High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.

High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. So, skip those items at Applebee's.

Service was fast. I was glad to see they were open late; till midnight. I took the waitress's recommendation and got the shrimp and Parmesan steak. My mashed potatoes were cold but aside from that it tasted great.

I came in for half price appetizers and ordered the trio cause I wanted to try a few different things to see if they were any good. Unfortunately they were only worth the half price they were asking, the hot wings were bland the tacos were ok but the chicken was overpoweringly salty and the quesadilla was kinda gross. And here is the kicker, the "trio" (and the sampler) for some bullshit reason are not half off. WTF!? The only reason I gave it two stars was because the bartender was cool even though the manager was a douche.

Had a nice dinner tonight with my Pop. I had the quesedilla Burger and Chilli cheese fries. Pop had the spinach and berries salad. Full stomachs and no complaints. Staff was friendly, courteous and efficient.

I want you to think twice about ordering the Steak and Shrimp combo here. It is extremely salty. Staff were helpful and nice though.

Wow, I can't remember when I've had such an all-around horrible dining experience. My flight had been cancelled and I was stuck at a little hotel, and the front desk guy suggested Applebee's as a restaurant that the shuttle would drop us off that was open and had a bar. I made friends with two of my fellow passengers and we decided to dine together. We ordered drinks and they wouldn't serve one of the people in our party. The reason? He had a vertical ID card. In Louisiana, they issue horizontal driver's licenses and vertical ID cards for those that don't drive. The manager came over and said he was bound by state law on this, and it was to cut down on DUIs. New Mexico state law actually says that an ID card or driver's license issued by another state is a valid form of identification, regardless if it is vertical or horizontal. Also, how is not accepting an ID going to cut down on DUIs? This would make sense if it was a driver's license, but clearly this guy doesn't drive sober much less drunk. We then ordered appetizers since they were 1/2 off for reverse happy hour. My taste buds still have not forgiven me. We ordered the sliders, steak quesadilla towers, and honey bbq wings. Each one was competing for which would offend my mouth the most. I started out with the quesadilla tower. It was chock full of raw red onions, and some sort of meatish like product, and cheese food product, wrapped in a gummy tortilla. The next thing I tried was the slider. This was covered in raw white onions, which I was fine with scraping off. This left me with a soggy bun and the saltiest piece of dried out ground beef I've ever encountered. I think that tiny little slider had enough sodium to last a month at least. Finally, I tried a wing. It didn't look very appetizing, sulking there in a congealed pool of sauce. It was cold, it was sticky, it was gross. If you love yourself, or even just like yourself a little, don't go here. Even if you hate yourself, don't go here. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. You are better than this and deserve more.

Got a late night dinner order to go here on a event road trip. Menu, prices, and service were on par with what you expect from this chain, but location was cleaner and friendlier than expected. Bf went in and placed order to go, and was invited to sit at the bar and enjoy a beer during the wait, which he did. Order was packed up well with all necessary condiments as well as extra cutlery and napkins. Ordered the fiesta lime chicken and a bacon cheese burger with fries- two of the few items not made in a microwave here. The chicken was great and the burger was just okay- it was actually slightly overlooked, but the bacon was plentiful. The chicken dish though, was flavorful and I would definitely order it again. The accompanying sauce was super tasty and the chicken itself was moist and flavorful, even though the tortilla strips were soggy due to the steam trapped in the to go box.

This Applebee's was a handy choice from my hotel. Ordered the Fiesta Chicken Salad. It was OK and the restaurant was clean. Expectations were no higher, so we're at 3-star rating. Giving this place four stars due to the 5-star incredible service at my table from Joshua. His attention to detail and his great attitude should be an example for anyone in a customer service sort of job.

Half price appetizers equal half sized appetizers. I don't care about the cost, but I will say had I paid full price for the 3oz of queso I received this review would be much worse. I got some dumb ass reasoning that on monday they decreased the portions... not oh I'm sorry sir or can I get you something different ? Just "you're right it's an extremely tiny portion". My friend enjoyed his food so I gave this location an extra star and the bartender Justin wasn't bad.

