Awesome..!!! This is the quintessential old-school steakhouse it doesn't get any better than this..!! I highly recommend this joint if what you're looking for is prime rib or catfish.. The essence of the Midwest.!!!

Prime Rib is as good as it gets. Spaghetti sauce makes you question why you order Prime Rib when you could eat a big plate of spaghetti. Love both. When we want a nice meal we go to Farmer's!

Classic steak house, good cuts and fun ambiance. Untouched by time, a must visit in Omaha.

Consistently good. Best prime rib if you want to taste your meat and it is VERY good quality meat. Spaghetti is a little sweet for my taste but all the other sides are simple but done well! I'd suggest the hash browns extra crispy with onions and cheese. Good place to bring your grandparents :)

I'm honestly not sure how I came across Farmer Brown's on Yelp but I knew at some point we'd have to give it a try. You see, I am a simple Okie at heart, growing up in a little small town (that's not so small anymore). Anyway, I love out of the way diners and restaurants and this definitely fits the bill for "out of the way". I checked out the menu online and the menu seemed diverse enough so with the in-laws in town for the weekend, we decided to give it a shot. First of all, it gets busy quickly. We showed up for an early dinner around 5 pm on a Sunday and were seated right away. However, as we were leaving, they were full and on a wait. So, this place has a loyal following. We walked in and I would say the decor is dated. That's OK but just know that you are not walking into a modern looking place. It looks like your great grandmothers house, for good and for bad. Once seated, we were greeted by our server, who was not overly thrilled to see us, at least it didn't seem so initially. She did warm up a bit! We all ordered. Our table had pork chops, T-Bone, ribeye, a couple of chicken fried steaks, and a kids chicken fingers. I personally had the ribeye with green beans, baked potato and salad. All the sides were fine, nothing to write home about but good. I have mixed feelings on the ribeye. The steak itself was very good. Prepared the way I asked and tender. Unfortunately, as others have said, they put no seasonings at all on the steak. None. And I understand the rationale: To let the beef do the talking. But, I like a little something on mine. I think you can find a happy balance to give it some extra flavor while also letting the quality of the beef shine through. So, I added some salt and pepper and it was a fine meal. It just wasn't great. My father in law had the T-Bone and couldn't stop talking about how great it was. One of the best steaks he'd ever had, he said. So, he loved his. My MIL had pork chops and enjoyed them. My wife and oldest son had the chicken fried steak with cream gravy and it was mixed in reviews. My son loved his. My wife felt the breading was a little bland, again no seasonings at all, just flour as far as we could tell. It could have used some seasoning but the gravy was excellent. The spaghetti side, which my wife ordered, was interesting. It almost tasted like an A-1/marinara combo. Sweet tasting. My wife wasn't a fan but I liked it. Not your usual spaghetti sauce, to be sure. Our server was actually very good and efficient. The name on the receipt was Stacey. She wasn't all that personable to start but she checked on us several times and kept the drinks filled. I don't need a friend as a server but I do like attentiveness and she provided that without a doubt. Maybe just a smile or two thrown in would be nice :) However, service was very good. The overall rating here is tough. The reviews were a little mixed but I think this will get bumped up to a four star. The prices are more than fair. I mean, the ribeye was something like 23 bucks with two sides, salad and bread. It's a good meal for what I considered to be a modest overall price for a good steak. I'd love to have the option to season my steak before grilling. Maybe they can ask when you order? Putting A-1 on a steak is blasphemy but just a little flavor would be OK too! I'm not sure if we'll go back, unless the in-laws come back because they loved it. But, I can't say much wrong either. It's just not that great steak for which I am looking. The search continues......

An old-school small-town steak house that's now close to the big city. The absolute best Prime Rib anywhere! Anywhere! Spaghetti sauce is awesome too! Portions are huge, the smallest cut of prime rib is almost too much. Very reasonable prices.

This is my husband's favorite steakhouse by far, and it used to be mine; however, the last couple of times we have gone there my steak has NOT been up to par. It's as if they abandoned all their other cuts of steak to focus solely on prime rib. I have had the top sirloin and the petite filet on the last two occasions; both were completely without flavor (not sure how that is possible), and charred pretty badly on the outside (yet rare enough to my satisfaction on the inside). If they could go back to where they were about 6 years ago, this place would be my favorite again! Maybe the next time we go I will make up a little batch of truffle butter to take along, just to give the meat some flavor.

