I have been dining here for years, and this is always one of my favorite places to dine when I return to town. Each dish I've tried has been delicious, including the V9 vegetable soup, Jafar's pitza, Foole M Damas, hummus, and tabouli. Their Schawarma is good by stateside standards. I did not partake of any Vino on this last trip, however in the past I have had some of their dark red Lebanese wine, which was every bit as good as a particular $200 bottle I am known to covet. The tastiness is a mystery. Speaking of mystery, Aladdin's somehow as an atmosphere that works for an intimate meal with friends, a romantic outing, and lunch with kids. How is that possible? I am so glad that I got to visit and dine here on my last trip, and am looking forward to the next time.

Best hummus around!! Don't ever buy the store bought, just get Aladdin's take out. I'm addicted. The people here are always super friendly and helpful and fast. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

I've dined at another Aladdin's location several times in the past, so I had preconceived expectations. I can't comment on the interior atmosphere, as my date and I ate outside, which was quite nice. Our waiter was helpful with the menu and made sure we were doing OK throughout the meal without pestering us. We ordered the Vegetarian Combo; the hummus was delicious, but I can't say that we were crazy about any of the other items. She ordered the Farmer's Pitza (not listed on the menu) and said, "It was delicious!". I ordered my usual Spicy Kafta Rolled and it did not disappoint.

I had the chicken pita roll with humus and it was delicious. They have this great house sauce that the chicken is marinated in that taste great...and the make everything fresh from organic veggies.

Yummmmm. Aladdin's was such a pleasant find. The food is all appropriately priced and cooked to perfection. I'm a huge fan of middle eastern food and aladdin's doesn't disappoint. I've gone back twice for the falafels and they are always perfectly spiced. Jasmine's favorite is a go-to. The rolled pitas are good too. And the cakes are such a treat. Glad we found this gem.

Ordered the lentil soup and falafel wrap and was pleasantly surprised by how delicious they were. Portions were pretty large too. I forgot our server's name, but he was wonderful--super friendly. The Highland Square location has a big patio. It's a nice touch.

The tuna steak (or was it tuna shawarma?) "rolled" was one of the best sandwiches/wraps I've had, ever. Delicious. Lots of meat, supplemented just right with a minimal accent of of veggies & sauce. The blueberry cheesecake was good but not as rich & dense as what I was hoping for.

Everything is so flavorful and aromatic. The service is always great. One of my favorite places to eat.

Great and friendly service! We had a pretty big group coming here for a weekday dinner, and everybody liked the food. I had the lamb kebob and it was really tender and flavorful. They give you soooo much food, everybody was happily stuffed!

We love the baba and veggies. JT (lil guy] likes the fruit plate with grilled pita & cheese.

The Strip location in Canton, OH is open! It is wonderful as expected. Very friendly greetings and samples of baklava on counter (you can tell it's made with real butter). I got grape leaves and hummus. So glad the cashier suggested hot sauce, it's delicious too! Picked up a bag of their wonderful pitas. 6698 Strip Ave NW, N Canton, OH 44721.

Best Aladdin's location, bar none. :) Service is consistently great, food is always perfect and comes out as it should. Definitely my favorite out of the whole bunch.

I love this place! Really small restaurant but food is always good. Pick up the chicken curry roll for lunch for only $4.99.

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, I just don't like Mediterranean food and they offer no alternatives. :( Dessert is wonderful though.

Okay, I'll preface this by saying that Aladdin's is, by far, my favorite chain. And perhaps restaurant. IN THE KNOWN UNIVERSE. The Highland location, however, is lacking. I've noticed a considerable decline in the food quality over the last year. Has management changed? Hummus + hotsauce is still delicious, but the salads started tasting like they've been left out overnight. Gross. So I've switched back to wraps, which have been bland, stale, and lukewarm. Service is also, um, a little lackluster. But the patio is nice! At least when there are no (cue Nic Cage voice) BEEEEEEEES. Sigh. Even though this place is literally a walk down the street, I'd rather drive to the Hudson or Montrose location for my Aladdin's fix.

  • Jessica D.

This Alladin's is great! We always get the most pleasant servers here. I almost always get the Alladin's chicken pizza. They only have bowls of soup and nothing smaller. The waitress graciously brought me a sample so I wouldn't be stuck with a whole bowl if I didn't like it. The baklava was delicious and they always have coffee ready any time of day. I have two gripes. One- that the wine is significantly more expensive than the beer prices. Two- the location is a turn off to me. I'd love to get take out more often but the shopping complex is so busy I usually opt for somewhere else. It's really a toss up between 4 and 5 stars here.

