Let me preface this "review" with this: I gave Mac's a ton of chances. I frequented the restaurant, going so far as to show up around four times a month for various reasons. It is an easily accessible spot for all of my friends to get together for a couple of drinks and some grub. Had you asked me a couple of weeks ago, I wouldn't have said I had an impression of Mac's either way. But now, I sure as hell do. Mac's has a plethora of TVs, as well as NFL Sunday Ticket, so with the NFL having started recently I decided to go to Mac's on Sundays with some buddies to watch the games. This started off fine -- the first week we ordered wings and a couple of beers. The next week, just the beers, no food. This leads me to my experience last week. With none of my friends able to make it, I decided to go to Mac's on my own to watch some football. I sat in a booth in the corner of the restaurant, by the restrooms, and requested that my game be put on the television between the two bathrooms. I thought this way I wouldn't be disturbing anyone on my own, even though the Bengals didn't play that day. I had a huge breakfast before hand, and didn't really feel like drinking, so I ordered a soda and watched the game. About halfway through the game, someone I assume was the owner came over and told me if I wasn't going to order anything, that I should get out and not come back. Talk about terrible service. I laughed in his face, paid for my mountain dew, and walked out, never to return. I understand if the bar had been busy, or if this had been a regular occurrence, ordering only a soda and nothing else would be a bit annoying. But kicking a somewhat-regular out of the restaurant for not ordering food was too much. If you enjoy getting pressured into ordering food or drinks, and don't mind the occasional slime falling onto you from the ceiling, Mac's is your joint. If you want a good restaurant or bar experience, the city has plenty more to offer than this trash heap.

We had Mac's Magic Mushrooms and the Philly Cheesesteak Pizza. Nothing magical about the mushrooms except the name. They're breaded mushrooms that come with some dipping sauce. We got the ranch and bleu cheese dips. Good greasy food that you'll enjoy on the way in and regret later. The pizza was on par with the mushrooms. Good pub food. The location is super-convenient for Mariemont/Madisonville-ers. The food seems little overpriced quality-wise, but the convenient location and lack of other good options make up for that.

Once I heard that Mac's was carrying a Gluten Free Crust my stomach started growling. I have celiac Disease and it is incredible to have the opportunity to endulhe here! Crusts are baked on their own separate pans , trimming down contamination tremendously. Great service too! Thank you Mac's! 5 stars for the gluten free options as well, it is the best out there!

Let's face it, pizza is pretty hard not to get right. So let's just dig in to why this location sets itself apart. I'd say the biggest factor is that it's just a local hang out. If you live in this area you're likely to run in to your neighbors and their kids here. In addition, they have a really decent craft beer selection. Try and find that at your average "McPizza" shop!

Wanted to try this place based on a Facebook post rating the 15 best pizza places in Ohio. This intrigued me because any place in Cincinnati that has that good of pizza I wanted to try. The service was average, actually slow. The pizza I know is not in the top 10 for Cincinnati which is in Ohio. Adriaticos pizza, Trottas pizza, to name two in Cincinnati that are better. I am glad I tried it. Will try again but very disappointed. Pizza looks good with lots of cheese. But not much flavor and the crust is OK could be better. So I give them a pass for the first time. Maybe a second chance will be better.

They have "Pizzamania" on Monday nights that have very economical specials on pizzas with unlimited toppings.

My love for Mac's began at a yelp event many years ago and has blossomed into an obsession that I just can't break myself of. I'm sure a good part of the obsession has to do with the fact that the Fairfax location is less than a mile from our house. The actual pub itself is pretty stellar - a great place to go to watch the game, hang with friends, or enjoy the awesome patio. But my heart (or really my stomach) belongs to their french fry pie, which I'm told can only be ordered at the Fairfax location (you Clifton people don't know what you're missing!) Now you may be thinking 'french fry pie - that sounds disgusting!' If you are thinking that, you don't even know! The pizza starts with a delicious and fluffy crust, topped with Mac's own beer cheese. Waffle fries and chunks of tomato adorn the beer cheese base, and it's all topped off with pizza cheese and a generous sprinkling of herbs. Trust me - you need to try it! Their other pizzas are pretty delicious as well, but nothing compares to this one. So the next time hunger hits - just order a french fry pie from Mac's (you can even get it to go if you're the type to eat pizza while laying on the couch watching tv/a movie... not that I've done that before...)

