We arrived, a party of 41 at 930 pm on a Monday night. The management and staff treated us like royalty. The food and the service was superb and the environment was beautiful. We host this large dinner annually around the country and this particular experience stands out as one of the most memorable. Thanks Ken Stewart's Grille for a fantastic evening!

Your typical high class restaurant. Salads are pretty good. Filet's tend to be on the smaller side I feel. Actually their seafood is not bad. Desserts are okay.

Can't go wrong here either in the bar for drinks and a smoking area or in the restaurant for great steaks, seafood, and fresh but not overdone presentations. They don't fall prey to the modern problem of adding one too many ingredients. They do it just right. $$$

All and all very good. Food was excellent and the waitress was very, very friendly. Taking away a star because it is ridiculously expensive for what it is.

The restaurant is beautiful, the service is terrifice, (although sometimes a bit over zealous, and the food is amazing with huge portions. One would think this is the perfect restaurant untill you look at the wine list. I have never seen such over inflated prices for an independent restaurant. I was in sticker shock. $31 for the $8.99 Ca'tullio Pinot Grigio is just one example. However, it must work because everyone had a bottle on their table. I have no problem paying for food (and yes the entrees are pricey) but I just cannot pay their wine prices. If you can do without the wine the restaurant can't be beat.

Pricey but worth every cent...The DelMonaco Steak was to die for & @ a whopping $43.00 it should be. It's a must even if it's just the once...BonApetite!!!

Over all this place is so so after several visits. Way over priced for the quality of food. The bar area is nice and the staff is friendly. If you want a good steak or seafood go to Hyde Park.

Awesome restaurant with very good service. Bob jumped at the chance to have lamb t-bone with mashed cauliflower with garlic and cheese and fresh herbs. I jumped at the chance of having flash fried perch and home fries, with a fresh greens salad with crisis and candied walnuts. Fresh hot bread was served with the drinks--I tried Stewart's diet root beer (not the same Stewart and no caffeine ). Nice jazzy music played in the background, bathrooms were clean.

Only grabbed a margarita, but overall I liked the place. A little pricey, but the margarita was worth it (very strong, in a good way). I would give this place a shot in the future (on a special occasion).

A friend and I came in for lunch on Valentine's Day and were quite impressed! I cannot remember our servers name, but she was quite attentive and very sociable. I ordered the Cobb salad with the house vinaigrette and my friend had the scallop feature. For me, going out to eat is hard due to the fact I have celiac disease. I hate being "that" annoying person, so I try sticking with salads. Ken Stewart's having the "gf" label on the menus really helps, so that was a huge plus. However, my server did not seem to have much knowledge of the food and how it is prepared. She also did not offer to ask the chefs which dressings were gluten free, and only offered me vinaigrette. I was not a fan, at all, so I'm happy the dressing was on the side. The Cobb salad was great dry anyways. My friend absolutely loved his scallops and considered ordering to take home. To finish off our meal, we had cappuccino and Crème brûlée. They were absolutely delicious! The fresh vanilla bean crème brûlée was to die for. We will definitely be back.

Always lots of daily specials and the food is always delicious. I almost always order a salad with blackened salmon...yummy. Great wine list for an extra oomph in your day. Service is attentive without being bothersome especially during a business meeting. Park in their lot outside. Screw the meters.

What can I say? It's my home town and favorite restaurant. I compare every owner to Ken Stewart because he is the epitomy of perfection and restaurant excellence. Love, the Grille, The Lodge, TreBelle and now the newest in downtown Cleveland! Awesome food, first class dining experience and beautiful comfortable decor.

It has been years since I had visited Ken Stewart's. Thinking of going somewhere special les me to reserving a table a few Friday nights ago. From the moment my party sat down, we all felt relaxed and yet attended to. The decor is tasteful in the main dining area, the menu is diverse for most and the quality and presentation is 4+ stars. The filet Trio was a fun dish to enjoy with three differently prepared mini filets. The ahi tuna is a very generous portion and perfectly prepared. The salads are creatively mastered while the deserts are to die for. We will be back!

