Omg. This was the best Mexican food I have ever had. It was like I walked into someone's Hine and they fed me. The chicken was so fresh and juicy and the homemade corn tortillas were so amazing! If you hit Bernalillo and are ready to eat this is the place to do it.
This place is real Mexican food cooked my moms! This is NOT southwest (but you can order anything with green or red), this is not TX-MEX. This is Mexican! I've had the langua taco (not the best I've had, but still very good) and carnitas taco! I've also had the breakfast burritos and the chorizo with egg was excellent!!) They are known for serving entire meals in large sized molcajetes. This is obviously homemade, family owned, and a great little hole in the wall place that will meet your real Mexican food fix in the overflowing seas of southwest Mexican restaurants of Albuquerque!
Down Home Mexican Cooking!! I had the Green Chicken Enchilada meal. They even make their own Corn Tortilla's!!! My husband had Steak/Chicken Fajita's. Very impressed.

Abuelita’s New Mexican Restaurant

621 S Camino Del Pueblo
Bernalillo, 87004
Reviews:
The Food was great!! Salsa SUPER hot....Loved it!!
Very friendly service. Green chile stew is better at Range (chicken there, pork here). But Abuelita is still good and is very generous with the pork. Chile relleno: stuffed with ?cheddar instead of the usual cheese. But it had the best crust and texture of any I had in ABQ. Chimichanga, beef enchilada, and chicken taco were good but not remarkable. Sopapillas were undercooked (floppy, not at all crispy), flavorless, and way too oily. I had to wipe mine of with a napkin before eating, and my fingers still came away very shiny. All in all, we thought that La Casita and The Range were better options nearby.
After staying for a week at the Hyatt Tamaya, we ventured out for dinner and ate at Abueltias. It is the real deal- it is your auntie's restaurant. I had the cheese enchiladas, flat Christmas ( red and green chile) and a chile relleno. The beans are fabulous as was everything else. Nice people, all locals eating there. A must when you are in the area!

Pizza 9

Reviews:
Pizza so good and delicious and I would want to come here again when I feel like eating here.
Pizza 9 touts itself as a Chicago syle restaurant. Well, having lived in the windy city for six years, I can assure you that....maybe they're right. What is Chicago style? Well if you've spent some time there, you know it includes all different styles of pizza. Pizza 9 also had Italian Beef and some other staples. I'm not sure how authentic any of that stuff is, and we just got a thin crust cheese pizza and a salad. It was all just fine. The pizza crust was flaky and unlike anything I'd ever had before. Pretty good overall, really. Staff was friendly too.
Awesome awesome pizza! The owner was awesome enough to give us a small personal chicken Alfredo pizza so so yummy!!!!!! They even had us purchase 2 liters so we didn't have to buy the bigger cups for our group of 15! Super nice and super fast! Quality is 10/10!!!!! Thank you!!!!!

Starbucks

170 E Hwy 550
Bernalillo, 87004
Reviews:
This is my local Starbucks so, of course, I give them kudos just for being down the street; but it's also a great location by any measure (I've been a Starbucks junkie for 25 years)! The frontline staff is courteous and well-trained. They're all upbeat fun people! This community is under-served, though, so this particular store is very very busy.
Omg, longest drive-thru wait in history, I was hoping I'd see a car in front of me with a massive order of 20 drinks or something...nope, everyone had but one drink. I get to the window and after waiting for what was 15-20 minutes, one would think my coffee would be ready, instead there's 3 staff members with zero urgency complaining to each other how tired they are...they should go get in the drive-thru line and take a power nap, there would be plenty of time to do so... Admittedly, this was a Saturday morning, I come during the week and rarely wait very long...thus 3 stars rather than 1.
The red hair girl that always makes my drinks you are extremely gorgeous. I'm loyal to this location because of you!

Convenient, busy location. Friendly staff.
This is the best sonic drive in after I went for a run at the back roads from the ditch and also stopped here after and had the best lunch over and this is very good.
Really interesting drive thru resturant... options are to go to the drive thru or park and have drop off services (well what I've experianced anywaise). The drive through is quick and customer service is moderate. Drop off it's parking our car and ordering. Then one of the employees bring the order while roller blading. So cool I think. I've tried their food it's okay but we liked going through there for the drinks :)

