I have been to That's Amore a couple of times now and I am hooked on the gnocchi and meatballs. It is really difficult to find a good meatball and even harder to find one that is excellent. I found it! I now get them as a takeout order with sauce (which is also really good. They also have a dish there called "Sunday Gravy" which has pork, veal and beef which is hearty flavorful. Bring a nice bottle of wine and enjoy I am sure you will like it.

This is one of our go to, super favorite spots especially when we are in the mood for Italian. As other people have mentioned this place is small and tables are close together, definitely recommend making a reservation. Despite the tables being close there always seems to be enough background noise where you aren't listening to other people's conversations. All meals here start out with fresh bread that comes out piping hot, accompanied by their Sunday Gravy to dip your bread in. This is such a yummy start to the meal. We have tried a lot of menu items and some of our favorites are the goat cheese pillow of the day, the Arancini (tastes just like what we had in Rome), and the Caesar salad. My must have every time we are here is the house made fettuccine with vodka sauce and add grilled veggies. I love this vodka sauce so much, it's my favorite. I really have no branched out to a lot of the other entrees because I don't want to miss out on this sauce. The servings are large and I always have leftovers to enjoy for the next day. My husband especially loves coming for Macaroni and Cheese month, their version with shrimp and jalapenos is his favorite. They offer special multi-course dinners for holidays like New Years Eve, Valentine's Day, and a brunch on Mother's Day. We try to take advantage of these when they pop up because the menus are always outstanding and offer treats that are not always found on the menu. We really enjoyed their take on brunch when we went for Mother's Day, it was a mix of breakfast foods along with Italian specialties. Since it's in Collingswood it is BYOB, so make sure to bring a bottle of wine with you to complete the meal.

That's Amore is one of the most complete and satisfying dining experiences in this fiercely competitive Collingswood area. I went with the parents yesterday for my birthday dinner and was not disappointed! The waiter was personable, knowledgeable, and was able to come at the right times within the small restaurant setting. The restaurant's ambiance fully encapsulates a traditional Italian atmosphere. After we ordered, a fresh and burning hot loaf of bread was put on the table with a dish their signature Sunday Gravy. Even if I was a traumatized burn victim, I wouldn't be able to stop eating the perfect hot bread and 5 star sauce. We were so satisfied with the basket of bread that we almost forgot about our actual dinners. They were able to happily accommodate my mom's dietary restrictions for her salmon and build my father's shrimp covered tilapia to perfection. I had a massive and mouthwatering chicken parmesian cutlet with bowl of divine angel hair pasta. The bill before tip was a very reasonable $62 for the 3 dinners with a special $10 birthday coupon I brought. tl;dr Excellent traditional Italian experience. 5 stars. On a side note, I brought a first date here 2 years ago and they brought us a complementary bottle of wine after they found out. Fantastic service is never forgotten!

For starters the service was excellent. Our waiter and other members of the staff we interacted with were friendly and attentive. For an appetizer we got the rice balls, which I would definitely recommend. For the main course we got penne Alfredo and chicken carbonara which were both delicious. My favorite part of the meal however was the bread and red gravy they give you.

The good: We went at 6 o'clock on a Friday night and it wasn't crowded. Tables are tight, as mentioned in other reviews, but it's Center City tight. Conner waited on us and he was prompt and friendly. The Sunday gravy sauce tasted homemade and was light. The bad: I feel about cooking the way I feel about art work: if I could've done a better job, I'm dissatisfied. Mind you, I'm not a great cook either. We had the rice balls, the chicken marsala, veal parm and risotto with pancetta and peas. The risotto was like spackle and probably had a stick of butter in it. Would I like to take it home? Only if I need to do drywall repair. Although I didn't order it, isn't it criminal to pay $23 for mac and cheese?

Our family hosted a private afternoon party at That's Amore yesterday. Everything was fantastic! Alfredo, the owner, was wonderful to work with from the first time I called to inquire about the party until the minute the party ended! The rest of the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I have never had a bad meal at That's Amore and the party was no different. We chose the "Chefs Table" and ALL of the food was delicious! The rice balls are amazing and the chicken marsala was the best I have ever tasted! Our guests were full of compliments! Highly recommend!

We came here to celebrate my boyfriend's father's birthday and I fell in love with the place. Adorable, eclectic atmosphere. BYOB is a plus. Their menu is classic Italian; with a slight twist... there is something for everyone. We went on the Thursday before Labor Day at 6pm and there were a few other tables when we were sat. It looked like they were well staffed for the size of the dining room; but there was a very big party of 12 on the other side of the restaurant. As the night went on the rest of the place started to fill up; and the service became extremely slow. Back in college I served at restaurants for many years; so I am very forgiving to this sort of thing; but there were full 10-15 minute periods where our server was either MIA; or had forgotten to bring something. A simple, 'I will be right with you' or an acknowledgement is always appreciated, and we did not receive any of that from any of the servers, or the food runner (who I believe was actually the owner himself). Side note: bread did not come out until we were mid-way through our meal. But the food... was AMAZING. We got the double order of arancini as an appetizer; and these were legit rice balls. Piping hot to the touch, and cutting through to release the heat and the oozy cheese inside. For my meal, I ordered the Peach Tilapia served over Shrimp Risotto. Many refer to me as a 'food snob' (I know what I like)-- and I truly appreciate a good risotto (which is very hard to come by). Their risotto was ON POINT. My boyfriend and his father ordered the Sunday Gravy... the sauce was rich, and slightly sweet and the pork on the bone was MELT IN YOUR MOUTH. We had brought our own cake for the birthday boy (A jerk move to bring dessert to a restaurant, I am aware; but it was his 'favorite' homemade carrot cake in which his wife knew she couldn't order for him). Upon seeing we brought our own cake; they served and cut up for us which was very nice of them, but we were never asked if we would like tea or coffee (which all 4 of us were planning on ordering), and by the time we were able to flag our server down, we all had finished our cake and just asked for a refill of water. I honestly I would have given this place 5 stars solely based on their risotto, but I had to take a star away for the consistently slow service. I cannot stress enough that I understand being swamped or being overwhelmed by another big party as a server- and I am also not a diner who likes to be rushed while eating... but the service was just so painfully slow I could not overlook it for this experience. In the end, I took away amazing leftovers and an empty bottle of wine. I would love to return here.

Fresh pasta is always good! It's a neat little place inside as well. I like that you can make your own pasta dish which is pretty unique. I however, probably went a little overboard by getting the fresh pappardelle pasta "Forno" style with meatballs. It was very tasty, but there was a TON of cheese. And i love cheese, but it was a very heavy dish. Not a complaint, just a warning if you order it that way, you better be hungry. My wife got the sausage gnocchi as part of "Gnocchi Month". I eneded up eating them for lunch the next day. So good! Service was decent. We'll definitely be back.

You know you've fallen in love with a restaurant when it's where you take guests when they visit your town, and That's Amore is that place for us. The food is just so honest, rich, and tasty here that we just keep coming back. They have a lot variety on the menu, and everything I've tried has been good. What I personally love the most is the area where you pick a pasta and a sauce to make your own dish. The sauce I'm most obsessed with is the pistachio cream sauce, which I've never seen this sauce anywhere else. I most often pair with orecchiette and because their portions are so big, I often have enough to take home. That said, last night I tried the tortellini in an alfredo sauce, and it was really good too. Overall I don't really think you can do wrong here. This is a very solid restaurant with great food and an awesome corner spot for watching life go by on the avenue.

I love this place! The Sunday Gravy was amazing! They do treat you like family and every dish has a story! This is a Italian spot I will be going back to and bringing someone new every time. BYOB is great. Their Mac and Cheese is amazing, I've had two types and no complaints yet! I would recommend this place to my mother.

This was our first trip to that's Amore, and it will not be our last. The Sunday dinner is incredible and huge. I brought half of it home. I haven't had my own leftovers since birth. The decor is fantastic and its a BYOB. This is where you want to be in Collingwood, NJ.

The service was terrible. My chicken was over cooked and pasta was undercooked. The prices are overpriced.