Picture this, if you will: After a wonderful weekend in New Mexico visiting family and attending an old friend's wedding, your flight home is cancelled. Not delayed, but flat out cancelled. I didn't even realize they could do that, but oh, they can. The airline gives you a voucher for a free night at the Ramada Inn. The Ramada Inn does not have a bar. It has a restaurant. That restaurant is Waffle House. I think there's one truth about that particular chain: NEVER go to a Waffle House that is west of the Mississippi or north of the Mason Dixon Line. I asked the receptionist where I could go to get food and beer, and where does she direct me? Applebee's. The hostess's name is Daisy, and I'm in love with her. Daisy, if you're reading this, I think you're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. And I'm not just saying that because I had an extremely crappy day in the airport. Well, maybe I am, but still, you're pretty fly. Our waiter was a charming gentleman named Aaron who is moving to NY soon to get a graduate degree in forensic linguistics from Hofstra. There are only ten programs in the world that offer this kind of degree, and most of them are in Europe. He explained all of this to us when he brought the check, but I'm getting ahead of myself. He also asked all of us for our IDs after we ordered drinks--this includes three of us who are in our 30s, and one set of parents who are, well, our parents' age. ID'd. Flattering, to say the least. On tap they have Isotopes Slammin' Amber, named for the Albuquerque Isotopes, who are in turn named for the Springfield Isotopes. Yes, that actually happened. The beer is served in a large glass, which is important for forgetting how miserable you are for having to spend the night in the Ramada Inn by the Albuquerque airport. The burger is pretty damn good. The chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream was orgasmic, which was kind of embarrassing for me, since Daisy walked past when I was eating it. Goddammit. Is Applebee's a 5-star restaurant? Maybe not. Did it bring me 5 stars worth of joy on an otherwise very shitty day? Abso-freakin'-lutely. If you're ever stuck overnight at the Ramada Inn near the Albuquerque airport, I highly recommend paying it a visit. Please send my regards to Daisy and tell her I'll be back soon.

Ordered steak and shrimp. Steak was the smallest 9 oz steak I have ever seen ( I did not have a way to measure. They could make an app for that and a way to test yo see of your getting what you pay for at restaurants/ bars) and 1/4 was fat. The steak was over cooked. I ordered rare it was medium. Ordered a well vodka dirty they charged for absolute. Stay away from this applebys

They have OK food and DELICIOUS Mixed Drinks! I would've given this place 5 stars if only they had vegetarian options other than the usual salads and veggie patty replacement for burgers. Moreover the menu was TOO MUCH info to the point that it was overwhelming to read and choose. It was pretty annoying that the waitress kept coming by every 5 minutes to ask when we will be ready to order. Not to mention it was rude of her to ask how we were doing every 5 minutes WHILE we were eating =/.

We've all been there. Out of town, alone, finding dismal dinning options in that small chain hotel your company recommended you stay at, which is miles away from civilization. Sure, you could roll the dice and take a stroll through the surrounding unfamiliar streets, dodge a few gun shots, witness an early evening knife fight, perhaps get introduced to a few local ladies of the night or have Chinese food delivered to your room. (Oh, do we not travel in the same circles?) Then again, there always seems to be an Applebee's close by. Hmm, maybe that's why they call it "Your Neighborhood Grill & Bar," even if it isn't your neighborhood. Every time I've walked into an Applebee's, I get courteous service; a clean-fun place serving fresh eats, cold drinks and friendly banter from the staff. I can't always say Applebee's is my first option when traveling, (or when I'm at home), but when I really think about it, I'm never disappointed, and more often than not, I'm always very pleased. They have a great two-for-$20 menu (not implying you take your new lady of the night there), great lunch combo meals and an array of meals under 550 calories (in case you took a cab the 1/2 block). Their menu offers so many choices; you'll be able to fulfill those crazy traveling hunger pangs, courtesy of (insert any name) airlines. Now, if you do prefer Chinese delivered to your room after a good knife fight, you'll probably want the oriental chicken salad to go.

Food is just ok. Our server Nivia was the worst I've ever seen. We sat around for 15 minutes waiting on her to bring our waters. She didn't bring then out until AFTER our appetizers were out.

Had the 2 for $20. Was very good. Server said margaritas are at happy hour price. When we got the bill drinks were at full price. Server said he forgot the happy hour times. When we got our initial bill the charges were correct ( other than margaritas). When the server returned with our credit card so we could sign it, I noticed there was an additional $11 in charges. After waiting for a while I asked the server why the mistake? He said someone accidentally added other charges to our bill. This took another 10mins to fix. Summary food was good but you need to check the prices and make sure you are being billed correctly. Applebee's isn't watching out if they are over charging you for sure.

