Service slow/inattentive and front hostess had to be hunted down on 3 of 4 visits. Attitude seems somewhat uncaring and inattentive. Food quality is good but not conistent for price levels, overall, seems just a bit too much for what you get. The higher end menu sandwiches or pizza's together with the overpriced and very weak $2.50 iced tea, will cost you $15-20 per/p by the time tip and tax are figured in. This is slightly higher than Mumfords, and with much lower consistency and much poorer service. There are some good items ( the roasted pear & prosciutto panini is great) and some OK ones, but nothing mind blowing. Worst experience of my 4 visits, was seeing my 65+year old parents, shivering in cold lobby after being told they would not be seated until I showed up (5 minutes later). Having "incomplete party" rules is a HUGE turn off for a lunch joint. Especially so when the place was only 1/3 full at lunchhour! Hostess was questioned by my dear old dad, she said she did not know why she was unable to seat 2 out of 3 people, except owner had told her to do this! Servers are friendly, but on 3 of 4 visits took quite awhile to get to table, then longer to get food. Food itself- interesting, good quality, especially the panini's and salads. 'Special personal pizzas' were overcooked on 2 visits, pear/goat salad is just OK. Figs were unripe on 1 visit, not acceptable for a $12 lunch item. In sum, this place is just over the price level, and well under the service level especially the absentee hostesses, to make it worth returning. The service faults and price point overtake the memory of a better -than average food experience and D'Jeet is not up to its competitors' skills yet. Better options?take a 5 minute drive to Mumford's where service is consistently nice and fast with better food, or, take the 15 minute ride to Belford Bistro's incredible $10 cash lunch special- gounrmet 3 course lunch with inredible service, or even walk across the street to Strokers for a decent tuna sub. Would not be recommending this to anyone.

I don't understand some of the bad reviews. My husband and I have been there three times and were very pleased all three times. The last time we were there we had the hummus appetizer, we each had a small salad and the quinoa pilaf. We thought the prices were reasonable and the food very satisfying and fresh. If you want huge portions, salads drenched in dressing and cheap, and I mean cheap prices, because the prices at D'Jeet were not too high, go to a chain restaurant.

We really feel bad for this place, bc we forsee it closing in a couple of months. Their seafood chowder was very good, could have been a little creamier. For our entree we had the calzone with artichokes, tagliatelle with salmon in a cream sauce, a burger and a pizza. None were good, its quite a shame. Definitely will not return.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
