PERFECT. Went here on family vacation on our way to Colorado and it was absolutely amazing. High quality food, scenic view of the beautiful mountains, and fantastic service. Hand-made chocolate milk, homemade cinnamon rolls, and that old-school feel that reminds you of eating at Grandma's. If I could give it more than 5 stars,I would.

We stopped here during a cross-country move. I was suffering from severe motion sickness when I walked through the door and wasn't feeling very hungry. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich with potato soup, which I ended up not eating until later. Both were excellent! However, the best part of my experience was when the waiter, who after hearing I wasn't feeling well, made up a to-go refill of Sprite for me. That kind gesture totally made my day!

Good little restaurant, friendly staff, good food at a good price. Good prices. Decor was a little outdated but very clean.

Absolutely nothing fancy but this is a very reliable stop, and a good value for the money. Our room was large and clean but somewhat outdated. The bed was comfortable and it was quiet! We did not use the in-room microwave and small refrigerator. The restaurant (The Oasis Motel and Restaurant) has always been a good reliable breakfast stop for us. They open at 6am (with no coffee in the room this was important). We rolled in around 7:45pm and found, to our relief, that the restaurant serves until 8:00pm. They were cheerful and did not rush us, despite being so close to closing time. Nothing fancy, just good down home cooking. We are very happy with the overall value of both the Motel and Restaurant and recommend it for anyone needing a clean, reliable overnight in Raton, NM. The staff is very friendly. No wonder it's a local favorite! Stayed October 24, 2014

Had a burger, homeade pie and a side of chili. A bit too spendy for what I got and underwhelming for this fan of diners , drive inns and dives. Sad scene in Raton as the Ice House closed and a lot of places out of business leaving the oasis, Kbobs (not a fan) and an asian eatery...

Great burgers, fries, and BLT sandwiches. Not huge portions, which is good. Great coconut cream pie, cherry pie, both homemade! They have wifi that is super fast. This is good, old fashioned, home cooked food in a diner. While the place might need an update on the decor, we found the seats comfy and the service spot on.

Not the worst plave I've eaten but far, far from the best as diners go. We stopped there on for lunch and my burger was so over cooked and tough...although I do have to say that the french fries were the kind my mom used to make. Cut fresh and pretty darn yummy. I'd give those a rating of 5 stars...but since others want to eat more than fries I am sure, I had to go with what the the overall experience was, for us. My husband had the club sandwhich and he said it was just medicore. If you are starved then stop to get some food in you because there is not much to choose from for some miles.

Good home cooked food, great red chili. Not so fond of the heavy sopapilla. Good service.

Sure it is cheap, but the quality of the food lacks a little bit. I had a club sandwich which was OK but the side salad was just very watery and bland. I asked for oil & vinegar and it was some kind of little olive oil or vegetable oil with white vinegar. My wife had chicken soup which was OK and enchiladas which were good. Service was efficient and friendly.

A nice, clean, good service mom and pop restaurant. The burgers and fries are very nice. We ordered them Trifecta with chilies, cheese, and bacon. We enjoyed a very pleasant meal and would recommend the place.

I wish i could give zero stars instead of the minimum one. Why? Because chicken fried chicken and green chili were awful, and the potato soup was the worst I've ever had -- and I mean that. Also, a cheeseburger was so overdone and dry that it was hard to get down without washing every bite back. I'm all for local flavor, but not if it means I have to stop somewhere else in 5 mins because this meal was so bad and we were still hungry.

Mixed results here. What they did well they did really well. But quite a bit of food was left uneaten with some misses. Came here with a group of about 30 people for dinner on our way to Philmont scout ranch. While the other restaurant patrons didn't initially seem all that excited to see our group, the restaurant staff was kind and accommodating. Great work by them and great job handling our crew with individual tickets and such. The Pros: The pies for dessert were homemade (our waitress told us) and delicious. We ordered a slice of coconut cream pie and apple pie and they were honestly some of the most delicious we've ever had. A week later one of the men commented that the apple pie was still perhaps the best he'd ever eaten. While the crust and all is good, it's worth springing for the ice cream to make it ala mode if you like it a little sweeter. The milk shakes were also major wins. Hand scooped ice cream. Thick. Delicious. Everyone who ordered one was thrilled they did. Appetizers were also delicious and with generous portion size. The jalapeno poppers must have had 12 poppers so great for sharing. And the fried mixed vegetables were generous and delicious--especially the cauliflower and mushrooms. The zucchini were a bit overcooked (dark and too much oil), but the others made up for them. The Cons: One boy who loves chicken fried steak had one and only ate half. Said the brown gravy they used (not the traditional white sausage gravy) was bland and ruined the dish for him. Those who ordered hamburgers said they were okay, but nothing special. One big watch out was the level of spice being too hot to handle. One group ordered the spicy wings and the wings were so hot that not a single person of the six who ate them finished a wing. These were teenage boys who loved spicy and they said it was simply too hot. Another teenager who loves spicy ordered the chili and didn't have more than a few bites before he said it was so spicy he couldn't eat any more. So while the cons need to be carefully considered, there's a lot to like about this personal-feeling restaurant.

Good little home style cooking diner. It's great after a night camping in the local state park, without the mess. They serve breakfast till 11:30 a.m. on the weekdays. The English egg muffin was generous with the ham - a rare find these days. The views from the diner are beautiful to the north and west. Toto, we're not in Kansas anymore.

After two visits in less than 6 months, this quaint, mostly local-filled restaurant/hotel combo has convinced me to eat here every time we pass through Raton. Visited The Oasis on Sunday, 7/31 with family in tow, this time for brunch...oh my. Wife and I got the heuvos rancheros, both with green chile; man oh man was that good. Each came with a side of hashbrowns and requested corn/flour tortillas. The flour, which we usually don't eat, we're fluffy and perfect for soaking up chile. The corn however, we're a tad dry, my hypothesis is since they use them as base for rancheros and other dishes, they might need to be drier than normal to keep texture. That's my story and I'm sticking with it. My boys stayed away from kids menu and went for smaller adult portions, and I must say, they practically inhaled their food. Clean plates all around...and on top of that, we got two cinnamon rolls to go. Great spot, efficient and friendly service. Looking forward to next drive through Raton!

Yes, it looks like a local cafe. And a little divey. Yes, it seems to be always crowded at breakfast -- can't speak for the rest of the day. And the crowd always looks like mostly locals. That's how we originally decided to stop here -- the parking lot packed full of NM liscense plates. Always a good sign. And finally -- yes. The best green chili I've ever had in New Mexico or anywhere else. Ladled over eggs and hashbrowns -- embarrassingly good. I almost licked the plate.

Shouldn't even get one star. Took my family of 4 there after a long road trip from TX. Wife's combo mex plate served cold. Mash potatoes were old and soggy. Brown gravy had burnt taste. Service was terrible. No timely drink refills. We wanted to replace a lemonade refill with an iced tea instead. When we got the bill they tried to charge us for 5 drinks. After we sent my wife's food back for being cold we asked them to take off the meal from the check, which they did. However because she ate part of the salty soup and the brown wilted lettuce salad, they had to charge us $2.90 for those items even though they came with the meal. We also tried to order an appetizer from the beverage only lady and she replied, "sorry I only do drinks" and walked away. Please stay away from this dirty diner.

I suggest the trout - it was fantastic, and the food all-around good. So much better than the greasy spoon alternatives around - we had been stopping through, and wanted some good salads and veggies. The Oasis was great!

Very good food for the locale. We had breakfast and dinner there and they were both pleasant. For dinner the chicken fried steak is hand battered and came with both soup and a salad.