I've been patronizing this place for well over 20 years. Today I have decided I am over it. So many tacky things between the bar manager snacking on food behind the bar to the place, well, needing a way past due complete remodel.

My husband and I continue to come here twice a month, probably, for date nights. Its hard to find a place that has better service and food quality than Ken Stewarts. We have gone to a lot of other high-quality restaurants in the Akron-Cleveland area and keep coming back here! They have amazing food and the servers are always willing to make changes for whatever you request. We just went on vacation to Mexico and stayed at a very high end hotel, which had amazing food. We both told each other that the only place in Ohio that has better food than this is Ken Stewarts!

Akron, Ohio, whip out your NYC pocketbooks - Ken Stewart's requires some serious coinage. The atmosphere is classic Midwest steakhouse...wood paneling, large, expansive space, cozy booths - but a gander at the menu makes you wonder if you aren't in Midtown Manhattan instead! But hark! With the coming of mid-week comes Wednesday's half-priced happy house appetizers! My husband and I flew in from the East on a Wednesday, an my brother-in-law took us out to KSG to take advantage of the deal. There were some lovely looking shrimp and scallops on the menu, but my brother in law is a sea-fearing creature, so we stuck with land animals for the meal. Overall, 3.5 stars - when measured on an Akron scale. 1. Black angus sliders (mushroom/Swiss; bacon/cheddar; peppercorn/Provolone): decent, but nothing special. A little dry. 2. Fried pickles (at request of my brother in law): would not be my first choice but one of the better fried pickles I've had. Good breading! 3. Stuffed Hungarian pepper: this was excellent. Rice, ground pork/beef, and spicy sauce in the pepper. Lovely spicy tomato chutney around the outside....YUM! 4. Flatbread pizza: this was decent, but again nothing special. The pizza was really thin like I like it - but the toppings were a bit on the greasy side. All in all, with 2 Christmas ales, the meal came to about $14 per person, which is very reasonable for happy hour half-priced apps at a nice place. The food would not be worth double the price, especially considering the average quality and location.

  • David K.

You would think that with these prices, the food would blow you away....that said, the prices are a not a premium if you want to "see and be seen". We have no problem spending a extra money for a special meal, but for our fellow food snobs, there are other places in Akron to get great food: save you and your special someone fifty bucks.

service was really good. very nice music of choices. Not too loud and but just loud enough that i don't hear other people's conversation next table. Food was amazing. i had an Old Fashion. It was a little weak. Other than that, nice dining experience for couples.

Ken Stewarts Grille definitely doesn't have the most innovative menu but if you're feeling a little spendy and want a leisurely, consistent dining experience with food you probably wouldn't make for yourself, KSG is the place. They make this scallop-beurre-blanc dish in Fall that makes me deliriously happy. I went for lunch out on the patio that, despite it's proximity to Market St., is very cozy and well-appointed. I had an intense craving for their Angus sliders and, as always, they delivered. Three perfectly cooked sliders, one peppercorn, one mushroom and swiss and one cheddar and bacon served with their home fries. Perfect and reasonably priced lunch fare. Add to that a Sloe Gin Fizz (I must have been channeling my grandmother) and KSG's absolutely DIVINE peach bread pudding with whiskey sauce and vanilla ice cream and the afternoon was complete. Could have used stretchy pants... I have been to Ken's many times and the service had always been impeccable. Servers never rush and are always well informed of the menu. The key to Ken's is to hit 1/2 off apps and martinis on Wednesdays and Fridays. Total freaking steal. I rarely go on any other nite. You really can't get better food for the price on those nights. Great for a group with tons of apps to share. And they make a mean martini...

It is hit or miss at this place. I have had some good meals here over the years but last night spent a small fortune for a lousy meal. As many others have said, it is sad when ken's is considered the best restaurant in Akron. Ken, one word of advice, get rid of the ridiculously long list of specials your staff has to reel off 20 times per night. It takes away from overall service and you can't remember first item by The time they get to the last item! To summarize,, average food, average atmosphere with ridiculous prices! If you want a good steak go to diamond Grill. It lacks atmosphere but at least you know you're going to get a good meal each time you go there.

