Wow. The waffles are light and fluffy on the inside, crunchy on the outside. Superb! Outstanding gluten-free waffle mixes, as well. Prosum coffee roasters' Ethiopian is excellent. I'm a fan.

I live nearby, so this is the obvious choice when I want to impress guests with a local breakfast. My one complaint is the speed -- prepare to wait. I say this upfront to explain why this review isn't five stars. But the other four are well earned. The batter is excellent, making for crispy shelled waffles with tender insides on a consistent basis. I love the buckwheat and the rye batters because I prefer a little flavor in my waffles, and the rice flour waffles are a close third. Dried cherries and pine nuts are my go to order. I would have never thought of adding pine nuts to waffles, but the rich, pliant little nuggets are completely perfect. Also, because I like overkill, I do the port cherry topping, or the pure maple syrup (sorry, I'll never get on board with agave). If I'm feeling savory, the smoked salmon savory waffles hit the spot. The coffee is good, there's outdoor seating for when the weather is nice, and the atmosphere is always fun and friendly. Definitely worth checking out.

Tia B's. My husband makes the best waffles. They are fresh from scratch with a slightly crisp outer shell and a fluffy inner meat. He makes them for me when he's feeling nice. He serves them with pasture butter and real maple syrup. I always list it as one of his assets. Waffle skills are pretty great. I mean if you can't make good waffles, what can you do? I gotta admit, I let another waffle in. Shhhh, don't tell him I cheated on his waffles. Azteca- seriously, I love you. Your fluffy, chocolatey sweetness has me feigning for more. The Bombay coconut waffle.... the things I'd do for another bite. Tostada waffle-weakness with pico on top. The atmosphere is chill, the coffee is excellent. I'm hooked. The owners are also lovely, friendly as can be. Dogs are welcome on the front patio. Although, I prefer not to dine with my my dog or anyone else's, for that matter:) If loving someone else's waffles is wrong, then I'm pretty sure I don't wanna be right. Next time my husband offers up his waffles, I'll have to think of Tia B's crazy-good waffles. They have serious waffle skills.

As much as I love The Waffleria I'll have to return. I could have dealt with the 45-minute wait with ease. This is how much I adore The Waffle-Benitos. My mom however was quite annoyed that they were out of a couple of breakfast dishes she wanted. So *sad face* we left. I still give them 5 because their food is wonderful.

Here for a Yelp Elite event. We had a range of waffles from savory to sweet! All were delicious, so we'll be back for a regular meal. The only thing missing is Chicken and Waffles, hopefully they'll have that on the menu by the time we return.

Really good waffles. They have a great selection of toppings! The eggs and sausage are pretty good, but not the star of the show. Pet friendly at the front, but be prepared for long waits. Sunday around 11am you might expect 30min to 1 hour wait for food to arrive. Otherwise it's a great breakfast place to go!

Waffle lovers rejoice. The search for a waffle sanctuary is no longer. Take my hand and follow me to waffle heaven. First off the place is cute as heck. The patio was lovely, just enough shade, sweet little picnic tables. You might even choose to sit at the long table and share with strangers or as I like to call them, new friends! Okay back to business, waffle business. I got the bennie style waffles that had a velvety, lovely, delightful green chile sauce. It was on the spicy side which made me make my serious, is this real life face, followed by a loud Oh YEAH! The eggs were basted and had the go to, money, golden egg yolk we all long for. Under the eggs was perfectly seared black forest ham. Such a great classic combo. I also asked for a side of avocado which I highly recommend on this dish. So this was all on top of a fluffy waffle that I think was made by special waffle elves. It wasn't soggy, it wasn't too dense, it wasn't too light, it had a wonderful texture. A+ The wait was a little long, but being outside on a Sunday I didn't really notice as much as I would otherwise. We were ready to enjoy, relax, and feast. The portion was really big and in all honestly I was full after half but alas I cleaned my plate. This is definitely on my go to brunch places and I will be back to try all their other amazing looking dishes. Carne Adovada waffle I'm coming for ya! Oh special mention to my friends Blackberry Mocha Latte, I only had a drink but it was fantastic. Now go forth waffle enthusiasts, with this knowledge in hand, and feast.

Where can you eat and please your gluten -free sister -in -law, sweet seeking children, savory craving husband, vegan self? My answer, Tia B's Waffleria. I came here for a Yelp event and I'm so happy that I did! Where else can you get a gluten free, vegan waffle and think it's delicious? This quaint brunch restaurant is tucked on the backside of nob hill. There are two lovely outdoor patios and a small dining room. Waffles are made to order. You get to create your own waffle. First, there are a handful of batters to choose from (great for people with dietary restrictions), next you pick the inside ingredients and finally the toppers. We sampled several waffles: smoked salmon on buckwheat drizzled with dill, sliced red onion and capers; the Tostada waffle (my favorite)- this waffle was made with a blue corn batter layers with black beans, carne adovada, chile, onions, tomatoes, cilantro and cheese; salted goat's milk with caramel and green apples; ham and cheese on buttermilk (I'd add green chile and egg to this one next time); and a Bombay coconut and mango waffle (vegan and gluten free). These are just some wonderful creations-let your taste buds and imagination go and the combinations are limitless. I love that tis business uses fresh (local) ingredients, ethically gathered coffee beans, quality waffle irons and that the owner and staff take pride in their work! The only tip, avoid Sunday morning. The owner said they get a 300% increase in business and that the wait can be long.

