I have been to That's Amore a couple of times now and I am hooked on the gnocchi and meatballs. It is really difficult to find a good meatball and even harder to find one that is excellent. I found it! I now get them as a takeout order with sauce (which is also really good. They also have a dish there called "Sunday Gravy" which has pork, veal and beef which is hearty flavorful. Bring a nice bottle of wine and enjoy I am sure you will like it.
This is one of our go to, super favorite spots especially when we are in the mood for Italian. As other people have mentioned this place is small and tables are close together, definitely recommend making a reservation. Despite the tables being close there always seems to be enough background noise where you aren't listening to other people's conversations. All meals here start out with fresh bread that comes out piping hot, accompanied by their Sunday Gravy to dip your bread in. This is such a yummy start to the meal. We have tried a lot of menu items and some of our favorites are the goat cheese pillow of the day, the Arancini (tastes just like what we had in Rome), and the Caesar salad. My must have every time we are here is the house made fettuccine with vodka sauce and add grilled veggies. I love this vodka sauce so much, it's my favorite. I really have no branched out to a lot of the other entrees because I don't want to miss out on this sauce. The servings are large and I always have leftovers to enjoy for the next day. My husband especially loves coming for Macaroni and Cheese month, their version with shrimp and jalapenos is his favorite. They offer special multi-course dinners for holidays like New Years Eve, Valentine's Day, and a brunch on Mother's Day. We try to take advantage of these when they pop up because the menus are always outstanding and offer treats that are not always found on the menu. We really enjoyed their take on brunch when we went for Mother's Day, it was a mix of breakfast foods along with Italian specialties. Since it's in Collingswood it is BYOB, so make sure to bring a bottle of wine with you to complete the meal.
That's Amore is one of the most complete and satisfying dining experiences in this fiercely competitive Collingswood area. I went with the parents yesterday for my birthday dinner and was not disappointed! The waiter was personable, knowledgeable, and was able to come at the right times within the small restaurant setting. The restaurant's ambiance fully encapsulates a traditional Italian atmosphere. After we ordered, a fresh and burning hot loaf of bread was put on the table with a dish their signature Sunday Gravy. Even if I was a traumatized burn victim, I wouldn't be able to stop eating the perfect hot bread and 5 star sauce. We were so satisfied with the basket of bread that we almost forgot about our actual dinners. They were able to happily accommodate my mom's dietary restrictions for her salmon and build my father's shrimp covered tilapia to perfection. I had a massive and mouthwatering chicken parmesian cutlet with bowl of divine angel hair pasta. The bill before tip was a very reasonable $62 for the 3 dinners with a special $10 birthday coupon I brought. tl;dr Excellent traditional Italian experience. 5 stars. On a side note, I brought a first date here 2 years ago and they brought us a complementary bottle of wine after they found out. Fantastic service is never forgotten!