Looking for a good prime rib dinner on a Sunday night and thought we'd check out Farmer Brown's since it's close to Omaha. Since we'd read mixed reviews we were unsure. We started with the combo fried mushrooms, cauliflower, and zucchini basket that was served with honey mustard and nacho cheese essentially. Nothing special but not terrible. They also serve complimentary bread which looked to me like a hoagie bun of sorts meant to be split, but it came out warm with butter and tasted pretty good. Went with the spaghetti since the green beans were from a can (I asked) and personally thought the sauce was WAY too sweet, however it did come out piping hot. Now for the prime rib - the reason we were there, what is supposed to be the shining star of the show. While the cut of steak looked great and both of ours were cooked perfectly, I cannot stress how under-seasoned they were. The au jus was more like brown water on the plate and didn't add any flavor. It was really disappointing. This is truly the reason for the bad review. We both decided that for a $50 meal we'd never go back.

My husband and I arrived 9 pm on Friday night to a nice crowd. They are open until 11 pm. The dining rooms were nice and clean, well lit, vinyl table cloths, cloth napkins and nice semi casual service. We began our meal with the fried mushrooms and cheese "sauce." I think it was Velveta at best. The other choice was a mustard sauce which I would try next time. The mushrooms were okay. We ended up squeezing lemon on them in lue of sauce. The salad that came with the meal was iceberg lettuce. I wanted olive oil and vinegar but it was most likely canola oil. The bread was amazing. It was a yeast loaf butter softened and salted? It was yummy! We both had the green beans which were fine, nothing special. We both ordered and enjoyed the Farmer's Daughter size Prime Rib that was probably 18-20 ounces. It was ordered medium rare and served in its juice. It was so tender and flavorful I forgot to salt and pepper it and had to remind myself that I was eating meat as it practically melted in my mouth! My husband had no problem cleaning his plate. I required a take home box. The menu was quite varied offering a nice seafood selection of lobster, shrimp and king crab legs as well as breakfast foods, chicken dishes and spaghetti/Italian meals. And sadly, we were unable to try out their desert menu. I can only plan to try each of these varieties in their turn and look forward to the adventure! This is a gem in the greater Omaha area and highly recommend you give Farmer Brown's Steak House a try.

Great food great drinks good friends good gravy. Highly recommended, it might be a little wait but the bar has some of the best Margaritas in Omaha.

The service was good and the steak was tender and cooked perfectly, but everything including the steak was bland and lacked seasoning. Sad, because the steak would have been really good with even just some salt and pepper.

Steak and more steak. Served with spaghetti. Old decor has been the same for my whole life. Our sever was so kind and she continued to offer anything to make our meal better. I got a t bone because it's so beast.

I went in to enjoy some dinner with some friends the other day, and when I sat down, I was asked to take my hat off (which was a flat billed hat) because they like to keep it old fashioned. Now, normally I wouldn't have a problem with this until I saw a woman at the table next to me wearing a baseball cap (both flat billed but curved bill) with her ponytail going out the back. The way I see it, there are two possibilities here.(or both at once). The first possibility is that they are so old fashioned that they contradict their own hat rule by allowing women to wear hats, which in turn would be SEXIST. The second possibility is that they view flat billed hats to be thuggish. It is most likely a combination of the two, and this restaurant needs to keep up with the change in times. If they are going to say they have a no hat rule, then they need to equally apply it to all customers and not segregate.

Celebrated a birthday at Farmer Browns. Classic steak house with awesome food. Prime rib was prepared properly and was great. Hashbrowns with cheese! If you have never been, do yourself a favor and go!

FIVE STARS. I ordered the Farmer's Daughter cut of prime rib and upgraded to the end cut for $5, which apparently meant "bring you the entire rest of the slab of meat". As I did my best to wash down Beef Mountain with a whiskey I came to the realization, "This is it, this is the place where Bob Devaney drank 500 beers and invented the I-formation". Do yourself, your family, and your country a favor: visit Farmer Brown's steakhouse.

Is this place a little diamond in the rough or what? You could easily drive by here and not think twice about going, but I was referred here by a friend who used to live in Omaha. He said if we go anywhere for a steak while visiting Omaha, it had to be this place. It did NOT disappoint. We went on a Friday, and they were extremely busy. We waited close to an hour, but boy was it worth it. My husband and I both got the medium sized prime rib, cooked rare. I'll just say this: COME HERE HUNGRY! It was HUGE. I couldn't help but eat the whole thing though....it was tender, juicy, perfectly seasoned (tasted like maybe just a little S&P), and perfectly cooked. The staff was efficient and quick...they were getting people in and out faster than any other restaurant like this, while still serving amazing food and not making you feel rushed. Truly a farm-to-table, family owned, local business. It's worth the wait!!!

