First B&B ever. Very friendly, felt just like home. Breakfast was excellent and met some nice folks over breakfast also. The place to stay in Cloudcroft.
Christian, warm and friendly. We played guitar and sang lots of our old favorite hymns ! The owner Gail has the beautiful voice and her husband Scott plays great Christian songs. Most of the travelers we met there were old friends and born-again believers. The food was varied and fantastic.

The pies here are amazing. I recommend fruits of the forest pie! Buy the entire pie, it won't disappoint!! The crust is flaky and the filling is not overly sweet. The customer service is wonderful!! Really great family run place!! Best pie I ever had!
Just went this morning and the place was killer. Tried a menagerie: the chocolate in and out pastry, apple danishes, cherry and apple turnovers, strawberry and plain cream cheese pastries, chocolate and glazed cake donuts, and a cinnamon roll. All were superb except the cinnamon roll was not quite what I was looking for (too delicate in flavor). The consistency of the puff pastry is outstanding. Would have tried regular glazed and chocolate donuts but they had sold out and were in the process of making more. They have no set menu, but I would guess that they probably have most of these available on most mornings. They make pies (Apple, peach, strawberry-rhubarb, fruit of the forest, blueberry, peach, etc)-you can call ahead according to the worker I spoke with. They were open 7am-5pm today (a Monday).they also make fresh bread (asiago, garlic, and rosemary-olive oil). I'm not sure about the pies or bread-but if it's anywhere close to their pastries you should try that too. A bit pricey-but it's top quality and this is a tiny mountain town-bravo!
Best Latte in the village!...Super fast, friendly and affordable. They have gluten-free fudge but get there early cuz it's guuud! My wife loves the cool clothing shop and I dig the University of Texas scoreboard sign! Their fast and free wifi ROCKS too!

First note: Bring cash or a check as they do not accept credit or debit cards. My husband and I are spending the summer in the Cloudcroft, NM area and have visited the Western Bar/Restaurant four times in the past two weeks ~ two times for breakfast on the restaurant side and two times for dinner/drinks on the bar side. Breakfast was very good, as was the service. I highly recommend the Chilaquiles with red sauce! For dinner/drinks, the restaurant turns into a completely different place. The service is HORRIBLE in the evenings on the bar side. We went in this past Sunday evening (6/16/13) and seated ourselves as no one was behind the bar nor was there a waitress on this side of the restaurant/bar. We waited more than ten minutes and I then went to the bar to order our drinks. Our drinks arrived within a few minutes and then the waitress/bartender completely ignored us for the next hour. We were not brought a menu and would have ordered food had anyone bothered to bring us a menu or even check on us. We also never received a check/ticket. We knew approximately the costs of our drinks so we left money and a tip (which was very generous on our part considering the lack of service) on the table and left. One more note ~ both bathrooms were disgusting. The trash cans were full and both smelled awful. There was trash (a couple of paper towels from the bathrooms and some toilet paper) on the floor in the hallway between the two bathrooms. The ladies room was just about out of toilet paper and I would have told somebody about this had anyone checked on us. There was also a surgical glove with something (Vaseline like substance) on it in the ladies room. Half of the glove was in the trash can and half of the glove was stuck to the wall. NOT appetizing, to say the least! In summary, the breakfast food and service is above average but the bar side of the establishment at night is HORRIFIC. We will eat breakfast there again at some point in the next three months but will never go there again in the evenings.
The restaurant is good, a solid B+ or A- café. Fairly diverse menu: Stakes, burgers, Mexican, token sea food; salads are fresh but uninspired. Quick service once you get in, there can be a sort wait on weekends. The bar is a trip back to 1947. Don't miss it.
We just spend a long weekend in Cloudcroft and ate at the Western every night we were there. EXCELLENT FOOD! The quail is SO good and much less expensive than what you would pay for it in Central Texas (where I'm from). The mexican food is also great - wonderful red sauce! The huevos rancheros are the best I've ever had. The service was great, the people were friendly and best of all - there's a bar right next door!! We'll definitely be back.

After a few hours of shopping in town, My family and I stopped to enjoy a bit to eat, and enjoy we did. There is a few good spots to choose from in the area but this should be at the top of the list. Tasty delicious food, a variety of choices, and I heard nothing but silence from my company while enjoying. The staff is super friendly, accommodating, and Very down to earth. I enjoyed a King Richard burger with a side of fries. I would consider myself a burger connoisseur, I eat a burger a day, and I must say that this one extremely hit the the spot. Well done Daves! We also enjoyed the Green chile burger, Chili, Blt sandwich (with excellent rye bread), fried asparagus, and the Nachos. Great choice to eat, so what else are you looking for?
Great little cafe with a simple sandwich and burger menu. We were only in the area for a few days camping and tried it on the way in and liked it so much we waited for them to open the morning we were headed out. You must try the Lynda sandwich. It has a very special ingredient (I'll let you find out on your own what it is). I tried it the first day then brough my whole camp team back on the way out so a bunch of other folks could try it. Everyone really liked it. Other menu items were of equal quality.
Excellent. That noted, it is important to explain my point of reference. I rate this as a lunch spot and a breakfast spot. It is not an upscale restaurant; it is not a diner. Not that either are bad. It is a great place to eat breakfast and lunch. We've been in Cloudcroft nearly a week and have come back to this place several times. Yes, as another reviewer noted, I could make the stuff I had at home. However, I happen to like that which I make at home, and better yet, I like it when someone else makes it for me ...and serves it with a smile. Plus, home is a long way from here. So here's my review: Food good. Service good. Prices good. I like Dave's and will keep going back.

The Tall Timbers may not be the newest cabins but for $79 you cant beat the price. The number 9 cabin was nice and private, though it looked like it was furnished using my grad school apartment. Fortunately, there was plenty of wood and the fireplace worked just fine. I would consider staying there again, but only after taking a look at other comparable cabins in the area.

06/01/2015 - Currently this place is closed with a For Sale sign in the window. There is a barbecue place a few doors down from this - it is excellent.
I googled for restaurants along my son's drive from Phoenix to Lubbock. He was especially interested in a good BBQ. I saw a good review for the Texas Pit (????), and passed it to him. He stopped for food to eat as he drove. Here's his review: "I went to the cloudcroft restaurant. Ordered ribs and sausage. Threw it out. There was no seasoning whatsoever." Really strong recommendation... to stay away.
We went around 2 on a Monday. We walked in and it was empty and the reviews on here scared us but we decided to be brave. Ok honestly glad we did. We were waiting out the rain storm and the food helped pass the time! The waitress was really nice and brought us our drinks and food pretty quick. I had the catfish dinner. I'm from Texas and making fried catfish was the first thing I learned so I know a good catfish. It was very good! I had the onion rings and Mac and cheese for my sides. Onion rings were good and Mac and cheese was decent. My husband had the beef slide sandwich. He says it was good but was certainly nothing compared to Texas BBQ. Honestly the food was good. Don't come here expecting Texas BBQ cause you'll be disappointed. It's New Mexico so you can't expect glorious BBQ here.

If you want good pizza in Cloudcroft, go to Alamogordo and pick one up. Even a frozen pizza from the grocery store would be better than Pizza Pro stuff. I will eat almost anywhere once and usually have something good to say about the place, I wish I could take my time spent here back. AVOID.
