This place was more than I expected it to be. It's cool looking joint in a bad neighborhood. Walk in and it's so welcoming and old. I had a burger along with everyone else who went. And they were amazing. The fries were okay old drive in style like. One down side is they change extra for a lot of little things like the sides of ranch we all ordered. My husband felt sick afterwards because it's such a high grease meal but you don't go to a place like this and feel healthy afterwards.

Yum yum yum! I am a semi regular at Louie's and while I do occasionally grab a buger at other places, Louie's far surpasses the competition leading me to keep coming back for more. It's always nice to hear about the daily specials, and while my sister is more adventurous and always chooses one, I stick with my absolute favorite, the blue cheese and jalapeño buger. Yum yum! Every time I go, the entire staff is so cheerful and helpful that one can not help but to have a great time with both the food and staff! Even writing this right now makes me crave one of their bugers! ... I think I'm going to go there tomorrow!

A classic Omaha establishment. You'll often see Louis chatting with friends and pitching in. Lots of regulars here. A friendly vibe. I had the two egg breakfast and added a grilled Italian Sausage, which was fantastic.

Tough choice today: the Smoked Salmon Benedict or a burger? The burger won since it was almost 11AM and it was getting close to lunch time. I had the Jalapeño cheddar burger, fries and onion rings and two bacon Bloody Mary to help wash this delicious food down. Love the burgers here but they always make me way to full because I just have to eat the whole thing! Breakfast is good too and the sausage links are the best I've had anywhere in Omaha! The wait staff is great and very friendly too. How about dessert? Not this time!!

The service was lacking. We arrived and was allowed to sit anywhere. It was a good 5-7 minutes before anyone came by with water and menus. The waitress comes by with the water and I ask for an order of onion rings to be dropped now as I can see other people waiting for their food and I am hungry. The menu says a basket of onion rings $4.99 serves 4. Not even close. They came on a plate and there were 12. I asked the server if this was the basket of onion rings from the menu, she asks how many were on the plate. I don't know, I had eaten one and had another one in my hand, Jason had eaten 2, The server goes back to check. Nope, that's right. about 0.50 per onion ring. My experience is going down hill. She comes around again and takes our order. Jason gets something I'm not paying attention to and I get the 3 burger slider platter. The platter comes with fries and an onion ring and a side of pickle slices. I was disappointed. The staff is wandering aimlessly and Louie is busting his hump schlepping a bucket full of water for cleaning. I just grew more and more angry. I am sure the food was fine. I do remember the blue cheese and jalapeno slider was tasty and would order it again. I ordered a fried egg on the guac and cheddar slider. They trimmed the egg to almost just the yolk. The server dropped off the check and never came back. After tax and tip, it was $40.00 and I was disappointed. Scratch it off the list, there is no reason to go back.

I love that this little gem is tucked away in South Omaha, on this adorable little street! I met a friend for lunch here today and we sat outside under a black awning. The waitresses are all super friendly, and our food was brought out quickly. I got a cheese burger and it was delicious topped with grilled onions and lettuce. It was pretty big too -- I only ate half. My only complaint is the hidden extras. Our waitress asked whether I wanted fries, onion rings, or a combination of both with my meal (get the combo), but didn't tell me it was extra. For an extra $3, no big deal, it was more just the principle. Also, my friend got a side of ranch and it was $1.50. Again, not breaking the bank, but I felt like we were being nickeled and dimed. My bill with just water was $11, which seemed pricey for a burger over lunch. All of that being said, I'd totally go again.

Really great food and really great service. Had a jalapeño cheddar burger and cheese fries. Both were very good. They were accommodating to our large group and made our visit enjoyable.

Good Cheeseburgers! I came here with a few friends on our lunch break. I had never heard of this place before, but it was a very nice lunch meal. I had a medium-well burger with cheddar and Swiss, and some fries. My friend ordered breakfast (they serve breakfast all day) and she liked her eggs. There is a homey feel that they have been in business for a long time, and the staff is pretty nice. Three stars because the food, though very good, is not something I would crave every day, and also because of the area. I am very adventurous, and I have gone to many areas of our fine city in search of great food, BUT....this is a visibly rough area that I would not go to alone or at night. There was a gentleman relieving himself in the sidewalk as we were leaving- in the middle of the day.

