We have been frequenting Kasey's since their opening and have had the chance to sample, and enjoy, a wide variety of menu items. Everything we've had has been exquisite! The one brunch we had was exceptional! It included a spectacular chicken and pumpkin waffles and it was to die for!! Tonight we split the wedge salad and fish tacos and both were quite good. They were thoughtful enough to spilt both items onto separate plates for us with no addition charge or us even having to ask. The service has been very high quality and, although there is a semi casual feel, the service experience is first class without being snooty. The dedication to locally sourced ingredients extends to the entire menu and nearly all of the beverage selections. The menu is fresh and original and the chef makes a concerted effort to make herself accessible to the patrons. This personal touch is refreshing and seems to be an intentional part of the restaurant's philosophy. We are always happy to return and hope this place stays around for a long time!

Came a few weeks ago with a client, the only thing dissappointing about the meal was the onion rings. Everything else was great, service was spot on and the food was good. Met the Chef and enjoyed my experience

Every Friday night we enjoy a drive down Central from Tramway and find a spot for dinner. We never consider price, just fun. It could be Golden Pride, Thai Vegan or Ranchers, whatever. This time we decided to try the new steakhouse; Kasey's, east of Nob Hill. The food was good but priced too high considering the portions are not overly generous. I ordered the Bison burger because the waiter explained that instead of adding bacon to the burger, they use pork belly. That's all I needed to hear!I was pretty stoked until the burger arrived and the pork belly was literally a 1" x 1/2" portion, it was tiny, why bother. For $15 bucks they should have included a generous cut of their "feature" or just give me a strip of bacon. I would have preferred to spend 5 dollars more for something that was not a burger. My girlfriend ordered the steak salad with blueberry vinaigrette, ($15) it was good, a slightly smaller portion than expected, but certainly not offensive. One other thing: We have noticed that when we try a new or family run restaurant for the first time, the owner(s) or manager comes by the table, welcomes us. It gives the meal some really nice context. It makes us want to go back. At Kasey's, both owners were there and never came by to say hi or let us know that they appreciated us coming in, nor did they inquire about how we learned about them. We thought this was strange considering there were 9 people in a restaurant that seats 90, and they've only been open 3 weeks. I would probably go back again, but it's not high on the list.

Nine of us went on a Friday night when it is very busy. We each ordered something different and everyone said their food was very, very good. I had the coffee rubbed steak salad with grilled romaine and onions. It was very tasty, the meat was tender and cooked perfectly. For dessert I had the chocolate stout cake with ice cream and it was rich, dark chocolate but not sweet. The coffee was served in a mini French press and was excellent. I highly recommend Kasey's and can't wait until summer so we can sit outside and watch the sun set while we eat. Great neighborhood steak house, very family friendly.

One of my new favorite places and worth checking out. Kasey's is bringing some made in house treats to a remote corner of Nob Hill and offering nice patio seating as well. Everything I've tried so far has been very good and the prices are fair, especially during happy hour. Kasey's has done a great job with the staff! These people have made my visits satisfying. They dress like professionals, are conversational, upbeat and have competent knowledge of the menu. Well done The menu has a range of offerings from Steaks to Tacos. The nice plating and attention to the little things is thoughtful and speaks of quality. The recipe they developed for the Pretzels and Beer Cheese is totally addictive. So is the French Onion Dip that accompanies the house made Chips. Now throw in a cold pint and sunlight filtering through the trees on the porch and things are looking up! I think Kasey's is building momentum because of the real efforts to serve us an enjoyable experience. I'd say they are 90% there. Adding more color and personality inside the restaurant would get them the rest of the way. It's got the tablecloths and is very clean and all but also bland in a way that doesn't match up with the food and service. A few tweaks and Kasey's gets the five stars

Great place. We took a group of 6 and ordered a variety of meals. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. We covered the fish of the day, ribeye, chicken breast and the short ribs. Also had an escargot appetizer that was okay. Service was good, the atmosphere fun and funky and overall we had very enjoyable experience. Good NM beer selection on tap and a pretty decent wine menu.

