2 words "DON'T GO"...not sure when these photos were taken, but we seriously thought we were in the wrong place. I even rechecked the yelp reviews and photos when we got there and it is the place, but the menu is NOT what you see in the photo and the food is NOT as appetizing as it looks here. The food was disgusting, the wait staff was seriously racist - like they had never seen a person of color before and kept staring at us. We remained as polite and courteous as possible, even tipping her more than the customary amount, for fear that she'd stereotype us. We were all ill afterwards, vomited everything up within the hour. Shakes tasted like they were made with powdered milk. DON'T GO. Pics here are misleading. Menu is NOT what you see in these photos. Be forewarned.

Two words: Food poisoning. Another two words: Terrible service. The moral of this story? I will never go to Lindy's and you shouldn't, either.

1 star = Terrible. Multiple things went wrong. Never going back. 2 star = Not good. I will not go back, but it wasnt absolutely awful. 3 star = Good, not great. I wouldnt go out of my way, but I *would* go back. 4 star = Excellent food. I really liked it. I could be a regular here. 5 star = Phenomenal food. Something truly special here. Staying at the Hyatt, and there wasnt much open on Central on a Sunday, so I ended up at Lindy's. I got the app combo (onion rings, fried mushrooms and mozz sticks) and the chicken quesadillas. These were all from frozen -- the rings and shrooms were pretty good, but the mozz was just luke warm in the middle. The quesadillas were very good -- the green chile was a nice flavor, although the cheese wasnt high quality. The service was fine. Based on my 3 meals in ABQ so far, my conclusion is that in this area the food options arent super great. bRgR was head and shoulders above the other 2 places I have tried. All that said, I might give Lindy's breakfast a go tomorrow...

Disclaimer: I have only tried the New Mexican cuisine at Lindy's. Since they are a 1920s-style diner, I've been told their milkshakes and hamburgers are supposed to be good. Once I've tried these and other diner items, I will update this review and rating. -------- UPDATE: Recently I tried one of their famous milkshakes, and it was nothing less than awesome. Must try their hamburgers. ORIGINAL review: Lindy's is a fun place to dine, mainly because of the traditional 1920s diner feel to the place and because of the people who work and hang out there. The food is decent. However, if you're looking for fresh New Mexican and/or Mexican cuisine here, it doesn't exist. They serve New Mexican food at Lindy's, however, much of it comes pre-packaged. Lindy's buys their guacamole pre-made. They buy their chiles pre-cut. There's no one in the kitchen scooping out avocado pulp from its shell or navigating around all those avocado pits. There's no one in the kitchen wearing rubber gloves to prevent burning fingers from chopping up fresh chiles. Those two pre-packaged ingredients, alone, make for a disappointing dining experience. There's a reason why El Pinto Restaurant was named best restaurant to get guacamole. Their ingredients are fresh and they make it when a customer orders it. I really dislike giving a bad review, but this place has so much potential and history, plus it's conveniently located to us. I couldn't ignore this one.

Yelp needs a Meh 1/2 rating. First, let me say I wasn't expecting much. And that's what I got. So my expectations were met. The place does have a nostalgic feel of the 50's-60's diner. Red cushion booths, long diner counter and round stools. The place wasn't packed at lunch time, but it was occupied by customers. I felt like I was the kid in the joint as everyone was 10 to 20yrs older than me. And I'm not young either. The food was meh 1/2. I had the green chili cheese burger with fries. The fries were rank, dry and over cooked. The burger was no better than BK whopper. But the waitress was nice and probably a hottie back in the day. She made sure I had everything I needed. What was odd to me was the music in the background. I think of diners as playing 50's music... old classics. But when I heard Van Halen's JUMP and A-ha's TAKE ON ME, I realized I AM an old fart. These were hip when I was in my teens. Now they're considered oldies but goodies. Fuck. 20 years from now, Lady Gaga will be considered the oldies. FUCK.