Bad Ass Coffee & Cafe

965 F Hwy 550
Bernalillo, 87004
Reviews:
Truly amazing coffee and staff. I have appreciated becoming a regular! I have enjoyed every cup of coffee I have ordered.
Not terrible, not great. The lady taking orders was really nice and she gave my niece some stickers, so that made her really happy. Wont be in a rush to go back.
It had me at the name- Bad Ass Coffee & Cafe. I had to go check it out. Turns out, Bad Ass is a Donkey. "Surf's up Moon Doggie, grab Gidget and the boards," was my first thought while walking into this Hawaiian themed coffee shop. Everything is Hawaiian, the coffee, the snacks, the décor, and the laid back attitude. Just like I like it. No rush...no hurry...enjoy the service. I'm no coffee snob; I love the smell and flavor of a dark roast house blend. Don't add half the ingredients from a Baskin Robbins display case then top with whipped cream and slowly watch my muffin top expand. How will I fit into my board shorts? So, if you have time to relax, pull up a chair next to a faux palm tree and fill your lungs with the aroma of Kona Blend Coffee and daydream about your next session of 3 - 5 foot curls, this is the place... Or, just to allow traffic to diminish before you get back to your barista job at Starbucks.

Dion’s

520 Hwy 528
Bernalillo, 87004
Reviews:
Those of us who live in the the communities north of the ABQ metro area happy to have this Dion's available. A nice location, well laid out, with typically friendly staff. Great food, consistent, great value.
I read somewhere this was one of the most profitable pizza chains, I can see why. They've survived the great pizza war with Nunzio's, all the big box guys and the recession of '08. They remain consistent and do business where others fail. This weekend we stopped into the Bernalillo location, the service, food and atmosphere were just as they should be even though the whole place was very busy for lunch. It's a cool place for the family each location has a kids step up where the pizza creation process happens. They sell by the slice but a fresh baked whole pie is IMO better. Passers buy, stop in for a bite of a local chain that does its job well.
This location is a family favorite. We always order a pepperoni pizza, turkey salad, turkey sub and chips, and a gallon of sweet tea. Our food is take out and is always on time and taste impeccable. Good job Dion's we enjoy the great food and service.

The Feast: Santa Ana Star Casino

54 Jemez Canyon Dam Rd
Bernalillo, 87004
Reviews:
Yes there are more upscale casinos in the area, but you won't find a more friendlier and caring staff. I love this casino! The pit bosses are great. They have specials like three to one payouts for blackjacks and first card out is an Ace. They keep things fun and lively. You cannot drink at the gaming tables in New Mexico. This casino is no different. But they do bring around free coffee, soda and water. We have played at a number of Indian casinos around the country. Some are very lavish and grand. The Santa Ana is not lavish or grand. But it is the most fun we have playing blackjack . . . and that includes Vegas. The reason? The pit bosses, the casino customer service mentality and the helpfulness of the the entire staff. Update 11/20/2012: The casino is redoing much of the floor area. The pits and slots have moved. A new General Manager was hired. If you are a newbie that wants to learn how to gamble, this is a good location. BLACKJACK TIP: Ask for a blackjack odds card. You can use it at the table. It helps you learn when to hit, stand, double or split. This casino also allows surrendering as well. Like many casinos, dealers are not always in line with the odds card. For example, if a dealer has a 2 or 3 showing and you have a 12, the odds tells you to hit. Again, a great place to learn how to play. Food: We ate there on 11/19 at Sadies. Sadies is a well known Mexican eatery that makes salsa sold throughout the United States. We felt this was a great move by the casino. The food was plentiful and I do mean it was a lot! The bar has free Sadie's chips and salsa.
All you can eat crab and prime rib! Prime rib is not over cooked and you can get it rare(which is rare for a buffet) or grilled to your preferred doneness. Fresh oyster salad what more can you ask for?
This will be my last time coming to this buffet. The food was horrible! It tasted like it was sitting there for days, and wasn't even hot. The dessert tasted very old as well. This was the worst buffet I have ever been to. I would not recommend going to this buffet. I left there very disappointed, and sick to my stomach.

Reviews:
Great green chile bacon cheeseburger and they also have great breakfast burritos..I eat here when im in this area a need to eat on the run.Its fast and has never let me down on a good burger. Also like there BBQ sandwich and season fries.
Blakes burgers are alllllmost as good as In N Out, and their fries are better. especially the seasoned fries. Try the green chili sauce on a cheeseburger! This location had particularly good service, all smiles. (frankly, this chain has the best fast food service in terms of friendliness that i've ever experienced, but i'm from the east coast) Well played, New Mexico.
I was told that I had to go to the local "lotaburger" to experience the New Mexican flare of a fast food hamburger chain restaurant with a Mexican twist. They serve burritos, jalapenos and chili along side their burgers, fries and chicken tenders. This was an older restaurant, so the inside has seen it's day. The tables and floor where dirty, so we just ordered to go. Friendly and fast service My hubby ordered the Lotaburger with green chili and really liked it. I was wanting a breakfast burrito, but they stopped serving it at 11am, so I missed out. I may try another lotaburger at a different location.
