both sides making the cheese and meat inside warm and delicious. One obvious menu item missing is french fries!

If you can find the end of the rainbow than you will be rewarded with the pot of gold that is O'Malley's in the Alley. O'Malley's is a magical place dwelling within a parallel universe that is similar to the city of Cincinnati. It can only be found with the right level of insobriety, as it is located midway along third and a half street, tucked between two ashen towers, unidentifiable by the eyes of common mortals. I have happened upon this mythical place of legends three or four times, typically after sporting events or on holidays that deeply encourage drinking. Even when I stumbled upon it last night, and most people in our party were lost in the shrouds of darkness, unable to locate O'Malley's, it was I the hero Scottimus Prime, who had been drinking the most, who was able to cross the threshold of human existence and lead us on our travels deep into the belly of said beastie. Here we encountered the diminutive one-headed guardian dog of the tavern, Cerberus. Having casually sidestepped his yipping terror, we entered to find a land flowing with milk and honey, a jovial atmosphere akin to that of Valhalla, an endless barrel of peanuts, and bubbling fountains of Smithwick's! Huzzah!

Perfect pre-game dive bar before going to a Reds/Bengals game. I'd seen this sign a million times but had never ventured down the alley to try it out. Fortunately, we went yesterday and loved it. First off, there's nothing fancy about this place and that's the way it's supposed to be. It was happy hour, which meant 50 cents off everything. The drink prices were fair and the bartender was very friendly. They have a large barrel of peanuts and the food coming from the kitchen smelled surprisingly tasty. I'll definitely try it out next time. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised and fully expect to make this a ritual shot-stop on the way to games. Considering we're season ticket holders, O'Malleys might be getting to know our names sooner rather than later. Definitely worth a try but know what to expect so you won't be disappointed.

Cincinnati's best hidden treasure! They remodeled last year and added some TVs. Same dive feel, but slightly more comfortable setting. Bartenders are always friendly and even welcomed 20 wet runners in with a smile last time we were there. Food is good but not great is the only downside.

Came here yesterday after eating dinner at Crave and still had an hour before the Reds game so my buddy and I ventured into O'Malleys in the Alley. The first thing my buddy noticed were the huge curbs. As soon as we entered the thing that shot into my mind was total dive bar, sitting at the bar were guys ranging from 80's to 20's. The bartenders were nice, and the drink prices were fair not cheap but normal. My Sam Adams was $4 and my buddies Captin and Coke was $5.

Great little alley bar!! Feels homey and welcoming and a friendly neighborhood hidden gem type bar! My boyfriend and I were traveling thru Cincinnati (via Megabus) and had a couple hours to spare. Great food and service!! The BLT and veggie dip was perfect! The patrons were friendly and having fun!! Will return next time we pass thru ;)

O'Malleys is kind of our go to staple when we're downtown... or rather when we decide to do something other than what we came down for... "I'm hungry" "Lets go to O'Malleys!" "I just want a cheap beer" "O'Malleys!!" I just want to go sit down someplace warm" Got the hint yet? And then its off down the yellow brick road... or the red one? or... ok it's one of these 2, ok maybe 3 alleys... or that one. OH! There it is! Even if you've been before it doesn't guarentee you can ever find the danged place. But thats part of its charm. That its not going to be packed, and its especially not going to be packed full of hipsters. In fact it'll be semi full of all sorts of people! Young, old, downtown, burbs, you name it. Their food is typical yummy greasy dive bar goodness with a twist. Their specialty by far is the smashers. A panini like sandwhich served with chips and amazing ranch dressing. (seriously turkey and provalone dipped in the ranch, YUM!) They have a shortened menu for major events, but it's still good. For Opening Day they had a HomeRun Sundae. Mashed potatoes, roast beef, gravy and a cherry tomato on top. It was great after a day of drinking. You won't find girly drinks here, unless it's a mixed drink. And their pitchers are $6 or less! Also feel free to help yourself to the giant barrel of peanuts by the firplace. Don't worry, you can throw the shells on the floor. The bathrooms are cramped, but decent.. so you're not going to cram 5 girls in there.

O'Malley's was a combination of narrow and crowded when I ventured there. Very tightly packed and a slightly rude bartender. If I was downtown for a Red's game or event at Sawyer Point, I might consider going back here, but it didn't impress me enough to make the trip back just for the sake of going back.

