One Word: Delicious! I love watching my family dig into these delicious burgers and sweet concretes. We rarely frequent fast food establishments however Freddy's is one place I do not catagorize as fast food. The burgers are always made fresh and the fries ...hmmmm..what can I say about these starchy little sticks of delight? they are my 2nd fave in the entire country. Running close behind In & Out fries! On a hot summer day the frozen custard is an amazing treat for kiddos & grown-ups alike. Don't forget Freddy sauce with your fries!

We came in for a few cement desserts for some fuel for the day. A cement is a sundae all blended together, and they are DELICIOUS! We've been to Freddy's a few times and have always had a great experience. The steak burgers are squished, squished, squished. Which I don't mind at all. Means they cook quick and preserve juices and flavors. The Chicago dog is absolutely divine and the shoe string fries are great. I would rate 4 stars on food. But giving it 5 based on service and cleanliness. I am always delighted at how gracious and happy the staff are. No matter how busy it is it is always clean. There is also usually a manager on the floor walking around talking with guests. Freddy's is a favorite of ours, and I'm sure it will remain that way.

Great Burger flavor!! Had the California Style... fries and a soda. Burger had the Freddy's secret sauce which was good. I'm a big In-N-Out fan and this was respectable showing but not winning me over. Liked that I could get an ice cream desert by buying at same time with meal, and they held number till I finished the burger. One thing definitely need to work on, too loud and annoying ordering announcement system. I don't care about ear piercing ORDER 110l yelled at the top of their lungs. I'd def go back, and sit outside!

Very similar to In-N-Out Burgers. You can even order your burger "California style". The burgers appear to be large when you see the meat extending over the bun. Don't let that fool you! They smash the burger down to almost paper thin. The best part of the meal, IMO, are the shoestring fries. UNTIL I watched the girl on fry duty climb a step ladder to clean the deep fry vent with fries in the baskets! Say what? Then I watched as she kept the same clear plastic gloves on to...you guessed it...take the fries out of the frier then dump more in. I started looking around at the other employees and almost all of them picked up a wipe rag and proceeded to wipe the counter and the grill area then make or package the food orders all while not changing their gloves. Gross!

This was explained to me as "New Mexico's In-N-Out." There are some similarities, but I think that it's a lot closer to Johnny Rockets than to In-N-Out. In any event, it's a decent place to get a burger and some fries. They have some good desserts too. Locals seem to love the place, so it's kind of hard to get a seat.

Been there a few times, usually pretty good. Have gotten my order wrong a few times but today I was craving some hot tasty chili cheese fries and so thinking how could they possibly mess this up? I headed to Freddy's. Being allergic to onions, I always ALWAYS ask for no onions. So I placed my order and asked for NO ONIONS. The employee read it back to me NO ONIONS. So I got my fries and headed home. Excited to eat some fries when I opened the carton and found ONIONS. Needless to say, I threw it away.

Solid burgers. The Freddy sauce is kind of like thousand island, which is delicious on burgers. The fries sauce is similar to ketchup mixed with ranch, with a tangier taste to it. The burgers themselves are delicious. Thin, but a crispy outside with a nice flavor. They also have really good pickles, which, in my opinion, are NECESSARY to a good burger. The shoestring fries are awesome too. Don't forget to try to custard. It's not to be missed!!

We order the number 5 (double patty melt combo), it was delicious. And was enough food to satisfied my husband and I. The staff was very friendly. Everywhere I look I saw happy faces. Even when a line started to form because they were very busy. We'll defiantly be back when we're in the mood for a great patty melt and fries!

If you have never been to the Chelsea Market you can not miss. Renovation of an industrial building dedicated to organic food shops and specialty fantastic. A breakfast to Amy, with croissants, cup cakes and muffins be cherished

I like everything about this establishment except for the fries. A lot of people rave about them, but I don't. They're too skinny and don't hold in the heat long enough. They just get cold real fast and I always end up with little broken pieces. The burger meat is awesome. It's pounded flat so the edges get nice and crispy. Yum! The concretes and sundaes are wicked too. They need more locations!

