Amazing authentic French cuisine with Middle-Eastern influence. Lived in Montreal for 20 years and was surrounded by this kind of food. It's a delight to see and enjoy those delicious flavors in ABQ. la Crepe Michel is a real gem in the heart of Old Town Alburquerque. We have had many wonderful dinners here by ordering the daily specials. Claudie is a passionate chef and kind-hearted restaurant owner and her team is very attentive & professional. Many can learn a thing or two from her about running a business. Merveilleux!

I wanted to like this place. I really wanted to love this place. Everything about it was giving me the impression that it was destined to be great. I'm going to chalk it up to bad timing. First tried to come for dinner. But! No alcohol allowed on the outside tables. So we swiped left on dinner. Went back for lunch on a Wednesday, to enjoy the outside patio, sans alcohol, and the staff immediately seemed to be 'in the weeds'. We weren't in a rush so I didn't think it would be an issue, I'm good at being a patient diner. The server was sweet but uninformed. He was new, so I understand. Forgot to bring us our coffees and only gave us one water. The hostess was literally running in and out of the door and seemed quite frazzled, but was genuinely nice. The food was very good, vegetarian crepes and great french onion soup. I'd return to this place for the food should I have the chance. I hope they are able to increase their staff so that the reviews stay positive.

I was actually a little saddened by this place. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, I don't know. But from start to finish, my experience here was just... Meh. The service was nothing exceptional. I was sitting outside on a 90 degree afternoon, and was a little upset that I had to physically go inside to ask for more water... I sound like a snob, but I feel like the waiters should have been a little more attentive. I got a dessert crepe, and it was just boring. Nothing about it was worth the $5 I paid for it. Like I said, maybe I ordered the wrong thing, but I was just very dissatisfied. Mais, c'est la vie.

Right in the heart of Old Town sits this quaint café. They are only open certain hours so be sure to check before searching this café out. We started brunch with a cup of the "soup of the day" ~ Tomato Cauliflower. I make a homemade cauliflower soup so we were anxious to give theirs a try. It wasn't bad! We both thought it was missing some salt and something crunchy, like a crouton. With it being brunch, we ordered savory crêpes: Scrambled egg with asparagus and swiss cheese and chicken w/mushroom. I have to say neither of us were impressed. Way too much swiss cheese and the hubster had clumps of flour where the rue was not mixed appropriately before going into a gravy which he said had absolutely no flavor. I was not a fan of the bread and butter ~ which is very unusual for me! The butter was sprinkled with course salt, but the bread by itself was salty! I ordered a mimosa to enjoy with the brunch. I have to say, I have had way better. Pretty disappointed with our foody experience. We both gave it a 2.5 star. Overall, the soup was the best part of our meal.

Delicious. I'm from Los Angeles and have traveled around the world. This Gem in Old Town takes me to some of the finest dining I've experienced! The filet mignon was better than the top steak houses I've been to. The sea bass with saffron cream was top notch. I am here on business and have been to this restaurant twice already... LOVE!

Adorable café a short walk from the Hotel Albequerque. I came here for lunch during a conference, and returned for dinner. The owner, chef came out and hugged everyone, this is where the locals go. Skip the greasy tacos of NM and give yourself a real treat, there is an extensive menu with pork, chicken and beef entrees. Very reasonably priced, nice portions, extensive wine list, Belgian ale, and wonderful crepes.

One of my favorite restaurants in Albuquerque! Great authentic atmosphere and I have never been disappointed with the food. Prices are extremely reasonable! Went last night to celebrate our anniversary and got a wonderful bottle of Bordeaux, moules frites for an appetizer, delicious steak frites (steak had to have been at least 10oz) and lamb entrées and an amazing rosewater creme brulee for dessert. Everything came out to less than $100! Insanity. The crepes are also amazing and even more reasonably priced.

Very French country. Funky atmosphere. Great crepes, and other bistro foods. Good and reasonable wine list. Off the tourist path in old town and a break from southwestern food.

Enjoyed a yummy ham, cheese and onion crepe here today. It was cooked perfectly, had lots of fillings and was the perfect size (not one of those giant crepes). Dog friendly too with outdoor seating and server filling my dog's water bowl for me. Really enjoyed my meal here!

