Absolutely fantastic in every way possible. We've been dining here for years and every visit is outstanding. Lots of history with Tuckahoe Inn, great view from the main dining room and consistently fine food and service. Try the shrimp Vesuvius, the seafood combo or the broiled flounder. Just had the cracked pepper and garlic shrimp appetizer last time in and it was great. Plenty of garlic and drenched in melted butter. Plenty of parking and a good dock if you come by boat. Try the Key Lime Martini or the Grape Cosmo from the bar. Always a good selection of beer as well. In the winter this has to be the warmest or hottest fireplace at the shore. Also, they decorate for fall and for Christmas. Done in a tasteful and enjoyable design each year. Two Yums up for Tuckahoe Inn as well.

Nice location on the bay, but over-priced, very average food and a disinterested wait staff are major drawbacks. We ordered the Shrimp Vesuvius ($24.95) and a Vegetable Panini ($7.95). The shrimp dish was a disappointing collection of mostly rice. $24.95? C'mon. The best part of the Panini were the fries. Our water glasses were never re-filled. No reservations, so be prepared for a 45 minute wait if you visit in the summer, during the weekend, after 6 PM. Overall, disappointing visit. We won't return.

Terrible meal. Went here to eat on a Thursday night during the summer, and it was poor. It was loud, and crowded and overpriced. There is no good view of the outside bay from inside the dining room, which would have been helpful given that we weren't served our dinner entrees until 9pm for a 7pm reservation. I'm sorry, but if you are going to serve that many people in your restaurant, you should be ready to serve them in a timely manner. Below I've listed all the poor parts of our dining experience. 1. The poor service time as noted above. Not served our entrée until 9pm for 7pm reservation. 2. Took 15 minutes after being seated to be asked for our drink orders. 3. Specifically ordered Red Zin and got a White Zin instead. It took another 10-15 minutes to flag down our waitress to ask for a new drink. 4. One of our party order salmon and was notified 10 minutes later that they were out of salmon. Seems odd that a seafood place is out of a prime seafood dish for a 7pm sitting on a weeknight. The waitress also should have been aware of this prior to our ordering. 5. Packed, crowded dining room without much of a view. 6. Terribly high prices (entrees of $20-30) for the quality of the food. It wasn't poor food, but it wasn't creative either. A baked potato with a few slices of cut veggies placed on a plate is pretty boring for that price. 7. Poor service. Waitress didn't check in about the delays in our orders until 45 minutes after we ordered. 8. Filet was ordered medium rare. Came out as medium...maybe medium well. I'm guessing b/c it was sitting under a heat lamp waiting for the rest of the table's meals to be prepped in the kitchen. Really poor. With better service and a better kitchen they could seat 2/3 of the number of people, have a quicker turnover of patrons and provide a much better, less loud, less crowded, more attention-to-detail, and perhaps more creative dining experience. If it was this poor on a weeknight, I'd definitely avoid the place for a meal on the weekend.

My family and I were at the Tuckahoe in August for a family wedding. The ceremony was perfect and beautiful! The meal and service that we received was not. We had a great young guy and a cranky woman that were our servers. Our party was about 50 people. The drinks came out in a timely manner (expect 2 Shirley temples, more on that later) but when it came to dinner, it was a disaster. We had requested 5 vegetarian dishes, when we asked the woman server what it would be, she rolled her eyes and told us, " I don't know, whatever they have back there" O.k. fair enough. All the meals where brought out and the 5 vegetarian dishes were brought out late, in fact the guests where finished their meals when the old potatoes, green beans and I'm not sure what the chef was thinking when he concocted some sort of wilted spinach and red peppers in a greasy sauce. No one ate it. We had two 10 years old at the party. At the beginning when the woman server was taking the drink order, we requested the Shirley temples. They never came, so when we asked the woman server an hour later, she replied, "would you like hot food or the drinks?" Actually, we would like both was the reply!! She was very rude to us and we didn't let the bride and groom know how bad it was because we did not want to ruin their day. What a disappointed the Tuckahoe Inn you are. It is such a great location but the service is horrible. We did not see one manger the entire time our party was there. No one came to the bride and groom to see if everything was o.k. In fact the mangers office is right past the bathrooms and as I walked by, their were two of them, feet up, doing nothing. I hope this review kicks someone in the butt and this restaurant can change.

Was here twice in a week. Once Sunday for breakfast (they only have breakfast on Sunday's), and then Tuesday night for the Prime Rib and Crabcake special. Breakfast left something to be desired (pancakes and sausage links), but dinner, dinner more then made up for it. It was a jam packed Tuesday night and even with reservations (7:30), we had a few minute wait (wait time for walk ins was 45-1 hour) I had the crab and asparagus dip app, a side salad and the Prime Rib and Crabcake special (served with mashed potato and zucchini), followed with Devils food cake w/ chocolate mousse for desert. I was stuffed!! We had seven in our party, including 3 children and they made it flow with no problems. It was delicious, the service was great and I will be back.

Cute building and good food. Our server Andy was nice and helpful. We were comfortable bringing our 4 and 6 year old, and they had a kids menu. Loved the Cape May beer on tap yum!

Shout out to Tyler, our 5 star server. Food tonight was five star. Stuffed flounder, red snapper, fried oysters, clams casino. Great porch seats. We had a 6:30 reservation and they did not seat us till close to 7. Hey, no big deal and they were busy. Bravo to Tuckahoe Inn for a wonderful night when we were celebrating my mom's 86th.

We were there last night for a great evening of music from Scott Kirby. Like other Yelpers in these reviews Tuckahoe Inn could do better. We had chicken fajitas from the outdoor service grill/kitchen which were bland. The chicken looked frozen. The plastic packaging is difficult to understand in today's restaurant environment. Service is a saving grace. We have eaten inside and agree with other reviews that the food is old fashioned and just ok at a typical shore price tag. This place could be so much more. On the other hand, the locals and summer guests in Somers Point/Ocean City pack the place.

