I was so conflicted with my experience at Wolfgang's in late July. I shared the porterhouse and I have to say it was one of the best steaks I've ever had. The $99 (for two) bone-in cut was cooked to perfection, bathed in clarified butter. The filet was as tender as can be and the strip was as flavorful as can be. I have to say it was well worth it and comparable to any prime steakhouse offering I've been to. Aside from the steak, everything was ho-hum. Sides were mediocre at best and terribly overpriced. I honestly don't know if the same prices are charged in Somerville as they are in Manhattan, but sides were nowhere near as good as local places like Steakhouse 85 or even Char & Ruth's Chris. Same goes for appetizers and salads. Service (6:30PM on Saturday) was barely efficient suffered from poor communication between what seemed like the head waiter and the other servers (he barked orders at everyone while he waited on one table). Had to wait a while for water refills, etc. The restaurant itself is beautiful and elevates the standard in the Somerville area. My only gripe is they overwaxed the Brazilian hardwood floors to a point where you could see the residual white swirls which made walking across it akin to crossing an iceskating rink on stilts. Was it horrible? Absolutely not! Was it worth it? Meh. I'd rather go to Steakhouse 85 anytime.

Steaks are fried in burnt butter, seared on the outside but raw/cold in the center. The flavor was lacking besides the fried burnt butter taste. Wife found a live fly in her draft beer, yuck! Onion rings were cold and not very good, the baked potato was good but for $8.00 it dam well better be. The prices were absurd for the quality of food. Service was ok and the place was nice inside however a $100 porterhouse needs to be unbelievably good and it was not, I can cook a better tasting steak at home. We won't be returning and in the long run I doubt this steakhouse will last.

We were so excited to come here. Often when I read reviews that are one star, I paint a picture in my head of what must surely be an overly critical and nit picky reviewer. Surely very few restaurants are worthy of one star, especially a fine dining establishment sure as Wolfgang's! But Wolfgang's, I'm afraid to admit, is worthy of nothing but. The service was about the worst I had ever experienced. Rude, absent, aloof, jerk would all be words that would describe our waitstaff. The bread was cold and the likes you would get from a pizzeria. The food lacked seasoning. I ordered fish and when it took 30 minutes to come out after our appetizers, the waiter bluntly said "sole takes a while to cook, seven more minutes". What, fish takes ~35 minutes to cook? It was not as if te restaurant was packed either, we were in a sea of empty tables on a Friday night. When the food did arrive, it was bland as can be unfortunately. When the bill arrived, my Dover sole was $5 more expensive than was quoted to me prior to ordering and our seafood tower was $2 cheaper! I guess the waiter was just making numbers up. Needless to say, we will stick with Char or other similar steakhouses in the area.

I will not be returning. The appetizers are focused on seafood. There could be a greater selection. There are soups and salads but really no recommendations or guidance provided. We ordered the Ahi Tuna which was decent, a crab cake which was tasty but the clams were not what we were expecting; you get a better and tastier clam at the Jersey Shore at any of less classier places. The staff is friendly but the server did not provide any additional suggestions for sides. Therefore, you order your entrees and the steaks pretty much comes by itself. Although, this is not different than most steakhouses but I am sure most people like to have an additional portion of accompanying foods. We did order mash potatoes but the portion was small compared to other steakhouses and the taste was average. The porterhouse was very similar to the portion of sirloin and the taste was bland. It appears that they took out a portion of meat from a freezer and then sizzled it. For the price listed, one would expect nothing but the best. Unfortunately, that is not the case. The Baby Back ribs are a better option. For a much better steak experience and similar pricing, you are better off at Ruth's Chris in Princeton and for the Manhattan prices I won't even mention all of the options in the city where you would have a much better experience for the same amount of money. Sorry guys but I will not be returning for your steaks.

Came here with 3 and ended up dropping over $300 with tip without any dessert leaving feeling ripped. The steaks were good give them that. Everything else needs work. The servers messes up more than 2 times for. Bringing us wrong items, telling us they were out of soup but really weren't etc. Things that shouldn't happen when spending $300 on only 3 people. Speaking of which, they are priced like you are eating at the midtown location. Overpriced for location. The sides we got were German potatoes and lobster mac and cheese which left much to be desired. The potatoes were more like hash browns and the lobster mac and cheese needed more cheese and actually putting lobster in the lobster mac and cheese would be useful. I'm not sure if I would return.

First off can I give this place zero stars because it doesn't even deserve 1! I did read all the bad reviews prior coming to this place but I thought that there was so bad reviews because maybe people thought it was too expensive. For me I don't mind spending money on great food so I was going to check this place out. So sorry I did! I never write a review without visiting an establishment at least twice. So on my first visit I had the chilled seafood tower for 2 which for an appetizer which was good the rib eye steak for dinner which was awful! It was overloaded with fat! Not tender! Plain out gross! Then my companion had the filet mignon which was also said not to be good at all and not tender! For desserts we had the cheesecake which was one of the best cheesecakes I ever had and the ice cream sundae which was awful! Cheap tasting ice cream with ice cube chips! Not a steakhouse quality ice cream. On the second visit I ordered the same chilled seafood tower this time it was just ok not as fresh but decent then me any my companion shares the porterhouse steak for 2. Just when you think steak can get any worse it did! This steak was even worse then my first visit! It had no seasoning whatsoever! It was NOT tender! There is NO way this can possibly be prime meat! It had no taste, it was dry, and quality was bad. For sides we had the cream spinach which was disgusting! It was swamped in butter! The asparagus was not good quality and that had no taste as well! For dessert I played it safe with the amazing cheesecake and again that's the ONLY thing worth coming for! My companion had the mousse cake with a scoop of ice cream the mousse cake was just ok but the ice cream had ice chips in it again! Horrible ice cream! I will NO longer ever come here again. Again prices don't matter to me just give me some good food! Btw the people next to us were also complaining about their food and sent theirs back! This is the worst place I ever ate at in my life! If you want good steak go to Ruth Chris in Princeton or Flemings in Edgewater. Save yourself the trip this place is horrible!

Ok so came here for valentines weekend. Overall a decent experience. Food ordered: Apps: Bacon, ahi tuna tartare, Entrees: Lamb Chops, Ribeye Pros: the place is new so its clean and neat/well kept. the place had an ambiance where I forgot I was in the suburbs and thought I was at Delmonicos in the city. Our apps were good not great. The steak and lamb though were really good and on par with steakhouses in the city Cons: the only con was the service. Our server didn't seem very enthusiastic. Granted it was a busy weekend but he just didn't seem that he wanted to be there. He also did not ask us for dessert and just gave us the bill which led me to believe he didn't care and just wanted to turnover the table. Good thing we were planning to get dessert somewhere else anyway. Overall a good option for a special occasion spot as it is pricey.

Went to lunch here. It was delicious. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. Every time my water glass was even just half full someone would come over and pour more in. It is very pricey, but you have to expect that going here, it's a Wolfgang Steakhouse. I got the Lobster Salad and it was about $25. It was delicious, I've never had Lobster that tasted that fresh to be honest. I got the Creme Brulé for dessert, it was delicious. Very warm in the center and the top of it was perfectly browned. I will definitely be returning here, it's worth the money if you want a very high quality meal in a very high quality atmosphere. I didn't feel overly full like I was gonna explode after eating here like I just had a Caesar salad or burger at Applebees, I just felt full and satisfied, that's how you know you had a good high quality meal.

First, the GOOD. The absolute best French Onion Soup I've ever had! The rib eye steak was also mouth-watering delicious. The decor reminded me of the finest restaurant in Kansas City. Now the BAD. Each 3-course (ala carte) meal costs $80. Yes, $80. That's without an appetizer or dessert or coffee, or a drink or a tip. Our final tab per person was $125. Now the UGLY. The steak filled the entire dinner plate! Unless you are used to eating this much meat in one meal, it might make you lose your appetite. It did for me. I was overwhelmed by the size of the meat. It made me full just looking at it and smelling it. I wound up eating one quarter of my $125 meal. Would I go back? Probably not. If I knew I could split a meal with 2-3 people, then yes, I would go back for that French Onion Soup.