Everything was wonderful, and our only regret was that we couldn't eat more. There were so many details that were done perfectly -- the choices on the menu, the selection of crepes (my husband had mushroom crepes), my filled flaky pastry with a wonderful lavender goat cheese inside and a salad with perfect vinaigrette.... Oh if only we had enough appetite for dessert. We hope to get back there some day, and envy anyone who has the opportunity to eat there!

Who would think Albuquerque would have good French food? I honestly did not. However this establishment surprises in a good way. Walking in, you are greeted by a red curtain, blocking your view of a small French restaurant with tons of character. I personally love smaller restaurants as they add more intimacy to your experience. The lightning was superb, and the wine selection modest (better than I expected). The food was also delicious. Crepe is in the title, and for good reason. My friend and I shared a spinach crepe, and it was delicious. I also got the faison, and it was succulent. I wouldn't say it was the best French food I've ever had, but I honestly wasn't expecting this gem. If you're in Old Town and want to take someone special out, I would recommend this place. It's not the typical Tex-Mex/Mex affair, and the venue is romantic to say the least.

My family has been dining here for at least 10 years now. It is a favorite and I have never had a bad meal here. The restaurant is small and cute, and the staff are friendly and helpful (especially Larry!). I have never had french onion soup as good as the soup served at this restaurant. Highly recommend dining here!!

Located just behind the museum in a quiet, charming patio shared with Old Town venders. I sat on the patio with Boris, my pooch. The wait staff were hard pressed but took the time to bring Boris water. I had the tastiest poulet grille ever! Looking forward to breakfast next time.

This was perfect dinner, or at least close to perfect. Everything was above expectations, from greeting by the waitstaff all the way to dessert. Liked fish soups, enjoyed seafood and salmon crepes, well thought out wine list, with great selection of French red wines. Service was excellent too. The only critical note: crepes are a bit heavy on mushrooms, that part was not something I liked. Oh, and prices were great too, very inexpensive. Solid 5 stars

Not really sure how to review this. On the one hand, really beautiful dining ambiance. The waiter came over and lit a candle for us, and it is a very small restaurant - we could only see maybe 6 tables around us. On the other hand, the food was somewhat hit-or-miss. The soup of the day, tomato, was really, really good. My spouse and I went on and on about it. I had the ratatouille crepe - it wasn't bad, but it wasn't really spectacular, either. I can't remember what my spouse got, but I do remember that the spices were really strong and not enjoyable. They were actually crunchy. Kind of a turn-off. The espresso and chocolate dessert is really nice, as was the wine we tried. Overall, I think this place is worth trying. Old town is a really beautiful place, and it's really cool to see this little French restaurant sitting there.

Absolutely the best! The owner here pours her heart and soul into the foods she prepares and delivers you the most fantastic meal. I have had something different every time I go in and it is all just so wonderful. I have been going here now for over 4 years and it's always a real treat. I have never been disappointed with this place. I had the strawberry crepes the last time I was there and the French Onion Soup with their bread and butter. For a main dish I had a mushroom crepe.

Service was very good however the food was a bit disappointing. We had the mushroom crepe that I felt fell short of texture of my expectations. Sauce fell apart and lost its creaminess.

  • John C.

I had moules (mussels) and frits. The sauce that the mussels were in tasted like they just pored in some milk. The worse mussels I have ever had. And the fries were cold. It was quite a bad meal, I would have been better off at McDonalds. However my wife had sea bass and enjoyed her meal. One good meal and one very bad meal does not equate to a return visit.

INTERESTING LITTLE CAFE IN OLD TOWN ALBUQUERQUE - I RECOMMEND DESSERT! I dragged "Miranda" with me on a rainy day into Albuquerque on the search for my addiction = TURQUOISE! We worked up an appetite and needed a break from traditional New Mexican fair --turns to YELPERS -- Ok, find Crepe Michel, walk in & come to find the chef sitting and sharpening his knives on a stone. This gave me good vibes, a chef mindful of their craft & tools. We grab a table and come to find a classic French menu in the wilds of the southwest! We were served French bread = not that great :-/ I ordered French onion soup next & it was perfect & NOT salty, perfectly seasoned in fact. Next I had the pate. the half portion was again spot on delicious but way too much for one person. "Miranda" had the chicken & mushroom in cream sauce crepe she said it was great and ate every bite! We def splurged on desert! I had a sweet crepe with strawberries and Chantilly cream = perfect! This place really did great classic French preparations and was a nice break from the local boring haunts of Old Town!

