Opened in 1919 and still run by devoted family members, Orsi's Italian Bakery has the best bread in town. The quality has not changed over the years. The same is true of Orsi's pizza with its distinctive crust and flavor. The shop has a small and authentic Italian deli counter. The Little Italy location does not have space for dining in, but order a pizza to go and stock up on items for the freezer. The mini pizzas are great for freezing. On visits to the Durham, the Old Market or other downtown locations, check out Orsi's. This business is an old Omaha treasure.

Best pizza in Omaha. Miss frequenting Orsi's for pizza and other Italian provisions. Hope this place never goes away, every Omahan should come here.

The best Italian deli. Get yourself some meats and cheeses at the counter and some fresh bread off the shelf and you're ready for a nice picnic. The pizzas are good too, lots of meat and cheese. The cannoli are the only thing I don't care for as they use pudding for the filling. You can buy just the pastry and make your own filling which is what I do. Take out only. You may have to wait a bit on the weekend.

Orsi's pizza is old school Omaha pizza. Too bad it's takeout but there are benches. Don't forget their garlic bread made fresh on fresh Orsi Vienna bread. I've been getting their garlic bread for years and stop by whenever I get to the Old Market. Hard to find but well worth the time and effort.

Amazing Pizza, Garlic Bread, Spicy Garlic Bread and Bread! Nice thick crust, perfect amount of sauce meat and cheese! The spicy garlic bread is amazing - made with Orsi's delicious bread you can't get anything like this anywhere else. The bread is amazing - I've been eating Orsi bread since I was a small child. It's a staple at Christmas Eve dinner in our family!

First time at Orsi's will definitely come back. The crust was a nice dense yet not heavy in texture. The service was fantastic. The man behind the counter was very helpful in suggesting what to order. The garlic bread is great. Not soggy on the bottom instead nice and crispy.

Had the pizza because I was told "it's the best in Omaha". If this is your 'best' I would hate to see your worst. Not a fan. Bland dough, bland sauce, bland pepperoni. Ok in a pinch but wouldn't take a guest there with any intention om impressing them. Didn't try the meat/cheese counter but looked like thay had a great selection at good prices. Oh yeah - TAKE OUT ONLY!

These sheet pizzas feed about 6 hungry people. At $28.50... that is a good deal. The sauce is wonderful and zesty, and the crust is like a foccacia bread in texture. I wished for more texture and crunch on the bottom. We had half pepperoni and half hamburger. So the pizza is Okay. The other reviews are severely lacking in details. Shills? Now, the bread is a step up. Crispy outside and light inside... the Italian loaf we got was delicious. Finally the Ricotta cookies... outrageous, moist, almond-frosted discs of goodness. : )

I grew up on this bread (the classic italian) and I am not crazy about it as bread I am 100% in love with it as toast. Makes some of the best. Pizza pretty good too, but it's not La Casa.

  • A S.

The pizza is delicious, the garlic bread is my favorite, and the people who work here are some of the nicest and most welcoming people I've ever met. Excellent bakery!

As someone who is not a fan of meat, especially sausage, I was disappointed with the topping selection. There are vegetable options, but not many - mainly just the traditional options. I had a mushroom and bell pepper pizza. The mushrooms were fresh. The crust is pretty thick, also not particularly what I am into. The sauce was delicious, and the pizza was good - just not my ideal. Anyone who likes thick-crust, meat-topped pizza will probably love this place, but if you are looking for something more creative, go to Zio's. There is no seating, this is pick-up only.

A long-standing Omaha tradition in Little Italy. Probably the best bread I've ever had. When I was first introduced to this place in 2000, I found myself eating a half of a loaf, plain. It's just that good and always fresh. I mean, how many breads can you eat plain? That's a short list. I'm willing to bet the pizza is quite tasty as well.

I had an amazing experience here. Got free garlic bread and an upgraded pizza size for being a first-y, the food was AMAZING (I was a pizza chef for more than a few years, so I'm hard to please), and I was able to spend my money at a locally owned business. I will come here again, every time, when my family visits Omaha. Thank you for an awesome food experience!