Ever live in a small town? No? How 'bout 'Burque. This is a big city, yes? Not, like, BIG big, but bigger, right? We don't have an IKEA, but I mean, we have a minor league baseball team. There's a direct flight to NYC (one). You can find charcuterie and cronuts if you scavenge. People are somewhat aware of this thing called Yelp, even if they think it's a dog website. We're halfway there. We're a work in progress. Tia B's is the flip-side to the small town foodie curse. For those of you paying attention to the new biz scene around here, man, we can definitely operate like a bunch a' ignant peeps from the boonies. Dave & Buster's opened their doors and people went apesh*t. Same thing for Cheddar's, BJ's, Rock & Brews, the list goes on and on. Lines out the door, months on end, for what, exactly? I'll tell ya what: familiarity. The same scene, the same food, something vaguely similar to that trip you took to Vegas a few years ago. And I get it, I do. We're habitual creatures of comfort. We're genetically pre-engineered to dig on this stuff. But the franchise overlords have sold this city a bill of bad goods. Seriously, folks, we can do better than Cheddar's. When this waffleria launched, it experienced a reception tantamount to the buzz of a franchise joint without the marketing budget. Everybody, and I mean everyone I knew, told me to check it out. Word on the street said the place was gonzo on weekends after about 9am, and that's still the case. As it should be. First off, you're dining in somebody's house; that's what it was before the waffles came in, anyway. The menu dabbles in pure gluttony, it's honestly an orgy. Lavender whipped cream, anyone? Chocolate-caramel-mango-goat cheese-bacon-stuffed gridirons? Imperial cups of iced java? Gluten-free brethren and vegans, unite. There's even a non-waffle menu for those us (myself included) that aren't too keen on waffles to begin with. But if you have an inclination, even a sneaking suspicion, to give these waffles a try, I beg you, do so. And do yourself a favor: visit on a weekday, avoid the Portlandia insanity. Give in to that demon on your shoulder. I'm a slut for these eats. You know you want to join me.

Wow! The waffles were amazing and unexpected! Although there was a significant wait, the waffles were worth it. My husband and I will definitely be back!

Food is wonderful, as always, but there was a new girl working and her abruptness and cold attitude took away from our usual enjoyable experience. I tried chatting with her while we were ordering, but she ignored my witty banter. With the place being so small, your interaction with employees makes or breaks your visit. I am so excited to see Tia B's getting special events going!

I've been a big fan of TBB's for many years. It's embarrassing that it took me this long to get to the Waffleria, but I'm so happy I did. They are so friendly here, which makes your morning breakfast even better! My go-to fav is the huevos rancheros blue corn waffles (topped with red AND green, please!). Their coffee drinks are not to be missed either - try the Honey Latte, you won't be disappointed! I also LOVE that their front patio is dog-friendly. Until next time Tia B's!

I imagine a hip, cool restaurant is one that plays on several of my greatest fantasies: Numerous choices I want so badly, I'd want to try them all every time I go there. No favorite item I get every time I go there with the wait staff knowing the drill the moment I walk in the door. Every time I do choose though, each bite is an individual orgasm. The ambiance matches the food of the place. Tastefully casual or elegantly upscale and romantic. Space is small. Maybe 10, 12 tables, tops, and a frickin' ass long line out the door. Every time. Tia B's Waffleleta -- did I say that? -- I mean, Tia B's Waffleria does that. It doesn't matter whether it's sweet or savory. Veggie or meat. I'm lovin' every bite and don't want it to end. Flavors involved are many. A few of the sweet ones are salted goat's milk caramel, lavender, mango and blackberry orange. Savory flavor a are bacon and eggs, smoked salmon, Black Forest ham and black beans and green chile. I wish they had the option to do a sampler plate every day of the week. On weekdays they will let you order halves of two different concoctions -- split plates, they call them. But definitely not on the weekend, even if for some odd reason there is no line behind you, and it's super quiet. Also during the week, they will do flights, a sampler of four different waffles. But for now when we go there on the weekends, I'll settle for stealing bites from my lover's plate. Tia B's has outdoor seating, a relief to the seating sitch, when it's warmer. And they have recently added another waffle iron to their line-up, which should calm the long line a bit. I know they call it a waffleria, but to me it's a waffleleta. I don't know, it reminds me of a little European restaurant you might find in the foreign film, My Beautiful Laundrette.

Ate here on a random morning for breakfast. I'll get the bad outta the way right away: 1. The wait to order wasn't the best, they were a little slow but I've only eaten here once so that may be an anomaly, either way not a deal breaker. 2. The seating: It was kinda cold/windy outside so seating options were cut by about a third. Tables are first come first serve which is fine if you don't have a large party. For two adults and a 7 year old we had both trouble finding a table that wasn't occupied, an extra chair, and after that we were pretty cramped. Aside from the two negatives above my experience was good. The food came out pretty quickly. It was very good, and I didn't feel gross for hours after I stuffed my face which is a welcome change from every new mexican spot that slathers all items including their water with some form of chile. I'm normally annoyed by large menus but this place has one that works. There's a lot of selection but it doesn't feel like I have to make a decision between 50 types of cuisine, it's waffles and they do them well. The type of waffle, what's cooked in it, type of batter ect. is what provides the variety and it works. I'll go back for sure, getting there before the breakfast rush is compulsory.

hmmm - where to begin? This place is the mac-daddy of waffles! Are you gluten-free or even vegan? Well, they've got you covered!!! Tia B's La Waffleria is a small, cozy waffle place that has patio, outdoor, and indoor seating AND makes delicious waffles - pretty much every waffle you could think of, but if you want to stick to the plain jane regular waffle, they've got that too, of course. Extra whip cream please!

My friends have been coming here about one a week for the last month. The other day, I finally decided that I should probably pop in and see what the fuss was about. The place is seriously just a house that was converted into a small restaurant with ample outdoor seating. I had the bacon and eggs waffle and my husband had the rancheros waffle. I was a little confused when my waffle came with syrup, but it was a pretty awesome combination. Now I understand why my friends never have leftovers. The front patio is pet friendly while the back patio is not. The sun really isn't an issue because they have these large sails covering patio. Food was quick because it was an odd time, but there are signs warning that it could take up to 45 minutes during peak times. Not a lot of parking available, but it's worth the trek if need be. If anyone is in the area and needs some waffles, I implore you to give this place a try.

Waffles are in my top 3 when it comes to favorite foods. In fact, my first purchase when I moved out on my own was a waffle iron, and in that year I had waffles pretty much every morning. Tia B's does a fantastic job!! The waffles are the perfect texture with a bit of crunch to the outside. I had the pumpkin pie waffles which was made from a blue corn batter, topped with whipped cream, and served with a side of grapes. My husband had the salmon basted egg. Of the two I would definitely say the salmon was the better value. It's a ton of food, and had a great flavor. The pumpkin pie waffles were good, but after my 3rd one (of 4) I couldn't carry on. There's nothing to take away from the sweetness. It'd be great if they had a sweet and savory option, with 2 waffles from one category and 2 from the other. The place itself is cute, would be great to sit on their patio on a warm day. The service was awesome! Allison took our order and was beyond friendly and helpful. She deserves a raise ;-)

As a bit of a waffle snob, I was not sure what to expect. The long line certainly helped build some anticipation ... and kind of hurts the easy brunch feeling. That said, the waffles were absolutely amazing. The line location and wait for food could use some improvement, but it was definitely worth the wait!