I will never go back! I moved from Tampa Bay and was looking for a small local Irish bar that I could potentially enjoy as a weekly regular. The bar seats were all taken so my partner and I sat at a high top across from the bar. After sitting there for some time we were finally greeted by being told by the bartender from behind the bar that they "don't have table service" and if we "want anything" we will have to go "to the bar to get it." Keep in mind this place has booths and tables further back in the restaurant, but they "don't have table service"? WTH??? Needless to say we walked out. I am not going to pay someone my bill plus a 20% tip to run my drinks and food myself. I don't want my ass kissed, I just expect basic customer service. If you don't mind being your own server, maybe this place is great. For me, that is unacceptable. If a place is willing to cut corners on service where else are corners being cut? Dirty taps? Filthy kitchen? I hate the thought of it. And don't even tell me crap like, "that's how dive bars work." (Another Yelp user had the audacity to do so) Bitch, please. I've been to dive bars. Not a single one told me I would have to be my own server! Don't patronize me. I have been to numerous dive bars, fine dining places, etc. I have been a regular at numerous said establishments, and even worked in restaurants. Don't like my reviews? Too damn bad. If you work for the place, maybe you should improve your service. Otherwise, butt out!

I stopped by this little out of the way bar in a alley way. I agree with previous descriptions as this place is a trip back in time maybe more like the 70s than 80s. 3.00 cold bottle domestics free peanuts jammin juke box. Great stop before or after game.

We went here after the Cincy Beerfest and had a great time. I have to admit, I'm not a huge fan of the nightlife in the Fountain Square area. I know this may be an overgeneralization, but I've always found places to be a bit...well, let's just say it starts with a "D" and ends with an "ouchy". Let me be clear: Everything about O'Malley's is dive-y. It's dirty and the crowd when I was there was pretty rough. But everyone was having a great time, including us. Additionally, their kitchen is open until 1 am, and two orders of wings at 12:30 am really saved us after many, many hours of drinking beer. I was actually a pretty big fan of the spicy wings - not the traditional Franks-and-butter coating - but then again, that might just be the beer talking. I'll definitely be back to O'Malley's, especially once baseball season starts up. It's in pretty good stumbling difference to GABP and a hell of a lot cheaper.

If you had never heard of this bar then you wouldn't know it even was there. also just because you know of it doesn't mean you can find it. I don't really know how to tell people how to get there because i always forget what alley it is down. It is just this dark hole in the wall bar down a random alley that is great. Once you find it you will be like how could i have never heard of this place before. The food is great for bar food and it is cheap as hell. It has that old time tavern feel with a dive bar twist. It makes a great place to end the night at if you were out partying and needed a place to calm yourself. Don't miss this place if you can find it.

I went here befoe going to a Reds game. We got a couple of beers and a sandwich. The bar tender was very nice and friendly. The sandwich was alright. I got the big ole sandwich which I thought didnt live up to the name. The beer selection was great. The place was just as I would have imagined a bar called O'Malleys In The Alley would have looked like. Dark and small.

We happened upon this bar and it was just what we were looking for. Good music, friendly people, and free peanuts. What else could you want? It's easy to miss so make sure to have your iPhone handy. We passed the alley once before realizing it was actually IN the alley.

Had a burger there yesterday - the burger was really good. They don't have fries - you get a small bag of chips...and it was $8.50 for burger, chips and a soda - kinda expensive. But for a downtown burger - it's good.

Get a smasher! They're good. Love the peanuts and atmosphere of this downtown bar for real people. Not fancy but good and fun.

  • Jennifer G.

O'Malleys in the Alley is my favorite downtown bar, by far. I try to come before or after any Reds games I make it to. O'Malleys is definitely a dive bar, long and narrow with hardwood floors and a tin ceiling. There are random license plates all over the walls, and peanut shells covering the floor. It reminds me of some of my favorite bars in New York because it is so old. I had been coming just to drink and eat the free peanuts for several years, but the other day I finally had the chance to order food. My friend and I both ordered Smashers, which is a 6 in sub (just meat and cheese) that is pressed in a panini. It's so simple, but it was delicious! The cheese was perfectly melted, the sandwich was the perfect crispness, and the ranch they served it with seemed homemade. Go to O'Malleys instead of the Holy Grail if you're down-downtown. Better atmosphere, better food, and much cheaper drinks.