It's located in a neat historic part of Omaha that is officially called "Vinton Street Commercial Historic District." I do wish there was a huge influx of money and interest in this little area as it could truly be awesome. I found it to be a mostly average burger. It's not particularly juicy or flavorful. They're flattop grill burgers. No yummy flame grilling here. They don't ask you how you want it cooked and their default seems to be well done. Judging by other 3-, 2-, and 1-star reviews even if you ask it to be cooked a certain way you'll still get a well-done or medium-well burger. Seems to be a frequent complaint. Burger "fixings" come on a separate plate which I thought was a good idea. French Fries and Onion Rings were also a let down. Both are just frozen, out of a bag, from a supplier. Typical shoestring fries and breaded onion rings. Homemade fries and beer-battered onion rings would be a great addition to their menu, but they've chosen to go with the same lame frozen stuff you can get at any discount warehouse. Disappointing. Lots of condiments on the table (4 different hot sauces too). Iced tea is from a fountain. I found that appalling. What privately owned diner like this serves fountain iced tea? Might as well serve instant coffee too. Fresh brew your iced tea or just don't serve it at all! I will say that the people that I saw eating breakfast (they serve breakfast all day) looked like they were eating some really yummy food. So, perhaps that is where this place truly shines? Their biscuits and gravy and their eggs all look magnificent. I will have to try it again for breakfast food sometime. Service was friendly and attentive.

Great food and amazing service! This is one of the top burger spots in o town (IMO)....if the peanut butter burger with maple bacon is on special....get in your car, stat, and order it. Breakfast is also consistently good- delish bloody Mary's as well.

It was quite awhile back that we visited Louie M., but really wanted to leave a reivew, so finally here goes one. The family was very hungry after roaming the Henry Doorly Zoo. Not having a clue as to what were available aroud us, we picked Louie M just so that we could avoid fast foods. We were really really lucky! Didn't know how popular the place was. Owners were very friendly, and loved the suggested blue cheese & jalapeno burger. If it wasn't for the 8 hour drive to get there, I would eat it every week. I'll for sure visit Louie M the next time I'm in Omaha. Highly recommend Louie M!

Every time we've been to Louie M's it's been fantastic! Great food, great people! I love that they serve breakfast late or all day, and the menu has lots to choose from. We try to come here every time we come to Omaha.

We hit up Louie M's for lunch today to crave our Burger Lust! We came out satisfied fully! I had the Italian Burger- and I was dipping the burger that was cooked to perfection in some bomb marinara! I was in condiment heaven and my fries couldn't have been happier! So many condiments and good flavors. Thanks Louie!

You need to go here. It is one of those great places that they treat you the same in a business suit for lunch on Wednesday as they do in soccer shorts and a T-shirt on a Sunday morning. You pray they don't recognize you on Sunday... But they probably do but don't say a word and that's one of the beauties of this place. Breakfast is busy on the weekends. Lots of regulars. But there's a reason for that. Lots of people meet up here on the weekends for breakfast. The breakfast burrito is the best in town. Smothered in homemade green chili. Don't worry about the calorie count. You don't want to know. It weighs about 2 pounds. Filled with eggs bacon hashbrowns and deliciousness. They serve breakfast all day. But if you go for lunch I suggest a little more restraint. The Greek chicken salad is delightful. Lots of grilled chicken. Lots of oregano. Lots of feta. And a side of dressing and pita. All for less than $10. Their burgers are crazy good too. Make sure and get the helping a salsa with it Hone your parallel parking skills. Because parking can be a disaster.

I went at about 2 pm on Saturday when the restaurant was not at all busy. Ordered an Italian Burger and a Cheeseburger. It took about 30 minutes to get our food. Once we got the Cheeseburger it was only a bun the burger and a slice of cheese and nothing else. When the waitress finally came back around about 15 minutes later and she put a plate of lettuce onions and tomatoes on the table and walked away and never checked back except to give us the check. The food was average nothing special at all not worth the drive or the bad service.

I enjoyed a burger feast at Louie M's with a few Yelper pals over the weekend. Overall, a great experience. Loved the atmosphere of this family-run restaurant decorated with pictures, trinkets and newspaper articles about the neighborhood's rich history. Not to mentioned the handful of regulars tucked away at their regular tables and booths. The staff was friendly and happy to accommodate us in the private back room, even though we ended splitting the bill into six different checks. Now we were here for burgers, so let's start with that. I ordered the bacon and guac burger. A hefty 1/2 lb. patty topped with cheese, bacon and -- you guessed it -- guacamole, stuffed between a sesame seed bun. To accentuate the flavors of this burger, it required something different from your typical ketchup and mustard combo. Luckily, they had a variety of sauces at the table, from a couple varieties of spicy hot sauces to a sweet and smoky Asian-inspired "Tiger" sauce. I opted for the hot sauce plus a few of fried jalapenos and onions we ordered as a separate side. The jalapenos (complete with seeds) made this burger burn a little bit -- in a good way. My only qualm was the guac, which seemed to come straight out of a bag. I would've been fine with a couple slices of fresh avocado instead. We also ordered a few sides. The onion rings were all-around good, and probably my favorite of the bunch. Next up, the chili cheese fries -- a heap of fries covered in chili and nacho cheese. Sure, it was OK. Last was the aforementioned fried jalapenos and onions, which were better as a topping than a solo side. The prices were reasonable. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying their breakfast menu.