This is one of my favorite chain restaurants. I love the hummous. I love the lamb platter with garlic sauce. I had the grape leaves app today. They were very good. Stuffed with rice, chick pea and parsley topped with feta. Gf had the falafel salad. I got to try a bit. It was pretty good. This is a pretty small spot. It also has a lot of hard surfaces so the sound bounces. This place is fairly loud from just conversations taking place. I do like the patio in the summer. It's nice to dine outside. This patio is on the road which is not ideal.

  • Emma D.

DELICIOUS. This is the best falafel I have ever eaten. My parents and I frequent Aladdin's whenever I am in town. We always get the vegetarian combo, which features baba, hummus, pita, grape leaves, tabouli, and falafel. Food is always fresh and delicious. I love the lentil soup and no visit is complete without it. The restaurant offers a wide variety of vegan and vegetarian options, which is great news for me! The desserts are also superb and the beverages are quite tasty. I enjoy the pomegranate green tea.

Smaller in size than Youngstown location but in a cuter neighborhood. Appetizers still just as awesome. Go for the baba ganoush. Lebanese salata and tabbouleh a hit.

  • Michael B.

Delicious food! I've never been disappointed. Typically, its the chicken-len chili with cheddar and an Aladdin's Lamb Rolled. The hummus is great! We usually get the Baba and split it. I've never left anything less than pleased. Also, they've got carry-out available which is usually quick as well. A lot of folks think this is "weird food" but give it a shot. Years ago I probably thought the same, but I tried it and fell in love with its great flavored, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Oh BTW Highland Square Aladdin's better than Fairlawn Aladdin's in every way!

  • Plinio G.

Ok, but unremarkable. The salad as are small. I ordered a shush kabob salad, and the taste was ok. Service was ok too.

Hummus with hot sauce! Wonderful local spot when the outdoor patio is open. Also a great choice for carry out.

This branch of Aladdin's Eatery is a local hangout for many residents of Akron's West Hill. During the warmer months their patio is opened for dining and it's a great way to have a nice meal while people watching in the Highland Square neighborhood. The eatery is a cozy restaurant, which can get crowded during peak dining hours. Their wait staff is efficient and knowledgeable. The food is tasty, fresh and always comes out in a timely manner. If you're in the mood for some mediterranean food, I do suggest you give Aladdin's a shot.

    (3)
  • Jen E.

That hot sauce. Wow! So good. Their chicken salad is also extraordinary. Unfortunately, the service is either a perfect A+ OR a seething, burdened D-. I've learned to just do carry-out.

  • Ajay S.

Aladdin's Eatery is a nice middle eastern restaurant. i was in town and tried the chicken on jasmine rice, which was quite good, and I liked the Hummus. The only thing I didn't care for was the pita bread, which was thin and difficult to chew. I didn't think it was stale, just very dry. I recommend they change the pita with either a softer bread or chips. Then this would add another star.

Once in awhile you have amazing service. Service thats so good you don't even know it's happening & yet days later you are still marveling at the ease of the whole experience. Not to mention in a most unexpected place. I had one of those days at Aladdins on Saturday. Of course you are probably here about the food, so let me skip to that - delicious as always. Ordered my usual hummus (with hot sauce) and kibbie. The kibbie arrives hot & from experience I know how delicious it is & can barely wait for it to cool to eat it! Protein in a guilty pleasure = perfect. Fresh pita that is readily replenished to accompany every last bit of hummus, also perfect (as always.) But it was the service that has prompted this effort days later. Conversational, but only until the other party arrived, asked IF I wanted to wait I order, didn't assume, offered more water & tea to the bitter end. Oh & I didn't want to wait to order, I was so hungry! And yet I can't even really tell you when it all happened. Absolutely graceful!

I love the selections at Aladdin's. They have many gluten free, healthy options. I'm not a huge fan of their hummus or pita but their tuna salad and service have always been great. The pomegranate green iced tea is fabulous! I hope they revamp their pita and hummus because it is disappointing that a place that should specialize in it isn't.

  • Paul H.

The food was good, but not great. The best dish we had was the babaganouj, which I'd call excellent. I took off a point for slow and inattentive service. We had to ask before silverware was brought to us, and had to ask twice for some drinks we'd ordered. This was my second time dining in Akron. It took some searching to find a restaurant near downtown that was open on Sunday. Fortunately, this one (a minor chain) was open. General comment: I can't believe that most restaurants in Akron warrant four stars.

  • Sarah E.

My go-to lunch place! I love the vegan-friendly menu and the staff are so attentive. Their hummus and hot sauce are the best I've ever had. I also love the soup selection -- how fun is it to mix two soups in the same bowl for a unique flavor combination? My friends and I go here both to eat in and for take-out when we're working late at the University.