It was possibly the worst meal we have had in a long time. We wanted a nice meal before our daughter goes to college, made a reservation, waited and waited. It took over an hour for our meal to come out. Then the food was mediocre at best. A true disappointment. We would have been better off on the patio ordering hot dogs.

I have frequented the Tuckahoe many times over the years. Always good food and nice to have the option of fine dining, the inside porch area overlooking the bay or their outside patio area. The outside has a couple bars including a sailboat bar which is pretty cool. And there is usually live music outside as well. Another nice thing about the Tuckahoe is that you can go by boat. The family and I pulled up by boat and went over for lunch. My daughter forgot her flip flops and my other daughter forgot her shirt to cover her bathing suit. Since the outside area doesn't start serving til 1 pm, we were in a bit of a bind as we knew the girls couldn't eat inside due to the way they were dressed. The host was very nice and said he would see what he could do. He ran upstairs and returned with flip flops and a tshirt. Problem solved and a very nice gesture. We enjoyed a great lunch looking out on to the bay! We will be back soon...

This place is notable for its longevity and its commitment through the decades to delivering mediocre food at exorbitant cost - a special combination that one doesn't see that often, fortunately. If you think the whole good-tasting food thing is a fad and you have lots of money burning a hole I your pocket, then this is the place for you. Whether you are looking for an iceberg salad adorned with mealy tomatoes and watery dressing, a baked potato that has apparently been (boiled? bombarded with gamma rays?) to the point that it shrinks to the size of an egg, or a tasteless, relentlessly chewing-resistant steak that gives your jaw a crossfit-style epic workout, your tastebuds will be amazed... Stunned, really. And the service is unobtrusive; you will not be distracted by your... enjoyment... of your meal by a lot of tedious drink-refilling or bill-bringing. Did I mention it's on the water? Yes, as gourmet experiences go, this one is definitely water-adjacent. So I look forward to my next meal attempt there in 5-10 years, because memories fade and hey, it's on the water!

Had a great dinner with the family. Great fresh seafood. Kim was our waitress and she was awesome. From the moment we sat down and she greeted us she couldn't have been mire attentive. The food was great but Kim made our experience even better. Thanks for singing Happy Birthday to my Mom!

Been here before food is good, atmosphere casual right by the water. Nice. Great place to relax and grab a bite. Not too far from Cape May, NJ or Atlantic City, NJ. Overall a good spot to have a bite and relax.

Yes, the atmosphere is very nice....and with this prime location on the bay and its history, Tuckahoe Inn should be an easy 5 star restaurant. If you chose to sit outside for the view and live music, do not look forward to a good meal. Of course, being outside it was a bar menu which was fine with us but, the food was terrible. How hard is it to mess up nachos grande and a taco salad? To start with, in this day and edge of trying to cut pollution and waste, the food was served in closed plastic clear containers. Why not a little red reusable basket lined with paper? The taco salad had Herrs round Tortilla chips, cut up chicken that was neither cold nor hot, a scary room temperature... The nachos grande comes with no beef or chicken and included those Herrs chips. The additional tomatoes and pico de gallo came out of a can. Nothing was fresh but the lettuce that was cut up in too long stripes. Over the pass few years we have noticed the Tuckahoe Inn has looked for ways to cut their costs, but in doing so, the quality of their food has suffered but not the price you are charged.

After reading reviews decided to try the Tuckahoe Inn while on vacation in Avalon. We did call ahead which I do recommend as there would have been a wait otherwise. We had a great table on the porch. Our waitress had absolutely no time for us. When I ordered a drink off the menu she said she never heard of it and in 18 years has never served it. It was vodka, peach schnapps and cranberry juice- called a WooWoo. Really? Never? That was the beginning of the end. We both ordered the filet. I must say the filet was very good. Everything else was dismal at best. Canned mushrooms and canned green beens is not my idea of fine dining. Bernaise sauce was cold. When asked for some that was warm she said you can't heat it up because it would seperate. I could go on but suffice it to say we won't be back. The outside with live music and picnic tables would have been a better choice.

We're locals and have always received great service here. Our favorite bartender is Lisa during summer. She's been serving up great drinks for over 20 years! Ask for her if you come here!

Everything is great. Go here. The food and service is very good. It is a very attractive facility, menu selection is good, and food quality and taste is very good. Had been here sometime ago, and will be back sooner than we were.

We were there in August, party of 4. A 20 minute wait wss ok for a table on the porch--worth it not to be crammed in to their insude dining room. Tasty dinner salad. Clams and oysters on half shell were very fresh and tasty...BUT were mangled by whoever opened them and had not been completely opened with underneath muscles cut. Gross digging them out with a spoon. Waitress gave lame excuse ("They're really busy back there tonight."). Clam shucking should be good at a SHORE SEAFOOD restaurant. Overpriced--you pay for the atmosphere. Dry stuffed flounder for 23 bucks--extent of flavoring was a dusting of Old Bay. LONG wait at all stages of this dining experience. Friendly service. Sadly , the overall atmosphere makes one wish for the bygone days when it was actually a quality restaurant, and not mostly a tourist trap.

Early bird specials are good, back Bay is fun for a more beach vibe. Everyone talks about the view but it's just of a lagoon next to a big power plant (not my idea of a selling point). The food is good for the price, but be sure to make a reservation if you want to sit inside during the summer. Prime rib is the way to go, made in house- delicious.

Ate here on reggae night (Wednesdays all summer) Mahi tacos with lime sauce were very good. Fun and welcoming environment for the whole family!