We went to Kaseys for my friends birthday tonight it was wonderful! We tried several appetizers the onion rings and pretzels and then we all had an entrée and they were all really good too I suggest trying it I think you'll love it

One of the first lessons I learned about theatre concerned presentation. Great directors know exactly what I'm talking about. If you have a solid script, let the dialogue do the work and likewise, if the dramatic narrative is obviously lacking, feel free to tart up the stage, give the audience a distraction. Same goes for the restaurant biz. If the plates deliver, keep it minimal, let the food speak for itself. On the other hand, if you're serving up a $10 cut of beef for fifty bones, it should be set upon a bed of roses. Kasey's challenge is the former. The building could house a burrito joint as much as it resembles a steak house, it has that old school Burqueño feel to it. They've done an admirable job slapping lipstick on the pig and the dining room and patio work, but it's still a costume job, good art direction, limited budget. Our waiter virtually nailed his role: endlessly involved, perhaps overbearing, but the kind of guy you'd expect at a steak house, really polished and knowledgeable, while we lounged in our shorts and t-shirts, an open laptop, the opposite of fine diners. Thankfully, this works in the Duke City. For those of you who love getting all gussied up for your big night out, hey, I feel ya, but man do I love the laid-back tone of this town, and Kasey's welcomes this vibe. So what did I have? The flank steak, which is something I cook up religiously at home. Flank steak is comparatively cheap and altogether fabulous; marinate that s*it in soy sauce/rice vinegar/olive oil/garlic/agave nectar for a day or so and you have a soft taco tango, throw some lettuce, chopped mango and cabbage on top. Here, the steak was good and the presentation, with a smattering of fried onion, luxurious mashed potatoes and some shiny fresh veggies, fit the bill. I liked it, didn't love it, but really liked it. My estimation: this is a steak house for the people. Plates average $10-$15, sides are enlightened, the red chile shredded pork egg rolls were rather random and very tasty, huge. They have a solid selection of local beers. If the building could throw on some stilettos they could double the price, but from a personal perspective, I'm not interested. I'm easy, and so is Kasey's.

Well I had the pork chop, with au gratin potatoes in a lite marsalaish sauce with carrots and figs. The chop was moist and very tasty. The sauce a bit to sweet but good. The potatoes could of used a bit more salt or a saltier cheese. Now the salad was OK, the lemon vinaigrette dressing was over poweringly lemon. All in all I really enjoyed it and suggest it highly. Oh you must try their wine yum. My partner had a steak and he loved it. I tasted it and OMG it was do moist delicious.

Had the Croque Madame today early Lunch, it was fantastic! Cooked to perfection, I don't know what all the pissing and moaning is about, people complaining about how this looks and how that should be this way! I have eaten here twice and both time was very impressed with the food and service. The first time I had the Barn Burner Burger and green chile onion rings with a glass of their red wine on tap sounds strange but the wine was good and paired very well with the burger? I am not normally a glass half full guy but if this place is just getting through the rough spots, they will do great when they get the kinks worked out! I'm a fan. One of my new favorites.

Finally tried this place with my dad this week. We had really been looking forward to it for a while, but it was a complete bust! We normally order about a million menu items, but this week we kept it simple. We tried the fish tacos (grilled) with sweet potato fries as the side as well as the steak special, but there wasn't a thing special about it. The waitress, very sweet girl, brought us dinner rolls after we ordered. The crispy bottom of the dinner rolls was the best part of the meal, sadly. Overall, the food was bland, bland, bland. The fish tacos were about the least interesting fish tacos I've ever had, even though they looked colorful and somewhat promising. The sweet potato fries were hot and fresh, but under-cooked and starchy to the teeth. If you're going to mess up sweet potato fries it should be by overcooking them, that way at least you get those nice caramel flavors. These were just inedible and were left on the plate. The steak was just a steak, nothing exciting about it. The cook on it was nice though. It was served over pan fried potatoes and a few leaves of chard which were just sort of thrown together as a stir-fry type thing under the steak. Nothing on this plate had a drop of flavor, not even from salt. I had to use about half of the salt shaker to season the food just to get it down. Oh yeah, and I was starving and I still didn't want to eat this food! This really had not been cooked with any seasoning at all. Really, worst $30 "special" ever. Actually, the steaks come with these choices of seasoned butters, but the special did not. We had to add one of the butters to give our meal a little something. All that was done to prepare the food on this plate was the application of heat-- no love. On the plus side, we did express our dissatisfaction with the meal over all, and the restaurant gave us a free bread pudding! It wasn't bad. Normally I try to give new places a couple of shots, but because everything on our table failed, I don't think I'll be going back. There are too many restaurants in the area.