Frozen custard and I happen to be biffles. If it were legal I would probably marry frozen custard with strawberries and peanuts, although, it would make for a tricky divorce, eating your spouse and all. Basically, I was pumped for Freddy's. So pumped in fact, I drove there in rush hour traffic, through construction, and after a freaking long day at work (you know what I'm talkin' about? Like when it's been a long day and everything has just gone wrong, and your significant other is grumpy because they haven't slept in 48 hours long kind of day). I just wanted some sweet, sweet, gluttonous relief. I had a steakburger with some of those shoestring fries everyone is freaking out over. Steakburgers are not quarter pounders, they're not fluffy burgers, but they're more like chicken fried steak without the delicious fried coating or the layer of grease(mmm...). My burger was pretty good. Definitely lacking any sort of umph or wow factor, but for a greasy burger joint I'm cool with it. The meat had a fresh flavor and it was juicy and hot. The fries were definitely one of my favorite parts about the meal. You know the crispy ends of french fries that add that extra satisfying crunch? Yeah, you get a whole basket of satisfying crunchiness. They're not as fluffy as normal fries, but they're awesomely fun and delicious to eat. I'm so down with these fries it's not even funny. Freakin' fantastic. Now, the frozen custard I was slightly disappointed with. Mostly, because my loyalties lie with Caliches in Las Cruces. If they were ever to open a Caliches in Albuquerque I'm pretty sure you would find me rolling around town with my face in a tub of it. Anywho, the frozen custard was good, but not great. They had a lot of crazy combinations that sounded incredibly good, although incredibly sweet. I am not a fan of counting calories some of their sweet treats pack over 600 calories (THAT'S A WHOLE MEALS WORTH OF CALORIES! A WHOLE GOD DAMN MEAL!). That being said, I liked Freddy's, it's pretty good. It's not a woohoo moment, it didn't change my life, and I had zero epiphanies while eating there. I will definitely eat at Freddy's again.

Each time I visit here, I like to order the vegetarian burger -- even though I am not a vegetarian, yet one of my daughters is a vegetarian, so I like to support her in her meatless efforts. The veggie burgers are usually tasty with one exception; on my last visit here the cook built my burger with a lot more onions that I would have liked. Perhaps that veggie burger was made for someone who wanted extra onions. Hence, I shall say on future visits, "Please put the onion on the side." in order for me to place the proper amount of onion pieces next to the lettuce or tomatoes rather than on the cheese. When I am in an omnivore mood, I'll ask the employees which is their favorite burger, and so the first recommendation was the bacon & cheese double steakburger. I hardly finished this huge burger even though I was very hungry, and I should have known better to get the recommendation from a teenage boy who naturally eats large amounts of food. I think I'll have to share a burger the next time I'll get the advice from a youngster (or take a bite out of my date's burger because he'll let me sample his). I have yet to try any of their desserts because after every meal I am too full to eat any more food, yet both of my daughters have enjoyed their frozen treat choices. I have to thank the Freddy's manager on my next visit because my younger daughter received a free custard coupon from a Freddy's employee in March. I know she said "Thank you!" when they honored her coupon, but I would like to say it again in person because that really made her day! For now, "THANK YOU, Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers restaurant for making delicious food and for making my children happy!"

I have eaten at their Colorado Springs & Las Vegas locations and cannot wait for the Albuquerque location to open. Their patties are very thin and cooked until they get crispy/crunchy and are very very good. They usually have a special - last time I got to have their bacon & blue cheese and they were generous with the blue cheese crumbles. They offer green chile on their burger (for just 25c) - awesome. As a bonus if you like In-n-Out burger (as I do) then get their California burger as it is pretty similar to In-n-Out's burgers. Last time I had a small vanilla custard with cashews (their concretes are just too big & sweet for me) and it was excellent. You should order your custard with your burger - but then ask for it to be put "on hold" - you pay for it, but they won't make it until you go back up and tell them to (stops it melting whilst you eat your burger). Oh, and they have seasoning, like Red Robin, on the counter when you collect your food - well worth putting on the fries. I did get to their grand opening today and met the founder/owner himself "Freddy" - really great guy & the food was just as good as at their other locations (but we have green chile!) Today I had the usual California burger (which was great), but for dessert I had a mini sundae - vanilla and green chile. It was very good, hot (spice wise), creamy, sweet & cold - very interesting combo. Apparently I was the first to order it, but I would recommend it highly.

