I have not received my food yet, so I can't comment on the taste...but the service is incredibly slow and the wait staff, in no way, seems to give 2 cents about their job. If you get here at lunch, sit by the window so that you can, at least, eventually enjoy the sunset while you wait for your food.

In all fairness, we went to Joe's last night by request for my daughter's birthday. The service was very good. All menu items were available, and the food was good. It just seems to be hit and miss, but they did well last night. It's just overpriced for what it is.

We went to Joes Crab Shack on a Wednesday, I have never had to complain about service, but this was the worst service I've ever had at any restaurant. First, we ordered a side of crab legs, and the waitress insisted we tried a certain type, and assured us that it was the side portion and the side item pricing ($7.49). When we got the bill the crab legs were rang up at $17.49 per person. We told our waitress that we thought we ordered a side item and she again confirmed that we did and it must have rung up incorrectly. Then the manager came over and told us that we has in fact ordered the most expensive crab they have and the side item price of that was $17.49. She said she would "take off a couple dollars" but that was the most she could do, as if she was trying to bargain with us. In my opinion, if the restaurant was wrong, they should correct their own mistakes. Then it took 30 more minutes for them to fix the bill and then when they brought the bill back it STILL wasn't right. We just paid it anyway because we didn't want to have to sit and wait for another 30 minutes for them to try and fix it. Two people at our table ordered the Mahi Tacos and there was almost no fish on them, mostly cabbage tacos! Totally awful experience with service and management. When we were leaving the table next to us had been waiting for over 20 minutes without someone even coming by to take their drink order. Will NEVER eat here again, worst restaurant experience ever.

We're from Seattle and know about seafood. Very well done and in a fun atmosphere too. Go here if you need a seafood fix!

Food is joes crab...if you've ever been. Service, thats another story. Loooong wait (3hrs). Didnt page like promised, then sat down at picnic table, seriously...3hrs & $50 tab for a picnic table. All this while there were plenty of tables open. Obviously not enough experienced wait staff. None of the "management" even apologized or even thanked me for waiting 3hrs for their sh1ty. Place obviously needs new managment & more experienced wait staff. Go next door to PF Changs!!

Peace, love and crabs. Welcome to Joes Crab Shack.. One of the few seafood restaurants left in Omaha. I've only heard of this place and how insanely expensive it is and how it is not as good as other locations. I'm not sure I believe crab legs can taste much different in a next door state, so I gave this place a shot. I will admit I love the selection of fun music and the drinks are amazing and creative. The seafood is some of the best I've ever had. The servers are always super nice. Desiree seated us on our first visit and our visit last night was with Chris. Both very attentive and kind servers. They both deserve good recognition for being quick, and making our visit feel special. This is a very kid friendly and adult friendly place and we always have fun. My only recommendation is to add more options to the menu. Maybe the cook could be spoken to about not forgetting to place sausage in my dish or sufficient amount of crab legs in my boyfriends. However, the management compensated with more than enough extra sea food for the error. Also the floors are covered with napkins and crumbs. I would like to say that was a one time problem but I noticed this on BOTH visits. Both times we have been seated at tables with obvious dirty chairs and floors. You would have to be blind not to notice the garbage, napkins, meat etc thrown on the floor and I think the woman who seated us was just being lazy. Other than that, it's not as expensive as I feared and I love the food. I just think some employees need to be trained on keeping a dining room clean because nothing is more unappetizing than being expected to eat in filth. As mentioned before the cook needs to pay more attention to what he/she's serving to customers. Three stars. The experience was fun but this restaurant has room for improvement.

Worst experience ever in an Omaha restaurant. Where do I start? Appetizers didn't arrive together. One was about 15 minutes later than the first. Greasy, slippery, nasty floor. You could fall almost every step. Food arrives 50 minutes after ordering. They forgot all of the crab legs in my daughters meal. Takes a while to get the check. Total time is 1 hour and 43 minutes to get in and out. Never again.