  • Douglas S.

Had great service...I even got extra hummus when I mentioned I was craving it. I like the tone of the restaurant. Everyone looked like they were enjoying themselves. Had a salad pita...that poor pita was bursting at the seams with all the ingredients they put in it. Messy, but tasty.

I've lived here 22 years, and I've never been here. I feel disgusted with myself. That is, until I went with a few good friends and a total stranger here to celebrate surviving Akron and moving on to grad school in a better place. The layout is on the small side, but they have a cute patio out front and it is a great place to people watch - you know, if you like seeing hipsters and homeless people walk by all the time. They sell cakes in the front, and those looked scrumptious. The radio in the restaurant played Middle Eastern music, which is just a guitar playing the same four or five notes in the Phrygian dominant scale over and over again - more interesting than listening to the same four or five notes played by, say, Nickelback for an entire career. We started off with the hummus and we ordered a side of their hot sauce, which tasted like they blended Italian dressing with Tobasco. The hummus was great, but nothing to rave to my family and friends about. Next, I ordered the Shishtawook Rolled Pita. It was definitely not pita-ful (sorry, I couldn't help myself with the corny pun). The chicken was grilled and tasted fluffy. It's their seasonings that really get to you, though. They sure know how to flavor their meat. The assortment of veggies inside the pita tasted authentic, meaning that it was good. I didn't vomit at the taste of the olives, which means that I'm either growing up or every olive I've ever had was terrible - I'm leaning towards the latter. Finally, being the piggy that I am, I took a bite of my one friend's pita pizza. I thought that it was overkill with the feta cheese, but overall it was decent. This is a great place for a date or just to hang out and chill. While there are flaws, they are small and a lot of people won't notice them. If you decide to come here, it is sure to be a very memorable experience.

As a former Highland Square resident, I don't think I could have lived without this place. I have never been disappointed with their food or service. Their Ariyass Pitza (pita pizza) is my absolute favorite. They really need to bring their locations down south!! I do agree, they do need to expand the place. It can get pretty crowded there at times.

Love this place! Hummus is amazing. All salads, rolleds and majadura are delicious.

  • Sara D.

I go to many of the Aladdin's locations in the area, but this one remains my favorite. I like the sidewalk-cafe ambience of it. It is a lot smaller than many of their other locations though, and you may end up waiting if you go at peak lunch/dinner times. I love all the rolled pitas, with the chicken curry being a personal favorite. It's "barely there" curry, which I appreciate, because curry overkill is the worst. I've also had the lamb and falafel, both of which get the thumbs up. The salads are very good and fresh. Their honey mustard and sesame dressings are not like any others I've tried. For lunch, sometimes I get the banana, milk, & honey smoothie, which I adore. I can typically eat here for $9 or less. I really like that this is a place I can meet up with vegetarian & vegan friends and everyone can leave happy. They also have a killer dessert case--I've never tried anything but their huge cheesecakes look amazing and are very tempting.

Unbelievable hummus, hot sauce and taboulie. Their chargrilled tuna salad is also fantastic, as well as many of their other salads. They have a nice outdoor patio as well, and since the restaurant is located on Highland Square (which is super convenient) there's some great people watching. They serve beer and wine too, which is nice. Their prices are really great and the serving sizes are large. With that being said, the service here is totally hit or miss. Some of the servers are really great, others are absolutely terrible. And the restaurant is simply not clean. I continue to go because I love the healthy and delicious food and the location is wonderful, but avoid looking into the kitchen if you check it out.

Coming from Columbus, I adore the Aladdin's on High Street. I'm a vegetarian, and my fiancée and I recently moved to the area, so I decided to check and see if the Akron branch was up to par. The server's here, all of them were female, there was not one male working in the store, haha, were very friendly. The downside was that our sever came over multiple times and failed to notice empty drink glasses, and when we tried to say something before she left again, she would be gone mid sentence. My fiancée went about twenty minutes with an empty cup. Other than that, the food was warm and tasty (as always). We had vegetarian chili, lentil soup, and he had a pita pizza with falafel and I had a falafel pita wrap. Prices are on the more expensive side of cheap, or the cheaper side of classy. Good place for a date or when you want a nice dinner.

The chicken shawerma meat was expired and it was obvious by the smell. The Kiba (meat balls) was below average and not authentic at all. Safiha is good and mixed grilled was okay (make sure you ask for well-done meat if you are middle-eastern). The service is bad (the waiter was breaking of to enjoy his lunch and come back wiping his lips)

wow, this brings me back... i haven't been here in let's say.... 7 years? but i still remember it enough to remember the name and write a review this long after. my friend used to live across the street from this place and we would go all the time. i got the chicken salad salad with their sesame dressing, it's amazing. i miss it so much and if i EVER go back to OH... (he has since moved), i will definitely make a point to stop here. yummmyyyy!!!!