As Applebees go this place is ok. Located amongst a number of hotels/motels near the airport, it tends to be very busy. The waiter was attentive and nice, and it was kind of cute to see a gaggle of waitresses enthralled by the London Olympic Games opening ceremonies on this night. I suppose that means some folks were not getting their food on time. The Bourbon Blue Cheese burger can be tasty, but only if you happened to get a bite with the sauce in it.

I was staying at the Hawthorn Suites just down the road and wanted something quick and familiar before passing out after a long day of driving. We were promptly seated with a smile by a lovely hostess and were able to order drinks and appetizers right away. The drinks came and apps came out quickly and we were assured our food would be right out. Fifty minutes later, our waitress said there was a new cook being trained and she couldn't apologize enough. "We are just waiting on the steak," she said. I thought, "Great, that means my chicken dish has been under the heat lamp for 30+ minutes..." Once our food was delivered and I burnt my hands on my plate, my heat lamp suspicions were confirmed. However, the portion was double what I have seen at other Applebees and still tasted pretty good. I wanted to give this place four stars because the customer service was awesome--our waitress was really pretty and her tip reflected her service, not the cook in training's failures. I was just confused as to why they would train someone new on a Friday night during half price appetizer time when the place was absolutely packed?! The parking lot is shared by a hotel so it actually took a good 10 minutes to find a spot after someone left. As far as quality goes, this place was all right. I think the waiting time was a fluke, but still have to rate it based on my little moment in time..

The Pecan encrusted chicken salad with candied pecans, blue cheese crumbles, cranberries, celery, and oranges is what's up at Applebees. Nobody can tell me they don't like Applebees order this salad, don't order something specialized like fish and be all disappointed, this is Applebees, keep it simple stupid. Their tomato soup is good but the chicken tortilla you can skip. It's all good in the neighborhood.

Four Stars for Applebees? Yes, for this particular one! Met at the door by the manager? I like that! Applebees always has somebody meet you at the door but I think it's classy when it's the manager. Much better to be out front watching everything and greeting customers than hiding in the back in the office. Typical Applebees fare. I tried one of their seasonal pastas/chicken/veggies and it was good. A lot of food for $9.99! Almost enough for two. I ate the bar as I was alone on business travel. This particular Applebees is near the airport and numerous local Airport Hotels. The bartneder/waiter was very pleasant and it seems he's been there a while as some locals were in talking to him. I believe this place to be well managed and i will return to dine here again.

What can I say....this is a chain restaurant with chain food. Overall, the food was decent, but nothing to write home about. The service was less than expected and we had to wait for several, several minutes before receiving our drinks. If you are in town and staying at one of the hotels close by, then this place will do, but don't expect more than Applebee's can deliver...you will be disappointed.

Very disappointed in this location. Lettuce in salad would have been thrown at our house. Burger was over seasoned and bun was old and dry. Not sure if the pint glass of beer was a pint. Normally we like Applebee's and have always found the food consistent ...... Maybe they were having an off night.

It is a chain restaurant with a menu designed in a corporate kitchen. It was also the restaurant that was open that served alcohol and was within walking distance of the hotel I stayed at. Arriving at 11:30 PM, there were about 15 people in the restaurant. On entering, I stopped at the sign that said "Please wait to be seated." There was no one behind the bar...and after waiting for about 3 minutes, I saw someone with a nametag come through a door on the left side of the restaurant and behind the bar, cross behind to the right side of the restaurant and engage in conversation with someone else wearing a nametag. I approached and asked if I was to seat myself. Chickie said I was welcome to do so. I sat down at the bar and picked up a menu. The menu touted that appetizers are half-priced late-night. The bartender appeared and checked on the patrons at the bar to see they were good. He came and asked if I was ordering food along with my beverage. When I said I was, he went back to the register and picked up his order pad. I ordered chicken wings and a garden salad along with a Jumping Jesus on a Pogo-stick. The bartender, to his credit, knew how to make the drink. It is 1 shot of Bacardi 151, 1 shot of Rumplemintz, 1/2 shot of Jagermeister and a half-shot of Rose's Lime Juice. I enjoyed the beverage while waiting for food...and got into an interesting conversation with folks who were sitting next to me. I looked at my watch to realize that 15 minutes had passed since I ordered, my drink was nearly empty and there was no food in sight. I asked the bartender about my order and he said he would go check. He returned 2 minutes later with my wings and salad and asked if he could refill my drink. I had a second beverage and ate. The wings...what can you say about wings that are baked and coated in something that a corporate chef considers to be spicy? The 8 wings were respectably sized...not the smallest or largest I ever had. The salad...iceberg lettuce, red cabbage and tomato. The italian dressing was very much Seven Seas, from a bottle, not made fresh. For what was open, it was adequate.

