Love this place. I have trouble not ordering the same thing every time. Millie's burrito is awesome. My wife usually has enchiladas or tacos. We had chile cheese fries once with steak on top. Spectacular!
Breakfast or lunch, this little restaurant provides wonderful New Mexican food. Staff is so welcoming and friendly. For us, this is a must stop place on our trips to New Mexico.
It was just a great place and a great breakfast. Couldn't resist ordering a special from the specials board -- Huevos Rancheros with Carne Adovada with red sauce. The eggs, ordered over easy, were perfectly over easy. The beans were tasty with just the right amount of chew. The Carne Adovada was pulled rather than in chunks. The texture was tender and succulent. The sauce was right on with its flavor. It was not hot, but it had a nice chile-ness. The hash browns, not something I am used to with this dish, were cooked to a nice crisp with interior tenderness. Wish the corn tortilla under it all had been better, but that was minor. The side of flour tortillas was spectacular. They were freshly homemade and had a nice amount of charring from their grilling. Great taste and texture. The interior was clean and well maintained, the kitchen looked spotless, and the server was efficient, kind and considerate. There was nothing to deduct a star for and I can't imagine what they could do to earn any more than the 5 stars they are getting.

Doesn't look like much from the outside but it is super yummy. I have a son with a gluten allergy and the server was very knowledgable and helpful to find something he can eat. The pork was very tender and the best I have ever had. The food came really quick and it all included sopapilla which were fantastic. Would highly recommend for good authentic New Mexican food.
Not sure what was so great for everyone to give it a good rating.we went yesterday and it was such a let down.chips n salsa were store bought I'm sure.ordered soft tacos whith shredded beef but was served basically rolled enchiladas.Beans are runny, rice was blah.got taquitos have to be prefrozen definitely not fresh. I was so disappointed after reading so many good reviews.my waitress didn't check on us once .sadly I will not return here.the two stars are for the sopapillas which were fresh and good other than that not worth it.:(
This place doesnt look like much from the outside but the food was really good! I am not a native New Mexican but my travel partner is. He said it was amazing and I completely agree! I got the shredded beef enchiladas with red and green chili and my friend got the ground beef stuffed sopapia. Both were delicious! The salsa was good but the chips did not look homemade. Prob my only complaint. Quick, friendly and close to the highway. Guess that makes it worth the stop! I would def come back and also recommend you stop in too.

A family favorite for many years. We not only enjoy the food and service ourselves, we enjoy taking our visiting guests because we know they are very consistent.
I had the steak and enchilada special . It was amazing , the steak was cooked perfectly and the red chile was perfect . The avocado salad my grandparents ordered were very lack luster , it was literally just a small handful of shredded lettuce and a few slices of avocado and chips on the side . I guess it was enough for the oldies but I was very unimpressed . I ordered a margarita and let's just say it just tasted like a terrible cherry limeade with no trace of tequila , I will not order a margarita there again . But the steak and enchiladas are really amazing . So if you go get that combo and no margarita and you meal will stay perfect .
I was in town for business and took someone out to lunch. She recommended Pete's, and I am so glad I came. Turns out, the cook is the cousin of my business associate - she's been working there for decades. Doesn't write anything down, just cooks every day. Crazy! She came out to say hi and gave me a hug, even though she had no idea who I was. Staff was also really friendly - found out I wasn't from NM and brought out samples of different chilis and such for me to taste. I had eaten at multiple places in ABQ known for their NM cuisine. This was absolutely as good or better. The salsa was very flavorful without being too hot - you could really taste the cilantro, onion, and chilies. The chips were crisp, fresh, not greasy, and awesome. The spanish rice was clearly freshly made and probably the best I've ever had anywhere. The beans were seasoned nicely (FYI, they use LARD, you can tell by how rich they are). The red chili sauce on the carne adovada enchiladas was smoky, a little spicy, and some of the best I've had. The carne adovada has the same red chili sauce, but the pork could have been of higher quality. The drinks were refilled constantly and food came out very quickly. Restaurant is very clean and quite quaint - it used to be a home I think, judging by the layout. Prices were reasonable. You can buy their chili sauces, powder, pretty much anything to-go in pint-size containers. hell yes. How do I get this back to Dallas, now? I see several people have given this place bad reviews, and maybe they deserve it. I don't know, but my experience was exemplary and beyond delicious.

Burritos Alinstante

My out of town family request these breakfast burritos every time I visit. My son in law loves the green chile. My husband craves their chicharron. The two sizes fit everyone's appetites. Their VIP program makes frequent shopping so rewarding.
I go here almost every Friday. I love the breakfast burritos and the carne adovada burritos but sometimes I need to ask for them to drain the chili because my burrito gets soggy n falls apart other than that I love it
Fast, fresh and delicious are the words to describe this no-frills eatery. The lack of atmosphere might make newcomers turn around and walk out without sampling the food -- big mistake. Quality ingredients matched with some of the best red and green chili in New Mexico make the bland surroundings obsolete with the first bite. Rarely do I drive by without stopping for a meal or quick snack. I highly recommend Burritos Alinstante for breakfast, lunch, dinner and whenever.

