Very poor service. We were seated 12 minutes before server came to the table for drinks. Stale chips. Watery salsa. Appetizer came with dinner. Server argued that is the way most folks get them. Really ? No drink refills with dinner. Entrees were cold. When we did receive beverage refills, one slid off the tray and splattered on us. No apology from server. Don't bother going to this location.

Just a quick update. We did not like the food we ordered off the menu the other night. If this continues...we won't be going as much.

Very poor service. Had to ask for everything including water refills. Sat at a table in the bar and gave up hope of getting service after ten minutes we gave up hope if getting service and moved to the bar. That service was slow at best.

Stopped in here 3/5 so we could sit on the patio and have an afternoon margarita. The food is what you would expect from a corporate restaurant, meaning you don't go there to eat good food. But we had ok margaritas and great service from a very pleasant young man.

  • Bob G.

The decoration was a little over the top. The service was prompt and attentive, but we were there early in the evening. That may change when they are busy. The chips were obviously home made, or a excellent imitaiton. The servings were large, and very good. I had the tamales, and my wife had the chili Rellano. The margaritas were excellent, not too much tequila. For the price we paid it was well worth the visit.

The service is so painfully slow for such mediocre food!

Such piss-poor service Mediocre food at best You should know better (Why would anyone go to Garduno's?! OK... If you said "for the margaritas", then I'll allow it. But it's CERTAINLY not for the food or the service. This place has generic, boring food. If you were living in Wyoming, the food might be considered OK. But we're in New Mexico, for god's sakes!!! Let me tell you... YOU DESERVE BETTER than Garduno's. You do. Really. Go out, try a new place, and savor the flavors that REAL mexican restaurants can offer.)

Gardunos was once an amazing place to eat - great food, great service and killer atmosphere. Then they sucked and closed all the eateries but 2. Now it looks like they're trying hard to get back on top, returning to what made them popular. Margs were good, nachos were good, service was pretty good. The salsa was flavorful and spicy. That's right, I just gave them a good review ;)

Inside experience and food is so much better than my carry out experiences. My most recent visit to pick up a meal started with an extremely long wait on the phone to carry out, followed by an abrupt "Carry Out" answer. Not a "Hello. How may I help you". She did not take my name or number. When I arrived, I was looked at but not greeted in anyway. Finally, I got my food. When I got home I discovered no sopapilla and my food was cold. The cheese in my cheese enchiladas wasn't even melted but still raw. After paying more for a "better" dinner, I was extremely let down. The poor quality in food has happened to me before with carry out. Sigh.

It was here or Little Anita's. We didn't know if Little Anita's served margaritas, so Gardunos it was. We both ordered the Pollo con Chorizo and my wife ordered a margarita which the waitress said was still on happy hour prices. Two minutes later she came back and said happy hour was over. Bummer. When the chicken arrived it was dry and the chorizo was a bit crispy, like it had been sitting under a heat lamp just a bit too long. The flavor was good though and the service was fast.

Good food. Better than some top rated restaurants. Could use a bit more spice in the food for my taste. I would give it 3-1/2 stars. I had chile rellenos which were pretty good.

Let's just say I don't go here for the food. It's all about the margaritas and chips and salsa! Literally, if I could live off of one thing in life--ok two--this would be my drink/food combo of choice! I've lived in Albuquerque my whole life and eaten at almost every New Mexican restaurant around, and Gardunos has the best salsa (El Pinto comes in close second) in town. Wash it down with any of their large selection of margaritas, and this girl is in heaven. I have to admit, I am almost always too stuffed on chips and salsa by the time my food arrives to eat it hot. I usually eat it for breakfast the next morning--highly recommend! I usually get a carne adovada burrito with christmas (red and green chili) but anything on the menu is probably a safe bet. The combination is simple: chili, cheese, tortillas...how do you go wrong?

Mothers Day lunch after waiting to get sat for 45min only to find a curly blonde hair in my food..gross..will never go there again ever!