Yikes what was I thinking ! If you are a fan of "south jersey gravy" this is your place! If you are looking for well prepared Italian food,, I would consider better offerings in Collingswood. On a high note the service was friendly and efficient.

Very good food and reasonably priced for the amount you receive. Decent decor however space planning needs some improvements. The fact that there was a table not in use & being used as a service area. This should be obscure from customers. The grilled Caesar salad was very good and was enough for 2 people. The month of June was Soul food month, so we had the shrimp, crab et al macaroni & cheese dish that was delicious and very filling. We had to take a doggie bag. Overall, quaint restaurant but they need to change the decor for space optimization.

I haven't dined in That's Amore but have had the amazing eggplant parm sandwich each time I've ordered takeout. As expected, it's huge, so enjoy the leftovers or split it with someone. I'm a creature of habit so most likely won't try anything else from here. I'm sticking with the eggplant.

I give it 3.5 stars, but since there's no 3.5, the score inflates up to four. Three stars for excellent food, dock one star because of a moderately long wait way-exceeding quoted times, .5 stars because "really, another Italian restaurant in Collingswood?" Every time I walk past That's Amore, I really want to hate it. It's not really their fault. The prime location always seems to be wasted on whatever place happens to spend time there. If only the people of Collingswood would become enlightened enough to allow a bar or two to inhabit its "exclusive" borders, then we might see spots like the corner of Haddon and Collings Aves light up with excitement. But that's not gonna happen, so let's talk about the restaurant. Unfortunately, the night got off to a rocky start. I called ahead for a reservation, and was told that they'd be able to accommodate my party of two. We show up on time, and I had to stand around for a few minutes before someone up front acknowledged my existence. We were asked to wait 5 minutes. It's a nice night, so we're ok with hanging outside for a bit. 20 minutes later, I'm getting impatient -- we picked the restaurant because they said they'd be able to seat us promptly. I don't mind waiting 20-30 minutes for a table if the place doesn't take reservations and has good food, but I really won't wait an unexpected 20 minutes for Italian in Collingswood -- too many other choices within three blocks to waste the time. Maybe if there was a .. GASP .. bar nearby, I'd be happy waiting. I wonder if they'd let us drink our wine while we wait next time.. HMM. Just as we're leaving, our table clears, and we're in. (Note to the old couple who had our table before us: yes, it's cute that you sat there for 30 minutes sipping your coffee once your dessert was finished, but it's polite to move on soon after the plates are cleared so others may eat, especially on a busy Saturday night!) Decor is bright, but a little shabby around the edges. But we're not there for the decor, we're there because we were hungry (and had a bottle of napa cab to drink!). The crowd alternates between over-40 empty-nester couples and late 20s/30something groups of backwards hat-wearing kids. Definitely casual, but I think if they classed up the place a little more, it would improve the overall ambiance. We started off with the Arancini di Riso, basically deep fried rice balls. They were less crunchy then I would have imagined, but had a satisfying, easygoing texture. A loaf of somewhat-crusty bread and gravy came out at the same time. The gravy was perfect for dipping both the bread and the rice balls. It was on the tangier, meatier side as far as red sauce goes, and ranks up there - probably because of the sheer amount of meat that's in the sauce. The waiters cleared the apps quickly, and we moved on to the main course. I ordered the "Sunday Sauce" special, which consisted of a gigantic plate of baked ziti (really?!), a pork rib, two meatballs, and a sweet sausage. The rib was phenomenal, really fall-off-the-bone tender, and had all the richness of the red sauce. The meatballs were the correct size (not too big, not too small), and were bursting with basil-y goodness. The sausage was just your run of the mill sausage with plenty of fennel. Baked ziti was pretty standard as well, with a heaping pile of melted mozzarella on top. Taken apart, there were hits (the rib) and maybe a foul tip or two (the sausage), but put together, it was very satisfying. I think it was a decent value at $20, considering the quality as well as the size of portions. Had I not been ravenously hungry, I probably would have been able to split it into 3 meals. As it is, I've got a big, lunch today. My wife had the chicken parm, which seemed to be on par or better than any other italian joints on the avenue. It also came with baked ziti, but no cheese on her ziti. That's probably a good thing, since there seemed to be a gigantic pile of mozzarella on her chicken -- plenty of cheese to go around. We finished up with the Chocolate Cookie Mousse, which was a totally passable chocolate mousse with oreo-style chunks. It was fine, plenty for two people to eat! $7. Service was omnipresent, but not overbearing. Everyone seemed to pitch in once we got seated, and I believe the wait staff really wanted to serve us. I feel like the place has decent value for Collingswood, but I'm more than a little disappointed that we have ANOTHER Italian place in town. What about French? What about American cuisine? I guess Italian sells the most, so that's what people will open. Summation? I think I'd place it above pretty much any of the other "$$" red sauce joints in the area, but the food isn't quite as refined as Il Fiore or the other "$$-$$$" spots. I think that may be its saving grace, and if they can get a handle on correctly setting expectations for seating customers, I think they'll be around for a whil

Tonight, I stopped into That's Amore with my mom for Restaurant Week. We were seated right away despite being a bit early, which was great. I still see it as a solid four-star restaurant. I started out with the chicken pot pie soup. It tasted basically like a creamy chicken soup, and it was really good! My mom had the butternut squash apple bisque, and she actually finished it. That's not normal for her! Next up were the field greens with creamy balsamic dressing, walnuts and cranberries. They were as okay as salads can be. I then ordered the Sunday Gravy (pork, sausage, meatballs, penne, sauce) for my meal, since it's usually $25, and the Restaurant Week deal was four courses for $35/person. Well. I can now say that I know WHY it's $25. When it came out, my eyes bulged, and the people around me started talking. One of them said it looked like a helmet. Another wished me luck. Another asked me if it was the Sunday Gravy -- and then ordered it himself. After half an hour, the server asked if I was ready to "throw in the towel," and I said, "nah," and kept eating. Yeah, it was really, really good. Eventually, I did stop and packaged the rest away. It'll keep me away from starvation for the next week or two. My mom had a considerably smaller dish -- the pork tenderloins. But, she again ate every bite, which never happens. For dessert, we both had the pumpkin cannoli cream with nilla wafers. So good. Despite the Sunday Gravy, I finished that dish off. That's Amore also offered up complimentary wine from Heritage Vineyards (!!!) and $10 vouchers per person, for upcoming visits. Restaurant Week just began, and I believe That's Amore is actually offering it for the next two weeks, so if you happen to be reading this right now, make a reservation! It's worth it.

Horrible food.. We were a group of 4 and ordered 4 different dishes and each dish was worse than the other. All we could really swallow down our throats was their complimentary bread. Expensive and horrible food.. Not recommended at all

The food was good, but the space is a bit small. Way too much squeezed in a small space. I did like how they give you crayons and you can draw on the paper table cloths. Do they even still do that??? I hope so because that was cool.

Went again a few weeks after my first visit with my boyfriend. I noticed a few negatives that I missed on my first visit. Since it was much more quiet on my second visit, I was able to concentrate on the flavors, textures and overall quality of the food. I had the salmon and risotto. I enjoyed it, I guess, but could hardly eat half because I found the risotto to be extremely heavy and salty. I tried my man's mac & cheese, and basically was so grossed out by the cheese sauce that I didn't finish my bite. One thing that is normally a huge turn on for customers was a huge turn off for my man (he wishes he had the time to Yelp) was the portion sizes. They are really big. Like, unnecessarily large and in charge. I don't mind, but I understand his point. Probably won't go back, unfortunately. There are other Italian spots in Collingswood that I prefer.