I have tried liking this place, but just cannot bring myself too. We have tried both breakfast and lunch and was not impressed with either. I think with so much "hype" from people I would expect more. Breakfast was mediocre at most and left me with the desire to hit the bathroom and vomit. I didn't think anyone can ruin sausage and eggs,, but yup they suck-ceded in that. I have also tried the burger ,under seasoned for sure and I had to "fix it up". The fries are definitely out of a bag frozen which ticks me off at these places because of the prices they are charging. The wait staff seems "busy" too busy to pay attention to you ,, excuse me miss can I have more drink,, my burger is so dry I had to drink mine down and I been sitting here waiting for you to come and ask me how "everything is,," but you have yet to come.. Next time someone mentions the place,, I am NOT going to give it "one more try" .. had enough she said,, had enough..

The burgers are fat and juicy. There are lots of options, like grilled onions, jalapeno salsa, mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles. I had the jalapeño cheddar burger. The bun was toasted but the meat was in serious need of seasoning. The french fries were shoestring potato style. I am not a fan, they simply get cold too quick. The atmosphere tries to be a cross between funky and dive. Brick walls on the inside, graffiti on the outside, and old tin ceilings. Service is pleasant but not too attentive. All in all a good burger. This place has glimmers of greatness but, just falls a little short. Close to the Zoo, reasonable prices, and generous portions .

Came here for a good american style burger and was not disappointed. 1/2 pound burger for $6 is more than reasonable. The jalapeño salsa was really good along with the shake. The service was almost par. Waitress was nice just not outstanding. Fries were basically McDonalds style without any salt. Would come here for a burger and shake again.

I absolutely love this place. It's like a hole in the wall, but those are the best places because they have the most character. They have some interesting burgers, but they also serve breakfast all day. I've never had anything here I didn't like: Guacamole burger, guacamole omelet, lox style salmon and bagel, Italian burger, eggs Benedict, you name it. I don't drink coffee much anymore, but I'll drink 5 cups of theirs any time I go.

This gem is a must visit, especially after seeing the zoo. The burgers were delicious and the service good and speedy. The cost is a bit excessive since the extras cost over a dollar each, but it's totally worth it.

This is a great little family place to go for breakfast or lunch. We had a group of 8 which they gladly accommodated. Jmmie Jo was our waitress and she was fabulous. Very personal and very attentive. The food choices were all good. Chicken fried steak with eggs and hashbrowns- awesome!! Hamburgers- wonderful! Cinnamon roll- Awesome! Never ending cups of coffee or soda. Would definitely return. there is a small parking lot before you get to the café. The neighborhood looks a little rough, but don't let that fool you or dissuade you from stopping. Would definitely go again!

Went here for lunch and got the spicy burger. Pretty solid burger. Service was prompt and friendly. We enjoyed the ambiance. It's like this block is the place where time forgot. Would visit again.

My wife and I love Louis. This is a family owned and operated gem in near south O. We have never had a bad meal or service. For breakfast, try the omelet, fluffy eggs stuffed with whatever you want, or the Strawberry french toast. The burgers are all great and you can find whatever you are in the mood for. They also have one of the best pork sandwiches in town. They also serve dinner on Friday and Saturdays. The specials vary, but the ricotta balls for an appetizer, are a great way to start any meal. Service is great, and everyone is made to feel at home.

Came here for a Yelp gathering the other day...I ordered a double cheeseburger with a fried egg...I really liked it but I feel they have the same problem most places do: they don't season the meat in any noticeable way...which is unfortunate since everything else I really liked...great onion rings, really good chili cheese fries and some of the best jalapenos I've had...brought tears to my eyes lol...the service was excellent and the prices were pretty good...I don't know if I'd come back simply for a burger, but being a big fan of breakfast eats and treats I totally will come and try their offerings...

With the outstanding reviews, I expected more. The food tasted so-so.. We had a couple burgers, a chicken sandwich, sautéed jalapeños and onions, onion rings, and fries. Fries and rings didn't taste or look house made, but rather frozen. Fries were lukewarm. Onion rings weren't crispy. I thought it was odd that they didn't ask how I wanted my burger cooked, I didn't think about it until our waitress left, so I hoped for medium, but it came out medium-well to well with just a very small amount of pink left. Chicken sandwich was piping hot and tasted good. I'm not sure how it was so hot and everything else was just warm. Maybe they used a microwave for the chicken. Jalapenos and onions had good flavor and heat. I think the biggest problem with the fries being cold and the burgers being overcooked was that our order was done for a good 5 minutes, but I watched it sit in the kitchen while our waitress chatted with another table. Our waitress was pleasant enough, but the older lady that was seating people and getting water was a grump and never smiled...ever. She also kept bumping into the back of people's chairs as she was walking around the dining room cleaning tables and getting refills. After the 5th time, I finally moved the table a little and scooted my chair in a couple of extra inches to soften the blows. I would definitely choose someone with more personality to be a hostess. I would have liked to have had a nice crust on the burger with lots of juice and flavor, hot, hand cut fries, and hand battered onion rings with a well seasoned batter. If they charged anymore, they would have to deliver all of that, but the prices are fair at about $8 for a burger with fries. I would have rather paid an extra $ though. I thought $2 for the jalapenos was a bit steep, so actually my "ok" $8 burger just at this very moment became a disappointing $10 burger. If I lived around the corner, I might go back and give it another try, but I don't, so I won't.