People....come on. What is with all the negative reviews? This is the first real NYC style steakhouse in this part of NJ with true dry aged steaks. It is great. Just get the Porterhouse for two or more. You will not regret it. I just went there with a client. Was it expensive? Yes. This is not an every night kind of place unless you are loaded. Oysters were great, thick cut bacon - amazing. Also got the asparagus and the onion rings. If I had to knock one thing the onion rings are not the thick cut type like the 34th st location and I would steer clear of them next time. They seemed like they were frozen and just dumped into the fryer. Everything else more than made up for it though. People of Somerville and the surrounding areas, if you don't like this place you must not be familiar with the NYC steakhouse scene. You do not know what you have. It cracks me up that some people are complaining about the veggies or lack thereof....this is a Steakhouse!

Myself and two friends were in Bridgewater and came across this place and decided to go have a few nice steaks. WHY NOT!! I started with the crabcake app. WAY overpriced at $20. They put 2 pieces of jumbo lump in there to fool the undiscerning eye. It tasted of mostly filler (aka bread crumbs.) I feel we were judged by the minute we walked in the door. Since we didn't plan on stopping in, my friends were dressed down in some regular street clothes. That right there is bad business. Never assume the customer is cheap, broke, ghetto, beneath you, etc. Our money is green (or blue) like everyone elses. You should treat every guest in your establishment with the same courtesy and manners. There was only one other table in the whole place and i'm sure the waiters weren't calling them "bro." I feel we were served subpar steaks for this reason. At $52, i expect a superb rib eye. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but not 52 dollars good. I could have easily gone to another place and got the same steak for $40. Lobster mac and cheese tasted like Kraft with lobster. Best thing we had that day was the IPA on draft. Next time treat customers like they are paying your rent, because they are. $300 for lunch on a Monday is nothing light. We still tipped 18%, but they would've got 25% if the service were not as mediocre as the crab cake and mac and cheese. Maybe it was an "off day". ENJOY????

I really don't understand how anyone could say this place is great. Sure, the décor was great, it looked very pleasing to the eye upon arrival and we were promptly seated but honestly that is about it. After we were seated, this is where it all started to go downhill. First, we were asked by 4 different people if we wanted water, my diet coke was a very small 8oz bottle of diet coke, one small sip and the whole bottle was gone. Now is when the real fun begins, we ordered the Canadian bacon appetizer and one of the salads, which came out fairly promptly. The Canadian Bacon appetizer was more of a well done ham steak and really wasn't that good in my opinion. About this time my wife & I were waiting for our main course to arrive when the bar started blasting dance music and it was so loud my wife and I could not enjoy each others company. My wife ordered the 8oz filet cooked medium well, it came out blood red (more of a medium rare), I ordered the NY Strip Medium which came out about the same. My wife had to send her steak back to be cooked a bit more and when it came out the texture and taste was like they microwaved it. My steak on the other hand (while undercooked) really didn't have the flavor of a $60 steak, I expected much more. The highlight of the evening was actually the sides, we really enjoyed the German potatoes. The crunch the potatoes had was well done and some of the better potatoes I had, but this didn't justify the quality of the rest of the food... For desert I ordered the Pecan pie and my wife ordered the Crème Brule. After about 25 minutes (the waiter forgot about us, and I know this because he looked at me as he was walking back, pointed and hurryingly scurried back to the kitchen to find our lost desert), the $11 desert came and I had maybe a 2.5 inch wide slide of pecan pie with a pile of whipped cream that was probably 4" long by 3" wide by 4" tall.. this made the whipped cream look like the desert vs. a garnish. My wife said she has had better Crème Brule before and really was nothing special about it so we paid our $200 bill and on we went... Overall we will not be back, we've had better steak's in the area and for the price you can easily find something better elsewhere....

Overall, this is a very good steak house restaurant on the same level as Char and Roots. Everything is alacart and priced the way you expect, ie steaks $50,sides @ $10, salad $12 etc. our meal consisted of the porterhouse for 2 which looked medium rare, but was ordered medium. The plate came so hot that we actually cooked the meat on the plate. We also ordered the onion soup, which was good but needed more cheese and was small for the $9 price. We had Caesar salad which was a bit bland but was large enough to share. Also shared the cottage potatoes which was a huge portion, but a little too crispy. Service was good. Waiter answered all our questions. So all said and done, including the tip (no drinks), bill came to $160, which is what we expected. We would go back.

I have never experienced worse service at a restaurant that serves $52 steaks. A wedge salad consisted of a quarter of a head of iceberg and a slice of tomato. Small bowl of blue cheese smear on the side. No trays for serving drinks just scooped in the crook of an arm. Food served by scraping onto plates mostly missing said plates. $25 corkage fee (local standard is $8) and ruined a $400 bottle of wine by 'decanting' it as if it was a bottle of 7up. A crumber doesn't work on a pile of spinach left by your busboy. It just makes it worse. For a restauranteur with 4 locations in NY, 2 in Tokyo, Miami and Beverly Hills you should spend more time training the staff. No I won't call back in 15 minutes because you're too busy to answer 2 simple questions. I can't believe those 'bigger' locations put up with this kind of substandard wait staff. And a manager that doesn't know how to handle the problem(s). It's like you kicked a mystery shopper in the teeth.

I went to try this new restaurant called Wolfgangs steakhouse. It was pretty full. They tried to push me to the bar because I was single. I decided I would leave. I came back for the 2nd time a few weeks later. I was greeted and again pushed to the bar. I insisted on a table. They reluctantly granted me a table. Menu prices are steep. The waiter did not know much about menu. I just ordered 1/2 rack baby back ribs, lobster mac and cheese and little neck clams. He asked me how I wanted my clams. I said steamed. He asked how I wanted my ribs and I said Med Well. So far I am not overly impressed. I heard Happy Birthday in the bar. Could this just be an overpriced Chili's? The atmosphere is very loud. Not what you think a fine dining experience should be. My little necks are anything but. They look like regular sized clams. I managed to find a few that were actually little necks. The ones I could find were cooked to perfection and sauce was good. Presentation was ok. Table full of bread crumbs. They kept up with taking my dishes, but never really cleaned my area during the meal Zero flavor in the lobster mac and cheese. Ribs fell off bone, but no char flavor. Was not what I was expecting for steakhouse. The ribs on the menu show 1/2 rack of ribs for the appetizer and 1/2 rack of ribs for the dinner portion. Both differ in price. I was charged for the dinner portion. I only received a 1/2 rack. I asked the waiter what the different was and he said a smaller portion. I went up to the hostess and come to find out that I was supposed to get a full rack and there is a typo in the menu. They did adjust my bill. This has been the worst dining experience in Somerville NJ by far. I do not recommend right now until they figure out how to add flavor to the meals. Also they need to create a better atmosphere and learn their menu. A check for 1 is just as important as a check for 2.

Since moving from California two years ago, I can count on one hand how many good meals I've had in New Jersey. The food in this state is positively dreadful (good for the diet I suppose). Wolfgang's was the surprising exception. This is a steak house so the emphasis is therefore on meat. That said, the chopped salad is a new favorite that I will order for take-out for a quick dinner. The steak is aged and was cooked perfectly. For being New Jersey (where false airs are de rigueur) I thought the service was just right. The food is simple, not overwrought. The wine list is thoughtful if not a bit young but with some hidden gems. And for those with Celiac disease, I can personally attest to the fact that this place is safe for people with gluten allergy (which cannot be said of anywhere else in Somerville with the noted exception of the excellent turkey chili at the Dragonfly Cafe on Main). And yes, the tab is going to be a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.

A most unfortunate experience. This is not up to par for the Wolfgang reputation. It is an embarrassment to the name. We will not be back. My husband and I are/were big fans of Wolfgang's. We love the NYC locations, Park Ave and Tribeca. Somerville was a huge disappointment. We went on a Saturday evening and sat outside on the patio. The servers truly did try their best, but were clearly inexperienced. The steaks were prepared the way we ordered them. The side dishes were just ok. The wedge salads were terrible. I could have made allowances for all of this, because after all, it is not NYC and we used to love Wolfgang's. At the end of the evening we went to pay our bill using our credit card and a Wolfgang's gift card. The gift card was for $250. We were immediately informed that they do not accept Wolfgang's gift cards. This, despite the fact that Wolfgang himself came to our table earlier and shook our hands. We've met him on several occasions before at the NYC locations. So how could this be? Rather than argue, we put the entire bill on our credit card. In compensation they offered us complimentary after dinner drinks which we declined. It would have been much smarter of them to offer us a gift certificate ( maybe $50- didn't need to be much)for a follow up visit- that might have encouraged us to try this location again. If you want to stay in suburban NJ and have a great steak dinner go to Roots in Summit or Morristown or if in the Somerville area go to Char Steakhouse. Sorry Wolfgang's I wanted to love you, but there are better places to go for steak right in your backyard.

