I was in Albuquerque to visit family, and they recommended Little Anita's for brunch. I am SO glad they did! Little Anita's staff was super accommodating as our table of 5 jumped to 8 and then to 13, as it often does with family gatherings. But the service is kind of confusing because there are 4 different people that help you throughout the meal. There's a different person to get water, another for drinks, another for the order, another to bring out food, etc... I guess it's not the worst complaint I've ever had - just odd. Everyone highly recommended the Huevos Rancheros, but I had the pancake sandwich san bacon, plus hashbrowns, with my eggs over easy. My eggs weren't cooked perfect, but everything was still super tasty. It's worth noting that their coffee is the best I've ever had at a Mexican Restaurant! I would say it's definitely worth the trip - in fact we went twice over our short stay in Albuquerque!

Just OK. Went with all the family on. Wednesday. Chicken quesadilla, beef taco, vegetable enchilada, chili. Service was OK. No alcohol!!!!! What sort of mexican place doesn't have margarita's? There is better places in Albuquerque.

By far my favorite food in Albuquerque. I live in Cali now and miss Little Anita's food so much. Everytime I go home to visit I have to get my daily shredded beef & bean burrito w/green chile and a sopapilla. This is the best food on earth.

Pretty good New Mexican fare. The best sopapillas I've had anywhere in the city. Nice ambiance -- nothing too wild, but pleasant. Interesting lunch specials. I like this place! :)

Meh...Oh, Little Anita's. Has your food gotten worse or have I just experienced way better food elsewhere now so I can tell the difference? Breakfast the other day was very disappointing. They describe the Huevos Rancheros on the menu to be a green chile chicken enchilada with eggs on top, served with beans, and hash browns--which sets it pretty far apart from the other huevos around. However, upon it's arrival at my table, to my dismay, it was just corn tortillas--no enchiladas to be found. I guess that's a good thing in a way--my waistline thanks me. BUT, they charge a whole lot for the huevos and the menu has a completely different description on it than what you actually receive. I am NOT a fan of that! I will definitely choose somewhere else when I am craving cheesy, chile goodness next time.

We love our weekly meal at the Little Anita's on Alameda and Corrales Road. The staff is helpful and courteous and the red chile is absolutely perfect.

Food was good, salsa was hot, service was quick and the atmosphere was inviting! This location is my new favorite Little Anita's. Be aware though, you have to ask for the green chile for the carnitas tacos even though it says it comes with it on the menu.

Stopped in a few days ago for late breakfast. Ordered the enchilada breakfast skillet. Eggs were cooked to perfection! Great service and great food.

Went in at about 4pm on a Monday and was immediately seated. Drinks and order were very prompt. No chips & salsa (looks like you have to ask for them) but I barely had time to notice because my meal was brought out in less than 3 minutes. I had the Carne Adovada burrito with red and was really pleased. Sauce was overflowing (!) and the flavors were excellent. Beans were good, rice was okay. Overall, a good experience!

Hubby and I have eaten here several times recently, and it has jumped to the top of our list for Mexican/New Mexican food. I wish I could say the same for the service, but more on that later. Every time we walk in, the host/server lets us choose our own table, immediately brings chips and salsa, and takes our drink and dinner orders. We can usually count on NOT being able to finish the chips before dinner arrives--they are definitely quick in their kitchen. I've not had any occasion to complain about the food, except the tamales. It seems that there are a lot of tamale makers around who like to make the things with a 1/2" layer of masa and about 1/2" or less of filling. Tamales, to me, should be mostly filling and less masa--just enough masa to hold the filling together! I told our waiter one time that the tamales were too heavy with masa---I haven't tried them again to see if my opinion mattered. The sopapillas are always hot when we get them (they are obviously prepared fresh for each patron or party); the beans are the best I have tasted recently; the chicken burrito is TO. DIE. FOR. My only gripe is that the salsa seems to be prepared to suit the palate of someone with an asbestos tongue. I really really wish that restaurateurs wouldn't try to burn the taste buds off our tongues with their fiery hot salsas and chiles--the taste of the food is more important than the hotness. As far as the service is concerned, all of the male servers in the place are just dandy--quick to come back to ask about the food and see if there is anything we need--take dirty dishes away promptly--bring "go" cups when asked. Unfortunately, they have a young lady at this location who doesn't seem to want to do her job. I waited nearly 10 minutes one day for a "go" cup and, finally, had to go to the cashier's desk and get a cup from the man who waited on us. She moves like she is about 83 years old--and she can't be more than 25, at the most. The prices here are about half-a-dollar less than the same items at the Menaul location--I don't know why and I don't care. For the difference in the quality of the food and the distance from my house, I'll stick with this location. They are even better than the quickie place in Rio Rancho which is housed in a former Sonic. I'll be back. My main gripe is that the place seems somewhat dated, although I do love the chairs.

I went to this place on a regular basis when I lived in New Mexico, and hit it whenever I go back. It's great for breakfast, and the green chili is amazing. The price is moderate, and it can get busy on weekend mornings, but if you go early on the weekend or during the week, you shouldn't have any kind of wait. I've gone there so often that I'm struggling to remember a time when the service was bad, so that is to say that they get the job done in a very consistent way. Try the Huevos Rancheros or green chili stew.