Went here for breakfast this morning with The Hoff. The service was excellent; our waitress was friendly and chatty (probably due to the Hoff's irresistible charm). She kept our coffee mugs filled without being asked, but always asked before filling them - one of my pet peeves: people who fill your coffee cup without asking if they can first... I work hard to achieve that perfect blend of coffee, cream, and some cancer causing sugar substitute. Just adding coffee in mid cup ruins it. Anyway, I had the eggs and taters, which were pretty good. The potatoes are the shredded kind. Nothing to rave about, but good enough. The eggs were scrambled; no surprises there. The Hoff had some sort of biscuit and gravy concoction. He thought he should have received a side dish of gravy. Did he ask for one? No. Did I suggest he ask for one if he wanted one? Yes. :) Overall, nice place with cool 1920s decor.... food reasonable.

My second meal in Albuquerque, like my first, was disappointing. The hubby was looking for breakfast and I wanted a salad. Unfortunately, the big salads - all three of them - did not sound appetizing at all. So, I chose a grilled chicken sandwich and a dinner salad. The chicken was a little on the dry side and absolutely tasteless. It did come with cheese and bacon (which had an odd taste). The lettuce, tomato and onion was on the side. There was no dressing of any kind, which probably enhanced the dryness. The dinner salad was nothing special and the ranch dressing was obviously not homemade. The fries were okay. The hubby had eggs, sausage and hash browns. He said it was okay - a place you would only eat at if nothing else is open. On a positive note, the waitress was nice. She refilled our drinks without being reminded. Note: the menu says only one refill on soda and coffee. However, the hubby had three cups of coffee and was not charged extra. Honestly, there are too many choices in Albuquerque to waste your time and money on mediocre food.

My wife and I and some friends hit Lindy's late after barhopping a few weeks ago and man it really hit the spot. The quesadillas (with green chile of course) were fantastic. Is it named correctly here? It was a full featured restaurant, not just a coffee shop. Neat diner atmosphere for sure, definitely not the drab diner feel. Thanks to Ahmad and Pooneh for the tip!

Loved Lindy's. I didn't get to eat there but I did hang out for a cup of coffee. The place has a great feel and history to it. The food looked like fairly normal diner food, but I love diner food. I hope to be able to go back there for breakfast sometime but did enjoy having a cup of coffee and chatting with the waitress. I definitely recommend it. The rumor is that their milkshake is really good but I opted not to go with the morning milkshake this go round.

If you are waiting for a train in Albuquerque and dont see too much open at 9:00 am. Go here. Great breakfast burrito and charm.

Great spot for a local diner. Basic greasy spoon food: nothing great, but all decent enough. Service was prompt, friendly enough, and accurate. What else do you need from a diner?

We're sitting in lindys. We put in our order 40 minutes ago. I have no idea if the food is any good, but don't come if you have anything else to do for the rest of the day. We ordered breakfast. Breakfast food isn't that hard to prepare, and the joint isn't busy. What the hell lindy?

Fab greasy spoon dinner on Route 66! If U order any "Tex-Mex" dish, order "Christmas Style" ... Both their red and red chile salsa is exceptional. One exception - "Brian's Dick" ORDER IT STRAIGHT UP!

Out of towner. Great cute atmosphere. Had fun with our group, waitstaff was very understanding. "Brian's Dick" had an eclectic taste. Caused interesting conversation amongst friends. Would possibly have again. Three stars.

We were greeted at the door by a waft of the hot air which smelled something like expletive. No one said hello or anything they just kept on talking to each other. I ordered the chicken fried steak. My grandson had the waffles. The waffles were served with a heaping dollop of the worst margarine I've ever eaten. I asked them for real butter, they looked at me as if I was insane. This is not a real chicken fried steak. It's a ground chicken patty breaded and smothered in a reasonable-ish gravy. The hash browns were smothered in grease. The bacon was good! I promise family, I won't bring you here again.