My wife and I were in town on business and tried to mix in a little pleasure... This place was recommended to us by someone who used to live in the area. We were not disappointed!!! We were both very happy with our food as well as our quick and friendly service.

  • Katie M.

Horrible slow service. Cold food. Green chili with beef instead of pork. Terrible.

    (1)
  • Ralph V.

What happend to Gardunos? The salsa (red and green) lacked flavor. The food appearance was dismal. So was the taste. I thought the new Gardunos was Over their learning curve.

Apparently my Horni margarita and all other margaritas have a new recipe as of Monday according to the bartender lady working. Change it back district manager! At least the lovely manager lady is replacing it for us after we complained. Change the margarita back!

It has been a really long time since I've been to a Garduno's. I had a ridiculous incident at a different location which has kept me away from the franchise overall. Last night I was convinced otherwise and our visit turned out alright... - waitress was very nice - Cucumber margarita was tasty - food was pretty good - chips, salsa & sopapillas always great! A couple things that weren't my favorite... - our food took a very long time to get out - it was so hot inside that we were sweating by the time we left - the pricing was a little high for "mexican" food The jury is still out on me going back.

  • Kate F.

Serviceable food, sweet and addictive sangria, really nice sopapillas (possibly because they were the first ones I tried on my visit). I probably wouldn't have liked it as much if it hadn't been for a boisterous group of eight and servers who played along and humored us, staying friendly and helpful even as we were there past closing.

We come here three to four times a week. Great bar staff. Kevin, Ian, & Keith always on point. Managers Sam, Kevin & Chris always take a minute to say hi. The best happy hour in town. Free food items & drink specials. Hot chilli! We can't get enough of this place!

  • Amanda S.

I give this place 1 star for its convenient location, 1 star for the atmosphere (which is actually pretty cool) and 1 star for the service. Other than that I wasn't very impressed. The food is pretty overpriced for something that I could have easily made at home. We likely won't be returning.

    (3)
  • Ross S.

Marginal at best would describe this local chain. Food is below average and the kitchen is slow. Service was good and atmosphere is ok. Got tostado sand they were not crunchy.

Great food!!! Great service!!! Defiantly coming back!!! I loved the salsa, it was so hot!! That tomoatio sauce was divinity original!!! Loved it. And the sopas were great

    (4)
  • Joe S.

Worst service in town! food low quality and overpriced! I would rather eat at Taco Bell. At least at Taco Bell you're paying for crap at a crap price. Garduños is overrated. My food was cold lettuce was brown server was extremely slow.

    (1)
  • GD B.

The only reason I don't give it One Star is because the salsa and Marg. were decent. The waitress was totally hung up on needing to see a valid ID before we could order our drinks. I understand rules but some things are just stupid. If you're 50+ years old...really...?! Challenge the status Quo! I asked for extra lemons..Waitress brought extra lemons. I watched her pick them out of the container with her hand while ignoring the tongs sticking out of the container. MANAGER!! I didn't...but really? How lazy and disrespectful. We had the buffet. It was decent but the carne adovada was under cooked/not tender. No flan on the desert table... Pudding, really? Overall, eh...

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant. Food was really good. One thing stood out to us was how good the salsa was. Our sever, Sydney, was very nice and really treated us well. Will be returning!!

Their food is good, good chips & salsa. Everyone is always so friendly when we come and there's never a wait. The margaritas and good and strong. Not very big but still tasty. I've been here about 3 times since we moved to Albuquerque.

