I'm not sure what happened here over the past few months this establishment has really gone down hill. The past few times we have went the food has been warm, the serving sizes/menu items have changed, the service has been slow and not unfriendly but just not as good as it use to be. For example we were not offered refills at the table the past three times we ate here. Standing in line for a refill is a hassle. It's a shame we still like some of the food items here but do not go out of our way to come here anymore.

Texas chain who's outpost here is in the ABQ uptown shopping center. I wanted to know what all the crowds were here for when it opened. Its a deli right? Well more of a deli on steroids in that in addition to serving mediocre sandwiches, they feature huge nachos, stuffed baked potatoes, and pizzas- essentially anything a bland palate would like. Went here 3x ordering different things during shopping to see if the other visits were an aberration. Nope- just poor quality food. Maybe I am in the minority, because others dining here looked like they were enjoying their food. Interesting too from a subliminal standpoint in that they have 2 hd tv screens and rather than air the latest sporting event they show a slideshow/montage of their diners enjoying different items that say" Look a me quashing down this icetea " or " I am enjoying these oversized nachos" There are three sandwich shops that serve much higher quality meats, breads, and sides within a 5 minute drive. I would consider if you have the deli itch to try them out: Relish Baggins Cheese and Coffee

McAlister's is located within the ABQ mall. It was perfect for me as I was looking for something within walking distance of my hotel. The food was tasty-- it's your typical selection of soups, salads, and sandwiches. And the prices are typical; not overly expensive nor insanely cheap. The service is friendly but slow. Seating is plentiful!!! There is lots of indoor seating and some outdoor on their patio. Great place to grab a quick sandwich and comforting soup.

My husband and I use to love going to eat at McAlister's but the service is always inconsistent. We started to order online but the portions kept getting smaller and smaller. Now the salad looks like it was frozen so the spring mix is wilted. The last time I had a French dip sandwich there was a small portion of beef. Certainly not what it looks like in their pictures and that was in the restaurant. Time to start going somewhere else to eat. I will be spending my time and money elsewhere. Thanks, Carmen Chico

Stopped here while driving through town for a quick bite to eat. Service was very friendly, but the food was awful. Had the steak sandwich with au jus and new chicken panini. Hardly any ingredients on sandwiches, they both tasted the same and tasted like dough. The mashed potatoes were like glue. We thought it would be like a Paradise Bakery or Jason's Deli, no where close to that. Go to the Jason's Deli across the street we saw AFTER we ate there.

Luv the unsweetened iced tea. Sandwiches galore. Tried the artichoke & spinach dip, yum. Mom likes the chicken dumpling soup. Enjoy wireless while I wait.

A regular deli--nothing special, nothing too bad in my experiences. Serves it purpose of getting lunch food though: 1) Like previous yelpers mentioned, you wait FOREVER for your damn food. OMG, its sandwiches and salads...and by the time you get it, it looks and tastes like something that could have be done in 5 min instead. 2) Crowded--not sure why, prob convenience of location, so even though there seems like a lot of places to sit, we had to scramble to get a table outside that wasn't even bussed after 10 min- gross. 3) Got the smoked pepper jack panini--yes, not hot at all. I was wishing I went to Starbucks instead and got their crappy sandwiches, cuz it would be at least warm. Over it fast---after a few more chances here, I usually end up heading to Trader Joe's up the way and getting a salad and fruit there. More worth your buck.

Blech! I've been here a few times and I think the only reason I come back is because I forget how crappy this place it. The sandwiches are over priced, the service is super slow, and their "famous" ice tea is mediocre. My sandwich today had metal flakes on it. Not sure how the multiple pieces of foil (up to 1/2 inch long and very visible) became embedded into my sandwich, but I certainly didn't want to eat the damn thing after the discovery. What else could they be leaving in my food. Never again. I would welcome the closure of this crap hole.

Their sandwiches are de-freaking-licious. Try the mac and cheese as the side. Soups are good too. Potatoes are rather large and filling. All the tea and sodas have free refills and come in about half-gallon size cups. They bring the food to you, they bus the table. Usually a manager will come by and see how everything is going also. I'm really just rambling at this point. Never have had a bad experience. Afterwards pop over to Starbucks or do some shopping. The mall is across the street as well.

Great location and great food. You can have a good meal (lunch or dinner) and then follow it up with a walk around this outdoor shopping mall with good stores and good food.

We went for a late lunch - around 2PM. I ordered the McAlister's Club with potato salad. I would expect a stellar sandwich that would be far superior to anything I could make at home - not so. The bread was refrigerated-like. I took out the middle layer. The potato salad was exactly like what you would get at the Walmart Deli. My friend got a beef sandwhich which she liked but her mac and cheese was very similar to what you'd get at one of those chain buffet places. We got chips and queso too - pretty good! The queso is made with Rotel and we dumped in a bunch of extra jalapenos. If we go here again, I'll try a potato. We'll probably just go across the street to Jason's Deli.