Claudie is the best French Chef in town. Her staff are personable and knowledgeable. I highly recommend the filet de boef and a strawberry crepe; just a few of the wonderful things she makes.

AMAZING! I've been coming here since I was a child so I've grown up on this restaurant. The staff is friendly (but usually very quiet), and the food is delicious! My favorite is the filet de bouf with pepper cream sauce, and the muscles with cream sauce. Don't be intimidated by the quiet and intimate setting. You don't have to speak french and be "fancy" to eat here. Just know that you're coming for traditional home cooked french food.

For Le Crepe Michel, it's the entirety of the experience that matters. Not only does it figure impossible to find such authentic, flavorful French cuisine in a back alley of Albuquerque's Old Town, but once you get comfortable at your tiny table, it feels absolutely right. For too many years this tourist-laden neighborhood has been burdened with a plethora of shopping and dining options meant to turn a quick buck, and that's a shame. The historic authenticity of Old Town is too regal to be tarted-up by a gang of shot glass toting, chile ristra slinging fly-by-night extortionists. Le Crepe Michel is the type of business that can change this perception, much like the evolving character of Santa Fe's Plaza. The quality of the cuisine is simply top international notch. The crepes don't look to hide under a bevy of presentational distractions, no, here you're getting the crepe on a white platter with perhaps a little herb garnish, and the crepe is about all that they do (although I have had the pleasure of indulging in the steak frites--magnifique!). I recommend both the Crêpe au Saumon et Asperges and the Crêpe aux Epinards, but you can't go wrong with anything here. The wine list is truly impressive, although we love the Belgian beer selection, a perfect partner to the Brie en Croute opening course. Some have noted an attitude about the wait staff, something decidedly French. So have I. It's actually professionalism, an expertise and pride in the product you won't find other places. And when the sun goes down on Old Town and you're tucked away in this cozy, quiet little abode--hopefully looking into the eyes of someone you love--you can't help but swoon for this place.

So I don't normally give one star, but had to in this case. It is highly overrated. To flag ice a little background, I have travelled to both northern and southern France having both Crepes and buckwheat Crepes. The actually Crepes here are good, done right and taste good, but the filling is horrible. I ordered the chicken and mushrooms crepe which was very very bland. I do not recommend it. They then remade me they shroom and goat cheese which was pretty good. However both were served with a side of frozen vegetables. The quiche Lorraine was plain jane, actually more of a frittata than a quiche. And the other Crepes my family ordered were pretty good. Dessert Crepes were awesome and I recommend just going for those. But after waiting 50 minutes for the food and 20 minutes for the food, it was definitely not worth it. 1 star for sure. Don't recommend.

Awesome. French. The French atmosphere somehow made my children behave at the table. We shared a big bowl of muscles. Somehow the French atmosphere must have made my children like muscles. I had the Salmon and Pomme crepe and substituted béchamel as the condiment and savoured it. The waiter was very cool and the service is sorta French ergo spread out well over an hour. That is not to say it's slow an inattentive. Just that you get the first course, then you finish, then they start the next course, then you finish etc. Instead of the "turn those tables" mentality where the entre is ready to go as soon as you finish the appetizer. Yet another reason, I'm sorta freaked out that my kids were able to sit still for two hours. Weird... I'd have to recommend not bringing your two year old here, I just got lucky.

One of my all-time favorite restaurants! Crepe Michel is such a quaint and cozy space and the food is always fantastic! I love me some French food, have been to Paris a few times, and this is still some of the best French, or any type of food for that matter, that I have found here in town! One of my favorite dishes to order is the Saumon Au Champagne, which is salmon accompanied by a sauce so delicious I could drink a bowl of it! I also love and recommend the Filet de Boeuf, which is always cooked to specified perfection and also accompanied by one of two amazing sauces. If I'm craving a great steak, this is one of only two places that I will consider. The menu isn't extensive, not that it needs to be, but there are always some interesting specials on offer. There is one special that I literally dream about, and when I am fortunate enough to show up on a night it's on the board, I am in heaven and can hardly contain my elation! They also have wonderful crepes, both savory and sweet. I can also really appreciate that the owner is the loveliest woman on top of being an excellent chef. And if you go and are lucky enough to have Larry as your server, who is utterly delightful, then I think you are set for a superb dining experience!

