My significant other and I had dinner at Socorro Springs during a short weekend trip. The restaurant had adequate parking and was situated in a good location relative to our motel. We had an awesome bruschetta appetizer, I had a red chile cuban sandwich with potato wedges (which are sort of pan fried/sauteed, not crispy) and my girlfriend had a green chile & pepperoni pizza, both of which were excellent. She also tried their creme brulee and enjoyed it quite a bit. All of our food arrived pretty quickly (less than 15-20 mins). Our server was attentive and both of our meals were great for the price. I enjoyed my meal and if I'm ever back in Socorro, I wouldn't hesitate to dine at Socorro Springs again.

Ordered their Ribeye steak and it was okay. Their beer is quite good. Service was good too.

SOOOO SLOW. Make sure you're not hungry when you arrive. By the time your server comes around, you will be. I had the sandwich special for lunch, which was very tasty, but poorly constructed. No way you could possibly get your hands on it for more than two bites without it falling apart, but that didn't matter because I couldn't possibly get my lips around it, it was stacked so high anyways. Again, yummy, just poorly executed. Grilled zucchini sticks were a nice alternative to fries. My friend had the smallest serving of chicken fajitas we've ever seen. They generously offer four tortillas, but only give you enough to fill one of them. The serving size I appreciated most, however, was the 10 oz and 3.5 oz beer options! Awesome. Whether you want to sample a few kinds without getting trashed or having to do an entire flight, or are just a lightweight and want a beer, but no DWI, these are perfect! How's that for a mixed review?

Practically everything's a chain in Socorro. You give directions by saying, "Turn right at the KFC by the Taco Bell". Walmart and Smith's are the only places to really shop for anything in town. However, there are a few local establishments that are quirky and amazing. I've only gone to Socorro Springs three times, and those were mostly with large mobs (between eight and 16). The wait staff were super friendly and always willing to accommodate us. The building is done in a very elegant adobe style and feels warm and inviting. They sometimes have live music in the courtyard! Though Socorro Springs is a brewery, I only tried their Apricot Wheat Ale, which is light and very flavorful. Their margaritas are made with wine instead of tequila, but are lovely and not too sweet. Their menu really is where this place shines: penne pasta with tequila, calazones, pizzas, corned beef... finally, the chocolate mouse is not to be missed. If you're driving along I-25, stop here. You won't regret it.

I love this place! A definite must-stop for my visits to Socorro. This time, I got the spinach artichoke dip (yummy) and mac and cheese with salmon. Very good! Also tried some of their local brews. I was very impressed with the wait staff. This place has nice open seating and is comfortable and casual. Probably pricier than other spots in town, but it's worth it!

This is probably the best restaurant in Socorro. I had the Buffalo Burger, cooked rare, with blue cheese and prosciutto. It was heavenly. It washed down well with one of their dark brews. The employees were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely eat and drink here again.

I've eaten here twice and I have to say this place is really good. Being on a special diet, I'm limited to what I can eat and was pleasantly surprised to find a true buffalo burger on the menu. The staff was very friendly and accommodating when I asked for special preparation of my meal on both occasions. I'm holding back one star because of that "Brewery/Yeasty" smell that I detest, but I've learned to accept that when you eat in a brewery.

If you are looking for boring food, don't come here! This micro brewery is as good as any for beer and compares to all but the best brewery restaurants for food. Pints are reasonably priced at about $4.25. But Tues special is a pint and pizza for $10 - a great deal. The ambiance is spartan, but not harsh with art work on the walls. The IPA is as good as you can get anywhere. The pizza is thin with innovative toppings and about $8-12. I had the Black and Blue (blue cheese with crumbled steak). Nice. You can get half sized pasta portions, which are still generous. I tasted the lasagna and it was perhaps a touch too cheesy, but still very worthwhile. Salads are fresh with apparently homemade dressings. For dessert, the creme brulee and the taramisu are both well worth the $4-6 price. Service was friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was casual. I am guessing that this is easily the best restaurant in Socorro.

Socorro is a small town which makes it hard to maintain any sort of restaurant more complicated than a Denny's. SSBC does a fine job. The menu covers pizza, calzones, burgers, steaks, and occasional specials. The spinach artichoke dip or the red chili hummus are both interesting appetizers. My favorite pizza there is the Elfego (green chili and pepperoni) named for a former sheriff in Socorro county. Make sure you try the creme brulee or the parfait for dessert.

I had the Rio Grande calzone, a veggie calzone filled with goat cheese, ricotta, spinach, roasted red peppers and artichoke hearts. It was truly delicious though it took a long time (around 45 minutes) for the food to arrive.

Well, the food was not that good, I have to say. Even tho my girlfriend and I were treated very good and the beer was excellent (it's a microbrewery and I had an awarded lager), the food we ordered was bad. I got the Caballero Calzone that was full of chuncky chiles, overspiced and covered with a too-salty tomato sauce. My Girlfriend liked the veggie Lasagna, but I thought it was plain. We had a creme broulette that was very good, but that was it. Go there for the beers, not for the food.

Been a customer for 9 years, since they were located on the Socorro Plaza. Back in the good ole days, their menu selections were limited and their location was sub-prime...but the food was simply outstanding then and their microbrews were the best in the southwest (and brewed on premises). Nowadays, since they changed their address and went uptown, nothing works any more. Their old eggplant calzone...gone! Their old roast beef sandwich on fresh ciabatta...gone! Their old Greek salad...gone! Oh, on-premises-brewed beer...frickin' GONE. Now they brew stuff up in Colorado somewhere and Socorro is almost an after-thought for its distribution...they won't even honor their own growlers because their in-town supply is "limited". Stopped by there today...they ran out of their own root beer yesterday. Their "World Class Burger" was served on a stale toasted bun that fell apart in crumbled pieces after my first bite. Ordered the burger medium, and the center was still raw (uncooked) meat. A mere shadow of its former GREAT self. Seems the owners got too big for their britches and completely forgot their roots. I won't be returning.