Food was good, not great. The service was terrible. The hostess interrupted our waiter three times to serve food at the next table while he was describing the specials and taking our order. I've never experienced that before! The food was served in shifts, didn't include everything described on the menu and they forgot a side dish. The hostess was eating a plate of food at the reception stand. As soon as it hit 10 pm the managers and hostesses sat down at the table next to us with a bottle of wine and several plates of food. It was like we were interrupting their private party. Hey Ken, it's a very different place when you're not there!

You think this place is pretentious so you don't want to go. Then you decide your boyfriend should have a good, last birthday in his 20's dinner. You sit there and make fun of all the pinky's up in the air but secretly you are loving it all. And before I piss you off, I'll stop and talk in 1st. ;) KS is right down the road but because of the price and our very laidback attitude we didn't think that was our kind of place. But on a birthday dinner and $200 later we fell in love. KS is cozy and comfortable but they still keep it classy and make you feel like you're getting your $$ worth. We did appetizer, salads, main coarse with a trio of 3 steaks for each of us some sides, desserts and drinks. For the amazing food and service $200 was definitely not as painful as I thought it would be. Only complaint, I get a bit tiresome during long meals. 2+ hours later, oy. NOW, the best thing about KS is WED and Friday night until 9 they have 1/2 off apps in the bar area. STEAL. BEST.DEAL.EVER. Portions are still the same and quality is just as good. This is a steal as we walk out stuffed with drinks for easily under $40, if not $30. Fav is the pizza, sliders, truffle fries and calamari. Also their hand rolled sushi is delic too!

The environment was nice, the food could be better for the price that the restaurant is set up for!

  • Rebecca T.

Had the burger and fries. $19? OK, show me. NOT. Truffle fries were cold and tasted like frozen. When we said they were not good, the server whisked them away and replace them with NOTHING. Our bill? Full price. I said to the server, I hate to take out bad food on good service. She took the bill away. It came back $2 off. That is when I tipped her $2. Ken Stewart? I'm sure there are no shortage of suckers who receive their self esteem by overpaying for your common food. I'm not one of them. You, pal, are a boor.

I took my mother here for her birthday because she always talked about wanting to come and I had never tried it out either. Let me say this is an awesome place for a birthday dinner. My mom had a 10oz fillet Oscar style and I ordered the fillet trio. AMAZING. Once the meal came out...complete silence. We also split the pumpkin bread pudding with whiskey sauce and ice cream and still couldn't finish! We can't wait to go back and our waitress Kelsey was the best!!!!

If I were sitting in Akron, Ohio and someone asked me "hey, I'm taking you out to dinner tonight, you can pick ANYWHERE in Akron" I would definitely say Ken Stewart's. The food isn't particularly inventive, but it is delicious. High-end classics, done well. My favorite place in the restaurant is the bar. The bartenders are friendly and informative with questions. The environment is chummy with a lot of regulars... usually older people, but they match the decor so really it's all part of the aesthetic. Though smoking indoors has been outlawed in Ohio for years now, the haunting stench of cigars smoked after making big (rubber?) deals lingers. I'm not a fan of smoking, but again, it's all about the slightly vintage ambiance (and not in a forced hipster way, either). The entire restaurant always has ever-changing specials, but there are often bar-only specials to be had. One time they had lobster tails fries for $19. The best is the $1 blue point oysters on weekdays. My favorite thing to do after I get my hair done is to stop by for a dozen oysters and some chardonnay-- lookin' all pretty while slurping mollusks is the COOLEST.

Ken Stewarts is really just OK. I went here on a date with my boyfriend and we expected some pretty incredible food after all the hype surrounding this restaurant. However, for the price that you pay, the food is mediocre at best. Drinks are ridiculously overpriced and instead of paying for one meal, you must pay for your entree and overpriced sides separately. Our waitress also seemed to be a bit harried and...well insane. She was overly attentive, refusing to leave us to our cozy date and constantly interrupting our conversation with odd comments. There are definitely a lot better restaurants in Akron to go to for the money. I would rather choose Bricco or Edgar's any day.