An incredibly charming little spot in Old Town! Ok, duh, it's not as good as in Europe... But this is Albuquerque, NM! And still very yummy crepes. The crepes are nice and thin, but do tend to get soggy on the bottom due to creamy/liquidy fillings, though top stays slightly crisped. I've tried the spinach artichoke with goat cheese and chicken mushroom crepes. Both were very creamy, and the spinach wasn't the freshest (might have even been frozen). But even still, the meal was enjoyable, perhaps due to the incredibly lovely setting of Crepe Michel. Their wine selection is also good. If you're sick of New Mex fare, and are looking for intimate ambience, come here. Also, bring your date here!

really cozy restaurant tucked away in old town (you could actually miss it). went here for dessert and drinks in the night and the outdoor patio area was beautifully lit. got the choc mousse (ok) but the orange blossom brulee and the ladyfinger cake with green apples was really really good. nice place for intimate conversations over dinner and drinks.

Yelpers - you have led me astray on my visit to Albuquerque! This place is definitely overrated on yelp. 2-3 stars in my opinion (the Crepe David helps push it up!) Why? - Almost everything is served lukewarm - from the soup, to the coffee, to my main dish (the plate was hot, but the items weren't) - Sketchy service - one of the servers didn't know how one of the specials was prepared, put on whipped cream when I specifically asked for it on the side, bread came after I was already done my soup - No check-in during the main dish - Vegetables with the main are completely overdone... If you like vegetable mush, then you'll be thrilled On the plus side, the taste of the lentil soup was lovely in spite of it bring lukewarm. The fish special of the day, a barramundi, was definitely skippable and the sides (greasy potatoes and over-cooked vegetables) were terrible. Maybe I should have gone with my initial instinct and ordered a savory crepe. At least dinner ended well... The Crepe David was as delicious as it sounds on the menu - nutella + vanilla ice cream + chocolate drizzle = love! Good ratios and the crepe was a good thinness and texture. Would definitely recommend this and based on this experience, I'd come back for dessert only.

Fantastic French cuisine gem, in old town, perfect for lunch! Legit French food like croque monsieur, and savory crepes to satisfy those who have been to France. And the piece de la resistance: dessert crepes. The chocolate crepe had callebaut chocolate and was divine. Cannot wait to go there again next time.

This place was a welcome change amongst all the southwestern cuisine in NM. I had the beef salad and the dessert crepe and it was great. The homemade Dijon dressing was prefect in acidity and went marvelously with the beef. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

We stopped here for lunch one day on our road trip from WI to AZ. It was so good. I had crepes filled with baked salmon, asparagus and covered with a yummy cheese sauce. Fresh green beans and carrots were served on the side. Everything was delicious. We ordered dessert which was usually don't do, but in a french creperie I had to try the Crepes Suzette! They were really orangey, but very good. I do like crepes alot. Think I need to get myself a pan and a couple good recipes. They work for appies, main courses or dessert. How versatile is that? Nice glass of white wine, friendly server made it a terrific lunch. Only negative was the teeny restroom was FREEZING cold! I would definitely go back.

Some of the better food you'll find in old town, Crepe Michel is a cultural mismatch but worth it if you're in the area and/or want French food in Albuquerque. It's tucked back in an old-town alley in an old adobe building, but when you walk in it has the charm of an old, french town restaurant. This is not fancy dining, but the food is very good. I've gotten the croque madame (a ham and gruyere sandwich with a fried egg on top; my standard french restaurant test faire) and various sweet and savory crepes. All were very good, but more of a "great home-style" versus "fancy restaurant", which matches the decor. The service here has always been friendly, but sometimes slow. I don't know that I've been to a French restaurant that isn't.

This place is so warm and charming. From the moment you walk in you feel welcome by all the incredible staff. The cuisine is absolutely fantastic and the knowledgeable waiters gave great suggestions including knowing lots about wine. I will definitely be back and would suggest this place to anyone in the Alburquerque area.

Dinner was good (the crepe aux meres) but dessert was amazing. The crepe aux chocolate was one of the best I have ever had; I wanted more! On top of that, my food was delayed so I was given a free refill on my wine. Great customer service and fantastic food. Highly recommend!

I had lunch today at this wonderful French restaurant. The entire meal was 5 star. Great wine, salad, seafood crepe, banana rum dessert crepe and coffee. I could not have had a better experience. My waitress Candace made the experience even better with her friendliness. Although I went in close to the end of lunch hours she never rushed me. I highly recommend dining here.