I only stopped in to have a few drinks with friends, but it was a good use of my time. Their beer selection is excellent -- I have to echo a previous reviewer's affinity for the Vienna -- but they have other, non-alcoholic drinks as well. Pizzas seem to be the big food to get there, although I did not sample any. It closes at 10, but they'll keep on serving you after that if you've already showed up. At the bar they had two TVs, so I was able to watch some World Cup replays while having a drink. My waitress stopped by whenever our drinks got low. Drink prices were reasonable, although a little pricey.

Good selection of various kinds of food ranging from pizzas, lasagnias, regular plates, large salads, and so forth. As you'd expect from a brew-pub, there are many kinds of beer on tap. Their beer menu is informative: it lists alcholic content and rates the flavors in various categories. If you like chocolate mousse for dessert, you won't be disappointed.

I have been through Socorro several times and tried numerous restaurants. Recently I was driving through the area later in the evening and almost bypassed the town being disappointed with the choices, but decided to pull over and try my new Yelp app. Found Socorro Springs Brewing and decided to give them a try. And I'm glad I did. Great food and service. I had a steak. Was cooked exactly 'medium' as ordered, and tasted great. Some kind of mesquite flavors. The vegetables were grilled and crunch, not overly cooked. My wife had a burger that was very good. Not huge and greasy, but a good size with good flavor. Only reason not 5 stars is I didn't Love their beer. It was OK, and perhaps I ordered the wrong style. Will definitely go back and sample their other ones. And whenever in Socorro I will be back. No more searching for something that passes for acceptable as long as this place is open and maintaining these levels of service and quality.

Been there 4 times, the last time it was honestly because the Bistro was closed on sundays. The first time I was there I ordered the roasted garlic alfredo. and it was one of the most boring dishes that i have ever gotten in a restaurant. it was white pasta, white sauce, white bowl, untoasted piece of white bread... i sent it back went back other times and got their pizzas or calzones... MUCH BETTER if you go i recommend the pasta oh and my frien d got the black bean taco and he said its delish.. keep in mind its like a nacho salad not a taco the beer is good, but over rated the service is also hit or miss, but generally pretty good

This used to be my favorite restaurant in Socorro a couple years back, but much has changed since then. It once was touted as a great brewery, but now, all the brewing operations have moved to Colorado and they only import it from the CO joint - the Eddy Line. This is a huge move because what this means is that Soco Springs no longer offers growlers of beer. This used to be a perfect place to get a growler when I would travel from Southern NM to ABQ, but that is no longer. The menu has also changed and my favorite pizza (the Camarones y Alfredo) is no longer on the menu. However, if you make it there around October, make sure you try their Pumpkin Patch Ale. It is quite the brew and sells out very fast.

Ate here during a week long class/conference (if you're reading this, and are also going to a week long class/conference, and are thinking 'did he mean THAT class?' Yes, I mean THAT class). It was a decent establishment with decent food. Definitely worth stopping in and eating. The open air design of the room was nice, and temperature controlled, so even though the sun beat down outside in August, it was bright, spacious, and cool. The seating was comfortable, also, and not cramped. Serving staff was attentive and pleasant. Drinks were never emptied and we never had to wait to be asked how things were or if we wanted dessert. My burger was cooked perfectly. I highly suggest people that haven't been exposed to green chile to get it on the side, but it is delicious if not a little spicy. Great selection of local beer, beer in general, and a decent wine list.

Pizza was good, spinach salad with the red chile vinaigrette was awesome. Price was fair as the quality was good. Would have given 4 stars but they were out of too many varieties of their beer, not good for a brew restaurant. Service was efficient and friendly.

Pizza and Beer are very good. Of course green chili's are the local flavor. Good thing I like green chili's. A little pricey, but worth walking in the door.

This was a spectacular treat in a small town like Socorro! My boyfriend and I were just traveling through and didn't really want to eat at McDonalds, and I saw an ad for this place. We had excellent meals and absolutely wonderful service. This place was an excellent find; if I'm in Socorro again I will definitely stop by!

Stopped in today on the way back home to Las Cruces. My wife had the wood fired pizza which was very good, and I had the Green Chile Burger which was excellent. The green chile was mixed into the burger. The burger came with tomato, onions, pickles and lettuce and your choice of cheese.

Stopped in on a whim while passing through to Texas. It wasn't terrible but I think I would have been happier elsewhere. No complaints about service. I was offered a seat right away and decided to sit at the bar for a good old burger and beer. They were offering a brown ale, porter, IPA, raspberry wheat and a standard lager. The brown ale was o-k, but it wasn't anything to write home about. Not very flavorful. The IPA had a strong floral bouquet and good golden color but it was almost like they added artificial IPA flavoring and it was a bit sweet. The burger was good but a little on the bland side. I ordered medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. Rather than french fries or potato wedges the burger is served with home fries. I'd rather see wedges or fries. Two beers and the 1/4 burger with fries for 14.00. Not too bad but I'll probably stop somewhere else next time.

