If you're like me (and I'm sure you are since I am a Man of the People™), you enjoy food that makes people fat. If the portions are huge, the plates large, and the customers all have their own zip codes, pull up a chair cuz I'm going to sit down and gain a couple of pounds. Cracker Barrel is one of those places. The walls are covered in ridiculous amounts of kitsch that I'm sure are manufactured by the same Kitsch company that handles Chilis, Applebees, and old family diners everywhere. The "store" portion of the restuarant is covered in candy and black santas. The meatload is decent, the fries okay, the prices insanely cheap, and the biscuits are good with butter. But you know what? This isn't the best Cracker Barrel in the world. In fact, it's actually pretty bad. I've had better Cracker Barrel feed at the Barrel in St. Petersburg. This...this one wasn't too good. They do offer a map of every Cracker Barrel in the country. I should hit them all up.

It is what it is, I guess... I've always taken the meals at Cracker Barrel as what else should be expected for the price... While the service can be hit or miss sometimes. that's acceptable considering the amount of people that are seated at all times of the day... The waitresses do a decent job in my opinion.. My wife decided to go this morning for breakfast... We hadn't been here in quite awhile.. But the look on both of our faces while we took the first bite of our meals pretty much said it all.... Neither one of us were pleased... But we were more disappointed in our choice of where to eat than being disappointed at the establishment itself, if you know what I mean... Usually, if we get a so-so meal, we'd ask for a manager... In this case, I think we both realized that the meals here have been the same at all locations that we've ever been to... We just didn't choose the right place for what we wanted today.... Also, if we were gonna come here, lunch would have been a better option... I ordered pancakes with the peach topping, eggs over easy, and sausage patties... My wife had scrambled eggs, grits, sausage patties, some type of cooked apples, and biscuits with gravy... The majority of our meals were barely tasted... Plenty of food and serve hot... Just not much going on tastewise... In retrospect, I probably should have cooked at home... Nothing that they did was out of place or wrong.. We just realized that what was once tolerable, is no longer tolerable...lol... The funniest thing happened when I tasted my wife's biscuit with gravy, which she had no intention of eating... I swear that I wanted to vomit...lmao... It had the consistency of your typical gravy... but tasted more like flour, water, with black pepper.. in a wallpaper glue type of way... The meal was over at that point... Thanked and tipped the waitress, declined to have the meals boxed to go, had a laugh or two with the lady at the register, and headed to a park on the waterfront for a nice walk..... Not mad at ya Cracker Barrel... but you've seen our last dollar..