I went to Crepe Michel for dinner last night. I had the Steak Frites and so did my friend. The steak was very good, it was large and my med rare was perfect. The frites, on the other hand weren't special, they were fine, hot and crunchy, and consumed... We asked for a recommendation for a red wine, and were steered towards a lovely choice. I unfortunately, can't remember the name of the wine, but it was great with the steak. The service is quirky, but friendly, and while its not posh Paris, it feels like a friendly French country restaurant. I've had crepes in the past that I enjoyed, and they now have a gluten free version, which is excellent. This was also the restaurant that I fell in love with Scrumpy's Hard Apple Cider, so I have many fond memories.

The chairs were old and creaky, I'm surprised they didn't break from all the usage. This place is the true meaning of a hole in the wall. In fact, it would be a hole inside of a hole in the wall, if holes in walls had smaller holes. The experience here was pleasant an the wait staff friendly. They really have their french pronunciation down! The kitchen was serious business as the chef--I believe the same girl that owns the place--was cooking atop an average gas top stove. No small time chefs in the back o hidden cascade nonsense here! I thought my cod and vegetables were rather unflavored but this could be my misunderstanding of French cuisine. It was an experience, but I've had better in this town for cheaper.

I was very impressed with La Crepe Michel. The food was great, the prices were reasonable, and the atmosphere was exactly what I was looking for -- a romantic, hidden gem, with an authentic French feel. And the crepes? Amazing. Highly recommended for a relaxing evening with your sweetheart.

We were shocked to find a creperie in the middle of Albuquerque's Old Town. We got the Crepe David and the Spinach, Artichoke and Goat cheese Crepe. The Crepe David was good but mostly tasted like ice cream without a strong Belgian chocolate flavor as promised. The spinach artichoke goat cheese crepe had good flavor but while the plate was exceedingly hot, the crepe itself was tepid. The decor is hard to describe. Let's call it French Southwest open cellar. There are skylights which helps open up the rather tiny and dark interior. It's decidedly unfancy but not a turnoff. The homemade brad was a definite highlight and we'd tr it again if we were local.

Visited this cute little establishment in Old Town with three colleagues, and we all left stuffed and happy. The French bread they bring to the table was a little weird (kind of like beer bread in texture), but tasty. I started with the soup de jour, cream of green bean, which was delightful and rich. Then I had a spinach, artichoke and goat cheese crepe, which was huge and flavorful, and came with green beans and carrots on the side. My colleagues had the beef bourguignon crepe, which looked great and he said was tender and delicious. Another colleague had the salmon asparagus crepe; he paused twice during the meal to express his delight. My third colleague enjoyed her pear, chocolate and Chantilly dessert crepe. I'll be going back within a few days for the Nutella one!

I was visiting from Chicago on business and decided to check out the restaurant based on the reviews. I thought the food was excellent--from the basket of warm bread to the crepe I had. I chose the one with wild mushrooms and goat cheese. It came with some vegetables that were flavored to perfection. Although I am giving this 5 stars, I did have some concerns. It was way understaffed and kind of disorganized. If the owner reads yelp: have a designated hostess and give some structure to your waitresses! They were running around like chickens, albeit nicely mannered chickens, with their heads cut off.

This place is awesome! It feels like you're in France (okay, I've never been, but I'm certain this is what it would be like). Service was excellent, the 2.95$ salad with their own dressing is worth coming here for alone. And the seafood crepe was amazing. Rich, creamy, and way more seafood than mushrooms, which is a rarity. Only downside, no beer or wine outside.

A really nice break from the Madding crowd. A quiet little courtyard off of one of the main crazy tourist streets right in the heart of Old Town. The other restaurants were swarming and long wait times. Michel's was able to take us right in. Nice French cuisine also gives you a break from the all the southwestern cuisine.

