Rolled into chama to climb on trains & get some road weary coffee/ stumbled across fosters saloon & restaurant. Great "everybody-knows-everybody" small town, log cabin atmosphere. Many taxidermy beasts adorn the walls, most notably some black bears & a sombrero wearing deer head: ready to party. The breakfast was standard American fare, eggs, hash browns, bacon, toast, and surprisingly strong coffee. Come for the trains, stay for the stuffed bears & coffee.

If you are a train enthusiast, this is the place to stay. The rooms are simple, but adequate and comfortable. The food is great and the service is very friendly! Go out to the balcony to see and hear them working on the trains. You are taken back in time to the old West! Fabulous!

The bar was way cool. Old building, old bar. Atmosphere was chill. They have some stools and counter set up outside. You can kick it, have a beer, and watch the bustling Chama street life ;) The food was OK. I got a "Smothered Beef Burrito" (GREEN chile!!, of course). It was your basic, ground beef based burrito. Iit was $8.25. Came with rice and beans. Was decent sized and pretty filling. The best part is they sold PINTS of booze from behind the bar :) And regular prices too. I got a pint of Seagrams for around 8 bucks. Saved me the time searching for a liquor store in Chama. I've never been to a bar where they sold pints. I wonder if I could have ordered a Coke at the bar and stiffened it up a lil' bit on the cheap?...:)

Stopped to check out for lunch and a cold beer. Only had a cold beer. Very friendly bartender and some customers looked like they enjoyed mexican entree's. My friend and I very happy with only the cold bottle beer and people watching. Very rustic, but with outside bar table that you can watch the train museum.

Reasonable drinks prices, great decor, a wonderful bartender: great combo. No beers on tap --- but good bottle selection.