I was pretty excited to go here when I was told it was regularly considered one of Omaha's best burgers. The atmosphere was interesting; it was basically like an old, kind of run down diner with no common theme or feel, but not in a bad way... it seemed more like one of those hidden gem type places. The service was pretty disappointing, though. Our server was very friendly and joked with us, so it started out well, but once the food was delivered, we didn't get any more service until we had all sat there with empty plates and empty cups for about 10 minutes. Nobody at the table received a refill, so halfway through the meal, several of us were completely out of water. Onto the food! After eating here, I've decided I just must not be a burger guy. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't great. To me, it seemed like the normal, every day burger you can get anywhere. The good thing about it was the price, though... for about $5-$6, you can get a pretty decent sized burger. I figured with the "best burger around" they would try to charge a lot more, so it was good to see the prices stay relatively low. Overall, it was worth a try. It was just an average burger for me, but I really must not know "good" burgers b/c everyone I was with really loved it.

Big old-school burgers and decent menu combinations for them are the trademark here. You must eat a burger here at some point. The waitress called me "babe," and I KNEW the meal would be good at that point. LOL The other interesting thing here are all the hot sauces all over all the tables. If you like flavor (not really hot), try the Pepper Patch sauce from California. Unique and delicious... great on the burger or mixed with ketchup for fries. They have a really good little salsa concoction they make here, too. I put that and mayo on half of my jalapeno cheddar burger. I instantly regretted it... I should have put those items on ALL of the burger!

I came in and didn't know what to expect because I was the only customer there. It started filling up shortly after so in retrospect I had pretty good timing. The service was great, the prices were good for the amount of food you get, but the guacamole bacon burger I got was just was just ok. The guacamole tasted packaged and the burger was more done than I wanted. The fries were nothing special. If I'm in the area again I may try the breakfast food and see if I like that better but I'm on the fence about whether I would stop here again.

Here's a tip. Go for the breakfast food. It is served until close. It is called the Burger Lust but the burgers are very average. However, I will choose a Louie M's breakfast over any in Omaha. Breakfast food is not complex, but you know when things are made with some TLC. The biscuits and gravy are second to none. I highly recommend the omelets, huevos rancheros, and french toast. The shakes are great too. I never order off of the lunch menu.

On the recommendation of some random dude I was standing next to at a concert the night before ("Go to Burger Lust and you'll get the best Damned burger you've ever had" he said), I took my brother down to grab some food after showing him around Omaha. First, I was a fan of the atmosphere. The old brickwork, historical signs, antiques and Motown on the stereo will always work for me. It was also clean; not a necessity in a good burger joint, but it's nice when it is. The service was good; prompt and the waiter was friendly and had good recommendations. I ordered the patty melt, because I like to keep to the basics with a new place. Cheese and grilled onions with a half-pound patty on sourdough. The burger was tasty and not greasy (but not dry, it just wasn't a mess). Not the best fries I've had, but they did the trick. I did like the onion rings; crunchy with plenty of onion. Was it my favorite burger ever? Sorry, my heart still belongs to Louie's Lunch in New Haven Connecticut. However, it was a damn fine burger that didn't cost me much. I will definitely be back again. I would have given this a 5 star, but honestly I ordered about the most basic item there, and they have burgers that are a lot more adventurous. Once I check back a few times I will revise my rating if needed.

People who like this place are not lying. It is true people make food, but sometimes the surroundings you eat it in matters. Food and atmosphere make for a cool experience. This place is pretty much a no fail choice. Do it. Don't forget you can get a "drink" with your breakfast.

What a great little place on a nice historic street. Never heard of the place and a buddy and myself were jonesing for a great burger so we tried out luck with sir I and she guided us to this cozy little gem. The food was great and shoestring fries which are my all time favorite so that was an awesome bonus. Did I mention the wonderful waitress who treated us wonderful even though we were sneaking in right before closing and treated us just the same.

The reviews from yelp and our waitress suggested to have the Italian burger. It was awesome. Kids had mickey mouse pancakes cut and done up like mickey. Wife had a salad that she couldn't finish. Well worth the trip out of the way to Louis M's!