To sum it up ... "this place is as loud and obnoxious as Chuck E Cheeses." This was the quote of the night from my wife. By the time I was done with my meal, I couldn't wait for the check so I could get out of there. The biggest problem with this place is the space. They have at least 4 too many tables in the restaurant to make it comfortable for anyone. Tables are on top of each other. Waitresses and waiters are constantly bumping into your chair. Just the floor creaking under you as people shuffled by is enough to drive you nuts. I also witnessed a waitress moving a table into place with her ass. Classy touch. Next, the service. Took about 5 minutes for our waiter to greet us with water and read the specials. Ok, it's very nice that you offered us bread, but when you return to the table 2 times claiming "the bread will be just right up" and meanwhile you see a large party that arrived 15 minutes after you did getting 3 loaves, it's a bit insulting. So the food... mehh. After all that, the bread and the gravy weren't great. The rice balls were very good. I will agree with that. The gnocchi with the pesto sauce... not bad... very creamy / heavy pesto sauce The chicken marsala... nothing special... Huge portions though, so if you are a hungry guy, this is the spot for you. Too many other good Italian restaurants within 100 feet of this place. I doubt I'll be returning for a long while.

We went on a Saturday night, first time there. It was cozy surroundings and loud, just like an Italian restaurant should be! Food was excellent, service was excellent (Connor was our waiter). We had the rice balls and salad, and pasta dishes. Bread was hot and crusty. Really enjoyed it!!!!

I came in here for lunch special so I assume it wasn't busy which wasn't. I entered the door but was not greeted because there was only one server. Nothing against that because he came in right away when he heard the door bell sound. Place is clean, neat and welcoming. I love the interior decorations and different colors on the walls. Service is on time and server is knowledgeable about the menu. I'd recommend this place and come back with more people. Food preparation is decent enough. Tastes great, that's what matters the most! That's Amore!

My experience with That's Amore is mostly on the good side and they certainly have excellent service (plus it is a BYOB) but a few dishes are lacking. Arancini: These are amazing and reminiscent of the arrancini I had the pleasure of eating in Italy. They are a perfect mix of crunch on outside and gooey cheese and rice on the inside. A great appetizer and served with their delicious gravy - see below. Panzanella: I wanted to like this salad so badly. SO badly. It started out promising - garlic breard, diced ripe tomatoes, pesto.....and then approximately half a bottle of olive oil in the bottom of the bowl. Maybe more than half a bottle. I love olive oil (I mean, what's not to love about OO?) but even for an EVOO lover, it was excessive and overpowering. I think the OO in from the pesto mix and the pesto is then poured over the bread and tomatoes. It makes it really hard to avoid the excessive oil because the bread has already soaked up a ton. My stomach was actually hurting from the oiliness. If they would even halve the amount of OO, this would be a 5 star dish. "Gravy": the red gravy tastes like a nice Italian Momma spent all Sunday (after church of course) simmering a bit pot of it. It is absolutely delicious. The best gravy I've had in a while. They offer a build your own pasta bowl for $14 and I would highly recommend the gravy as your sauce of choice. Chicken Parm: This is my partner's go to dish. He says the chicken is perfectly fried - lightly battered and very crispy before they put that famous gravy on it. It comes with a heaping side of a pasta of your choice. You can definitely stretch this to 2-3 meals. Penne Vodka: I never thought these words would pass my lips but....it was too cheesy. I know, I know - nothing can every be too cheesy. But the cheese was so salty and so abundant, that I could barely taste the vodka sauce! I knew this would be a rich dish but I was TOO rich, resulting in overpowering the sauce....not what you want at an Italian place known for their sauces. Overall, you will absolutely enjoy your meal at this restaurant. The key is to order carefully and stick with the basics so the richness of other ingredients doesn't take over the meal.

The rice balls were amazing as well as a the calamari casear salad. The EXTREME down side and why I have informed all my family friends on why not to go here is simple. The manager/owner is the rudest man I have ever come across! We were a group of 6 old high school friends. We were not loud at all, normal volume for this already loud restaurant We had reservations at 6PM. At 8PM, this rude owner/manager came over, without making eye contact and actually causing quite a scene, loudly stated: "THIS TABLE IS FOR MY 8PM RESERVATION, SO YOU NOW NEED TO LEAVE" I WILL NEVER GO BACK SIMPLY B/C OF THIS LOUD OBXNIOUS MAN!!! Guess our money wasn't as important as this table that had reservations. PJ's down the street was much better and much more friendly. Save your $ for generic food and a manager with a loud attitude.

First time eating here. Went with my wife... the food and service were good, but the place felt like a loud, crowded social gathering. Table spacing also needs to be addressed... too close to other tables. If thats the way they want, Its cool, just not my style.

I am so happy that we couldn't get a reservation at the first restaurant we tried in Collingswood. That's Amore was fantastic, from the service to the awesome food to the cute décor, to the fact that it's byob. But the most important thing: that wonderful food. I am not usually a fan of red sauce. But when I tasted the Sunday gravy they served us with bread, I was immediately hooked. It is so fresh and delicious. You can actually taste the fresh tomatoes in it. My husband laughed at me because I didn't want to eat any more bread so I just scooped some up on a spoon to eat it. Next, on the advice of our lovely hostess, we tried fried rice balls. Not something I would ordinarily order, but once again delicious, with more of that Sunday gravy. For entrees, my husband ordered, you guessed it, the Sunday gravy, served in a huge bowl with pork, sausage and meatballs. He was a happy man! He loved all the meat, and said the meatballs were perfect. I had one of their specials, salmon with a coconut mango glaze, served over shrimp and apricot risotto. I am always nervous about ordering salmon because I like it really rare. The hostess said they usually cook it to medium but she would tell the chef I wanted it rare. It came out perfect, and the chef sent her out to check with me and make sure it was cooked the way I wanted it. I ate in very small bites because I wanted it to last forever. I would never have thought to combine those flavors and I don't really like apricots but I ate every last bite of the salmon and the risotto, it was so good. I told my husband it was one of the best meals I've ever had, and we have eaten our way through Italy and France. The meal came to about $50.00 for the 2 of us, not bad considering my husband took half his dinner home and ate it again the next night. I can't wait to go back here and bring friends.

I am writing this because after sending the restaurant a private message via FB they blocked me from their page instead of addressing the situation. Although I was not impressed with my first visit. They gave me a menu for restaurant week, so I decided to give it a second chance. I got 5 of my friends for a night out. After being seated I realized the dish I had been looking forward to was no longer on the menu, the other dish that a few of us were interested in was also now sold out! There were no replacements but other options for an up charge!! When it came to dessert the one choice that most of us wanted was also sold out!! I will definitely not be going back, one the food is not so good, second the customer service is horrible. Now about my first visit. We ordered the Panzenella salad which was a giant bowl of bread swimming in olive oil. About 1 minute after bringing that to our table a basket of bread came out!! I didn't know we were getting bread or I never would have ordered the salad. Second my chicken Franchaise was the worst I ever had. It was a plate of dry chicken cutlets with a side of dry pasta. Both of these items were recommended by the waitress! That's all folks!

Im torn bc the staff was really awesome but the food was just OK. I made a reservation for a Thursday night but had to switch it at the last minute to a Friday night, there was no issue at all. Just had to move the time up a little bit. No biggie. We were seated right away and the entire party hadn't even arrived yet. The servers brought ice buckets for our liquor and took our drink order right away. The server, Frank, was very courteous and pleasant. We ordered a variety of appetizers and entrees. Everything was brought out hot and fast. I especially loved the calamari Caesar salad. It was delicious however, I think $18 for some calamari on a salad is a bit steep. I also ordered the eggplant rolletini with a side of spaghetti. The gravy (or sauce) was on the sweet side which neither I or my family are fans of, I guess we are partial to the gravy I make. The side of spaghetti was a tad watery too. My kids ordered chicken parm w a side of gnocchi & my daughter didn't eat hardly any of it bc the gravy was too sweet for her. We ordered the rice balls, pomme frites and fried pizza. They were all ok. Probably not something I would order again. The reason we went here was for my sons 16th birthday. So of course we got dessert. But it would have been cheaper if I paid the $2/slice of cake had I brought my own cake. I told the server it was my sons birthday not knowing if they do anything for special occasions. The waiter put a candle in his dessert for him. Thats basically the only thing they do. No singing. No clapping. Nothing. But....what happened next takes the cake. The salted nuts and caramel cheesecake that Is. O.M.G. That was THE MOST amazing dessert I have ever had. I would go there just for that cheesecake. All in all it was a nice evening out at a different place that we haven't tried yet. I'm glad we went but I don't know if/when we'll go back. Maybe just for that chee