The night of my mother's 95th birthday started out as horrendous! We went to Cape May to a restaurant that lost power and gave us nothing but bread. We bought a bottle of Chanmpagne to toast my mom's birthday. After an hour we decided to go to the Tuckahoe Inn and travel 30 minutes up the road in a torrential downpour to the Tuckahoe. Thank goodness we did. We had a very nice dinner with a lovely waitress, Carol. After dinner an asst. manager, Bobby, came out and and made an annoucement that it was Dorothy's 95th birthday! He brought the whole room into song, and everyone sang to my mother! Then as everyone left the people in the room all came over and congratulated my mother on her 95 years! It was the highlight of her birthday. Thank you Carol, and Boby for making this special birthday a huge success! Linda Sherman Henry's of OC

My boyfriend and I went here tonight for dinner unexpectedly. The service was great, there when we needed them and when we didn't we could enjoy our romantic evening together. I ordered the shrimp imperial filet ($26) and it was really delicious. It came with a salad or soup of the day, I got the salad with a delicious lemon poppy seed dressing. The topping on the filet was magnificent. And the mashed potatoes were reminiscent of a home cooked meal. My boyfriend had the surf and turf (market price I believe around $39) and he had a clean plate at the end. Our only complaint, and reason for a star missing is that both of our steaks were over cooked. I ordered mine medium and he ordered his rare and honestly I would have rather had his if it wasn't for the amazing crab and shrimp topping on mine to make up for it. Overall I would say this place is average priced for what you receive (atmosphere, great service, mostly good food) and best for date nights or other special occasions.

We came for dinner on a Saturday night in October... When reviewing a restaurant, you need to remember what you are reviewing.. Can I compare this place to Morton's or sparks? No... But they are not trying it those restaurants either... walked in to a pretty full place, with live music playing...great vibe, age of the guests were late 20's to 70's.. not a place I would expect to hang out till 2am, but a great place to grab dinner, have a few drinks and go home or out to a "real" bar. Wife had a prime rib and potatoes $24 (decent), I had a grilled chicken sandwich on toasted rye.. chicken was huge, tender, tasty... each had a domestic beer.. they served hot bread and the staff was friendly... with tip, it was $50... not bad at all.. good for what it is..

Seriously? If you want to open two restaurants then open two restaurants. Don't have a ridiculous dress code and serve decent food in one part and then shun the beach goers in tank tops and sandals to the back porch for $12 mahi mahi tacos served with a bag of Lays in a to go plastic container. Sub bar at best. Servers are nice when not standing around doing nothing.

Came here with high hopes... The oysters on the 1/2 shell were awesome but after that our high hopes quickly dwindled after the hour & a half wait for our entrees. We both ordered the broiled seafood platter... One of the specials was the broiled platter minus the lobster tail and I wish that's what we ordered because the lobster tails were like chewing on lobster flavored rubber. The bland butter did nothing to help the way over cooked crustaceans on our plates. The flounder was over cooked and flavorless, the veggies were definitely frozen from a bag. The scallops and shrimp were eh but the crab cake was tasty. After sitting for more than 10 minutes with empty water glasses I went and got the water pitcher and filled our glasses on front of the 5 waiters and host that were standing 4 feet away. We asked for the bill as soon as the food came. I figured that would speed up the closing process but our waitress walked by the tab with my card on top several times. She finally picked it up after our table was cleared. Horrible service & bad to mediocre food. Never coming back.

We were a party of two and both had the broiled seafood plate. The flounder was flavorless, the lobster was so overcooked a steak knife took several tries to separate it... The service was absolutely terrible. We actually refilled our own water twice, and waited an hour and 20 minutes to get our food. The salad had pieces of lettuce that were orange around the edges they were so old. The whole waitstaff looked confused and clueless. The oysters in the half shell from Cape May were good, or maybe we were so starving by the time they arrived that anything looked fabulous. Don't do it. This was $93 and 2hrs I'll never get back.

We choose to use our gift certificate dated 9/4/14 from our last visit the service was so awful we spoke up and the owner said please try us again and tell your friends so once again we tried sad to say déjà vu No one said hello as we walked in . I walked in to remove my sunglasses and replace with my glasses to see where we would to be seated on the porch or bar area a young girl hurried by (she was a hostess ) we were Told by another soft spoken woman employee to wait,we did and then finally after 10 people walked by, I took it upon myself to see where we could sit and I asked the young hostess, by the way we are still waiting to be seated I see a table available & she abruptly told me to wait again she was trying to figure if she had to move tables for later on...quite simply she could have sat us at the table of our choice. My husband is now telling the other woman our dilemma and our déjà vu of our bad experience last year she immediately apologized for the young woman and Seated us at the table of our choice. 20 minutes went by before a menu or a glass of water was even offered I began to look around the room and looking at the faces of all the people just sitting there wishing their food has been delivered to them. Two strikes on service or should I say lack there of. Food is just mediocre nothing to write home about or ever return. The bathrooms are quite small and severely outdated. With all the choices available and so many places that offer clean and friendly atmosphere with much better food why in the world would you ever go to the Tuckahoe Inn and I am local so for all the visitors find another place folks you will be better off.

