My 13 yr old daughter was invited to a Bat Mitzvah at Vanity Fair. The host made a point of asking if they could accommodate a guest with celiac disease and provide a safe gluten free meal-they said they could absolutely provide that. The the week of the event I called and spoke with Janice , the banquet manager and said that my daughter has celiac and will be a guest on Saturday. I asked if they would provide a gluten free meal, or did I have to send food for my daughter. Janice told me there would be no problem, they would provide my daughter with a gluten free meal when the main course was served and if she asked for Jennifer during the cocktail hour she would make sure she had food then. Well, Jennifer pointed out a platter of cheese with crackers on it-Hello crackers for someone that has celiac, how ignorant can you be- and when the main course came out and my daughter looked for her meal, no one gave her her food. She went to an event and they let a 13 year old be there all day with no food. Shame shame shame on vanity fair. Janice the banquet manager was called after the event and just made a bunch of excuses and said she didn't know what happened. It was her responsibility to personally make sure that someone that called ahead of time for a special meal was provided that service. My daughter has other parties at vanity fair coming up and I will be delivering food for her when they eat, I would not trust an establishment that cant even do 1 thing that they assured everyone they would. BIG FAT thumbs down for Vanity Fair. If you have celiac do not eat there!