With all the Italian places in town, I have to say this one is not tops on my list. My wife and I have tried this place twice and are underwhelmed by the food. The gravy is sweet as if it has sugar added, which for my taste should not be included in a traditional Italian pasta gravy. Not a fan of gravy with sugar added. Let the natural taste of delicious San Marzano tomatoes and olive oil lead the way, not sugar. The service has been inconsistent and even uncomfortable at times, including the last time we went, the waiter tried to fixed a shaky table after our food had just arrived, and spun the table top during the attempted fix so my plate of hot food ended up across from me and vice-versa for my wife. Let's just say, I was less then pleased as the timing was horrible and I am sure we were not the first to have issues with the table. Fix these things when your are closed. I had to talk my wife into going back for our 2nd time here as I wanted to try the Macaroni and Cheese they were advertising during their "Mac & Cheese" month. (I have a real weakness for Mac & Cheese.) Unfortunately I set my expectations too high and left disappointed and way lighter in the pockets then I should have for the quality of the meal. What was advertised as a special blend of a few different high end cheeses tasted simply like Velveeta. Definitely not my taste when it comes to Mac & Cheese. What I do like about this place is the way the menu is setup with choices and combinations. If they can pull up the the quality in the food and service, they would be on par to compete with some of the better Italian restaurants in the area. Having lived in Naples Italy for over 5 years and of Italian linage, I know good Italian food when I eat it. In summary, the food quality and taste, price and service are the reasons for my rating. That being said, try it for your self and make your own judgments as everyone's tastes are different.

That's Amore is a pretty decent Italian restaurant. It is hard to be completely fair because there are so many Italian restaurants so close by. We went on a Saturday night without a reservation and were able to get a table for three. The staff was very, very friendly and helpful. One of the dishes we had was the Pork Sambuca. This was tender and the sauce was really special. The risotto was also cooked just right. This was a great dish. We had a chicken special dish, and although very tasty the cream sauce just seemed a bit heavy. The owner checked on our table and our waitress was great. They seem to be doing very well. The restaurant is very comfortable inside.

The one star is for their BYOB-ness, although not really deserving considering all of Collingswood is BYOB because it's a dry town. Came here for South Jersey Restaurant Week with J and coworkers. Let's just say I'm really glad we had good company and delicious wine to drown out the food experience. Again, maybe we're Philly snobs or maybe we don't know what the hell we're talking about and should get out of town, but when you serve me ANYTHING in plastic containers, I'm judging you. Our hummus and our tapenade crostini appetizers were served in those plastic sauce containers! Crostini was stale, seafood bisque was poured from a crockpot by the server, and the pasta ... oh, the pasta! Yes, it was a huuuuuge portion, very 'murica, but honestly, I'd rather a smaller portion that is better executed. We got the Sunday Gravy and the Osso Buco. Saddest dishes I've ever eaten. And I'm usually the easier one to please. Hopefully, we were the exception and not the norm. Maybe we caught them on a bad night, but we probably won't ever find out. That's amore!

My girlfriend and I recently visited to have a nice meal together. There were some positives, but mostly negatives. Positives: The food was pretty good, I enjoyed it, It was not the best I have ever had but it was in the three star range. The location is nice, right there on a corner in Collingswood, easy to get to and find. Negatives: The service is pretty two star. We didn't get a loaf of bread until my entree was already on the table. The place was only half full, we should have had some bread to go along with the olive oil, and caprese salad. They also rushed our meal, in and out in less than 45 minutes with apps, salad, entree. Chik-fil-a has let me stay longer. The place is too small. It was only half full and I could barely hear my girlfriend from across the table, the acoustics suck and you get to take part in the couple sitting next to you's entire conversation because the tables are on top of one another. Moreover, te couple on the other side decided it was selfie fest, and took maybe 20-25 pictures of themselves during our dinner, less than two feet away. The price- I have had the same exact average Italian food other places, for HALF of the price. They really deceive you with the create your own pasta entree. Yeah, you do that and the $14 price at the top is for wet noodles. Everything else adds up, the sauce, the add ons...everything. In the end it was $96 for two to eat here. I could have gone and got $38 filet someplace with excellent service and waited on like I was Babe Ruth in the 20s. THE BEST PART- The cook decided to take a stroll to the bathroom through the restaurant during the meal. Playing on his cell phone, texting away, making no eye contact. This place wants to be five star, even three star...you can't have that going down. Oh, and the back door to the restaurant was open when we left...why not let the flies right on in! Conclusion: We aren't going back, the service is a D, the food is a C, the Price is an F, The cook and door open is a no go. The size and proximity to other tables is like eating in a walk in closet.

Order the sunday gravy, chicken parm or chicken marsala. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu to be honest. The meatballs are homemade and deliscious. The owner is always welcoming, your treated like family.

Very, very friendly and helpful service. Great location and comfortable seating. When I was working in the area I was eating lunch here weekly. I'm not as close anymore, but still get back when I can. Anyplace that celebrates mac n cheese with it's own month is okay with me. My personal favorite; Arancini Di Riso-fried risotto balls filled with cheese and covered with fresh red sauce. You can't go wrong! A variety of sandwiches and sauces are available. My daughter loves the meatball parm. I have enjoyed a chicken and pepper sandwich, vodka penne and tuna melt in a pita.

Had an amazing dinner here during restaurant week. They accommodated a party of 7 during a very busy night. Our servers were fantastic. You could tell that they were all working together to get the job done. There are so many pasta/sauce combinations to choose from. There are literally 20+sauces to pick from. The two I tasted were delicious, especially the panchetta and creamy parmesan. Everyone (but one) loved their dinners. The soup starters were fantastic, as were the appetizers. My sister wasn't a fan of her dinner, she thought it was going to be a in a different type of sauce. The server said he would bring her another type of sauce, and ended up bringing out a whole other bowl of pasta. Great service. We had two gluten-free diners in our party (my brother and I), and they were really accommodating- checking with the chef, even brought a different dessert (cannoli cream) for our last course. It was a really enjoyable dinner. The place is pretty tight though. It looks much bigger from the outside. But the servers are polite and everyone appeared to do their best running through the maze of tables and chairs. I'd definitely be back. Especially since they did such a great job accommodating our large and gluten free party.

The thing about That's Amore is that their portions are too small. Too small for the hungriest sasquatch in the world. Or too small for the world's fattest set of twins. Or maybe they are too small for people who can eat sixty hotdogs in 12 minutes. Maybe, just maybe, if you wandered the desert for two weeks before coming here, you'd be able to eat an entre. Anyway, I got the "Sunday Dinner", which was all sorts of Italian Grandmom meats served in red sauce. It was pretty good. My wife got some weird eggplant pasta which she seemed to like but I stayed away from. I ate about 32% of my entre and packed it in a doggie bag so I could eat dessert. I ordered a champaign glass full of cannolli goop and strawberries and it was good as it sounds. As an added bonus, they have all sorts of crazy specials, like ravioli month, and mac and cheese lovers month. A whole month devoted just to people who love Mac N Cheese.. It's beautiful. It's insane. But you know what? That's life. That's amore.

One of the few restaurants I have never been to in Collingswood. Went on a Sunday, portions were oversized, but loaded with sugar (sauce) and salt. Severs were nice but a bit slow and green. Can't see going back. Maybe it was an off night but it was Sunday.

While "That's Amore," is one of numerous Italian restaurants in Collingswood, they are most certainly one of the best. Their menu is the most diverse menu in Collingswood. Specials are usually different, innovative, and delicious. They have a Make-Your-Own Pasta selection, with lots of different types of sauces; Choices of Chicken; Veal; Pork, etc; and my favorite dish....THE SUNDAY GRAVY. If you haven't gotten the Sunday Gravy at That's Amore - you need to. Their meatballs, pork, and sausage along with the rich red sauce is top-notch. No other restaurant in Collingswood has anything as tasty, or as good, as this Sunday Gravy. If you are in the mood for some Italian, but don't know what you want, go to That's Amore. I can guarantee you will find something on your menu. And if you can't - order the Sunday Gravy. You can't go wrong with that. Also - this restaurant offers take-out, so if you can't sit and enjoy your meal - you can pick it up to go!

