This place is very reasonable on price and the breakfast is excellent!

I grew up in the area. For those that are from around here (by which I mean within two miles of where the train tracks cross over Miami Ave) downtown Madeira isn't a suburb of Cincinnati, it's a small town. It still maintains that small town feel. We still have a local butcher shop (been eating their stuffed pork chops for forty years). We have a thriving shopping district with specialty food stores, clothing stores, and restaurants running the gamut from fast casual to casual fine. We also have our own old timey diner in J.K.'s Chili. We used to hit this place up for breakfast before class back in my high school days. Loved it then, love it now. High school jerseys on the wall. Super, SUPER clean. Classic Cincinnati diner menu with Cincy style chili and breakfast served all day. I came in for breakfast. Ordered over easy eggs, bacon, hash browns, rye toast and coffee. Over easy eggs are easy to screw up. It's a very fine line from easy to medium. Mine were perfect. The bacon was cooked perfectly with just the right crispiness and zero burned bits. The hash browns had the perfect crisp to the outside and were tender on the inside with a great buttery flavor. The toast was also, you guessed it, perfect. Stiff with a light crust to the outside but still chewy in the middle. The coffee was exactly what I want and expect from a diner. Not too strong so that it's accessible to those of us that aren't looking for an espresso wanna be but definitely not dirty dish water either. In a word my breakfast was PERFECT. The owner came out and talked to me about my meal and to get my feedback on a new coffee they were trying. While I was there I saw him stop by every table to check on things. A business owner that actually cares about their patrons and genuinely listens?!?! Got to love that! This place needs to stop being a hidden gem that only we locals know and love. This place should be a destination. Small town charm, great food and top notch service.

Yeah, not a fan. We went at 1:00pm, prime time for a breakfast/lunch/lottery kind of place. So I was surprised to find the spaghetti noodles to be completely waterlogged. They were practically paste. Add to that a very over-spiced chili. Their chili has a quite dominant cinnamon and possibly curry flavor? I can't suggest this place, especially to someone from outside of Cincinnati to be representative of the Cincy Style Chili. The door to the kitchen was open at one point and the floor looked pretty gross. There must be something I'm missing here because there were most definitely lots of regulars.

What a wonderful breakfast! I met my boyfriend and dad here yesterday morning and got the small breakfast plate. It was lots of food and everything was delicious! The service was great too. I'm excited to back for lunch and try their chili. But I would definitely recommend their yummy breakfast!

I've tried chilis all over Cincinnati and this is the only bad one I've had. Did not begin well when at 1:15 on a Saturday afternoon they were out of hot chili and had to warm up more for us. When it came about 20 minutes later was still not that warm so I sent back for a boost in the microwave. Then there's the taste or really the lack of. Grainy texture, mostly ground beef, only faintly similar to "normal" Cincinnati Chili. Quite disappointing. My fav remains Price Hill.

Great little hole in the wall located in Madeira. Breakfast, lunch, and lottery is their theme. Scratch a lottery ticket while you eat. The chili is Cincinnati style and a little sweeter than the normal chili in the area. Very low key diner atmosphere. They also serve breakfast. I'd be interested to see what they offer. They are closed on Mondays.

This is one of many chili parlors in the Greater Cincinnati area. Every one of these privately owned chili joints has a unique style and flavor. I'm a big fan of J K's. It's not my absolute favorite flavor, but the atmosphere is great, the lunch specials are very affordable, and the staff are quick and friendly. Plus, the portion sizes are pretty big... so keep that in mind before you order the "4-coneys for $5" special. They are larger than the Skyline coneys! Located in Madeira, a little hole in the wall place. They just got a card reader too... but bring cash to help them save money if you can.

Great little diner with amazing meals that don't leave a dent in your wallet. Good local atmosphere that makes you want to read the paper and enjoy the day. Oh. Don't forget going for breakfasts!

JK's Chili is a local Madeira staple. As a Madeira resident, JK's is often our "go to" choice for a quick and delicious meal. Their club sandwich is not only delicious, it's also HUGE. They also have really great hamburgers and fries. The owner is always there with a smile and a hello, and you can even buy lottery tickets there! They often offer up new specials, and everything on their menu is very affordable.

Great little diner if you're looking for a home cooked meal type of feel. They have a wide range in their menu including breakfast, chicken, fish, or chili. Quaint little place full of locals

Only made it in this trip from Chicago for a yummy cheese coney but the place looks great. Obvious improvements since my last visit here. D was on the grill making everything look delicious. They obviously have a new owner and I enjoyed their twist on Cincinnati Chili. It is definitely different from Skyline and Blue Ash Chili, which I always visit as well. I wanted to get back here for some breakfast... but was in town for just a short time and they had a free hot breakfast at the hotel. This was always a great little hang out in my youth and after being in town for our 35th reunion, I just had to make an appearance. Glad to see Jerry has retired after 38+ years with his dream of having a chili parlor here in my hometown.

JK's chili parlor sits on the end cap of a multi-tenant storefront in the quiet town of Madeira. If you aren't paying attention you could easily pass it up and not see it. The outside of the parlor is plastered with signs such as "4 coneys for $5!" which is enough to entice us in even on a non-chili tour. The parlor itself is a typical parlor with one awesome addition, you can buy lottery tickets at JK's! From $20 scratch offs to $1 pick threes, you can scratch away your retirement funds. Unfortunately they don't have Keno, and Stephanie was really looking forward to this. Inside the front door and past the lottery tickets we find a long counter with about 10 seats on the left and about ten tables throughout the rest of the restaurant, more than enough seating for our chili team. We arrived at noon and were quickly given 2 tables (even though I prefer to sit at the counter) and were quickly given our drink orders. Upon receiving our drinks I ordered the normal 4-way with onions and a cheese coney, with mustard and onion. The waiter has the distinct honor of being the first male on the chili tour to serve me. I typically prefer my chili to be served by a "Biddy" as our teammate Adam coined, but even though he lacked the henish qualities of our previous biddies, he did serve the chili in quick fashion, and without reminders. The coney was the first to arrive to my table. It had an awkward lean to it that I must assume was from an abundance of chili with a shorter than bun size frank. The buns were fresh and soft, but it was a mess to eat. I was excited to see that they kept it local with Shur-Good oyster crackers, but they had a chewier texture to them, almost as though they were stale. The hot sauce was Frank's Red Hot, and was, well, not that hot and left a lot to be desired. The 4-way quickly made it's appearance, but if we're judging on appearance, I'm a bit disappointed. The typical chili parlor serves their 3, 4, and 5 ways on a dish that is a hybrid between a bowl and a plate, curving up to keep the sauce centered with the noodles. JK's serves their chili on a normal round plate that allows for the whole concoction to flow around with reckless abandon. The chili itself bit flavorful, but then the flavor quickly left. There was no aftertaste whatsoever, and the onions overpowered the dish. The noodles were fine, not too firm, not to soft, and were easily managed with a fork. The cheese on both the coney and the dish were sharp and soft, just like they should be. Overall, I'm going to have to give low marks for JK's. The appearances along with the overall lack of flavor and the lack of any type of ambiance are what gives JK's 4 stars out 10. It's OK, but it's just not up there with the heavy hitters.