OK, so heres the deal. I was looking forward to this place from the reviews and also the location, right on the bay. The nearby Rt. 9 bridge is closed for something, repairs, renovations, who knows. So really there is no traffic in the area, which was good. Made 6 o'clock reservations, seated by 6:10, so far so good. We get seated in the indoor dining room next to the window on the bayside, again, so far so good. We ordered the Cherry Pepper Calamari for appetizer and chicken fingers for the kids. They brought everything out together, which is what we asked for. So the kids proceed to devour the appetizer leaving me and the misses with zilch. So the manager walks by and asks how we are doing. I proceeded to tell him I was looking for my waitress to order another calamari. He said no problem, he would take care of it. Nice gesture, considering the place was packed. Five minutes later, fresh out the frier calamari. So, after eating it, I was very disappointed. For starters, they give you a side of diced up tomatoes and peppers for a topping. The rings were so small I told the kids they were onion rings. I asked our waitress, whom's name escapes me but was very nice and accommodating, if I could have a side of gravy. She asked if I wanted turkey gravy, which I smiled and chuckled and stated no, the red sauce, marinara??? She smiled and came right back with my request. Now, for dinner, I had the Seafood Cioppino, which consisted of lobster, shrimp, scallops, mussels and clams poached in a spicy fume sauce served with garlic bread. all for $28.50. I figured how could I go wrong with seafood at the seashore. How wrong was I! The mussels, and clams were the size of my son's pinky. the scallops were rubbery and the lobster tasted like dry, white bread. The fume sauce, what ever the heck that's suppose to be, tasted more like chicken broth. The whole dish was just bland. The only reason I am giving this place 3 stars was for the waitress and the managers accommodations. So, here I am. I by no means am bashing this place, because the outdoor atmosphere looked awesome. There was a live band playing and a small beach right behind them, which young kids were barefoot and playing in the bay surf. I think this place probably rocks more when you have your basic bar food, wings, burgers, beer, etc. I would definitely try here again and sit outside and go that route. It's a quick 15 minute ride from OC and worth a trip.

In search of a place to eat on Sunday night, we were lucky enough to stumble across this diamond in the desert. The food was everything we had hoped for and more. From the warm home made bread starter to the juicy crab cake entree. All of the seafood I had was great, I also ordered the clam casinos and chowder; both exceeding expectations. Even the accompanying sides offered more than expected, the vegetables were cooked to perfection and the tartare sauce had a fresh zing. As is if that wasn't enough, I managed to fit in the pecan pie - a tasty homemade morsel. As we washed all of this down with a glass of Cabernet, and overlooked the water, we couldn't help but note the ambience is more suited to the older crowd. This is probably attributable to the enticing before five menu. Although credit must be given for the outdoor area in front of the restaurant, complete with live band! If you're looking for a great way to finish off a day at the shore, you just found it.

Can't say enough about out back! The scene is as perfect as it gets for the jersey shore. Pull your boat up or in our case jet skis and stop and see billy at the outside bar! Inside was more formal our server Kim was excellent, very professional and friendly. Definitely a spot to stop at with the family for reasonably priced food/drinks, we'll be back for sure.

We really enjoyed this place for lunch. Quite reasonable for a place that looks like it could be expensive. The girls gave high marks to the chicken Caesar salad and chicken fingers/french fries. Dave and I shared the crab cake sandwich and were pleased. The view of the bay is excellent.

We have been going to the Tuckahoe for years and years with generally good outcomes. Our last visit however was quite disappointing. We had the oysters Rockefeller for an appetizer and they were so overcooked the Bernaise sauce was like eating an egg yolk. The oysters themselves were so incorrectly shucked that we had trouble getting them out of the shell. The vegetarian soup was excellent ; however, it was served tepid. For me, soup has to be piping hot. The fillet mignon was also served just lukewarm, as was the baked potato. The butter wouldn't even melt. Since the whole dinner was not served at an appropriate temperature I decided to just make a mental note of the disappointment and eat my meal rather than send back. It probably would have been thrown in a microwave anyway. When we brought up the oysters Rockefeller not being cooked properly we were treated as if we didn't know what we were talking about. Why can't servers understand that patrons do know what they are talking about (especially since we've had them on numerous occasions ) and not talk down to you. Very annoying. Bread pudding was superb. Very disappointing and the server was condescending. I understand they have a relatively new chef. Maybe he needs more time.

So, we had a great waitress. She took care of us after a very trying ordeal. It took almost two hours for us to get our food. I have no idea why. The waitress fought for us though. She spoke to several managers- we received complimentary appetizers. And she was able to get more than 40% off our bill because of the wait. The food was very good. I had the broiled seafood platter. The lobster was a little dry. Otherwise very good. The clam chowder was excellent! I do recommend this place. Overall, we had a really hard time finding an "awesome" place to eat down at the shore. Disappointing.

We had 8:00 reservations on a Thursday night and felt it might be a rough night when we were told we had to wait and heard many people complaining about their hour and a half wait without reservations. We then heard a woman complain to the manager that they waited over an hour to be seated and an hour for their food and they could wait no longer. The manager sympathized and did not make her pay for their drinks or apps and said some new people in the kitchen were not able to handle the busy time. We were seated at 845 and our server was pretty prompt with our drinks, taking our order and soups and salads though it took her 10 minutes to tell us they were out of clam chowder. Then we waited and did not get our entrees until after 10pm. We did not complain but the same manager came over and apologized for our long wait and told us she would adjust our bill to compensate us and gave the same excuse we heard earlier that there were some new people in the kitchen. Then she never adjusted our bill. We did not complain as the food was excellent when we finally got it but overall this place tries to serve many more people than they can handle.

Service Excellent, Food Not So Much - Everything that came out of the kitchen was cold and salted to hell and back. Totally ruined what might have been a decent dinner. Staff was very kind, but overall the experience was lousy.

Quaint NJ spot-been there for years-terrific views of bay-cute outside liquor bars and snack bars. Good homemade food inside the restaurant. Good seafood combination-good crab cakes. My prime rib was a little on the plain side-but it was freshly roasted and served the way I like it. Good sides. Get the bread pudding for dessert-it's homemade and delicious. This place is an EXCELLENT value for a seashore place.

