This was my favorite meal during my recent road trip through the southwest. The restaurant was nothing special on the outside, but the food and service were great. A good sign was locals meeting up here for dinner. My order of Chili Rellenos was perfectly fried and smothered in green chili sauce and queso. Others in my group loved the enchiladas, salads, and green chili burger. Salsa is freshly made, and it shows. I could tell that this place uses fresh ingredients in all of the foods they prepare. Waitress was very nice, and gets extra credit for patiently suggesting adjustments to menu items in order to accommodate gluten and diabetic needs. If I ever drive back through Tucumcari, NM, I will make a point to stop at the Rockin' Y's Roadhouse.
We stopped here based on the reviews I had read on yelp and were not disappointed. The green chili soup another yelper suggested was great. So was my chopped steak and hubby's meatloaf. Service was prompt. The restroom was clean.
This is a no-nonsense great diner. It has beer (Guiness) as well as other brews. The food is very good. I had a chopped brisket beef sandwich which has good. Their BBQ was a little sweeter than I prefer but it was tasty and had just the right amount of kick. They have an extensive list of sides. I had their fried okra, which was good. My wife had a chopper sirloin sandwich which was also good. I highly recommend their ice cream. They have very good ice cream that is made in New Mexico. Reminds me of ice cream I had when I was a kid that is no longer available in my state. The service was outstanding and my wife and I recommend this place.

Food was great, would have been nice to have a wifi password since there isn't a signal in Tucumcari. Waiter/owner very polite and courteous.
We stopped here by chance traveling across NM. I wanted huevos rancheros. Not on the menu, but they said they would do it. I got a beef and bean enchilada with two fried eggs. Delicious!! Very friendly people and good service. Diane was a delightful server.
By far the best food I've ever had anywhere, no joke!!

This review is also for the attached Tristar Inn (which I didn't see listed). Route 66 has become a sad empty place since Hway 40 came along, so we had no idea what we were getting into when we rolled into this place... Denise at the bar was a lovely break after a 13 hour day on the road. She assured us the inn was cleaner than any corporate chain down the street. We took a risk. She was right. Our room was clean, water was hot, service was stellar, friendly, down to earth. WE LOVED THIS PLACE. DRINK AT THE BAR AND STAY AT THE INN. One caveat: bar is cash only and they ain't got no ATM. That was a sad sad end to the evening. ONE HIGH NOTE: they let us charge a pizza from the bar to our room bill. Greatest people in hard-to-recall-the-name: Tucumcari, NM.
Lots of choices in Tucumcari and trust me, you could do a whole lot worse!! Trust the reviews on this one. It's clean and well kept. Bed is a little hard and the barcalounger was very uncomfortable, but for a safe hotel in basically a ghost town, it's a good, safe choice.
Not bad actually, it is a bed, a television and a shower. Normally i stay at hampton inns but decided to try this place to support local businesses and honestly, I'll stay again sometime, it really suprised me

Once again Priceline bidding to the rescue. Another hotel stop on our cross country road trip, another successful Priceline story, another small town in The Midwest. This hotel was pretty nice although we did find a dead moth in the bathroom. If you are looking for food, there is not much in this city..

They take their Bananna splits very serously here. More than enough for about 500 people, they are done up the old fashined way and just perffect. For regular ice cream lovers, the scoops are huge. I can't say much about the cafe fare, but it looked good!

The food was fair but I was disappointed with the overall experience. The child's "chicken strips entree" came with 1 strip that might have been 3inches long and about 1/2 inch wide--it was tiny and cost $4.95, to add a side costs .99. The quesadillas looked good but the chicken quesadilla had veggies I didn't like listed in the menu so I asked for the veggies that came on the spinach quesadilla instead. The waitress said no problem and never mentioned a charge for substituting veggies. In addition, her attitude with us was on the verge of smarty. When I got my ticket, she had charged me for a spinach quesadilla and added a $6 charge for a chicken breast. I would recommend sticking to the McDonalds, Sonic, or Pizza Hut in this town so you atleast know what to expect in the way of price and portions.
Online menu has chips and salsa at 3.49. Jerks!
My wife and I stopped by on our way to Flagstaff, AZ. Found Dels on yelp and based on the reviews, ate supper there. Place was crowded which is a good sign in any eatery. Wife had Mexican food, two chicken enchilladas which she declared were stuffed with vast amounts of chicken. She also had a chili rellano. She said everything was very good and has just commented that the salsa was excellent. I had two enchilladas, one ground beef and one cheese and two ground beef tac;os. Everything on my plate, like everything on the wife's was excellent. The meal was finished with sopapilla's and honey. A suitable ending to any mexican food meal. Would we eat there again? You betcha'.