Me and my husband went here on a date a few months back, first time at a Joe's crab shack for both of us and will be our last. The service was fine. The food was awful! We had a sample platter for the appetizer and the calamari was extremely over cooked and as chewy as a rubber band. For our main courses I ordered some type of fish and chips plate that came with crab stuffed shrimp. The shrimp was over done. I could not even remove it from the dish to eat it without a struggle and when I got it out to finally taste it, it was so over seasoned with old bay that's the only flavor I could identify. Plus it was chewy! My husband ordered a dish that had orzo pasta in a white wine sauce with different sea food in it. He looked forward to the scallops in the dish most which he said were fine but they were extremely small and very few of them. It came with a lobster tail and guess what.. Couldn't eat that either because it was so over cooked we couldn't get any of it out of the shell! So to sum it up.. We paid about 60 bucks for a small amount of over cooked seafood that we literally could not eat. I should have complained but I'm not the type. We paid the check and even tipped 10 bucks to our server but looking back I wish I had complained and did not pay for our awful experience.

I've seldom had a good experience here. I expected it to be excellent this time, though. I was with someone I adore and nothing could ruin this time spent together. Joe's tried to ruin it, though, by golly. I presented my AAA card for the 10% discount listed on the AAA website, and the manager refused to honor it. Said it wasn't on her list. My question is why wouldn't she have offered a token discount to keep a customer happy? Clearly there were other discounts they DO offer, so the idea is not foreign to them. Considering there's nothing special about this over-priced food, a little customer consideration would have been nice.

I come here once a year when my mom is on town. Crab is always delicious as is the sausage. Our server even helped but my bibb on. See you next year Joe's Crab shack

I think I expected something great.... We started with the crab nachos , which were good, not great. It was a plate of chips with crab dip dumped over it. I also had hush puppies .... Again, they were ok.my main meal consisted of fish n chips. Now this was actually pretty good! Perfectly cooked with a great taste. If I had to choose, I'll just go to red lobster next time:-)

I went to Joe's this past Sunday night for my sister-in-law's birthday and it was just a disaster. My mother-in-law showed up a little bit before my wife and I, and we got there at around 6:15. 6:40 rolls around and we haven't been greeted or have had a chance to put in drink orders. The manager came over and asked if anyone has greeted us yet and we said no. She apologized and offered a couple free apps as an apology. We thought that was very nice. The waiter finally came over and took our drink orders and our food orders. A couple girls wanted an alcoholic drink in their take-home mason jars but they were out of the jars. I ordered a burger and fries and they said that they were out of fries. Seriously? So I ordered the onion strings. About 20 minutes after everyone got their drinks, the birthday girl asked where her strawberry lemonade was, they said that they were out of lemonade. Why wait this long to tell us? So she ordered something else. We finally got our food at a little past 7:30. it took them about 40 minutes to get our food. The restaurant wasn't even half full! I also saw that one of the plates had fries on it. I said that I thought they were out and he said, nope, we found some. Found some? You are either out or not. So I asked if I could just have a basket of fries and he brought those out. I ordered the Surf n Turf burger and the burger was obviously a pre-formed frozen patty, one of my pet peeves. In an expensive restaurant like this, I expect the burger to be hand made, maybe that's asking too much. The burger was not good and it had to have had artificial grill flavor on it. AND they forgot the signature red sriracha sauce that was supposed to be on it, so I had to ask for that. Ridiculous. With not having the mason jars, lemonade, fries, forgetting the sauce on a staple entree, and the food not being good at all, I won't ever come back to Joe's Crab Shack. It was a total disaster from the get go.

Joe's Crab Shack! My husband has always wanted to try this place, so it was time. I was really hesitant to try this place as to how expensive seafood is here in the Midwest, but I guess we can give it a go since we were on a road trip! Atmosphere is family friendly, the bar is located by the entrance. Surrounded by a shopping area (really nice!). Staff seemed great, very energetic. But our waitress seemed to have a brain fart when it came to naming what pop/soda drinks they had. But all and all she was good. Food was mediocre, I had ordered the steak and fried shrimp with 1 side. Steak seemed a little burnt, on the plus side it came out as to how I ordered it. Dirty rice tasted like uncle bens microwaveable rice. Husband had the daddy lobster feast (spicy). Tasted pretty good. Portions were expected to be more for the price. I don't think I will be returning for awhile.