Some may consider it to be a dive bar, but I've always thought it was a great place to go hang out and have a drink.

I don't know anyone who doesn't like cheap drinks. O'Malleys is A-OK for it's location, free popcorn and of course, the cheap drinks. The bartenders aren't as friendly as they used to be. Maybe new ownership has something to do with that? Not sure. But if you're already "3 sheets to the wind" this place is perfect for a last stop, because you won't care one way or the other about service.

Contrary to previous posts there are no peanuts and the fireplace was not real. Popcorn was good staff friendly and helpful.

I hadn't been to O'Malley's since 2005 so imagine my surprise when I find a rather clean and fun bar with a large selection of beers, wines and cocktails- with an AMAZING outdoor patio that overlooks the river and stadiums. Having had the bar set pretty low, I was impressed with the drink options- I got a bottle of sparkling rosé for a reasonable price and the other group members enjoyed craft beers. The female bartender was cool and nice and the seating was impressive. This bar tends to attract casual Cincinnati / Kentuckians alike- so it was an amalgam of patrons that made people watching fun! Will definitely be back especially for baseball season.

One of the best dive bars around! They offer daily specials, happy hour, food and a good ol' time. Besides the really cool people that either work at or patron O'Malley's, one of my favorite things their is their juke box. I love how they have up to date music and even a bunch of oldies. Great music always makes for a great time. This place is pretty small so don't be surprised if you get bumped a few times. Just take it with a grain of salt and enjoy the divey experience.

When I first moved to Cincinnati, O'Malley's was a place of legend. My friend recounted the story of this "bar in an alley", his story started with a ridiculous series of events and his night ended at an unknown alley in a new city. He tried desperately to find this bar again but it was his unicorn. It was only probably one year later that we would find out that this bar was O'Malley's and venture there after a Reds game one fateful evening. O'Malley's is what you would expect from any bar in an alley, it's divey as hell, but it's a place to escape, with great beers and great company. They have peanuts and popcorn and guarantee a good time to all those that seek refuge.

Friendly staff, cold beer, and the Italian smasher is very good! When I am back in Cincy I will return here.

Stopped in yesterday 6/14 for lunch with my girlfriend while in town. Had the nachos, reuben, and smasher as well as a few beers. Great service from the bartender along with great food. Definitely will stop by next time we are in cincinnati

Cool place to hang out! We found this place hidden in an alley hence the name. They have a large selection of beer including one of my favorites - Guinness. We watched the Reds Baseball game and snacked on freshly popped popcorn. It was a Friday night so there wasn't any live Irish music like one would expect in an Irish place but there was a jukebox for you to play your favorite tunes. They had U2 in the jukebox and they are from Ireland so I was good.

This place is fun! If your in downtown Cincy definitely check this place out. Cheap beer, good food, and the staff is very friendly. Stop in during a Bearcats game to get ten dollar buckets of beer during the game. Its a nice dive bar atmosphere a great place to hang out.

This place is cool, for a dive bar. The 3 Stars are for the "not so dive bar pricing!" They can't be off the banks, and charge "BANK prices!!" Right? If they want to compete, they have to give some one a reason to leave the "Hip" scene of the banks. The service was good, but $27 for 3 beers and a Makers was a bit steep. But Hey, someone is paying it. It won't be us next time we are downtown. I like to experiece the Banks every once in a while, but I will hit Madonnas or Knock Back Nats next time I'm in the downtown area

Uncle Dougie gives two thumbs up on this little local gem. Near the typical Cincinnati hotels that people in our industry usually stay at, and close to US Bank center. And a top 5 bar in my pal Tom Bider's list. He was correct, friendly locals, fun pretty, feisty shit giving bartender (in the best sense). Right down the street from Morton's if you want fine dining first.

Amidst the chaos of the bustling city and awful weather I happened to stumble up a hole in the wall bar called O'Malleys years ago. Had I not been trying to find a short cut through an alley to my office on a cold day winter day I would have never found it, which makes it so much better. Walking into bar you literally take a step back in time the place looks like it never left the 80's. The bar is long but really narrow which makes patron mingle and adds to the friendly atmosphere. Without fail I can be found here at least twice a week after work. The prices are very reasonable and the food is great - O'Malley Burger on a pretzel bun with bleu cheese: Yes please! You will have a very tough time finding better bar prices on that side of the city. Look for the Green Door !