My wife and I are traveling through Ohio and stopped to visit friends here in Akron. After a day of highway food stops, this was an incredible treat. Very fresh food, cooked to perfection. We loved it!

This used to be a 3 star place but then they became chain-y and changed how they prepare some of their items and I've been disappointed. Its a small place in Highland Square, cool to eat outside when the weather cooperates, great people watching.

  • Ingrid S.

This might be the only chain restaurant I would eat in, every day. The food is excellent and nutritious. The price is right too! This particular spot is popular. Fortunately they are open until 10pm. I wish there were more places like this.

This place is fantastic! I have been here a million times and never once have I been disappointed. The staff are so sweet and very attentive. The ambience and general feel of the place is wonderful. It is small though, and I agree with another reviewer that they should expand! But it is a very romantic place so it would be perfect for dates. My table is the one by the window because the people-watching is fantastic while scarfing down delicious Mediterranean food. The outdoor seating is great too, especially on warm summer nights. This place is a melting pot when it comes to the customers. The artsies, the trendies, the wealthies, and those in between. I just love the Highland Square area with all the great shops, bars, restaurants and cool people. It's a very comfortable place. Anyway, the pita ''pitza'' with the garlic sauce is orgasmic. Really. Try it for yourself!! My other favorites are the lamb shishtawook and chicken shishtawook, and I always get their hummus and pita bread with hot sauce. The pricing is wonderful and I really don't think anyone could leave this place disappointed.

We had gotten take-out food from Aladdin's Independence (OH) location back in 8/03 and were very pleased with the portions & delicious food - although that one is in a strip mall and has no ambiance, whereas this one is very cozy and pleasant. We happened to drive by the Akron location on a Saturday in 10/07 while exploring the lovely & charming Highland Square neighborhood and gladly stopped for dinner. The food was delicious, portions were generous, prices were very reasonable, and our server (a college student) was terrific & friendly. I complimented the manager afterwards and she was also very nice. Highly recommended! (Note: also see my review for the Angel Falls Coffee Company, which is just a few doors down from Aladdin's. Had we not decided to have dessert at Angel Falls, there were some very tempting dessert options at Aladdin's).

  • Eric R.

Good food, great drinks, comfortable environment while still relatively classy. A wide variety of food, notice the booklet for a menu. Not a large space, so you might avoid large numbers. Great location, surrounded by Highland Square, offering it's local stores and venues. Personally, I'd like to think of it as the Trader Joe'sâ„¢ of Middle Eastern food. You'll understand that when you go, or if you've ever been in a Trader Joe's.

Every time I go I get one thing, so I guess I'm not the best reviewer for this one BUT the Mediterranean Beef Kafta Plate with the Garlic Yogurt Dressing is THE most amazing dish ever. Aside from the horrible breath for the next day or 2 I am in love with this dish. The look of the beef isn't the most appealing, but once you dip it in that amazing garlic sauce you are taken to another world! The rice with vermicelli that it is served with is also wonderful, the pine nuts are always toasted just right and the cinnamon really adds to the flavor. Mix some of that garlic sauce into the rice too and its even more amazing!

I love Aladdin's! This is one of the things that I miss most about my hometown. Aladdin's has the feel of a restaurant in a big city, but is nestled into the cozy Highland Square neighborhood of Akron, Ohio. Their menu is excellent, and you really can't go wrong with anything you try. From their vegetable chili, to their "pitzas"- a pizza on a pita- to their pita pocket sandwiches, pita wraps, salads, and Jasmine's favorite rice entrees, everything on the menu is stellar. My favorites are their falafel and grape leaf appetizers, the hummus-shawarma plate, and the jasmine's favorite rice with shawarma. But I imagine that I have been to Aladdin's at least 50 times over the course of my childhood and young adulthood and have tried just about everything on the menu, and have never been disappointed. Plus...they have a very exciting dessert selection which varies by the day but always involves cake. Yum. A must-try and a true staple in Akron.

I have been absolutely in love with this place since I first walked in the door in 2007! The food, the staff all of it!! If I drive by my mouth waters even if I am NOT hungry. The food is fresh, healthy and delicious. Which is a winning combo in my book!!!!