Just ok. Looked like others had better food than me. Burger was thin and way overcooked. Glad cheese was mild and the bacon wasn't really substantial enough. Swapped a salad for the fries and can never seem to understand the attraction of crappy cheddar shreds on salad. So much cheese you almost didn't notice the underripe tomatoes. The wings and the calzone looked way better than what I had.

The food was excellent but the experience was regrettable. Very unprofessional and very poor service. Even though the food was delicious I will not be dining in again at this restaurant. My story is below. My wife and I arrived to an empty restaurant and was told to sit where we liked, sat down and placed our order right away. I ordered the fried chicken tenders with waffles fries and realized I had left my wallet in the car. When I went out to my vehicle there was wadded up paper towels thrown at our vehicle and one was jammed in my door lock. There was a beer bucket of what looked like urine right by the door of our car as well. I immediately went to get the manager, walked him out to our car and everything was gone except for the marks the towels had left on my vehicle. He then explained to me how kids where playing games by throwing things over the patio and trying to make them in the bucket (which turned out the bucket was gold on the inside , making it look like urine. It was water). I told him how it was still unacceptable and walked back inside. He didn't bother offering any discount or apology, just excuses. Food arrived when I sat back down and it was good, but then our waitress only returned once to fill up one cup of water and drop the check off. We paid and left and aren't looking back.

Mac's is a great place to eat and drink or to just hang out and watch a game. From the various different pizza varieties to the burgers and even the appetizers, you really can't miss. They also have a great selection of alcohol including several locally brewed favorites. The service has always been great and I would highly recommend trying them out the next time you are in the mood for pizza or a good burger. Weekly specials include pizza madness, craft beer specials and live in-house trivia. Good food, good atmosphere, good people!

I adore Mac's. It's the perfect place to go and get some brews with friends. Except for the sub-par chicken tenders, I've never had bar grub here that I didn't enjoy. Wednesday night's happy hour deals are fantastic and soon we can spend our nights on the back patio! Hint: Try the Tasty Tots. You won't be able to get them out of your brain and every time you think of Mac's you'll be reminiscing about those golden gooey little nuggets.

The best pizza in Cincinnati, hands down! The crust has a wonderful crispy crust, with a warm tender chew. The service was great and a lovely ambience. I highly recommend this to anyone.

They serve up some rock solid bar food! The pretzel's were awesome, the chicken fingers used on the buffalo sandwich were freshly breaded and delicious and the gyro pizza was solid, but they have better pies. the gyro meat is the pre sliced stuff, so just not quite up to snuff. the pizza isn't quite up to the standards of a good NY style place, but it's a very good bar pie. Don't expect some amazing epicurean adventure, but do expect some of your favorites perfectly prepared! I haven't had anything there that i did not like. excellent beer selection to boot.

I love Mac's in Clifton - I worked their briefly when they first opened and it's such a great restaurant for UC. I'd heard that Mac's had opened a second location (this one) and while at home over Christmas, my husband and I stopped in with friends who live in the Fairfax neighborhood. It was a Friday night, around 11ish p.m. when we went and all 4 of us were surprised at how incredibly DEAD it was! Besides us, there were 4ish people sitting at the bar and a couple who came in after us. Strange for a Friday night, my husband and I thought! However, our local friends assured us that on game days/nights and pretty much any other weekend, this place is hoppin'. It was likely due to it being just 2 days after Christmas that there was no one there. Either way, great beer selection. I was able to enjoy an Omission beer (gluten removed) and some local brews (not gluten-removed, just normal beers). Also, if their pizza is anything like Mac's Clifton, eat it. Seriously.

Mac's Pizza Pub has a new location woo! The beloved college bar location is an institution. I was very happy to see them expand. When I came here after a night of drinking I was thinking the same type of place. This restaurant/bar feels more upscale. Maybe because it's new? The restaurant is super clean and tidy and decked out with tons of memorabilia and hot sauces!! I ordered the waffle fry pizza, (YES you heard me right) beer cheese base with waffle fries, onions, the works. Its delicious and this time was no different. Came out super hot and cheesy and was the perfect end to the night. The service was also incredible. We had a table of 16 and our waitress was handling us all herself. And our pizza took no longer than 15 minutes. She was busting stuff out of the kitchen like crazy and was very cheerful and attentive. If you're a fan of Mac's you'll love this place.

Oh. My. Goodness. This pizza is to DIE for! I went tonight for the first time for a large get-together/celebration and left extremely stuffed and satisfied. And we just had basic cheese, pepperoni, and supreme pizzas. If the basics were that delicious, I can't wait to try their specialty pizzas. The French Fry Pie has waffle fries on it...holy moly! This location has a great upstairs area you can rent out for large groups, complete with a shuffle board. We had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners and he was so friendly and helpful. I'm definitely going back!

