One my favorite steak places in Downtown Omaha. Spencers always delivers great service and good food. Its pricey but its well worth the dollar. Happy hour is good for fine dinning restaurant. The bacon mac and chesse is really good or hamburger. Hopefully I have enough time to stop by in next month

Well worth it. I was staying in downtown Omaha and felt like a good steak dinner. Looked at other reviews on Yelp and decided on Spencer's. My hotel gave me a free drink ticket to a competing steak house but I really liked the menu at Spencer's so I decided to go there. The service was top notch, i couldn't have asked for anything better. Very friendly and attentive. The food was fabulous. The steak was cooked perfectly as well as seasoned perfectly. Too many times a steak house will either over season with too much salt or under-season with nothing at all. It was delicious. The mac and cheese was mouthwatering and and I highly recommend the brussels sprouts. The one thing I really liked was that they were able to do half orders of the sides. The house salad was also very good; I liked the dressing. All in all a great dining experience and what I also felt was affordable for what you get. Highly recommend.

Yes the 3 star rating. Went here with a bunch of colleagues and dropped $100.00 a head. Appetizers were good. Drinks were small pours except for the wine which was a normal pour. They charge too much money for small pours on scotch and other neat or rocks drinks. Some dinners were NOT hot. They were luke warm. Sides were hot and it increased the contrast of the coolness of the meat. Waiter came over first followed by the manager who said he'd comp dessert. Thats fine but, seriously, what is wrong with your kitchen? All in all there isn't value here. You don't really get what you pay for. If you want to go to a true high end steak house, head west to "Mahogany". That's a 5 star meal and experience for roughly the same price.

Best steakhouse in Omaha! Plus I am a little partial since I got engaged at this place, but it really is amazing despite the nostalgia! The filet is absolutely amazing, not to mention the prime rib is melt in your mouth delicious. I really can't go there without having the hashbrowns. I think they fry those things in lard or something to make it extra delicious. The mushrooms and asparagus were very good as well. This is a great place for special occasions. Go have a glass of red wine with your steak... Trust me, it's worth it!

Wow! Just wow. In from out of town and had to have Omaha steak. This place does not disappoint! I had the best steak I have ever tasted. Add the best house salad I have ever tasted and 5 star service. This steakhouse is the one to beat. If having two different men in full suits check on you throughout your meal while what seems like an army of wait staff ensure your place is always cleared and your water never gets more than half-empty sounds like your type of restaurant, this place is for you! 5 stars, hands-down. I cannot stress enough how incredible the food and service was!

First time at Spencer's, a late Tuesday night with a few friends. The service was awesome but the Filet didn't fit the price. It came out medium rare, as ordered, but the flavor was lacking. I have to say, the sides we're fantastic, especially the sautéed mushrooms. I was charged a dollar extra to get my drink on the rocks, which was ice similar to what you'd find in a bag of ice from a gas station. If you're going to charge a dollar for rocks, make them large designer glacier chucks imported by eskimos or something ( williams-sonoma.com/prod… ). I'd expect just a bit more quality for a high end steak house.

I ordered the burger from room service and when it arrived the bottom bun was so greasy I could not hold it together. I ordered the Mac and cheese instead of fries and it tasted odd. Almost chemical like as opposed to cheesy. Good left something to be desired. Maybe it is better in house. I might give it another chance.

The wife, her boss, a co-worker, and I went to Spencer's for Steaks & Chops for a late dinner. Spencer's was across the street from our hotel and the most convenient place for us to grab dinner. We were the party that probably all kitchens hate! We were all hungry after a hellish day of air travel that saw all of our flights arriving in Omaha several hours later than originally scheduled. We arrived at Spencer's a few minutes before 10pm on a Thursday night right before the kitchen was scheduled to close. The dining room had already closed, but the bar was still open and serving food. We were seated immediately and, to its credit, the front of the house and kitchen staff took outstanding care of us. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. When in Omaha, you have steak...and that's what I did. I had the 14oz. Prime New York Strip ($41), medium rare, which came with a side house chopped salad. The wife and I split an order of the Truffle mac and cheese ($8). While my steak was on the medium side of medium rare, it was tender, plenty juicy and flavorful. It was a good tasting piece of meat. The mac & cheese was cheesy with plenty of truffle essence, which contrasted nicely with the applewood smoked bacon and chives sprinkled atop the dish. We ate our meals fairly quickly, getting in and out of the restaurant in under an hour. When faced with a late arriving dinner party, Spencer's excelled in providing good service and good food at a very fair price.

I ordered a Carmel salted martini and even though they never made one before they made one for me. It was delicious. The waiter, Phillip, could not have been more attentive.

What can I say? Back in Omaha and my second night at Spencer's. Last night the Stroganoff was magnificent with exceptional service by Heather. Tonight was steak night with an absolute perfect medium rare Porterhouse recommended by my all time favorite server Phillip along with a fabulous glass of Shiraz. Finished my heavenly experience with an incredibly smooth raspberry sorbet with candied walnuts and a glass of Sandeman Twenty Year Port. If you love a true "foodie" experience, don't miss this place. I now feel as though I am among friends when I come here especially with the host James ensuring that I was comfortable and satisfied. I was....! (And am...!)

After a really bad day of flying, my colleges and I were very hungry. Thanks to Gregg M for finding a place close to our hotel that was still open so we could have a nice juicy steak! When we walked in, the majority of the people were in the bar, so we decided to sit there. I decided to get the filet with a house salad. If the salad was delicious. It had pears and candied walnuts, so it was a great start. Gregg M also ordered some truffle mac and cheese - yummy!; It was to over truffled and the cheese was nice and gooey with a crispy top. My filet was cooked perfectly - medium rare. It was the right size for me, not too big, and I'm sorry to say I was too hungry to savor the flavor, but I do know that it needed no embellishments. I can always savor the flavor next trip.

I want to like Spencer's more, but this being the third time I've been to one, the story is always the same. It's just OK. Service is always good. Bartenders are always friendly. Cocktails are generally decent, though I still struggle to get a Manhattan made perfectly at any of their locations. Things generally start breaking down with the salads. This particular time I tried their Caesar, which is served much like a wedge salad. This requires a lot of work to break down, as the whole Romaine bulb is included on the plate. They also lightly grill the stalk which I'm not a fan of as it generally wilts the leaves and adds to the sogginess. Speaking of sogginess, my Caesar here the other night was drowning in dressing. Coupled with the wilted leaves and it was like eating a pile of mush. I'm just not a fan of this whole preparation. Having been off of red meat since Spring, I decided to treat myself to a small filet. My rule with red meat is to avoid it as much as possible, but if I'm going to eat it, I try only to eat it in a high-end place. This being Spencer's, the rule seemed to apply. I requested my filet medium rare, and it was pretty close -- maybe a little closer to medium than I normally like, but not enough to complain. I appreciated the bartender asking me to cut into the filet to make sure it was cooked to the correct temperature. As for flavor, the filet was good, not amazing. Truffle butter served with the steak contributed nothing more than calories. Steak was tender, but tasted slightly gamey, and I would have preferred it being a little more seasoned. It was also a little greasier than I would have expected for a filet. Still, overall, it tasted good and I did ultimately enjoy it. (How could I not, having not had a steak in months?) The sides were where Spencer's excelled the most. Truffled mac and cheese with bacon was as good and decadent as you would expect. And the sautéed spinach made us feel like we were eating something healthy, even though you could tell it was cooked with copious amounts of butter. My colleague ordered the scallops at the recommendation of the manager, and she seemed to enjoy them greatly. I dunno. Maybe my palette has changed since moving to a more vegetarian, and in some cases, Vegan diet. I really didn't go gaga over all this rich, artery-clogging food. Spencer's, of course, doesn't hold a candle to heavyweights like the Drover, or Keens and Sparks in NYC, and that obviously has something to do with it. But with so much great food to eat across Omaha and so little time to eat it all, I don't think I could make a return trip to Spencer's any time soon.