First time dining here and I cannot wait to return. First of all, our server, Taylor was truly outstanding. Due to unforeseen circumstances he ended up being the only server for 40 people. Could not have asked for better service or a better attitude. He kindly took our table's photograph even with truly being over-loaded taking care of everyone. First we ordered one huge salad to share for 4 people with house-made creamy balsamic dressing, walnuts, goat cheese, cranberries and assorted Spring greens. Huge portion and so very fresh. Love the fact that they have a huge variety of pasta with many, many kinds of sauces to choose from as well as add-ins like shrimp, chicken, etc.. I personally had Veal Olivia, a house specialty . OMG, I was stunned by the huge portion and then by the incredible tenderness of the veal--truly fork tender--and outstanding sauce. Everyone loved their dinner and we all intend to return and recommend this restaurant to our friends. I cannot say enough about the quality of food and service (THANKS TAYLOR!!) and look forward to returning again, and again, and again...oh yes, it is BYOB and the coffee served is French press as well!

For my first Italian BYO in Collingswood, we tried That's Amore. We started with the Calamari Caesar Salad (huge, big even for 2 people) - a generous amount of tender calamari although I would have liked a little more lettuce. My entree was the Penne alla Puttannesca, which I was thrilled to hear would be made to order, so I could get it with no capers and half the olives (the olives were actually quite good, next time I would get the full portion). The dish was enormous (it lasted through 3 meals!) and had plenty of tasty vegetables. Even though our table was the last to leave for the evening, we weren't rushed at all and the executive chef even stopped by with a complimentary serving of his Mac & Cheese dessert (like a pasta-based rice pudding). Overall, a fantastic meal in a pleasant atmosphere - we will be back!

I've been to this restaurant once before for the NJ Farm to table week and it was amazing so why not go back. I was visiting this time with my family while I was in town. Everything about That's Amore is really wonderful-the service, the ambiance, and ofcourse the food!! This time around we had the calamari salad (huge and amazing), rice balls (a favorite), and the special of the night as our main course. I am never disappointed or ever left hungry. The portions are huge here. I love the every thing about this place, highly recommended!

My apologies to That's Amore, I had remembered the name of the restaurant wrong, and wrote a review to the wrong place. Now, that being said, it is easy to do, because there are at least 4 Italian restaurants within a one block radius. That's Amore did not make my favorite gnocchi, but it was okay. The sauce wasn't creamy enough, but it certainly wasn't bad, a bit too bland for my taste. The service has been friendly, and I apologize for connecting them with the service across the street.

Oh my gosh, now I have to go back to Los Angeles and will only be able to dream about this menu. Friends and I went Friday night and ordered a vegetarian Chef's Table. I posted photos, but I'm afraid they don't do justice to the bursting flavors and imagination incorporated by one of the most amazing chefs! My favorites were the bruschetta, a perfect melange of flavors, which upon first glance appeared a bit over the top, but simply a symphony of flavor, wonderfully well balanced; the pasta primavera was close to heaven; goat cheese ravioli, polenta and orzo rice pudding. LOVED every one of them! $35 per person and I lost count of how many dishes were brought out. Two green salads, salad Caprese with perfectly ripened tomatoes, bruschetta, polenta, 2 raviolis, pasta primavera, two desserts, coffee served in a french press...I'm sure I've forgotten something, but we waddled out of there absolutely stuffed, with enough leftovers for 2 days! Highly recommend That's Amore!! Bravo Chef!! (Don't forget to bring your own wine!)

I made reservations to go here on a Saturday night. Our plans changed so I called early Saturday afternoon to cancel the reservation. I spoke to someone who confirmed they found the reservation that was in there (by my first and last name) and that they could cancel it, no problem. They thanked me for calling and letting them know, and I thought that was that. Later on that evening, I received a phone call, which my sister answered since I wasn't there at the moment. It was someone from the restaurant, who started yelling at my sister that I cost them $150 for no-showing to my reservation. She tried to explain to them that I had canceled it earlier in the day, and they said that I didn't and now I screwed them over. They then hung up on her. When I returned I tried calling them back, upset that they yelled at her when clearly the person at the restaurant didn't actually cancel the reservation like he told me he did, but they ignored my call and wouldn't answer. Prior to this experience, I would have raved about this restaurant, but I find this lack of professionalism disgusting. Especially in this scenario, where they were completely wrong about what they were yelling at us for, but either way I find this to be an incredibly immature way for a business to handle customer service. Yesterday I received an email from That's Amore, asking that I vote for them as "Best Italian" restaurant, which I find laughable. I'll continue going to Villa Barone, Bistro di Marino, or any other of the wonderful restaurants in Collingswood that provide great food AND service.

Whenever I go to Collingswood I would always spot this place and make a note in my mind to go for dinner someday. Well someday finally came and we decided to go here for a close friends birthday. I obviously checked it out on Yelp beforehand to see what appetizers got the popular vote. The stuffed rice balls - no one seems to remember the same, including myself - were everything Yelpers cracked them up to be. Also I highly enjoyed the polenta fries, hot and crispy on the outside, nice and soft on the inside. The majority of their pasta is hand made in house and is delicious. Every platter tastes like a home cooked meal and is served in large bowls (the owner said he got the idea of large hand-painted bowls from Femmina in Medford, which is a favorite of mine so I was happy to hear). Leftovers are a commodity in my house so the large portions didn't scare me away or make me feel like I needed to clean my plate no matter how badly I wanted to. Bonus points: it's BYOB and the owner himself is very friendly and personable, no doubt he will stop by and say hello to your table some point throughout the night when he isn't too busy getting his hands dirty in the kitchen.

I was skeptical... I had been here before when it first opened and was not a fan for a host of reasons that I won't get into, but I decided to give it another shot and I'm so happy I did. The wait staff is not only friendly, but they know the menu. The front desk was super accommodating, letting us move to a table we found more comfortable. There were TONS of vegetarian options for me and they were clearly marked on their menu. They have theme months - ravioli month, lasagne month, etc which is fun and lets the chef experiment. They have a "make your own pasta dish" section of the menu where you can mix and match fresh made pastas of your choice with different super interesting sauces - you can be as adventurous or safe as you want. Their portion sizes are MASSIVE. You will be eating for days. I'm a new convert. Definitely make reservations - this is a small place and I wouldn't bank on being able to get a table as a walk-in. I also have to try their Sunday dinner... so I'll be going back soon, especially for lasagne month.

This place was awesome. As soon as we walked in I got that home-y Italian feeling. There was a mixup with garlic bread where it was delivered to our table but the table next to us ordered it. They corrected it right away and accommodated us as well. Our waitress was lovely. My boyfriend wanted something not on the menu he literally asked for a bowl of meatballs and they were like "no problem!" I really respected that because many restaurants don't accommodate like that. I got the spaghetti with marinara and it was delicious the sauce was the perfect amount of spice. While we were walking out the owner approached us and we talked to him for like 5 minutes because he really just wanted to know our experience. He genuinely wanted to know what we liked and if there was anything we didn't so he could improve his business. This is a must go! Right in the center of town and it's a very small and intricate setting.

For the app, we Hummus - it was good but too much EVOO Calamari Caesar salad was OK- definitely not worth the $30some for the 2 of us. Tons of calamari and some lettuce..nothing special. Salad was ordered with dressing on the side...but came out covered in dressing. Wouldn't go back.