I ordered off of the children's menu. This is definitely enough food. The portion was as big as any other. Prices are not terribly inflated, but that doesn't mean you should become a regular here. I could hear my arteries clogging while eating their delicious fries. They slap butter on the bun just to make sure it's as unhealthy as it gets. Pretty much a heart attack on a plate, but so good. We also purchased a custard cake for a party later that evening. Their prices are better than DQ and it was really good. We got the Turtle cake. mmmmmmm

I love their frozen custard. The drive thru takes longer than other places, but it's worth the wait!!

We were in search a burger for dinner and heard good things about this place. I tried the Single Steakburger California style, likening it to the taste of the infamous In-N-Out I so love. The burger was nothing to balk at, very thin, such little substance and a bit of a disappointment. The flavor of the Freddy's sauce was delicious, a bit tangy and excellent with the shoestring fries. The restaurant itself was a bit noisy and chaotic even though it was not peak dinner time. Next time may go back solely for dessert.

The burgers, fries and custard here are consistently on point. Customer service is very friendly as well. Definitely a stop when we are in Abq.

unlike 5 Guys, this place allows the franchisee to put green chile on the menu.....YEEEEEHAW, bring on the heat! other than the cheese, a pretty darn good burger for the price. I try to avoid fries, but when they have "special sauce," yeah, i'm a sucker.....got em, loved em. only black mark is the fact that they'll go so far as to make the patties out of "steak" but still use american (also known as yellow rubbery plastic cheese substitute stuff) "cheese" on your burger. we all know that american is NOT real cheese. I'll happily pay an extra .50c for real cheese, just make sure you put it in BOLD letters on the menu that you use the fake stuff so that I know in advance to ask for the real stuff ;) fake cheese=lose a star, but they still get to pass GO and collect $200, so it's worth a stop when you need a cheap burger that generally passes muster~

First tried Freddy's inFlagstaff, AZ. Me and my husband really enjoyed it. Great burgers and love the yummy skinny/little french fries. The custard is AMAZING. They have so many delicious choices. Give this place a try.

I have to say that I am literally blown away by this place. I was driving through on my way to Texas and have never heard of this place before and now I don't know what I will do without it. Get the double steak burger California style. It Will blow your mind!

I have been here several times for their delicious custard, and decided to try the food today. It was a bit if a line inside but it moved very quickly, and my order was up in 5 minutes or less. I ordered the steak burger California style and it was scrumptious, it far from an ordinary hamburger the meat is creme of the crop and it's just a little crispy yet juicy and the cheese is real cheddar cheese, the fries are to die for. I did add Freddy's seasoning to my fries and dipped them in the Freddy's fry dipping sauce! Yup yummy yummy hearts in my tummy so glad Freddy's us in Albuquerque. Gotta go now, it's custard time. My favorite custard is the Hawaiian but the turtle one is also yummy!

It was okay. Fast food skinny hamburgers, skinny fries and yummy frozen custard. I think next time we will just go for dessert.

  • Ricky M.

Well it seems like everyone likes this place except for me. I mean it was a burger and nothing more. Burger was dry and tough, fries were crispy and hard, fry sauce was just mayo and ketchup mixed. Would I go back? Probably not.... I hate to say it but Dairy Queen has a better burger than this place and I would take a blizzard over a custard but thats just me. If your looking for a better burger check out 5 guys around the block or burger rush up the street.

Just had the pleasure of trying Freddy's for the first time today. I only got one item-- the single patty original steak burger with cheese and all the fixin's-- but boy was it tasty! I can't recall the last time/place that I've had a burger that thin and crispy--the way I like it! The bread was soft and patty was full of flavor. The patty is grilled just so, that there is a thin crispy crust around the edges, that makes for a perfect bite. Any place that serves custard is a winner in my eyes! Reminds me of going back to the Midwest where they have custard places all over. Next time I'll actually have to try the custard! Menu looked pretty good and full of variety. They had anything from hot dogs, Philly steaks and burgers, to grilled chicken sandwiches and veggie burgers. Can't wait to come back.. already craving another burger!

  • Jenn W.

Truthfully, I feel like this place is somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. The hamburgers are tasty but the patties are super thin so when you get the single patty burger it's not enough but 2 patties is too much. The fries are my favorite part - add some fry sauce to that and I'm a happy camper. The ice cream here is not my favorite but when in Rome.... During peak times it gets super busy and it's not pleasant to dine in. The restaurant gets too loud, seating is tight and it's mass chaos. Come at an off-peak time to enjoy your meal without, literally, rubbing elbows with the other patrons.