Not impressed. Service was slow (it wasn't crowded) - but our waiter was really nice. Food was just okay. I wasn't in the mood for a steak but we were staying in the hotel and wanted something easy so we walked downstairs. I had the "stroganoff". The waiter (whose name I don't know because he never told us) explained this deconstructed dish that sounded wonderful. The dish I received was nothing like what he described. It was bland and boring - although I will say the homemade pappardelle ... really good. Brussel sprouts were nothing special. Best in town are still at J. Coco, in my opinion. Poutine was outstanding. Best we've had in Omaha. My husband's steak was ordered medium. It arrived well done. Flavor was okay. Won't be back. Nothing special and it was pricey. Would rather spend that kind of money at Fleming's.

I've been to Spencer's several times over the last couple of years. It's my favorite steak house in Omaha. The service is spot on every time. The steaks are tender and well seasoned. I'm a reluctant carnivore, but this is prime beef and impossible to resist. The sides are very generous and serve three people at least. My favorites are the Yukon mashed potatoes and the creamed spinach. I avoid pork whenever possible, so their mac and cheese isn't for me, but I had a bite and it was quite good. They also happen to make a great cocktail. The Margarita is my favorite, but the French 75 is also very good. I don't experiment too much because the Margarita is so good. Desert is a must. Even when I'm too full for it we take a slice of chocolate naughty cake home because it is that good. The manager (Jim) has always come to the table to make sure that Stewart and I are having a good time and everything is right. I only give a place 5 stars when I'm plotting my next visit before leaving the restaurant. That's definitely true for Spencer's.

I wouldn't say I had the full experience here, since we were sitting in the bar for HH burgers and apps, so keep that in mind. Just as well though, because while the service was pretty impeccable the food wasn't firing on all cylinders. Burgers were the reason we were here to begin with and those shone through, with cabernet caramelized onions, white cheddar, applewood smoked bacon, roasted garlic aioli and house pickles on a pretzel bun. The accompanying fries I could've done without. And the truffle mac & cheese was unfortunately soupy. Calamari 'fries' were squishy and the onion ring breading was almost sweet. Misses on those items as far as I was concerned. So while the burger was tasty, it wasn't enough to make up for the other food items - which were honestly a bit of a bummer. Again, this is just for bar HH - but it didn't inspire me to explore the rest of the menu.

The House Salad is wonderful, can't wait to get home to California to try duplicating it! I had the Walleye, wonderful white fish native to this part of the US, first time I have had it! My husband had the chicken, another one to work on at home, delicious food!

First off I want to say that the service was exceptional. The server knew the menu in and out and was very helpful. Now to get to the food. I order the Iowa pork chop cooked medium rare with a half side of truffle mac and cheese. The pork chop was good, but not great; I've had better for half the price. The highlight of my meal was the truffle mac and cheese. Hands down the best mac and cheese I've ever had. Every bite was filled with an explosion of flavor. Overall, it was a nice one time experience.

This restaurant is located inside the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown Omaha Old Town, only a few blocks walk from the Embassy Suites I was staying at. For our party of 12-14, they gave us a private area. Service was impeccable. Doing the check-in got me 25% off a bottle of white. Coincidentally, they had a special on the 2009 Duckhorn Cab. That was just the beginning. That, plus 4 more bottles of Malbec later and we had an excellent business dinner. They gave us a great selection of appetizers including crab cakes (very good considering it's Omaha). Some of the group ordered their signature steaks which they said were excellent. I had the seafood special which was very good. Overall, service and food were excellent. The waiter was nice enough to remind me the gratuity was included in the bill. I usually give a bit extra when they do that. I highly recommend.

Co-worker and I were in Omaha for one night and felt we'd be remiss to not try the city's signature steaks. Used Yelp to identify Spencer's and we were rewarded with a outstanding experience. Service was more than friendly. Real attention paid to us by everyone from the maitre d' to our waiter (who was also in charge of buying wine for the restaurant) to the bus staff. Our waiter was uncommonly honest, steering us away from dishes that were soon to drop off the menu because the chef was no longer satisfied with the quality of product he was seeing. We were able to sample wines, the kitchen split our salads so we could each try different offerings, and yet the level of service it was never intrusive. The food was every bit as memorable. The filet with truffle butter was perfectly medium rare without an ounce of gristle or chewiness. Simply flavorful meat. The "Spencer Steak" rib eye had gorgeous marbling and all of those pockets of fat that your cardiologist suggests you cut away... but even he wouldn't have been able to leave them on his plate. Half-sized sides of creamed spinach (with plenty of spinach rather than being a formality to justify the cheese) and the mac and cheese were both outstanding; the perfect size for splitting for two. I've been to a lot of cities and states famous for a specific food and been disappointed because I felt like I didn't get a strong representation of that signature item. That didn't happen at Spencer's. If that's "Omaha Steak"... I'm a fan for life.

Satisfying in every way. Excellent service, terrific food. Of course the steaks are greater, this is Nebraska after all. What I hadn't expected was the quality of the side dishes. The chop salad, which comes with the entree, is spectacular coated with a really tasty champagne vinagrette. Don't miss the bacon/maple brussel sprouts. The apple pie was huge, loaded with fruit. This is a first class place all around.

I read several reviews online about Spencer's before going for the first time. As stated several times, the service was outstanding. I would also like to comment on how great the sides are (family style sides) l. The portions were large and perfect! I would disagree on several comments that they have the best steak in Omaha. The steaks were great but a little more charred than preferred.... I would say they are in the top 5 in omaha for steaks. I loved the fact that we could use the hotel garage and they validated our ticket. I will definitely go back!