Wow... it literally is in an alley... looks shady but its amazing... food great... very small venue... very good prices... ordered half the menu and several beers and whiskeys... and it was with tip 40 out the door... highly recommended

When I say "dive bar", you say "O'Malley's"! "Dive bar!" ... Oh, yes. This dark, dingy Irish Pub is just what the name says, and nothing more. I'm sure that the patrons of O'Malley's have been coming here for years, ringing in the nostalgia and the good times. Ol' blue eyes served us with a twinkle in his eye and a sense of knowing. Frank and funny, he told me the beer I ordered was average. Thanks for the heads up! I ordered the O'Malley's Amber Lager anyway and Blue Eyes was right: average. Gotta love the honesty! No food is served here; just very salty pretzels. You come to O'Malley's for the unassuming nature and warm embrace of all who come. Enjoy conversation, a pint or four, the latest game (apparently English Premier is offered on Sundays), and good times. Say hi to the bartenders, who are more than willing to catch up with you, or make new friends. If I lived in Mount Adams, I'd stop here for my final night cap to end the night with a bang and good feelings. Cheers!

This place is what you make of it. First trip we sat on the patio outside, walked inside and informed the waitress we would be outside. Waited 10 minutes for service that never came. Went to another bar/restaurant. Blatant ineptitude Second Trip went inside and ordered some buckets at the bar for dirt cheap and had a great time. Definitely not the cleanest or nicest bar in the city but it's a bar. In a alley. Nuff said

Was in Cincinnati for thanksgiving. Found this place on yelp and I'm glad I went. I called looking for the Missouri game and the bartender put it on and I ended up staying for hours. Great place with great people. Stop in if you're in the area.

We visited for the first time on New Years Eve. Being that it's most likely the busiest day of the year, they were woefully understaffed. They had one guy working the bar by himself, resulting in 5 or 6 of us standing in line to get any service. It seems to be a popular place and has quite a few regulars. We received a lot of odd stares like we weren't allowed to be in there or something. Or maybe they haven't seen people so beautiful as us. One guy was wearing a table cloth and eventually transformed into a table as the bar got busier. They put out what they called appetizers and put a sign that they weren't to be opened until 8. I think they made them fresh that morning as they were all stale, cold, and disgusting. I think one item might have been breaded breading, we really couldn't tell what it was. It's hard to complain about free, but I think it would have been better if they microwaved pizza rolls. Everyone says it's a hole in the wall bar, but the prices are inline with all the other places. We left after two very expensive rounds. When I got home, I let some farts out of my alley.

The food was good. The drinks were good. The service was good. No problems. The ambience is nice. There's nothing really special about this bar, so I gave it 3 stars. I'd go again though.

Great bar, but until this afternoon I had never tried the food. I was pleasantly surprised, they serve descent pub food. Now I need to go back to try the mashers.

Nice little bar. We walked in for a few and the bartender was excellent letting us sample some of the local crafts. We ended up also ordering buffalo chicken nachos and they were fresh, hot, lots of toppings. Not the bighest bar but a nice place to stop.

I was finally able to try some actual food here. It was ok. I had tomato soup which wasn't anything special and shared a 3 cheese smasher sandwich. It was greasy but I expected that. It came with some ranch dipping sauce and potato chips. There were a few pickles sprinkled in there as well. The price was very reasonable and the drinks were strong pours. I highly recommend Red Stag and Diet. Wow, great drink. It was hard to only have one. I really like a place where I can bring in a group and be loud/obnoxious/silly and not feel like I'm imposing. I love the peanuts they provide. The fireplace keeps the place very toasty. Bottom Line: great dive bar that suits me well.

O'Malley's is off the beaten path, but I love it. The Good: - There are a lot of drink choices - Wide variety of patrons. Everybody from hipsters to old blue collar workers. - Friendly staff The Bad: - It's a bit small - They tend to not have a problem with over-serving. - They serve food, but it looks like something that I would not want to eat. Bottom Line: Probably my favorite hang out in downtown Cincinnati.

The chicken tenders here aren't an appetizer, it's a meal. Three large tenders that are very good. And there's some drinkin to be done on the side.