Drinks are half off on Thursdays. Food was great. Service in the beginning was not so good waited for our waiter for 10 mins. Once she came she made up for it!

I wish I would have Yelped before we went . First, I want to say I've always hated this location. All the road turns and branches are confusing for someone not familiar with the area. Service wise - excellent. Our waiter Steve was very friendly, quick, pushed our order through since we had a hungry toddler, and was on top of refills. Food - I thought they had Po'boys?? :( I ended up getting the pasta that wasn't that great (was way better cold). It ended up being almost $50 for two adults (no alcohol) so I didn't think price wise it was a good value.

What a mess! We went here on a Sunday night for my sister's birthday. Made a reservation at 6:30, and showed up around 6:15. Other family members were already here and seated. Around 6:50, We were greeted by a manager who seemed appalled that we hadn't been greeted yet. she offered us free apps. To me, this was more than redeemable, and we went on with our meal. The table ordered drinks for the bar, and were told they were out of Mason jars. 25 minutes, we finally got our drinks. They never brought my sister's lemonade, and when she asked for it, they told her they were out. Apps came out with no silverware and no plates. We had to ask two different people and apps started to get cold. 20 minutes later our food order was finally taken. This was an hour after we arrived. Two of the guys ordered burger and fries and were told they were out of fries!! Out of fries! Come on now! So one of them ended up getting the fish tacos instead. I ordered the Crab Cake Chipolte salad. The description from Joe Crab Shack "Romaine lettuce topped with one of our lump meat crab cakes, black bean corn relish, tortilla strips and chipotle Caesar dressing." About 45 minutes later food came out. By this time, I was soooo over it, it was almost 8:15 by this time. I was hungry and tired and missing the Oscars. Food came out, along with fries!! People had changed their whole order based on these fries. They didn't have them and now then they did. It made no sense. My food was good, my only complaint if that the salad was drenched in dressing. I wish the description would have mentioned that it was tossed and not served with. My husband got a burger, which was just a frozen patty with artificial grill flavoring. You'd think a nicer restaurant like this would hand make their own patties. We then, of course, waited for our bill. Dinner at a restaurant should not take 2 1/2 hours. Soooooo disappointing. Did I mention that restaurant wasn't even half full at any given point? It didn't seem like they were under staffed either... what was the deal? I went to the bathroom before dinner and again after dinner. Both times the bathrooms had toilet paper all over the floor and along the bottoms of the floor has crud built up over years of not cleaning. It's safe to say that I have no desire to EVER return to this place. It seems more of a hyped and trendy place with over priced food and crappy service and organization.

Atmosphere was nice. Food was okay....not great, just okay. We had to ask three different servers to bring silverware to our table after our food was delivered. Finally, the manager brought one spoon and one knife to our table . We had four people at our table, so I guess we were expected to all share that one spoon and one knife (and eat with our fingers instead of a fork!!)! To add insult to injury of bad service, however, was when the waitress handed me her dirty used band aid with the pen when she brought the bill. That was just plain gross. Neither the waitress nor the manager offered any type of service recovery. After that, I would recommend anyone wishing to eat at the Omaha Joe's Crab Shack get a tetanus shot before arriving. For two people, we spent $95 on our meals not including a tip. I am pretty easy going as a customer, but this restaurant did not even come close to meeting any of my service expectations! A few days after this experience, I did receive a phone call from their head office to attempt service recovery, but unfortunately, sending me a $20 coupon on a future visit will probably not be enough to entice me to drive all the way to Omaha to give Joe's Crab Shack another try.