New to the area. This was formerly Wooster Tavern. I wanted to wait a couple of months before I tried it. I heard it was always packed. We came on a early Saturday night. We were waited on right away. I really like atmosphere, especially the neon signs. Great beer selection and service. As an appetizer we ordered the potato skins which was hot and delicious. I got a hamburger for dinner which is a decent size and was cooked the way I wanted it. Medium well. I got waffle fries with my burger and also was hot and yummy. I would definately return. Restaurant and restroom very clean.

Just moved to the area. I was looking for a mellow place to watch the bowl games and have a beer. This place was great. Plenty of TV'S. Pizza was awesome. Fantastic beer selection. Staff was courteous. I will be back.

I wish Yelp allowed half stars, because Mac's is more than a 4 but not quite a 5. The Macover is a delicious tribute to the old Zinover. Mac's wings are consistently very well done. The specialty pizzas that I've tried have all been better than I expect. (Try the Philly Cheesesteak pizza with cheese sauce - seriously). The beer selection is excellent, and they keep the taps rotating to keep things fresh. The staff is always friendly. The occasional slow service is the only thing that keeps this from being a 5 star.

Any restaurant /bar staff who can put up with a group of rowdy, overly-exuberant and pretty obnoxious drunken men whilst keeping smiles on their faces is going to get five stars from me. I mean, the ladies who served our party deserved a medal, or at least a fat tip - which they got. One of our guys was hovering around the bar talking about "partying" and buying people rounds of drinks. When his bill came and he refused to pay, the bartenders were patient and understanding (probably because myself and another friend were not drunk and able to apologize (repeatedly) and take care of the situation eventually without things getting out of control. The bill was paid, the food was excellent (I will never be able to get over the beer cheese waffle fry pizza) and they have angry orchard, my absolute fave. So thank you to both our waitress and the bar staff, for your excellent service even amidst such ridiculousness. Next time we return we'll try to be less annoying. We can't make any promises about that, but we can promise to tip well and keep enjoying this amazing restaurant. Thanks Mac for opening one here, by the way!!!!

My husband and I ate here tonight at around 6 PM. It wasn't too busy and we sat ourselves. We ordered a large "Chicago Gyro" pizza. I had a side salad with ranch dressing. The salad was nice and crunchy, but had a little too much chopped red onion for my taste. The pizza was good too, if a little messy. I really liked the tzatziki sauce they put on top after the pizza was baked, but the toppings kept sliding completely off the crust every time I tried to take a bite. I wound up using a knife and fork to cut the slices into smaller pieces. We would definitely go back to try some of their other menu items, like the sandwiches and calzones.

Hurray for the new Mac's Pizza Pub in Fairfax! I never had the opportunity to visit Wooster Tavern, but I can only imagine that the renovation has only made the space better. There a great pizza menu (with intriguing vegan and gluten free pizza options), a whole range of other pub food options, and a nice tap selection and plenty of craft beers. The bar downstairs, which I imagine is the original, is beautiful. There are plenty of tvs to watch a game while you eat, and sporty paraphenalia everywhere! The upstairs is nearly finished, with shuffleboard, darts, tvs, a second bar, and a crazy cool night sky ceiling complete with glow-in-the-dark stars. It is cooler to see than I am describing, or maybe I'm just a nerd. Service was very friendly, there's lots of seating, and I think it will keep getting better as the new staff gets situated. Great family-friendly and casual addition to the Mariemont/Fairfax area. It already has a comforting, neighborhood feel that I just adore!

This pizza was awful. Yes, I'm a little hard to please, growing up with amazing New York pizza, but this was horrible. Completely unseasoned crust, bland sauce, greasy, plastic-y cheese, and way overpriced, especially since they charged full specialty price for a pizza that was half plain cheese. You know it's bad when the 6-year-old won't eat it. We won't be returning, even though the beer list was good.