Nothing right or wrong with this restaurant. It shares space with a hotel but not part of hotel. If you are staying at the Hilton Garden Inn and have children get them to recommend another restaurant. Yelp shows several within easy walking. We entered and I loved the idea of a comfortable booth after a nine hour drive with me sick part of the drive and with two children. I asked if the children could order from the bar menu (sandwiches and lighter plates) but was told no. They told me they had no children's menu. Only orders from the entree menu in the comfortable dining area. So we went to the bar. High tables were out so we pushed two tables for two to make a foursome table. Not as comfortable seating. Husband ordered from entree menu. Child ordered Mac and cheese but too sophisticated for her six year old taste buds. Twelve year old wanted nothing. By this time I was over it and couldn't get glutton free anything but steak. Husband's pork chop was good but sweet potatoes were horrible. Salads were good. I had to ask for butter for a loaded baked potato. The restaurant has few people within. Bottom line. Go someplace else with children or if a hotel guest. They aren't customer friendly.

I was told Spencer's was one of the places to go for steak, but honestly this was the place to be. The place is quite overstaffed, in the classy sort of way. From the man in the suit opening the door, to the boisterous waiters, this really reminded me of something out of a Humphrey Bogart movie. The waiter was quite enthusiastic yet professional, and told us that the place has been voted Omaha's Best Steak several years in a row. He mentioned there is a special 1600F stove for searing the steaks, and after eating here, I understand what he's talking about. The steak really is something special here. Read on. The steaks here include salad, but no sides. Sides can be had for some $8 apiece. The salad was actually quite well done, with the pieces cut up nice and small. Quite tasty, with some nice sour zing. I had the 14oz Spencer Steak. Wow this thing delivers. The marbling was beautiful, and the juices stayed mostly in the steak as opposed to spilling onto the plate like most other places. This was hands down one of the best steaks I've ever had in my entire life. I can still taste it now. Sauteed mushrooms - served in a small iron skillet. The waiter warned it was super hot but I could easily touch the handle so I'm not sure. With that said, the mushrooms were sizzling. Great taste. Truffle mac & cheese - just the right amount of cheese. The truffles really do add something to what you would think is an ordinary dish. Again, my colleague and I were very pleasantly surprised. If you are hanging in the downtown area and have a few extra bucks to spend, I highly recommend this place. I will definitely be back. Recommended.

We were visiting from out of town to share in the joy of our son's induction into Creighton University's School of Medicine Class of 2018. After the awesome "white coat ceremony" that Creighton hosts to officially welcome the incoming class, we were looking for fitting way to celebrate big time. Several locals recommended Spencer's as a top spot in Omaha for steak. Ordered two filet mignons and one Spencer Steak (a 14 oz ribeye). Their steaks are available with various sauces - we tried two with the black truffle butter and one of the filets "Oscar Style." All were excellent! They were perfectly done and tasted fabulous!!! The sides come "family style." We had the sautéed mushrooms and blue cheese creamed spinach. Again, really tasty. The waiter threw in some of their house "loaded hash browns" as a special gift. All of it was really good! But here's what made the experience a 5 Star event. They made a mistake and accidentally brought out three filets instead of two and the one ribeye. They immediately apologized profusely and returned to the kitchen to get the order right. Within a very few minutes they brought out the ribeye, which needed just a little more time on the grill - something they again addressed immediately. Once it arrived back at the table it was perfectly done and tasted superb. Then, because they felt so badly about messing the order up, they comp'ed us a dessert and a flight of aperitif port. The manager stopped by more than once to make sure we were being well-cared for and apologized over and over again for the mistake. In my view, everybody makes mistakes from time to time - no one gets it perfect every time. But, in a day and age where a passion for good customer service seems to have gone the way of the dinosaur, the Manager and staff at Spencer's gave me reason to hope again. They get it! Way to go, Spencer's! If you're in Omaha and hungry for a slice of what makes it a steak-lovers mecca, make sure to put Spencer's at the top of your list. Even if they DO happen to make a mistake (which I'm guessing is rare) they will take very good care of you! Highly recommend!!!

This is a fabulous place with great service and great people. I'm docking one star because I didn't feel the service was very professional for a $200 meal. Now, let me be clear: the service was good, I wasn't upset at all and that's why I'm giving 4 stars. I just felt the service wasn't professional; a bit too casual for the money. The food was great. I don't think they are willing to go rare enough for a steak house. If you want rare, I'd ask for blue-rare. If you want medium rare, I would ask for rare.

In town for CWS. Table was ready at reservation time. Service was great! Steak was cooked exactly as ordered. Wedge salad was wonderful. Loaded hash browns were a great side dish. Will go back at next opportunity.

The food was good, I was the only non-steak eater in my group and the menu was well accommodating. The truffle mac and cheese is the one thing that I can't stop thinking about, it's great. It's rich and really pairs well with most menu items. 5/6 of us ordered steak and it seemed to take a great deal of time considering the restaurant was only half full. On top of that, one of the steaks wasn't cooked properly which seemed rather ironic for a steak house. That would be like Warren Buffet not knowing what number came after 3.. I wouldn't seek this place out again unless it was on the company tab. 5 of us, $360 before tip.

This is a must stop for the Pork Chop and Steak choices. We had a mix of items from the menu and everything was awesome. Our waiter did a great job explaining the menu and suggestions based on what we liked. They have a nice wine selection as well. Great atmosphere for any occasion and the food will not disappoint. You must leave room for the apple pie dessert, it's like nothing I have ever seen before. One slice has roughly a pound of apples in it and the taste is amazing.

Chef is trying to combine too many things into his dishes. Mahi Mahi tacos had about 10 different things going on and you couldn't appreciate any of them or the fish. The batter used was too thick so it was mushy. And who puts fries as the only included in price side dish option for fish tacos? We also had the Four cheese mac and cheese which again had so many flavors that you could taste the cheese nor could you make out what was actually in it. The prime dip was good. Desserts were very good. Service was good.

Great food and service. The only thing keeping me from five stars is they do the one thing I hate - place the steak down and then ask you to cut into it. Maybe I'm not ready, maybe I want to start on the great looking sides - but no I have to sit there and be watched like a kid. Please stop doing this. Besides as it turns out all the steaks were cooked perfected and tasted great. Trust your chefs. The house salad was great.

Very pleased with Spencer's steak dinner. I had bone-in Kansas City strip. Girlfriend had butterflied filet. Both were perfect. Shrimp cocktail and spinach side dish were also scrumptous, as was Naughty Chocolate Cake dessert. Margarita was also just right. Wait staff was very hospitable and attentive. My only slight disappointment was in the Spencer's fries, which were a little thin and not special. But this was just a blip on the radar of an otherwise perfect dinner. We will return.

Came here for a Yelp event...ordered the burger off the happy hour menu...the group also had onion rings, seasoned fries and calamari pieces...Upon walking in, one side is real fancy and primarily for elegant dining, and the other is the bar section, which is also quite nice...the burger was quite simply perfect...from the surprisingly soft pretzel bun to the melt in your mouth bacon, this burger is the standard that all future burgers will be held to...the onion rings were pretty damn good and came with a great dipping sauce...the sweet potato fries had what seemed to be a sugar glaze that was yummy and the calamari pieces proved to be popular...For dessert I ordered the cheesecake...granted the cheapskate in me was unhappy with the price...however, when I took that first bite, I realized if you want perfection, sometimes you have to pay for it...the crust alone makes me want to order it over and over again...the service was impeccable, from our waitress to the gm who made it a point to introduce himself and describe the quality of the burger we were all about to order...I can't think of one thing that I can legitimately complain about, hence the 5 stars...keep up the great work Spencer's...