Oh Joe's Crab Shack. We were seated right away, which I was surprised because it was around 7pm on a Friday when we arrived. After being sat we were greeted by our server and put in our drink orders. A few minutes later our waters showed up and we ordered an appetizer and our meal. A few more minutes went by and we received our drinks. After a while we were chatting and looking around the restaurant and noticed on the POS system near our table is an outline of the time for customers to be greeted, provided drinks etc. It seemed like a very efficient and fast timeline, almost perhaps too fast as I don't want to feel like I am being pushed out of the restaurant. Well, I was not disappointed as it took us over two hours to be able to complete our meal. The waiter was very apologetic about the time it took for us to receive our food, explaining it was the rush time for the restaurant. I was happy to be patient but it seemed after a while pretty excessive. We ordered several drinks and they were all quite delicious. The food was good as well, what I have come to expect from this place as I have eaten there in other cities. The staff seems quite friendly but there is a serious disconnect between how quickly food gets ordered and when it comes out. For a chain, I expected more. Will I go back? Probably not and mostly because there are several other local restaurants I would rather patron than a large chain.

  • Doug S.

Well I finally made it to Joe's and I have to say I am disappointed. I know I should not have high expectations for a chain restaurant but I thought Joe's might be different. Once again, I seem too find the slowest servers and food preparers in Omaha. Every step of the dining experience was slow, from getting our drinks, to taking our order, etc. etc. It was as Thursday night, the place was half full and there were plenty of workers. The decor is nice and the people working seemed nice. However, the food was underwhelming. The one and only highlight of the night was the crab nacho appetizer. Lots of crab and cheesy gooiness. Was nice and hot and enough to feed two. It went downhill from there, and not a slow roll downhill but a free fall. I had the Crispy Jumbo Shrimp that were so greasy I ended up painstakingly pulling off all the breading to eat them. They were jumbo but that was about it. I ate a couple fries because they were barely lukewarm, right from the warming tray, simply sucked. The cole slaw came in one of those little cups that you put ketchup in at McDonald's, I got a bite and a half out of it. My daughter got some type of southern stuffed shrimp that were wrapped in bacon. The bacon dwarfed the shrimp so much that I wondered if the bacon had ate the shrimp. The flavor was so overwhelmingly bacon that the shrimp was lost and the stuffing was no where to be found. It came with dirty rice, which would be more aptly named rice as the dirty was only a description of the look of the rice not the flavor, no seasoning at all. Now to the fried balls of dough or as they called them hush puppies, these hush puppies give real hush puppies a bad name. All three were overcooked with a burnt taste and the inside was so dry they simply fell apart. Worst thing I have ate since moving to Omaha, and that's saying a lot. Another one and done for me. Can't think of why I would venture back to Joe's. I'll try Shuck's next time.

My friend and I were in on 9/26 for lunch around 1pm, our Waitress was Abigail (I believe) and she really made it a wonderful experience, she recommended a fabulous appetizers and showed my crustacean challenged friend how to maneuver his lobster and Crab legs. The food was great as usual, we ordered the sampler platter that was suggested (can I order that crab dip by the pound?) and the Alaskan bucket. Those sausages in there are always a yummy touch. I've never had bad food at a Joes, but I will make it a point to come to this location again just because of this charming young lady.

We took some friends there for dinner and I hate to say it, it is just too pricey for the lack of food you get. We will not be back.

I am not a huge sea food fan, but this place looked like a fun place to celebrate birthdays. They had anyone whose birthday it was do something silly. It was fun to Watch. I had a hamburger with popcorn shrimp and I must say it was amazing! The staff were pretty friendly.

Unfortunately went based on experience at other locations. This joes is awful. Service terrible. Food terrible. Atmosphere boring. Will never go back to this location. The only positive at this location is that there are good restaurants nearby for after the disappointment.

  • Matt M.

Is the seafood the best in the US? No. Will you have a great time and get a decent meal? Yes. Joe's is just as much about the atmosphere as the food. It's all about drinking hurricanes and eating pots of messy lobster/crab legs. The drinks are great. The Great Balls Of Fire app is really good. Two of us ordered the Lobster Daddy and it was great. The other person ordered king crab legs and she enjoyed them too. 20 minute wait - not bad.

  • Michele R.

Giving this restaurant one star is one too many! The food is terrible, the server's are rude and the management's attitude is even worse!