Ambiance- wonderful Wait staff - Inattentive for a restaurant with such a fine reputation. We waited 30 minutes between placing our order and having our salad served. Wine- $$$$ for the value Food - Caesar Salad- bland, petite filet grisly, manager came over and agreed it was a bad piece of meat. My question is," why didn't the chef see that before he plated it?" The manager removed the charge for my filet, however at that point I did not want another. Side dishes - nothing to write home about. We waited 30 minutes before the waiter brought our check once we said we were finished. We will not return.

First class all the way. From entering the restaurant to the end of the meal, perfect. Just bring the check book as it is very expensive.

The food was absolutely outstanding. Dry aged steaks were some of the best we've ever had. The service was outstanding as well, multiple waiters coming continuously to fill water, check the wine, make sure the food was good. All of the staff was very knowledgable and helped make choices with us. The only thing that made them fall short of the 5 stars was when the maitre'd came over toward the end of the meal and asked us if we could leave since he wanted to turn the table over. At a normal restaurant this wouldn't be the end of the world, but having spent a little over $200/person for 6 people you'd think we could stay as long as we wanted. He came over and apologized a short time later, but still left a somewhat bitter taste.

For the prices charged at Wolfgang's Steakhouse in Somerville, you'd expect the best steak of your life. The Porterhouse for 2 ($49.95 per person) was a tasteless piece of meat. The sauteed spinach was also tasteless (completely unseasoned) and the mashed potatos tasted like the ones you buy at the store and microwave. Obviously I am not alone with these sentiments as the restaurant was only at 30% capacity on a Wednesday night. Char Steakhouse was packed when I drove past. For a truly good steak at an incredible price, I recommend the Hereford at Thirsty's. You won't be disappointed.

Loud, loud, loud. The bar is crazy with noise. It detracts from the dark wood interior, great bartenders, upscale setting and enticing environment. I don't know if I will revisit this bar. I can't hear myself typing. Yikes.

The food was good, but very expensive for what you get. Portion sizes were large. Service was terrible. It was never clear who our server was and each waiter was very lax and informal. For the amount of money you spend here, I would expect the service to be better. The space felt very cramped and the waiters were constantly bumping into diners. Not impressed by the Wolfgang salad either. Basically raw veggies on top of a lettuce wedge with some bacon and shrimp. We waited a very long time to get the bill and when it arrived it was for another table. They also sent us home with the wrong doggy bags. Not a great experience at all. I doubt I'll give this one a second chance.

We celebrated a friends birthday here last weekend. Was very impressed they were able to accommodate a large group on a short notice considering it was a Sat night and the place was packed. As far as the food, the porterhouse was exceptional. The lobster mac n cheese and spinach and the other sides were a disappointment. It was ok. Drinks and wine were NYC prices so do expect that when you go to a place like this. Overall, service was great and the place is very lively.

Went there with my other half on an evening with lousy weather, a few days after its official opening; I was curious what this NYC offshoot would look and feel like. The atmosphere is what you'd expect at a steakhouse: all dark wood, alabaster lamps, tables with gleaming white tablecloths and silverware, waiters impeccably attired in long aprons and an imposing bar. Very stately, elegant and a bit dated at the same time. The restaurant is still very new, so the bar menu wasn't in place yet and there were slight kinks in the way guests are welcomed and seated - the young lady who ran the coatcheck also seated guests, so that entailed a fair amount of her not being in either spot. Table service was spot on, professional, polished and nicely paced. The menu is also typical steakhouse, with a number of seafood and non-meat options, all quite expensive. The wine list had only bottles, the wines by the glass were decent, but simply overpriced. We both started with the Manhattan clam chowder which arrived with an artfully arranged basket of crackers, Tabasco and freshly grated horseradish. It was smooth, with big chunks of vegetables and a nice buttery finish, but it wasn't very hot, much closer to lukewarm and with few recognizable pieces of clam. More disappointing were the crackers: Nabisco diner packets?!?! What about oyster crackers offered table-side by the waitstaff? Or even in individual packets, but oyster crackers. I ordered the ahi tuna tartare appetizer as my dinner, while hubby decided to skip steak and have the jumbo shrimp scampi, along with a side of asparagus (nicely peeled, roasted and dressed in just the right amount of oil and balsamic). Everything came out at the same time, beautifully presented and we dug in. The shrimp and asparagus were very good, as was the tuna tartare, accompanied by avocado, cucumber, baby arugula salad and crostini. Yet again, there were small things which could have made all these superb, not just very good. The shrimp were swimming in grease, the cucumber and arugula were drowning in dressing, the crostini were toasted (make that almost burned) only on one side and too thin to stay crunchy, and there wasn't a sliver of lemon or lime anywhere near to really bring out the freshness of the tuna. This appetizer billed dish will satisfy all but the hungriest of diners. We ordered a dish of sorbet to share and expresso/cappuccino. The sorbet came in a bowl, but with two plates for us to use! Bowls would have made more sense. And the coffees, while strong and good, could have used a biscotti or two to dip and savor. They're not on the menu either, perhaps they will appear one day. My main question is why in this day and age we still need huge slabs of meat on plates, when smaller portions would be better and those 16-, 24- and 48-ouncers could be specials. We are hoping that with time, this special-occasion establishment will iron out the little issues.

Service was excellent even though the restaurant was fairly busy. It was almost like they had ESP they would show up just as you needed them. The ambiance in the dinning area is great and beautifully done. We had Little Neck clams as one of our appetizer, and they where very very fresh. The steaks are typical of a steak house like Peter Lugars. They depend to much on the aging of the meat for flavor, and use very little seasoning if any. They should definitely pair with a house steak sauce. They cuts where superb, and I somehow had room for desert. Overall I would say that it's well worth coming here if your willing to spend the $$$$.

Went this evening, Wednesday at 7pm and the main dining area was packed, though this is no surprise since it just opened. Waiter came right over and got our drink order. The bar tender gave a nice heavy pour. Started off with a slice of the bacon which was amazing. My wife had the onion soup which she said was good but had more of a beef broth flavor where she prefers a more onion flavor, just an FYI for whoever is interested. Though before this you get a basket of bread which includes an onion roll type thing for each person as well as a roll of white bread. Bread was tasty. It's served with butter no oil mixture. I got the 16oz filet which was amazing. I've been to most of the local steak houses (Char, Ruth Chris, Steakhouse 85, Morton's) and I feel that this was definitely the highest quality beef. For sides we had the sautéed broccoli, onion rings and the cottage fries which are basically huge potato chips. The sides were great with the broccoli extremely fresh and the onion rings were the best I've ever had. No dessert so can't comment. Will definitely be going back. Not cheap but worth it.

New York City quality and sophistication without the hassle and expense. Hubby and I had dinner at Wolfgang's after hearing about " Mr. Wolfgang " from my father who is one of the very few patrons of Peter Lugers who own the original paper credit cards and who know the history of Wolfgang and his relationship with The famous Peter Luger's steakhouse. We were very impressed with the decor and atmosphere of Wolfgangs and the educated staff. The bar is really rich looking and matched the finest establishments in the City. We ordered drinks and Lobster bisque to start and then the porterhouse steak for two. I had the creamed spinach and lobster mac n cheese. The steak was cooked perfectly and tasted just like a great aged prime quality steak should which; I didn't expect anything less. We finished with the cheescake , homemade shlagg (their own homemade whipped cream) fantastic! The coffee was delicious and fresh and I was completely satisfied! Yes it's pricy but add another $75 bucks for parking and tolls and a two hour round trip in and out of the city; it's a bargain plus you get valet parking!

Went for lunch, it was pretty good.Sat at bar and had a rare steak sandwich which was flavorful and satisfying. My lunch partner had a well done cheeseburger- not something I'd recommend under any circumstances, but what are you going to do.Good draft beer selection, I had Fin Du Monde for the first time in years , which was enjoyable. The sandwich came with onion rings and fries.Initial reaction- worthwhile , if a little expensive. Will try again.

The Porterhouse for two is expensive but worth every penny. The blue cheese wedge is a little different but very good. The service was about what you would expect for a high end steak house.