Fabulous! The moment we walked in the door we felt at home. The customer service was over the top. The food was five star. Great lobster bisque! The filet was cooked to perfection with amazing caramelized roasted brussel sprouts on the side. The house salad was divine. But the service was off the charts! Highly recommend this steak house. The owner graciously offered kind words that lifted me up from a horrible day. I can't thank Mr. Fabian enough for his genuine hospitality. If you want to feel at home and safe while also being catered to with excellent service and damn good food, then Spencer's is the place. No Doubt. Next time I will try the spinach. I hear it's really good too.

At the risk of being redundant, I have to say that there was not one single thing that could have been better about the food, the service, or the overall experience at Spencer's last evening. Sitting in the bar area is sometimes a roll of the dice service-wise. Our server last night was there at exactly the right time, no more and no less. The appetizers were so dang good I couldn't finish the absolutely off the chart burger but I walked out with the kind of grin that only a true believer can grin! My oh my, I'm saving my nickels and dimes for a return trip! This place is the real deal.

If zero stars was an option i would of ranked this place just that. We came in for dinner around 9:30 pm and were greeted unprofessionally and seated way in the back I'm guessing since we were not in FORMAL attire. Not like the place was so formal anyways. People seated we're wearing flipflops!!! We ordered 4 appetizers they were bland with no flavor the hot dishes were COLD!!! Side dishes were cold. Skip this place!!! Over rated like for real!!! I ordered prime rib and it was so fatty and the meat looked cheap like dog food!! Steak was just bad. Bad overall experience!!

We came to Spencer's because 1) we were staying at the HGI and 2) because my husband and I wanted a more "mellow" dinner with just the two of us before our Omaha reception. We came into the restaurant early because our reception was starting at 7:30 and we wanted plenty of time to finish what we knew would be a decadent meal. This was also a great time to go because the restaurant was relatively empty and the service was extremely attentive. Husband couldn't find his ID at first so they were pretty strict about not letting him order a bloody mary but he eventually found it. I kind of think they suspected we were food critics (only on Yelp!). The bloody mary was awesome, had quite the spicy kick. We eventually decided on the filet (him) and the prime rib (me) with sides of the bacon roasted brussels sprouts and the loaded hash browns. I was surprised the husbo ordered the hash browns, seemed a bit on the fly, but BOY was that the best decision ever!! Both meats were perfectly cooked and decadent. The only disappointment were the brussels sprouts... they tasted extra vinegar-y to me and not as crispy as I was expecting (especially since they are served in a miniature cast iron skillet). But everything else combined with the delightful service leaves me with 5 stars. Well done! (pun not intended). Oh yes, and the prices were quite agreeable!

I loved everything here. The name says it: Spencer's for steaks! My wife's scallops were little pillows of heaven though. The server was knowledgeable, but not pretentious like at other high-end places. Those little touches and the care of little details is the value you get that commands the prices. It's funny reading some of the reviews that brought me here. Like the lady who said " I ordered a happy hour burger, and it wasn't the best steakhouse in town, and the French fries!" It's like the people that review recipes who change something and give it a bad review !

A very good meal. I was staying at the Hilton Garden Inn (attached) and was not really expecting much, but was swayed by the Yelp reviews here. Also they were running a coupon special which it turns out just was put up a half hour before I saw it, so I dove in and was happy for it. I had the Spencer Steak which is a boneless ribeye. It was great and cooked exactly like I asked. A wedge salad, brussels sprouts, and blue cheese creamed spinach rounded out the sides. And my waiter made a great wine by the glass suggestion. All were great. I will surely be back. More than anything, I felt like the staff and management were taking care of me which I like at a place like this.

The bartender recommended the Spencer steak. Their specialty. It did not disappoint. He cooked it a tab bit more than I liked, but it was flavorful, and tender. The truffle mac and cheese is the best I have had ever, so I got their house new york cheesecake to go. I will let u know how that goes. Btw, the Spencer steak is massive.

Great steak and good mixed drinks here. I had "Cat" (yep, thats her name) for a bartender and the service was excellent and the salad that came with the steak was really good.

First class drinks, first class service, first class steaks (it is Omaha, after all) and only second class prices: a winning combination. Service at the lounge/bar was as good as table service is, though naturally less intimate, with a full menu selection as well as happy hour choices for far less money. Great asparagus, even in early spring, and better than average liquor brands and a knowledgable bartender to prepare drinks well. From jeans to suits.

Oh boy, what an experience. We made reservations for 5, but when we walked in to the restaurant we were informed that the table wasn't ready, and that we should wait in the bar. We sat there for about 20 minutes without any update from the hostess, who essentially ignored us. We had to go up and speak with the manager to finally make some progress, and at 7:30 we ultimately decided to eat the bar. Tuna appetizer was so so, but I guess that's to be expected when you're in the middle of the country and nowhere close to the Ocean. Pork Belly was much better. Problem was service....it was SLOW, waited 20 minutes for our apps, another 25 minutes for our entrees. Had to ask for Bread, half the table got water, and we were not sure who our waiter was the entire night. Steak received high marks from all of the party, but they definitely lacked a good crust/sear, and the toppings (Carmelized onions, oscar, etc) were totally overdone and overwhelmed the flavor of the steak. Next time, if we come we'll get the steaks with no toppings. One thing we can confirm is do NOT order the gnocchi. It was a oily, horrible hot mess. Glad we tried it, meat quality was good, but overall experience from a service perspective was poor..

Recipe for 5 stars: Calamari "fries" to start, followed by a couple great steaks and some great sides all served with attentive and friendly service. Overall this place is on the list of good steak places in Omaha and a great place to go celebrate that special event (or just because).

Yum, come see Cat. Great service, food, and ambiance. Couldn't ask for a better meal. New York strip steak, spinach with blue cheese and truffle Mac and Cheese priceless. Finish off with Naughty chocolate cake after a great sidecar beginning. Road tripping to Oregon in style. I've been dreaming of a repeat ever since:)

I think Spencer's deserves my first review. I am an avid user of yelp because I end up in places I am not accustomed to. Needless to say upon arrival in Omaha, my girlfriend and I (both in college) knew we MUST go out and find an "Omaha steak." After searching the area, we decided that Spencer's had great reviews and with a little help from a yelp deal, this place won our wallets. Take a review from a first timer with a grain of salt, but I would 100% recommend this place to anyone near Omaha. The service was great. I called ahead and booked a reservation (Bieber was in town, I wasn't going to take my chances) and the sequence of events leading to our table went very smooth. The staff was awesome. Hannah was great at explaining our options, we felt very 'taken care of'. My girlfriend went with the 8oz fillet with half sides of asparagus and the Yukon Gold mashed potatoes (a massive side). She said multiple times that this was the best meal she had ever eaten. Three days later, she is still saying it! Personally, I wish I would have ordered the fillet myself as it looked and tasted amazing. I chose the 14oz NY Strip with half sides of mushrooms and truffled macaroni. I was very satisfied. Zero complaints. The sides were a huge plus to our meal. We love sharing the different tastes. I will never forget this meal. Best part: Spencer's had the options to make the meal affordable (yelp deal, half sides, no pressure to order more items). By no means was it "cheap" but we were very happy with the bill and how Spencer's took care of us. Give Spencer's a shot.

