    I love that when I call in food, they have my name and previous orders saved by my phone number...not sure why, but I like it! I usually get the same thing every time, bean and chicharron burrito with green chile, cheese and onions. And I love it everytime! Their tortillas are probably my favorite from a restaurant, they usually.have day after dozens available in the morning. And their motto is by far the best : Help stamp out gringo food. With a picture if a sombrero wearing chile kicking a hot dog.

    I like this location the most! I spent many lunches and dinners here when I worked close by. The staff throughout the years is attentive and quick. The red chile is always tasty, not too spicy but not wimpy either. My favorite here is the carne adovada. The sopapillas are also good. Sweet without any syrup. Prices are good as well. Chips and salsa are the cheapest price here than any other restaurant we go to. The salsa is always good too. The location has a drive thru which has never gotten an order wrong in all the years I have driven thru.

    I used to love this Garcia's I have lived near this location for years and for years it was my go to place for Mexican food. The quality has indeed gone down. I have been overcharged through the drive through and when I ask for a receipt they just give me the order kitchen ticket without any prices. I have gone inside and ordered and had the kid say into his radio, "to make it extra special" which was quite worrying. Wasn't able to eat the food they sold me that time and haven't wanted to go back ever since.

    I concur with Ben S. that there is something quite worrying about this location. My drive-thru experience there was similarly bad. Something just felt wrong and it was hard to put my finger on it until I read other recent reviews and received validation that my gut instinct was right. I incurred over $100 of interior car damage thanks to the shenanigans of the drive-thru employee on 05/31/14. I made several attempts to equitably resolve this issue with corporate, all to no avail. The money was never the issue. It was more their response to a genuine customer incident and their general attitude of "See No Evil, Hear No Evil" when I expressed my concerns about the San Mateo location. I did find the food to taste good, despite the negative experience. But, if management has no intention of even investigating no less resolving the problems customers are witnessing at this location, then maybe best to skip San Mateo and eat elsewhere. I guess this is just a sad commentary on how the Garcia's Kitchen business functions after the death of its patriarch. What a shame.

    I love this restaurant. Have been going for years. I've noticed a serious decline in their food quality over the past few months. And every time I go through the drive through they screw up at least one of my orders. Not great considering the price.

    Ordered enchiladas, nothing more that three tortillas not wrapped, but thrown in a box with green chili much and chicken smothered on to. Food quality and presentation was terrible. Sopa's were overcooked. Will not be going back.

    Excellent food great taste and very fresh ~ delicious tortillas and cookies. . The service is excellent always friendly and polite. If you are looking for a quick meal with quality food, this is your place. Take home a package of fresh tortillas to enjoy ~

    Good ol' Garcia's its not great but its not bad. There service is quick and drive thru is fast. There carne adovada is pretty good along with there menudo. There breakfast burritos are hit and miss sometimes they are amazing other times disgusting. If your looking for quick new mexican food on the go I suggest checking out Little Anita's instead.

    This place is stupid delicious. "Seriously?" on the bad reviews?!?!? I've never experienced anything but deliciousness at Albuquerque's numerous Garcias locations (the one on Central seemingly the best). However, this location has a drive-up for all this amazingness and the carne adovada is as rich and fabulous here as the other. Thank god I know a few foodies who have lived here for years... or else I would take the bad reviews to heart (to other abq yelpers: how the heck does the horrible Le peep on Louisiana get good reviews and not this place?!?!?). Get anything with their carne adovada/Chile/cheese smothered on it. Pancakes are awesome. Have I mentioned the massive cheapness?

    I visited this Garcia's kitchen today for the 1st time. I was craving a breakfast burrito, and thought I would check theirs out. I went through the drive through and the staff are incredibly friendly and super nice. I ordered their standard breakfast burrito and another burrito Relleno. The Relleno burrito was not what I was expecting. I asked for it with beans and chile on the inside. They barely put any chile sauce on the inside, and when I bit into it, it tasted moldy. gross. The chile from the relleno itself was fine, I just think whatever batter they fried it in was disgusting, moldy and soggy. The Breakfast burrito was ok. I wish it had more chile on the inside. The tortillas are nice and thick and warm. Overral I would say I am used to more flavor and chile when I eat burritos. I really wanted to love their breakfast burritos since its so close to my house, but I will continue the search elsewhere.

    They're a little slow sometimes but the food always tastes good. Prices are super reasonable so if you're broke and want a good breakfast burrito cheap this place is for you.

    Garcia's on San Mateo and Candelaria, you have always done me right. I generally get take-out from your incredibly efficient drive-thru at this location, but I have eaten-in here many times, and also your location on 4th Street. You never forget my side of sour cream, and for that I am eternally grateful. Your food tastes like real New Mexican to me; your green is spicy, your sopas are hot and tasty, your servers are friendly and attentive. I'd like to take this opportunity to wish the hateful "Brad S." a none-too-soon Bon Voyage from our unique city. From disparaging great local places like Garcia's, calling our town "dumpy", and just generally shitting on most of the places he visited here, I'd just like to say, I hope you enjoy returning to the class and culture from which you hail. Good riddance, fuckwad.

    While the food at Garcia's has the potential to be decent, i.e., three stars (see my last review), the kitchen practices at this particular location really diminished the quality of my dining experience and I won't be back. The reason? After ordering, I filled my soda, put it down at a nearby table, and went to wash my hands. In this minute and a half, they managed to prepare and serve the three dishes my wife and I had ordered. This might seem like a plus (efficient kitchen, prompt service, etc.), but there is simply no way that in that 90 seconds they were able to actually cook my food to order. And, when I returned to my table, I found that this was exactly the case. My chile rellenos and my wife's enchiladas were lukewarm and soggy with chewy edges, and my burrito was dried out and cold in the middle. To me, these are clear signs that this food was already prepared and either waiting under a heat lamp or nuked in a microwave prior to service. Even when I ordered, things felt amiss. I ordered my rellenos plate Christmas style, then had to explain to the cashier what that meant, then had to tell her that by 'red and green chile' I did not mean I wanted two separate orders of the rellenos plate, and, of course, when my food came out there was only green on it. I'm sorry, but if you work in a New Mexican restaurant in Albuquerque, you should know what Christmas style means. Add to that the bland, washed out flavors, the unusual texture, and the sloppy presentation and you have one unhappy diner. Like I said before, the food can be decent, especially if you avoid the weak green chile, but this particular location takes too many shortcuts in the kitchen. Try another location. Garcia's is a worthwhile stop when the food is fresh.

    Tried to sneak in another meal during halftime of yesterday's game, but after waiting about 12 minutes I had to dart out of the drive-through line and throw some heavy curses at whoever was supposed to be working. It's fast food and I actually missed a good chunk of the 3rd quarter due to these idiots. It all worked out as Rudy's saved the day again, being the only place with decent food in ABQ open past 9pm. Pathetic town.

    Ordered the green chili cheeseburger, chicken sopa, beef sopa, bean burrito, and beef taco. All the food was great. The chili tasted like chili, not hot, but it was tasty. Very satisfied.