A few months ago the Wooster Tavern on Wooster Pike transformed into the second location of Mac's Pizza Pub. I went the Wooster Tavern a lot as an early twenty-something but haven't been back in many years. The second I walked through the door, over this past weekend, it was like I never left. The layout of the building is completely the same. There is a bar area to the right as you walk in the main door on the side of the building. To the left is a small dining area and then around the corner from there is the stairwell to the upper level with even more seating, a shuffleboard table, and another small bar. There are TV's in every corner of the building and then some. My parents joined us for dinner and my dad was really impressed by the number and quality of TV's on their walls. We will definitely have to remember that when searching for somewhere to catch a game. Plus they have a really great beer selection. I was able to finally try Mt. Carmel's Third Shift Imperial Coffee Stout. Wonderful! For dinner we all agreed to split two medium (12) pizzas. It was the perfect amount of pizza for the four of us plus our young child. Speaking of which, every single table in the place seemed to have at least one child with them, so it's a very family friendly place. The first pizza I tried was the Mac's Supreme ($14.49 for 12). This was loaded with pepperoni, sausage, ham, green peppers, red onions, mushrooms, and black olives before being topped with plenty of mozzarella and provolone cheese. It was basically a pretty standard supreme pizza but I really enjoyed their rather chewy hand tossed crust. The sauce was also full of flavor. Our other pizza was the Hawaiian Heaven ($14.49 for 12). This one was topped with pineapple, ham, bacon, and a dusting of cinnamon with the same cheese blend as before. I've had the Hawaiian pizza many times before, but I don't recall ever having it with cinnamon. My parents were skeptical of this at first, but we all seemed to really enjoy the addition. It added a little extra spice to the already sweet pizza. This pie typically comes served with roasted almond slices as well, but we had them removed as I am allergic to almonds. With an excellent selection of beer, great quality pizza, and TV's on every corner, I think we may have found a new favorite spot.

This is a relaunch of wooster tavern, with a branded makeover. They kept some of the old bar food standby's, but added the Mac's touch, which means, awesome pizzas, and an above average beer selection. They are still in the soft opening stages, so I'm being generous because they need to figure out their staffing zones and pacing of servers, everyone was cool, and the pizza was of course, excellent. The tots are an excellent appetizer. There is a top notch patio to enjoy during nice weather, and indoors, there are enough TV's to catch the game, whatever game that might be. Come give them a try, but be patient, at least for a little bit.

Mac's is a family pleaser. While I might go there for date night before a movie in Mariemont, where it really shines is when you need to take the kids someplace that will make everyone happy. Their beer list is very good, the menu diverse enough to make everybody happy, and the pizza is clearly made by people who love pizza. The interior remodel has opened up the space, essentially breaking it into four different dining "rooms," each with a slightly different feel. This would also be a great place to watch a game. Admittedly the TV volume was a bit much for my taste, but since we were there on a Sunday during NFL season it was not surprising. We will definitely be back.

This is the only sports bar that stays open late enough to show all the UC games! I like mac's because they have gluten-free pizza crust that actually tastes good. Some of the pizza combinations are not so tasty - the gyro pizza only tasted like cream, garlic, and cheese. They have other pizzas that are delicious- tree hugger & Mac Attack. I frequently order a side of pizza sauce because a lot of the pies come with an olive oil sauce. The beer selection is outstanding! And on Wednesdays, it's craft beer night. They also have a full bar & a nice, yet small, wine list. Saratoga chips are ok (a little greasy for my liking), and the Mt Caramel beer cheese tastes like tangy cheesy beer! I like this sports bar a lot, especially for the GF pizza crust.

Our favorite go to for good draft crafts and even better pizza! The veggie pizza is unbelievable. They are closed right now for remodel, so I am anxiously awaiting their grand reopening!

The waiter was very helpful as we forgot our glasses. I had a burger and my friend had pizza. Both good. $2.50 for iced tea, though?

Fun place to come for dinner! The pizza was very good and there is truly something for everyone, including vegetarians and those with gluten-intolerance. Decent beer menu, but ask for the menu of bottles bacause there is much more than what's on tap. Salads are huge and enough to share. Beware if you come with a group and have to wait for a table, there is no good place for people to wait without being in the way. Parking is also a challenge, there is only one narrow way in or out and it is difficult to turn around.

I used to think there was no such thing as bad pizza. Then I had Mac's. This is literally the worst pizza in the city. The sauce is like ketchup and cheese taste like what I imagine the floor underneath my bed does. Fix it.

I was looking for a party room on the east side of Cincinnati, this was for a youth basketball team. Mac's was the PERFECT venue for this. The room on the 2nd floor is big and has a very cool layout and design. We had one dedicated server, who had help from others when necessary. They did an awesome job keeping drinks full and getting food on time for 35 people. The food was also great. We had a combination of kids meals, big pizzas, individual calzones, and sandwiches. And the draft beer list is very impressive. We'll definitely be scheduling future parties here for soccer/basketball/scout/etc events.