A tiny, cozy, authentic French restaurant tucked away in Old Town. I went there with an old friend on her recommendation, and I wasn't disappointed. You walk in and see maybe eight tables and think that's all there is. Well it used to be like that, but they also have another room that used to be the patio, now covered complete with a tree trunk still in the middle. You walk through the kitchen for that, and there's even a secluded private room behind a curtain in back of THAT! When we were there, it was for a party of 9 or so gals, but they said it's often set up with a few extra tables. Talk about a hideaway! I was told this place has been open for over 30 years and that says something. I had the salmon and asparagus crepe, and she had the seafood crepe (Crêpe aux Fruits de Mer - shrimp with 2 kinds of scallops and mushrooms in sauce). I opened with the French onion soup which was tops along with only one other place I've eaten it. She opened with the escargot, which was served out of the shell on a plate with multiple half-globes, each containing garlic butter and mushroom pieces with each. I think there were about a dozen. Keep the plate till your main course arrives so you and your date might fight over who gets the melted butter remnants drizzled onto their dinner! My crepe was delicious, and I sampled hers, and it was DREAMY. I should've gotten that one instead. I'm not a smitten teenage girl, I'm a grown man, but it made me sigh and close my eyes. The flavor of the creamy sauce painted pictures in my mind, and this never happens. The same thing happened with our shared dessert, the crème brûlée. Prices were reasonable for dinner, and special preparations are on the chalk board in the second room and the server will tell you of others. I also had a French beer called Gavroche which I highly recommend, and I'm a beer snob. My only complaint is that our server wasn't QUITE with it, I had to remind him of my beer which I said I wanted straight away. However he was very nice, not snooty, and was perfect in every way after that. I think I would like to offer 4.5 stars. I hope after my next visit when I'm in town again, I can get blown away enough to upgrade this review to 5 stars. What a special secret this place is!

NOT HAVE AGAIN: I am really bummed out. the bœuf bourguignon crepe was just not all that good. Also, the chocolate mousse was disappointing. Not sure what happen since last July, but both dishes were disappointing. The service was very good and we succeeded in having a nice lunch while feeding and caring for our grandson. But, I will return to Le Crepe Michel.

I love French food and I love this place. The food is so good and the location so intimate and special. They have a little front patio, a little dining room in the front of the restaurant and a bigger roofed/walled patio that is my favorite place (with trees inside and all). Sometimes they have musicians in this area and that makes your meal even more pleasant, as if that could be possible! I recommend trying the day specials. They are to die for!

Fine french cuisine. I prefer the Croque Madam at The Grove. Their specials are good and crepes are usually good too. Worth checking out - nice atmosphere in old town.

Yeah...pretty much not good. I had the spinach crepe and it tasted like creamed spinach out of a can folded into a crepe. No flavor at all. Just vegetable mush. The crepe itself is ok but hard to tell when it's drenched in cheese. I had to add a lot of salt to make it taste decent. The french fries were served on the cold side and tasted pre-frozen straight out of a bag. The partner had the beef bourgignon crepe, which he said was extremely tough. I could see him struggling to cut the huge pieces of meat. It honestly looked like dog food. I would not recommend this place. I could make better crepes at home and that's not saying much.

Decent wine, good desserts, the food wasn't that great. The crepes were fresh, but the fillings weren't very flavorful. The escargot wasn't that great--too greasy, not enough flavor, and they came out lukewarm. The atmosphere is fantastic, tucked away in the corner of old town--feels very European. The staff was wonderful and polite, but service was a little slow. The kitchen is small and cramped, so I can't really fault them. All in all, it's a decent French restaurant in downtown Albuquerque and a fun place to take friends, family, or business contacts from out of town.

My wife and I went to La Crepe Michel last night, and we really enjoyed it. The environment is very cozy and comfortable; our table was near a crackling warm fireplace. I wish Yelp allowed half stars, because La Crepe Michel would get 4.5 from me -- it would be a perfect 5, but I'll get to that. The good: Great atmosphere, prices are very good, appetizers are well-timed and delicious. The main dishes are beautifully presented and expertly cooked, bursting with flavor. The young lady who stayed mainly in the kitchen area, but occasionally came out to help serve our table, was very friendly and warm. The not-so-good: In contrast to the young lady who helped us, our waiter (a young man) seemed to offer the stereotypical French experience; that is, even when smiling he seemed very cold and his voice hinted at a bit of disdain for us, as if he doubted our ability to fully appreciate the splendor of his restaurant. Perhaps that's true, but it's not good service. In a technical sense he was a fine waiter, attentive and timely, and he answered whatever questions we had before ordering. But there was no warmth, and this bothered my wife to the point that it put a bit of a damper on our enjoyment of the evening. Overall, La Crepe Michel is a lovely place to have a dinner. The food and general atmosphere are both excellent and well worth the money. If you don't mind the potential risk of a bit of snobbish arrogance, you'll have a very enjoyable time.

