Tried the place on whim before class. I'd have to say I much prefer JJ's to the Subway across the street. The place is clean, bright, and comfortable. Food is pretty darn good (for what it is....I'm not looking for high-end food when I go into a sub shop). Really love that they have the lettuce wrapped sandwiches for those of us who don't eat bread. The Beach club, Hunter's club, and the Country club are the best sandwiches on the menu. If, like me, you leave off the bread, you're typically looking at a 200-400 calorie meal (the bread adds an easy 300 calories). I usually eat JJ's when I need a light meal (I generally try to eat the bulk of my calories at breakfast/lunch and then eat lighter for dinner. Of course, if like Zack, you're inclined to get the largest sandwich on the menu....then yeah, you'd probably be better off getting the BK Whopper....but I'm pretty sure regardless of calories, fresh food beats fast food.

I went here with my team for lunch one day, and I have to say, this sandwich was 100 times tastier than any former JJ attempt I've made. My only complaint was they thought I said "no tomato" when I actually said "no mayo" on my vegetarian sandwich. There is a decent amount of seating if you can figure out the diagonal parking and fancy meters. There are even a couple of tables on the street. The staff is friendly!

Never. Again. So I was starving and broke. Decided to give them another shot. It will be their last. First, i always order online because you can store preferences. I specifically request no tomatoes on my sandwiches because I'm allergic, and ask that they double check my order before delivering. For the FIFTH TIME, they brought me a sandwich stuffed with tomatoes. I called the store and explained. The manager offered to give me a discount on my next order. I refused it and asked that my sandwich be remade and redelivered, as I couldn't eat the one I had without breaking out in hives and vomiting. Thirty minutes later, the replacement sandwich arrived. I ate it. An hour later, i got a stomach ache. Eleven hours later, I'm STILL running to the bathroom. That sandwich was the only thing i ate all day, with a bottle of Dasani. Never. Again.

My sandwich was great today. Wish it would be cut in half, but otherwise it was great!

Very convenient since one can order online and have the food delivered. I ordered their tuna sandwich twice; the second time, it gave me a very severe case of dysentery that lasted several days. (nuff said)

Love the fresh sub rolls they make their sandwiches on! The size of their subs are large and everything is always very fresh. I work downtown and we often order lunch from here, and everyone likes it.

Wasn't bad but wasn't all to good. Would of rather went to subway. Pickle was prolly the best part of the meal.

I'm not much of a cold sandwich person but Oh Jimmy's, you make a sandwich sooooooo good. Sometimes when I cannot decide what is for dinner a quick trip here is the winner. Fresh and so fast. I always wondered how they can make a sandwich so fast but subway is so dang slow- even when you aren't toasting a sandwich. BTW- head to 69 Taps for super happy hour friday and call and order a sub. They will deliver it to you :) WIN!

I eat here all the time and have never had anything to complain about. JJs is much better than Subway in just about every way.

Jimmy John's is the "American Dad" of subs: it is so, so, so much better than Subway, yet it only gets 1/10 of the customers the 8 cajillion Subways near Downtown Akron receive. To be fair, "American Dad" isn't that much better than "Family Guy" and is quite popular, so that wasn't really a good analogy there. Anywho, I digress. Jimmy John's opened up a few years ago when 22 Exchange opened up for the college students who would rather spend $700/month to live above nightclubs and bars than spend $400/month to live in off-campus campus. I tried that out with a friend I had who lived there. My first experience was with a sandwich called the J.J. Gargantuan, a thick 8" sub stuffed with salami, capicola, roast beef, ham, and turkey. This sandwich was good enough to get Jared Fogle off of his gimmicky "Subway diet" and unhealthy and addicting enough to get him back into the size 64 pants that he probably misses. According to their web site, the J.J. Gargantuan has 988.14 calories, 54.33 grams of fat, 167 mg of tasty cholesterol, and 2892.82 mg of sodium. In other words, you're better off having a Whopper. I've never had a problem with Jimmy John's. It also helps that they deliver and have a pretty wide service area. Their strategy for growth is to set up shop in college towns and work from there, so anybody going to college should be within a few miles of a Jimmy John's (hooray?). When I move away from Akron, Jimmy John's will be one of the things I'll miss.

One thing I can say is that I honestly believe this place is in business solely because it's open almost all night and they deliver their sandwiches. Can't beat a delivered sandwich. That being said the sandwiches are all pretty mediocre and bland. Italian is the best I've had so far. But it certainly isn't bad, and it's cheap, so when those late night munchies come knockin', call jim.