Love the pizza BUT they have messed up our order the last two times. Instead of olives I got onions. Not sure what the deal is other than both start with "O". They replaced the order but I always feel like a jerk making them fix it.

Best pizza in Omaha! I promise you. Do not miss out on this here. It's a staple of little Italy and is an amazing family establishment. Carry out only however, but take it to heartland of America park across the way or what have you. Could be a good date.

Well what to say? Sort of like, have you ever had pizza on Wonder Bread? Well that's what it's like here at Orsi's. Their pizza dough isn't pizza dough but it's bread dough & not very good bread dough either. I just can't understand what ever didn't happen to Omaha that happened almost all over the rest of America, that being, some pretty darn good, authentic pizza joints! And here's one for y'all, believe it or not, the best pizza I ever had, in America, that is, was at Roma's in Sacramento, CA. Roma was Mexican & she was married to an Italian, recent immigrant & they had this funky place in Da hood that catered mostly to Mexican workers in Sacbutt about a mile south of the Capital Building! What was so great about the pizza was, that the Italian chef, Guiseppe her husband, I guess to please her or the Mexican clientele, would put tons of chilli in the sauce which I thought was simply fantastic!! Beside that, the pizza's were super thick crusted & laden with all those fresh Cali ingredients especially the tomatoes! Actually, now that I think back about it, Campbell's had a gigantic tomato factory there nearby Roma's where you would see hundreds of open bed, tandem trailer trucks hauling mega tons of tomatoes like 24-7 when the things were ripe! Perhaps that might be another reason why the pizza at Roma's was so fantastic!! Oh well, guess moving out of Dodge has been way overdue!!

I've lived in Omaha for 33 years yet I've never been to Orsi's Well, I finally tried one of their pizzas over the weekend. The wife and I were downtown and figured we'd drop by, order a medium pepperoni and green pepper and make the trek all the way back to Bennington. After 15-20 minutes, we got our pie and I immediately took a peak. It looked good and after remembering all the fantastic Yelp reviews, I couldn't wait to get it back to my place. I even decided to further delay my satisfaction by having a salad first. Finally, I got to the pizza but something happened along the way. Maybe it was the 20 minute drive back home or maybe my expectations were too high. Either way, I was disappointed. The pizza didn't have the flavor that I was expecting. The sweet was a little sweet whereas I like it a little tangy. The toppings didn't stand out either. The best part was the crust. Don't get me wrong because I'm not saying it was bad. It just wasn't as good as I had thought. This isn't the first time it's happened to me. I once had La Casa with equally high hopes. I will eat another Orsi's pizza again one day but Mangia is still my place.

Best pizza in Omaha!!!!!!! Since I moved to Las Vegas I have missed this pizza.

  • Laura C.

Delicious! I ordered a half sheet of pepperoni pizza for take out - take out is the only way to go because you can't dine in. I would say their crust is closer to an Italian bread than a Zio's thin crust, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Fresh ingredients, great sauce, not overly greasy. It also didn't have a mass production taste, you can really tell they make everything in house. I will certainly go back.

Stopped in here after hitting the Durham downtown on a Saturday morning. I had heard it was tasty, but didn't really know what to expect. Placed a simple order - a "mini" sausage pizza and a vanilla cannoli to go. Once the food came out (quickly, I might add - less than 10 minutes to cook the pizza during the busy lunch rush), I was so pleasantly surprised when I got home and dug in. I can't believe I have lived in Omaha for 10 years and heard so little about this pizza. It had so much flavor to it - the crust had a perfect texture; slightly crispy but still plenty of doughy body. The sausage on the pizza, though I did not inquire, must have been homemade as it had a very unique and spicy flavor, unlike what you would get at the quick serve delivery places. Finally - the sauce. God help me. This is the best pizza sauce I have ever tasted. Very fresh flavor with so many unique spices it was hard to identify all of them. Overall, this pizza was a cheesy and meaty piece of nirvana that I will soon be repeating. Oh, and the cannoli was a perfect and delicious conclusion to the above masterpiece. Highly recommended.