Great restaurant. Went there for a company party last night and was impressed. Fine dining atmosphere but, not stuffy. Ordered a filet and lobster tail which were both done perfectly. Everyone I sat with agreed their food was delicious. Outstanding service

Six of us had dinner at Spencer's on Valentine's Day. The service was spotty, but the food more than overcompensated for a rather inattentive, though quite friendly, waitress. The crab cakes, soup--French Onion & Lobster Bisque-- were remarkably good for starters! The Lamb Chops were among the best I have ever had anywhere, and the steaks were fitting a Chicag Steakhouse rating! The sides, particularly the mashed potatoes and the asparagus, were well-seasoned and appropriate temperature. The dessert offerings were simply decadent. A truly expansive wine list.None of us lives in Omaha anymore, though we return frequently. We all greed--We'll be back!

While visiting Omaha over Memorial Day Weekend we were looking for a nice dinner to have some 'Omaha Steak'...we soon learned that our filet would be from Chicago but that was quickly unimportant to us after tasting our dishes. From start to finish this was one of the best meals I have ever had. Our server Kat provided us with excellent service and made great recommendations for our side dishes and desert. The Caesar Salad was one of the best I've ever had and the Truffle Mac & Cheese literally melts in your mouth. A short walk from our hotel Spencer's has great ambience and I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone visiting Omaha and if I ever find myself in Omaha again I will definitely be enjoying another meal there.

Spencer's is a good classic steakhouse. Service was very good. Wine selection by the bottle is good, but no half bottles and a little weak by the glass for red. Some work to the wine list would be my only improvement. Really enjoyed the 80's music in the background - always brings back good memories. Truffle mac and cheese was really good. Great flavor and will get it again. The Spencer USDA Prime ribeye had good flavor but too much fat. Should have been trimmed better. 1800 degree broiler usually makes for good sear and didn't disappoint. Temperature was a little on the rare side but I will never complain about that. Spencer salad was good too. Staying at the Omaha Courtyard Downtown, the location is great. I will go back.

We had a great meal at Spencer's. Very good service from the get go as the waiter described the restaurant, wine menu, and the specials. He also asked if we had any time restraints. When we told him no, at no time were we rushed to finish the meal. It was delivered at the perfect pace and our waiter and the staff was attentive at all the right times. We started with the seared tuna which was served with a light wasabe sauce and kimchi. For our entrees, we had the fillet and the bone-in Kansas City cut steak. Both were cooked to perfection and well seasoned without being overbearing or too salty. We also had the asparagus and the mac-and-cheese. Which was great by the way. Gouda cheese and applewood bacon. Yep, as good as it sounds. It was our anniversary and they sent over a very good chocolate cake with ice cream dessert. The wine list was extensive and the waiter was very knowledgeable and offered some nice compliments to our meal. Patrons were dressed in everything from khakis and button downs to jeans and cargo shorts. I was a bit surprised by that as it seemed to not be a shorts kind of place. However, the restaurant wasn't so pretentious as to turn anyone away for their clothes. Highly recommend Spencer's.

I mentioned in making my reservation that we were celebrating Valentine's - so when we arrived, we were greeted with complimentary champagne. A nice touch I absolutely wasn't expecting. Our service was excellent, prompt, and attentive - instead of having the specials rattled off as soon as we sat down, our waiter asked what we were interested in and was happy to explain the finer points of dry rubbing in response to my look of polite bafflement. There was a prix fixe option that night with multiple seafood options that looked lovely, but nothing says romance like a hunk of cow, so we ordered off the regular menu. My partner had the Old Fashioned, French onion soup, and a Spencer's steak; I had the Pine Ridge, chopped salad, and the bacon blue cheese filet mignon. We shared an appetizer of crab cakes, sauteed mushrooms, and the mac and cheese. Everything was absolutely delicious - couldn't recommend it more highly.

The happy hour bar menu here is wonderful. I had possibly the best cheeseburger (and fries) here tonight that I have ever had - and it was 6 bucks! You pay more than that for a crummy drive thru burger! Service, food & atmosphere were all outstanding.

Stayed in the hotel so the restaurant was right there and since the weather was not the best I ate there 4 times over a 6 day period. Overall good stuff. Ate the burger twice...not bad...even better during happy hour when it's less than half price. Also had the Caesar salad twice. Not sure what I really think about it. It amounts to less than a 1/4 of a head of romaine that they seem to toss on the grill for some odd reason and then don't remove the core. Like I said not sure what I really think about it but on the other hand I ordered it twice so I must have liked it. One night I had the meat loaf (hamburger in another form??). It came with mash potatoes and brussels sprouts. Meat loaf serving was HUGE. More than I could eat in one sitting. Mash potatoes were fair. Brussels sprouts were pretty good but a little sweet for my tastes. It also came with a salad, so for $24 it's probably the best value on the menu.

For the past few months I've been traveling to Omaha on business and looking for a great steak. I've had a couple of decent steaks at other places but then I ate at Spencer's. The filet rates up there with the best I've ever had and I would say I'm fairly picky. The sides were also great. The service was fantastic. The waiter knew the food on the menu and was more than willing to share recommendations. The atmosphere is very cool as well. Highly recommended if you're looking for a great steak in a cool atmosphere.

Pro's - Food - We had steaks, salads, and sides. All were very well prepared and tasted perfect. Recommend the truffle mac and cheese. Atmosphere - Small restaurant and nice sized bar. Music is Sinatra style and restaurant is not too loud or too quiet. Wine Prices - 2 bottles cost us around 80 dollars. Con's - Service - Waiter was very nice and informative but brought us 2 ribeye steaks when we ordered New York's. Restaurant manager did not apologize for anything. The women got their food on time and when we asked them to reheat the sides when the New York's arrived, the said "I'm not sure we have a microwave." WHAT?! Food Availability - My wife was encouraged to order the scallops described as "pillows from heaven", but then told later they were out. She was then encouraged to order something described as half trout half salmon. However, 5 minutes later, she was told the frankenfish was out as well, so they are good at false temptation. Finally, she got the salmon and paid full price. Overall, the food was worth the high prices, but not the experience and service. I would probably have gave a better review if they would have at least said they were sorry and comped one of the dinners. The waiter and manager need a little more experience with customer relations.