Headed out here on Sunday afternoon to grab a few margaritas and an appetizer. It had been a while since my last visit here and it may be a while before I go back again. This visit was three things: expensive, time-consuming, and disappointing. The first bad factor was that the service was excruciatingly slow. Our whole visit (two margaritas and an appetizer) took an hour and a half. The waiter was really slow to wait on us and then took forever to bring our food. He also rarely checked on us. The menu has changed since I was last here and not for the better. Prices have gone up and selection has gone down. I came here wanting one of their huge fishbowl margaritas but they no longer offer them. The food quality was sloppy. The nachos we shared had about 20 chips and a slop pile of beans. Then the worst part about this whole trip was the 30 ticket for two drinks and nachos. Oh and about those margaritas, they were not worth the 9 dollars each. I had the coconut margarita and it had maybe half liquid and the rest cream of coconut. No buzz...bummer. I will say that their chips and salsa is still good. Like a few other ABQ businesses that were featured on BrBa, the fame (and increase in prices) has caused me to dislike this business. Probably won't be back there is better food and margaritas to be had elsewhere at a cheaper price. No bueno.

Suddenly authentic Mexican cuisine became culturally inept. I ordered vegetarian fajitas and got sautéed Italian veggies (squash, carrots, broccoli, tomatoes that seemed to be previously frozen) with all the traditional fixings (sour cream, guac, garnish, etc.). I can just say that it didn't work for me. There was no tradition let alone a hint of what fajitas traditionally taste like. It wasn't just my meal either- my boyfriend ordered a chimi and said that everything tasted like it was out of a can. Anyway... Would recommend to a gringo from out of town, but no one looking for real Mexican or New Mexican food :) the service was great but we went for the food and left disappointed.

Servicer was very kind and attentive. Pink cactus margarita was the the right mix of sweet and tequila. We went about 9:15 on a Saturday and it was very slow. People were setting up for the next day's lunch. Felt more like it was closing time. Overall it wasn't bad just need to go earlier otherwise you feel like they closed already.

WIth only 4 other tables in the restaurant I would have expected a much less wait time. With 3 people at my table, it took an hour and a half to get out of there. It was at lunch, during the week, and completely empty. The blue corn enchiladas (cheese) were great, the beans were amazing. I thought the lunch was great, but my two coworkers who ate tacos said it was pretty abysmal. The wait was too long, and that alone will prevent me from going again.

I like to come here from time to time to get a mexican food fix and occasionally a margarita. Also for happy hour they serve free apps in the bar, but not on cinco de mayo! Huge disappointment and made absolutely no sense to me. My friends and I grabbed a couple of drinks and had some apps of the menu but I could not believe they didn't offer their apps on such a big holiday and considering they are a mexican food restaurant. Other than that i'll come back again but just was not happy at that decision.

Excellent! Great service, great food, and great drinks! The blue corn chicken enchiladas were fresh, hot, and full of flavor. The fresh guacamole made right at our table was the cherry on top!

Gardunos on Coors in Albuquerque is a great place to stop by and dine and wine my wife and I Frequent there every other week, we love happy hour and enjoy their great food and great service as well . Ian the bartender is great and the manager Chris is always attentive to your needs, this is a great place to get your weekend started after a long week of work and just relax you will not be disappointed.

Went here for the first time last night in ages. Was not impressed with the changes. Some of our favorites are no longer on the menu and the prices are higher. Also, no more free sopaipillas (sp). The price of a small bowl of queso is now $8. The queso isn't $8 good. I now understand why Gardunos is having a hard time staying in business.

My seafood enchiladas was delicious. The service is great and the prices are reasonable.

I came to visit my nephew and he took me to this restaurant. I'm usually skeptical of Mexican restaurants in other states as I am from Southern California and we know Mexican food...plus I am Mexican! However I was pleasantly surprised! This place was delicious!! I had the combo with an enchilada and taco. Both were cooked perfectly and very flavorful. The place was very busy but we were seated right away and the service was great. The best part of the meal were the sopillas at the end. They are kind of like a pastry and you put honey on them...yum!! I loved it!