What a yummy find on our cross country trip! My husband and I loved the fresh flavors this place had to offer. I ordered the Guadalajara omelette which was delicious! The avocado was very fresh. I can't give it the full 5 stars because it was lacking any kind of spice. It could have use a little salsa or chile sauce but was still delicious. We also ordered waffles (because how do you go to a Waffleria and not order waffles...?) and they were great! The syrup is just lightly sweet which I love. The best part of the entire meal was my big macadamia nut latte. Perfectly lightly sweetened with a delicious nutty smell. Over all great but a little pricey for breakfast. Our whole meal was about $36 before tip. I would go back :)

Today was my first time here. I ordered the Azteca. It was wonderful. The menu stated a small side of fruit which was a slice of orange and a small slice of strawberry, so not much. The waffle was delicious and the homemade whipped cream was perfect. My his an got the bacon and eggs waffle and my nephew got the Dark Chocolate Raspberry Waffle. We are outside and there were tons of flies, but I will definitely be back.

Oh man! This place is wonderful! Here I am in ABQ and my cousin says we should go to this place. It's Amazing she says. I have been three times this week she says. So we go. Oh man! Waffles. Wonderful, yeasty, crusty on the outside waffles topped with everything you could ever want to top them with! Green Chili, yes. Fruit, yes. Mango, yes. Anything you could ever want, yes. Seriously, go try this place if you are down in ABQ like I was. WOW!

Just had the pumpkin pie waffle with buttermilk and I am in heaven! The menu is amazing and I can't wait to try more of the menu. My friend got the salmon and loved it and another did bacon in the batter and was very happy with it as well! Their Red Rock Roasters coffee is incredible and so is the spicy hot chocolate! Everything we ordered was the best waffle anything ever!

Abq, Local, N.M. Shop and Staff The inside of the shop is small. It has a fireplace inside which makes it cozy. It is in an old house that has been turned into a restaurant. I love how an old building is updated and used instead of a new building being build. The outside is great. It has lots of seating for big groups. The parking is street side with a few parking spaces right next to the restaurant. The staff are very friendly. They bring the food to your table. When you go it is almost guaranteed there will be a line. This is one of the hidden jewels of Albuquerque. A very nice menu, and easy to read. Food and Experience I love to customize my waffle, and yet thay have very delicious chef inspired waffles. You can choose blue corn, whole wheat, as well as other options. You also have the option of fruit, meats, and eggs. The custom waffle I enjoy getting is the buttermilk batter, raspberry house made sauce, with a side of sausage. The Bombay coconut is my favorite waffle on the menu.

Due to them being short staffed during my visit, the wait to receive my food was a little long, but was worth the wait! Excellent breakfast choice! My girlfriend got the Madrid (their chorizo omelet), my buddy created his own waffle with eggs, bacon and bacon inside of the waffle itself. I got the goat milk and salted caramel waffle and it was stunning!! We all greatly enjoyed our meals. Price was a little more than I was expecting to pay, but nevertheless delicious and worth it. I'll definitely try to make it back here before I move out of state in a couple weeks.

Not just a waffle joint-- they have a bunch of different batters that you can choose from. I chose the "Pumpkin Pie," which was a blue corn-based batter with pumpkin added. It was delicious, yet gluten free. This made it lighter and much less filling (in a good way). I will definitely be back soon.

Sitting at Tia Betty Blues, waiting an inordinately long time for our food after an inordinately long wait in line (because it's worth it), my friend told me about a "Tia Betty's Waffle Place" opening soon. I was intrigued; the blue corn buttermilk pancakes are awesome, and one of the few things for which I "break" (vegan). La Waffleeria is an awesome place held back only by its physical layout. Much like their older sister, La Waffleria is great when not busy, but definitely suffers when folks show up. Also like their big sis, what La Wafflearia lacks in useful space they make up for with ingenuity, and do so with a smile on their face. The menu is pretty varied: blue corn buttermilk, rye, goat milk... they even have a gluten-free, vegan waffle made from rice flour and coconut milk. You can build your own (but with so many options, where do you start?) or go with one of their creations. So far we've had the vegan/gluten-free coconut/mango waffle (sweet, but not overly so), something with spinach and green chile cream sauce, and the "tostada waffle" with red, green, cheese & black beans. All are excellent! The outdoor seating is really nice. Indoors the place is just a converted home; there's seating for a few folks, but get there early or late.

Tia B's la Waffleria is a great place. We loved that they had vegan batter. The rice/coconut batter was so filling I couldn't finish my plate. The coconut whipped cream was great too and I topped mine off with some pure maple syrup and bananas - so good. The girls working this morning were super friendly and nice. We'll be back!

Waffles with a twist! They have very unique combinations and the build-your-own options are mind boggling. My gf and I drove half way across town and it was worth it! We had a nice breakfast outside on the patio. The repurposed house is quaint and very clean from what I could see. I had one of the "savory" waffles with red chile, carne and eggs. It was amazing! The waffle was light and airy. The red chile ranks up there with some of the best I've had. It even came with a little salad with what I believe was a raspberry vinaigrette. The gf had a blueberry waffle with fresh whipped cream dollops and a small grape sprig as her side. A very fresh, not too heavy meal to start the day. The only knock...our breakfast was almost $30! Ouch. Needless to say we will be going back!

We have been here 3 times. I recommend coming early to avoid the crowd or try a mid week lunch. We have really enjoyed the food each time. The wait time for food is pretty short. They have great suggested waffles both savory and sweet. If you don't see something that wets your whistle you can order from their build your own waffle menu. My favorite is the Waffle Benitos. They have a good children's menu and a couple of highchairs too. The staff is very friendly and out going. I really hope this restaurant does well here.

Great Waffles that's for sure I also really love that location that they have. My only knock was that the table that we sat was a little dirty just make sure you clean that place nice and tidy and it will succeed. The girl at the counter was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu which I find very important. keep up the good work.