The house salad and French onion soup were great, but the entrees were a huge disappointment. The filets were undersized and cooked improperly. The entrees arrived luke warm (except for the potatoes). We ordered three sides, and while we got mounds of potatoes, the brussels sprouts and especially the asparagus came in undersized portions. Instead of the thin, tender asparagus, we got stalks that were the size of Churchill cigars and not very many of them. Even the wine portions (we ordered by the glass) were undersized, although the after-dinner cognac I ordered was almost 6 ounces. The desserts were fine. I'd recommend a different steakhouse in the Omaha area if your looking for a high-end dining experience.

I will keep this simple. I decided to go by Spencers based on Yelp and the proximity to my hotel. Happy hour had some good deals but I was in the mood for steak. I got the Spencers steak with mac and cheese and spinach sides, it also came with the house salad. Everything was delicious and perfectly cooked. The sides were substantial but not verly fillig which is a good thing. The wine list was pretty killer to as well as the service. I will definitely be back, maybe even bring some backup to attempt the enormous deserts.

Spencer's is attached to the the hotel that I normally stay at in Omaha. I've had some good steaks here, and have generally enjoyed all visits. During this visit, I had the red and gold beet salad, the bone-in chicken breast with green beans and pancetta and truffled pomme frites. The chicken was juicy and very well prepared. The pancetta with the green beans... we know that's always good. Not enough truffle oil within the fries, but I was still OK with that. During this visit, however, the staff and service were the stars of the evening. The server was very friendly, and the three of us - server, fellow diner and myself - had lots of fun during our dinner occasion. However, when bringing my fries over, she spilled the sauce and it went flying all over my clothes. She was totally mortified and did everything she could to help me clean it up. While i was somewhat concerned, I was having such a great time that i wasn't super upset about it (i had one more outfit to wear the next day). In any case, they offered to pay my dry cleaning and gave me several comp cards. Of course, that is what should have happened, but I always give credit when it does. So, I'll return to Spencer's next month! If you live in Omaha, I think you'll enjoy the food.

This was my first trip to Omaha and couldn't leave without trying a good steak. Spencer had good reviews and the Yelp deal helped me not to go over my business travel dinner limit. My waitress, Cat, recommended the Spencer Steak. I thought 14 ounces might be too much but it wasn't. The steak was tender and quite flavorful. You had the option to pay extra for special sauces but that was not needed. I was by myself so I had half an order of the blue cheese creamed spinach - yum! I may not return to Omaha again but was glad I chose Spencer for my steak experience.

The food and service were both great aside from a drink that was ordered from the bar. My sister ordered a bloody marry and it was not made very well. It tasted terrible. The waiter did not take it to be re-made or void it from the ticket.

We came here with another couple before a reception, and it was phenomenal! We had the calamari "fries" as an appetizer, and the chipotle ketchup and tartar sauce were amazing along with. Three of us had burgers, and the fourth had the scallops. We were all very impressed with our meals! The burger was the best I've ever had! Juicy, perfectly medium well, creamy cheese, delicious pretzel roll. I am not a fan of scallops, but they were also so good! I can't say enough great things! We will definitely be back!

The new bar menu is wonderful.... I wish the one is SLC would do the same with the bar menu they have, but they run independently from each other.... Bummer. The additions and extensive bar menu have few great things like truffle Mac & cheese, BBQ tacos and a burger that looked amazing. I will be back for another trip just to try a few more things on the menu.... Nice job guys!

This is a great steak restaurant on the edge of the old market. Ordered the bone-in Fillet with the truffled mac and cheese, yukon smashed potatoes, and creamed corn in a chipotle sauce. Family styled sides meant a nice sampling for my co-workers. The steak was done to perfection. The only thing I wish they had was a smaller desert portion, but hell who can really complain about that.

I would like to say that since I was in Omaha I decided to get a steak but truth be told most of the time when I am traveling I order steak for dinner. I found this place online and decide to walk over from my hotel downtown. Although the restaurant is in the Hilton Garden Inn it was fancier than I expected. Since I was dinning alone on business travel I decided to eat in the bar. There were plenty of people there after work and the atmosphere was nice. I ordered the rib eye and was very happy with the quality of the steak and the way it was cooked The wait staff was nice and friendly also.

It's not difficult finding great meat in Omaha, so that alone does not a five-star meal make. We were greeted warmly by Jim, the maitre d' (or maybe the manager, not sure) who sat us at a comfortable table in their beautiful dining room and traded travel stories and philosophy with us, making us feel like guests in a friend's home. My wife had been craving a filet, and was delighted with an 8 ounce steak cooked perfectly. I ordered their summer salad and pork loin from the prix fixe menu. At $35, including dessert (I'm ashamed to admit I couldn't resist the cheesecake), it was a bargain. Beautiful room, warm staff, efficient service and delicious food...it couldn't have been better.

I went to Omaha for business and stayed at the HGI, so ate dinner here. I sat at the bar and the wait for dinner was MISERABLY long. With that said, the bartender gave me free wine to make up for it and when my short ribs came, I basically licked my plate clean. I am a New York food snob (refuse to use the word "foodie") and these were AMAZING.

YUM. Seriously. YUM. After the kind of day I'd had, I decided to treat myself to a steak. Luckily, Spencer's was attached to my hotel. Bob Seger plus a baseball game meant no seats at the bar, so I got a table. Service was fantastic - Jeff took great care of me, and the maitre d' Jim also checked up on me numerous times. All of the steaks come with a house salad, but not your typical house salad. This one had greens, candied walnuts, little pieces of brie, shaved parmesan, green apple, and a fantastic shallot vinaigrette house dressing. It was excellent. I ordered a filet mignon, medium rare, and a half-size portion of the truffled mac and cheese (half size sides? great idea). The steak came out perfectly cooked, and perfectly seasoned - very subtle, and it melted in my mouth. The mac and cheese ... well, when I wrote my notes on the back of my receipt so I'd remember what I ate and what to mention in my review, all I have next to mac and cheese is !!!. Yes, three exclamation points. Just try it. Its good. The wine list is extensive, and I stuck to an Old Vine Zinfandel. I still had some left when I was done, and Jeff convinced me that the Chocolate Naughty Cake was, in fact, a good idea. I'm pretty sure they call it that on purpose. Most of it went back to the room with me, and I ate it the next couple of days. Think of a flourless chocolate cake, but not as dry, and about three times as thick, with some chocolate sauce drizzled over it and a big dollop of whipped cream. I left Spencers comfortably full and wanting to go back for the lamb chops I saw on someone else's table. I didn't make it back this trip, but next time I'm in Omaha, that will be the first place I head for dinner.