I do really enjoy the food here. It's simple but good. My biggest complaint is they don't know how to serve HOT food. I order sandwiches that are meant to be hot but when they come to the table the food is lukewarm. I've even requested to have my food to be hot and they still didn't serve it hot. Order something you don't mind being cold/warm and you'll be fine.

Wow, does this place suck! After ordering at the counter we waited 20 minutes (not exaggerating) for two sandwiches. The meat was that glassy, plastic-looking stuff that you find in supermarkets. We had corned beef/pastrami combos and it was impossible to distinguish between the two meats. My wife had passable potato salad as a side, I had the worst mashed potatoes and gravy I've ever had. It made KFC's taste like freshly peeled and mashed potatoes. I've had better mashed potatoes from a box. The best thing on the plate was the pickle spear. Their "famous" sweet tea was cloyingly sweet. Previously friends have brought home their signature club sandwich (which was equally bad) and watery, canned-tasting chicken soup. My friends swear by their muffalettas but I found them to have too much bread, not enough meat, and salty, canned, electric-green American olives. To call this place a "deli" is to call Long John Silver's a seafood restaurant. It fashions itself as a nice, sit down sandwich place but you can get better at Subway or Quiznos. Save your money and buy a pack of Oscar Mayer meat and a loaf of bread.

I had the Basil Parmesan Chicken Salad, which was overall fine except the cherry tomatoes topping it were in that shriveled-up, used-up, throw-me-away state, so that was a let down. The drinks are ginormous - excellent fill-it-up for the afternoon, and service was very friendly. A fine place for a cheap meal, but I would probably order something else (something without tomatoes)- the baked potatoes looked good.

Nice atmosphere, clean, friendly and good food!!! I would like to see homemade chips on the menu as a side tho. And the bathroom sinks have tiny little faucets (small complaint. lol).

I met a friend at McAlister's for lunch and the place was hopping. Getting there early to avoid a long wait is recommended. This is a casual dining place so wait in line, order from the counter, and a staff member brings you the food to the table. The prices are very reasonable and the staff is very friendly and helpful with the menu. Legit Sweet Tea is on the menu and seems to be a big draw for southern transplants to ABQ. Being a yankee I chose the regular tea and was pleased that it comes in a gigantic bucket and the staff with refill you to go. My friend and I both sampled the salads. I had the garden salad with a scoop of chicken salad. I mean, what can you say about a salad? It was good, fresh, generous portion. I would order the salad again no problem. I do want to try the sandwiches and soups; as the weather cools I'll be back to try them. My only 'small' pet peeve is uncomfortable dining chairs and loud dining room. The chairs aren't so comfortable if you're enjoying a longer lunch and the dining room is very loud with the ordering line going right through the middle. Fast casual dining is super cool, but this isn't a good place for a meeting with friends, or date. You won't be able to hear much when the restaurant is full. Eat quick and get out for a fast week day lunch and this place is perfect! You can also call in an order ahead and use a 'fast' line.

I had the chicken tortilla soup and a salad ("Pick two") with the sherry shallot dressing on the side. I also had an iced tea. The food was pretty good, service was fine. The place was packed, but it was a holiday weekend, so I was expecting that. We had a new cashier who had a hard time taking our order, but she was new. I have patience for that. Three stars because the food was pretty unremarkable. Not bad at all, but just...fine. Would I go back? You know, I'm not a big fan of these big chain restaurants. They tend to have predictable, fine food. However, in general, there's nothing special about them. They aren't unique. I'm sure there are many other chains just like McAlister's (Potbelly, for example; perhaps even Panera to an extent). If I'm starving and shopping at Uptown, I'd consider eating there again. Or, if a friend suggests it (as was the case), then okay.

This place had been a hit or miss, but in my last four visits we have had such great experiences!! Their Pecan Berry salad is absolutely the most favorite salad in my whole life!! I also really like their Turkey Hot Brown with wheat bread! It's pretty much incredible and tasty! Their nacho basket is a great app! A lot of their sandwiches are loaded with meat and their potatoes are pretty good too! I think my true love for this place developed with their iced tea! I love their sweet tea, their plain tea, their peach tea, and their wild berry tea!!! There are so many choices it hard to pick your flavor!! I also liked their watermelon tea, but they sadly discontinued it. Over all, this is a great place! It has reasonable prices and the staff has really stepped up and has become more friendly and helpful! Also their kids meals are incredibly priced! You can eat there without breaking the bank! I love it!

One if the things you can be sure if here is that it will be consistent. Service and food will be the same every time