The decor is nice flies are inside and out no escaping. If your looking for that "health taste" you'll get them in these waffles. Friendly environment!

My wife and I stopped in for a late breakfast. What a wonderful restaurant. We both had southwest style toppings on our way waffles. I had carne adobada on mine and death was wonderful. The coffee was very flavorful and tasty. We enjoyed the blue corn waffles so much we had to buy our own waffle maker to make the waffles at home. I look forward to our next visit as I think we both will try a sweet waffle with all the sweet wonderful toppings. I can't wait!

I will re-review this eatery when I finally get to eat there! I am not a fan of standing in a line to place an order! I prefer table service! So we go on a Sunday for our first visit. Picnic table seating no seat backs! Again not my fave! L-O-N-G line to order, I left! I was hungry didn't feel like waiting! Seemed like the staff was pulling double duty chores and couldn't catch up!

I thought the decor was adorable and the waffles were huge and delicious! We shared blue corn waffles with black beans carne adovada chile and cheese, plus buckwheat waffles with blueberries and maple syrup. All delicious and great value for the quality/portion sizes. And like I said before the place is adorable. Kudos on serving fair trade and locally roasted coffee options. I'll be back:)

  • Zen C.

This place is brilliant! They only had two waffle irons when I went, I hope they added more since this is the whole concept. I had a blue corn waffle with carne adovada rancheros. Ahmazing! Sweet or savory, they have anything and everything you have ever dreamed about doing with a waffle.

  • Jesse M.

I had never tried waffles with such a distinct taste. The blue corn with queso is my favorite. The coffee was spot on and my daughters were in love with the blueberry and the mango. My brother who is from El Paso was in shock of how well the green chile worked with the waffle and the savory toppings. He said there was nothing to compare it too over there. Hands down, this is a cool place to go and have a hearty breakfast and awesome coffee.

I don't usually write reviews, but after hearing how great this place was, I tried it out and was completely disappointed. Went on a Sunday morning (July 19, 2015), waited 45 minutes for food, and it was not good at all. Had the Rancheros Waffles, and they were terrible. Bland, and spicy-bland. The blue corn waffle had the texture of mush, I couldn't even finish eating it. My friend had the bacon and egg waffle, and it was burnt/over cooked. The staff was not very friendly, I ordered iced tea, and it took a good 20 minutes before they even brought it out to the self serve station. I would not recommend this place, you can get a better waffle at the Waffle House.

  • Cristina M.

I'm waffling (Ha! Get it?) between 3 and 4 stars. I think a second visit is in order before any final judgment is passed. I had the Bombay Coconut which consisted of four (!!) gluten-free waffles topped in mango puree, coconut milk whipped cream, and a fancy slice of mango + a side of carne adovada, since I heard it was great. My son had the kids' 1/2 waffle (2 waffle squares) with whipped cream + egg + bacon + sliced strawberries. My daughter had a Make-Your-Own wheat/buttermilk waffle with strawberries and maple syrup (also 4 waffle squares) + small grape cluster + side of sausage (2 patties). The good: -Great tasting, high quality ingredients (I saw some of the raw ingredients--organic tomatoes, etc.). -A ton of food for your penny (our entire meal was ~$26+tip--sides are only $1.50). -Can sit inside or out. -I love having new breakfast options. -The lady taking orders was friendly. The less good: -Long wait in line at 8:45 on a Sunday morning (I was the third in line and waited 15 minutes to order). -Slow service-the food took a long time to come out. -The tables outside were filthy--covered in a layer of fine dirt. Clearly the server(s) hadn't wiped down the tables that morning. -This is one of those self-service type places with some waiter/waitress service. I left a tip when I ordered, but then it wasn't clear what service was reasonable to expect. I asked the server about extra syrup and she told me to take a bottle off another table. I asked if there were to-go boxes inside, getting the vibe she didn't want to bring me anything, and she said yes, but when I went in and looked around, I couldn't find any. I wasn't going to stand in line for a half hour (the line was much longer at that point) waiting for boxes. When the server *finally* came back out again (15 minutes later), I asked her if she could bring me two boxes because I didn't find any. She did. This server struck me as wanting to be a bit surly, but she mostly contained herself. -Way too much food for one person. There is not a person in the world who needs to eat four waffle squares.I certainly wouldn't have ordered a side of carne had I realized the size of the waffles! The kids' meal would have been plenty for me. Now I know to share. -Disappointed by the meat sides. The sausage was very greasy and struck me as frozen patties--they could make some in-house green chile turkey sausage and that would be amazing. The carne adovada was far from the best I've ever had. It had the consistency of soupy pulled pork. The chile flavor was just okay. In fact, it reminded me a bit of the Frontier's carne adovada, but not as good. I've never been to Tia Betty Blues and despite its rave reviews, my husband told me not to bother. If this is the same carne, then I just may never bother. So... Great idea for a breakfat spot. I like the idea of the savory waffles, though I don't always like sweeter dishes that are made savory; however, after living in the Netherlands for a summer, I grew quite fond of their savory pannekoeken (pancakes), so I can buy into the idea of savory waffles. In theory. Will I ever try one? Hard to say. I'm all for the local businesses, so give this place a try. I think a full service restaurant would make people less grumpy about the wait times, but if you go knowing what to expect, it's probably not so bad. My last word of advice: Share a meal with someone. The leftovers the next day are a disappointing, mushy mess (still flavorful, but mealy and soggy).

Didn't love the menu as much as Tia Betty Blue's original place, but the location is fabulous, as is the outdoor patio space.

Man, I may get fat-now that Tia Betty Blues, sister restaurant just opened a couple blocks from me. This is a waffle themed restaurant. Everything to do with waffles, both sweet, and savory. There are a few options from their other restaurants menu, and many new dishes. I had the bacon, and egg waffles with maple syrup( the bacon is baked right in the waffles). The boyfriend had the orange waffles with sour cream, and mandarins. Both waffle executions were masterful, my eggs were scrambled, and a little odd textually. Still they have only been open a couple weeks, so no biggie. Next on my list to try are either the apple goat cheese, or cheery goat cheese. You can also build your own majestic combination. The most expensive menu item is the salmon dish and it was around 12$. Most combos are in the 8-9$ range. You order at the counter and give you a flag to put on the table of your choice. Hours of operation are 7-2 m-f and 8-2 S-Sun. If you don't want waffles then you are out of luck, and too bad for you. If you fantasize about gourmet renditions of waffle greatness- then you are a sure addict. Maybe they should start holding waffelholics anonymous nearby?