Nice people, with very good and well kept tent sites. No fire rings and the usual highway noise, but super clean rest rooms and hot showers. Definitely worth the stop... Didn't have time to try the food, but they also had an extensive menu for their cafe. This one really deserves their President's award...
It is clean and staff is friendly but it is impossible to sleep in a tent due to highway noise. I should have known better as it is located adjacent to I-40.
Another great find...clean..very well run...if we had skipped the grocery store we would have made it in time for the dinner they serve which is supposed to be good..oh well...maybe next time...it's quiet ..enough off the interstate so that highway noise is minimum..I've heard way worse highway noise.....cool breeze blowing....

What a pleasant surprise this was! We got the recommendation from the folks at the Blue Swallow Inn to eat here so we listened and glad I did. When I 1st walked in, I was somewhat sceptical as I wasn't big on the appearance of the place. My opinion of that changed though the longer I was there. Each booth has a painting of locals sitting at the booth so it appears that someone is already seated there. It's a quirky little thing but fun. The menu is part Mexican part American grill. My mom and daughter ordered a steak and grilled pork chops. The grill side of the menu comes with soup and salad bar. The salad bar was small and had 2 different soups. The vegtable soup was homemade with real angus beef tips and was absoltely delicious. (I tasted my daughters who scarfed it down and had a 2nd bowl) The pork chops were grilled to perfection and came with 2 to the plate with 2 sides. All of this for 13.95. AN ABSOLUTE STEAL! My mom's NY strip was a little more but was equally good. My other daughter and I went for the Mexican side. I had the beef fajitas and she had the chichen tacos. The beef fajitas were the best I have ever had. The beef was actual sirloin steak and had a great grilled smokey beef flavor. The red bell peppers that it was served with were really sweet and not at all bland like most fajitas dishes I had. This is all served with sour cream, cheese, guac, pico, beans and rice. All Mexican entrees also come with chips and salsa(really spicy) and sopapillas. The Sopapillas were little pillows of pastry heaven. Oh and my beef fajitas were only 13.95! A great little treat on Route 66
We loved both if our entrees' from last night's dinner. Excellent chip and salsa to start... The salsa had the perfect spicy kick. Fresh, good portion sizes, nicely presented, and the flavor was excellent! Fun atmosphere with the wonderful murals on the wall and retro music overhead... Loved it all! A free shuttle is also available to pick you up and bring you back to your hotel in case guests don't want to drive. We still stop here again each time we come to town. This is one of our favorite cities...all retro with the nicest people and the main street has great colorful neon signs.
We arrived late in Tucumcarie and the wonderful folks at the Blue Swallow Hotel suggested the Pow Wow restaurant since it served food until 10. It's a fun funky little bar and grill. We loved it. The French dip was excellent and I have to say the Jalapeño burger was one of the best I've had in a while. Our waitress was super attentive and nice even that late. Good people. Excellent food.

Our 8 year old picked where we went for dinner tonight. She enjoyed the Chinese red paper lantern decor and the Buddha statues up front (a big gold laughing Buddha to left of cash register and an Indonesian Buddha tucked away in another corner) She enjoyed the experience. Now about the food... I am sad to say that I agree with the other reviews about the food quality. So, the takeaway here... you go here for the kiddos, not so much for mom and dad that have very modest expectations. We ordered: Shrimp lo mein, Mongolian beef, Steamed vegetables, Poo poo plater. The steamed vegetables and poo poo platter were more than adequate. The shrimp lo mein, not so much. The shrimp seemed a bit old and rubbery. The Mongolian beef had fantastic green bell peppers and onions. But the beef, I can't exactly put my finger on it, but the meat seemed a bit odd? It was just okay. I would not order the Shrimp lo mein, nor the Mongolian Beef again. Definitely skip those dishes and try something else if you end up eating here. The steamed vegetables (small "side dish" of broccoli, cabbage and thinly sliced carrot) were almost lukewarm, but free of any sauce or seasoning, not even salt or pepper, perfectly plain. If you are a plant strong Nutritarian, order a double side order! The salt & pepper and condiments are on the table.
Buffet weak. Veges good but low quality meats and poor quality sauces. Egge drop soup no flavor.
My husband and I stayed at the Econolodge for the night and wanted food from a place which delivered. Although this restaurant did deliver the prices were a bit expensive, the delivery was very slow, and it was the worst Chinese food I think I've ever had.
