Any business can have a bad day, but when you get poor service twice it is the business' standard. The first time my son and I went to JRs the service was slow and they made a mistake on his order. Because the food was okay and out of convenience we gave them a second try. The second time we went to JRs there was only one other table occupied when we got there. Our order was taken in the first few minutes. As we waited about 7 more tables filled. We continued to wait and I noticed 3 other tables and the people who had come in for take out had been served. I told my son we were leaving. Just before we got up to leave a person, not Toefur our waiter, came to our table with an order pad and pen. It's sad enough Toefur could not keep track of the 3 or 4 tables he was waiting on, but it's even more sad that he didn't have the intestinal fortitude to apologize and try to make up for his failure.

The BBQ beans, which were really chili beans were good. The BBQ sauce was good, and that is where the goodness ends. I had chicken and brisket with beans and coleslaw. My idea of coleslaw is not shredded cabbage with nothing else, not even any dressing. My idea of BBQ is not oven baked meat with sauce on it. The meat was not smoked, the brisket was dry, but the chicken was juicy but both meats lacked any seasoning.

Ordered brisket and ribs with corn and coleslaw to go. The ribs were all fat and there was a dead fly in my coleslaw...so disgusting! Never going here again

I did drop in to pick up some chicke I normally get it at golden pride but they wer still cooking ot. So I went down the road to get some chicken. I paid $8.99 for smoked chicken and $1.99 for mac and chees and cole slaw. The side were really small and they didnt have any seasoning. The chicken is more like a rotisserie chicken didnt look good and the taste was really bad. It was highly injected with a smoke marinade and lightly seasoned. I added my own seasoning to help with the flavor. Dont fooled on smoke meats. It was a mistake to eat there nor I will return. I do got to give them a little bit of credit on the nice staff which I gave them a one star. The food I give it a zero star. I did post a picture for you to see it for yourselves. Your better of going to Smith or Churches chicken. Good luck if you do decide to try it.

This place is okay. The server was excellent and very attentive! Our food was alright, good, but not great. BBQ sauce was good. I had the trio, pulled pork, pork ribs and beef brisket. Cooked well. I chose the beans and fries for my side, beans were good, a little spicy which I like! The fries were french fries, I prefer steak fries. So a tad disappointed. I did have a taste of my sister's cole slaw, that was good. I also had a bit of my nephew's mac n cheese, mushy and on the bland side. Sweet tea was soooo refreshing and delicious on a hot day. The peach cobbler was absolutely yummy. The one thing I will boast about, the bathrooms! Super clean, trendy but with a country feel to it! The whole place is nice, country barn feel. I can tell it was a Captain D's before from the outside. Overall, nice place.

This is the second time I have been to this location and it is not anywhere near the caliber of their location on Gibson. The food is just "OK". I stopped with my daughter this past week and the waitress was completely indifferent, even to the point of when we were in the middle of ordering our food, she turned around to watch the next groups of people being seated for about 10 seconds before she returned her attention to us. Food is one component of a good restaurant, however, to me, the customer service is just as important and weighs every heavily in my critiques of places I go to. After two chances, JR's on Juan Tabo will no longer be on my list of places to stop. I can get better service next door at Christie's.

Honestly, the bbq is not the best and the sauce taste like ketchup. The sides are amazing. I have always enjoyed the atmosphere and the service. If you could go to tx and get some better sauce. I bet it could become a great resturaunt and extremely profitable.

The service was quick but the food was terribly. I ordered the beef brisket with BBQ sauce, baked beans and potato salad. Everything tasted like it came out of a can.

Welcome to the neighborhood, JR'S! I enjoyed my fried clams basket with a deliciously tangy cocktail sauce. The tartar sauce seemed a lot like ranch dressing - probably because it was ranch dressing. The fries were good - thick cut and plentiful. My husband tried the two meat combo with brisket and sausage. Both were tasty. He chose fried okra (delish) and mac & cheese (ordinary/bland) as his sides. The complimentary warm, yeasty rolls are a nice touch.

Not good at all bbq, had the loaded baked potato, it tasted like tomato sauce was the bbq sauce, pulled pork was not good in spud. There where workers behind counter arguing

New location but same good food. BBQ sauce is mild. However the meats are great. I had smoked turkey on my salad and my husband had ribs. Very good. Service was prompt and attentive. Pleasant atmosphere.