What can I say? It's an Applebee's. Definitely not my first choice, but when you've been road tripping and it's pretty much in the parking lot of your hotel, it becomes a viable option. The food was pretty good. Not great. Actually not oversalted as is most of the food I have had at Applebee's before. I do give them props for their Pomegranate Martinis. WOOOOOOOOOO!!! And our waiter, who is from LA but going to school out there, made sure that I had a martini ready when I was done with one. ;)

I end up here because it is across from a research center that I go to for work occasionally, and it doesn't suck. For a chain, seriously some of the nicest people work here, food isn't horrible and good happy hour prices.

First time I've been to an Applebees. I try to avoid chain food restaurants but this was quick and nearby the ABQ airport. Atmosphere was decent and the food was okay. We ordered the Chinese Chicken Salad, Hamburger with Jalapenos, and the Club Grille Sandwich. The Pomegranate Ice Tea was tart at first sip but with a little sugar, stir of my finger (jk), some Splenda, and it turned out just fine. Although when I requested some hot sauce our waiter took a bit longer than usual ... french fries went cold and stale quickly which told me they were frozen. Fresh fresh fries don't go cold and stale quickly. All in all ... will I be back ... don't think so.

Came in late and sat at the bar. Ordered the chicken won tons and was disappointed. The chicken was mushy and not in the won tons at all. It looked like it was thrown on. The presentation was horrible. They tasted like old food and the seasoning was overly spiced. Too hot for me. I ordered a draft and it came out in a hot glass and tasted flat. The glass was dirty. I didn't drink much. The bartender was friendly but didn't seem to care much. Not worth going back. Where I sat servers clustered around and I was uncomfortable. Left very disappointed.

I got one of the less than 600 calorie dinner meals. It was grilled shrimp and broccoli in a cream sauce on a "bed" of curly pasta. The main reason it was under 600 calories was because it was too terrible to eat! Tiny salty shrimp in over cooked pasta in a flavorless salty sauce with cold wet frozen broccoli . Good thing I ordered the side salad or I would have less hungry. As it was with my 6 oz wine the meal cost over $25. I wish I would have done anything but this.

Nikki the bartender, even on a very busy night, was fantastic. Instantly took me from my stressed out state to relaxed (though the Dos Equis helped too).... She was very nice, happy and attentive. I really dislike chain restaurants and typically avoid them, but everything else was closed early and this Applebee's was in my hotel parking lot. Again, Nikki, thank you.

Andy the bartender was amazing. I got appetizers and beers for a couple nights, and he was so on top of everything! You want another drink? More water? Another napkin? Something to eat? He obliged with inhuman speed. The wonton tacos and boneless chicken wings really hit the spot as a great snack. I only wish they had a local IPA on tap! But the Isotope Amber and Sam Adams seasonal were still good.

Nothing extraordinarily special about this Applebee's, besides the fact that it's close to many hotels, the airport and almost the only option aside from Fudruckers and IHOP in the area. it's a typical chain restaurant that you can count on consistent food for. Our server was great and drinks were good. 2/$20 option is great for sharing. I had the Oriental Chicken Salad and it was huge. My son had the Cajun Shrimp pasta and it was a bit spicy for him. Spinach & Artichoke dip for an appetizer...wasn't the best, but edible. Appetizers could use a revamp, but it is a chain and typical happy hour food. Overall we were happy. Would we come back? Sure. But if you're willing to drive, there are other places in Albuquerque that I'd recommend.

Applebee's is Applebee's no matter what state you are in. The food is okay but not as good as Chili's which is strange as they are basically identical in every other aspect. This location had a good wait staff and the place was clean. Would go back is staying by the Albuquerque airport again.

I came here last night for happy hour. I always come here either after a long day at work or a late night study session with my friends, we love the Applebee's late night happy hour from 9-close. This particular time the waitress was extremely lovely. I believe her name might have been Dora but she was a kind blonde women with glasses and was an amazing waitress and had great suggestions on food. And if she didn't know about a drink or food she would ask someone who did know and I respect and appreciate an honest person. Service was quick and she constantly checked up on us as well. I recommend the pretzels!