Freddy's burgers are wonderfully crispy and greasy. The way a burger should be. One of the only places in town to get shoestring fries or custard. It's kind of like a Midwestern in n out. Try the chili (not chile) it's delicious with some cheese and onions!

    (5)
  • Rich R.

The burgers are good, not great but very tasty. I use feel crowded in this place but the ice cream is some of the best I've ever had. It is a frozen custard and delicious.

Burgers and fries are outstanding! (Especially the California burger combo). The fry sauce is great and frozen custard tops everything off nicely. If you are looking for an all around great burger spot than this is it.

Loved it!! We did the drive-thru and got our steakburgers "California Style" (yummy dressing). By the time we got home they were still warm and intact. They are very messy, but delicious!! I LOVE the shoestring fries. Next time we will definitely try the frozen custard.

I was very impressed with the richness and flavor of their custard...I had the chocolate with Snickers pieces and it was so decadent and delicious! It was fast service and finding a seat was pretty easy despite how busy it was.

  • Carrie N.

Hmm. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again, but I wouldn't cry if I ate here again either. Steakburger was interesting. For the bigger eaters out there, get the double as the patty is really thin. The shoestring fries didn't do it for me- next time I would try the onion rings. I'm pretty sure my shoestring loving friends would like them though. Have yet to try their custard. Next time. If its great, Ill update this review.

Love, love, love the steak burgers! The burgers are a bit on the thin side, so I recommend a double or triple, but the taste is outstanding - especially with fry sauce. I get the lettuce wrap, and it's typically put together well. The restaurant is clean, and the staff is friendly. The food is served quickly, and comes out warm.

I saw this building in the background, as I walked into the building next door. Cars were circled around the drive-thru lane, so I thought that I'd give this place a try. I haven't eaten custard, and I thought that this was just another place that served custard flavored foods, but they serve food on the side as well. I ordered their double steakburger, and before I ate it, I didn't think about what a steakburger was. The wait was kind of long and the place was loud, because there were kids yelling in the background and the music was pretty loud as well. They played radio songs and it seemed as though they were drowning out the sound of the fryers with the sound of the radio. They called my number over the PA system and I went to get my food. I looked at the sandwich and thought that it looked weird for a burger. The meat was larger than the bun and it came out of the sides, and it was very thin. It reminded me of eating a sheet of meat. But, it actually wasn't bad a at, it was good. I didn't add any of their sauce or anything really. Just ate it the way they made it. It came with shoestring cut fries and it was a large pile, even though I didn't upgrade any size. It took me a while to finish their mountain of fries. The fries were good, a bit greasy and salty, but nothing to make me forget it. I ate it with their fry sauce, which looked like mayo/ketchup mixed. I didn't finish their sauce as I wasn't really in a hungry mood, just a testing mood. I wanted to see what the line was about. Everyone left with shakes, not including me. Maybe I'll try their shakes next time. I will be back, but not to dine in, as I prefer quiet over loud. I'll eat outside by the road, because the passing cars are quieter =P

I love this place. I've tried the drive-thru and sat in the restaurant, and sampled a hot dog, a burger, and two sundaes. The hot dog bun is fresh and toasted, the double-cheese burger I tried was crisp and tasty, they add seasoning to the meat, and the custard is good, I've only had chocolate, which is very rich, but plan to try the vanilla soon. I hope they open up a place South of Paseo.

Yum! I had a mini shortcake concrete, wish I had gotten a large size! Fries were delicious and they even gave me a side of their "fry sauce".. They have gummy worm pictures on the menu, I dig. You can gett a side for just 60 cents!

Inefficient, slow, overprice for the quality of the product offered. Won't. Was my time or money there again.

  • Gary F.

First time I came here was for lunch with my wife. We both got the burger, fries and drink combo and I added a Turtle Concrete for dessert. Not being familiar with the thinness of the burger patties my wife got a single which was not enough meat to qualify for a burger. I, naturally, went for the double. It was basic but tasty. We both really liked the shoe string fries. The concrete was also very good, so good that the following evening while watching TV I just felt the calling to have another. Long story: So, I jumped in the truck to fulfill my craving. This time I went through the drive thru, which took forever. Once I got to the ordering menu I happily placed my order and was told they ran out of vanilla custard. Once I got over my disappointment I decided to try a chocolate concrete. I chose the Brownie Delight, paid for my order and drove quickly home. When I walked in my wife asked where I was and I showed her my cup of heaven, or least that what I was expecting based on my Turtle Concrete experience. I was completely disappointed to taste what seemed like basic chocolate pudding. When I offered to share a bit with my wife she responded by asking if it was fattening. I really didn't care but being curious I jumped online to check. OH MY GOSH! 1638 calories with 78 grams of fat! I guess I do care.. Needless to say I will stick with Cold Stone when I get my sweet cravings.