I'm from Boston and consider myself a pretty big foodie, and let me say I was quite impressed with Socorro Springs! I spent a week in Socorro and managed to eat here 3 times! The beer: I only had the IPA one night. I was told it would very hoppy and malty. It was neither... if I didn't think of it as an IPA, it was an overall good beer though. The food: Delicious! The creamy pesto pasta with grilled salmon ($15) is to-die-for. I have never seen a restaurant be so liberal with their portions. A huge filet of salmon on top of a huge bed of fettucini. I am still dreaming about this dish! The calzones are huge. A 'calzonita' (small version) takes up an entire plate while the regular calzones go off the plate. My friend had one of their signature ones and seemed to enjoy it thoroughly. Also, the spinach and artichoke dip is quite out-of-this-world. They use several different cheeses in their dip and the consistency is perfect, with huge chunks of artichokes. And as a bonus, delicious sliced bread to go along with it instead of the normal tortilla chips. The service: Really excellent. They are no-frills here. Once, the manager came and asked us how our meals were going. I was very impressed. Truly a gem in Socorro, and not just because it's in Socorro! If this brew-pub were in Boston, I would honestly be eating there quite often!

Went here on a recommendation and had a green chile burger with a side of grilled vegetables and a beer. The burger and beer were both good but the grilled vegetable side consisted of 4 pieces of grilled zucchini drenched in oil...

Pizza is freaking amazingly good, but the price isn't. Costs a lot for a night of pizza and beer, but its the best pizza and beer in town. Really should drop down the prices a little for us poor college kids!

I was in Socorro for four nights, the first of which was on Monday. We ended up getting to the Brewing Co. just in time for Monday Night Football. One would think there would be sufficient tv's at a brewery, but there wasn't. Only two old school 27" tv's. I was shocked! But, the beer was very good - especially the Pumpkin Ale. We ordered chips and salsa, and the salsa was outstanding. We then shared a pizza, and again very good! The food and service definitely moved this from a 3 star to 4 stars. BTW, I went back on Thursday night and they had 2 brand new flat screens above the bar. NICE!

First, the good thing is that they offer WIFI, but that doesn't excuse makiing people wait without reason. The last time we went, it was the weekend of Trinity Site, so the place was packed. We waited...and waited, but eventually had an average lunch. This time we went on a Sunday afternoon (much less busy in the dining room). Service was middling because we first experienced the travails of a cranky young woman who talked to other staff within earshot of diners, which was frankly TMI. Grow up woman, you have a job; do it and don't complain about when you absolutely need to leave. A better (non-complaining) server who simply did his job and finished serving after the other disappeared. In a better cafe or restaurant, we would have been informed that so-and-so would now take over serving us. Obviously, that was far from the young woman's mind who bolted as soon as she could. That said, I enjoyed watching the pizza dough spinning out by the cooks, and that in and of itself was very good. But, the crust is only the base of a pizza. I ordered the Wild Mushroom and was greatly disappointed in what I was served. For a premium price that promised about four kinds of mushrooms I got a pie with quartered whole white mushrooms, very few oyster, and no enoki. While the crust was baked, the toppings were not cooked, and almost cool, raw. Not even good for a salad, and certainly not for a pizza that should arrive at table too hot to eat at first. Underneath was a nondescript red sauce with little flavor. In short, I was greatly disappointed in the service and food. I'm willing to give them another chance, but will not order the same item again. In short, this establishment should focus on training servers and cooking the food longer. (After a piece, I simply took the rest home and finished it in a hot over with a spritz of canola oil with grated Parmesan and Italian herbs to make the thing more interesting. That did the trick. The pizza served to me was just not cooked fully. Maybe they didn't want to burn the crust and run the risk of a diner complaining. Well, going in the opposite direction is just as bad, if not worse.

The best dining experience that I've ever had in Socorro! There were 6 of us in the group and we ordered a wide variety of food and it was all good. We didn't sample any of the beer or alcoholic beverages so, I can't speak to that. Our waitress was very attentive in keeping our glasses full and food delivered quickly. I'll be back!

The osso negro beer was tasty, and the green chili burger (cooked to a true medium) hit the spot.

I went here on my 21st birthday and had my first beer, their Osso Negro. The waitress was quite a character and joked about having me try Irish car bombs. I had the mushroom pizza (don't bother with anything but the pizzas or calzones), and discovered after going there every once in a while that their pizza with green chilies and fresh tomatoes was my favorite. My friends and I loved the spinach artichoke dip appetizer. One of our friends hated spinach but would eat that dip.

This is a must stop if you're hungry between Albuquerque and Las Cruces. I've eaten there approx 25 times. They also have a location in Buena Vista, Colorado which I've eaten at about 5 times. For both locations: Excellent, healthy food choices. Great service, great pizza, INCREDIBLE salads! Good desert, and good beer (haven't tried the pasta). One of my favorite restaurants anywhere.

Nothing worth driving out of your way for. Beer is just okay and honestly the menu is pretty dam boring. We had a Pizza and a Calzone. Neither one was crunchy or crisp even though when you looked at the bottom it was very well done. Instead both were doughy and salty. House Salad tasted fresh and was the best part of the meal.

    (2)
  • Heather W.

The atmosphere and layout of the restaurant are great. The drinks were good... But the food left a lot to be desired. My burger was plain and tasteless. My roommates calzone was burned on the outside. The side of potatoes (aside from the ones that were burnt) was the best part of the meal. The service was friendly, but the food is not worth the price.

This review is intended mainly for IRTB students. Yes, it's close to the hotel. Yeeessss there are a limited number of places to eat during your stay in Socorro. I had high hopes for Socorro Springs upon arrival. Here's what you should know. Pros - They make their own beer, and have pretty good wood fired pizzas, close to the hotels, outdoor seating. Cons - Their beer isn't all that great, and at $4.75 a pop, it's not really worth it, service is s..l..o..w.., not a full bar, small televisions, expensive for what you are getting, bar area is small, and they seem to have a problem with their draft system. Summary - If you are looking to go no further then across the street for your food, this is the place. Plan on spending some time, and money, there. Do try the pizza's, they are pretty good and have a nice selection of toppings. Try the beers, heck, they make them there so might as well. But don't go overboard. There are other places in, and out of town, that you should try.. (Manny's Buckhorn, Capital...etc).