Best and most authentic French food I have eaten in New Mexico in the almost 20 years I have lived here. And if you're a fan of passionfruit creme brule, call ahead and Claudine will have it prepped for you. Also a great wine cellar that features authentic French wines and not just the generic import drivel. All this combined with surprisingly low prices (not sure who put the $$$ thingy on the restaurant profile) - a true hidden gem!

If you want to have an excellent fine dining experience, then this is your place. Be prepared to have a real meal experience, consisting of bottles of wine, four courses, and a world all your own. The food is exquisite, soaking your palette with incredible flavor. By far my favorite restaurant in town and the low lighting setting begs me to stay for hours.

Lunch is good but the dessert is the best you can find in Albuquerque for sure.

A tiny place in old town. I looked for it after reading in on Yelp and didn't expect it in the back of the little courtyard. There were 4 parties when I got there and quickly realized 2 of the tables are regulars. It has a very friendly, homely feel. The service was very attentive. I ordered the soup de jour which is a tomato based summer soup. Loved it. Salmon crepe was little too creamy and heavy for me, and yet not a lot of flavor. It's a cute place and I was glad to have tried it. Not really impressed though.

I went to La Crepe Michel tonight and was so impressed. The waiter suggested the Crepe Ratatouille and it was great, flavorful and warm. The crepe itself was light and crispy in some parts and fluffy in others. I followed it up with a Crepe Helene which was awesome. These are the first crepes I've had in the US that even come close to the crepes I had when visiting France. The service was also very friendly and intimate. Overall, great place.

We went for lunch and will be going back. I had the crêpe aux epinards (spinach with cream and garlic topped with melted swiss cheese) and my mother had the quiche special - salmon and asparagus. They were both divine. The 5 star rating is for the food, it was simply divine and really filling and because it was a really reasonable spot for lunch.

A little pricey, but generally worth it. The atmosphere is quaint and delightful. The crepes are very, very good. The bread is hot and fresh. The french dressing they put on their house salad is out of this world! Onion soup is the best in the city. Good wine selection and nice chocolate mousse for dessert. It can feel a little crowded, because it is in a very interesting, old small building. One of the rooms has a tree growing through it, which is kind of cool. People say it is not good for kids, and I can understand why. It is small and quiet and french food. However, my 10 and 11 year old have come here with us several times and have loved it. They have french onion soup, chicken crepes and chocolate crepes or mousse. All depends what kind of taste your kids have and how used they are to eating in restaurants and staying well behaved.

I had some trepidation, but the food was hot, served well, and was tasty. I'll be back since there are many more offerings I must experience.

So romantic. My sweetie and I had crepes under the stars at one of their outdoor cafe tables. It was like being in Europe. The service was wonderful and the crepes were delicious.

Giving 5 stars is not for me, so 4 is as good as it gets for a restaurant. I love this place and we return time and time again. The staff are superb and know the menu intimately. The kitchen is right in the center of the restaurant - nothing to hide there. I have never had even a mediocre meal here, and some meals are among the winners on my "best meals ever" list. You cannot go wrong at La Crepe Michel, genuine French cooking without the hype, cheekiness or huge price. This is the real thing folks.

Come for lunch, but check the hours first. Great little place tucked off the main drag. Try the Soupe de poissons and poulet grille (you won't even need the bread).

I had lunch here on my way to Santa Fe and was very pleased. The place is small and very cute. The service was excellent and the crepes were just what I wanted. I had the "Crêpe aux Epinards" (Spinach with cream and garlic topped with melted Swiss cheese). Being full--the glutton in me had to have dessert. I had the Crêpe Au Chocolat (Melted Belgian Callebault chocolate and Chantilly cream) and couldn't have been happier! It's really not a place to go if you are in a rush. If you are looking for a relaxed ambiance--this is it!

The pate de champign is very good. The crepe itsef is very ordinary. Nothing compare to what I had in France. The service was very good, so I gave it a 4-star.

Leek and potato soup was excellent. The Crepes Suzettes was average. Not exemplary, but worth having. The spinach crepes are great. Service was very friendly on my first visit, but on the second they were severely understaffed and we waited more than 20 minutes just to be offered water.

My wife and I loved this place. It was very reminiscent of our time in Europe. The wait staff was great using all the french terms but not in a patronizing way which usually seems to happen to us as 20 somethings in a French restaurant.

