High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.

High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. A place like Applebees is tricky to review. It's a chain, so there really isn't a great deal of history or character to discuss. The décor is standard and less than unique. The menu is a carbon copy from one location to the next. With a chain, if you've been to one restaurant, you pretty much know what to expect from all the others. I've been to this particular Applebees a handful of times, and it pretty much meets the expectations set by their corporate offices. The walls are decorated with the usual hodgepodge of music memorabilia collected from yard-sales as well as photos from local sports teams. The staff has always been very polite and attentive to our table whenever I've been there. As for the food offerings I've had the boneless wings, mozzarella sticks, chili cheese nachos, and a few of the salads. And everything was pretty satisfying. Like I said I've been to this particular location a handful of times. This is the usual meeting place for me and the members of my crew (I'm a football official) before a lot of our games, and usually this is where we stop for our post-game meal. The food is good, the drinks are cool, the staff is friendly, and the prices are affordable. A pretty good combination if you ask me. Mahalo, and enjoy.

Ok, well, this place is not great. I went once and was not impressed, but I decided to do my due-diligence, and went a second time...still not impressed. So, the first time, I went and ordered, a quesadilla burger, I believe it was. Well, they asked how I wanted it cooked, and I said 'Medium Rare - can you do that?' (You never know, some don't like to cook anything less than Medium.) Anyways, she said, 'I think so - I usually just ask if you want pink or no pink.' ARE YOU KIDDING ME? A place that has burgers and steak, and you ask 'pink or no pink'? This is completely wrong. I got my burger - it was ok, but it did not taste high quality. My second experience, I decided to take a different route, and ordered a salad with chicken. The chicken was...meh - it was dry and, again as with the burger, was not high quality. The salad was also dry - not much dressing at all. Since eating these two times, I discussed with a friend of mine who's a general manager at a restaurant. He tells me that the poor quality is because the microwave all their food. 'They pre-cook it, but microwave it to re-heat and serve it' were his words I believe, followed by the question, 'How else do you think they can guarantee a meal prepared in under 20 minutes or offer 2 3-course meals for under $20?' Needless to say, I will not be going back there, nor will I recommend this place to people.

My husband and I visited recently. It was not a pleasant experience. It was also the first time we walked out without paying the bill, but then, we didn't eat the food, either. It took more than a few minutes to get seated. They were busy but had plenty to free booths. Then, once we were seated, it took forever for our waiter to come. After he got done working his way to our booth by chatting with people in the other booths, he was finally ready to take our drink order. We asked him to take our lunch order, too. We somehow had the feeling that this would get drawn out if we didn't. Our lunch finally came after about 20 minutes. I ordered a tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich. My husband ordered a chicken wrap. My soup was cold and so was the grilled cheese. No kidding! It was ice cold and rubbery! The chicken wrap was really skimpy. We asked the hostess if it would be possible to actually get some warm food. She was very gracious and went to get our waiter. She told us he would be right out. After another 10 minutes, we just left. The hostess was not at her station and we left a note. Never, ever again.

The service here at this restaurant is horrible, slow, and the server does not know how to balance her work. I will not be returning to this location due to the fact that the manager did not check in at any table and that the server that we had particularly was bad. I refuse to even pay for the meal I just had tonight and will be getting my money back.

The worst service I've ever recieved. I dont recall the ladys name, but her section was not busy, she did not check on us, and we waited an hour and 30 minutes for the bill (she looked me eye to eye and did not come check up) we got here at 8:45 and sat bar area on july 14, 2015. We got our tab at 10:27, though we were probably done at 9. As we had only gotten dessert. She made excuses that she was helping the kitchen. I worked as a waitress for YEARS and if i had customers they came first, i guaruntee there are always people in the kitchen. Perhaps she was not ready for bar floor, but i will not be returning or recommending the service to anyone

My daughter has piano lessons near here and I thought we could go out afterwards. I would have done better choosing McDonalds!!! Let us start off with the table still having crusted food on it. Next We ordered 2 steaks.... my daughter a 7 oz steak medium rare and me a 9 oz steak medium rare...... My daughter's steak was close to the desired level, but mine was cooked to the consistency of shoe leather. When the server came out I showed this to him...... He said that he would send the manager out...... The manager did come out and proceeded to talk with the person sitting at the bar for about 30 minutes totally ignoring the rest of the restaurant..... On to the Mashed potatoes...... it is hard to mess those up, right?!?! Wrong..... they were cold, had no garlic flavor and could be used as drywall mud. Would I go back here or to any other Applebee's???? Nope, I think not. This experience was the final nail in the coffin for me and this eatery.....

Worst Applebee's location ever. I highly suggest picking a different one, no matter how close this one is. They kept serving my friends and I raw meat and every time we tried to tell them, they argued that it was supposed to be like that. Or that it was just soggy from the sauce. Soggy meat isn't bright pink and bloody and cold. Every table around us was sending food back. Then the waitress asked us to put in a good word for her so she could get promoted and tried to keep 20+dollars as a tip for a twenty dollar meal. Servers were horrible. Managers are rude. Done with this place.

Absolute worst service ever. Ordered an appetizer of nachos and our server was talking to friends the whole while, when she brought it to us apologized a good 3 times for it taking so long and she admitted about talking, very insincere apology, in a it-happens-all-the-time kind of manner. We ordered drinks and they had more ice and were watered down like no other. When our food came I got chicken pasta, the chicken was fantastic, the pasta was chewy and tasted dry like it was sitting out for awhile, the pasta was not hot at all. My date's was pretty much the same way chicken was awesome and the rice and everything else wasn't great. When our check came we had a meal that we did not even order, again we got 3 more apologies. As we are finishing up some dude off the street comes in asking for a lite for his cig bothering all the diners, a diner gave him his lite and he lit it up right in the building! Puffing smoke in everyone's face a as he walks out the front door, a puff of smoke literally right in my face. Not a single employee said anything to him. Very displeased. Did I mention this was my 21st birthday dinner? Never returning.

Not the best I've ever bad. Kinda dissappointing. The servers are not up to par and neither are the food and drinks. Don't be fooled by the packed house, trust me it's not really worth the wait.

Don't normally eat at chains but was brought here by others and it didn't disappoint. Our lunches came out in 14 minutes and 50 seconds so they were FREE. I had the unlimited soup and salad and even after they were deemed free, the waiter asked if I wanted seconds. We didn't even receive a check or have to pay for our drinks. Great deal...if your lunch is late per their current promo.

About Applebee's

Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak.