Very very slow service. Sat for almost 10 min. before waitress came to take our order. Almost 20 min later before we got our food. 5 tables were seated all had their food, so not like it was busy. Food was mediocre at best, the sweet tea was good. The dining room was very smokey, the staff had to open the front door. Unfortunately, we will not be going back.

Food was okay. Very good sauce on the BBQ but nothing else very special. Service and friendliness of staff was great.

Got order to go, ribs and sausage way overcooked! Canned green beans and fries cold and soggy! I will stick to Whole Hog for my BBQ.

Good BBQ in Albuquerque. Ribs fall off of the bone tender, brisket , tender and smokey. Delicious yeast rolls. Good sauce, much better than other bbq joints that have "sause". Great service. All the makings of a nice lunch.

Decided to give this place a try since the last time we stopped by it was rather busy. Tonight with the snowy weather it was much more quiet. There were only 3 other tables when we got there and three when we left, so they were not busy at all. The staff was more concerned about closing early and going home. There were 5 staff members doing "side work" the whole time we sat there. After being seated the server came to our table with a couple of rolls and gave us our menu. It took another 10 minutes for him to come back to take our order. At this time he did not have any other table. We ordered an appetizer and a trio combo and the BBQ basket. Not having to wait that long our meals came out...but no appetizer. The server came to the table and asked how things were and if we needed more BBQ sauce, which was necessary since most of the meat didn't even have sauce on it. Not once did the server notice we didn't get our appetizer. Halfway through the dinner he came back and said "the appetizer didn't come out, but I won't charge you for it". Um no, you weren't going to, but then realized when he brought the appetizer exactly what he meant. The server brought the check, pointed out we were not charged for the appetizer and left the table - it wasn't until I flagged him down that he returned to take our payment. When we did interact with the server he was pleasant. The fact that 5 employees stood less than 5 feet away from our table and service was still bad is not a good sign in my opinion. The food - that's a whole other story. The BBQ is lacking in flavor, tastes like it is from a jar. The meat is not cooked in the sauce, nor does it taste like there is any sauce cooked with the meat. The amount of sauce on the meat is minimal and the portion size for the price is not a good value. Gave them a try, but won't be going back.

The reason I'm giving a 2 star review instead of a 1 star is staff is very good however food is not very good, the green chili chicken cream soup is outright terrible, ribs were undercooked and no flavor and sauce has no flavor coleslaw was really good and fresh but overall not very good the only place worse is rub and wood in Rio Rancho and that place is zero stars, those who gave 4 or 5 stars are either family or smoking dope

New BBQ restaurant close to home.very friendly people.the pork ribs were a little over done and seemed a bit dry inside.but they still had a good taste to them.good prices for the amount of food you get.very clean place with a couple of tv's.even the bathroom sinks are different. I'm sure we will be back.i am very impressed with their customer service.we walked in and we're greeted right away.the people behind the counter helped us with the menu and the young ladies taking care of the tables were attentive and super friendly.

We walked in not knowing what to expect. There was a sign that told us if we were dining in to go to the dining room, but no one was there to seat us. It took the staff a few minutes to realize we didn't know what we were doing. Then a nice young man spoke up and told us to order at the buffet and pay first. I didn't bring cash for a tip so I felt obligated to decide how much tip to give before we were served. That was a little awkward. We got great service from there on out and the staff was very sweet. The food was mediocre. The sausage seemed soggy unfortunately... The rest of the meat was cooked well but just didn't have a bold, rich flavor. The Mac and cheese was very bland. It was creamy so adding some salt helped it out. The rolls were delicious. They were fresh and flaky. The BBQ sauce is good but just didn't give an original flavor that I was looking for. It's sweet with a little spice. I was hoping for some variety in flavors or spice but they only have one sauce to offer. The inside of the building is interesting. I thought they would completely replenish the inside but they left the old tables and covered them with burlap and then plastic over them. The floor is still tile that looks like it's from the 70's. Some new cool BBQ ideas mixed with some old Captain D's remnants. Overall, the service ended up being great and the food good... I'd say average or somewhat mediocre. Very nice folks.