Stopped in on the recommendation of Gallerist John Rogers of Gallery 72 on Vinton because he said that they do a Great Burger & a friend visiting from Tokyo, Japan was looking for a Classic American burger so we went. Rioji had the cheese shroom burger & said it was one of the best burgers he's had in America! Me I had the Bernadin [sp] Belgium beer which I thought was terrible but that has nothing to do with Luigi's spot. Here is a video I made while hanging out & having my beer. youtube.com/watch?v=aPRs…

Burgers are to die for. Definately has the "Hole in the Wall" feel. Was absolutely packed, but we got to sit down right away. I don't know what they use in their meat, but it is hands down the best flavored meat in a hamburger I have ever had. Fantastic.

Had a mushroom swiss burger, chili cheese fries and a chocolate milk shake. And it was great! The burger is what it is - it's a burger with a sesame seed bun. Fries with chili and processed cheese - it is what it is. And chocolate milk shake made from an old milk shake machine and glass is glazed with chocolate - it DEFINITELY is what it is. The service was great. All the wait staff help one another out and I felt like it was definitely a family-oriented place. You saw anyone there, cyclists, church families, punk teens and more. There's no bias, no judgment. It's just good food. I'd frequent that place if I were a local. If you're feeling judgmental, don't go there because they wouldn't want you there and neither would I.

Good spot for a burger fix. GREAT value on some inviting burgers. Nothing fancy but solid delivery. I had an Italian burger that was crusted with parm and served with a side of marinara. Hefty 1/2lb patty. It was cooked well done but it's fatty enough that it stayed juicy. Nice people, friendly owner. Worth a visit for sure but it's not a *destination* burger.

If you want a large meat patty and an affordable price, Burger Lust is going to meet your needs and fill your belly. If your looking for an out of this world burger experience, you're not going to find it here. I wanted to 5-star this place, I really did, but it really only warrants a 3.5. I settled on 4-stars because it really was a pretty good burger for a good price. The menu has plenty to offer and even picky eaters will find a burger they like or something to choose from the all-day breakfast menu. There are also a plethora of condiments and sauces right there on the table to add to your burger if you want to indulge. The exterior mural made me think I would be stepping into something new and trendy but in all reality it is just a cobbled together interior filled with random stuff to look at. I don't think they will win any one over for ambiance unless they are looking for a greasy spoon, but their prices make up for the lack of atmosphere. Burger Lust serves up a nice, juicy, well-done, large-patty burger, but the rest of the burger is just your typical run of the mill everyday unexceptional burger. The bun is just a typical grocery store style bun, something to keep your fingers from getting full of juice not something worth noting. The two small leaves of lettuce and the drying out tomato and onion slice served on the side were far from special. I added a basket of fries to split with my husband and found them also to be nothing amazing, just fries.

My son and I ate here during a recent trip to Omaha for a little league tournament on the recommendation of a friend of mine. We came after a long day of baseball (triple header) so we were really hungry. We came at off peak hours (about 2:30) on a weekend and got seated right away so that was nice. Also we found parking right out front on the street. We started out with a couple of malts, then two burgers (bacon cheddar & jalapeño cheddar) and split a basket of chili cheese fries. The food arrived after a short wait, and piping hot. The burgers are big (1/2 lb) and the basket of fries was more than we could finish and was covered in plenty of chili and processed cheese goodness. The guacamole on my burger looked and tasted like the pre-packaged kind but at least they gave me plenty of it. I wanted to be blown away by this place but I wasn't. The prices are reasonable though and it was good value. Personally I put this above 5 Guys but below Fuddruckers. I would definitely eat here again if I was in the area and there wasn't much of a wait, but I wouldnt go far out of my way.

The males in my family (including the former vegetarians) LOVE this place and would give it five stars without a single moment of hesitation. Me? I like my burgers medium rare, and Louie M's doesn't seem to do anything but well done. I usually get the mushroom swiss and it's good (and huge, and very reasonably priced) but just not quite the level of awesome I'd expect from a place called "burger lust."

I love restaurants like this and try to frequent them more than other more convenient chains around town. Louie M's has been around 25 years, but in a way that compliment's the city and keeps people coming back for more. The food is filling and delicious (don't come here if you plan on counting calories), but expect to feel transported back to a family restaurant with a very cool eclectic feel. Service is always quick, down to earth, and friendly. Great place to grab a bite for lunch or for a family with children. People seem to really love this place for breakfast as well, but it's not for me. Think greasy spoon diner food... but if that's up your alley then more power to you!

Went here on Sunday for breakfast!! LOVE IT. I got the "Breakfast on a Bagel" with hashbrowns. The bagel was soft and warm and the bacon and eggs was cooked perfectly. I should have ate the hashbrowns first because by the time I ate them they were cold :( I will definately be back. Can't wait to try lunch next weekend!!