    (1)
  • Jerry N.

Came here for a birthday dinner and have always been happy, however this night did not go so well. drinks took 15 minutes. Lobster came out cold. They brought the butter out 5 minutes later. The dinners came out separately so we couldn't eat together. It was going downhill fast until the manager Mike came and made it right and was a perfect professional. We would return again just because he was that great! Joes Crab Shack is lucky to have this guy working for them! We will return because of him!

  • Mark C.

Daughter wanted crab legs so decided to check out Joes. Party of four during lunch on a weekend. Service was good. Food was meh. Got Oyster's Rockefeller - lots of breading, very little oyster. Taste was not really anything special. Crab legs - meat was tasty, but seemed to be overcooked. Fisherman's Platter - a bit greasy. Fish and shrimp were okay. "Great Balls of Fire" (seafood and crab with jalapeno) were way too spicy. Chicken Salad - meh, nothing special. Hushpuppies - okay So, if I want seafood, I will probably look for another location in the future.

Do not ever come here... I don't even know where to start. It sucks that my first review on Yelp is a negative one, but I couldn't let this slide by. It sucks I have to even leave a 1 star review, because 1 star is being too generous. First off, I've been here for an hour and a half and just got my food. The waiter forgot what I ordered and then apologized about the wait, because apparently "all food was taking a while". When I got my food, it was cold and my mother's "medium well" cheeseburger was burnt and same with the bun. Our waiter said he would fetch the manager, and 15 minutes later, the manager stopped by our table saying "we never recovered from yesterday, that's not an excuse, but that's what happened". Sounds a lot like an excuse to me. Our waiter apologized for the burnt burger and bun and promised my mother "extra onion straws". When her meal came out, no onion straws.. Our waiter came back and apologized and said "the cooks must have forgotten". So, after an hour and a half of wait time, we got the burger comped and the shrimp half off. I will never return here again and I won't ever recommend it either. Like I said, hate to be a Debbie downer, but I had to at least give a warning to everyone. Good luck!

First visit to Joe's Crab Shack. Overall, it wasn't bad. We will visit again. Manager was a jack-of-all-trade - friendly and knows the menu very well. Things that can be fixed: 1. The receptionist didn't greet us, look us in the eye nor make us feel welcomed. Really felt like we were an inconvenience. 2. 3x a runner tried to deliver appetizers to our table, which we didn't order. 3. Our appetizer was presented to the wrong table. 4. Our dinner was presented to the wrong table. 5. My water ran dry. I ordered HOT food and my water ran dry. Never did the waitress (Alex) re-touch my table to offer another glass of water. Food is good. Service sucks.

Too bad. Cryin' shame. It's a great idea, but the execution is poor. And what's the problem throughout? Frozen food. It's all frozen, and it's all old. I've been to this restaurant three times now, just kinda hoping. One night I wanted a big pile of crab legs and didn't care if they weren't all that fresh, and it was all right, but there are too many problems overall to make this place worth another visit. Did you know that if you leave frozen king crab legs in the freezer too long, they lose all their lovely flavor? I've only experienced that twice, once for 50 bucks at Rick's Boatyard (avoid at all costs; the burger they replaced it with was awful as well), and once here. Interestingly, one of the legs tasted good, the others were tasteless. Musta got into a different batch. They have boudin sausage (yay!) which wound up tasting freezer-burned (how do I say "yay" backwards? If I write it backwards, it still says "yay," and I'm trying to take it back). Woulda been pretty good if it were fresh. Same with the andouille. The dirty rice is a ketchupy joke. And the calamari I tried the other night were very nearly rotten. I just turned 50 in October. There's not enough time left to waste any of it eating nearly rotten calamari. And that goes for the crawfish as well. I used to have a tolerance for the amount of rotten fish taste I'd put up with in a fish or shellfish meal, but screw it. I think crawfish season is starting in NOLA; maybe I can get Shuck's to order some up.