  • Keira M.

I can't like it. I again am the outcast. Everyone loves this place but me. OMG! It is so packed and loud and obnoxious. No where to sit and it was pouring rain outside. My burger was dry and the fries were just okay. I love fat fries like Blakes or 5 Guys. It just isn't my kinda place. I understand that the frozen custard rocks, but I do not like any kind of ice cream. So, you may want to listen to some other reviews. They are opening a location on the westside and I am thinking it will be a mad house.

    (2)
  • Jamie R.

If you're a custard fan, it's irrelevant what else is on the menu (other than awesome shoestring fries) because that's all that matters. And this is coming from someone who's tried custard anywhere and everywhere she can find it! You have the choice of vanilla or chocolate, and then a wide variety of mix-ins to equal what's called a "concrete" (my favorite combo is vanilla custard with peanuts and hot fudge). Now add to this the above mentioned shoestring fries and it really can't get any better. Dipping the fries into the concrete is a fab combo of salty and sweet!! The thin steak burger patties aren't my favorite but it doesn't matter because I'm in custard heaven. Also, like any new place in Abq, the parking is horrible, there's usually a line of customers waiting to order, and the process takes a while. But hey, just don't go at rush our lunch/dinner times and you'll be fine!

My review is based on my first time coming here in the drive-thru. I ordered the double steakburger california style because I wanted something that tasted like in-n-out... The burger was pretty tasty though pretty salty to me..i liked the crispy thick raw onion a lot.....i had some issues eating it though. I'm not sure if it was because of the sauce/bun combo but after picking it up once to eat the whole thing like fell apart in my hands it was SOOOoooo messy and hard to eat sliding everywhere..mainly the bottom bun was like broken and sliding with sace....then eventually just breaking in pieces.. maybe they should take some advice from in-n-out and wrap it as they do.. so it is much easier to eat when all that sauce isn't sliding around the buns.... Also in-n-out's buns i think are sturdier to hold up to the ingredients so they don't fall apart. or maybe its like because the special sauce was too much... i dunno... Also i was sad that they didn't give ketchup with the fries in the drive-thru.. i thought it is a given that in most american fast food establishments you just give ketchup when someone orders fries....i never had to ask for it before anywhere or they willl ask you "would you like ketchup"....which they did not here and I assumed there'd be some...but nope. The skinny fries are OK... i think they get cold a lot faster cuz they are so skinny and once they are cold they aren't as good and pretty hard. I do think Ill go back to try one of their ice cream (or custard...) creations... but too many calories to do both the burger and ice cream in one meal!

We finally checked out Freddy's. We were starving, having missed lunch so the food may have tasted even better because of this. My husband had a single and I, the veggie. Both were good burgers. I skipped the Freddy's sauce because apparently it's just another version of thousand island, but the other items that can be added are good. We didn't try the custard because the burgers were sufficient, so we'll have to go back to try it.

  • Retro T.

Ok I am a fan of all types of food. Freddy's was not what I was expecting. Here we go! Walking in I was shocked to see the place was packed! (Good sign?) Not a single table available. I had my two kids with me and was not going to eat in the car. So we placed our order a California style burger and two kids meals one burger and one chicken strips. (California style remind me of In n Out) now the lady taking our order was not rude but not friendly just there. The person you speak with first sets the tone and the tone was eh! lucky for us once our food was called a table opened up. An elderly man was not so lucky, and as I was about to offer him a seat with us he left. Food - 4 Service - 2 I think your employees should help out those looking for a table and please be excited or at least pretend to be! I will be back but will not go out of my way. Enjoy the food but don't expect a fun atmosphere.

Pros: Satisfactory, but greasy steak burgers that one has to apply plenty of flavoring sauce on. Frozen custard is great. Cons: Service is horrible with discourteous, disinterested, unsmiling, no eye-contact high school aged girls taking orders. Extremely noisy inside the restaurant.