I've read other reviews of this place, some good, some... Not so good. I'm not going to lie, I was very skeptical about this place but I was very, very pleasantly surprised. This was my first time here and I decided to eat here solely on my wife's memory that she thought it was a good place to eat when she was 13yrs old! So I said sure what the hell. Apparently this place has been around since the 1920's and its your typical diner establishment. Definitely has the look of a diner, which in my opinion is good and bad. I feel being 2015, the diner look needs an upgrade. It's kind of more dive, then diner but considering its location it fits. I ordered a Juicy Lucy- for those that don't know what a "Juicy Lucy" is, it's a burger with cheese stuffed in the middle instead of on top of the burger. I ordered it with green chile and bacon. My wife had a green chile burger. It is my opinion and my opinion alone but I've always said the best burger is the one closes to home and well folks you can't get any closer to home. Their Juicy Lucy is the best burger in ABQ- bold statement I know but true! Now my issue is the green chile had no kick what so ever and that's a travesty but not a deal breaker only because the burger is great. I would suggest to the owners to use Medium chile and run from mild, run fast. Enjoy folks!

Thank god for Mark! He is the kindest, most patient server I've ever encountered. I'm so grateful for his patience and kindness when taking orders and taking care of us post-effex. He brought me extra cucumbers and hummus (a gluten intolerant, drunken dream).

To me it reminds me of what a coffee shop would be like in its inception. A family owned and runned. They are very friendly and helpful. The food is good and filling. Love the onion rings

Lindys gets better and better! Many of their classic foods have been added back to the menu which is now full of great options. For all of you out there who whine about parking Downtown..........stop that and just find a place to park to enjoy Downtown's MANY eateries. Last night I ordered a chicken quesadilla and not only was it huge but FULL of chicken and goodies. I've noticed more patrons each time I go. Don't just hang out at chain restaurants in strip centers.........COME DOWNTOWN!

I recently took a late night date here while visiting downtown Albuquerque. The prices are as close to great for a sit down menu restaurant you'll find within 10 miles in any direction. The walls have pictures of celebrities that stumbled into the establishment and took pictures with the staff. I like the pretty neon atmosphere in the evening hours. I have old reasons to give this place a hard time, but I'll erase that because this establishment offered a safe and tasty experience when I needed it most. Lindy's, Yay! I'm a fan.

Ordered green chile fries and veggie combo. Not the best Greek salad or humus, but decent. However, the lack of kalamata olives was definitely noticed in the taste. Regardless, the cheap price--and being open on a Sunday--redeemed the meal.

Ghetto restaurant.! Had a table of guys using profanity every other word, owner sitting at next table, didn't say a word. Fries were burned, had to pay extra for fries with a sandwich. Utensils were dirty. Avoid this one!

Sorry. Not impressed. I came in after a few beers on a Friday night and ordered a breakfast burrito. Unfortunately for Lindy's, I wasn't drunk enough apparently. The eggs were bland and tasted like they were about seventy percent water. The chile didn't have the kick of the flavor that I needed. It's pretty rare that I comment how much I dislike a meal whilst eating it, but that's what I did here. Bottom line, if you're food isn't going to be agreeable while slightly intoxicated, how the hell will it taste when I'm dead sober? Scary to think about.

Typical diner setting, typical diner menu. Most patrons were obviously regular customers. Waitress seemed more concerned with talking about her son's football team that taking my order correctly. I am always impressed by wait staff that can take an order without writing anything down, but this woman should use pen and paper. I asked for a burger cooked medium with extra pickles. I received a well done burger with 2 pickle coins. Food was fine, nothing special.

This is, I think, the only place downtown to find a greek salad but it's always incomplete and wrong. It's not always easy to run back to the restaurant and have the chef fixed what he can't seem to get right. Not spending my money on this place again.

Was supposed to open at 8. Owners were just showing up to open the doors at 8:15. We decided that it was a bad sign and decided to NOT try it out!