Overall a great experience. Waiters were very nice and attentive but not too pushy when it and to ordering. The waiter answered all of our questions about the way the dish is prepared and etc. the decor is lovely and the atmosphere is great. Overall the food was delicious and large portions are served. Definitely had a great time and will be returning soon!

I have to say, contrary to other reviews, I love the food here. I've been a few times, and yes it is expensive but I have such issue with the service. You never have one server, it's like a feeding frenzy of servers. Constant whirlwind of "do you need another round" "more water" , etc. The last time we were in for dinner, when dinner came, we were circled by waiters serving food and sides. It's really annoying to not know who the heck your server is.

Second time here and I was thoroughly disappointed. I had the seared tuna which was over cooked when I asked for it medium rare. It was extremely dry and flavorless. The oysters were very fishy and seemed like they had been sitting around for awhile. The wait staff left a lot to be desired. We had to ask for silverware and numerous parts of our order that they did not bring out. This place is way overpriced for downtown Somerville. $50 for a steak that isn't even that good? Overall I would say spend your hard earned money somewhere where you will actually get what you pay for.

Not impressed... Prices are way too high for Somerville... However place is of course beautifully decorated as the same if any other steakhouse... Went to check out menu and have a Stella.. After waiting for bartender 10 minutes to take order.. Was going to put the Stella in a frosted beer mug?? Then said be right back from across the bar?? Was it the way I was dressed?? Really?? Waited another 10 minutes for him to come back and say.. Ugh the lines are 250 feet away n there is air in the line so we could not have Stella.. Had a Amstel light which was 7 bucks... Lol!! Giving 2 stars only because of the way we were treated..

4 of us went there for lunch, excited that there was potentially an accomplished steakhouse restaurant in Somerville. 3 ordered the steak sandwich, 1 the sirloin burger. The burger was very good, ordered it medium rare and it actually arrived medium rare (a rarity !). The 3 steak sandwiches were hugely disappointing. The steak was cut into randomly sized hunks rather than sliced, some were so gristley that they were inedible. The other pieces lacked any seasoning. The roll and toppings were undistinguished 3 times I asked to see a dinner menu to see what they offered at dinner, 3 times the waiter said he would be right back with it, 3 times a menu failed to materialize. OK, so it is new and obviously working out the kinks --- but a steak sandwich is not rocket science. And at $22 ................ Nice bar area.

Very good quality steaks, obviously, but everything else is dreadful; service, sides, ambience all poorly executed. Overpriced for the experience. Nothing like the NYC locations. Hopefully it will not last and something more suited but still higher end will take its place.

Went Tuesday night after snowstorm. Only four people at the bar when my friend and I sat down. The bartender did not even acknowledge our existence for a full five minutes. Not even a "will be with you in a minute". Lots of staff but no service ? Finally he said hello. We were not offered a menu -we had to ask! We felt invisible and I wondered if this was a "men only" establishment. The steak was excellent. Bread cold. Chicken ok. Spoke to the manager with our concerns which he apologized for lack of service. Will try again in the future to be fair but not happy at this visit. Nice decor but to me service is important. I can eat a great steak at home!

Came here with a reservation for 14, was told we would have a private room but that didn't happen. Food was good, not worth the price though, feel the food is better at Roots or Ruth's Chris. The staff however are rude and that's what will prevent me from coming back.

Full disclosure - my friend who doesn't have a yelp account is borrowing my acct - just because he was so disappointed. We went on a Saturday night in May for a birthday dinner. The restaurant itself is pleasant and was busy when we arrived. We were seated immediately, which I appreciated, but that rush to seat us was a prelude to the rushed evening we would experience. They didn't bother asking us for a drink order before they gave us our menus. I purposely ordered our apps separately from our mains so that I could slow down the pace of our meal. The food itself was ok but I've never had to season my food in any other high end steak house - including at Wolfgangs NYC. The waiters were extreme attentive and friendly - but the pace at which our meals were served made us feel like they were trying to turn the table - which was odd because halfway through our meal the restaurant had several open tables. All in all the food was ok but the experience itself wasn't worth the $370 we spent for two.

Great great great. Had a guys night out here on a Monday night. 8 of us. We sat down with the mindset of enjoying the night and eating great food. We were not disappointed. At a place like this we lean a lot on the servers and take there recommendations because they know what's good and you usual can't go wrong. We started with 2 seafood towers which were delicious and there thick bacon app (hard to go wrong with bacon). Lobster, shrimp, crab, all perfectly cooked. We left NOTHING on the plate. Next course was salad. They split up 3 wedge salads for 8 of us. Homemade blue cheese and thick pieces of bacon. Fresh, crisp, excellent. Now for the main course. We were served the porterhouse for 8. PLENTY. Steak was perfectly cooked- medium rare. There was no need to add salt because every piece was perfectly seasoned. We also ordered a couple sides- mash potatoes, wedge French fries, mushrooms, and spinach. Service was awesome. It was a Monday night and there were only 2 tables while we dined so all the servers gave us all there attention. It was actually entertaining having so much attention being placed on us. If you want great service, dine out on slower nights. After we paid they offered us an after dinner drinks which was very nice of them and topped off a great experience. We ends up paying $150 a person (tip included) and we all felt it was worth the splurge. (We also had 2 large bottles of wine). Some reviews complain about the prices but if you want good food it costs money. Don't go here if you are not comfortable with spending money. If you appreciate what a place like this does u will not be disappointed. No complaints. Glad they are new in the neighborhood.

Upon entry, it appeared that I had entered a top notch eatery in Manhattan, San Francisco, Miami or some other large cosmopolitan city. Then the service and food exceeded my wildest expectations. The NY Strip Steak (cooked rare) was the best I have ever had, bar none. The cocktails, appetizers, salads and sides were top notch. The wine list was outstanding and reasonably priced. I strongly recommend this establishment with the utmost confidence!

EXCELLENT experience! We went out with another couple last Saturday night on a whim and found this beautiful oasis in Somerville. Beautiful interior although we dined outside which was preferred. We ordered Caesar salads and cocktails to start off with. All were generous and tasty. The main courses we chose were porterhouse steak (exceptional) and three different seafood dishes. I had the seafood and pasta which had a sauce which was out of this world. The portions were very substantial, the chef was on his game that evening! The staff were so attentive and friendly. We were attended to but not in an obtrusive manner. The food was enjoyable and the atmosphere very relaxing. I admit it is a little pricey but so well worth it. If you drive into NYC, it's much further and you have to pay for parking. Wolfgang's is like a New York restaurant in the heart of Somerville. We can't wait to go again!

I loved it. So long as you understand going in that you're going to pay NYC prices in a Somerville restaurant, you won't be disappointed. And while the prices are high, their steak portions are huge and perfectly cooked. After reading the rest of the reviews, I expected a work-in-progress kind of staff, but they were professional and friendly when i went. This place and Char are the best in the area by far. Would definitely recommend, and return.

Wow. I am truly amazed. Just went here before the blizzard of 2015 and it was great. You can not go wrong here, everything was delicious. The staff was very kind and helpful. The menu is truly great. It does not have an overload of food but just the right amount of choices. I had the delicious Porterhouse which came out sizzling and smelt of a perfectly cooked piece of meat. To top it off I finished with a Creme Brûlée which had Wolfgangs cream on it, needless to say it was great. Overall please do come here because trust me, you won't be disappointed.

Great good, great staff. Yes NYC prices, but love this place! Steaks are always fabulous, get the creamed spinach its sooo good. Wolfgang was there, in person, greeting people table by table. He's very kind and welcoming.....gracious man. Go and splurge! Enjoy!

James, the GM, personable and hospitable. The staff is on point. Food was outrageously good. Oyster (hog islands) ice cold, delicious and served by Billy our server expertly. Crab cocktail Colossal size jumbo lump. Biggest chunks from anywhere I've ever seen. Wolfgang's salad was righteous, pork belly, shrimp. Steak was perfect. Memorable. Martinis- blue cheese stuffed olives, expertly prepared. Get there early like we did and watch the dining room fill up and the buzz builds with great food and great clientele. Don't think twice, this is an obvious choice in NJ.

My wife decided to take me out for my birthday and thought about trying "the new steak place in Somerville". Not knowing of ANY steak place I looked it up and Wolfgangs. Reminds me of all the great steak places like Ben Bensons or Peter Lugers in that the service was excellent as was the food! Ordered the porterhouse for two, which fed three and it was cooked to perfection! Glad we now have a great steak place local. Be prepared to pay for such service. Our bill for 4 with one drink and one glass of wine was $250 w/o tip. Special occasion location.