Old-time looks, old-time food, and even that old-time woody smell... not bad! I got the Egg n' Burger here and while it wasn't all that spectacular I was also able to try the veggie burger, which WAS spectacular. This is one of those more down-home restaurants where you could tell there were definitely a number regulars here. Service was the best part of the day, though, so nice! This is a what I miss when I leave the Great Plains! Overall, 3.5 stars, but 4 since I love the Midwest.

I've heard alot of good things about this place. So before I had to go to the aiport and because they don't serve meals on airplanes anymore, I wanted to grab a quick hamburger. Eyeing the rather lenghty list of hamburgers, I settled on the Guacamole, Bacon Burger with Cheddar. I also asked for griilled onions on it as well. The burger also came with uncooked onions, lettuce and tomato. Put all this together and you get one HUGE hamburger. I normally can eat nearly anything put in front of me, but I left some on my plate so I wouldnt turn green on the plane. In addition I had an order of onion rings. They were thick and were real onions. Really good rings. How did the hamburger compare to In-N-Out, 5-Guys, Hamburger Henry's? This burger is HUGE.....so from a pure carnivore perspective, it beats all comers. This is on par with 5 Guys, just bigger. I didnt try their fries but had their onion rings which were about 3/4 to an inch thick. The bun was good, but not as good as Hamburger Henry's in their heyday. So there is room for improvement. Overall a strong 4 stars . $8.50 for the guac burger and rings. Not bad at all.

Wow. That satisfied our craving for beef. The mushroom Swiss was great and so was Guac bacon. Good sized piece of meat and perfectly cooked. The place was busy with the Sunday brunch crowd but we still received great service. Fries were decent. The place is located in a cool old building with decor showing the neighborhood in it's heyday. And we left with a mystery to boot - why is the building (and the other buildings on Vinton St) not square? Eating with Allergies: The lovely waitress was extremely helpful working around R's allergies. They didn't have ingredients for their regular buns. So she thought of an alternative, found the package and brought it out to us to read. It turned out that it contained dairy so it wouldn't work. But that kind of thoughtfulness and caring attitude makes a bunless burger go down much better.

Great atmosphere and service. Just what you should expect from a great local burger joint. They don't do anything too fancy, just do a good ol' burger the way it should be done. The French Fries were the only disappointment.

Only three stars (you might be thinking?) To tell the truth, I loved the atmosphere, the service was OK, and the burgers while huge, were only a-ok. The story... Parking can be a bit of a chore if you stop by over the lunch hour. Outside those hours there are usually spots right out front or in a little side lot just up the road from the front door. There are two doors (as far as I know) to enter into. Pick either, and it seems to be a seat yourself kind of place. I have mentioned in other reviews that seat yourself places scare me a bit, but after a min. or so, we were greeted with menus and our drink order was taken. The non-breakfast menu seems compact, but when you read over all of your choices, I have a hard time thinking you couldn't find something you liked. If you are coming to a place that has "Burger Lust" in the title, I hope that you are there to have a burger. All of the choices are great. The burgers are HUGE (and at a GREAT price.) It is hard to explain the flavor of the burger other than saying it had that great "juicy burger taste," (you know the one...) The cheese (if you go that route) is nice and thick on the burger, which is a plus. You'll also get a plate of toppings to along with your burger (tomato, onion, lettuce, pickle.) Louie M's also has probably the most extensive table side condiment collection I have ever seen. We are talking no less than 10 items to choose from. For our sides we chose shoe string french fries and onion rings. Neither were anything more than the sentence they got. The decor is diner with a touch of interesting. Neon's on the walls of all sorts, old pictures, wood floors, exposed brick walls. There are tables in the middle that can be put together for large groups as well as some nice 4 person antique looking booths to sit in. The service on our visit was fine. Not bad, not excellent, just good enough. Why only three stars? Like I said, the burgers were just OK. I think that there are several other places in town that do burgers up that extra notch. This combined with the disappointing sides gets the A-Ok rating. Would I come back? If I was in the area, maybe. It just isn't a place that I would drive out of my way to visit again. End.

All the reviews I've seen people love this place. Inside it's like an old diner. Half the menu is traditional diner breakfast. The other half is lunch which includes the burger menu. I decided to go with the mushroom, swiss and dijon burger with a side of rings. I feel like chef Ramsey on Kitchen Nightmares doing this review because all I can say is. Dreadful. You should be embarrased to call this "burger lust". I had a thick, grey, dry, puck of ground beef. No seasoning I could taste, no lovely crunch crust on the meat, no juice (better known as flavor). No amount of toppings could save that burger, and the toppings and bread were good. It looked like really good quality ground beef, it's a shame the cook didn't know what to do with it. Onion rings were pretty good, a little thicker than I like but still good. Service was friendly. Prices were very reasonable, but I'd rather go somewhere else and pay a $1 more for a good burger. On my food blog on my burger hierachy page, this place is #14. 14 places would have to be closed before I would go here for a burger.