So Little Anitas is family owned and operated and let me just say I guess they think it gives them the right to be unprofessional and down right rude. At this particular location the wait staff are so ghetto for lack of a better term. The female wait staff is ALWAYS dress inappropriate and are completely rude and disrespectful. We are native New Mexican and treat our grandparents with respect. I had a female waitress raise her voice to my Grandmother. We were given dirty utensils and when I asked for clean ones she threw them on the table. On Top of having to look at her thong underwear and breast hanging out of her shirt she was so busy flirting with male customers she screwed up our order which they did not comp. the rest of the staff were too busy talking about how drunk they got the night before they didn't bother refilling our water or coffee. When we got our compete order the beans were cold and tastes like feet. This location is filthy and old, they seem more concerned with stealing your money with crappy food then maintain a nice atmosphere. The bathrooms......lets just say your better off using the Parking lot. They all used filthy language IN FRONT of my grandparents and kids. Please DO NOT waste your time or money. Go to Guardunios or El Pinto ...... They are higher end New Mexican Food and professional staff dressed properly for serving your family. The Correlas Little Anita's location has become a disgrace to New Mexican cuisine and is more of a truck stop. I have yet to try the other locations based off of such horrendous experiences at this location.

We do not go to lil anitas any more they have fallen off. The service consists of a bunch of kids too busy talking about how drunk they got last night. Plus we have been turned away at the door because they dont seat anyone during their last HOUR. Whatever dont take my money or change your hours of operation. Dont bother with this place

The prices here are not bad at all. It's a pretty typical New Mexican restaurant, but cheaper than Sadie's or Garduño's or El Pinto. The green chile sauce they use is delicious, so I have to recommend eating the breakfast burrito there. In the morning, they have breakfast specials which are quite a deal. Also, on weekdays, breakfast burritos are buy one get one free (not including extras like chorizo or bacon, but $5 after tax for two of their burritos including all the extras is a good deal). There are a lot of different places around town that you can stop buy, so if you're looking to have some good New Mexican food that isn't too pricey, or you are a breakfast burrito addict like me, you'll find this place to be delicious. Personally, it's my favorite breakfast burrito in town, I'd like to add.

I remember when this place was actually "little!" Now they are popping up everywhere and rightfully so. Good red chile, arguably some of the best in the city. The Ranchero Skillet is my old reliable with papitas instead of hash browns - red and green chile, with chorizo. If you have never been to Little Anita's or Albuquerque for that matter, none of that made a lick of sense, but if you go, trust me and order it. I just wish I could hear you try to pronounce it. This location has a take-out side which is convenient if you are ordering a burrito on the run. Otherwise, wait times can be lengthy on weekends. Go during the week when it is more low-key. The service here was AWFUL for the longest time... Truly bottom of the barrel, but enough people must have complained because it seems to be getting a little better. Imagine this: we got there once at 12:00, waited 40 minutes for a table, another 10 minutes for our server and then tried to order breakfast but were told they don't serve breakfast after 1. (You can do the math, it was 12:50 and we were told their computers clock is 10 minutes fast... WTF?!?) As I mentioned, though, service seems to be getting better. Their old town location is historic and has a little bar so margarita's are an option. Big plus. Consistently good, but if you have a choice, go to Monroe's instead.

During my brief stop in Albuquerque on my way to Lawrence, KS from the San Fernando Valley in CA, my father and I ate here at Little Anita's. Salivating, we were seated, and treated to some of the best [New] Mexican food I've ever had. Although I'm not a vegetarian, I often order veg dishes to cut my calories down. The vegetarian enchiladas here were so incredible, I had to stop and savor my first bite, chewing slowly and blissfully. The rice and beans were decent, but honestly, I am not a big fan of just "rice and beans"-- they must be hard to get right because they rarely wow me. The sopapillas were incredible! I'd never had them before, but they were so light and fluffy, I wish I had more. Whenever I go through Alb again, I'll be sure to stop at Little Anita's for memories' sake.

We visited on s Saturday evening, while in town visiting family. It wasn't crowded, but there was only one waiter for all eight seated tables in the restaurant. The waiter was amazing, always on his toes and keeping everyone happy. Our waits were just slightly longer than normal, understandable since there was just one waiter. I'm going to admit up front that I don't do anything spicy or hot - not my thing. However, my dining mates claim that the salsa here is amazing and you definitely have to try it. I tried one small bite, and had to spend the rest of dinner drinking water. I had the Chicken Enchiladas with red sauce on the side, as did my sister. We both thought it was pretty good, but nothing to write home about. Not much different than the TexMex at home. I gave my red sauce to my other sister and her husband, who had asked for double green sauce on their shared Combo #2. They gladly poured the red sauce over everything, then proceeded to devour the whole plate. (Sometimes I wonder if we're really related... this girl can eat jalapenos whole and not bat an eye...) The best part was at the end, sopapillas! Warm and soft and delicious, they were a treat worth coming back for.

OMG what a morning!! Had to endure an 80's metal hair chick tailgating & ALMOST rear-ended us on our way to the restaurant, anyway.. after we arrived to Little Anita's we ordered the Breakfast Burrito Grande and the Huevos Rancheros plus chips 'n salsa. It was going well until half way thru the burrito grande, there was a weird looking stringy thing hanging out of it..pulled on it and it was a long, thin plastic strip! Got the waiter to take a look & he returned the plate for the kitchen to see. Waiter was nice enough & handled the problem great. So he returned with a fresh order. In the meantime, snacking on chips 'n salsa, I feel something in my mouth which turned out to be gross reddish curly hair! (my hair is completely opposite, straight, long & black.) OMG that was very disgusting & we didnt bother telling our waiter, by then, just decided to get our bill, leave & NEVER return!! So our morning was totally messed up. The place actually deserves NO STARS but we're being generous.. Enjoy hairy, plastic foods if you want to eat here.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