By far one of the best restaurants I've been to in a long time. The shrimp cocktail was amazing, oysters fresh as can be, and the tastiest chopped salad I've had. The New York style service, attentive, informative and friendly. All in all a wonderful experience. Me and My wife can't wait to go back there.

When I go to a steak house I expect the meat to be the star. That was not the case here. We started with the Canadian Bacon appetizer which we shared. A total disappointment. Too fatty and too salty. For my entree I ordered the baby back ribs and my date ordered the petit filet. Although very tender my ribs were totally overwhelmed by the sauce which was entirely too sweet. I sent them back and requested them with the sauce on the side. What arrived was an uninspired boiled rack with not much taste. The filet was quite salty and not too flavorful either but my date was reluctant to send it back. Fair warning! Everything is a la carte. My side of sauteed asparugus was just that. No seasoning to speak of and no hollandaise nor other sauces to compliment it. The salad was a sad plate of mixed greens with two slices of tomato. This time of year I would have expected some very flavorful local produce. This is, after all, the Garden State! Service was good but needs to be more attentive and ask promptly if everything meets expectations. Had that happened my guest would probably have sent back her entree for something else. Be well aware that this place is not cheap. Entrees start at almost thirty dollars and the sides and appetizers are also relatively expensive for what they are. Four stars for the service, one star for food which averages to two and a half stars. I have to deduct that half star for the unreasonable prices. I cannot recommend this restaurant and shall not be returning.

Expected Sooo Much More ... Visit at your own risk. NYC prices with ZERO quality control. Our first order, a med-rare Petit Fillet and Ribeye were brought out cooked Medium Well. For $100 worth of meat at a high end steak house it's clear that anyone would expect better. No matter, I asked them to re-fire the steaks and the two sides (Lobster Mac and Mashed Potatoes) so that they were hot when the meat was done. My Ribeye came back rare vs. Med-rare... Fine, I can deal with that. But my wife's Fillet can back ice cold! This is just crazy! This is a steakhouse that expects $45 for a piece of meat. You HAVE to be able to get temperature correct, this isn't optional. To add more fuel to the fire, they took my Mac and stuck it under the salamander instead of cooking it again and assumed I wouldn't notice the burnt Macaroni on top.... Incredibly poor quality control. The entire experience was a shame. Needless to say, I had them remove the ice cold fillet from the bill and the manager was "generous" enough to comp a glass of wine. Laughable at best.

Went this weekend with a group of 10. Service was very good and place is great looking. What made it a stellar night was the food.everyone enjoyed their entrees - New York Strip was my choice and I was verynhapoy. Cooked to perfection.Wolfgang salad was tasty as was all the side dishes. I highly recommended this place for those looking for a great steakhouse experience .

Very disappointed in their service and the meal. Although my sirloin was fabulous it wasn't worth $50. Others at our table had veal chops and filet mignon which were disappointing. Overall not up to its reputation.

Wasn't the best experience. Food took 45mins to come out! I timed it!!!! Actually 45mins is being too gracious! It actually took close to an hr. Got the petit filet mignon it was a very dry even though it came with sauce! Seems like the steak was sitting for a while on the line and dried up. The lobster mac and cheese was not all that either; I decided to get it based on the reviews online, but it was very bland. The Chilean sea bass was ok not much flavor but it was the only part of our mean that wasn't dry or overcooked. Furthermore while sitting for 54mins waiting for dinner to come out, our water was never refilled NOT ONCE! NOR WAS OUR DRINKS... The only good part of this meal was the Long Island ice tea my ass was buzzing like a queen bee after 3 sips but for $160 meal between 2 ppl I'd expect much better! Would be my last visit here for sure!

Probably the best steak I ever had in my life. I have been to every major steak house in Manhattan and have been going to Peter Lugers since I was a child in Brooklyn. To those complaining about prices, I recommend you stick with the Tuesday night special at the Outback. This is New York quality so expect to pay NY prices. And to anyone suggesting that a piece of quality prime dry aged steak be cooked beyond medium rare: you should be charged with a crime against culinary excellence. New Jersey is trying to overcome a reputation for holding a population of unsophisticated philistines. Please respond positively if you want to keep a NY culinary institution in our state. B

This is definitely a place that you need to try. I enjoyed the food and our waiter was GREAT! The issue is with the blond women hostess. She was rude and very inconsiderate. She told us that our table was ready and because I had to pay my bar bill ,which took a minute, she gave our table away. When I asked her why she did that she was rude and disrespectful. Last time I checked we as customers are.the ones that your suppose to actually be good to.... Not until I complained did they sit us down. Unreal that left a bad taste in our mouth.

Finally a New York style steakhouse in Somerset County. Ambience on a Friday night was great with the bar area having live entertainment from a singer and pianist. The porterhouse was excellent along with the crab cakes. The Lychee margarita went down easy. The staff was attentive without being overbearing.

Finally a NYC experience in Somerville. If you need to know the history behind Wolfgang's steakhouse, look it up on the web, I'm just happy that a big name like Wolfgang chose Somerville. We ordered the oysters, porterhouse for 4 and a ribeye. Oysters were fresh, the portershouse was on par with any restaurant that charge in the $50 range for steak. I thought the rib-eye lacked a little flavor when compared to the porterhouse. So just stick with what they are known for, the porterhouse. Service was a little off being that it was opening week. I'm sure it will settle down. Highly recommended.

Went there for Valentine's Day with my girlfriend. We had a WONDERFUL dinner, We started with a seafood platter then we had an amazing RIB EYE that was cooked to perfectly accompanied by a colossal lobster tail. A fresh fruit platter with homemade whip cream was a great way to finish off dinner. Was very pleased with the service, multiple waiters were always checking in to make sure we were pleased and if we needed anything. Overall I was very pleased with the steakhouse and will recommend it to my friends, even got a birthday wish from the GM for my girlfriends B-Day.

Wow was I shocked with my experience at Wolfgang's! I am a Somerville local and was thrilled to see that Wolfgang's was coming to town. I don't do a ton of fine dining but an establishment like Wolfgang's in our little town is pretty cool. After eating there, however, I would rather have anything else! OK so first of all it was incredibly loud in the restaurant. My party of 4 was seated right next to one of the waiter's stations where they would frequently gather to yell at each other and regroup. They also kept bumping into my chair. Definitely the worst seat in the house. We waited FOREVER for someone to come over and take our order. How hard is it to take our drink order? When we did get our drinks, it wasn't until I was halfway finished with my beer that I realized my mug was chipped in multiple places around the rim. I hope I didn't swallow any glass. I will send them the bill if I did. We ordered a ton of appetizers: lump crab, crab cakes, mozzarella & tomato salad, and bacon. They were good. Not amazing but good. For my entree I ordered the grilled sea bass with creamed spinach. The sea bass was either 29.99 or 39.99. Whatever it was, it was a ridiculous for a piece of dry fish I could have easily made myself. Ditto on the creamed spinach. Someone else in my party ordered steak fries and the waiter asked if we would like ketchup and we said yes. THEN HE DISAPPEARED FOR THE REST OF OUR MEAL. We asked a bus boy for ketchup and HE ALSO DISAPPEARED. So we didn't have ketchup the entire time we were there. I should call Heinz. Our water wasn't even refilled until we were paying the bill. I noticed something very weird, also--there were no female servers. I'm not sure if this was just that night or if they really don't have any female servers but it's 2015. Wake up. Maybe a female server would've been a tad more attentive to our table. TL;DR Don't go here. Save yourself some money and visit one of the MANY other great places in beautiful downtown Somerville.

Food was mediocre, I've had better take out. The interior is hideous. The valet was racing 2 customer cars while parking them and screeching tires which was the most offensive part of the night. The bartender asked "when are you going to leave because I don't know if I need to split your tip" There is no professionalism with the staff. This place sucks.

Terrible steak. Will never come back. No taste rubbery and dry. This is not quality meat. Sides also bland. Not one thing is good at this place. Sticking with ruth chris and steakhouse 85 for a good locsl steakhouse.