On my brewery tour of the US, the beer here confounded me. Normally a fan of dark beers, I found my favorite to be the lightest--the Heynekamp Dutch Lager. The waitress was very kind and offered me free shots of beer to try them all, instead of buying a sample of each beer. The Prohibition Stout was one of the strongest, hoppiest beers, I've tasted, which is not something I'm used to in stouts. I'm more used to a sweet strong taste. The Heynekamp Dutch Lager was much fuller than the normal light beer. It is the color of a white pale ale, but has the full bodied flavor of an amber or dark lager. The food was delicious as well. I ordered the red chili hummus and the Rio Grande calzone. I'm somewhat of a hummus, as well as beer, connoisseur and it passed the test. Definitely try it. The interesting mix of chevre cheese, olives, bell peppers, and spices in the calzone made it uniquely delightful. Definitely a must-stop, if in Socorro. This is a good out-of-the-ordinary microbrewery. They really mixed up the standard perceptions of beer. And there is free wifi, a +1 for the traveler.

For a vegetarian, this place is great! Got the pasta and salad combo. Loads of food for 9.99! The Red chile vinaigrette with the spinach salad was delicious, and the chocolate mousse to top it off was great. Will definitely be back for more!

In Socorro for a class. Had to hit the local brewery. First off, the beers were good. I'm a sucker for IPA so that's what I had but I tasted everything else they had. The pale ale was good but I thought it was just a little too blond for the style. Service was very attentive. With regards to a few reviews about slow food service, I did overhear one of the bartenders ask a server "how's the kitchen doing." From that comment, I can assume that they have an ongoing problem with the kitchen when they get busy. Although, my quesadilla was served promptly. This place was very clean and brightly lit. The barstools are very high. Be careful climbing down if you've had a few. This is a "don't miss" if you're in the area.

We had a good experience here, I would give it three-and-a-half stars if I could, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and round up to four. The place was not terribly busy on a weekday evening, we were seated promptly and had attentive service throughout. We thought the steak entrees were considerably overpriced, but the pizzas and calzones seemed reasonable. We had a couple of pizzas that were tasty and a good value. I had one of their house beers, pretty good but a bit too dark and malty for their description of an amber ale. The wife reports that their in-house root beer was fantastic. Overall we found the meal pleasant and would return. As a former resident of Socorro, I was happy to find such an aspiring-to-upscale establishment. We'll visit again and sincerely hope the service issues of some of the other reviewers have been solved.

Stopped in for Lunch today. Great brick-oven pizza (thin crust that is firm, but not crunchy) and my colleague enjoyed his Caballero (large calzone). Also tried a glass of their Pumpkin Patch Pale Ale; very tasty and the pumpkin flavor is not too strong, just right. Highly recommend a stop here, when you're in the area.

We went here with my wife's family after my brother in-laws graduation. The beer was very good. As for the food, everyone seemed to enjoy the spinach dip and chips with salsa. Some of us enjoyed our main entrees. I ordered the world-famous burger cooked medium and didn't find it to be very good. My wife didn't like her steak much and my foster son did not like his burger. However, the pizza seemed to be well recieved and my in-laws seemed to enjoy their steaks. I also thought the prices here are a bit expensive. Thankfully, some one else was picking up the bill. However, I wouldn't go there for much more than their beer, appatizers and pizza.

Great beer, EXCELLENT pizza, and some good all around food. The IPA is quite a good beer (though not quite and IPA) and the Brown Eyed Molly is fan-friggin'-tastic. Try all the beers....usually they have a nice honey wheat in the summer and they do the German thing with Lemonade and beer, which is quite refreshing! The service is always quick and friendly and the owner usually floats around. Don't let the small town fool you, this is the best micro-brew in New Mexico. If you plan on heading to Tech for the day (or semester) you'll have to eat here at least once.

Insulted and utterly disgusted with the quality of food and the service. The potatoes we ordered came raw so we sent them back. What we got back were now burnt raw potatoes along with a few that looked like nothing had been done with them at all. To top it off these potatoes came back on the same plate the waitress had taken side by side with the same limp lettuce. To clarify the restaurant threw some of my half eaten potatoes on the grill burned some did nothing to the others and served them back to me on the same used plate. I was insulted and disgusted. They brought back used food into the kitchen and threw it on the grill, can you say gross and maybe a health code violation? What's more our waitress spilled water on my mother and didn't even notice. The other food wasn't much better, the burgers were over seasoned, the wraps were all right for the most part but nothing special. I think Gordon Ramsey is needed badly. To top it all off when I tried to leave a comment card there were no pens in sight. If you are in Socorro, I would recommend a gas station burrito over coming to this establishment.

We stayed next door at the Holiday Inn Express for a couple of days and the Socorro Springs Brewing company was next door. We trotted on over... The Happy Hour was crowded, lucky for us we got the last table. There was a huge list of microbeers and wines to choose from. We had the spinach dip and chips which were wonderful! We got the salad and salmon to go. Both were fresh and delicious. Greg the manager made it a point to come over and meet us and answered our questions about New Mexico Tech and some of the local points of interest. We'll be back.