Let me start out by saying that one of the most important things to me is that a fine-dining place "takes care of you." Well, they definitely took care of us tonight on our 5th anniversary. We were referred to Spencer's by a mutual friend of the chef on facebook and the friend used the chef's name (Glenn Wheeler) in the post. After Glenn saw this, he actually took the time to PM me and personally invited me to Spencer's. He promised that his staff would "take good care" of us and he did not disappoint even though he was not working tonight. Kris was our server and he did a great job. It was easy to tell that food was his passion and he went about it with a humorous personality which I loved. We started out with the tomato and parmesean appetizer. Very good. I had the Prime porterhouse and lobster tail along with the lobster bisque soup. Steak was very good, soup was ok, just a little bland for me, and the lobster tail was awesome. My wife had the filet and this was the ONLY downer of our meal. (You have to understand that my wife likes her steak med-well to well-done so she's not exactly the best judge of meat lol.) They had a tough time getting her steak right, but, tried to re-do it multiple times. I think they ended up rushing it b/c they felt so bad and it was just not what you would expect from such a great place... But, at the end of the day, they took care of us and ended up comping a good-sized portion of our bill. We had the truffle mac n cheese, creamed corn, and loaded hashbrowns. All sides were good, but, mac n cheese was our fave. For dessert, we had shared the apple pie and chocolate cake or whatever. Apple pie was the best I've ever had. This experience should really be 5 stars, except for the one problem with my wifes steak... Every place will have a "hiccup" once in a while, but, the thing that separates places for me are some take the extra effort to make it right which they definitely did. At the end of the day, again, they took care of us and that's what is most important in my book. I really just want to thank the staff and especially Glenn Wheeler. We will definitely be back.

It was meeehhh. I expected some delicious steak being in Omaha and all. I asked for medium on my Filet Mignon, but it ended up being medium-rear. The weird thing is that it wasn't juicy! You'd expect a less cooked steak to have a lot of juices and delicious taste. It's like someone punctured the steak while it was being cooked in the oven. I suggest getting the 'Oscar' style steak which has asparagus, butter, and crab meat topping. It's definitely made the steak taste better. The staff seemed very busy that weekend with the Berkshire meeting going on, so they seemed to forget to give us a check. That was okay because we were really stuffed. They also 're-cooked' my steak to medium. I think they just gave me another steak because it tasted better than the first and it was more juicy.

Very Nice - that is how I can best describe Spencers. They feature all USDA Prime meat (except for the Prime Rib, oddly enough, which is one of their house specialties). For starters, I ordered the Cesar salad, and my wife had the house salad. Both were darn good - the Cesar came as a wedge of lettuce, with the anchovies inserted into the leaves - it was great. My wife ordered the Eye of Ribeye, and I had a fillet, both Medium Rare, and both of which came as ordered. For sides, we went with half-sides (not on the menu, but available if you ask) since we were a party of two, and had the Asparagus and the Creamy Spinach (not creamed spinach). The bread that was served was warm and went well with the butter at the start of the meal. The wine list went from the nominal ($30 / bottle) to the wild ($300 and up per bottle). We ended up with a decent bottle of Cabernet, which went will with our all beef entrees. We topped it off with desert, which was a large portion and tasted great. With all this said, why not 5 Stars? 1 word - Standards. When you advertise business casual, in most people's definitions, that's a dress shirt or decent polo and slacks for men, and a nice outfit for the ladies. We had a couple of people stop in for dinner and get seated in t-shirts and shorts. Sorry folks, but if you're coming in for a $150 meal with tip, at least have the decency to wear something that fits "business casual."

Best. Steak. I've. Ever. Eaten. Period. I've been to many steakhouses in the Capitol of steaks in pursuit of anything better than the succulent fillet I ate here... All unsuccessful attempts so far. I just remember telling my old lady to just be quite for a while and let me fully enjoy this moment. The best way i can describe it was the best tasting beef with texture of butter as it melted in my mouth. I get emotional when it comes to food. Spencer's almost brought me to tears. They also have a surprisingly not-so-expensive happy hour. I just wish they had one in West O.

I went in looking for some rockin mid west beef and I got it! Was excellent and I was impressed with the meat and side selections. I took the New York with a couple of sides, Mushrooms and creamed corn. I loved the shrooms! Creamed corn.. that was a girlfriend selection as dairy will ruin my day. However, she seemed to like it. Opened up with a shrimp start which was excellent as well. Place was nice.. not too pricey and overall excellent service. Good place to hit in Omaha if you want beef!

Food was very good and service was excellent. The chicken chop was outstanding as was the corn and brussel sprouts. The hash browns were a bit greasy and the ribeye could have been a thicker cut. Overall I would eat there again and found the quality and pricing to be very good.

Recommended by a friend, Spencer's lived up to the many positive reviews we read before going. Service was friendly and attentive - our water glass was never less than half full and our empty dishes never stayed on the table more than s few minutes. The ambience was cozy - perfectly lit - not too dark and not too light, the music not too loud and not too soft- it did at times remind me of elevator music but mostly a good mixture of older Frank Sinatra style light jazz. Every part of the meal was delicious. A play by play: 1. The appetizer: it was our anniversary so we started with an appetizer and wine. Had the cheese board with several of the cheeses made locally from Iowa and the chorizo was made in house - all were delicious. 2. The entree: i had the 14oz Spencer's steak and my husband had the scallops - 4 large thick scallops - approximately 2" or so in diameter and an 1 1/2 or so thick. Both were excellent - perfectly cooked and mouth watering - moist, tender deliciously rich and full of flavor. I don't know about the scallops but in every bite of that succulent prime cut ribeye the flavor oozed out until it darn near hit your belly 3. The sides: salads accompanied our entrees - they were delicious - light with fresh ingredients and just the right amount of dressing- maybe a mild raspberry vinaigrette. Sides r extra but meant to be shared which softens the sticker price a bit. Our server shared with us that you can order the sides as a half order and half the price which was perfect because I saw the full serving of mashed potatoes at the table next to us and it was a heaping mound of taters way too much for the two of us but plenty for the four sitting at that table. We ordered the half order of Mac n cheese and it was creamy and mild but full of flavor and the perfect amount for us. 4. Dessert: Spencer's joined in our anniversary celebration by sending us home with free dessert. We were too full to eat it at the restaurant but indulged in a chocolate lovers paradise at home - the chocolate fudge naughty cake. 5. The skinny: with three kids in college we won't make Spencer's a weekly or monthly pleasurable dining experience but we know where to go to have a delicious enjoyable dinner.

Don't let the Hilton Garden Inn location fool you. My son and rolled into Omaha kind of late. We checked into our hotel (new Hampton Inn downtown - 4+ stars - see related review) and the people at the desk recommended Spencers. Thanks also to my daughter for yelping and finding this place too - amazing what you can do via cell phone as you buzz down I-80 toward Omaha while your daughter checks out sites on her PC. This should be 4.5 stars ! Great steak, salads were very good; good sides - on par with Flemings and other really good steak places and I've eaten at tons of them in Chicago, NY, etc. Very friendly service and a great bar for watching the games and enjoying a really, really good steak. Great development going on in downtown Omaha - new hotels, restaurants...all surrounding the new College World Series Stadium - very impressed with Omaha!

Outstanding service. Our waiter was attentive but not hovering. He made several recommendations that made the meal even more enjoyable. Tha steak we had was the best we had ever eaten. Although it was expensive it was well worth it and the yelp coupon was a great help..