We came with a party of 6, ordered porterhouse steak for 4 & a 3-1/2 lb broiled lobster, 3 baked gigantic potatoes, 2 slices of Canadian bacons, an onion soup and a arugula Pear & apple salad. No drinks & no desert. We paid approx $75/person. Great experience for special occasion

Wolfgang's Steakhouse! You can find this fine dining establishment in: -New York City - Beverly Hills, CA - Miami, FL -Waikiki, HI ...and.... Somerville, NJ! huh? Somerville has some nice restaurants but none as fancy as the new Wolfgangs. Will it last? Not so sure. This location does not compare to the other locations. My companion and I were in the area of Somerville so we decided to have a quick dinner at one of the many restaurants on Main street. I heard there was a new steak house so I thought maybe we would stop in and get something to eat at the bar. I was quite impressed with the decor. Lots of expensive wood, modern tile and overall great craftsmanship. The staff were all young and well groomed. We made our way to the bar and were warmly greeted by a male bartender. There was a basket of fresh made potato chips in place. We chose to have just a glass of water and an unsweetened ice-t. The Ice-T was served in a Tom Collins glass which is small. $3.95. No refill. We then chose to share a 1/2 rack of ribs- $15 off of the appetizer menu and to also share the Chicken Parmesan dinner- $30. After we ordered, we had a female bartender behind the bar who asked us if we ordered. We told her we did and she asked what it was. She then went on to rant about being surrounded by male staff and how they were slowing her down. We really didn't understand what she was talking about but I found it to be quite unprofessional. Who knows.. While waiting, we were served a basket of bread which included two onion rolls and one french bread. They were just ok. The bread would have been better if it was warm and the butter was too cold. We waited a reasonable time of around 10 minutes for our ribs to be served. They were saucy and meaty looking served with a garnish of apple chutney. We had no problem splitting them up with a fork because they were so tender. Unfortunately, they were ice cold in the middle. The male bartender was back and when we told him they were cold, he replied, "Oh, they are still cold?" I'm not certain why he was telling us they were cold to begin with. I mean, I know they don't cook them fresh in 10 minutes but I don't need to know that they were cold. The ribs were returned to us in about another 5 minutes and this time they were hot and yummy. :) About 15 minutes after that, our chicken parm was served and it was split up on two plates which I was happy about. The chicken parm was large and it was served with a side of rigatoni. It already had a sprinkle of grated parm on it. I was never offered more cheese or hot pepper or even fresh ground pepper. In all honesty, it could have used some salt. There was very little sauce but my companion likes it like that. The pasta was cold but I did not want to complain about cold food again so I just ate it. The chicken was tender, nicely breaded and fried without being greasy but overall I thought it lacked flavor. We passed on coffee and dessert but I did ask to see a dessert menu. They were all priced at $10.95 each (apple strudel, cheesecake, etc) But the fresh fruit plate was $11.95. Overall, I think this young staff could benefit from some experience. They have not been open that long so I think it will happen over time if they don't go out of business. Somerville is a middle class neighborhood so I am uncertain how it will do. That being said, I would go back again for the 1/2 rack ribs and maybe an appetizer of the lobster mac and cheese. I saw it being served and it looked really good. As for the steak, I just can't bring myself to spend over $40 on a piece of meat. Not unless my date wants to pay for it. ;)

Great bar and wait staff. Although the restaurant is new the people have clearly been well trained. We were there on the first Saturday night they were open, and saw no signs of new restaurant type problems. Live music on Saturday night was very good (80s?) Place is a little loud, sometimes even talking across the table was a challenge. Everything we had was very good or excellent. Be prepared for steakhouse style menus where everything is extra and you'll be fine. Excellent choices included: tuna tartar and crab cake appetizer, filet mignon, aged lamb chops. Wolfgang salad OK a bit too oniony for our tastes. Bar mixes great cocktails, looking forward to exploring this further! Obvious comparison would be with Char in Raritan. After one night here I'd say Wolfgang's is a little more expensive, maybe a little fancier, with perhaps a little more attention to detail. More research is required :)

The restaurant is beautiful inside. Even has flat screens in each urinal how do you top that The food is very good The comments you have about being pricey is true but we found the trick. Order the big steak which is delicious and split it between your party We actually had the fish and the Dover sole was excellent The service was good

We really enjoyed the steaks and lamb chops. Slightly better than Char Sides were all very good We were just discussing that the wait staff is gonna brand me a b**ch. potatoes were warm , which they corrected, tomato mozzarella for two was not evenly set (1 tomato. 1 mozzarella) which they corrected Tea water was not hot. They boiled it So for the small things that were wrong they corrected each item

Been trying to figure out a way to tactfully review this restaurant for a week now. Just cant find the right approach, so Ill just wing it.. The restaurant: Beautiful, lush interior with an enormous bar. Classic wood finishes and accommodating seating arrangements. The service: Immediately upon being seated, our waiter arrived and greeted us in a familiar Brooklyn accent that seemed to resonate between every waiter that passed by. It was a warm and charming welcome, with a "how ya doin" flair. Throughout our stay at the restaurant our waiter seemed to have disappeared from time to time, and on two occasions I had to flag down someone to help us for a refill on our wine. The food: for appetizers we got the lobster salad and tuna tar tar, mine being the lobster. The size of the appetizers is something of gigantic proportions. The the entree - we had the 8oz and 16oz filet, mine being the 16oz. I asked for it medium and I received it purple and cool on the inside. The sides (since you meal doesnt come with anything) are all a la cart, so we grabbed the sauteed onions and mashed potatos and both were decent. Desert was good. Overall: I think the service could have been better, but since this place has just recently opened, I will assume that it can only get better. The food, and specifically my steak - which I would have assumed for the price would have been cooked to perfection and tasted out of this world, was anything but. At a final price point of $220 for dinner, I found myself wondering.. "was this worth it - and will i come back?" - and the answer - Im sorry to say, no.

So for a Mother's Day treat, I decided to take the wife and kids out to the new Wolfgang's Steakhouse. That's Wolfgang Zwiener, not Puck (yeah I had no idea either). You know ... Wolfgang's Steakhouse of TOKYO, NEW YORK, MIAMI, HAWAII and SOMERVILLE NJ fame. Wait, Somerville NJ?! (more on that later). Wolfgang's is a fine dining steakhouse chain of the Ruth's Chris steakhouse variety. It features a fairly slim and conservative menu of steaks and a few seafood dishes, some staple appetizers and a small dessert menu. Everything is ordered ala carte, including the sides. This is what has become Americana fine dining in the US (forget that Wolfgang is German for a second). Wolfgang's Steakhouse in Somerville NJ offers a crisp, clean and slightly conservative ambiance. Well lit in parts and secluded in others, the teak like wood finish floors and wall accents and the modern decor are satisfying on the eye. Each table is crewed by a host of waiters, under waiters and busboys in a dizzying array of hands, arms and accents. One feels like a LeMans racer at Monte Carlo with their own pit crew. We ordered the Jumbo Shrimp and Crab Cake appetizers (hence "staple" appetizers) along with the Arugula-Pear salad. I had a petite Filet Mignon with a side of asparagus, and the other dishes my family ordered were the Seafood Pasta, Lobster Mac-n-Cheese (side) and the Shrimp Scampi. The dishes arrived in staggered formation with the salad arriving last. There was enough pause between the first and last of the main courses showing up to make us wait a bit uncomfortably while we stared at half of our food on the table. The dishes themselves were prepared excellently. While I'm not a seafood guy, the Shrimp Scampi was excellent, and the steak, true to form, was cooked perfectly and came with the signature Wolfgang steak sauce (I'm not a big fan of steak sauce but this stuff was good!). For dessert we had Pecan Pie, Fresh Fruit and a Hot Fudge Sundae. The desserts were all excellent (especially the Pecan Pie ... one of the best I've had). It's at this point I have to mention the "Schlag" (German for whipped cream). Every dessert seems to come with this and it's almost it's own food group. Made in house, it's an amazing accompaniment to all of the desserts. All in all we had an excellent time. So why only three stars? The price. The above "feast" (including 4 glasses of wine) came to a dizzying $400.00 with tip. So basically NYC prices in exotic downtown Somerville NJ. While clean fine dining was once trendy, contemporary food has moved to the more creative and unique. Wolfgang's doesn't satisfy in quite the same way that Ruth's Chris did for me and the very oddball location of downtown Somerville not only makes Wolfgang's the most expensive restaurant in town (even beating out the Melting Pot a few blocks away) but also a veritable trap for walk-ins in a very walk-in heavy neighborhood. Additionally for a place that charges as much as Wolfgang's does, the service was a tad disorganized (enough to comment here) and while the aesthetics are nice, the hard wood floors makes the acoustics almost unbearable. While I do think the area needed an upscale dining experience, the specific location is a bad one and i can't imagine too many middle class families/couples will feel like they got their money's worth out of this experience. Who will enjoy this restaurant the most? The 50+ crowd with tons of disposable income and younger men trying to impress a date by blowing half their weekly salary on a place that sounds impressive ... but really just kind of isn't. In the end, good but not great and certainly not deserving of the ridiculous pricing going on here.