When it's not busy, this place is the best. They make mediterranean food on par with any other place around...if there were other places, I suppose. Anyway, the food is good, it's cheap, and it has a great low-lit vibe. I can't say I like how close everyone has to sit. I don't like knocking knees with strangers. But really, it's a small price to pay for all the rest this place has to offer.

This place is good, which is a blessing because it is really the only option for middle eastern food in the area.

Okay - so after three hours of wine tasting (yes I know, I know - *IN OHIO* - shut it, already Bevis) where there were only snacky-bits to soak up seven glasses of vino - food was NECESSARY. It was a wonderful night and it was determined that it was necessary to find a place where we could not only obtain a more solid meal to sustain us in our evening of debauchery; but, one where we could sit outside and consume more wine. (Because - come on, Yelp - it is ME and these are MY FRIENDS... when have I ever really been done drinking wine at 8pm on a Friday night?) Now, I feel that I have to precede this by saying that I don't really like Middle Eastern food. I never got into babaganoush and falafel and hummus and the like. I occasionally will have a gyro (but, that is more Greek than Middle Eastern) - so I was skeptical when my HCWTBFF (Andy) suggested Aladdin's. Aladdin's is located in a neighborhood of Crackron called Highland Square. It is the artsy-fartsy neighborhood of the city, with one of Crackron's two true punk/dive bars next door; a indie-movie theater called (shockingly) The Highland; Mary-Coyle's ice cream parlor - which has been there since the 1940's and has some of the best ice-cream on the planet; and, a cadre of little, cool restaurants. I lived in Highland Square with my ex-husband in the early 90's. It's a cute, fun little place. ANYHOW: Back to Aladdin's. We got there and the place was packed. No bigs - we were waiting for some people in our party - we were content to wait a few minutes for a swank table out on the patio. Once we were seated we were quickly serviced by a sweet young lady (Aubrey) who didn't even flinch at how loud and silly our entire table was being... nerves of steel this one had. Granted, given our level of inebriation I'd say that we were pretty low to maintain as a table - just plop a couple of bottles of some 2005 Syrian wine in front of us and we were content as little kittens. I don't really remember what it was that I ordered (a lamb-wrap-something or another with a pickle and no onions - something like that) but, it was goooooddddd! Yum yum yum! And, cheap! Did I forget to mention cheap? Holy crap! My HCWTBFF had invited some friends from law school to join us - including my new GBFF (gay best friend forever), Jonathan and Rachel who grew up two blocks away from my parent's house & who's basically is my new OSBFF (old skool best friend forever.) Now, my OSBFF and I were on a check together and we ordered a bottle of wine, hummus and two dinners... Forty bucks. FORTY BUCKS. For a bottle of wine, an appetizer and two dinners? When I threw down the Andrew Jackson my OSBFF was like "Oh, are you sure?" (Because my dinner was way cheaper than hers.) Yeah, I was sure - I can't remember the last time when I went out and only spent $20... come on, OSBFF! I'm from THE CITY. Le cheap, cheap, cheap! So all else aside - the grub was good, the service was great, the check was cheap and the ambiance (80 degrees, not too humid, cute little neighborhood, pretty purple-pink-orangie sunset, wine, funny people) was FANTASTIC! Again, if you're ever in Crackron, Ohio?? Check out Aladdin's.

Yummy! good food and really cute patio. I always get an appetizer (hummous or baba, definitely with hot sauce), and then go for the soup -- Len chili usually but all are good. I've also had the wraps and my parents get various plates and have never been disappointed. I think my dad gets Jasmin's feast. I moved to southern CA and still get this when I go home (a compliment in itself considering the culinary options that I've become accustomed to in Cali). Also, they have Great Lakes beer :)

  • Devon H.

Just to add my opinion to what others have said: the food is *great*...not only great, but cheap too! My husband and I got the veggie appetizer and the pitzas...I was stuffed after the appetizer! The pitza alone, at 6 bucks, would have been enough to fill me up. The server we had was kind of standoffish. but the food was delivered relatively quickly, so I guess it evens out. Oh and the dessert selection? They place it right by th front desk and looked absolutely delicious!

  • Michael G.

I went to Aladdin's with the wifey and son. The food was less than stellar. Our server was rude, and my four year old had the pleasure of hearing some women swear and talk loudly about her thong. After the experience, I had the pleasure of dealing with the 18 year old manager when I found out they double charged my credit card. I will never go back.

  • Elle S.

the food is fabulous and while the service is less than steller, it's OK because getting your stuff TO GO is where it's at. the music is the same stuff over and over again (middle eastern tunes) and there isn't a lot of seating. the patio fills up quickly in the summer. try the loubie bzeit next time your get hummus/baba/pita. not to be missed: garlic sauce, hot sauce, fattoush.