I have been to this place since it opened. The owners are great people. The food is good and the menu has something for everyone. My favorite is the Flame Thrower, a burger with HOT green chile. But all the burgers are good. You can get a baked potato too packed with meat, cheese and chile. This last time I tried the carne adovada skillet. The red chile was delicious. The best part of the menu are the desserts. When my kids were younger, well even in college when the grades were great they got dessert here. There is dessert that is served in a bucket. 6 scoops of ice cream, whipped cream and chocolate syrup. Always the favorite! The decor could keep you busy for days checking everything out. I like to go in and see what is new.
This place is a refreshing break from the monotony of New Mexican restaurants in the area. It is located in the, now defunct, historic Onate theater. They left the screen and some theater seating so you get that theater vibe. The best part is the atmosphere. It's like English pub, meets biker bar, meets LA theater. The decor on the wall ranges from local artifacts, Santa Fe railroad, classic rock icons, to 60's collectibles, to pin up girls. You can spend your relatively short wait very quickly by just looking around. It's the kind of place to gather with friends and have a few beers and laughs. The burgers are tasty, cheap, and generously portioned. I have always found the service to be good, not great. I would stay away from the New Mexican food menu. I had a taco salad there that the veggies were cut too large, the beans tasted ranch style and I didn't really enjoy it. But the beef and buffalo they use for the burgers here are top notch. They can serve beer and wine but I don't think they have any on tap just bottles. Go here for the atmosphere, the burgers, and energy once in a while unusual cuisine like Ricjy mountain oysters.
Always get good service and Damn fine food here. If your out riding and want to go for a pretty ride head south on Coors till you get to Belen and stop here for some burgers n brews. Great decorations also.

Rio Grande Diner

Reviews:
This fifties-style diner looks almost as if it's a converted trailer home. It has a soda-jerk counter and several formica tables. Food is OK, but not great. The plus side was that it seemed to be the only sit down restaurant open over the Easter weekend, and it's right on Interstate 25 next to several motels. With more local feel than a fast food place, it would still be my choice over McDonalds. I had a New Mexico flat enchilada--fair, although not very hot. My brother had a taco salad. He only ate about half of it. Maybe he just wasn't hungry. People watching was more interesting here than it would have been at a fast food place. It's worth supporting somebody local and giving it a try.
The kind of little diner where it's hard to go wrong. Good basic burger and fries, chicken fried steak and gravy kind of place. Dependable fare- and it's in NM, so you add in great chile and huevos rancheros and it makes this a "can't miss" destination. Grandkids and grandpas alike will find this a good spot. Finish the meal with one of their homemade milkshakes and you've got all the makings of a memory-making spot for the grandkids.
Recently stopped here on a trip to see family in the area. Horrible food and service. Our food took forever and we had to ask them to pack it up to go. Doesn't look like the cleanest place and we will not stop here again.

Fat Sats Bar & Grill

Reviews:
Family took me to Fat Sat's assuring me this was one of the best places to eat in Belen. Despite a slight disappointment with chips, salsa, and queso, I was very satisfied with the meal. The green chile double cheese burger is what the restaurant is known for. The green chile isn't your typical chile. They offer that burger both on a bun and wrapped in a tortilla (though the tortilla version comes with less chile). The BLT is huge and the patty melt delicious. Steaks were highly recommended but I'll have to try that next time.
This used to be a very good place to go to for a great selection of pasta, salads, steaks, etc. Now they've reduced their menu CONSIDERABLY and it was mediocre. Also, their buffalo chicken wrap didn't say anything (on the menu) that it had tomatoes (which my daughter doesn't like) and it had more tomatoes than buffalo chicken! We told our server that our daughter doesn't like tomatoes and the wrap had a LOT of tomatoes. We told her that the menu didn't mention having tomatoes on it or we would have ordered it without tomatoes so she asked if we would like to order one without tomatoes, which we said yes and ordered. She charged us for BOTH. Very disappointed with our visit.
This place has frustratingly high potential. It has a cool Chicago pub type atmosphere. It is a great place for drinks. However the problem with this place is consistency. Several years ago the fried mushrooms were amazing, best I had. Few years later they changed the recipe and tasted like frozen reheats. Wife liked a chicken dish until they changed that too. Just noticed on their Facebook page they are changing the menu. I hope it has meals with quality ingredients that their menu has lost over the years. When they added a breakfast menu I was pleased and the food was good. If I had written this review the first year or two they had opened they would of got five stars. When people eat at your restaurant they return because they have a set expectation, when you constantly change your menu and preparation, people are unsure what to expect.

I eat here all the time! Food is so good! Can be quick if not too busy. But can take some time too, be patient, it's worth it! The original location is in Belen! Still open everyday! Los Lunas added a location too. Go enjoy! Plus...owners are super friendly and respect every single customer. If something's not right, they will correct it.
We go here often. Service is quick and the food good. Tacos, enchiladas everything is authentic and delicious.
My big sister introduced us to Rutilio's, and we're glad she did! We live in Las Cruces, and now stop, whenever we pass through Belen. They've a large selection of foods, and all of it is delicious! We're usually too full to enjoy desert, but Kim secretly told one of the staff (she knows them all), we were celebrating our 24th anniversary! They brought us a scoop of their famous fried ice cream! It was fantastic! They not only have delicious food, but they have great people working at Rutilio's! If you like food, you're sure to find something you'll enjoy! Also, they serve breakfast all day, and I can eat breakfast for every meal! Rufilio's became even better, when I found out they serve breakfast all day!!