For those with more money than sense ... What can I say? My parents and I get together every few weeks to try a different steakhouse, so we know what's out there. While the meat at Wolfgang's is good, there's no excuse for cooking it improperly. My husband's medium-rare sirloin was raw in the middle; my medium-rare filet was medium-well, verging on well-done in some places. My parents like their steaks medium-well ... Which it was in some places and medium-rare in others. Zero consistency. The sides were mediocre at best. Mashed potatoes tasted like instant, the broccoli was rubbery and cold. The fries were good - hot and well seasoned, but not enough to save a $400 tab of D- food. Especially when they came out well after all our steaks! I'm glad we skipped the appetizers because the salads were totally lackluster - the meat is clearly the focus. I don't mind paying for quality, but this was not it. The service was also terrible, bordering on abusive. Our main waiter yanked the wine list from our table without a word to give it to another party. When I asked for it back, his reply was "Do you need it right away?" The underwaiter made up for this crappy attitude, but the grouchy one came back to spirit off my empty wine glass, and never even offered a refill. We had to track him down for that too. The service happening around us didn't appear to be any better - we almost got another table's food twice while we waited, and waiters were bumping into patrons left and right without even a "sorry." And this was on a night when Wolfgang himself was there. While I appreciate they had a full house for a Saturday dinner rush, the place was so loud we could barely hear each other. They do have a nice wine list and great selection of bourbon. Skip the table service and head to the bar mid-week if you must go. I'm going back to Don Shula's for my next sit-down steak dinner

Reservation honored on time. Professional, efficient and friendly staff. Extensive wine list from $39 up to $$$$$. We enjoyed a St. Emilion for $65. The lobster bisque was outstanding, authentic, savory and satisfying. The seafood tower was half a lobster, two gigantic shrimp and satisfying large portion of lump crab meat. The veal Milanese with a mound of deliciously flavored greens was an authentic veal chop pounded thin with a delicate well seasoned crust. The ribeye was enormous, easily enough for two people with healthy appetites and perfectly cooked. We had a side of sautéed broccoli with roasted garlic. All said expensive at $125 a head, but quality and value was good. We will happily return...sooner than later.

Have tried the Wolfgang's on East 54th Street and this branch was far better. From the service to our porterhouse steak, everything was fab. Celebrated two birthdays and it was a great night. All appetizers, wine, side veggies and dessert were delish. It was nice that the staff didn't hover, rush us and/or remove plates as one guest was finished before the other two. Really appreciated that. It shows the management cares and wants guests to return.

All I can say, hate vegetables much? So first off, this place is EXPENSIVE. Like not $30 for a main course expensive but $50+ for one thing. We're in Somerville, not NYC. Heck, I've been to "expensive" restaurants in NYC that cost less than this! So, the restaurant itself is nice. The wooden floors were a nice touch(although my boots had no traction whatsoever). Lighting was alright. Basically the place looked fine. Now for the food. Like I mentioned before, this place hates greens. This is one of those places where you buy the meat and that's all you get. No included sides, just the meat. Honestly, I cannot eat just meat. I'm sorry if I am into a more balanced meal. The sides were as expensive as a meal in a cheaper restaurant. $12 for a plate of sauteed mushrooms? I got it and yeah, I could make them taste ten times better for a fraction of that cost. Oh and don't get me started on the steak. It was just that. Steak. Nothing extra about it, no depth of flavor, just meat. This is always a negative in my book because I NEED flavor other wise the food tastes bland. So I ended up getting a chocolate mousse to go. I get home to look at it and I have to say, it is very, very unappetizing to look at. The wait staff was good, they always checked up on us and never kept us waiting for long. However I cannot ignore the food. Yeah, not worth it.

    1) our dining time - 4 hours. 2) order taking errors - My wife ordered the regular filet 16oz med well...she received a petite extra well-done overcooked filet. We informed the waiter of the error. He takes the dish and then 2 minutes later he returns with the same dish and tells my wife that if you don't take this, it will be 30 minutes until you get another filet (this is after everyone at the table got their food) We ordered several side dishes, never received and but got billed. / Ordered porterhouse for 4 people (64 oz with meat and bone) We received 2 bone in porterhouses on the same dish which basically could have fed just 2 of us. What was weird upon ordering, the server kept on trying to convince us to order the porterhouse for 3. 3) Quality - $13.00 lobster mac and cheese was dry and flavorless, Porterhouses were super greasy . We basically had a grease lake at our table. 4) Prices - $$$$$, not for Somerville. Overall experience was very disappointing especially after being so excited for a restaurant of this caliber opening up in Somerville

It seems the reviews for this place are all over the map. Some people praise it more than it may deserve, and others seem to have had experiences worse than I encountered. So I will take the middle road. First, the food was delicious. We had the porterhouse for two, which might have been the best cut of steak I have ever had. We had the sautéed spinach and lobster mac and cheese sides, both of which were fantastic. I would say the mac and cheese is a must if you go. We had the tuna tartare appetizer. My wife loved it, and I thought it was "good". I couldn't give it any more than that. But all in all, I would say the food deserved four stars. But the price! The location, ambiance and food do not warrant the menu prices. You would expect that cost at some of the high end steak houses in Manhattan, but this place doesn't really live up to that- even considering my rave review of the steak. Dinner for two, with a bottle of wine (second cheapest that had) cost $300. My suggestion, go there once for a special occasion or for expensed business and you will really enjoy yourself. But after that, you may never return. Nothing, as delicious as it was, was worth a second trip at those prices.

Unfortunately the majority of these reviews are right. This restaurant by far mis represents the quality dining experience you should expect, especially with the NYC prices in the heart of Somerville. This is my total review, from someone who regularly eats at Char and Steakhouse 85 in New Brunswick. Atmosphere would have been a 10 (would have) great classic interior space, plenty of nice woodwork, but, at about 9pm on a Thursday in the dining room area, they started playing Electronic music at a much higher volume over the sound system. From Frank Sinatra to EDM in seconds, we were very confused. When we left I saw they had a DJ in the bar. I don't disagree with adding some nightlife to the bar on a Thursday night, but don't blast that music in the dining room as well. The people who were in the dining room definitely did not fit the demographic of the music that was being played and it was very obvious that it was making some of the patrons have to speak louder to have a conversation, in the dining room. Service started out as you would expect from a fine steakhouse. Offering an opinion on steaks, great bread. Unfortunately I will explain what happened, but our total dining time came to three and a half hours. Pretty tough here to order a glass of wine due to the price, so expect to order a bottle. We ordered a 2012 from California, but we're brought a 2011, which if you know anything about wine you'll know that 2011 was a terrible year for California. We sent it back and asked for a different wine that was a 2012. Our steaks came out. One large filet and one porterhouse for two. Both ordered medium rare, filet was epic, but the porterhouse (which is their signature steak if you know lugars or wolfgangs) was over done, past medium, right around medium well. If you have ever had s porterhouse you know they slice it for you, so being that it was so overdone, it should have never made it to the table. After saying something, a new steak was bright out quickly, and it was what we had originally expected, excellent. After dinner we did order expressos and dessert. The waiter captain did offer us a complimentary dessert drink, my fiancé got ice wine, it was delicious. No lemon with the expresso, it was good otherwise. The big problem with the dessert was we ordered Creme Brûlée. After the first bite I noticed something wasn't right. I shared it with the others at the table, the custard didn't have any sugar. It was very yellow, and was basically a quiche. It was extremely eggy and if not for the sugar on top would have been absolutely terrible. For $12 I really would have expected much better. We had already had to send the wine back and the steak back at this time, so we just kept it to ourselves about the Creme Brûlée. The biggest problem with the night came when it came time for the bill. After dessert, table runners passing by cleared the table, but our waiter did not stop back, for about 35 minutes. Didn't stop to ask if we needed anything else, ask if we wanted the bill, ask if we wanted another drink, nothing. After leaving the Resturaunt, I check my bank account, they must have mad a mistake splitting the bill, and charged my card twice. I called in and spoke to the manager and was assured that the charge had been a mistake and was already reversed, but it will take a few days to come off. Like another reviewer mentioned, for a place with 4 locations in NYC and one in Tokyo, Beverly Hills, and Miami. They should have opening a new location without growing pains down pat. For over $300 for three people, this was a very disappointing experience. I would say dine somewhere else until you see the reviews going in a positive direction.