Very good. Had the ahi tuna with the house salad (large) and edamame with a kettle one martini (everything listed comes with the tuna, minus the martini of course). About 48 bucks before tip. Didn't have any apps or desert. Good service. I sat at the bar.

Michael G says "geriatric"...not sure what he ordered, but suggest he try again. Our visits have included Kobe beef and seared Ahi. Servers are the best ever. Decor, top notch ( love the quirky art). Yes, it's pricey, but not stuffy or exclusive feeling....more like a cozy pub.

Its a nice restaurant. As one the reviewer, putting orange grape and parsley is way dated in the 80's. Our waitress is friendly but took a long time to order our drinks and dinner. Our appetizer came out before she took the drink order and dinner order. The fried pickles appetizer is really good. The hand breaded pickle is really crunchy and fried to perfection. The seafood tower appetizer is very good. It's a small one and it's very pricey. The presentation is okay. They should use a smaller platter to make it more appealing instead of seeing mostly crushed ice. The crab claw tasted the best. Mussels were done perfection. Huge shrimp. The blue point oyster is really good. Two of us ordered the mixed grill specials which consist of fillet, rack of lamb and grilled shrimp. I ordered my meat medium rare but came out medium well. Not much of a pink meat on either the fillet or lamb. It came with the big slice of orange and grape garnish. A nice generous heaping of fried onions. The sauce that came with the fillet is unusual, roasted garlic, mushroom and balsamic vinegar. It's a little too sweet to match with beef. The shrimp is done very nice. Juicy and succulent with spicy cream sauce on the bottom. The rack of lamb seasoned very well, sitting on a bed of arugula and tomato relish. The mixed grill went for $70.00.Food is delicious with the mixed grill. I would say the flavor of the beef is better than Hyde Park Grille. Its a little pricey. Our third person in the party didn't order a full dinner. Just couple sides. Beet salad and baked potatoes. After 2 hours in the restaurant and eating, we were too full for dessert. Its a place that I been there and really satisfied my meat cravings for a while. I am not sure how to rate KSG. The food is good. My taste bud is a fan but my wallet is not. It's not a place I can eat there on a regular basis.

Another round of great dinner. Service was great, and KS stopped by to say "hi" and wished for happy holiday. Nice. It's very laid back, though decor is a little "off"...it was Xmas season, but somehow I felt like I was in grandma's house, not a fancy place to dine.

  • Ayad R.

awesome bread budding that's enough the seasonal...pumpkin bread-pudding...didn't "do it," but...i'll give 'em a pass for that well, i guess i shouldn't -- keep the regular...on the menu,...at all times

My friend and I bopped into Ken Stewart's Grille after a lifetime of hearing about this Akron legend. Though it was after 2 p., we were welcomed at the bar and thrilled by their innovative menu and thick wine list. Bargain alert! All Ken Stewart brand wines were $5.00/generous glass. Yes, ma'am, I shall try one, thank you very much! And the food - ahh! A salmon caesar could have been a B or worse elsewhere, but here: perfection. Topping a nice-sized bed of perfectly-seasoned romaine was a nice 4 oz. loin of salmon. Well-prepared and fresh. The garlicky croutons were a hit too. Would we like dessert? Well, yes we would and we split a huge portion of bread pudding with whisky sauce that put new meaning in the word "amazing". Love the vibe and will return for sure. It's even worth a 40-minute drive from The Cleve! P.S. Our server was hilarious, bright, efficient and possessed of a sunny personality. She acted like she enjoyed serving us. Imagine!

We didn't plan on stopping here, but the place I'd picked out was closed, so we drove out Market street, and on seeing this I pulled in here knowing something of this place by reputation. A fortunate decision. I'd lived in the Akron area for twenty three years, but had never been here before. Knowing it was an expensive place had kept me away. But the food is wonderful. I had a sun dried tomato crusted grouper which was excellent. My wife had a lobster something salad which she loved, and french onion soup. The soup had me concerned though, as I thought I was going to have to pry the bowl off her face as she was enjoying it so! The one thing I miss from Akron that I can't get in Toledo is Sauerkraut Balls. So when I saw them on the menu we had to have them. They weren't the best I've ever had, but I loved them. We will be back.