Seeking sophisticated style? Impressed by trail-blazing recipes and bold presentation? Wanna show off your new suit or dress? Happy hanging with hipsters and poseurs? Feel the need to spend wads of cash or really light up the credit card? Then stay in the city. The only reason to come here is for the best prime rib and steaks available anywhere, served in an casual, informal atmosphere. Plain and completely unpretentious, this place is always packed.

The place is known for their prime rib, and they do it well. The rib eye was also excellent and cooked the way we asked. As for the rest of the meal it was mediocre. Typical baked potato and salad, nothing special. The place is outdated and might be hard to find if you're not familiar with the area. The place is always packed so my theory for that is it's either a really good steakhouse or it's the closest steakhouse around the Fremont/Waterloo area for people to hit up on a Saturday night, maybe a combo of both. I probably won't return unless it's for an event that someone else is hosting because I feel there are much better places to eat at in the Omaha area. That being said, I say if you haven't been there and at least tried the prime rib you should check it out.

Ribs, large filet, and farmers cut ribeye was ordered for our table. Everyone gave thier food 3 out of five stars. Portions are big and you won't leave hungry, but food was somewhat bland. Spaghetti served with every meal. Marinara sauce is very sweet. Not bad, but it won't be shock and awe knock your socks off.

Allow me to preface this review with: I AM TOTALLY NOT THIS PLACE'S TARGET AUDIENCE! As a result, I gave them a star higher than I wanted to. Oh here's why: I'm a vegetarian. Eeep! But in case anyone was curious, there isn't much to be eaten here by non-meat eaters, but that isn't why people generally go here anyway so I'll keep my review focused on other things. Very dark, very...um... lived in. We had a large party in the banquet room, and there were only two waitresses helping our 20 person group. They seemed overwhelmed and tended to ignore us as a result... in a "if we don't show our faces, we won't have to deal with them" kind of way. A giant, errant, spaghetti noodle from my s/o's plate (he did not order any noodles, btw) was delicately strung over my back by the waitress as she hastily deposited our meals on the table, so that was a bit... ew... Same old iceberg salad, and same old baked potato. Beyond that, this place could have a whole bounty of meaty goodness that I know nothing of.

Went here last weekend. The place is off in the country and old. Those are both signs of a supreme steak house. It was a full house of people celebrating events, having family dinners and all that good stuff. Even when I left around 9PM there was still people waiting to get in. The staff is kind and there were no problems, for anyone in the whole place. It's pretty cool. I ordered the Prime Rib med rare, it was the bomb! Comes with salad (house dressing is good), potato, and spaghetti. They had a small, med, and large size. Also, get the horseraddish. I had a night of drinking planned and after the medium size I was mega stuffed. I'll upload a pic of the steak!

I grew up eating Farmer browns and for many years it was my favorite steak house. At some point they stopped putting any seasoning on the steaks and that really took it down from a 5 to a 4 for me. They have a following of mostly older folks and I think that may be why they opted to stop with the seasoning. The prime rib is still excellent. They make homemade Italian dressing that is like nothing I have ever had before, I am mopping it up with bread every time it is that good! I also love the little dish of spaghetti on the side the homemade marinara is amazing!

I've come here with my family many times over the years. We've never had a bad meal or cocktail here in over 30 years of making the trek west from Omaha to "Farmer's" The menu offers great variety and really is the prototype midwestern steak joint. It is family run and these folks care about their customer's and know many of them by name. The prices are fantastic and the portions are very good sized. I usually get steak and lobster and I love it. Comes with the little butter pan that is kept warm by a candle. That is old school!! Most everything comes with a bread basket, side (I like spaghetti with the fabu sauce) and a potato side. Can't say I've ever had a dessert there beyond the "surprise" birthday cakes that have been part of our visits over the years. The portions are such a great value and it is rare to find that on the west coast. Now, the only trick is getting my GF to go with us to check it out next time we're in Omaha. I'll have to see what a non beef eater thinks and get back to you. A warm welcoming environment, fabulous food, nice stiff drinks if you need one, and an overall great value. Place does get crowded and you might have to hang out in the bar for 40-60 minutes before getting a table, but it is totally worth the wait.