In addition to the pizza (which I haven't tried) and the bread (crusty, great for hearty sandwiches) this place has some Italian deli selections - several kinds of cheese, 3 or 4 varieties of olives, and a bunch of meat selections I'd be quite excited by if I ate meat (I don't). The folks there are very friendly and helpful; when the fresh mozzarella I wanted was sold out, they made some great suggestions for ways to serve mascarpone and let us try some of the other cheese they had available.

  • Hoang M.

Went there the first time today and everything was soooooooo good. We ordered a medium (1/4 sheet) pizza with sausage and green pepper toppings, and it was the best pizza we have had in Omaha. The crust is crunchy and the tomato sauce is seasoned just right. Will def come back again!

Finally had a chance to try Orsi's last night! Here are my 'lessons learned' that other first-timers might want to note... 1. This is not a restaurant, so don't plan on dining in. 2. This is a deli and bakery also, so come prepared to stock up on ricotta cookies, loaves of bread, and meat/cheese by the pound. 3. You have to call in ahead of time for cannoli orders (typically). 4. Food is ready in about 30 minutes from the time you order. Greatness takes time... 5. It's pretty much physically impossible to eat more than two slices of pizza. Not thin crust, not thick crust, just dense and delicious. Tangy sauce, think cheese, plentiful toppings. 6. 'The Sheet' of pizza, which others have mentioned, is enough to feed a large family, or at least 3-4 high school boys. This is definitely in the running for 'largest pizza in Omaha', since lengthwise it's almost too large to fit through a standard 36" door. 7. They do have a menu available, so stop by and pick one up (it also includes their hours). 8. They do take debit cards now (no checks).

Very friendly people. I asked what the most ordered pizza was and they suggested the Combo. Sausage, pepperoni, green peppers, mushrooms (I asked for no onion and olives). VERY flavorful pizza. Nice crust. Got the garlic bread which was good but not the best I've had. I also got a vanilla and chocolate cannoli. I was dissappointed with these because they were made with pudding instead of ricotta. They were still good but would prefer them to be an actual cannoli. I also got some fresh bread but have yet to make a sandwich with it today. Looks great though. They said they make their own italian sausage as well but there were out. Said they make it about once a week. All said and done I got a Liter of Coke, 1 can of mt dew, half loaf of garlic bread, 6 slices of combo pizza, 6 fresh bread rolls, 2 cannolis ALL FOR $24. So actually it was amazing for the price.

I had one of Orsi's sheet pizzas at a friend's home in the neighborhood. I haven't had such a bland pizza in as long as I can remember. The crust was kind of doughy and awfully dense, not at all crisp like I enjoy. The sauce was pretty much just a lightly seasoned tomato paste. Sausage, peppers, and onions were all ok, but similarly listless. Then they topped it off with canned mushrooms! I really can't imagine how this place is as popular as it is, especially with great options in town like Pitch and Dante Napoletana.

Okay, this is the second-best pizza in the Omaha metropolitan area. My first choice remains Mama's Pizza, but Orsi's does create a one-of-a-kind pan-style pizza. Unfortunately, there are no tables or chairs. It does have a unique "old school" atmosphere, however. Check it out.

A true gem in Little Italy just south of downtown. Perfect food for a large party, football on Sundays, or get a mini pizza and some cheese just for yourself.

Friendly family bakery that makes some of the best pizza in Omaha. Ordered 1/2 sheet pepperoni. Take-out only. WOW!!!! Best sauce in town. Crust is perfect and service fast. It was so good we ate it in the minivan before we left. Cheese bread was superb and the orange flavored cookies were a nice finish. They even threw in a loaf of their italian bread since we were new. I wish I'd come to Orsi's sooner.

Great little place. Was passing through old market at lunch time and grabbed a medium peperoni. Got to talking to the owner and he threw in a loaf of the Italian bread since we have not had it before. Pizza was great, great sauce, great cheese, and great peperoni. Looking forward to making a visit again.