Is it possible to give a place a minus 5 rating? However, as you read my review, please be aware that I and my two "Old Fogie"friends are over 65, and not part of the crowd which usually frequents this restaurant. Having said that, here's the scoop from an Oldster's point of view. It was a Monday night when one might expect a restaurant to be fairly quiet. We were seated near the bar, in the midst of a huge group of young drinkers who were loud and enthusiastic. The noise level was shattering. Our server was attentive and capable, but the kitchen was very slow. He kept us generously supplied with beverages until the food finally arrived, nearly an hour after we sat down. For the price, and for the wait, we had expected the meal to be really good. It was barely mediocre. Did we catch them at a bad time? The portions were large, but there was very little flavor in our Calzones. Clark thought the potatoes were to be fries -- they weren't. Perhaps they had been baked? At any rate, they weren't crispy. He was disappointed. I spoke with the head waiter who apologized for our disappointment. Perhaps it was just a matter of age-perspective, but we were unhappy, although they asked if there was anything they could do to make it better. There wasn't, as we were just passing through. Perhaps, seeing that we were older, they might have seated us in a quieter area??? I'm glad to read that other people have had better experiences. We, however, will never go back.

Being that Socorro is the only place you'd stop between Las Cruces and Albuquerque, Socorro Springs is a nice addition to the town and its menu seems to cover the gamut. They've got New Mexican dishes, pizza, and specialty pasta dishes. The beer and wine list looked pretty extensive. Went here to meet up with an old friend and didn't want to drive all the way to Albuquerque. Yeah, but when you're driving from Cruces, you kinda might as well, what's another 90 miles?.... I was pleasantly surprised, considering the last eateries I'd been in this town were Taco Bell and Denny's, or some other chain not worth remembering. When we got there, about 4:15-4:30-ish, we were seated promptly and service was quick, friendly and smiling. But nearly three hours later, and we hadn't noticed because we were busy chatting, people were waiting in line. It's hard to say whether the quality of the food was super wonderful but compared to other Socorro establishments, it's tops.

On our way from ABQ to El Paso we stopped for lunch. We had the wood fired pizza -- Margherita. My wife had a small house salad, and I, the spinach. The small salads were plenty with the pizza (we took 2 slices with us). The salads were fresh and crisp -- no iceberg lettuce here. The pizza was crisp, thin crust, with an excellent sauce. Waitress was friendly and service quick (even though she was serving at least six tables). The bar area was attractive and had patches from First Responder units across the US. A great place to stop while traveling, and it would be even better for an evening out.

Most of the beers are good. The Porter here is the best Porter I've had anywhere. The pizza is much too thin, even for thin-crust. The pasta dishes and steak sandwich are pretty tasty. The food overall is OK, but very expensive considering the region and small portion sizes.

Meant to stop here many a time, alas I usually zoom by Socorro early AM or late PM. It's the kind of place you can only find in a college town. Intriguing selection of beers (I am not a connoisseur, so I can't comment), nice wine selection at reasonable prices by the glass. Starbucks coffee and unique tea choices, including iced black tea, which I loved. Had the Rio Grande Calzone, which was huge (not necessarily a plus, just an observation) and filled with delicous vefgetarian ingredients. The crust was thin and not too overwhelming. Nice selection of other vegetarian choices as well, incl. vegetarian sausage. Rounded up the experience with a chocolate mouse, which was surprisingly good.. Who would have guessed, in the middle of New Mexico?! It was not as light and fluffy as I might have liked and, as almost evrrywhere in the U.S., too sweet, but definitely made with real chocolate (not from Hershey PA) and with whipped cream (not this abominable whipped topping). The staff was friendly and competent and gave me just enough attention without being intrusive. Good off-street parking. Diverse lunch crowd. Private conversations are easily possible.

The beer was delicious, I ordered a caesar salad and it included lettuce that should have been thrown away: black and slimy. THat and a generous sprinkling of grated parmesan, some mediocre croutons and a small amount of nondescript dressing. Disappointing! The I had a half order of the vegetarian lasagna. Also disappointing. Hard to find much there other than cheese! I was described as having layers of spinach, but I would bet the entire dish had maybe 3 tablespoons of spinach. Mostly a cheesy glob. I appreciate the fact that they offer help servings, however. Service was fine, beer delicious.

In town for a class and wanted to try the local fare. The restaurant was clean, and not cluttered. The staff was friendly and the service was quick. The restaurant has wood fired oven which they use to prepare many items including pizza. I had the works pizza that included green chillies, and was extremely satisfied with the portion, taste and quality of the food. Diffidently worth checking out if you are in town.

Was returning from Las Cruces and on our way back home to Angel Fire. I looked on Yelp and found this place... it was actually a good ways into the town which runs parallel with the freeway. Very easy to find. I loved this place....very upscale, kind of trendy look... modern and clean. Food was really good. Service was excellent. Great ambiance. Would definitely (and have) recommended this place to friends and will plan on stopping there again in the future. Not too pricey at all.

My steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly. My beer was great. I had grilled zucchini. That was excellent too. This place is awesome. You should go out of your way to come here.

We had dinner here last month when we were in Socorro. We had been driving for hours and we were tired and very hungry. Our meal at the Socorro Springs Brewing Company was the perfect ending to a long, long day. The service was friendly and efficient and the food was great. VVSP had the Cesar salad and the wild mushroom pizza. He loved his meal, and the piece of his pizza I stole was yummy. I had the house salad and lasagna, and both were quite good. We each took away part of our entrees--the servings were that generous. For dessert we shared a huge serving of chocolate mousse. Candidly, I wasn't prepared for much since we were in such a small, out-of-the-way place (no offense, Socorroans--we're just from the big city, that's all), and we were both pleasantly surprised. If our travels take us back through Socorro, which is likely, there's no doubt we'll eat here again.

We ate here last year traveling through, it was good, but now, it's possibly even better. We sat at the bar, which holds the unique distinction of having the only bar stool in the world that I can not seem to fit my 6-5 self onto. They are at least 12 inches over standard. We had a great bartender, she recommended the Kickin Back Amber, it was delicious. She knows her beer. The wife had wine, as usual. I had a half order of penne with a small sirloin served on top, the wife a salady thing, and both were nicely presented and delicious. Then, the creme brûlée for me, chocolate mousse for the wife, and this was one great lunch. I'd give them 5 stars, but our entire lunch was disrupted by a poorly supervised 2 yr old, a pet peeve of mine in bars, which are supposed to be for adults. Great lunch, though.