So glad we finally tried this yummy breakfast/brunch spot. The menu is separated between savory or sweet which helps when choosing what to feed your tummy. The choices are unique enough to make you want to keep coming back to try. Beware of the portions - they are large and because the waffles are so good you'll want to finish every bite. Also a plus for coffee lovers : they serve delicious coffee and other speciality coffee drinks . For those reading other reviews complaining on the wait - weekends can be crazy but we've been here twice during the week and there was no wait. So give this cute place a try :)

I really love this place, the food was great, the atmosphere was good and the employees were super friendly. My daughters and I had brunch and each of our waffles were yummy. I ordered the pumpkin pie waffles, which are gluten free made with blue corn. The cinnamon nutmeg whipped cream was really good! These waffles are definitely rich, but very good. One daughter had the bacon and egg waffle. The bacon is cooked directly into the waffle! It was really good. My other daughter had the waffle benito's. Which is a waffle with ham, eggs and green chile cream sauce. The menu says it is a mild sauce but it definitely had a kick. It was sooooo good. This was probably my favorite, too bad it wasn't what I ordered ;) Next time I guess! And there will definitely be a next time!

Really good place! Had the pumpkin pie waffle and it changed my life. The only gripes everyone has is the wait, i didn't think it was too bad for such a great place. Also dog friendly outside seating. If you're starving id say get a snack because there is a wait. Plan on waiting and you will give them 5 stars. Little places like this lose their charm when they get bigger so I hope they keep it the way it is!

This is a place with a boat load of potential but... the set up made it near impossible to get decent seating or be able to hear the people sitting next to us talk. You order at the back of what I assume is an old house. Which means that on busy mornings, the line is long and goes through the center of the restaurant. Wait staff had to navigate around the line, people are standing around and there is little to no room to think or eat. If you want a glass of water, you must be aggressive and say "excuse me" five or so times to make your way back to the front to get to the water. It is a sensory nightmare but could be so easily fixed. With that being said, the food was amazing. Each person in our three person party had something different and each thing I sampled was great. Reasonably priced for the amount of food you get and an experience unlike what you would get anywhere else in town. I would return and recommend this place to others but would really like to experience it on a quiet morning or with a different approach (maybe abolish the order before you fight over a small table to sit at rule?)

Nice little spot for some great waffles. We went here based on it's yelp reviews. The food was really good. It was a unique experience it is ran out of a converted house which gives it a cool vibe, but can be a little cramped. Ordering was walk up and I think that things would flow better if they offered table service. My stars are based on the food we had. My wife had the coconut waffles with a mango sauce and they were good. I had a savory waffle the rancheros and it was great. Their green chili hollandaise sauce was terrific. Go for the food, enjoy the settings, be patient with the parking and the ordering and you will have a good time.

I absolutely love this place. Can't stop coming back. Every visit is perfect. The waffles are so light and tasty and come in many different varieties, my favorite dishes being the waffles benitos, the waffles espinaca, and the blue lavender waffles. This place is defiantly one of the best breakfast spots in Albuquerque.

Finally was able to get some waffles. Since my first review I've been there twice and was fairly impressed. They have a diverse and creative menu with something for everyone. The staff was personable and service was quick. I've tried the ranchero waffles and the smoked salmon waffle. Both were good but the salmon one had the most flavor. My only complaint is it's too much waffle for one person to comfortably consume. When we were getting up to leave I noticed I wasn't the only one leaving half a waffle. Probably best for everyone if they gave reasonable portions fit for us non-dinosaurs.

My wife's and my first attempt to dine here several months ago ended after a 25-minute wait in line because the cashier/hostess told us there'd be a 45-minute wait. For waffles. And this after she'd poured my "homemade chai tea" straight from a cardboard box. Today my wife and I called ahead to inquire as to the wait time. When informed there was no wait, we sped to the restaurant, stood in line for five minutes, and placed our order. When I asked if the orange juice was fresh squeezed the cashier replied that they didn't squeeze it in house, but it is fresh-squeezed. At $2.50 for a 12-ounce cup of OJ I expected Odwalla or Naked juice. Nope. She poured the OJ straight from a gallon jug. "Wait... Is that Kirkland brand orange juice?! I'm not paying $2.50 for juice you bought at CostCo." The cashier let me take the OJ at no charge. It proved as unremarkable as I'd expected. My wife ordered the Ham And Cheese Waffle with a basted egg and a regular coffee. I ordered the Bombay Coconut Waffle and a water. Our bill totaled $23. The Bombay Coconut Waffle features a rice-flour batter of insufficient texture for a waffle. It turned into a gross-feeling soft mush in the mouth. The coconut-flavored whipped cream lacked both body and flavor. The mango purée syrup tasted okay on its own, but its flavor competed with the flavor of the rice crud and "whipped" cream. I ate five bites and stopped. Disgusted, I covered the remains with a napkin. My wife's Ham and Cheese Waffle with basted egg proved as unsettling. As my wife said: "It's a low-quality syrup. And the waffle is tasteless. The egg was okay. The toasted Eggo waffle with egg and melted cheese that I make at home is much better. Cheaper. And with much better syrup." We frequent La Waffleria's sister restaurant. But we shall never return for this awful waffle.

I so want to like this place. We waited over 20 minutes for our food, only to be delivered two very dry, bland waffle plates. We both made the mistake of ordering the waffle huevos. The chile was hot, but otherwise flavorless. The waffle was dry and mealy. The cheese was unmelted. Blegh. The service? Awful. The only server working the patio was unfriendly and very unwelcoming. We walked in as first timers and were greater with nothing more than sideways glance and zero acknowledgement of our presence. "Excuse me... should we just seat ourselves?" we asked after flagging her down. "Ya. Go ahead. You order inside" she replied shortly. Despite empty tables, I saw several other people come in, stand and wait for someone to greet them, and then leave after being passed several times without being acknowledged. These restaurant owners have a good reputation in town and I can't imagine they earned it with service like this. I'm hoping our experience was just the result of the normal growing pains that new restaurants sometimes face. So we will give them a little time to work out the kinks and will be back to give them another shot.