You hear about places like this but rarely actually come across them. Like an Old World neighborhood sort of place. I was just driving around Omaha on my first trip there a few years ago and randomly ran across this place. It was packed full of people waiting for pizzas. If you don't get a pizza though, you can get out pretty quickly. I had a half-loaf of garlic bread and a cannoli. Great stuff. On this last trip, I came back, deliberately coming early to get in on a pizza before everyone else. In addition to pizzas, garlic bread and cannolis, they also have quite an extensive pasta menu, a full deli and lots of house-baked goods that they sell on shelves. While I waited for my pizza ($5.50 for a one-topping "mini," which will feed one), lots and lots of people came in. What was crazy was that everyone seemed to know each other. They all called the owner by his first name and stood back and chatted with one another before ordering. I loved the pizza but, honestly, someone turned me on to Zio's a couple of days later, and I have to admit that they did it a bit better. It's mostly the extra butter in the crust, which is kind of a cheap shot, I think, but their sauce is good also. Cannoli wasn't great, but I've gotten used to some fantastic ones that I get in other cities, so it's hard for me to judge. The filling tasted like Jell-O pudding (I ordered a "vanilla" but got a chocolate) and the shell was a little stale. Definitely better than a lot of other places though. No seating, except benches, so don't expect to eat here. You could get a pizza and eat it over by the river though. I would recommend this place and bring people here just because it's so cool. It's a nondescript building, way off the beaten path, so you just have to know it or, maybe, read about it on Yelp.

A first time Orsi eater. Ordered a large hamburger & black olive pie - was horrid. No taste hardly any cheese or sauce, but lots a, lots a crust! Maybe because I was using a Daily Deal Coupon (had to tell then that when I was ordering) they skimped on the finished product. If I was a business that went to the trouble of doing one of the local coupon offers I would make it the best darn pie I could in order to get some new customers. Not sure this was their thought process. I ate 1 slice and thew it in the trash - I'll save the calories for a GREAT pizza pie!!!!

Great pizza! We got 3 party pizzas and even after having 5 high school age boys and 3 grown men (all pretty hungry) we only ate through 1 & 1/2 of the 3. They are huge! Pizza is great - toppings taste fresh and the crust is awesome. Can't wait to explore the menu!

Best find for pizza in Omaha. I wish we have discovered it earlier. Their pizza is very inexpensive, humongous and delicious. The bread is fabulous too. If you need to feed a crowd for cheap, that's the pizza for you. They serve Orsis bread at Casio's.

  • Joel T.

Magnificent pizza and bread, for sure, but try the gouteroonis (not spelled right, most likely), basically a pizza with a crust over the top. Orsi's is one of Omaha's little-known treasures. Very busy on Sunday mornings and early afternoons, but quick on the cooking the rest of the time.

  • Danny A.

I always wondered if this place was a real functioning bakery or just another old closed down brick remnant of the old Omaha being somewhat outside the old market commercial zone. It is in fact real and real good. As far as 'Italian' pizza goes, I don't know, I've had both better and worse in Italy but nothing like this. The fairly thick crust covered in a tasty sauce seemed to be high quality and the pizza was nice and cheesy. The rectangular pizza made good use of the rectangular box. Since I can walk here I think this will become my primary take out pizza source.

  • Liz M.

Just had some of the BEST pizza I've ever had! Perfect crust and lots of cheese. I'm from out of town and this was a fantastic local find. Be warned it is not a sit in restaurant. It's a bakery. So it's perfect for a take out pizza! They also had some yummy cookies as well. Highly recommend this place!!!

Wowser! I kept hearing about Orsi's, but this far exceeded my expectations! I stopped in 10 minutes before closing on Friday night... To pick up an order that we placed over the phone. Our order was perfect, and the employees working were v friendly. The gentleman working even gave us a free baguette and ricotta cookies (which were the kind of cookies that dreams are made of). Wow! Talk about going above and beyond for your customer. Without a doubt I'll be back. :)

If the pizza wasn't that good (which IT IS) the customer service alone would make me come back to Orsi's again and again. The owner, Jim, went out of his way to serve us so well that he even put the pizza on our plates with his own hands. A TRUE SERVANT. Would love to come back next time I'm in Omaha.

Two things: great pizza and great service. Yes, it's take-out only, but you're getting great pizza and great service. I was leading a lunch meeting today and mis-timed my planning. I called and asked how long for a sheet, and when I explained my dilemma they offered to expedite it. I stayed basic with a half combo/half pepperoni, they finished it on time for me and I was on my way. And of course they made a great pizza. Oddly enough, two people at the meeting said afterwards the meeting was great. Since it was a typical committee meeting, I can only assume it was because of the pizza.