I cannot recommend the Caballero Calzone. It had hardly any cheese and was overloaded with over spicy sausage. Good waitress and Manager was very understanding but the quality of this dish needs to be re-evaluated.

This is a really nice restaurant in the small town of Socorro. Known for their pizza and beer, that's what we decided to try. The aroma from the pecan wood-fired ovens was oh so sweet! And the pizza that arrived cooked by that fire was done perfectly. There are separate large areas for dining and a bar for enjoying their many fine beers. Our server was very friendly and attentive. I can easily see how this is a popular eating spot in town. We would most definitely eat here again on our next visit to Socorro.

Delicious meals all three visits. Pizza is very good, crispy crust and inventive toppings. The fanciful mac and cheese is absolutely delightful! Salads are fresh. Pesto dressing is yummy. Cheesecake comes in a huge slab. Tiramisu is served in a sundae goblet and is very well done.

Being from New Jersey, I *really* missed some Italian food. Socorro Springs holds a decent selection of pizzas and pastas to choose from. I was particularly disappointed by the pizzas because they were very small and the crust was not very flavorful/buttery and have that tear-apart goodness. It was very much plain dough without flavoring or rising. The pastas are good except they are all cheese/cream based. I prefer marinara and meat so I went with the meat lasagna but there was no meat! I called the waitress over and she pointed out to me that the sparse tiny bits of diced sausage was the meat. The rest of the lasagna was full of vegetables. For $15, that was a BIG disappointment. Where's the beef? However, the service was excellent despite being slow. We ordered some dough twists but because our waiter forgot it, she promptly apologized and gave us desserts on the house. Very awesome! The desserts are very good but a little heavy. The only disappointing desert is the creme brulee which was completely liquid beneath the shell on the top. When my friends and I dug in, the shell cracked and splattered the liquid cream everywhere! Funny experience, never had a liquid creme brulee before. Still was pretty delicious. Overall I wouldn't come here unless meeting with family for dinner or something that demands a more formal dinner. Definitely on the pricey side.

Had the vegetarian lasagna, cheddar penne, and garlic Alfredo. It was pretty good but for $10 a dish the lasagna was the better dish. Good local brewery beer.

Nothing special. Wasn't to hungry, just wanted to get out of the hotel and sat in the bar. On my first beer and glass of water, both glasses smelled like they'd been wipes down or dried with a dirty rag. They replaced them without complaint. Service was poor - sitting here about 15 minutes waiting for a visit from the server - empty glasses and plate in front of me. He was rushing around with his head down and didn't hear me asking for the check. Don't have many alternatives in this neck of the woods. so....

What a fantastic surprise. We drove through Socorro not expecting too much only to end up here with some really delicious brews and fantastic wood fired pizza. We had a sample of several brews and the Californian Pizza. Also had a spinach salad with chili balsamic vinegarett that was delicious, we topped off with their homemade Tiramisu. Misty was our server and she could not have done a better job. She's a sweetheart and right on time with everything. Hats off to this establishment, you are the best thing going in Socorro.

Went in here after the place I regularly go was closed. Had the soup and salad combo; soup of the day was Green Chile Steak Stew. The soup was not bad..not the best I've ever had, but was good on a chilly day. I also had their Kickin' Back Amber and I am now a fan. The KBA has a rich, but smooth choco-coffee flavor with a deep hoppy flavor that sets the beer off. They have sample sniffers for the beers which is nice, so I tried the KBA with a little Angry Orchard Apple Ale....man that was a good combo (off beat Black and Tan). If you are looking for a place to stop in while passing thru Socorro, I say give this place a shot...you will most likely not be disappointed. The only con to the place is that the car parking is limited..oh and they do have bike parking for those of you that are riding.

We stopped in on the road and boy glad we did. I had the pesto pasta and added chicken it was to die for. The salsa was kind of weird but wasn't bad. My fiancé had a calzone and it was also done to perfection. Our waitress was totally on top of us all night as far as drinks and got a well deserved hefty tip. Very happy with our experience

Been here about 4 or 5 times now. The main entrees are pretty good. I don't like the chips they use for their chips and salsa / guacamole, but they aren't "Tostitos horrible". I like that they have craft brews on draft and you can usually find one or two on tap that are pretty good but their selection is limited to two or three breweries. The restaurant is modern and clean and the prices aren't high. The chili cheeseburger and their personal-size pizzas are really good. My only complaint is that service (in the seating area of the bar anyway) is a little slow and the servers aren't always around when you need something. Overall, though, not a bad place.

Horrible!!! I signed up to yelp just so I could post what a waste of $35!!! Tea was colored water - the burger was raw bun was small and pathetic! The chicken salad was a served without all the ingredients that the menu listed! It was just awful! The manager never came over to apologize - small town joke!! I only stopped because I was traveling and thought it would be better than lotta burger! I know it wasn't! Don't waste time or money!

Other than the delicious meals and fresh pizzas that they have, the environment is very friendly and casual. You will see college students and the working class go here and have lunch and dinner with their friends and family. I think the only tradeoff that they have is the limited amount food entrees in the menu because they try to make the entrees unique by having it made by one huge stove oven. Nevertheless, this restaurant seems very conscientious about service and food feedback (automatically gives you a comment card when you ask for the check and on the receipt) so the waiters are very nice and helpful. Overall, I would definitely go here again :).