Had reservations and were promptly seated. Was with a large group and food came out super fast. Almost too fast. Service was a bit below average. Had to borrow drinks from others to consume my appetizer. Was only able to get 1 refill during entire dinner. Had buffalo shrimp app with bleu cheese dressing. Not bad. Hey its buffalo sauce. Had seafood cioppino with spicy fume sauce. Probably the worst seafood preparation I have tasted. Actually it was almost tasteless. Tasted like scallops, lobster and shrimp boiled in low sodium chicken broth. Chewy scallops. Lobster tail had the consistency of rubber. Looked like it was boiled a bit too long. I had this notion you would get decent seafood by the ocean. I was wrong. Been there a few other times and will probably not return.

Me and my girlfriend got hungry walking around the cape May zoo all day at one point we thought we heard the lions roaring but It was actually my tummy saying "feed me." We checked yelp for restaurants close by and saw the good reviews for tuckahoe so we made that our destination. Upon arriving we were at awe by the amazing view of the bay that we saw in the back of the restaurant. When we entered the host took us right to a window table with the most amazing view. I ordered the crab cakes and clam chowder which both were amazing and my girlfriend ordered the salmon and it was cooked to perfection. Our waitress was so kind. We live all the way in marlton New Jersey but we will definitely be planning a trip back here soon.

The boyfriend and I decided to have a nice dinner our last night down the shore, so he suggested heading over to the Tuckahoe Inn for some seafood. If you've never been there before, I have these two pieces of advice to share with you: 1. Make a reservation 2. Parking is absolutely terrible. If you actually get a spot in the lot, then the gods were smiling upon you that day. (Parking that night at the Tuckahoe gave me more anxiety than parking in Philadelphia for three years ever did.) Now that that's out of the way - we had 7:30 dinner reservations, but wanted to get seated on the porch (it has a lovely view), so we weren't able to get a table until 8ish. For appetizers, we decided on the cherry pepper calamari and crepe de mer (shrimp, scallops, and crab in a crepe with a creamy sauce). Both appetizers were delicious! The calamari wasn't just deep fried pieces of chewy - you could taste the freshness of the fish paired with the zesty salsa. Really, really good. The crepe was also tasty - it's also an entree, so I would consider getting that as my main course next time. I cannot tell you enough how fresh the fish was. My entree, however, was a little disappointing. I was between the seafood risotto and the veal and shrimp marsala. I asked the waiter what he recommended and he said definitely the risotto, so I went with that. The seafood part was delicious, well-cooked, and super fresh (like I mentioned already); the risotto was a little clumpy and way salty. It sort of ruined my meal. On the other hand, my boyfriend got the regular cut prime rib and made it "black and blue" (they added Cajun spices, with blue cheese and lump crab). His meal was definitely better and it was huge! We were joking about how big the prime rib king cut must be after seeing the monstrosity the regular cut was. All-in-all, the Tuckahoe Inn was pretty good, but it definitely wasn't amazing. I would consider going back in the future for some seafood and avoid anything pasta/risotto.

Got there around 6:30 in season and was told 20 minute wait for a table of 3, in my mind that is nothing. Free popcorn while you wait, decided 10 minutes in to go to the bar. Ordered a Cape May Brewing Co Beer and 2 glasses of wine for the ladies. We ordered appetizers at the bar and by the time they were ready we we ready to be seated, Perfect timing, Ordered the Clams Casino, they were huge with bits of peppers and bacon. The were delicious. Our waiter Andy was awesome he was very entertaining and always came to check up on us. I ordered the Chicken Francaise and my wife and my mother in law ordered the crab cake. My only complaint was with my Chicken was supposed to be a pomme croquette. I was very disappointed when Andy brought out my meal and I had red bliss potatoes. I quickly said Hey Andy where are my croquettes. HE replied 86'd sir, but I can get you smashed potatoes or a baker if you like. I was fine with the ones on my plate just wish I was given a little heads up before I had to ask. However the Chicken was delicious, and the lemon butter sauce was a huge hit, i kept dipping my potatoes and veggies in it. The ladies loved their crab cakes, they were huge and full of crab. We were so full we passed on Dessert. Service and price were outstanding! I would eat here again and again as there are many items on the menu I would like to try. I just hope they have the pomme croquettes next time!

Great French Onion soup, not very good Calamari. Service was good and atmosphere was nice. Fun outside area with live music and a bar, views of the bay.

Worst breakfast I think I've ever had! Went here because was recommended by my friends but boy had it changed! Nice scenery but the cook should just leave! My eggs Benedict was incorrectly cooked, sauce was horrible n nonexistent! Potatoes had onions n peppers so what if I was allergic n the kids wouldn't even touch them! Pancakes the kids got were thick n hard like a large hockey puck n tasteless! My bf got a crab omlet that sucked n cost $16! The total bill was $65! If the food would have been good I wouldn't have cared! The waitrons knew we were tourists n didn't care about us! We walked in to an employees baby there n everyone making a fuss over it n not caring about us or being professional! The table next to us had regulars at it n were the center of attention! Our wait or would disappear for long periods of time! Maybe he was in the back sneaking a cig or cooking our horrible food! Better food at mcds! Very upset! I work hard for my Money this was like flushing it down the toilet!

We went for a birthday dinner. It was my first visit and dinner was very good! The servers and manager were supper nice. Though we didn't get a table near the window for the view, we had a good time. My red snapper was excellent. Coconut cake a bit dry and too sweet. Decaf coffee superb. It's a nice quaint place.

Great view of the bay, fantastic server ( thanks Rachel!), and fresh - expertly prepared seafood made for the perfect Saturdqy dinner at the Tuckahoe Inn. The Cape May brewery IPA could not have been more fresh or delicious. Could not ask for more!