Outstanding. Who would have thought that escargot would b good in New Mexico? The whole menu was great. We had a big group celebrating a friends birthday. Eight people. No problem. Four separate checks. No problem. Great experience.

So disappointed with this food. I feel like it's an overpriced Denny's. Bland food and poor presentation. I had the chicken fried filet and it was soooo dry the breading was flavorless and hard to bite into, the meat was like beef jerky dry. Will never come back.

Everything was great except the entree. Had the short ribs and the sauce was way too salty. I have great hopes for this place. I'm sure they'll improve!

Good food coupled with most awkward service imaginable. At brunch we were served a wonderful steak medallion Benedict-style. Cooked perfectly and very tasty. This was served by the most aloof waiter I have ever encountered in Albuquerque. Our coffee was served in a poorly maintained French press and was cold and had a lot of grounds in it. When Jamal, our server finally drifted back to our table, and we asked him for hot coffee, we were nearly finished eating by the time he got it back to us. He barely acknowledged us through the meal and never asked how the food was, reached across me several times without even saying "excuse me". I'm certain he will look at me with distain when he sees the 10% tip and not realize it was a comment on his service. When we walked in there were dozens of dead bugs on the walkway right up to the door. No one including the man who I can only presume is the owner made the slightest effort to sweep them up, much less care that they are even there. It is truly a shame that a place serving such good food has such a bad dining experience overall. We won't be back.

This is not your grandmother's steak house. Its a lot less formal and way more relaxed. There are some pros and cons attached to taking a more casual approach to eating good steak. For one, our waiter was....how to say...a character. I arrived early and sat by myself and was immediately introduced to his large personality. He had no problem joking with me which made me a bit uncomfortable at first but, honestly, after my party arrived we really enjoyed it. He cracked us up. Again, no formal settings here (although they do dress in the standard white button-up, black pant attire). The setting is pretty plane. It has carpet, which I always think is a bad idea in a restaurant and not much decor--this could def use some attention. Otherwise, we had a very good meal. Well my fellow diners all enjoyed their steaks (which are very reasonably priced might I add). I was the smart one who ordered fish tacos at a steak house. DON'T DO IT. But def check out this spot with your fam.

We're new residents in the Nob Hill area, but this has been our stomping ground for nearly 10 years. Our old favorites are still great, but they're, well, getting old. We were excited to find Kasey's, and so close to home. We've now been back three times, and we love everything about the place! I'm really not sure what previous diners had to complain about, but I have noticed that everything is better with each subsequent visit. We've tried a lot of items, but the steak is our favorite. Never mind what cut you get, the cooks know how to prepare a slab of beef! There's not much else to say about it. Perfectly seasoned, perfectly prepared. We've also had a taco, a burger and the steak salad. Delicious! The kids menu is also exceptional. The chicken tenders are made with REAL chicken! Amazing, right? The Mac n cheese is creamy and the grilled chicken on top is cooked to moist perfection. The local beer selection is icing on the cake, and the patio, though small, is a nice place to enjoy an evening meal. We'll be back, again and again. Hoping Rebecca is always there, cause she's the best!

Derrick, our waiter was awesome! The mushroom, blue cheese steak special melted in your mouth. The pork tender moist and the coffee rubbed steak salad was tasty, the steak perfect with a surprise of broiled romaine! The Golden Girls Deb, Bella, Michelle and Celia. PS Did we tell you Derrick is awesome?