37 years and I have never sent a plate of food back. I did here!! I ended up having a burger. The original plate I ordered had over cooked rice and over seasoned shrimp. So food sucked and the service was terrible and I should have known given the wait staff was wearing jeans and tie-dyed t-shirts. I can go on and on about this experience but I should have known better. So once again corporate America you have failed and now I am going back to join my foodie friends. If you are considering to go Save your money and travel across to street to whole foods. Buy crab or whatever and make it at home this is not worth a penny. I gave it 1 start cause no stars is not an option.

We sure had a long wait to get in when there were so few people inside. But once in side it was nice and the $2. Tuesdays with the Hurricanes (very tasty) sure made whatever a heck of a lot better. The waiter was nice and did I mention the $2 Hurricanes... I could have just sat and drank those until I passed out they were THAT GOOD. I'm sure the food was good too - but who the heck cares...

Average Joe's. ($100 total for two) I didn't expect a gourmet seafood restaurant, I expected a regular Joe's Crab Shack and we weren't disappointed. It was pretty empty, on a Wednesday night around 830. We ordered the crab dip and garlicky mussels for starters. Both were eaten completely. The dip was a bit creamy an chips were brittle but the dish was great. The mussels were small/medium but also very good. The garlic bread was a bit tough and lacking in flavor, but dipped in the mussel sauce it got devoured as well. As drinks go, we ordered a southern sweet tea (Seagrams sweet tea vodka, lemon and fresh tea) and it was amazing. I wrote down the ingredients to make at home. Also a vodka tonic with lemonade custom order which was acceptable. For the main course we both had a bucket of king crab each, mine with garlic sauce, hers with kj sauce. Both buckets got eaten entirely and didn't disappoint. I've been to many Joe's in many states and this one was fairly standard. Not fresh caught crab in Seattle or still swimming sushi from Japan, but good for Joe's Crab Shack. We decided to forgo dessert. Our server was polite and nice. He checked on us regularly but not too often and we sat in there closed patio section near the fire, a pleasant relaxed atmosphere with good dinning lighting and warmth. Good date night. Good Joe's.

Went there for our weekly happy hour. They decided that they will no longer do any appetizers on happy hours specials. That's fine. All three restaurants around them do and that where we went. Bar was empty. No wonder.

Ate here twice. The first was fine. Good food, good service. The second time was really bad. The service was so bad that two groups who were already seated and waiting for their entrees (soups were served already) left their respective tables. It was my aunt's first time to eat her own personal lobster so I obliged and waited patiently for our food. It took one hour long for the appetizer to come out. I also had to stand up, call a server, just to be able to order. The food was tolerable but not as good as the first time I ate here. The rice pilaf's texture was that of mashed potatoes. Fortunately, the lobster was cooked properly.

Don't waste your time or money. Haven't had good luck at any Joe's Crab Shack locations. Expensive for what you get----overlooked, rubbery corn, rock hard red potatoes, and cold crab legs and shrimp. Not well flavored either.

  • Gabriel P.

The food was bland and badly overpriced and the servers were obnoxiously phony "fun" types. It's handy that they let you keep the crab shelling tool since we keep misplacing ours at home but we essentially paid $40 for a cheap plastic utensil and a meal that was no better than eating a microwave fish fillet. And I'm not a total snob about chain restaurants either, this was just terrible compared to your average chain. Stay far, far away.

A couple of the girlfriends and myself decided to check out this place since it opened recently. We went around noon on a weekday so the lunch crowd was definitely still around. Chose to snag a seat in the outdoor patio area since it is considered to be the "bar area." Food and drinks: Ordered a couple of fun drinks that were yummy and cool! Our party tried the pomegranate sangria, Gone Fishin', and this super fun Pop Rock margarita. We decided to share the sampler and the crab nachos. The crab on the nachos was exactly the same as the crab dip - kinda disappointing so don't order both. The food was mediocre...drinks were definitely better than the food. Overall it was okay. Definitely not anything special. Tip: Ask to look for seats at the bar since it includes the outside patio tables. This decreased our wait by about 20 min