Yummy pizza, good prices, decent beer selection, nice atmosphere. The pizza dough is really tasty- not too thick, but not thin either. I got the 'margherita' pizza, and it was simple and delicious. I also recommend the spinach artichoke dip with pita bread- yum! Didn't like the raspberry wheat beer I tried, but they have a combo deal that's pretty sweet for getting a pizza and a beer for a great price (~$11 I think). My only complaint was the service. We sat outside and they kind of forgot about us and neglected us a bit. Other than that, a great spot to eat some good pizza.

I ate here twice in the last two weeks, while visiting for work. I don't know what people are complaining about; it's pizza and beer. As far as those go, the pizza was good and the beer is pretty solid. I even ordered a few salads (which were crisp and fresh) and an artichoke dip appetizer (which was delicious). Yeah, go to 'Springs. Tuesday is Pizza and Pint night: any pizza and a pint for $11.

We are in Socorro moving daughter for summer school. It was late and our usual place is now closed so despite some reviews we decided to try this place. My husband was impressed with the beer list. Disappointed that some of their own craft beers were unavailable, but they had some other beers that he has enjoyed so he was happy. Happy Camper is one of the beers available! My husband, daughter, and her friend ordered pizzas. My family likes thin crust. While this was not thin crust they were impressed with the pizza. They prefer pizzas without or little sauce and these were perfect. I ordered a burger well done. It was cooked well without being burned. That always impresses me! The potato wedges were ok. will order grilled zucchini next time. For an appetizer we ordered the pretzels with cheese sauce. These are perfect with beer. The games were going on the TVs and the decor is simple. Atmosphere is relaxed. Great place to sit relax and enjoy simple good food. For the craft beer drinkers there is a brewery opening where the Bistro was located. Should be opened mid July 2014.

We had a very enjoyable lunch at this place yesterday. We were promptly seated and served by a very nice waiter, who even gave me extra lemon for my ice tea, arranged around the rim of my glass. The food was excellent. We each had mini calzone with a side salad. It comes with a bowl of marinara sauce. Its a lot of food at a good price. I highly recommend this place.

Seriously, .....pizza, beer. Obviously I am well versed on this topic. They got sweet brick oven pies and craft brews that will make your nose and cheeks numb. Oh....and your date can order a salad and a glass of wine too. Bottom line: its the simple things in life.

First let me clarify, because apparently they don't have time to update their business hours... They close at 9pm!!! Now, my fiancée had been bragging about this place for months, when we started planning our move from Flagstaff to Texas. He had stopped here for years in his many travels, and we decided in this longer route to Texas just because of THIS restaurant. We got here and found out not only had they changed owners as well as menus, but they have known for some time that their hours of operation were wrong, and the employees don't know why they haven't been changed. So, we are now at El Camino, because out of the two restaurants open (Denny's and this) we haven't been here. The people are friendly, the food is so so, and next time we will go through Albuquerque.

Pleasant dining experience. The service was quick and congenial. We ate early in the evening so the atmosphere was quiet. The lasagna was delicious and the half order was the perfect size for a somewhat small eater. My dining partner ordered the smaller calzone but the kitchen made a mistake and gave him the large. He was quite pleased for their mistake. The beer was good but I won't order the chips and salsa appetizer again. Tasty salsa but the chips were just ok. Overall our experience was really nice. I recommend this eatery.

Stopped in for lunch on a Tuesday. Looks deserted from the main drag but there is plenty of parking in the back. Dined on the patio so our dogs could join us. We ordered two local brews, both very tasty . Along with a spinach salad with red chili vinaigrette, a child's pasta, the conquistador calzone and a wild mushroom pizza. All of the food was excellent and served in a timely manner. The waitress even remembered to ask if our hounds would like some water. All told a great meal.

We each ordered pizza. Both pizzas lacked flavor and substance. A third of the pizza was plain crust with no sauce or toppings. We don't recommend this restaurant. Which is sad now that Old Town Bistro is closed. Thanks for reading. The Bike Chaplain

Maybe I missed something. Let's see: It wasn't during noon lunch rush. It was during happy hour. So I get there to try to take some of their "award winning beer" back to Texas with me and there is noone there to greet us. The place was open alright-I mean, there were people there eating but noone was at the front. So we waited....and waited..and waited. Finally after what seemed like an eternity, a guy shows up and asks us if we need a table. I tell him I just want to see the to go menu and wanted to see if they had any growlers or sold any of their beer in 6 packs. To my surprise, the says they do not. Really? If that's your calling card, you don't even sell it to the masses? Well, needless to say, I was disappointed after the first 2 strikes and wasn't about to swing at a third when it came to their food. So my 8 year old and I left...we got better service at Taco Bell.

The restaurant is attractive and the bar seems to be busy. L and I shared a wood fired El Bandito pizza topped with pepperoni, Canino's spicy Italian sausage, mozzarella, a house made marinara sauce, and a choice of pickled jalapenos or green chili was good. However, with the exception of the chilies it was a pretty standard pizza with a good crust. L and K tried some of the beer and told me it was just okay

I would give this place minus stars if I could. We ate here in March 2013. I got food poisining. I should have contacted the health inspector but we were on our way to Utah. I had a hamburger which resembled a charcoal briquet, it was so overcooked, with some kind of home fries that were so heavily seasoned with whole herbs I could not eat them.

I think the Springs has gone down a touch in food. The beer is still OK, especially the red chile porter. However, the food just doesn't move me and it's a touch expensive for what you get. I don't know, it just isn't a favorite anymore, although it is still probably the most attractive restaurant in town. You can get a good meal, but $9 for appetizer plates just seems out of line, especially for moderate amounts of food and mediocre taste. However, the 20% locals discount on Mondays is a great deal. I think Springs has just lost its spark. It needs a kickstart.