Using the Wolfgang name doesn't always mean your eating at a fine dining restaurant! The price is the only thing making this place fine dining. I'm sorry to report that we were not impressed with the food, the service and the overall setting. My wife got the filet and it was over cooked. She ordered medium rare and it was more on the medium plus side. My Sea Bass was not flaky... It was more tough like a swordfish. The sides were very large portions and seemed like a lot of wasted food. We passed on desert because we weren't that sold after the main meal and apps was just ok. No need to return! Our bill for two with 2 salads, petit filet, sea bass, cream spinach and 1 glass of wine - 168.00 with tip just to give you a low average.

Although the servers were good and the food adequate, the wine mark up was ridiculous and the management and hostesses were inattentive and almost surly Not a good value

Thank heavens for a gift certificate...NYC prices in Somerville?.; unfortunately yes. Exact same pricing/menu as the Wolfgang's Steakhouse in Tribeca. Food was excellent and the waiters attention to my needs was spot on. Dinner for 2 = $200.00 Order: Crabcake - to die for!! Comes with a lightly dressed salad and creamy dipping sauce. The cake was enough for a meal. Chilean Sea Bass - move over porthouse, the portion was huge and very very meaty!! Cook to perfection with a tad bit of salt (I'm not a salt person), but delish. Ribeye - massive cut and was perfectly cooked. Hard to finish because it was scorching hot so picking at the sides filled you up before you could finish. But very good overall. Sides - al carte, but family style so we ordered mashed 'tators, steak fries (which were just regular french fries) and steamed spinach. 3 sides for 2 people were a lot; but all very good. Dessert - Key Lime pie and Apple Stuedel; both amazing. BUT what was out of this world was their whipped cream OR schlag!! HOLY HEAVEN I could eat an entire plate of schlag!!! No need for ice cream... Drinks - ordered iced tea and only one because I heard they charge for refills, so stayed with water after that. If, big IF, I visit again I would just get the crabcake app and def dessert! Both were filling enough for a dinner. All in all, great meal - extremely filling - wonderful vibe for downtown. Just hope it stays because I feel a bit too fancy for Somerville clientele.

Overall I was not impressed with my first experience at Wolfgang's. The service was decent, or waiter was friendly but not overly helpful (not the type of service where the waiter knows what you need before you ask for it). It was somewhat rushed, our appetizer came out a few minutes after ordering and after eating the huge seafood platter, our porterhouse arrived. I don't care for rushing when I am paying for an expensive meal although my husband likes fast service. As someone else said, there are only seafood apps and overall it was bland. Our porterhouse was good but lacked seasoning. The filet side of it was much more tender. The sides (lobster mac and cheese and german potatoes were underwhelming. For dessert, we got creme brûlée which was amazing. On the side of it they served a big bowl of a whipping creme which was to die for. However, dessert isn't a reason to go back unfortunately. Me and my husband still like Steakhouse 85 best in New Brunswick.

Made a reservation for Valentine's Day dinner the day their online reservation system went live. Confirmed via email within 24, with conformation via phone 24 hours prior to the dinner, so good communication. The reservation was for 7PM but we arrived 15 minutes early. To my surprise they were able to seat us right away. We checked our coats and were led to a quiet alcove area towards the rear of the restaurant. Although we didn't request a specific table location this was great given the occasion because it was out of the way and we could carry on a normal conversation without having to speak loudly. (It was table 92 if anyone is interested, I heard the greeter tell the hostess to put us there). It is close to the kitchen entrance/exit, but that never bothers me as I can see the different prepared dishes as they come out. Bread and water was brought to the table right away by the assistant waiter, and our waiter Alex came over to introduce himself. When asked if there were specials he replied that the whole menu was special (so the answer was no). Voss is the sparkling water they serve by the bottle and we ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir from California's J Vinyards. As should be expected the markup was about 100% for the bottle in this level of restaurant. We ordered 2 slices of bacon and the lobster cocktail as an appetizer. The bacon was grilled nicely, not too burned but yet had some crispness to it. It could of had a some more flavor to it with a little more smoke or maybe a dip on the side, like a maple glaze, but it good. We were surprised by the lobster cocktail! It was a whole lobster split in half, gutted, cleaned, and cracked, served on a chilled bed of lettuce. It was brought out with a basket of various crackers and some horseradish to zip up the cocktail sauce. This was a nice way of serving the cocktail sauce because my wife prefers it very mild but yet I like it with so much horseradish my eyes water. For dinner we ordered the porterhouse for two cooked medium. We asked the waiter about the potato options and he instantly recommended the German potatoes, which we ordered with sautéed creamed spinach. He didn't steer us wrong. They were crisp with some burned edges on the onions and potatoes but not overcooked and dry. The spinach was also prepared well, with not too much cream sauce as to overwhelm the actual flavor vegetable. As for the porterhouse, the flavor was excellent! It was tender, juicy, and served piping hot on a sizzling plate at the table. That being said it was undercooked, which I kind of thought it might be based on reviews. Again, the wife and I are at the opposite ends of the steak temperature spectrum, her preferring medium rare and I medium well, but I can eat steak any way it comes out, unlike her. Cooking it medium was a compromise that would have worked well, but it came out medium rare. I took from the ends, which were cooked closer to medium, and I laid some pieces down of the extremely hot plate to cook them a little further, which worked well, but I shouldn't of had to do that. Overall though, a great piece of meat. For dessert we shared a piece of the chocolate mousse cake with homemade "schlag" (whipped cream). It was a nicely sized slice, plenty to share, and the schlag made it even better. The wife had a decaf coffee which she said tasted fresh, and I had a cappuccino. It was served in the same style of cup as their coffee with a sprinkling of cinnamon on it with not too much foam. Service was very good. Not great, but very good. There was a lot of moving around by the wait staff, and you could see their was some confusion at times between them, but nothing that affected our table. The person who I assume was the manager came around later in the meal and asked how everything was, which we told him was very good, but he never actually introduced himself so I don't know for sure. At no time did we seem rushed, and the food came out with good timing. Since it was a busy night we actually asked if they needed us to get going so they could have the table when we were finishing dessert, but the said not at all and asked if we wanted more coffee or another cappuccino. Overall it was a nice night. We sat from 6:45 until a little after 9. The food was very good, and I would absolutely go here again. It might need some polish and a little fine tuning but they've only been open a month. This should get better with some additional time. They also had a long stemmed red rose for all of the ladies as they were leaving, it being Valentine's Day and all, so kudos for a nice finishing touch.

Went here last night for my 22nd anniversary dinner with my husband. Have been to steakhouses before so knew how to order. We started with the seafood tower for 1. The jumbo shrimp were huge, the lobster was a little difficult to get out of the knuckle (there wS no claw ) and the lump crabmeat pieces were large. We had the porterhouse steak for 2. Was a little underwhelmed as the steak really had no seasoning but the steak sauce was good. The baked potato we had just came with sour cream, had to ask for butter. Cocktails were good but pricey. Be prepared for a noisy restaurant as the tables are kinda close to each other and there is nothing to absorb the sound. Overall I was kind of disappointed. I would rather go to Ruth's Chris or Matts Red Rooster for steak.

I took my wife here for Valentine's Day. They charge NYC prices in central NJ. Our total bill was $150 before tip for two entrees, two desserts ($11 each) and two glasses of wine (one glass for each of us at $12 a glass). I got an 8oz filet which was $41 by itself. My sides were $10 extra for broccoli and $7 for a baked potato. I told the waiter for just butter with the baked potato and was given sour cream and chives instead. Luckily they were on the side. I was happy to see they were on OpenTable which allowed me to make a reservation weeks in advance without having to call.

Excellent steak, cooked to perfection. Service stellar, with no wait for drinks. The appetizers were absolutely amazing(Canadian bacon.). Only downside is parking.

Very disappointed. Food was mediocre, wine list was descent. On our $550 bill there was a discrepancy over a $10 beer. The beer ended up staying on the bill even though it never found its way to our table. Needless to say, I will not recommend anyone visit this establishment.