A-OK for Italian in our area. I think I expected more from That's Amore based on recommendations I'd received from family. We started with the Endive Boats. They were alright. My aunt had raved about them, so I was thinking they'd be the next best thing, but they were sub-par at best. Their balsamic was ridiculously sweet and syrupy - more so than it should be. I had a salad, so I'm not going to judge my review on that. My cousin had the steak. It was slightly rubbery and fatty. My husband had the spaghetti and meatballs. The sauce lacked any flavor and the pasta was BEYOND overcooked. For dessert we shared cannoli's. They didn't taste homemade/fresh at all. More like they were purchased from a bakery 3 days prior. Great portion sizes and the service was superb. It is tight quarters in there, so be aware of that if trying to go with a large party. Not sure I'd go back. With all the fabulous Italian that's around, I'd go to other restaurants first.....

every time we see a new restaurant opening in collingswood, it ends up being italian! while there are too many italian restaurants in this town, i am so pleasantly surprised with That's Amore, and i sincerely hope they last! my bf and i were instantly pleased as we opened the door and were suddenly hit with the pleasant aroma of italian cooking. the decor was comfortable, and the service was great. we had 2 salads, which were very large. we also tried their garlic bread.... which came with their homemade SAUCE. the sauce? LOVE at first bite! we were thrilled to see that the chef was visiting tables, because we just had to know his secret to the perfect red sauce. for dinner, we had bowls of pasta, which left us with plenty of left-overs. in fact, we had to pass on dessert. with such great service, and an incredibly welcoming chef, we sincerely hope that this new restaurant is successful... especially in a town with such heavy competition!

Not one star is deserved. The positives: The food was good, but the positives end there. The negatives of this restaurant exceeded the only positive of our experience. With many other delicious food choices around, I would recommend to go elsewhere. The owner was extremely rude and treated us disrespectfully. The simplest of accommodations was answered with rolling of eyes and attitude. What happened to the customer is always right? Not with this owner. The attitude from him and the waitress were unnecessary and unexpected especially in this economy. With an abundance of small restaurants in Collingswood hurting for business, the attitude towards their customers is embarrassing. They do not deserve business from anyone. If you are looking for good food, but a miserable experience you will enjoy this place. If you enjoy great service and great hospitality please avoid at all costs. If your party exceeds eight you are expected to do the Chef's Table, but since when is a party of eight a LARGE accommodation. With expensive and over priced meals, you are better off at Il Fiore or Villa Barone where you receive better service. This owner deserves nothing, especially a restaurant in such a prime location where others could thrive.

The staff here is so friendly and the ambiance is romantic. The food is the best Italian fare I've had anywhere in south jersey. The risotto there is the best I've ever had anyplace. They really treat you like you're family. Great food and service and even a complimentary glass of wine to sit and get cozy while you glance over the delicious menu

This marks the 3rd stop on my adventure of flying through Farm to Fork restaurant week! I stopped here for the 2-for-$10 lunch after passing it all those years of never trying it out, as the restaurant kept changing ownership every few years. Unfortunately, I kind of understand why now. I have to be one of those people who left unimpressed with this supposedly home-styled Italian American restaurant. The first thing I noticed about this place was that there were large signs on the window advertising the Farm to Fork deal, and yet when I walked in today at the lunch rush hour, there were only 2-3 tables occupied. The restaurant only consisted of one waiter during lunch service, and he was very friendly and helpful. Looking at the lunch menu, especially the section that showed the deal, I was pretty disappointed. I researched the website before coming here, and saw that what they put as the hot-entrees on the $10 menu was actually the hot plate appetizer on the regular menu. There wasn't much to choose from, and I wasn't really feeling any of these options. In the end, I chose the Caesar salad as the appetizer and the Polenta Parmesana. Later, I was told that it ran out, which confused me considering that most of the restaurant was empty. I then instead chose the Eggplant Rollatini. My Caesar salad came with large slices of parmesan cheese and a single large crouton with the dressing on the side. No one can go wrong with Caesar salad, really. My mother ordered the soup of the day, which was corn chowder, and the bowl was way too tiny. I would have understood if the restaurant gave smaller portions for a two-course meal, but this bowl was way too small to even be considered a course. The volume of the bowl can probably only fit literally 1 1/2 large eggs. However, as far as flavor goes, That's Amore did hit some notes, as the soup, which I tried a bit of, was pretty tasty. My Eggplant Rollatini came shortly after, by who I guessed was probably the chef. After being slightly distracted by my disappointment in his attire, which was an old black t-shirt and flannel shorts that looked more like plaid boxers, I turned my focus to the food. In appearance, the dish looked great. The parmesan was topped on a nice golden-crustedly baked mozzarella cheese in a still-sizzling platter that looked like a pretty decent size. However, the dish was too heavy on the cheese and tomato sauce (which didn't taste very handmade), and I barely tasted the eggplant, except its texture, which was a bit too much on the mushy side. My mother had some sort of deep fried rice cheese balls, but didn't finish because she thought that it was too heavy and rich even for such a small portion. I tried a piece as well, and thought it was dry and rich at the same time, if that makes sense. Overall, it was a pretty unsatisfying meal. I left a bit disappointed, considering that That's Amore is located at such a nice spot in downtown Collingswood and I've always wanted to try this place. I looked at other tables and saw amazing-looking large entrees of burgers and pasta platters and what not, so maybe we just had bad choices. In the future, I hope to come by again and try from their real menu. Maybe since it won't be a cheap deal, the quality will be more satisfying and better done.

I had gnocchi with pesto cream. I asked for sausage on the side but it came mixed in. At first I was disappointed but I couldn't believe how good it was. Our server seemed new. We were still holing our menus when the appetizers arrived and still hasn't placed our order. It was cumbersome to eat with the menus in our hands.

Definitely try the chef's table if you have the party size and everyone is game for it. They don't lie when they say you'll be full by the end. With a menu full of delicious home-made pastas and a seemingly endless variety of specials, especially when they do monthly specials like a "Macaroni and Cheese" menu or a Ravioli menu, while these seem gimmicky, Pop Shop does the same thing and while it greatly expands the menu it also ensures that there is something for everyone. We go there with friends often and service is usually pretty fast and although we usually have a variety of servers, they are all normally friendly. The owner/chef is also very sociable and usually makes it a point to stop by every table at least to say hello. I can't really say anything negative about That's Amore. The bread is great- and plentiful. The sauce that comes with the bread is equally amazing. I'm not sure what they're called but one of the appetizers that are breaded rice balls are very good and we order those every time we go there. The space is overly packed, though and it's difficult to navigate but that isn't enough to take off any stars or anything like that, once you're seated who cares how hard it is to navigate! Although some of their pastas are homemade (indicated by their menu) it doesn't seem like they all are. If they limited the amount of pastas offered and only offered homemade, I think that would be something that would certainly set them apart from the competition.

Had a great dinner here. Highly recommend the chef's table if you have enough people!! It is sort of an omakase of Italian food!! Salad, pasta and meats keep coming. Service was good, nice ambiance. Owners seem passionate about the food and take pride in their establishment. Can't wait to go back!!

I went here with a party of 6. Honestly we hadn't intended to go here, but we were looking for an Italian restaurant after a viewing at a local funereal parlor, and we just chose this place at random. And we loved it. We were met by the owner at the door, a very personable, friendly individual. The food was excellent - I had the salmon special, over risotto with green beans. This was delicious, in fact, other members of my party commented on how great it looked. One of us had the Sunday Gravy Special, in his case penne pasta. A huge bowl. The menu had a very nice variety of Italian dishes. Overall we had an excellent time. If I'm ever in Collingswood again, I would definitely go again, and I would recommend this place highly.

We recently enjoyed an informal get-together & dinner here with a group of friends the event being a dear friend who recently retired from 24 Years service with the USPS, and it was her birthday also - yay! In a nutshell, the food and service was excellent. Our waitress was very thorough, professional and friendly. The Manager also stopped by our table to check on things and wish our 'birthday girl' a happy 50-something b-day, a pleasant touch. We felt at home and enjoyed our visit, although the place by it's location on the site of a former corner bookstore is a bit on the crowded side. Also of note one of our party had a Celiac condition an had to eat gluten free, they had several GF/GMO free selections to pick and choose from and he said his food was very well prepared and was indeed prepared GF as his pocket test-kit confirmed. We will be back again. "That's Amore" gets a gold star from us. Best to call in a Reservation in advance for Dinner as TA gets filled up with patrons rather quickly. Portion sizes are BIG also so bring your appetite or a take-home box or bag! BYOB. Parking at the PATCO lot behind the Firehouse or the Public Lot inside the Lumberyard (?) Condo complex behind Bobby Chez's crabcakes, look for the "Public Parking" sign on the side of the 3-story condo complex on the small access road behind BC's/Wawa. About 120 sheltered parking spaces only a bloc away.