Just had lunch with my son at the Omaha location. That was the worst sea food I ve ever eaten. My son had fish and chips; while I ordered the Orleans shrimp and creole. It came partially cooked with too much water in it. It was soaking and raw. The service is average . The potatoes that came were raw and being a corn state even that was bad. Totally poor quality of food . Do not risk it. The manager never came up to ask what was not right. Ravipati

I was born in raised in Seattle. I know a little about Crab legs. I've been to 3 different Joe's, this is the only one that was "meh." Crab was under-steamed/cooked. Everything else was ok. The beer was delicious. Environment seemed to be more than they could handle as service was slow. I will give them the benefit of the doubt this time, but as I've seen many other friends and yelpers unanimously agree this place is overrated.

This past month I have eaten at Joe's Crab Shack on 2 occasions. I thought I would try it again after about a year hiatus. Previously the year before the food had not been up to par so I just gave up and quit eating there. Well, what a nice surprise. I sat at the bar and bartender introduced herself as Kristina, and wow, did she take good care of me... I told her my history with the place and she took over from there. I was struggling over what to order so Kristina gave me an education about crab. I learned that Queen Crab is the sweetest of the crab meat and was she ever right. After my hot shrimp cocktail appetizer which were cooked perfectly, I ordered the Queen Crab Steam Pot cooked with Old Bay. And it was amazing. I have to say it was possibly the best crab I have ever tasted. Cooked to perfection. It was to die for. Kristina made my experience so pleasant I wanted to come back for a rerun, hoping to get the same result. So, I came back a week later, because, I couldn't quit thinking about this succulent crab meat. I was hoping there would be consistency in their food. I ordered the Queen Crab Steam Pot again and it was wonderful the 2nd time around, as well. Thank you Kristina for making my experience fabulous. The manager came by to make sure my dining experience was going well. I always appreciate a visit from the manager. They need to be in touch with their customers for sure. I will certainly be a regular at Joe's Crab Shack again. I highly recommend Joe's but call ahead and find out of Kristina is working. You won't find a better server. I can't speck for the other servers but Kristina makes sure your experience is one to remember.

Outstanding!!! Our waitress was awesome! Very friendly and had a great and fun personality! She got our kids up to dance several times and had a lot of fun with us. The food was all done in a timely manner, especially for a Friday night. A manager was by twice to check on things, once at the beginning of the meal and once at the end. The food was good, what you expect living in Nebraska. Overall-great place!

I love to eat crabs and joes crab is up to the standard. I have been here twice and both the times around 11pm with my girlfriend. The restaurant was empty with just a couple of customers. We were seated immediately. Ordered couple of drinks and it came in no time. Our waiter Mike was awesome and he does a fantastic job. He reassures that we are doing fine every 10 minutes. We ordered the queen crab buckets and they are amazing. We wanted to substitute the potato to something else and Mike helped us to have another corn instead of potato. The crabs were tasty and properly spiced and seasoned. In fact we had one more order of crab basket. The only negative is the quantity of crab that they give on the baskets. It is a bit less for two people so we had to order one more basket. Overall a nice crab place.

This was probably the biggest letdown in recent memory. (My review has nothing to do with the wait time because we got there right away and we didn't have to wait at all.) We got the sampler appetizer plate and the crab nachos and I was impressed with neither. Not very flavorful...how do you mess up breaded and fried food? I got the captain's platter and my husband got the fish and chip. Again, bland flavors for something you think would be so easy to get right. We got pizza for our daughter off the children's menu and it was burnt, awesome. The only reason they have two stars is my parents did get one of the crab steampots and said it was really good, but seriously, who wants to spend around $25/person for lunch? Anyways, we will likely not be returning...

Ann Arbor has a great Joe's - or at least they did a number of years ago. Joe's here is new, so they are riding the wave of novelty. As time goes on, however, they better step up the service and food. Things have changed, the decor is bland. There are tables and picnic tables. The service here was awful, we waited a long time, even though tables were available. The server we had wasn't making many attempts to check on us and we were there early, before 5:00 p.m. He didn't seem to care if we were there or not. It seems that mostly inexperienced staff work there. We were there over an hour and a half, which is ridiculous to get a plate and one appetizer. Crab cakes seemed to be half bread crumbs. ***if you want really good crab cakes, go to The Railcar, a cute restaurant on 144th & Blondo in the strip mall*** The food is just average. I'd just as soon go to Red Lobster.