I don't really know what the difference is between a hamburger and a steakburger, but it was good. You really do need a double because the patties are so thin, but ends get really crispy and yummy. I ordered a patty melt and surprisingly ate both halves! The fries are super skinny, and might be better served using a fork. Wanted dessert, but didn't want to wait in the long line again, so we will be back. Very friendly & fast people working here.

I was craving a fast food burger. And I don't eat fast food often and usually want it to be awesome when I do splurge on my calories. WELL WORTH IT!!! I got the California style I think. It was so good! And you gotta get fry sauce to dip your fries!!!

    (5)
  • Rick F.

My wife saw the line of cars out the drive through and we had to go in. She loved the Patty Melt and the shoestring fries. I liked the Meatloaf burger that was offered when we tried it. Since then, she dragged me back and I've had the Grilled Chicken and Standard Steakburger w/ Green Chili. It has become my go to place and best of all since I'm in Rio Rancho, a new one is opening at Coralles Rd and 528. Being from Missouri, it is very much like Steak and Shake. The custard shakes are OUTSTANDING.

  • Eric N.

I've eaten here often so I must REALLY like it. Burgers are great and messy, meat is thin so think about how much food you need. If you're not sure about their sauce, don't worry you can try it first. We dip fries in it. Fries are tasty but they are shoestring fries & cool quick. A tip: order UNSALTED! b/c they reeeally salt the heck out of them. We've sent them back, told them about the issue & talked to others who have also. We'll see. I love that my shake doesn't have to be picked up until I leave. I'll suggest you think before you order. Pickles? Green Chile? Etc? They won't suggest anything they just take your order. I did see someone make some green chile cheese fries. Not sure how they got it done, but good thinking. The ones they offer is the Texas style. My draw is the Cali dbl burger, fries, drink & choc. shake waiting. Fish is good also. Bathroom is small but works. Tables can be hard to find but are cleaned quickly. Only issues are that at times things need attn. and the person will be slow to fix. Sodas out, straws out, etc.. Wi-Fi? Yes but it CRAWLS. Go outside & use Lowes next door. Atmosphere is sometimes loud and aims at youth but it's fun. When you go will affect your view of the place. At times it looks like the local high schools are using for student meetings and other times a working crowd is the majority.

TL;DR: Will not be returning as better value/flavor can be found elsewhere. Visited around dinner time for drive-through service, ~6:15p. Understanding this is still a new restaurant for the area, expected a big line. Wasn't bad, just 5 in front to the order menu plus a few more to the window. Still took us the better part of 20 minutes to get from that point until food in hand and driving back home. Horrifically slow. Still... as we left, the line was wrapping around and through the parking lot, easily a dozen or more deep past the menu. Efficiency not one of the strong suits of this place. Well, no manner, figured slower usually means better... Ordered the following: #1 Combo (Double Steakburger), no cheese #3 Combo (Chicago Dog), sub onion rings for fries Chicken Strip Kid Combo Pretty pricey for what we got. I'll go over the main entrees first, then the sides. #1 burger... the meat straight looked weird. We're experienced burger eaters, and this looked different than anything we had seen before, even compared to another steak burger company that is not presently located in the state. The meat was a deep unnatural brown, looking like it had been squished under excessively high pressure and extruded out the sides of a steel press of some sort. The patties were dry as a bone; truly terribly, and I mean /terribly/, overcooked. So far gone that no honest beef flavor remained. Only the toppings gave it anything. As for those... the pickles didn't "pop" flavor-wise though I suppose were sufficiently crunchy. I liked the cut of it though more a "bread & butter" pickle cut than typical hamburger slices. Mustard wasn't excessive in volume, but without other flavors to support it, ended up overriding everything. The combo of the pickle and mustard made the predominant flavor a vinegary mustard salt rush rather than a much-preferred beefy experience enhanced by its accessories. Onions are onions. Bun was passable to good. #2 Chicago Dog... now, admittedly, I spent a year living and eating in Chicagoland. Had more than a few solid, down to earth, no BS Chicago dogs. I might be a little biased here... but here goes: First, the bun... totally inappropriate for it to be crunchy like it was. I know they advertise it as a "butter toasted bun," but really, toasted? Chicago dogs are steamed buns. Also, no poppy seeds. WAY too much relish... and it wasn't the right shade of "nuclear green" either (but it never is outside Chicago it seems). That relish was located smeared HEAVILY in to the bun below the dog. Ended up being the overarching taste to this. Hard to screw up the sport peppers. The rest couldn't be tasted though. Tomatoes were very thin slices, need to be bigger to get the taste through. Would prefer to see a finer cut on the onions, though that is a minor, minor gripe considering the rest of the meal. Could not taste celery salt at all. That stuff is potent enough that even through the relish and everything else, still should have gotten a hint... but nothing. Not even a lingering aftertaste. Just not satisfying to dig in to. Honestly a bit smaller than I had hoped as well. Please would the rich owner of this company fly to Chicago and eat at a dog stand in The Loop, then redo the recipe for this company? Thank you. Next the chicken "tenders"... First off, this was a kid's meal we ordered. Board states for 12 and under. Ours is still in early single digits. Holy CRAP was that a lot of food. 4 full size tenders, and a fry cup the same as a regular adult meal. Can't complain about quantity here, but I would have gladly taken half the food for twice the quality. The chicken was /destroyed./ I mean utterly, fantastically overdone. Pulling it apart to help the kid get some meat, it was a stringy wasteland of moistureless protein that did more to stick to my teeth than stick to my ribs. The apparent technique was to cover up the dryness with a thick batter layer. So thick and crunchy that even if the chicken in contained were in a MUCH better condition than it was, one still wouldn't have tasted meat. I personally like heavy breading, but I still want to taste chicken. The breading was a bit too much for the young one for whom the meal was intended, hence the trying to pull it apart for them. Running out of characters.... Shoestring fries... generic and underwhelming, albeit high volume. Not hot when served. Props for not being salted to hell. Came with some "fry sauce" that I will skip in the future, it lacked any sort of flavor punch. Wasn't bad really, just not worth the extra calories vs regular ketchup. Onion rings... again, generic. I've seen the same style, if not the same exact brand put out in innumerable other joints. Crunchy yes. Onion inside generally overdone and mushy to eat. Service was just god awful slow. They should really look in to a different operation to handle busy traffic. The location just wedges in cars when its packed.