I am so happy to see this place making a go of it because it's minutes away from my SE Heights house by car. I've eaten here a couple of times, most recently today for Sunday brunch. I ordered the chicken-fried filet mignon with eggs and potatoes; my boyfriend ordered the Stardust: an English muffin topped with filet medallions, mushrooms, and Hollandaise, and eggs and potatoes on the side. The food was very good. I appreciated that the cream gravy that came with my entrée wasn't oversalted. The filet was lost on me because it was chicken-fried; however, since chicken-fried steak is often low-quality and gristly, I was really glad that wasn't the case here! Everything was tasty and filling; the server was friendly; the bathrooms were clean. Some cons: There was a hair in my boyfriend's Hollandaise. When the server brought our tea, she didn't bring the usual array of sweeteners or ask if we wanted half-and-half. The plates really need a little garnish of fruit, like an orange slice, a couple of strawberries, something, to brighten them. I wish they offered some kind of green vegetables on their brunch plates, like spinach, kale, zucchini, etc. I didn't see any of those options on the menu as a side. However, they do have a salad that has bacon in it and is topped with a poached egg. There is something about the decor that's a little sterile. The place needs some color accents. It's too white. (Obviously, that has nothing to do with the food, but I'm hoping the owner will read this.) I like this place and will keep coming back. I hope they'll continue to refine things. It's a promising place. Next time: Patio dining with my dog!

I had a delicious, fresh yellow tail grilled to perfection served atop a savory bbq risotto with a sautéed kale cabbage blend finished with a decadent sarracha aioli! Our waiter Derek was on top of everything and provided excellent service. The Owner, Kasey, came out and spoke with our table to make sure everything was to our liking. Great place to catch a game at their groovy little bar to chow down a quality burger or to have a date night with a selection of artful entrees! Definitely an up and coming new local spot. Check it out!

A fine first impression! Delicious food and a great steakhouse without being overpriced or snooty. We had the egg rolls, French onion soup and flank steak. Everything was fantastic! This is definitely going to become a regular place to go eat, I'm especially excited to try their Sunday brunch. We sat at the bar and had wonderful conversation with Scott & Kasey's husband. I hope to see this place succeed here in Albuquerque! Good job you guys, you made us feel like part of the family during our visit, and we can't wait to come back again.

This places was over rated in recent reviews. For the first time ever, I noticed and was uncomfortable/grossed out with the waiter's hair, skin, wrinkled shirt, etc. His and the other servers' "I don't care" shuffle thru dining room was not pleasant either. My husband was too - this is his first also. Then what steak place can't cook the meat medium rare?!! And have the meat still served hot?!! No baked potatoes. Appearance of my ribeye was nothing special - just a lump of meat on fries. Stout cake DRY. Dull ice cream not worth calories. Not again for us.

A few friends and I had a very nice lunch here last week. Our experience was different from the poor reviews. My takeaways: 1- the location is for those who like to explore our great city. I personally enjoyed trying something different 2 - clean and great natural light 3- the service was good enough 4- creative menu. Not too much but good variety. We had steak salad, hamburger and grilled fish (shrimp) tacos. 5- the presentation was appetizing 6- the food quality was very good. 7- Kacey's success would be beneficial to this neighborhood.

Apparently kinks are being worked out - or I chose a golden moment of the day; 4pm. The eldest daughter (the one who passed the New York Bar Exam on her first attempt - am I allowed to say that here?) and her boyfriend (who, I might add, also passed the NY Bar, first try, jus' sayin') are in town from the District of Columbia where there is a lotta good stuff happening. So I decided to take a risk and introduce them to the new the local Steak Place. One of the best steaks in town is at Slate Street Cafe and I'm certain part of the reason is their beef comes from just the other side of the Sandias/Monzanos. You may assume I was tantalized by the fact that Casey (of Kasey's) gets her beef from Deming. Apparently the meet is cut on site and they grind their own hamburger. No small thing to have ground beef from nice cuts when compared to what happens on the floor of the feedlot/slaughterhouse. I was so impressed I didn't notice whether the kids were or not. While I was working that night and did not drink I noticed Kasey's served wine and I certainly noticed the taps for La Cumbre, Marble and Santa Fe Brewing! The kids enjoyed their brews. There were appetizers, sandwiches, salads and entrés and desserts, so there's that. I was tempted by the Coffee Rubbed Steak (as a friend said, "Coffee and Steak together? FINALLY!") but followed the example of my Lawyer Daughter who chose the lighter Coffee Rubbed Steak Salad, served on a wedge of Romaine, with the caramelized onions, and Blueberry Vinaigrette. I'm drooling on my keyboard at the memory, even though the tomatoes seemed a little chains-store-veggie-plate for my taste (in fairness, this is a tough time to get good tomatoes, and since I usually grow my own my palette is a little spoiled). The steak was so flavorful! I ordered medium rare and the meat was almost red, melt-in-your-mouth tender and delicious! I don't know what part the "Coffee rub" played and I don't really care - I will be back. The escargot we shared was tender and flavorful (although a note to the chef, no such thing as too much garlic) as was the bread it was served on. My daughter's boyfriend was between big meals and chose the shrimp cocktail for his entrés, amid jokes about the perils of choosing fish in the desert. We asked about the "fresh" catch and were told it was flown in several times a week. The young man a) did not remark on his shrimp cocktail but he b) did finish it. We skipped desert, but I'll probably not make that choice next time.