I will be back for more waffles! I know that this place has some hit and miss reviews, but for us today it was a hit! The place needs a little updating, but I am willing to overlook that since it's newer, and it is hard to do much in the winter. However, the help-yourself silverware station needs to go, and the cashier should not be in charge of touching drinks (i.e. loose tea) if she is also touching money. Ok, on to the food: I ordered the Blue Lavender waffles and my husband opted to Build Your Own. The blue corn waffles paired with blueberries and lavender whipped cream was SO delicious. It was the perfect amount of flavor, not soggy, but not too dry either. The grapes were a weird side to fruit waffles, but whatever. My husband had the blue corn buttermilk waffles with sliced strawberries and a side of sausage. I loved that they came with melted butter. The sausage patties were very large and flavorful, which is always nice considering how costly breakfast meats can be. The meal came out quick and warm. I can't say one bad thing about our yummy food. We sat at a table by the fireplace and just enjoyed our brunch. It was a bit cramped in there, but since its winter I can understand that the capacity has been cut in half. The staff was really friendly. A man came and asked how everything was, and when I mentioned the touching the loose tea while operating the cash register as our ONLY suggestion, he was very apologetic and said it would be fixed. There was someone there working on building and a person coming around and bussing tables for incoming customers. I think this place is going to make it, and we will definitely be back to try another delicious breakfast.

Yum! Excellent variety of waffles! It was really hard to choose. Great drink selection. High quality ingedients. I noticed other menu items but I was blinded by the waffles. It was very crowded on Sunday after 10, so don't be surprised if you need to wait. The ambiance is quaint but not nice. The service is basic. You're going for the food. I would make this a regular haunt, if I ate breakfast and if my husband ate waffles or omelettes.

I have to start with a two star because of bad timing I fear. My friend and I arrived at 1100 and of course it was brunch rush. We waited about 30 mins in line to order. I had a musical at 1 but thought we'd have more than enough time to taste these delicious waffles! We were told it was a 40 min wait which I though wouldn't be a problem. I can power food in my mouth especially if it is with the wait! Alas! My friend who got their at 1030 walked by to get a Togo box bc she too was going to this musical and just received her food at 1215. I ended up having to leave at 1230 to make the show. We were given complimentary berries minutes before the food came out. :( $17.00 and nothing to show for it. A bit bummed but understand they are new and are figuring things out. I hope to come back and have a better experience during the week. Two star for the waffles that were being delivered looked amazing

This is an interesting place with potential to be a nice weekend Nob Hill go-to breakfast place, much like the grove is to LODO area...but the process needs improvement. For example, unless you have been here before, it's unclear when you enter if you seat yourself, wait in line, or go to the kitchen and make your own waffles? The order station is tucked away in the back of the entrance and the line of confused patrons does not help to make things clear. The menu is exotic and meant for waffle aficionados, but the rest of us could use more visual cues to help in knowing what to order, like they do in sushi bars. I had to guess my order based on someone else's plate that was nearby, so I was disappointed when it came totally different than expected. The staff is friendly enough, at least one of them, the other one is too aloof (you know which one you are) and doesn't like to be bothered with questions like, where is the coffee? How about the condiments? How am I supposed to know where things are? I don't work here. Again, more confusion. The friendly one could pass as the owner, hard working, professional and personally invested in the success of this business, (and to her credit, spoke very highly about the real owner) but she is overwhelmed with wearing too many hats. Where is the owner? The real owner should make an effort to be seen, and engage with his customers. Or at the very least bring in a manager, or make the one hard working friendly employee a partner.

I really like this place. Although I can't give more than 3 stars at this time, the food was amazing! Pumpkin waffle with grapes on the side was very good. Bacon eggs and waffle was also delicious. Both are fine without syrup. They have real maple syrup too. Not sure if it's extra charge. good food, good compliments Cons. Flies, loud (echoing), service (chef was more help than waitress), sticky tables This will be a 5star as soon as they can provide a relaxing atmosphere while enjoying their one of a kind culinary creations.

Incredible. A friend suggested Tia B's for a group breakfast and it was perfect. Fun little atmosphere, fast service, amazing food. I had the Bombay coconut waffles which were delicately sweet, and filled with shredded coconut along with the coconut flour. I literally licked my plate, not gonna lie. Friends all had savory options, the ranchero waffles and the bacon and eggs. They were all highly satisfied as well.

Yum! I love this place for its food and coffee. Have been twice so far and can't wait to go back. Parking challenging, but the food is worth it especially if you like its sister restaurant. Had port infused cherry waffles with goat cheese. So many options its hard to pick! Free coffee refills. If you love waffles, worth the adventure.

Great waffles amazing atmosphere, very low key. Very affordable, staff was courteous and even got to meet the original owner of the house ( nice lady)!!!

The food and service were amazing, but as quaint as the building is, I wish they would remodel. Like most old buildings in Albuquerque the inside feels like it needs a deep clean, fresh paint, and new floors which really takes away from the experience. Thankfully, the food is excellent and the staff is nice that this is a minor gripe on my part. Hopefully they'll be successful enough to either move, or completely redo the inside!

A neat little local favorite, it's tucked away up near Albuquerque's popular nob hill area. Let me say this has become my new favorite breakfast spot! The atmosphere is warm and homey and the food is delicious! If you have the time and want to enjoy an amazing waffle, pop in and try them out! Be careful though, they close at 2pm!

This place is the place to go if you love waffles. They have some creative options and you can make your own. The cafe mocha was my favorite when I was drinking caffeine. The waffle benitos is my favorite waffle. I get it every time I go. Everything is made from scratch. With that being said make sure you have time when you go on the weekends since they get busy because it is quality.

    (5)
  • Leslie A.

This place is amazing, I had the benitos waffles which has two basted eggs on top with green chile and ham I added avocado and it was delicious! They warned us that there would be a wait because it was a busy Saturday morning and they had a long line... which we were ok with and was totally worth it! I will definitely come back.

  • Michael P.