Really really bad - gave it a 2nd chance but still bad. We have been here twice - about one year apart. The place is very badly managed. The wait staff and cooks still try to please but their efforts are over shadowed by poor planning and execution. Last year we waited forever for a table and the manager actually seated others out of order leaving us hanging. Then the food was slow. Last night 11/28/14 we went in and were seated at 6:15 but we got our food at 8:30. The server brought the salads at about 8 but when we asked for silverware she disappeared and someone else finally told us that they had "run out of silverware and we're washing it now". She finally brought utensils but we never got napkins. This was obviously management problem not a server problem. When the food came we had 2 who'd ordered lasagna. Both servings were small and one was cold (like refrigerator cold). Sent the cold one back and got grilled salmon instead which my friend said was good. Found out we we go the bill that they had given half size lasagna portions even though we hadn't asked for smaller portions. We will not go here again.

This place is great! I had a fresh spinach salad before my meal. I'm a picky eater and the waitress didn't mind changing a few things for me. The pizzas we ordered were cooked perfectly in the wood fired oven and were absolutely delicious! The tiramisu we had for dessert was the perfect way to end our meal. The service was excellent, everyone was very friendly, and it was a well-kept, clean place.

Been here a few times. Never thrilled with the service, and the food is overpriced for what you get and the locale. My most recent visit, though, will be my last. I had to remind the server to bring plates for our appetizers, straws for our drinks, ketchup for my kids' burgers, napkins, etc. I could see ONE oversight, but good Lord, I've not seen such a lapse! When I told the manager (who was maybe 23?), who stopped by our table, his first reaction was to defend her by saying how busy they were (maybe a bit more than half full). I responded, "So, to get adequate service I need to come when there are few/no customers here so your servers aren't as distracted?" C'mon! If I were the owner I'd FIRE the manager on the spot for such a lame, politician-like answer. Where's Gordon Ramsey?! He did offer a free dessert but after his initial response, I wrote him off. My elderly mom wanted a burger without pepper and spices and they could not accommodate her because everything is pre-prepped. I get a certain amount of pre-prep but how much effort would it take to keep some ground beef without spices? Since mom lives in town and I don't, that's one more reason to look elsewhere for us. Bye-bye, Socorro Springs. I prefer the Old Town Bistro, which also features entertainment in addition to much better service and a cozy ambiance.

Great service, great food, great beer :) Simple as that! Our waitress was very good and knowledgeable, the food (I got a pizza and husband a calzone) was tasty (the calzone was a little eh on stuffing but made up for it in quality), the water (which is a big thing down here) was VERY clean and tasted good as well, the beer was great (I actually like Vienna Lager, my husbands favorite the OSO Negro Black Lager), growlers are CHEAP here @ $14 we sooo wanted to take one home but alas we did not... but for a good quality beer this is a GREAT deal! If I ever visit NM again this is a must hit stop :)

No matter the time of afternoon or evening, busy or not, this boutique brewery has friendly, attentive servers, delicious food, and nummy beers. I highly recommend stopping in Socorro just to visit. If you don't drink alcohol and drive, their home-brewed root beer is a delicious surprise.

Review is only for their beer. Definitely sample their line of beer offerings. Highly recommend their java stout! Amber and pumpkin (if in season) are a must! It is a shame their parent brewing company is in Buena Vista, Colorado.

We had low expectations for this remote place where most people are just passing by on I-25 between Albuquerque and Las Cruces, but found ourselves having a fantastic lunch. We started with a beer sampler, and, with the exception of the stout, found them all to be good and some very good. As a "hophead" I was disappointed they were out of the IPA, but the "Isopod Pale Ale was pretty hoppy and suited me fine. The Station 1 Amber Lager was a spot-on Vienna Lager with a nice caramel maltiness and very smooth finish. The Oso Negro Black Lager was great. Crisp and clean with hints of roasty bitterness from the dark malts leading to a very long, dry finish. My wife and I started by splitting the large spinach salad (fresh baby spinach with red onions, fresh red bell peppers, roma tomatoes, almonds and blue cheese crumbles). It was plenty big for two. The spinach was fresh, the tomatoes ripe, and the roasted red peppers sweet. The highlight for me was the red chile vinaigrette dressing. Thick and spicy with ground red New Mexican chiles, I absolutely loved it and have never had any salad dressing like it. For the entree, we split the Rio Grande calzone (Ricotta, chevre, mozzarella, artichoke hearts, roasted red bell peppers, kalamata olives, and fresh spinach) opting to omit the olives. Coming from the big brick oven the pizza dough was perfect, browned and crispy on the outside. The creamy ricotta and tangy goat cheese complimented the gooey, mild mozzarella perfectly. The spinich was just slightly cooked so not soggy or slimy. The tender, vinager-ey artichoke hearts and sweet roasted peppers put it over the top. Our two kids really liked their kids menu choices - a 9" brick oven pepperoni pizza for my son and penne in Alfredo sauce for my picky-eater daughter. The only minor complaint was that I later discovered we had been charged $2.25 for each of the kid's sodas while the menu says soft drinks were included with kid's meals. I'm guessing this happened because we ordered the drinks first and the kids meals later, and I'm sure what they got was probably a much larger cup, but there should have at least been a small credit for not getting the smaller, included, soda. Also the kids meals were each $1.00 higher than the price on the online menu. I don't recall the price on the physical menu, but either they overcharged me or the online menu is outdated.

This absolutelt used to be one of my favorite places but owners relocated. They should have sold to someone who has a vested interest because all has gone down hill since they left. What is still on the menu is good but the other day their soup was egg drop. ???? that's a bizarre offer for this place. doesn't quite fit. Their prices are high also so we only go a few times a year.