We had a half-sheet at a customer site this week. I love their crust! It's similar to The butter crust Godfather's used to have. The square pieces were also nice - a little less messy. Toppings were generous; we had pepperoni all over with half hamburger and half sausage. TONS of pepperoni. I'm a fan of their sauce as well. Super yummy!

It's good! A local Italian bakery with fresh baked cookies and breads made every day. We stopped in for a lunch while visiting Omaha. They have a great pizza sauce. There are no tables to sit at so just make your way over to great American park and eat your pizza there!

At least two or three weekends out of every month I am on the road. Each of those weekends I make it a point to find a small pizzeria in whichever city I am staying. Hands-down, this pizza was easily in the top three that I have ever had. The sauce was just the right amount of sweet, the cheese was flavorful, and the crust was out of this world. very highly recommend this pizza!

    (5)
  • Christy H.

Friendly beyond words, quick turn around, fresh ingredients, I don't believe I need to say more other than I will be back again and again! It's been a long time since I've had a fresh cannoli, I'm so excited to have found this gem so quickly since moving here. I got a loaf of Italian bread, garlic bread, a mini pizza, cannoli, and some ricotta cookie! All made in store!

Orsi is not what you would expect at a traditional pizza shop however, there food is excellent. This place is supper friendly, on more then one occasion we have gone in for a pizza and walked out with much more.

  • McGhee O.

We went here because everyone said it was the best in omaha. The pizza was very good, I will give them that. But I had to knock off two stars because of the "cannoli". Pudding inside a cannoli shell is NOT cannoli. That was not good. If you're gonna be an Italian bakery, you should really make real Italian food.

  • Gary G.

Orsi's has the best pizza in Omaha! Every time I have a party I order from them. The crust is not too thin not too think, and the ingredients taste great. The large slab will set you back $35ish but it will feed a small army. The half meat, half veggie is always a crowd pleaser:)

  • Kirsten M.

I have enjoyed Orsi's pizza for years and have even referred business to them. No more. My husband called to put an order in at 7:40, the person answering the phone gave him a hard time for calling close to closing time (eight), but took the order anyway - a quarter sheet - half veggie, half sausage and mushroom (I don't eat meat). My husband came home with a pizza covered in sausage and pepperoni, so I am left with nothing to eat being that it is after eight, we can't get a replacement. Waste of money. Very displeased.

  • Mike S.

Pizza. Good. Sauce. good. bread . great. There is oned amazing thing about Orsi's and that is service. I recall my first time. I said I had never had it and I was given samples of nearly the entire menu. All the items rock. If you wish for more pizza than you could eat. get a large. Otherwise a medium is just enough to feed a bunch of folks. We order a few times per month and my guests love bringing some home. Go here and get some. Omaha favorite

  • Erin O.

Orsi's is my new favorite for pizza in Omaha/Council Bluffs! Friends and I ordered a half sheet pizza last Friday: half pepperoni, half cheese. Once I sunk my teeth into the piping hot pizza, there was no going back. The dough was thick but not heavy, the tomato sauce was tangy and fresh, the layer of cheese was generous, and the pepperoni was layered neatly underneath. Pizza perfection! Their half-sheet at $20 feeds about 4 hungry people; it contained maybe 12 very large squares. We had leftovers. I can't wait to try their cannolis next! Remember: Orsi's is take-out only, so grab 'n' go and eat it somewhere awesome (like Chop's Bowling).

    (5)
  • Stephen H.

Good pizza! I don't know if that's the owner that takes the take out orders or not, but he needs to soften his approach when taking orders. Instead of "What do ya need?" Let's try "What can we get for you today?" The older guy that works the register is pretty nice though.

    (4)
  • Sarah M.

Thanks for the great pizza, Orsi's. Thanks for putting up with our group that showed up 30 minutes until closing and ordered the largest pizza (24 slices, worth it). Thanks for letting us camp out on the benches in front with a folding table, and bringing us free french bread, cannolis, and italian bread. You made us feel like family. Your place has been here since 1919, and you've just scored more loyal customers. We hope you'll be around for many more years to come.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
