Do you remember when you were younger and your parents would buy you ice cream even though they didn't love you anymore after blowing that save? Do you remember how good that ice cream tasted? Well, odds are you probably bought ice cream from here. This ice cream stand has been a fixture in the Portage Lakes since God-knows-when. Over the years, one can expect the quality of a restaurant to decline as motives become profit-oriented instead of customer-oriented. I have yet to experience such a decline here. Pav's has a plethora of ice cream sundaes available, but the most commonly-ordered dessert is homemade ice cream, which is either ordered in a bowl or on a cone. They also serve frozen yogurt and frozen custard. The homemade ice cream I ordered yesterday was as good as I remember it being from back when I was younger. I ordered homemade strawberry ice cream in a bowl (melting sucks, brah). While I am suspicious that they don't actually make the ice cream in-store as they have claimed in the past, it was creamy and decadent - the way ice cream should be. The flavor also tasted legitimate (e.g., they did not use artificial "flavor enhancers"). They also have weekly specials, although some of their flavors they include in their weekly specials are just bizarre - not quite "corn-on-the-cob flavored ice cream" bizarre, but nothing you'd find at most ice cream stands. Compared to the other nearby ice cream stands - Biggins' Big Dip, Ice Cream Park, and Durbin Magic Freeze - I've found that the quality of both the ice cream and the service here is the best in the area. You also don't have as many insects pestering you as you eat your ice cream as you do at the other three aforementioned restaurants, since Pav's is the farthest away from a body of water out of the three. The only problem I've ever encountered is the fact that 14 year-old girls who attend Coventry High School still don't know how to add and subtract, as shown by my lack of change sometimes. If you can overlook getting stiffed by an 8th grader for change, then this is the perfect place to enjoy a cone if you are forced to be in this area of the country.

Fantastic custard (I haven't had the ice cream, but I bet it's delicious as well!!) The place is always packed, but the line moves quickly. In addition, the prices are extremely reasonable and the portions are generous. If you are in the Portage Lakes/Coventry area, you definitely have to stop!!

Pav's is a staple of the Portage Lakes area. I have been coming here since i was itty bitty, and when I had my first cone in 4 years after moving back to the area, it tasted just as I remembered. Like home. Pav's has a wonderful variety of flavors and hands down the best waffle cones EVER! They have a nice variety of gluten free options and each week boasts TWO flavors of the week. If you're smart, you'll get your cone half and half with each flavor. My only complaint is that they only take cash which can be a bit of a hassle, but it's definitely worth the trip to tha ATM. If I remember correctly, Pav's sister creamery is down in Canal Fulton at Cherry Street Creamery and it's equally as wonderful. Pav's will always be my first pick over any other ice cream place in the area.

Well, this was our ending to our day at Clays Water Park. It was recommended by our friend who lives in the area and it was a good recommendation. This place offers home made ice cream, frozen custard and frozen yogurt. The kids had drumsticks which they devoured. I had the large (3-scoops) of Black Cherry custard while my wife had the Chocolate Almond custard. Man, was this good. So creamy and flavorful...I could have had another 3 scoops. It was that good. I wish they weren't as far as way as they are but i can tell you when we are in the Akron area again, we will stop. They have many flavors to choose from in the custard and ice cream but I only saw three fro-yo flavors. The prices are great...It was just over $12 for the five of us. Cheaper than when we go to the Dairy Queen, I know that. Great ice cream and great prices-can't beat it. *Quick note for fellow Yelper Lolia (fro-yo girl)-The fro-yo flavors they had were vanilla, dark chocolate and banana cream. I did see some toppings such as sprinkles, granola, crushed cookies and candies. Although I didn't try any this time, I will on our next visit:)

There are a lot of handmade ice cream shops in this area, but Pav's is probably the best. There are a lot of options including a flavor of the week that changes...well, weekly. Get a scoop, a sundae, a shake, etc. There's not much by way of food options in this area of the country, but, on the other hand, it's one of the few places you can find places like Pav's that make America great.

Their new location is very clean and nice! Same great ice cream, but the best part is they accept credit cards!

CASH ONLY!!! Be warned! They do not take credit/debit cards. I also disliked the fact that the ice cream flavors are on a board right next to the window where you order and wait for your ice cream. People stand in front of it the whole time so you can't read it until it's your turn. Then you feel the pressure to hurry up and order. Now, onto the good stuff. VERY tasty, creamy "kustard" as they call it. They also have a huge board listing other items they sell like blizzards, sundaes, splits, etc. I recommend the hot fudge brownie sundae. I also noticed that they have an alcohol infused flavor that changes weekly (I think it's weekly). I wish I would have been able to try it. Hubby and I got the brownie sundae to split because we only had $5 in cash with us, not realizing they didn't take credit. We will be back. With more cash next time!

The shushies/icees (can't remember what they're called) weren't as good as they could be, but the custard is terrific! CASH ONLY. Outdoor seating on picnic tables. No indoor seating.

My grandparents live just a few minutes away, so trips up to visit them in the summer always involved a visit to Pav's for custard. (Yeah, they have some ice cream, and it's not bad, but you NEED to have the frozen custard. Trust me.) Stopping in recently with my wife during a trip to see family, it was wonderful to realize that the nostalgia wasn't blinding me - it really is still some of the best custard I've ever had. Even better, they've gotten more and more creative, offering variations like the baklava sundae (exactly what you think), frozen cakes, mixers, and a new creation: The chocolate dipped custard donut. They take a glazed yeast donut, split it like a bagel, fill it with your choice of custard, and then dip the bottom half into quick setting chocolate. It is exactly as good as that sounds, and just as bad for you as you'd expect. But hey, it's summer - why not?

This is a good combination. their ice cream is as good as always but it will be better if they can use regular soft donute.

This was my first time to Pav's Creamery, and I was pleasantly delighted with the ice cream there. I'm not the biggest fan of ice cream/sweets, but their pumpkin pecan custard was delicious! We also tried the pecan praline ice cream. The ice cream was indeed creamy and not as sweet as the store bought stuff you get at the market. It's a great place to take little kids, and is right by the Portage Lakes area! You should definitely stop by here, pick up some ice cream, and head to the lakes!

The ice cream served here is simply delicious! I especially enjoy their nutella gelato! The Superman flavor is kinda strange and tastes like bubble gum. Their frozen yogurt is far too tasty to be fat free!!!! They have a wide selection of flavors and items and the prices are very reasonable! Great portions too! I usually just stick with small. Ultimately, I'm glad I found this place!