Ok so i've got tasty mexican food in San Francisco's Mission District, and this is more chain than anything BUT Garduno's has two great things going for it: 1. Fantastic (and huge) Margaritas! 2. Sopaipillas (mmm...with honey, tastes just like indian fry bread) I actually looked forward to going here. It's totally tourist food, but i'm a tourist in NM, so i'm down.

Come here one night on a recommendation from a friend. Thoroughly disappointed. Our waiter came up promptly when we were seated, took our drink order, and asked if we needed a minute to decide what we wanted to order. Considering we had essentially just opened the menu, we said yes. 20 minutes later out drinks showed up: a glass of water and an iced tea. The waiter set the down and walked off before we could say we wanted or order- 10 minutes after that he came back. We ordered. Food took a little longer than we would have thought, but not forever. When it came out, though, both our dishes were missing ingredients and/or sides. We asked the waiter to bring us the missing items. He said sure, walked two tables away, and struck up a casual conversation with a guest he assumably knew. We watched him stand and talk for 15 minutes. By the time we actually got the missing items we had almost finished our rather unimpressive meal. The waiters obvious lack of interest in doing his job, combined with our orders missing items and tasting very lack-luster mad this a huge flop in our book. We will never return.

Let's see. The service was slow, if not completely disinterested. The avocados served with one dish were brown, as was the guacamole on the other. Yes, that happens occasionally when you cut your own at home, but you don't serve brown avocado on $14 plates. And the waiter gave an annoyed look when it was sent back. The papitas tasted like they came out of a frozen bag and then microwaved. The corn cake was inedible. "Do you have Dr Pepper" "Yes". Turns out it was Mr. Pibb. This was my worst dining experience in Albuquerque. Terrible and embarrassing.

The food here was so delicious. A friend from California had stopped in once and highly reccomended it. So we went for New Years Eve dinner, and had a fantastic time. Authentic mexican food! I had the taquitos place, with rice, beans, sour cream and it was heavenly. Their margaritas are fantastic. We came with our family, about 15 people, and they were able to accomodate us with great seating so we could all sit together, and converse. It was great, felt like a real family get together. I had no complaints whatsoever. Loved the music in the backround-mariachi. Yummy!

We have eaten here a couple of times and the food is good. We really liked our waiter Christopher. The food has a Tex Mex appeal that works for me. The quacamole had fresh jalapeno that was HOT! I liked it but the fiance didn't care for it. I would recommend it over some nearby places nearby that had better ratings!

  • Ricky M.

I never really cared for this place I think it's over priced, food is made for gringos, and there margaritas are weak. Although I will admit the atmosphere is cool and is a great place to bring some out of towners. Only thing I have enjoyed here is there table side guacamole

Awesome service. The head cook came out from the kitchen just to explain to us their gluten free options. The sopas are a perfect way to end the meal

I visited Albuquerque last week and wanted to go out to eat nearby so I looked in yelp for a suggestion. I was skeptical at first since there was a couple of bad reviews, but I still decided to go. I ordered the shrimp and crab enchiladas which were delicious. A little on the spicy side. I had some sopaipillas with honey which were so good we had to get another round. The service was good. Our waitress was attentive and making sure we had enough chips & salsa plus refilling our drinks. The only reason why I'm giving it a 4/5 is because the person which I was with complained about the chicken fajitas being too salty. Otherwise I would recommend this place if you're nearby.

This local sit-down chain is worth a dependable New-Mexican meal. The food is solid, but not quite spectacular. While they try hard to make the atmosphere fun, it feels like it tries too hard in my book. While I love going for the all-you-can-eat lunch buffet with a group from work, but I'm not gonna head for there on a date with the wife. Still, who's to complain after a fun meal followed up with some yummy sopaipillas?

Worked here during school, worked me to death, my gosh!! And not very good $$$. about that many per shift :-) Clean Kitchen, yummy food. Lot's of tequila, even their own. Crush on the bartender. hey Jorge, what up! Albuquerques own. Awesome fajitas, lunch buffet fajitas made your way, can I say it again awesome.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