Always a good experience. The food is always on time and the service is always descent. The last time I visited I didn't get a burger, but instead I got the Prime Rib Wrap. I heard great things about it but it wasn't as good as the burgers. Oh, and they usually close at 4 so make sure you don't make dinner plans here.

After three years of trying, I finally made it out to burger lust and they were actually open! Now, after three years I had some pretty high expectations, something along the lines of a cardiac arrest or even a heart murmur. It almost happened. The burger I got was the guacamole bacon burger. It could have been juicier, but with the toppings it was still very delicious. I will be coming back here and will probably eat if they are open!

My husband, son and I had a wonderful, filling, and memorable lunch today. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We had a hard time choosing between the hamburgers and the breakfast. Today we chose the hamburger which were big, lean yet still moist. Cooked perfectly. The buns had the right amount of crunch without being overly toasted. We saw that the soup of the day was split pea and ham soup. Oh my gosh!! By the first bite I was transported to my grandmother's table as a young girl. It was thick and creamy with little pieces of ham that had been slowed cooked into tenderness. You could taste the ham hock that enriched the flavor ten fold. We shared a "small" bowl please note this is the Large soup bowl from your cabinet. I am imagining the large is a mixing bowl size. Our visit was during the Saturday lunch hour it was active but not overly busy. The restaurant is in an older area that was forgotten and then revived at sometime in the past. The decorations are historical and entertaining. You can almost see how the restaurant has changed over the years. The decor is only one facet to the beauty of this gem. Changing it would only alter the sparkle of this place.

Ok, so maybe finally getting into this place on a Sunday might not be the best first impression....so I am trying to put it through that filter. The burgers are great. The actual seasoning in the burger was very tasty. However, the service really sucked that day. We sat for about only 90 seconds before a nice kid served us drinks. It took 15 minutes for me to witness a couple seated after us being waited on. I had to ask her if she would take our order when she was done. Is that great service? I did witness many regulars there and the service for them seemed wonderful. Perhaps it was our waitress, I must think that. My husband had the pork tenderloin and it was like cardboard. Then we had to wait for 10 minutes to actually pay. I hope to try breakfast sometime and give it another chance to see what others have experienced.

I would give this place four, maybe five stars if they could cook a burger to anything under well done. Love the diner feel, staff is friendly, plenty of burger options and a great name. I requested mine medium-rare, and my colleague requested his medium...both came well done. This happened the first time I went too, but I thought I would give it another chance. I just don't understand why so many places default to cooking burgers well done (I'm looking at you too Dinkers) and think they can contend for "Omaha's Best Burger". Hate to say it, but If I really wanted a good burger in Omaha, I might go to Fuddruckers.

Delicious. Quite a diverse crowd, which is great. I got a burger with 3 cheeses & mushrooms and some onion rings. My companion got the Prime Rib Melt & fries. I tried the sandwich and it was so good. I hope to go back.

Fun little family restaurant which is attentive and has what appears to be the best burgers in the local area. The burgers were juicy without being overly oily or dripping with condiments (because there are about 20 sauces and such at the table already for you to slap on) and the drinks were well flowing. Attentive folks to keep your glass full and and engaged while you look at the little bits of small town Americana around the room. Compensates for the one waitress who has been tasked with taking care of the entire room. The wait service and the hostess leaves a little bit to be desired but otherwise nice once they're engaged. Little bit on the slow side with the kind of the attitude of "I guess if you are a local then you already know what to do. " Try the spicy jalapeno and guacamole burger.

There are certain places that vegetarians will be uncomfortable. A meat packing plant. ConAgra's corporate headquarters. Louis M's Burger Lust. The burgers are huge. Order two patties on your burger if you can handle it and if you aren't having lunch with your cardiologist. If you do have lunch with your cardiologist, might I recommend some excercise?

Went in for a late lunch, and while it was satisfying, I can't call it much better than ok. Prices are reasonable- fries are ordered seperate- I did enjoy the chili fries. But it was just a typical diner burger, maybe a little bigger. Extra points for the grilled onion option, but I took the points back due to a lack of tomato. I guess I just expected more from a place called Burger Lust.

I had to pause my self imposed red-meat restrictions because the reviews were so good. I walked in around 2:45 after getting in from San Francisco (they closed at 3:00pm on weekdays). Sorry non-red meat eaters they don't do turkey burgers. But if you have to, they have a veggie burger on the menu. It's got a diner feel with vintage posters, photographs and antiques decorating the area. It's been around for 27 years now, and Sophia, the waitress there was a sweetheart. So the burgers...What I ordered was great. I went with the Bacon Avocado/guacamole burger. It wasn't spectacular, which is why I only give it 4 stars. Don't get me wrong though...great is not bad...just not spectacular. I would highly recommend this place and I will have to try breakfast if I go back because I hear it is served all day.