My brother, boyfriend and I ate here about a week ago and we got a very rude waitress! She kept skipping us going to other tables we needed refills and we tried getting her attention but didn't work. We went in the bight time so it wasn't even busy. My brother had a few questions about the menu and she grabbed the menu pointed out the answers in a very rude way making him feel dumb for even asking her.. The food was meh..

I have always gotten good service at this Applebee's. On my last visit, I dined alone, since I was just killing time before work. My server was very sweet, did not rush me at all, and brought everything I asked for (ie: extra napkins, bleu cheese, refills) promptly. I'm not so big on the electronic menu, ordering device, game thing they have now.

Walked in to Applebee's. Asked if happy hour was going on still. It was. But when the bill came we did not discount on our drinks. Old Fashioned and Bud light drinks were not included. Only certain margarita and others beers were discounted. Not going again.

Standard chain fare of unexceptional food, complimented by a bar with five mediocre beers on tap. I asked for an IPA and got a can. A can of beer. Their only IPA was in a can. This is all you need to know about Applebee's.

I don't get the appeal of places like Applebee's, although I'm trying to understand. I can see that the food is attractive, tastes relatively good, the service is usually fast, and it's easy to figure out what you want, but ... it is also loaded with calories and tons of salt, has no character or inspiration, is something you could make just as easily at home and pay half as much for ... so what is it? What keeps people coming back? Familiarity? Predictability? I was a hostage in Applebee's, no not literally, to the work lunch crew from my office. They all wanted to go there. I didn't want to go there, but I also didn't want to be left out. I settled on the tomato basil soup and the grilled cheese sandwich (680 calories). It was okay. I could have made it better at home. Everything was just okay. The sweet potato fries (340 calories), the onion soup (370 calories), the clubhouse grill sandwich (1120 calories! OMFG!), it was all just okay. If you made this stuff at home, or went to a more concerned restaurant, you could get the same sort of food, but in a healthier style and at less cost. And it's Applebee's. Let's talk for just a minute. Did you know that at Applebee's almost no cooking is done? Premade food in plastic baggies is heated in microwaves and dumped onto plates (Tracie McMillan, The American Way of Eating; Undercover at Walmart, Applebee's, Farm Fields and the Dinner Table, Scribener, 2012). And what are you getting from your plastic bag? Chicken quesadilla Grande - 1330 calories, 76 grams of fat. Cheeseburger sliders - 1690 calories, 103 grams of fat. Those awesome looking Brew Pub Pretzels and Beer Cheese Dip are only 1160 calories and 55 grams of fat. applebees.com/~/media/do… Yes, you can order some healthier choices, but why even go there in the first place? Once you are sitting there looking at the mouth water photo of the Honey BBQ riblets (1870 calories, 94 grams of fat), your intention of getting the half and a cup is going right out the window. Steer clear of restaurants like this, you know the ones I mean, and you will live a longer, healthier, happy life. Instead, engage the local restaurant owners who source fresh produce from the area. Not only will you be helping out a small business, you'll be doing your body a big favor.

Who knew Applebee's got so expensive!!! The standardized food is expected but the price added up quickly. The service was fast and helpful. It's a quick stop for lunch but maybe not the best option.

Barely decent food. This was one of the only restaurants near my hotel. I ate here for dinner two nights since I was too tired to search out something better and wasn't impressed either time. The first night I had the portabella steak, which was small and had poor excuses for portabella mushrooms. The next night I ordered the steak & riblettes combo. This steak was okay, but the riblettes were full of bone pieces and fat. Yuck! However, I did enjoy the chocolate oreo shooter for dessert. Just enough chocolety goodness at a good price. I have had better experiences at other Applebees, but it's never my my first choice if I have an option.

Be careful. I paid cash as is my habit and the server shortchanged me $20. I will stop short of saying it was intentional but without naming the amount she quickly handed over a $20 bill from her personal pouch. "If it walks like a duck and it quacks like a duck, it is probably a duck." Check your bill closely. BTW I called Applebee's consumer line and they were not available. Not a good sign.

We went to Applebee's a couple of times while in Albuquerque. Their food is tasty and the beer is cold. The service was quick. Several TVs had games on. It was the best we found near the Albuquerque airport.

Sat at the bar for a drink while ordering ToGo & received excellent service from bartender Andy. Food was delicious and packed up with all the cutlery/condiments/napkins necessary.

Awesome prices for some good food, the new sandwiches they have are great, I've had the maple chicken and kickin turkey and they're both awesome.

At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