I was in the area for business and nothing around my hotel was open for breakfast so I decided to walk down Central Ave & found this place. The owner/cook was nice enough to open the door before their actual opening time. He made me feel welcome and offered to cook fast since I was in a hurry. The food is your typical diner food but what I truly appreciated about this place is the décor. They've got some retro signs that are funny and they will keep you entertained while you eat your food. The service was stellar and everyone was very friendly. I would encourage business in the area to open a little early in case there are conferences in town and people staying in nearby hotels want breakfast.

Lindy's is OK in my book. It's an Albuquerque staple, and I am not sure of the recent run of bad reviews. I had breakfast or lunch (I mean, it's a diner - I am supposed to) and it was fantastic. One of my dining partners had a $5 shake (I don't really know if it was a $5 shake and it wasn't called Amos n Andy either, but it was a damn good $5 shake, just the same) said shake also led to a lengthy discussion and an adrenaline shot to the heart later in the day. Well, really it was a 5 hour energy, but whatevs. Anyway, food was great. Had the Cowboy breakfast - a chicken fried steak like a diner should serve, hashbrowns like at a truckstop (in a good way), and toast that was an inch thick. Bathrooms were clean. Met the owner, Steve - good guy, runs a good business. Also, they have beer again, maybe not on tap, but certainly in the bottle.

Great diner. Friendly and attentive staff. Quick service. We were in a rush to catch a movie, but they got us in & out quickly. The prices are incredibly low for good food and a lot of it. The Greek food is especially good here and they servings are huge! Hidden amongst all the bats downtown. Burgers are good here too.

Excellent diner! Great atmosphere! The wait staff is extremely friendly and attentive! The cook knows what he's doing! I got the Cowboy with two eggs sunny side up (cooked perfectly). It's a tender chicken fried steak over a bed of pinto beans and crispy fried hash browns, smothered in chile and cheese with a tortilla on the side to mop up all the goodness! Yummmm! I've been looking for a great diner in the Duke City and I finally found it! So good I'm coming back this weekend and bringing the family!

Killer chocolate milk shake. I needed to start my review there. So simple yet so good. It was getting close to the end of my vacation in New Mexico. Decided to check out downtown Albuquerque as I hadn't walked around here earlier in the trip. Also was looking for some lunch. I came upon Lindy's and thought I might give her a shot. Not too crowded when I walked in, but it got busier as my time there went on. There was only one server and she had to do a bit of running around. I ordered a Guacamole Cheeseburger along with the shake. Got a side of potato salad instead of fries. Glad I did as the potato salad was really fresh. Anyway, my burger came out, but the server had yet to make the milk shake. I was a bit mad at that at first but then realized she was by herself and was doing the best she could. I pulled back on eating the burger so that I could enjoy it once my shake came. The burger was good. Nothing amazing. Just good. The shake definitely put the meal over the top. A good random find.

So, I'm not sure if being a little (reads overly) intoxicated skews my review but I quite enjoyed my breakfast burrito at 2 AM. The server had a little rockabilly look going on and she was very friendly and attentive. Even though she was dealing with tables upon tables of drunkards. My burrito was good. Eggs, potatoes, chile, cheese. She recommended the spicy green chile and it hit the spot. BUT...the best thing about my meal was the hashbrowns. I love potatoes and these were some darn good hashbrowns. I couldn't stop talking about them for at least three days. My next mission will to eat at Lindy's sober and see if there is a difference. :)

LOVE IT!!! Seriously. This place has been around since the 20's . It is AWESOME! Homey little coffee shop diner... I wish it was close to my house! They serve a limited selection of booze- but hey! It is there! The desserts looked pretty awesome- but I did not indulge (really- because I did not see them until I was tracking out the door). They serve breakfast all the time. They serve an AWESOME meatloaf sandwich. If guy knew what he was doing- he would have stumbled on this original and old timing route 66 classic!!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