Let me start off with the good.. The portions were huge, the food (for the most part) was incredible, and the wait-staff was friendly and informative. But here's the problem. I made reservations for 4, which they had no record of - I later found out through my Open Table account that they cancelled it.. which I've never heard of a restaurant doing before. We were seated and had to wait over 15 minutes for someone to come over. The waiter brought water, but no glasses. We had to ask for silverware and napkins as they weren't on the table. We ordered 2 plates of the tilapia from the menu and ended up getting served the special instead. The rice-balls, while delicious, were cold in the middle. But the most fascinating part of our experience was that we were never given bread. When we finally asked for it, 30 minutes into dinner, we were told that they had run out. Run out? What restaurant runs out of bread at 8:30 on a Saturday night? Meanwhile every other table, even those who were seated after us, had bread. As I was hosting my girlfriend's parents for the first time, this started to get incredibly embarrassing for me. I realize that they may have been training new staff, but this was my second experience here in the last year where the service was all over the place. Unfortunately, I won't be eating here again - there are too many other great Italian Restaurants in Collingswood with similar pricing to have to go through this again.. It's really unfortunate, as the "Sunday Gravy" was one of the best meals I've ever had. I just wanted some bread to dip into it.

I went to That's Amore for their Valentine's day special. The advertised a special dinner and our family of four went. Service was buffet style. The entrees and sides were interesting but nothing fantastic. There was nothing my daughters would eat, so the chef made them up plates of chicken fingers and fries instead, which was a really nice gesture. Desserts were really good as well. When the bill came, we found out it the charge was $35 per person for the meal, with no children's rate. The price hadn't been posted on any of their advertising and I felt the entire meal was horribly overpriced -- those were the most expensive chicken fingers ever!! I won't be going back.

We really enjoyed our dinner here this evening. Everything was really fresh and prepared for order. We started out with the goat cheese, cranberry, walnut app and it was more than enough. They didn't have any side salads so we ordered the Caesar and split that before our meals. Loved the freshly grated cheese on the Caesar. I ordered the gnocchi with pancetta and peas in a buttery sauce...amazing. Obviously homemade and delicious. My wife ordered the lobster raviolis. Delicious also! We didn't order dessert but I did try their pumpkin coffee which was awesome. Like most restaurants in Collingswood, it wasn't very intimate. Your tables are very close together and you hear everyone else's conversations. But as far as the food is concerned, definitely worth trying. We will be back! Oh... and remember, it is a BYO!

We went for restaurant week and it was AMAZING! The four courses were all on the large side and delicious. The gravy they serve with the bread was so good I wanted to bathe in it.

Great!! Love this place. Starting with the personal touch we got, our server Aaron was funny, detailed and likable. Also knew when to leave my wife and I alone (a lost art). In terms of italian food, the gravy (sauce) (begin the debate on which term is right) was right up my alley. I had the tilapia in a putanesca sauce. a side of home made pasta with a blob of ricotta on top, and a side of meatballs. My food was so good I can't even remember what my wife got. Dessert was also loaded with awesome. We each got our own private French press mini pot of coffee. We ordered the milk soaked cake (very refreshing). We were greeted by the owner who was nice and it tied the place together for us. From food to experience I suggest hitting this place up. Ps. The Meatballs were great!

My girlfriend and I picked up a bottle of wine and came to That's Amore for dinner a few weeks ago. The place was full and they sat us after a minute or two. Seated right in front of the fireplace. Great atmosphere- staff was friendly. We each got the Tuscan Field Greens and we both loved it. Goat cheese, cranberries, walnuts. Great start to the meal. It came with a garlic dressing that really added to salad. We also ordered the mussels- large and served on the half shell. Not chewy, very good. The real draw here is the pasta. All of it was homemade and you could tell. Gf got the pesto and I got the fettuccine bolognese. Incredible. I couldn't be more happy with the meal. Best pasta I've ever had in the states. We broke down and got dessert even though we said we wouldn't. Turned out to be a good thing. We split a slice of pumpkin cheesecake. It was so good that we actually ordered a full cheesecake for Thanksgiving. Out of all the places I've been to in Collingswood, this one is by far my favorite. Already fighting back the urge to go there again for dinner.

Had lunch here with 3 others. I had the chicken parm..must say it was good as they used a fresh breast. It came with a mini caesar salad which was good. We shared the pommes frites, which were hyped, but not all that special. Two of my guests had pasta dishes which they said were good, although too cream heavy. The eggplant parm my other guest had was said to be very good. Service was good and the food was brought out fast!

My first time here. Collingswood is know for the great restaurants on Haddon Ave and That's Amore is no different. A+ all around. What a great decision in comin here to eat last minute. Warm welcome as soon as we walked through the door. We started with the fried risotto balls as they were amazing. My entree was the Sunday Gravy..WOW....meatballs , sausage , pork with homemade gravy served over linguine. My g/f had the Veal Olivia ( veal with eggplant and risotto & other stuff...haha ). For dessert we had the cannoli & salted Carmel (pecan or walnut ) cheesecake...dessert was phenomenal. Out waiter Anthony was fun , knowledgable , friendly and professional. Made great suggestions and was extremely welcoming and walked us through the menu as it was out first time here. The food + Anthony's great customer service deserves more than 5 stars. Huge kudos to the chef as well. That's Amore has customers for life.

Everything was great from our server Camille to our canoli's. The Sunday gravy was fabulous. We will definitely be back and were bringing friends next time.

A Haiku: Portions are quite large Delicious, hearty and fresh Servers are helpful To elaborate: As semi-new Collingswood residents (we moved here in December), my boyfriend and I have been trying to hit all of the local restaurants. We live right in between C-wood and Westmont, so we have amazing (walk-able) access to both the BYOBs of Collingswood and the bars in Westmont. Honestly, the idea to go to That's Amore came about because it was a Saturday afternoon and we knew that if we wanted to be able to go out to eat at a reasonable hour and stay local, we'd have to make a reservation. We were super busy, so when That's Amore showed up at the top of the list on Open Table and I quickly checked to see its Yelp avg review (4 stars, sounds good to me!) I snatched an 8 PM table. We honestly didn't know what to expect, and when we approached the restaurant and saw the hoards of people standing outside Il Fiore (still haven't tried it yet), we were a little skeptical. We sat down and were immediately greeted by a male server, who told us he wasn't going to be our server, but read us the specials anyway, and gave us a few personal recommendations. The female server who technically waited on us was also very knowledgeable and gave great ordering tips. We ordered the pesto honey goat cheese garlic bread (decent, but didn't need it), the SMALL calamari caesar salad (took half of it home) and a couple of pasta dishes (also took half of them home). The calamari salad was excellent. It was a recommendation from both servers and they should keep recommending it to everybody. The calamari was cooked to perfection, and who doesn't like a good caesar salad? We both ordered off the "create your own" pasta portion of the menu. Personally, this is something I enjoy about Italian restaurants. I often find pasta dishes that have an ingredient or two I want to substitute. I think a lot of places try to stray from the CYO vibe because it doesn't come off as classy or fancy. Blah blah blah. It's awesome and one of the main reasons I will be going back. I ordered the homemade pappardelle with roasted red pepper romesco sauce and fresh vegetables. My boyfriend ordered the homemade linguini with vodka sauce and SHORT RIBS. Yes, you heard me right, SHORT RIBS on pasta. Mine was fantastic and definitely more "summery" but his was one of the best dishes either of us have ever tasted. I woke up on Sunday morning with my mouth watering thinking about how excited I was to be able to eat the leftovers. I will say that we were both very thankful for the 1/2 mile walk home afterwards. They don't claim to serve "light" food and their style is very "Sunday Gravy" traditional. Go hungry and plan to take a walk afterwards. The tiramisu for dessert also didn't disappoint, although it may be difficult to save room!