I had the sweet waffle with goat milk caramel, green apple and sea salt. The caramel was delicious, I just wish there was a little more of it. The waffle was good also. The service was a little slow and my friend and I had to wait a while to order and to get our food so probably not the place to go if you are in a hurry. My friend had the waffles ranchero, like huevos rancheros but with a blue corn waffle. He seemed happy with it and it looked like a filling meal.

  • Amanda S.

Amazing waffles... period. Upon multiple return trips, we have always had delicious food. The amount of food for the money is a bargain. I know people complain about the format, but it is the way the way the place functions. Honestly, it is probably the most efficient as well. Come for the waffles not for the wait, but the wait is worth it.

    (5)
  • Greg S.

Creative menu, good food, and good coffee. However, if there is a line, consider going somewhere else - it will be at least 90-minutes before you get your food. I had the Waffle Benitos and really enjoyed it, but I cannot justify the long wait. If you go, make sure you have two-hours of free time and a lot of patience...

Just passing through and saw that this place is fairly new. The food and service were top notch!! Very friendly atmosphere. Definitely try the bacon & eggs waffle with the bacon inside the waffle! The wait may be a little long, but it's worth it. Go early because it gets a little hot inside too. Can't wait to see how popular this place is going to get. :)

Great waffles! the Bacon and eggs waffle with the bacon IN the batter, and over easy eggs on top was killer, and my friend had the Gluten Free Blue Corn waffle...it was crunchy and delicious! the Service was great, and I love the ice tea and coffee refill station. Will definitely be going back!

Went on a Sunday around 11, which was a little crazy. The food was amazing however! I had the Blue Lavender, which was delightful and refined. The gluten free options for waffles were great to see. And their mixes on sale were really great prices. There is a lot of food for the price as well. Will be there again.

The place has charm, but charm only goes so far when you're talking about a restaurant. Bottom line is waiting 45 minutes for food is not acceptable. My girlfriend and I had to spend an hour and a half here just to eat a meal. 30 minutes in line, another 45 to get the food and when we finally got the food... Well, for the price, wait and inconvenience with seating this place is not worth it. Go to Le Peep for a good breakfast with good service for a good price.

  • Cristen C.

If your response to a waffle only restaurant is meh, you need to rethink. An amazing range of toppings and waffle bases are available with the flavors you would have never thought of before. My personal favorites are the savory choices. IMHO the wait time is worth it for the wonderful food. But you DO need to plan for a 40 minute wait AFTER you get through the line. (I've had it take less, too.)There's a dog-friendly patio. Bring the newspaper, or your knitting, or your electronic device, and wait for a marvelous taste experience!

Great food and an even better service. This home to restaurant makes you feel like you're having a twist on a classic breakfast in bed minus the bed. The blue corn waffle is a must if you're a true New Mexican. The Rancheros waffle (Christmas, of course) is an interesting twist on the homestead classic and for desert the Azteca is a must. Definitely worthy of your Sunday morning hangover cure or even a Wednesday lunch break.

I didn't even get a chance to eat here. The moment our party of 7 walked in Brittany gave us some serious attitude. We weren't briefed on how to sit or order but we were lectured to keep the door shut even though a mother with 2 kids left it open. When I got to the counter the other owners were very nice while I complained about her and offered to comp me a meal but it was my birthday and first year anniversary so I didn't want to deal with eating Brits spit. I will try again with a smaller party and I hope I won't get Brittany.

I can make better waffles in 10 minutes - and get to stay in my pajamas at home. I had the buttermilk waffle and a side of eggs and sausage. Mine was delicious but expensive! My boyfriend had the blue corn, which was gross and dry. Positives were the food and dog-friendly, pretty patio. Negatives were LONG WAIT both to order and get your food. They really need to make this a sit down restaurant. I spent most of my breakfast alone - waiting in line to order and running back and forth to refill our coffees and waters. Also, flies on the patio were annoying. We probably won't be back until they get things running more smoothly. 30 minutes in line, plus 45 to get our food, and then we still had to get up for refills. We wasted half of our day having breakfast since it took so long. You can spend $50 on an awesome Belgian waffle maker and do better at home.

Quite tasty!!! Two out of three of us voted 4 stars. My husband voted 3 mainly for the pesky flies and limited tea choices--Earl Grey is NOT a substitute for english Breakfast. We enjoyed the flavorful choices and are already planning our next. My husband had The Azteca waffle: 4 waffle squares with dark chocolate and cinnamon. The whipped was dulce de leche w/red chile. The flavors were even-not too spicy or sweet. The rye flour waffle was more dense, but it did not settle like a lead weight in the belly. The blackberry/blueberry compote was sweet enough where the whipped was not needed. Both plates were the right temp and nice-looking. Finally--the service was friendly. The food server was a good multi-tasker and the lady at the counter gave us some specific, accurate choices.

For those of you who are gluten free and or vegan, you know how hard it is to find food that tastes good. Well this place is great! It tasted like a waffle should without the pain and suffering of a traditional waffle! Great selection of add-ins and toppings, and generous portions. Service with a smile, and only a short wait for our food. Can't wait to go back!

  • Linda B.

Unexpected delight. Had the Ranchero Waffle (blue corn waffle topped with an egg cooked to order and red or green chili), I took the option to add Carne Adovada to it for a perfect New Mexico taste. Surprisingly good, and enough for two in my opinion. The place is smallish, but quaint with a fireplace adding to the ambience. On warmer days, there is also an outside deck with tables. Got 4 stars because service is a bit slow. They have guests form a single line to order and, when busy, that is really inefficient (should have added a second order taker). But, will definitely return.

  • Tess W.

I've been here 4 or 5 times and always had great experiences. The cashier, Allison, is always super friendly and upbeat, even on weekends when, inevitably, there are assholes yelling at her about the wait. Tip: If you don't want to wait, don't go on the weekend. OR call in and order ahead, which they recommend. On weekdays they get your order to you pretty quickly. Anyways, the waffles are always excellent (I'm partial to the port-soaked cherry and goat cheese) and the homemade apple cider is too! Also, bottomless coffee! YES.