This has become a "go-to" place for us lately.......and we live FAAAAAR away! The custard is unlike anything I've ever had....delicious! I get the Turtle sundae every time. I know what I like. I also always get the double burger California style. I don't know what the sauce is, and I don't normally like sauce on my burgers .....but I like this. I also LOVE the thick slice of onion on the burger! The tea is freshly brewed too! The fries are a bit too thin for my taste, but they're easier to eat using a fork instead of piece by piece. Sometimes the buns fall apart while you're eating which I don't like and the baskets and paper liners are always, always, always covered in grease. But those little things aren't enough to deter us from going back to Freddy's.....simply delicious!

This place is a must go for a Burger and a shake. Steak style patties, thick ice cream like shakes. And they have a whole frozen custard menu for desert if you're actually up for it. I wasn't a fan of the thin cut fries. Small price to pay for that deliciousness!

Great tasting burger! The meat is thin so their double burger is probably what you want to order. The fries are extremely skinny and easy to overcook which I personally don't care for but others may like. The custards are awesome too.

Good burgers and fantastic fries!! So salty and crispy. Burgers are tasty but a bit on the thin side. I would order a double to make up for the thin factor. The all beef hot dog is really good. I had a hot fudge custard, one of the best I've ever had. The custard has a very unique taste to it. Decent service, however they only had one register open and the place was packed. It in a noisy place with everyone having to talk over everyone else talking, but all in all and good place to eat and I will go back soon.

I stopped by for lunch and ordered a single steakburger (California style) but did not realize they are paper thin. Nevertheless, they are tasty. The shoestring fires are very good. The frozen custard is awesome. The line gets long but it does move fast. I recommend coming early say 11:00 am to guarantee a seat inside. Try parking away from the store not around it. The drive-thru gets long and you may have trouble leaving. I would go back again and try the double-steakburger next time.

Good food. Good custard. A bit pricey for what you get, but comparable price wise to competition. Down side was food came out as fast as it went in, if you know what I mean.

Delicious burgers!! Be sure to order the double meat, though, as the patties are thin. The fries were delicious and perfectly cooked. I had the turtle Sunday, which was magnificent and reminded me of custard from the Midwest. Prices are very reasonable. I will definitely return.

Burger was very good, but the large turtle sundae was outstanding. We'll be back!