This is one of my favorite places when visiting Ocean City. I called ahead since know they get crowded. My advice would be got make a reservation a week in advance if you can and ask for the porch seating. But as with us, when at the seashore, you get lost in time and never know what you are doing when. When we arrived, they told us it would be a few minutes. Within 2 minutes, we were seated in a small dining room off the main dining room which disappointed me because we could see everyone coming in the front door as well as everyone waiting and looking in on us through the glass window while we were eating. We were there before 5 for the early bird dinner. You get a choice of soup or salad, coffee or tea, entree, and a choice of about 10 desserts. We always opt for the famous homemade warmed bread pudding with a butterscotch sauce that is to die for. Our entrees consisted of stuffed flounder with a crab cake, and the crab cake dinner. It was our most enjoyable dinner that week and very reasonably priced. Definitely recommend the TUCKERHOE INN and will return! Don't forget the reservations and there is plenty of parking.

Horrible service-came on busy night but was in no rush to eat. Inquired to waitress and manager who told us "why would you make reservations on a Saturday night?" I will NEVER go here again and I am local year round. Owner is rude and the staff is terrible. U were warned

There is a definite bonus to having your wedding anniversary the same week the extended family goes on vacation at the shore...it's an excuse to get away from the busyness of 18 adults and kids, and get away for a good meal with my wife. Last year's restaurant of choice was Docs...you can refer to my yelp review for that fiasco...so a year later, for anniversary #14, off we went to the Tuckahoe Inn. The setting should have been awesome, but a cold wind kept the patrons off the deck tonight...but fairly quick seating yielded us a table at the windows, overlooking the bay. Service was friendly, and drinks came quickly, as did the appetizer, crab and artichoke dip- which was good. And it was a good thing we ordered it, as the dreaded "Anniversary Dinner Curse" descended upon us, once again...we ended up in the vortex of lost, stolen, or forgotten meal orders. We sat, and sat, and digested the crab dip, and sat. The tide rolled in. The cell came out in bordom. Bread basket was emptied, then eaten. Ice was chewed. The tide rolled out. Tables around us were cleared and new faces arrived. Finally, the waitress came out, apologetic, explaining something about a dinner party getting their meals, and a few minutes later the meals arrived. Crab cakes of the wife were good, and my veal and shrimp marsala was likewise solid. No complaints about food quality. Had apologies been turned into complimentary desserts... Like last year, the wait is a mixed blessing...it's like being stranded in one of the nicest places available, and considering the busy days on the beach with kids ahead, maybe I should be sending the Tuckahoe a note of thanks. Being kept in our parental "time out" was not all bad, and I enjoyed time alone with my wife. So, we'll call this one a draw. Were I impatient, stuck with someone who annoys, in a hurry to be somewhere else, or ravenously hungry, perhaps I'd have something to really complain about. But tonight, all is well and all is forgiven.

My husband and I came here based on a friends recommendation. We had reservations and were seated on the porch. It was very noisy and took our server Karen, ten minutes to bring our iced tea and diet coke after we ordered them. When she was ready to take our order, I Asked for her recommendation and she said the crab cakes. I asked if they were all crab and replied jumb lump crab with a little filler. Crab cakes came out nicy browned on top but kind of burnt on bottom. First bite tasted like stove top stuffing. I found one small piece of lump crab and picked around. These were more than half filling. I was very disappointed. Picked through second crab cake which had even less crab meat. Server never asked how food was nor questioned why so much was left on my plate. Will NOT return.

I went there with my family about 14 of us. We wanted to be on the deck area since we had little kids with us and they could run around out there. We really love the ambiance and the staff is amazingly friendly! I'm giving 3 stars for a few reasons. If you eat on the deck you are Limited to a very small food menu. This made it very difficult since my father who was with us is vegan and there was nothing for him to eat. They did say that we could order food inside as take out and eat it outside on the deck ( they had a vegan option inside). Since there was not much on the menu for the outside most of my family ended up doing the take-out option and this got a little frustrating since we had to run inside at different times to pick up our orders, making it so that we could not really eat all together at the same time. We could not make sense of it that there were different menus for the inside and the outside. I would come back here again and if I came back I would eat inside and then maybe head outside after dinner for a nightcap.

I'll admit the reason I wanted to eat here was because the restaurant's name is Tuckahoe Inn. Tuck a ho in... I mean come on, I love it. No disrespect to the Native American tribe it's named after, it's just the best restaurant name in the history of restaurant names. Would the food make me smile as much as the name? Yeah, it was pretty good. We stopped in for lunch and I had a cobb salad that was tasty, my husband had some stuffed flounder with jalapeno lime mayonnaise (he loved it), my brother had some pasta that my whole family really loved, my dad enjoyed his pulled pork, and I can't remember what everyone else had. The portions were very large for the price. I was surprised that 6 of us ate for about $60. And the two larger entrees came with dessert. My husband and I shared the bread pudding and I was in heaven. Amazing. My brother had some peanut butter pie. Not really my thing, but I'd go back for the bread pudding alone. So my sixth grade sense of humor drew me in and the tasty food made sure I'll be back at some point (I'm not a local, so it'll have to be when I'm visiting again). I'm curious to see how their breakfast will be. It's only on Sundays, but I'm hoping to try it next time I'm in the area.

