Let's preface this by saying I don't think I've ever had steak fingers. I really needed to go to Mac's. It's been on my bucket list for years. I finally took the plunge and went. I got the original rough dinner with green chile gravy instead of original, along with onion rings instead of fries...sans drink. The onion rings were really good. You can tell the batter is homemade. That being said...don't go here expecting to get your meal as fast as sonic or one of the other, pre-made fast food restaurants. You'll probably wait 10 minutes or so while they make everything fresh! The coleslaw and roll were good, and I loved that they put a green onion in to top it off. I love green onions! I wasn't a huge fan of the gravy. I found myself adding salt and pepper. Now onto the steak fingers...what a conundrum. I've learned that I'm not a fan of steak fingers. The steak was good...the batter was good...but together, meh. There's just something about fried steak that is a bit off-putting to me. I can't believe I'm saying this...but some things are better left un-fried. I think steak belongs on the grill. That being said, I'm not docking any stars for my distaste of steak fingers. The whole meal was well executed and fresh. Next time I go, I will be having the chicken tenders.

Hahaha, what can I say, I let my inner fat kid out at this joint! Fried, battered beef strips and onion rings, gravy and to top it off a full sprig of green onion scallion! Come prepared to hate yourself when you leave, each meal has to be at least 1,500 calories but it's soooo damn good!

We have missed Macs and are so glad to be back in the ABQ - this was one of the first places we came. Same yummy steak fingers, we can eat in our car, friendly service and gigantic drinks! What more could I ask for?!

A friend of mine recommended this place, so I decided to give it a try. The food was gross! I had the chicken tender platter and I was really disappointed. The rolls looked good from afar as they were nice and buttery on top, but we're actually very stale. I will not be going back.

Mac's is just one of those local places you gotta hit from time to time. It would be like living here and never going to the Frontier, almost a man crime IMO. If I were to ask them what their signature item was they'd probably tell me everything was their signature item. It is my opinion no one beats their onion rings. I mean they are batter dipped and fried to order, I had the pleasure of a side this afternoon and all I can say is thank you! I sure wish they would have added credit card terminals kinda like Sonic has. If you're in the area and feeling hungry do yourself a favor and stop in!

Me and my husband love this place! I usually order a rough dinner with a side of salsa to dip the steak fingers in. (You have the option to order salsa or white gravy) Their taquitas are also very good. Wish they had other locations.

Oh how I miss this place since moving to Florida. The food is something I haven't found anywhere else.

I love the steak fingers so much that I usually order a double rough. I don't like eating by myself, but I will when it involves yummy food. Too bad we don't have one in Santa Fe.

Traveling from AZ to OH and needed somewhere quick to stop for lunch. Tacos and bean, cheese, green chili burrito were very good. Grilled cheese was good but small portion. Very inexpensive. Great deal for the price. Service was fast and the restaurant is clean. Overall good fast food experience at Mac's.

50s music sets the diner/drive in atmosphere. Clean restaurant, friendly staff. The taquitas were a bit plain and the guacamole, while fresh, was a bit bland for my taste. But it's cheap and good comfort food!

Why there are not more of these places around ABQ, I have no idea! My first time there I tried the steak finger combo, which comes with fries, coleslaw, a biscuit and a drink. I am not a steak fan because beef is just tough to me, but these steak fingers were a pleasantly tender surprise. It was a little pricey for a drive in. The restaurant was packed (sign of good eats) but there was no one keeping the tables clean in the dining area. They took a long time to get my order out but everything was hot and fresh so timeliness is forgiven. Overall, very good experience. Skip the dining room and hit the drive up or drive thru instead.

The decor is great (it is a bit loud in the restaurant portion), but the food was really sub par. It was over done and tough, and the french fries were sub par. I could of gone during a bad time, but both my date and I didn't feel well after eating here, and I most likely won't be going back.

It's better than I remember. It was tough, now it's tender. Extra scallion, please. Onion rings. :)

The food is good, but the service is horrible. They closed at 8pm last night, yet stopped taking call-in orders an entire HOUR before closing. Since we had to go in person to place the order, you'd think they'd get it right? Nope! They gave us the wrong order and had to make ours up correctly which took FOREVER! I'm glad we only go there once in a blue moon, because I have no patience for such inconveniences. I can see now why all the other ones went out of business!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