I just left this place 15 min ago. My boyfriend and I were eager to try their waffles per reviews. However, when we first walked in we got an eery feeling. The blonde host behind the counter NEVER greeted us, even as we walked up to the counter. I had to ask her how was she this morning. The first rule in customer service is to greet your guests. Your guests shouldn't have to greet you. Ultimately, we walked right out. I would never eat anywhere where I feel uninvited. I don't know if this is how business is done here on the usual, but I will tell everyone NOT to eat here. Obviously this place allows their employees not to value every guest. This was the worst experience I've had at a restaurant in New Mexico and I didn't even get to eat. I truly hope the blonde and her management sees this review. I don't know if I should feel discriminated against or write it off as the chick having a bad day. If it's that, learn how to leave your drama at the door before you go into work.

I really enjoyed this place. I will concur that more seating or a bigger location is desirable, as this place is packed and it can be hard to move. I had the goat cheese and cherry waffle, and my friend has the lavender waffles. Both types were amazing and large enough to fill you up. It took a little longer to get the waffles, again because there was a long line in front of us, but it was worth the wait. It's in a great location for the college crowd. Overall, it's a quaint little breakfast place great with an excellent selection of waffle concoctions.

  • Tim S.

Great waffles with interesting combinations I haven't seen anywhere else. Reasonably priced considering the amount of food you get. Yes, there is a line. Yes, you do have to order at a counter. That's the format of the restaurant and the line out the door all weekend long is a good indicator of how well this place works.

Good waffles. Bad service. Staff is pretty rude to everyone who walks in the door for some reason. Good coffee.

Getting busy for a Sunday morning... They were having trouble with the cash register so the wait was a little bit of a drag. Sister branch of Tia Betty blues, ordered the blue corn rancheros... Coffee is self serv & water too. Cute restaurant setup.. Staff was nice.

    (4)
  • Kerry W.

Love the waffles but surprised that on the weekends they don't up their staffing. If they hired a barrista to work along side the cashier the line would move much faster. Another thing I noticed was that the poor wait staff had to try to maneuver between the wait line folks. They would have full orders and had to repeatedly ask the line to move aside, etc. Why not put in a divider so ordering patrons would be on the right and the staff at a freeway to transport food, etc. on the left?

    (4)
  • Chris G.

They've worked out the kinks since some of the other reviews were written, because service was great; fast, friendly, helpful! And the waffles were fabulous-crispy outside, soft inside, amazing flavor! We all left happy!

Great concept. Interesting waffle combinations. Kinda of expensive $7 for a plain waffle. Second time I went, I ordered a second waffle which was very undercooked (on a Tuesday with very few customers). Really anyone that cooks waffles on a regular basis can easily tell when they have undercooked a waffle. The nice girl at the counter gave me a gift certificate and apologized. Good service. Like its sister restaurant, needs consistency and better decor. When that improves, I will be a repeat customer. For the waffles rancheros, I'd suggest they only give you half the waffle, the whole waffle is too much for that particular batter (like eating a pan of cornbread). Great chile. Great toppings. Nice people.

A big fan of Tia Betty Blues, I couldn't wait to try La Waffleria in Nob Hill. What an experience it was -- and not a good one! I chose three stars because I'm sure the waffle would have been delicious had I had a chance to eat it fresh. After an hour and a half wait on Sunday, August 10, I had to get it to go because I had to go to work. The waitress at the counter was visibly flustered and not friendly at all. This is understandable considering many customers were becoming annoyed at the long wait, lack of coffee and general disorganization of the restaurant. What would made the experience more pleasant, and calmed the agitated crowd, would have been a friendly demeanor and understanding attitude rather than a surly response that "we only have 3 waffle irons". Seems that if you're going to be in the restaurant business, you should be prepared for people to come to your restaurant. A simple "sorry for the long wait, enjoy a free coffee next time you come" would have gone a long way. Hope they get their act together because no matter how delicious their food is, the ambiance and vibe are part of the experience.

Don't waste your time with this place! We heard this place was great, could have been more far from the truth! Waited 45 minutes in line to order, then the lady up front told us an hour wait to get food. I responded "wow that's bad for business" she said "don't worry my business is doing fine" and crumbled up and threw the order form away without giving is a chance to order. These people can not get away with treating customers like this. So don't go!

Tia B's Waffleria is probably my favorite place for a New Mexican-style breakfast or lunch in Albuquerque, especially when feeding out of town guests. The chiles are great and the waffles are excellent. The sweet ones are delicious, but IMO, the savory waffles are the real masterpieces. The food is much fresher and livelier than in a lot of NM-style places in town.

Okay, I really really wanted to like this place. I had read reviews about how long the wait is and saw the sign as we walked in noting that it was 40 minutes. So I was prepared. My kids were prepared. But , it is a small place and it seems like EVERYONE else in the place gets their food before you do when you wait for over an hour. The selections were interesting and different flavors which is good, and they tasted fine. The eggs and bacon we ordered on the side came about 10 minutes after the waffles! With a wait that ended up over an hour I expected to be blown away. I can't say that I was. My daughter got plain waffles, which were burnt on one side and came upside down so maybe we wouldn't notice? My kids were super patient, but obviously hungry. The waitress suggested that since I had kids, I should come on the weekday so they wouldnt have to wait as long. Um, they have school on the weekdays. Maybe when they get more waffle irons - Until then the waffles I make at home win. But we enjoyed the adventure!

It would have been five stars, but it took two trips to Tia B's La Waffleria to taste their food. Being a big fan of Tia Betty's I knew I'd like their new cafe. I didn't count on waiting over an hour and half on our first trip. Wait staff was frazzled and completely unapologetic about the wait time. We had to leave without trying the food. I found another friend and braved a second visit, this time on a Saturday and earlier, 8:15 am. This time we had a whole other experience. No one in line, food came out quickly and was delicious at a good price. Wait staff was friendly and relaxed. Being a popular waffle house with only two waffle irons creates some serious problems, but the wait staff said more waffle irons are on the way. The menu is really varied, lots of choices and I'm looking forward to a third visit to try the Azteca waffle, piled high with whip cream and cinnamon. The Bacon and egg waffle and blueberry waffle were both good. I'm glad I gave this spot a second try and hope others will too. If you got stuck on a busy Sunday waiting for your breakfast, give Saturday morning a try and hopefully you'll have a completely different experience. This is a cafe that locals seem to love and hoping they will be around for a good long while. We all eagerly await the additional waffle irons!