I went here because of all the good reviews I've seen. Service is very slow and not very friendly. Calamari was good but very small portion. Not sure if it's my fault for ordering it but the strip steak was the worst steak I've had in my life. I could barely cut it The cheesesteak that I eat on the boardwalk tomorrow will be better quality beef than this. My wife had a shrimp dish and thought it was terrible too. The view was nice but if I ever come here again, I'll just drink outside and eat somewhere else on the way home

This rating is based on previous visits to this restaurant. We had a party of six. Five people were extremely happy with their entrees. I was not. I ordered something I never had before the veal and shrimp Marsala. I asked for no scallions and would have ordered no onions as well, but the menu made no reference to onions being in the dish. My entree comes out and it was covered in scallions and onions. It was to the point of not being able to scrap them off. I rarely if ever send a dish back but I decided that this was a $25 plate and I wasn't going to eat it. The waitress was really good about taking the dish back. So it comes back out again about 15 minutes later. The veal tastes extremely overcooked and I believe they used the same veal from the previous entree. I eat the shrimp and mushrooms and some of the veal but I decide that it's not worth the calories to finish the veal. The waitress asks about my entree after I asked to take it away. She asked if it was good and I said not really. She went straight to the manager and took it off the check. All in all I will return to this restaurant because they have amazing entrees including crab cakes, stuffed flounder and filet Mignon. I just won't ever order the veal again.

Food: 2 stars (and this is being nice) Going out for some drinks at night: 4 stars Definitely don't eat here. You pay for the view, not for the food. The only thing I ate that was good was the spinach salad. The service wasn't bad, I ate the stuffed flounder and my boyfriend had the filet. We were underwhelmed. There was nothing special about the food, it was like something I could make at home. My boyfriend did not like the steak at all, and didn't finish it. To hang out out at night to drink and listen to some live music is why you want to go to Tuckahoe Inn. Don't waste your time on dinner.

I considered Tuckahoe a quandary (in a good way) when my husband and I ate there for our Anniversary while vacationing in Ocean City. I considered Tuckahoe upscale dining with a low-key atmosphere. Let me explain. Upscale: The menu at Tuckahoe could easily rival some of the nicest restaurants we have here in the city. Scallops, stuffed fish, filet, mussels, oysters, etc. We had the white wine mussels, oysters Rockefeller, their soup of the day, a side salad, the baked seafood combination, and filet. Everything that my husband and I ordered was wonderfully prepared. We were very impressed. In addition, our server did a great job of walking the fine line between attentive and annoying. Low Key: Though Tuckahoe's menu and food quality would place them on even footing with any of the amazing restaurants my husband and I found ourselves missing a couple of the luxuries other places have. First, the wine list left something to be desired. Overall the choices were scarce and I was disappointed that I couldn't get a dessert wine (like a Muscato). Second, they only had these little wine glasses (the size we tend to use for dessert wines) and they filled them to the brim. My husband is a self-proclaimed glass-snob, no matter if it is wine or beer, so I think this issue bothered him more than it did me. Lastly, I was having a dirty-martini and I would have killed for a blue cheese stuffed olive (which they didn't have). Just a couple of these little luxuries would have taken Tuckahoe to the next level. Overall, I was very impressed and my husband and I would recommend it to anyone visiting the area looking for a nice restaurant over the bridge.

"Hoe Does the Trick" You won't go 'round the world. You won't be shown new tricks. But Tucka Hoe will treat you nice and meet your basic needs for cheap-- with a few flourishes tucked into the mix to keep you interested. Our recent lunch of crab melts and turkey sandwiches was delivered as promised but our meals were lackluster with some cymbal crashes of undelicious. White clam chowder with bacon was the texture and flavor of a seasoned hoe: chunky pudding and smoked animal fat. A side salad of mildly crunchy iceberg tried to get fancy with a few petals of baby spinach. However a good dollop of homemade russian dressing took the upstart tang right out of the spinach and brought the dish back to doing what it does best. The bread basket was a standout: soft, eggy challah-like wads, perfect for wiping down soup bowls and the like. A lunch special of open-faced crab melts on english muffin offered a satisifying broiled cheesy tug, though the crab cake middle tasted fishy when my tongue wanted crabby. My dining companion's turkey bacon sandwich was gross on all counts: the turkey was Oscar Mayer slice-quality, and the bacon was pulsing with fake smoke flavor. It went uneaten. Fries came in two varieties: the weirdly double-fried coated kind, which were served cold and old -- we sent those right back to the dumpster without a peep of complaint from the server. The others were garden-variety bowling alley-from-a-bag quality. Freshly prepared, promptly forgotten. The view from our table (see photos) offered a soothing distraction from the mouthfeel and flavors. Something to gaze upon while getting the job done. No trick is complete without a few bells and whistles. At the Hoe these include (see photos): a large, Cheers-like bar to pickle the locals as they crisp by the fire, an olde tyme popcorn maker, a "nostalgic" Native American chief totem pole, an old fashioned anything-goes urine trough, and some wicked-cool font. When you're done at the Hoe, you won't leave licking your lips, but you'll have gotten your meal.

We go there mainly for the entertainment. Bob Campanel is a one man musical tour de force! Great voice and huge selection of songs. There's no cover and no minimum so we leave a good tip for Bob. As to the food - it's good and fairly priced. Since I love fried oysters and they always have them I'm happy. My wife and our friends are more adventuresome and are consistently happy with their meals. In the summer they have Bob entertain outside and have lots of picnic style tables out. The outside menu is different. Inside it's more fine dining, outside it's burgers, etc. The outside food is just OK. I'd like to see them up the quality and selection of food outside and would be glad to pay a premium. The outside venue is right on their beach with great water views. Nice place to spend a summer evening. Just come early, the tables fill up quickly.

I don't really know New Jersey as a whole that well but I was in Ocean City yesterday and a friend of mine raved about this place so we went. It's definitely a hot sport because the restaurant was packed and even with reservations the wait was long! The decor is nothing fancy but the food is very good! I ordered the seafood risotto and my friend ordered a grilled salmon. Both plates were delicious! Both plates came with a soup or salad and they gave us plenty of bread to hold us over! Out waiter was awesome and took great care of us through out the meal! It's definitely a great place to check out!