Fantastic burgers, if you don't mind a bit of grease. There's nothing fancy about their food - just good quality meat prepared well. I especially love the dijon mushroom burger. I ate there biweekly for over two years before I took a job out in west O, and got to know the waitstaff by name. I love this place!

Two star food combined with three-four star service and ambiance means three stars. Wait no, can't do it. Two stars. The creative burger options were great to see on the menu but the super dry super well done burger just didn't live up to my expectations. The toppings available on the side were a nice touch and the Dr Pepper was very tasty. The wait staff was excellent. Ok, I'm really scrounging here. Go to Stellas instead.

With a name like this, how can you go wrong? I had a burger with jalapenos and spicy cheese, if I remember correctly. What I do remember with clarity is how tasty that meat was! I really do not eat a lot of red meat, maybe once or twice a month, and damn, was this beef good. It is meat worthy of lust.

I have eaten at Louie's a few times and always enjoyed my meals there so I thought I would go today with a coworker and write a short review. Had lunch at Louie's which consisted of the Coney Island dog (huge super dog with canned chili, raw onions and cheese on a hoagie roll) along with "crispy" fries and ice tea. Service is excellent and friendly, atmosphere is like everyone else says with a couple of new signs hanging since my last visit. The dog was cooked well and piled on high with chili and onion. The cheese however was hard to spot or taste for that matter. Fries although not "crispy" as ordered were served hot and had good flavor for frozen shoestring potatoes. The dog was knife and fork material so as not so spill all over myself. My fellow diner had the blue cheese burger and said it was "okay". I will be back because overall the experience has always been good there. P.S. Ice tea ouf of a soda gun, yuk... Homemade is always better and shows more that you care about your customers.

In 16 years they have never once gotten my eggs wrong! The Orsi's toast they serve is divine dipped in a little yolk. Burgers are generous and nicely seasoned and are complemented by the shoestring fry basket. We went so often when i was pregnant with my second child 7 years ago that she is named after one of the waitresses. We try to go every other week and always take family from out of town there. Good food, comfortable atmosphere, great memories created.... thanks Louie!

As a vegetarian, I had sadly conceded that I'd never get to experience this spot in all its glory. Then, while shooting the breeze with a bluesman at my local caucus, he mentioned that my wife and I should go try the spinach and feta cheese omelet. We did, and it very well might have changed our lives. Creamy and gooey yet not a mess, the omelet made us believers on our first trip. In addition, the hash browns were served just right - crisp, not sloppy super greasy. We'll definitely be back.

i have gone to this fabulous burger joint for years, i am always satisfied by the quality of the burger and the wait staff. i took a client out to eat and forgot my wallet. i told the waitress and she said no problem, just bring it in later, she said she would leave the bill at the register. You would have thought it was 40 years ago. I LOVE LOUIE M'S!!

One of my favorites when it comes to a great breakfast. A real close contender to Leo's in Benson. I have tried almost everything on the menu in this place and cannot say I have been disappointed in any way. The wait staff has personality which makes the experience even better. You have to love a place that you can get a little sass with your country fried steak , eggs, and gravy. It is local favorite and has been around forever. Give it a try.

Finally got here when it was open. I liked the variety of burgers available. Many burger joints I've been to try too hard to be different, offering Burgers That Should Not Be (asparagus and diakon sprouts have no business being on a burger), but Louie M's does it just right. This trip I had the cajun, which was ok but nothing great (next time it'll be the blue cheese burger). The portion was perfect, I think about 6 ounces, none of that 2/3-of-a-pound silliness. My only beefs (hee, hee) with the place: No temperatures on the burgers. I know first hand how hard it is to cook a perfect medium burger, but with a name like burger lust, you should be able to order something other than (very) well done. The condiments. I like the variety of hot sauces and it was great to see a pepper mill on the table, but French's mustard? C'mon. The fries. Edible, but far from great. They had obviously sat under a heat lamp for a while, weren't seasoned properly, and didn't look like a great product form the start. Sysco offers hundreds of options in this category, and they are only too happy to provide samples. Give it a shot. They onion rings needed help too. No reason not to make these in-house rather then frozen. The service was good, and we didn't wait long for our food. It was the little things and the sides that dropped the score. I'll be back.

Best burgers in Omaha, at least that I've had. Since I'm a classic "can't decide" kind of person, I usually get a burger, skip the fries and order 1 pancake for a side, which is incredible as well. Perfect late Sunday morning meal.
