What a cute little cafe! We had breakfast here twice in a row during our little weekend in Plattsmouth. The waitresses are super friendly! When we saw our first waitress again on our second visit she made a big deal about us coming back. It was sweet, and made me miss living in a small town! As for the food, I had the build-your-own omelet which is a deal at under $6 for four toppings. My husband got the Egg BLT which was so good, we both ended up getting the same thing the next morning. The coffee was pretty good, and they were nice not to get annoyed at the absurd amount of cream and sugar I used. One eventually brought me one of the big sugar containers you can pour instead of the tiny packets (score!). The only criticism I have is that our sandwiches took a VERY long time to come out since the place got so busy, but the waitress apologized a lot and we didn't mind since we were enjoying our coffee and conversation. I'd definitely go back!

Well I guess I'm just not convinced that 2 bad experiences ain't enough. I was headed through Plattsmouth on the way to Lincoln (can't get to Lincoln from Sidney any other way these days) and even after bad experiences at Mom's I convinced my dumb ass to try breakfast there again. The waitress was way cool and accommodating and I ordered 2 eggs over easy, 2 sausage patties, toast and milk. The sausage was SO greasy I took 1 bite, not believing it could be THAT bad I took a bite of the eggs, hmmmm not bad, over easy, hot, me likes. I cut into the sausage and it squirted, yes folks, it SQUIRTED, water or grease or ???? all over my plate. I finished my eggs, finished my toast with mixed fruit jelly, paid 10 bucks and left. That's it, NEVER AGAIN, great concept, nice people and seriously crappy food.

Maybe the best open-faced roast-beef sandwich smothered in gravy that you'll ever eat. I say "maybe" because I have never actually eaten one, but all my friends say they are super-terrific. I pretty much stick with the cheeseburger and fries, which are just plain good enough. The waitresses are friendly and attentive, though the last time I was there, my waitress must have been hard of hearing. I ordered my usual cheeseburger and fries, but she brought be a Reuben instead. Maybe she knew better than I. Maybe I had been getting into a rut, a routine, a grind. I did not send it back. Why embarrass her? Anyway, the Reuben was fine. And so was the Diet Cola (can't recall whether Mom's is a "Coke" or "Pepsi" establishment). My only complaint: someone was sitting at my favorite table. You know, the one by the window with all the knick-knacks on the window sill. I took some pictures on my previous visit. Maybe I'll post them sometime. The thing is, this guy, the one sitting at my table, left not 5 minutes after I got there. I would have asked to move, but didn't want to cause a scene. Besides, like I said, the waitress was kind of hard of hearing. She may have misunderstood. Unfortunately, I had an appointment right after lunch, or I would have stayed to see the demonstration on mopping "the navy way."

We've been visiting Mom's Cafe for at least 16 years and the quality food has not changed. The strawberry pancakes are incredible as well as the huge and out of this world BLTs. The wait staff make you feel a at home and actually talk to you if they aren't too busy. The chicken fried steak is also great. Love Mom's Cafe!

My fiancé and I had brunch here last weekend. It was phenomenal! Super clean and a very welcoming atmosphere. Made me feel like I was back home in the south. I had the Weekender (bowl of hash, topped with gravy and two fried eggs, with a biscuit on the side) and my fiancé had a chicken philly. A lot of food! We left fat and happy. Two things I didn't like we're the waitresses had a little disagreement when someone took our order that wasn't our waitress, and we got iced tea instead of sweet. We will definitely be making this our regular breakfast spot!

My sister and I were in town for the first time checking out the annual Harvest Festival. Since most businesses wouldn't allow non customers to use the restrooms (we needed to change my nieces diaper and there is no changing table in the public outdoor restroom), we decided to find a place to get a bite to eat. We're so glad we chose Mom's Cafe! We come from a small, rural Missouri town and the homemade, homegrown, prepared from the heart dishes really hit the spot. I had the chicken fried steak, mashed taters (white gravy) and green beans. My sister ordered the meatloaf, which also had mashed potatoes (brown gravy) and green beans. Country cooking at it's finest. Portions were plentiful so we split our entrees in half and swapped so we could enjoy more of what Mom's has to offer. Now, I am a bit of a breading snob. Most of the time I scrape at least some if not all of it off, even on KFC. I like it lightly seasoned but crispy not soggy...anyway, long description short, mom's breading was AWESOME! I would go back simply to try another breaded item. The meatloaf was also very tasty and I'm very happy they know the importance of using white gravy for some things and brown for the other. Another plus the potatoes are REAL. I absolutely HATE fake potatoes. Give me some chunks, give me some skin, give me real or I won't eat them! The rolls I could live without. They are obviously store bought but not a deal breaker at all. Hot homemade rolls would probably make for an even better experience but again, I really enjoyed our meals. One other thing to note, if you're a city dweller and never had country/well water, I'd skip the water and get a soda or something. My sister and I were raised on the stuff, but it's a bit of an acquired taste. The service was also great. Our waitress, as well as others, were very attentive. Mom even caught me snapping pictures of her food and got a good laugh out of it. Decor is very small town country with lots of vintage pictures and signs and knicknacks around. My sister and I both agreed we felt very at home at Mom's Cafe and if you're craving the comforts of a small town, homemade, warm and inviting experience, you'll find it at Mom's!

5 star rating for being totally authentic to their name "Moms"! Friendly , Fast & Filling. The Ice Tea was cold, the "Award winning Chili " was worthy of its billing. Ok, Mom's Chicken Fried Steak was super, huge portion, gravy perfect & married with eggs & crispy hash browns, was a great call. I was served by Hannah, super friendly & attentive, everyone greeted me and made sure I was tended too....just like my Mom used to take care of me. Make sure to stop in and get some "comfort food" Thank you

Very good local joint. Went for breakfast with the whole family. I really enjoyed the omelette with Chipped Beef and Gravy over it. VERY tasty. My father had the GIANT chicken fried steak, Overall good but need to work on getting the batter to stick to the steak.

This was a regular breakfast stop until we discovered The Chocolate Moose down the street. But as Chocolate Moose only serves breakfast on Saturdays, we still show up at Mom's on other days. Mom's is tasty diner food. It isn't fancy. You'll end up sitting between a couple of farmers and some nice elderly ladies enjoying a meal out, with a family of four behind you. The wait staff is friendly; service can be slow at times. The coffee isn't great but it is hot and there's plenty of it. We've eaten there many times, but only for breakfast. I usually get the french toast with eggs (perfect over-easy) and sausage (their sausage is delicious--this is not some nasty Jimmy Dean gristle patty; next time I'll have to ask if it is house made). Bruce always always gets the chicken-fried steak. Being the chicken-fried steak connoisseur he rightfully claims to be, please note that when he put's Mom's chicken-fried steak in his Top Five, this is deserved praise, indeed. When you do go, bring cash! Mom's does not accept credit cards.

Want to see a small town cafe with good food and a sassy waitress... swing on in. Sarah hit it dead on. Everybody in our group was happy with their choices, I know my folks go often, it's just a tad far from home at 475ish miles away!