The name says it all! It was a cold, wintery night for us and we wanted to enjoy a nice romantic meal to help keep our minds off the crap weather. We walked up and down Haddon Ave and couldn't decide on anything, then we saw That's Amore and went with them. Best decision we could have made. From the moment we walked in we knew it was going to be a memorable night. We were welcomed graciously and seated at "the best seat in the house" which was right next to the big fireplace. The decor is warm and charming with what looks to be local art work on the walls. Very clean and well cared for. We were very comfortable. Our waiter was super friendly. Not over the top, but funny and helpful and witty. Helped us with making our choices for dinner and had GREAT recommendations. He was very professional when it came to actually waiting on us as he was prompt and checked in often, but not toooo often. The food was amazing to say the least. Huge portions. Tender meats slathered in some seriously sexy sauces. If you order a "side" of pasta, you might as well make it it's own meal, you get so much. We were even given two full HUGE glasses of complimentary wine since we didn't have our own bottle with us (it's a dry town so it's a byob place) and it was GOOOOOD wine too. We ordered the "Smores" for dessert to bring back the child hidden inside us and it was so fun. Our waiter had such a good time with us, joking around when the husband accidentally blew out the candle we used to heat the marshmallows and stole a replacement off a near by table, LOL! I wanted to enjoy a yummy cappuccino at the end and let our waiter surprise me with the flavour...he got creative and challenged me to figure out what kind he made so that was fun. At the end of the meal, the chef came to our table and we chatted for a few and just overwhelmed him with our delight in his food. He was very sweet. Overall, there is NOTHING I can complain about. My husband even drew a little Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle face on the paper table cloth (he's an illustrator so draws on everything!) and our waiter ripped it off and tacked it to the "Art Board" in the back by the coat racks. It was a nice last minute touch to the evening. We can't wait to go back. I highly highly recommend this place to any couples out there looking for a romantic evening or even a place to bring the parents for their anniversary. Prices are just right for the amount of food and quality. WE LOVE IT!!!!

My boyfriend loves Gnocchi so we went in to try some for "Gnocchi month". It's obviously homemade and had a lot of options! Very delicious. Service was fast and friendly for a Friday night. No complaints here!

This place is just ok. I'll give it points for being a lower cost alternative for decent Italian fare. Yes, it's better than take-out, but it's not Nunzio or Sappori. The service was fine and the atmosphere is cozy, warm, and fun. The food just wasn't unique. It was something I could cook in my own kitchen.

Great food for lunch dinner or whatever. Only comment is sometimes the wait staff can be very wordy when giving you the daily specials.

After driving by and seeing the place get more and more popular, I knew I needed to give it a try. I was soooo pleasantly surprised with my whole experience. First, let me explain that I almost never eat Italian food out. I am an Italian girl and more often then not, my mom can out cook most places. That's Amore has become my exception to this rule! The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the wait staff is friendly while still being professional. I got the garlic bread, goat cheese pillow (love that it is called a pillow), and rice balls for my appetizers, and they all were remarkable. I liked the rice balls, but they were a bit too heavy just for my taste. The goat cheese pillow , oh my ! Tonight it had sun dried strawberries and aged balsamic vinegar and came with crusty bread...just amazing - salty, sweat, and earthy. For the entries I got the Chicken Gente and my dinning mate got the Sunday Sauce. Mine was pretty good - not too salty and with the right amount of wine flavor to the sauce. My friend's dish, was amazing. The pork in the sauce was falling off the bone and you could really taste the difference in the handmade pasta. Now for dessert - we got a trio of desserts : Nutela S'mores, peanut butter chocolate chip mousse, and strawberries with cannoli creme. All three were wonderful, but the mousse was heaven on a spoon. I am normally not a big fan of mousse, but I couldn't help but fall in love with this. The chocolate was light, smooth and the peanut butter was subtle and not overwhelming. Also, I loved how the chocolate chips added just the right amount of texture. One of the best parts of the night was when the check came and my dinning mate made me guess the price. A few of things we got, including the desserts and her Sunday sauce, did not have the price marked on the menu. I guessed that it was $100 easily. I almost fell off my chair when she told me that it was only $70! I couldn't believe it! The portions were huge and I was completely stuffed. What a great experience and I will be back for more. You need to stop in and give this new face to the Collingswood dinning scene a try.

Glad to see a successful restaurant is now occupying this location. The previous owner was pretentious from the begining. That's Amore has a more approachable dollar wise for a town that has a ton of great italian already. I recently visited with my gf and her parents. The service was outstanding and my meal, chicken parm, was amazing...not the fake looking cheese and some lumpy tomato sauce...the only complaint from my gf was the mussels were the larger variety which she doesnt like as much...we are excited to head back to try some more!

Went for the early bird special. This is not your typical Italian restaurant. The food is obviously home cooked with fresh ingredients. If you are looking for the usual Italian fare, maybe not your place. If you want unique flavor, home cooked freshness, and relaxed friendly service, this IS your place. We will be going back soon.

I'd give this 2.5 stars if possible but since I can't, 2 it is. My husband and I stopped in here for dinner on a whim one Tuesday night. After looking over the menu we were excited about the food. The menu looked great, the actual food however, not so much. We started off with arancini and the goat cheese pillow of the day. The arancini was crispy golden brown with a nice gooey center. The gaot cheese was topped with dried cherries and pecans and drizzled w/olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Both appetizers were good so it set off a nice pace for the entree. This is when the meal went south. I ordered the salmon special of the day. Salmon topped with sauted spinach and beet risotto with walnuts. Our waiter later informed me they were out of salmon so I substituted with flounder instead. The risotto was good but that's it. The flounder was wraped around a lump of spinach that looked and tasted like it was boxed cream spinach from the local grocery store frozen isle with a sprinkling of grated Parmesan mixed in. My husband ordered the Bella Gente. Chicken breast tossed w/ artichoke, sun-dried tomatoes, potatoes and peperoncini peppers in a white wine reduction. When the dish was set in front of him the first thought running through his mind and mine was that it looked like Chinese food. The chicken was heavily coated in cornstartch and all other ingredients were just tossed in with it. It was like a big stir fry. The chef/owner came to the table and asked if everything was satisfactory. Unfortunately it was just that. Satisfactory. Not good and not bad.

We will not be patronizing at That's Amore any longer after our most recent experience. We were greeted extremely rudely when the owner of the establishment insisted he had to cancel our reservation due to a poor reservation track record, which is completely unfounded. Had we not been with out of town guests and surrounded by other neighborhood restaurants teeming with patrons, we would have left immediately. Once seated, we experienced waiter confusion, dirty wine glasses, waits for bread in excess of thity minutes and the typical, longer than average arrival or appetizers and main courses. Additionally, when the owner was surveying customers at surrounding tables regarding their experience, he did not enquire as to how we were enjoying the restaurant. I suspect he already knew...It is disappointing to have that experience after being loyal patrons but the good news is that Collingswood is filled with great Italian places to enjoy.

I really enjoyed my meal here. The pastas are very freshly made, I tasted many of the appetizers (the rice balls are great!), and the staff was very good and attentive. My only critique is that the two gnocchi dishes we ordered were swimming in their sauces - it felt like a bit of overcompensation. However other than that, everyone was very impressed with the meal, and we're sure to return there soon!

Best food and service I've seen in a long time, and with reasonable prices. We have lived in Collingswood about a year and like to try local places, but keep coming back because we're always disappointed everywhere else when compared to That's Amore. Only thing I wasn't crazy about is their brunch (still good but not really worth it) but I absolutely recommend them for lunch and dinner.

Overall, I was extremely pleased with my visit to That's Amore; the food was absolutely outstanding and the ambiance was nice. Decor was a little odd (not bad - just an odd mixture of things), which was a little distracting. Our server was very nice but would disappear for long periods at a time. However, our meal started off with complimentary glasses of wine, which more than made up for the slow service. Also, the portions were huge - my friend and I each got entrees and split them, and I still wound up taking home enough leftovers for two more meals! I would definitely recommend this restaurant...with the caveat that it wasn't a fast meal (we were there for about 2 hours and didn't even have dessert).

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