Okay this place is a totally small, wonderfully French hideout in Old Town. I was so excited to see that they change the five entrees everyday, and write them on the board (along with everything else) only in French. The menu isn't large, and your server will help you decode the specials. Everything is fresh , flavorful and feels special. The best part that there is an 85 year old woman in town that is originally from the French countryside and she makes their authentic Pate. Holy ish it's somethin else to write home about. I will dream of this pate accompanied by perfect little cornichons.

Delicious food, yet not overpriced. Very nice, sophisticated atmosphere as well. It's definitely someplace you could treat a loved one to dinner to without hurting your wallet.

Wandering Old Town wondering if there was something nice to eat, we were given a recommendation to go to La Crepe. It is hidden away and its name may not give the impression that it is a full service French restaurant. Not the most glamorous interior, particularly the back room, but oh my gosh, this was the best meal we had in a 5 day trip to Santa Fe and just a single night in Albuquerque as was by far the best cost performance, taste and enjoyment meal of the trip. And if you are gluten-free, they even do buckwheat crepes.

Country cuisine, native French tongue-speakers to read off the specials, crepes to die for, and a nicoise salad that does not use "rare seared tuna" to up the snooty factor. Oh, and a honey/walnut dessert crepe that keeps me drooling.

Wow, this place is awesome! My boyfriend and I were staying in Old Town in Albuqueque for a night and went to this place based on Yelp reviews. We were not disappointed. The food was really good and fresh and the service was excellent. You have to walk down this little cobblestone walkway to find it tucked away, but that adds to the ambiance as you feel like you're actually in France. The prices were very reasonable considering how delicious everything was. So if you're in Old Town, don't miss this place!

We ate there for New Year's Eve a couple of days ago. First, we were unaware until we arrived that the menu was set and the price quite high ($65/person with wine). By the time we realized this, we felt obligated to stay. I wish we had been told on the phone that what the menu was for the evening. If you are considering eating here on a holiday, make sure you check if there is a set menu and the pricing. Pros: -Ambiance was nice -Beautiful, old building -Good wine selection Cons: -Food! For the price, the food was nothing special. I would have paid only half of what the set price was. I had a fried sole fish dish that was way too oily (even for fried food) and not very flavorful. The salads were nothing special. -Some of the staff were great, others were less than great I would try to restaurant on a non-holiday evening to get a better sense of the food. The restaurant's set menus, as far as I can tell, are not worth anywhere near the price.

Tucked away near the plaza in old town, in a tiny little space, is an authentic French restaurant, replete with French-speaking waiters and kitchen staff. There's no pretense here--this is the real deal. The intimate setting makes a great spot for a romantic dinner, and the crepes are reasonably priced. Make sure to pay attention to the daily specials, too, as I was wonderfully surprised by a monkfish special that I had last time we went. Splurge on dessert, and order the charlotte, whatever it is. They always offer one, and the flavors rotate each week. We have had it both times we've gone, and it's a wonderful way to finish a nice meal.

Excellent. Excellent food, wine and service. Excellent ambiance. And realistically speaking, excellent value. When I say excellent, I mean on a worldwide scale, not just "even better than Teriyaki Chicken Bowl." Order a special, or the salmon crepe (or any other crepe) and you will not be disappointed. Go here, you will not regret it.

I'd say La Crepe Michel is just okay. Keep in mind this is a traveler's review based on just one experience there, for whatever that's worth to you. First the good points. The location is a nice tucked away nook in Old Town, it's small and charming and there are a few outdoor tables for when the weather's warm, and the staff is accommodating and friendly. But when it comes to the food, our experience was it's only average. I had one of the evening specials, a dover sole described as lightly breaded and pan-seared. It was actually fairly heavily breaded and greasy and nearly tasteless and the vegetables on the side were mediocre. My friend got a vegetarian (ratatouille) crepe and that was better. The crepe was fine and the vegetables were nice, though taken together it was nothing special. My local crepe trailer in Austin turns out far better crepes than this. If I was going again, though, I would definitely forgo the more expensive specials and stick with the crepes which, after all, are their specialty.

A really great place for special occasions big and small. Wonderful, creative food and great wine. Nice atmosphere and a great location. And for French food, it's not a bad deal either. It's not all that small either, there are several rooms past the front of the restaurant. I was surprised at how big it was.