When you're the last table to be seated in a restaurant, you always roll the dice of landing a bitter server who was almost done with their shift when some jackass came in at closing time. While we were those jackasses, we had quite the opposite experience. Not only did have splendid food, spectacular service (Vicky) but we were also graced with a brief visit from Mrs. Stewart and her daughter--delightful friends of the family, who very kindly purchased a bottle of wine for the table. Everything from the eclectic décor to the imaginative menu (fried pickles as an appetizer) and lengthy wine list makes Ken Stewart's a staple for the Akron community. The reason for dining this time around was the first time my partner's family had all been together since the previous Christmas (almost a full year). Some of the culinary highlights I see as "can't misses" were the potato crusted halibut, the fried pickles appetizer, the corn side (unless you order the halibut which comes with it) and the seasonal bread pudding (Thanksgiving is fittingly pumpkin). All in all a stellar restaurant experience. If you like this location, you'll also enjoy Ken Stewart's other restaurants--particularly the Lodge.

Still a great place! Service is amazing as usual, a lost art among the trade. im happy this place is still around after so many years, it really is hard to find service and quality such as this!

After reading mixed reviews I gave this place a shot. Best steak I've had in awhile! Luckily I got the sauce on the side because the steak was so good, sauce would have ruined it!! Definitely will return. Definitely has an old money feel to it.

Very good cuisine but overpriced for the overall experience. Amended: Ken Stewart's Grille is just right in so many ways. Great staff, comfortable atmosphere, unhurried, fantastic food - I've now been coming here for years and it's completely won me over.

Food was good. Tables to close together.Could not have a conversation. To loud. Felt like I was sitting with people next to me. Prices to high, which.would be ok if better atmosphere. Will not go back.

Nice variety on the menu! We went wanting steaks, KSG did not disappoint. They had several to choose from on the menu and a couple more as specials. I had heart set on the trio of filets, three 3oz filets with varying sauces, my favorite was a portabello topped with a port wine Demi. However there were many things I wanted to try that beckon us back for more visits, Chilean sea bass, twin pork chops on and on. Started with baked Brie app, it was very tasty could have been hotter, I really enjoy Brie that is super melty and darn near runny. The French onion soup is fantastic, uncontrollably cravable, fantastic broth and cheese. And great croutons, still crispy in the soup! For dessert we enjoyed the brandies cherries over ice cream. The service was professional, friendly and attentive. I was disappointed in the attire of the guests... Sat night and jeans and sweatshirts and ballcaps? Come on, I realize it's a "grille" but let's respect the Saturday night out! Even so, go to KSG enjoy a nice dinner!

This place is seen as the cream of the crop and unfortunately it acts like it is. I've been a number of times, once with family, once for school and once with my husband for my birthday. Each experience was a totally different one. When we went as a family the service was spot on, food was good and everyone left full happy and poorer. But the time that my husband and I went we were treated so badly that it left a sour taste in my mouth. We were young and probably looked the part. I'm sure the server thought that since we were young we wouldn't know how to tip or something like that but really? We expected to be treated like everyone else in the place and we were really disappointed to find out that the service level was not standard. Food is OK, decent for Akron but really there are much better places that are cheaper. I'll never go back.

After years of hearing about KSG, the opportunity arose to have a rarity- a business dinner during the weekend-in Akron. Drove down 77 from the CLE with my companion to meet up with 5 others. I would definitely make the trip again. Just a nice, classic, well-run white tablecloth restaurant that understands who and what they are. First, our waiter was extremely knowledgeable and thoroughly described the extensive special dishes. Appetizers were great-Baked Brie, calamari, scallop special-all prepared right and visually appealing as well. My table -prepared Caesar salad was brought to me complete but looked and tasted scratch-made. Now for the steak- a 10 ounce special served with Gorgonzola sauce-quite simply one of he best I've had anywhere. Seriously did not need a steak knife-a butter knife would have easily cut through this delicious cut. Way to go Akron and KSG!- I had such a great experience I might forgive you all for putting up those "Home of LeBron James" signs at the city limits!