Food was good. The service was sub par. If the restaurant was extremely busy, I could understand, was it that I ate alone and shouldn't expect better service? Among the many steakhouses that I have been to, this place does not even worth a mention even among the bottom third - especially for the prices. I have been treated better at Denny's and as such the tip will reflect my displeasure.

I'm spoiled when it comes to meat. My parents always served high quality meat from the butcher and never anything that had ever seen a styrofoam tray. I never really order steak at restaurants because A) it's not really my thing and B) I can get a better steak for free just by calling my parents and inviting myself over for dinner. But there I was...in Omaha. When in Rome, do as the Romans do, right? So I did the midwestern thing and ordered the Spencer's cut steak and HOLY CRAP it was the best steak I've ever eaten. My dad, a beef connoisseur, was expecting to like his steak, but even HE was amazed at how GOOD it was. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! Overall, great service, great steak and best French onion soup I've ever had. It aint cheap, but you get what you pay for.

The seared ahi tuna was good. It came with Wasabi which I like. The house salad was decent and the martini was good. The shrimp and crab cocktail was fair. 3 shrimp (large) and a bit too salty of crab. Canned I'm guessing. It was connected to the hotel and near the old market so the location was good.

With a friend in Omaha for the first time and the Easter holiday threatening the availability of a good steak, Spencer's answered the call. Nice ambience (though it was pretty quiet due to the holiday) with lots of dark wood paneling, as you tend to expect from a place like this. Service was friendly and prompt, though the maître d' (who was perhaps also the manager?) got involved in trying to clear some of our plates a little prematurely, which was definitely a breach of good service protocol. Couldn't tell what the deal was there. The food, with two exceptions, was excellent. My friend and I had the 8oz filet, which was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. We shared a side of asparagus which was also nicely cooked (but not overcooked). Each steak also comes with a house salad, which can be upgraded to one of a few options for $3. I went for the gazpacho salad, which was cucumber, tomato, and avocado in a cilantro dressing. Hard to go wrong there, but I couldn't taste the dressing at all, so a little salt was necessary. My friend stuck with the house salad and said it was very good. Seemed to have elements of a Waldorf. My girlfriend, however, started with the lobster bisque. She seemed to like it initially, but the broth tasted (to me) sort of like seawater). Although there was at least one sizable piece of lobster in there, it wasn't what she had hoped for. For dinner she chose the pasta dish, which had a cream sauce and pieces of of ribeye (or sirloin, maybe) and cherry tomatoes. It came out very hot; to the point where she couldn't touch the bowl in which it was served. When it did cool down, it was clear that the sauce had almost no flavor, and the quality of the meat was ok but not stellar. Overall, an unfortunate disappointment for her and perhaps a lesson that it's better to stick with what Spencer's is known for. Good steaks. Pricewise, the filets were $33, which is comparable to what I've seen in the few other Omaha steak houses I've tried. That was the low-end of things as far as the steaks went. With the other above mentioned dishes and one of their cheapest bottles of red wine, out total came to $147 for the three of us.

Good steak!!! Went with my husband and an out of town friend and kept hearing "dang this is hella bawm" (west coast thing hehe) and "this is good steak" up until the very last bites. I was kind of full from already drinking and eating beforehand so I only took a few bites. Yum! Sides were pretty good too - green beans were the perfect cooked yet crispy. This place deserves to be busy. Go here! Reasonable price for steak too.

Best 'Bone-in filet' I have had in a loooong time. I very much enjoyed my dining experience at Spencer's this past Tuesday. The restaurant and bar were quite busy for a weeknight but the server's did an excellent job of keeping up. My meal was delicious. I ordered Lobster bisque, a filet as mentioned, asparagus, mushrooms and mac-n-cheese. Our server, Andrew, was quite knowledgeable and made great suggestions. He was enthusiastic about the NEW menu and informed us that many of their menu items come from local producers and farmers. The Mac was a little runny but had a terrific truffle oil flavor and some tasty little bacon chunks (bacon is my favorite food group) with a nice crispy, bread crumb crunch on top. The filet was a melt-in-your mouth soft, picture-perfect, medium-rare hunk of deliciousness. Drinks were spot on too. Enjoyed a bottle of Veuve Clicquot and some dirty martinis. I'll definitely visit again soon!

We went to this business after attending the Bershire shareholder meeting. The meal was not satisfactory when you consider the price. The table we were seated at was totally freezing. Then the waiter bragged that their stakes were the best in Omaha. The waiter then wen to go get our beers. He took forever and then came back with the wrong beer for my fellow diner. The salad being included with the price of your steak is nice and the salad was good. But, the stake was not good ... It took forever, came out cold and when I told the server that it SSS medium rare vice medium he told me to decide now if i wanted to send it back because later it would be too late. Since he was being kind if weird I did not send it back. But, the steak was not good. Also, the smashed garlic potatoes lacked any flavor. At this point it was obvious to the waiter that we weed not enjoying iur meal. Instead of trying to make it right he just rushed us out. I wow glad to get out of there because e meal became very uncomfortable. I would not recommend e food or the service.

Wow!

I went to Spencer's last night with my family to celebrate receiving my white coat at UNMC. My family is from California and pretty picky when it comes to nice steakhouses. We arrived 30 min early for our reservation and were seated immediately no problem. The service was exceptional - especially the host at the time. The host brought us complimentary champagne and also gave us a complimentary dessert because of my celebrations. The food was incredible from start to finish. We started with a lobster bisque and bread. Then, we had the house salad, filet mignon and Spencer's steak (both cooked perfectly), with sides of brussel sprouts and Mac and cheese. And for dessert we had the naughty chocolate cake! All to die for! It was all so good I forgot to take pics! The food was incredible but the service made it above and beyond. Definitely will come back again!

My wife and I did a weekend getaway in Omaha, and wanted to have a nice dinner. I chose Spencer's based on previous reviews, and they were right! My wife's ribeye and my veal chop were cooked just right and very flavorful. The salads were also very good. The lemon creme brulee was tasty. I didn't care for the garlic mashed potatoes though. They were more "smashed" than "mashed", and a little dry. All in all, a very nice meal. Our server Phillip was great. He suggested a reasonably-priced bottle of wine which went perfectly with the meal. The restaurant was busy with a couple of large parties that night, but Phillip still gave us the right amount of attention. The only negative comment I have is the restaurant was warm and stuffy. They actually had the front doors locked, with a sign to enter through the hotel entrance because of the "extreme heat", though it was only in the 80's that day. We were seated in an area that didn't get much airflow.

Good food but a little pricey. Had the Spenser's steak medium rare. Was rare but still good. Salad was delicious. I would eat here again.

Steaks! Nothing else to say but steaks and service, wow is this place a knock out. I cannot believe anyone thought this place was mediocre. Just wow.

We went here for New Years Eve and the food was amazing. I had a filet Oscar style and it was perfect. Our waitress Kat was great and just added to our experience! We will be going back!

Had the ribeye. Great taste!! Very delicious. The sides come out "family style" so don't order too much! Came with a great chopped salad too. Nice atmosphere, kinda dark and casual/fancy