Great beer selection, noisy atmosphere, tiny, skinny parking lot. The "Macover" tastes like a bland pretzel and leaves you hungry for more. Not hungry for more "Macover", just plain hungry. Very loud, but the look inside was nice. No shortage of large HD TV's. Good luck parking! One row of maybe 15 spots and nearly impossible to turn around. Think Austin Powers trying to turn a golf cart... youtube.com/watch?v=b_ph…

If you were a student at UC then you probably already know what Mac's is. For me, it's always been a place to have a beer with friends, play some shuffleboard, and devour some late night pizza. Now that I'm older, I've moved out of the slums that is Clifton and moved into the burbs that is the wonderful land of Mariemont. I no longer drink with college friends, I drink alone. And I no longer eat pizza, I eat fruits and veggies. All kidding aside I was thrilled when I saw that they were opening a Mac's right outside Mariemont on Wooster Pike. The main reason for my excitement wasn't the 20 beers on tap or the amazing appetizers like pretzels with beer cheese, it's their healthier menu choices. Mac's offers two different vegan pizzas and two different vegan burgers, both of which tickle my fancy. To be quite honest, when I first went vegan I thought I had said goodbye to pizza forever. I'm here to tell you that the Tree Hugger vegan pizza is as good as the real thing. I don't know if it's the garlic butter, the mozzarella cheese or the sundried tomatoes, artichokes, and onions but this pizza is damn near perfect! And nothing about it screams vegan butter or fake cheese! They also offer a Clifton Natural Foods vegan pizza which is more like a traditional supreme pizza sans the meat of course! The vegan burger options are made possible by the forward-thinking owners of Mac's Pub and the fine people of Five Star Foodies! This vegan based food company produces a mass selection of animal-free cuisines nationwide, and is prepared locally here in Cincinnati by awesome people. Mac's offers the artichoke or meat flavored patties and deck up it up nice with the normal burger fixins and serve it with a side dish. I'd recommend the waffle fries cause they are the shiznit here! In all, Mac's is a great place for anyone and everyone to come eat! And now, you don't have to drive to the UC campus to relive your glory days, you can do it on the east side on Wooster Pike!

Arrived at Mac's with a group of 15 at 10pm last night and our experience was excellent. Our server Brittany handled us with ease. Drinks were regularly refilled and all the food came out hot and correct. She even split the pizzas up among the groups so we could avoid the problem of splitting up the check. I recommend any of their pizzas... my favorites is the gyro, but the BBQ chicken and french fry pizzas are also contenders.

The old Wooster Tavern was my neighborhood go-to sports bar, and Mac's is basically just an upgrade. Same lay-out, same number of tv's, same noisiness during games, but much better beer selection and the addition of pizza to the menu. Great service too!

I so wanted this place to be successful. We have tried and tried to have a good experience, but it just isn't happening, The beer selection was great, but the staff was clueless about the beer. The service at the bar is so bad a local mens sport team stopping going. The food is inconsistent at best (beer cheese tastes different each time). I feel like the owners expect you should like it because it has the same name as the one at UC. What they don't realize is the business is not a college bar, it is in a residential neighborhood. People expect good consistent food and service. This place has neither.

Loved Mac's. Laid back vibe, great service and great food. There were a lot of interesting options on the menu, we ordered hot pretzels and beer cheese to start. While a lot of places have beer cheese in Cinci, theirs is spicy and tastes homemade, as do the pretzels. I had the gyro pizza which was unexpected and awesome. Solid beer selection and plenty of tv's to watch the games, we'll definitely be back!

We really like Mac's. However, will most likely will not return. The last 4 times we have been there, the service has been really really bad. Each time we make excuses for them, and we are the customer. Each time we say, maybe tonight will be different. The food is really good. Too bad the owner can not hire enough people to wait on all the tables. We have tried it various days of the week and each time the service is really bad. You can not have a place with 30+ tables and have two servers and one of those is also the hostess. I know what busy restaurants are like, as I have worked in them. The funny thing is that when we go to Mac's, I can predict what our experience will be as soon as we walk in. Most customers are looking around for their server, glasses are empty and dirty plates are stacked up on the tables, or no one has food but they do have empty glasses. There are too many other places to go. Sad because the food is quite good. Perhaps take out is the answer.

Best gluten free pizza I've ever had and good selection of gluten free beer as well. Impressed! I'll assume they're working on getting more help as they settle in. Our server was great and food didn't take too long (under the circumstances), but they were clearly overwhelmed in the first week. Excited to go back and would recommend as great neighborhood sports bar or place to take the kids.