This restaurant seems to be having an identity crisis which is disappointing since it has the potential to be good. The premise of local beef served with local beers is good. The execution is woefully lacking. When the best part of the meal was the couple sitting at the next table over, you know this review isn't going to be overly positive. Let's start with the food. We had the cheese dip and homemade "pretzels" to start. It was above average so we were hopeful. My husband had the NY strip and sadly it was cooked med-well when he had ordered it med-rare. It was delivered without a steak knife so he had to wait to cut into it. After getting the attention of the wait staff for that, it seemed unlikely we'd be able to get their attention to get a properly cooked steak. The vegetable was reported to be over cooked and under seasoned. I ordered the steak salad. It was better than my husbands steak, but that's not saying much. As a former waitress it pains me to say the wait staff was terrible, but it was. They don't know the menu, can't make recommendations because they haven't tried the items, and don't know the daily specials. They're inattentive and don't have leadership in the front of the house. It seems to me that both owners (Gary and Kasey) have no service experience and limited kitchen experience. (I overheard a story about meeting while cooking on a cruise ship?) If the restaurant is still open in June-July we might try it again. I'd like to try the lunch menu. If they fail at being a steak place, I'm hopeful their identity as a place to get a local beer and burger might succeed.

Don't open if you're not ready! Will address in order of occurrence: The bar area: I sat at the bar waiting for my friend. The manager (?) asked if I would like him to move the electronic equipment that was stacked in front of me. Does that question need to be asked? Why is it on the bar at all? Zero interesting art work or otherwise to look at. There is a ton of space behind the bar it makes me feel like I'm in grade school spending time in my friend's half finished basement. The manager started talking to people who already had drinks and so I left for my table without a glass of wine in hand. The dining room: devoid of personality. Hideous maroon carpet. Uneven paper on the tables. All of the silverware and table ware were out on a long buffet which made the room look disorganized and cluttered. The service: OH My God. What's with servers believing that you want to be their friend? Get in, be polite, be communicative and get the order right, and then get out. This isn't dinner theatre I don't want to know that you're having a tonsillectomy next month. My friend ordered the trout and the server brought SHRIMP! His explanation was that they were out of shrimp! Didn't ask if my friend wanted shrimp instead and clearly didn't think that there could be a shellfish allergy. It was like being in a restaurant owned by Vladimir Putin, "you will eat what we give you and you will like it!" The food: pork belly tacos were pretty tasty. The shrimp that no one ordered were so Mediocre and not paired well with mashed potatoes and overlooked green beans. Skip the chips and dip you can get better at Costco. Escargot was ok but no one does it better than petit Louie in Albuquerque. I was psyched to have a place up the street from my house but now I just find myself sad when I drive by.

A friend and I had brunch there Sunday. A very limited brunch menu, although you can order from the lunch menu if you ask. None of the food was particularly distinctive or interesting--really, we thought the food was surprisingly generic. I don't think they even have a beer/wine license yet. If I want brunch at about the same price, there are many great places--Slate Street, Standard Diner, Gold Street, The Range, and others come to mind. I don't think I'll go to Kasey's again.

The pro's; nice, newly remodeled place, lots of natural light. Only drawback, very stark, needs some color, but they weren' finished with the remodel when we were there. Waitress was attentive, and made efforts to take care of us, but that is where every thing went downhill. Placed our orders, and the waitress brought out rolls and butter. The butter was good, but would have worked better with thawed rolls. They were still frozen, even though they had been heated. When they came out again, they were burned due to being put on the grill to heat! My companion ordered the Coffee Rubbed Steak Salad, and when it was brought out the romaine lettuce had been heated on the grill, and was burned completely black on one end. She had asked for the steak to be medium rare, but it came out almost raw. She opted out of eating anything else. My New York 9 oz strip steak was ordered medium rare. When they brought it out, it had a chunk of really hard gristle on one end, and it was almost raw. We just got up and left, too many problems to help us enjoy a meal. They wasted $40 worth of food that wasn't done the way it should have been. We won't be back One star is unusual for me, but this time it is the best I can give.