Thinking that for the reasonable Price Points, the food was pretty good. Raw Clams good crisp as expected. Shucked cleanly. Salad was fresh, cold and the dressing was prepared well. Veal was a hardy portion, cooked to tender, very good. Catch of the Day was grouper with 4 Shrimp. Very good. Not over bearing, tender and moist. Service was personable and efficient. Atmosphere was clean and attractive. Fatty says Thumbs Up!!! So much better than the Crab shlt Trap.

Great location and nice ambiance as well as good service. However, the food was not good at all. There were six of us and none of us had a good meal. I have no plans of returning unless I hear that they have a new chef.

Yuck!!! Nothing nice to say about our family dinner at this restuarant. The food was terrible. I had a better filet at outback. Mussels had a terrible taste and we found a rock attached to one. The only item done well was the grilled cheese sandwich and french fries my young daughter had. The service was terrible too. Drinks seemed to be watered down. We will never return. BTW - the dinning room is a step back to the sixties.

Dined there on 8-2-13. First time eating there. We were smart enough to make reservations. The place was packed with large groups. Our poor server was overwhelmed. Food was good. I had the Opah special. Very disappointed with the sides. The potatoes were cold and they served me only 3 green beans and 2 broccoli florets. Thank goodness the fish was outstanding or I would have given less stars. I don't think I'll go back. Not worth battling tourist and crowds.

We have been here so many times.... and we've had some good meals. Here's the deal: It's close to the Southend of Ocean City - so when we want to go out to dinner and have some drinks, it's kind of our "go to" spot. Plus, they take a reservation - which is hard to come by at the shore. Can be a bit pricey for dinner. Am I overwhelmed? No. But since Anchorage doesn't take ressies, we tend to go to the Tuckahoe when we want to take the family to dinner. Can't speak for off-season

you walk in to a cloud of smoke from the staff smoking in front of the building, and if that didn't turn you away from this Horrible place, the wait times will. food took two hours and was over cooked, ended up no longer eating the food and went to McDonalds up the road.. such a waste of money

Go for the early bird dinner before 5 p.m. for a great value. Bay view on the porch is worth a wait. If only the muzak was turned off. Dining with 80s hits doesn't add ambience.

I was so pleasantly surprised by this place. The inside dining room is kind of out-dated looking, and the place is crawling with more senior citizens than a nursing home, but it doesn't even matter because the food is excellent. So often places like this are just so average. But all of the food we ordered was cooked perfectly and delicious. We were there at prime time on a saturday night during the summer and they still delivered an excellent meal. I had the salmon oscar. I don't know about you but I've had plenty a dried out piece of salmon at various restaurants but not here. It was divine! This place also has a wonderful out side setting, great for some beers by the bay. Oh another plus- call ahead seating! a great time saver during the summer months.

the view is amazing! we alsways go here after a funeral (don't ask), so there's that. the crab cakes are great, as is the chowder. it's old school, if a little rickety, a nice shore restaurant. it looks like it would be a lot of fun on the weekends--they have a boat outside that's made into a bar! staff is great. a solid 3 star

For drinks and waterside ambiance, this is a great place. This review is about the breakfast I experience this past Sunday. Oh my god, it was awful. DO NOT waste your money here. I ordered a short stack and a side of fresh fruit. What I got were two sad little flat pancakes with a slice of orange garnish that wouldn't satisfy a small child, and an out of season fruit cup with pineapple and grapes (it's June, people, can I get some berries? I'll pay extra). The straw that broke the camel's back: the shop rite teabag. Please.

We hosted a private party for ~20 guests at Tuckahoe Inn. Matt (event manager I presume) was extremely helpful and accommodating in coordinating the event. Service was excellent and the food was tasty for a very reasonable price. I would definitely recommend Tuckahoe Inn for events, parties, etc.

We just enjoyed a delicious seafood dinner at the Tuckahoe Inn. Besides the coziness of being on the water, the ambience, the host, Matt and server, Cory rocked. They made the evening complete and a ton of fun. Thank you. We will be back!

I've been to the Tuckahoe Inn three times when I've been spending the week in Ocean City and it's been great all three times. I've never had a wait, the service has been good, and no one I've been there with has ever been disappointed by their meal. I love that they have a lot of variety on their menu. You can order stuffed flounder or chicken fingers in the dining room and no one will bat an eye.

Tuckahoe Inn advertises itself as casual family friendly dining although I always enjoyed going there for quiet, romantic late night meals with my husband (before we had kids!) It would have never occurred to me to take my kids there because it has nice ambiance. The Tuckahoe Inn is a historic inn dating back to the 1700's and has a series of dining rooms and a bar. My favorite place to sit is the sun porch with a view of the bay. There's also a bar, which you should count on spending some time in because the wait for a table is usually pretty long. Don't go there starving and then be mad about the wait because I'm telling you now. I've enjoyed every experience I've had there. There menu is upscale American food and seafood. I've always enjoyed their wine & chicken dishes with steamed veggies on the side. I've read negative reviews elsewhere on the internet and am mystified by what I read. I've only ever had a great meal at the Tuckahoe Inn.

A great little place right on the bay - most tables have a great view of the water. They serve mostly seafood entrees but also have chicken, steak and pasta. Cozy atmosphere, great around the Holidays (Get the bananas foster that they only have around Christmas - you won't regret it)- it's always so nicely decorated. I usually get the black and blue special when I go - blackened prime rib topped with crab meat and a blue cheese sauce - so good! They have a full bar inside and a cabana bar outside. It's also great for special group events.

  • Ellen A.

On our most recent visit, we were seated in the dining room almost immediately but then our foursome waited over an hour for our entrees. The food was excellent but the wait will certainly discourage us in the future. Previous visits were wonderful.