Had lunch with my wife yesterday. I know you just opened and have lots of kinks to work out. The manager did the right thing and comped the meal, but feel he should have made an effort to come to the table and address the problems- not let an inexperienced young server handle it. The other server was telling the customers at the next table about him and his brother sitting around eating fruit loops in their underwear- we could do without that. We both had roast beef, mine was the dip with stale falling apart white bread and very tough, tasteless, overcooked meat (not much of it). The "jus" was a cup of onion soup- cool not hot. When you slice a sandwich and the bread crumbles there is a problem. My wife's 1/2 roast beef (same as previously mentioned) sandwich and cup of soup was horrible. The manager came to the table and asked what type of cheese she wanted, then didn't bother to put it on the sandwich. The wheat bread was stale and totally fell apart to the point she could not pick it up. BTW- there was more meat on that half sandwich than the whole sandwich. The soup, served in a small cup with the cheese barely melted, was a white blob and the soup was warm and no where near hot. Also she crunched down on a bay leaf which is totally unacceptable, remove from food before service( basic). Also please switch to a proper soup crock for serving. The brown uneven torn paper on the tables with white cloth napkins is a turn off as is the loud country music. Do not say it's made in house if it is not. On the upside my cat & dog loved the meat.

Do not believe all that you read, even on yelp! True enough, Kasey's did have some start up problems, as many do when they first opened. But that's all over now, the eating is great! The meats are fabulous steaks from New Mexican grass fed beef, and are served with your choice of fabulous herbed butters. The chef really doesn't like 'steak sauce,' so don't ask for A-1. Spend the extra money on the larger portion of the Filet, I certainly did not regret that. My friend had the Flank Steak Sandwich, and was delighted. Both cuts were done perfectly per our order. The sides were wonderful, my friend's mac & cheese absolutely perfect. I had brussels sprouts and potatoes, and I only wished for more! The bread was warm and very good, and the wine list more than adequate. Service was great, with a special thanks to Carsen. We ate outside, and really enjoyed it. Prices are quite reasonable. The place does not look all that great, and that's good by me. I'll be fine with not having a line waiting outside, but I won't be surprised that begins to happen.

I have been here a few times so I feel now that I can give a review. First off I have to say that they get major points with me just for going with a different menu than you can find all over nob hill. After all, do we need more pizza joints? That being said I feel that their offerings are sometimes hit and miss. The Pate was very good but some of the other stuff so so. I have had steak here a few times and it was very good but short of great. I had spare ribs that were just ok as well. In short , the food is good and seems to be getting better with time. What I don't like here is the service. Last time I was there the waiter looked like he just woke up in his uniform after a two day drunk. When I got the spare ribs the potatoes it came with were cold. The server slid the rib onto a separate plate which she left at the table and returned the potatoes to the kitchen. By the time the potatoes were returned my ribs were cold and my dinner companion was finished with their meal. This place is so close to my house and I really want to love it but must admit that like is as good as I can do right now. I hope they get a little better attention to detail because I think this place could be great with a bit more effort

My friend and I ate there a week ago, just a few days after they opened. While expecting a few kinks because of that, we were pleasantly surprised to find almost none. We both had steak for dinner, and both agreed it was the best we had had in a very long time. The beef is grass fed and from Deming. The steaks were paired with with delicious mashed potatoes and green beans and white corn, perfectly cooked. Wine on tap, new to me, was actually quite good - a Malbec from Argentina. Servers could use some training on the wine, but it's first days. What a great addition to the neighborhood. I can walk 3 blocks, and will definitely go back. Chef and her husband are sweet and charming.

Wow what a waste of 20 bucks. I order a burger with mayo mustard and ketchup, and a bowl of french onion soup. I get home and I have a over well done bacon cheese burger. No mayo mustard or ketchup. The French onion soup was ok but I had to make it my self. One slice of cheese and a small slice of bread. No lid on the soup. The bread and cheese were wrapped in plastic. Finish the job guys and listen. Worst 20 I have spent in a year.