Seafood in the middle of the country? Why yes.. you can have it all. It may not compare to fresh catch lobster/crab from the coast but it is darn good! The service was excellent Attentive, informative, and very cheerful. My sister and I wanted a good lunch that wouldn't get us too over the top to spoil our steak dinner. We had the mussel appetizer and shared a pot. (lobster, shrimp , crab and sausage.) cooked in garlic sauce. YUMMMMY! perfect lunch. Maybe it's our server and maybe it's because we knew what to expect, but this is an excellent restaurant that I would definitely return to next time I visit my sister in Omaha.

I've been to other Joe's so the experience wasn't new to me. The wait, however, was. As a friend said, any time a new restaurant opens in Omaha, expect it to be jammed for several months. Got there with a few friends at 7:40 on a Friday night and was told there was a 2 1/2 hour wait. Luckily, that wait *only* ended up being 1:40, but it was still crazy. The food didn't take too long to come out, and while ok, wasn't really fantastic. I had the Samuel Adams Steampot and will definitely try something else (cheaper) next time. We just had bottled beer, so I can't really rate the quality of their drinks, though I saw some pretty large ones that looked good. I imagine the crowd was the main reason people weren't seated very quickly at times as the staff was probably completely overwhelmed. There were several times I'd scan the restaurant and see 2 or 3 empty tables just waiting to be cleared off. Hopefully that improves with time/experience.

I was really hesitant to be 'treated' to Joe's Crab Shack on fathers day, knowing that it would be busy, and reading quite a few negative reviews on yelp... We were told that there would be a 40 minute wait shortly after noon on Sunday. The wait turned out to be between 25 to 30 minutes. I like the strategy of never under estimating the wait time for the customer. We did order Shrimp appetizer and stuffed mushrooms., which if I was only rating on these, I would go three stars, as they were ok... too much garlic in the stuffed mushrooms but other than that, very tasty. What bumped things up to four stars was the overall service and experience, in addition to the crab legs. Very good quality and plenty of it. I definitely enjoyed this visit more than I expected and was pleasantly surprised.

I'm not sure why so many people gave this Joe's Crab Shack such bad reviews, because I was a fan. I'm seconding what another yelper said: Will the food be better than fresh seafood on the coast? Of course not. Nothing can rival a morning catch. Is it good seafood that's better than you can do at home? More than likely. Yes, it's probably frozen, but we live in Nebraska: literally the farthest state from any large body of water. If you wanted amazing seafood, book a flight and go to Boston, Louisiana, or San Fran. But compared to the seafood I've tasted at other restaurants in Omaha, this is a win! To address all the complaints about having to wait so long for the food, it's because Joe's Crab Shack is busy! Despite the mediocre reviews on Yelp, there are A LOT of customers. To comment on the actual food: I had one of the steam pots the last time I was there. Granted, I'm a huge fan of seafood, so I'm not that picky, but I thought it was really good. (Better than anything you could've done at home, which I think is an important point.) It was spicy and juicy and I was more than happy at the end of my meal. The customer service is good, and the atmosphere is nice. It's busy and lively.

Very disappointing. After a 45 minute wait at 4pm on Saturday, we ordered. When the food was brought to our table, we had no silverware . . . so we waited longer until the wait staff noticed us and we could tell them we had no silver ware. My daughter's hushpuppies were burned and tasted like they had been sitting in oil for the 45 minutes we had waited. My son and I shared a Crab pot . . .the flavor was good, but it was cold. My husband and our guest had the fish and chips. It had no flavor and was cold as well. We were very disappointed. My daughter also ordered a chocolate shake . . . but no icecream???? Really??? It wasn't a shake at all. We didn't want to complain when we had a guest. It just didn't seem polite . .. . but come on. If you want customers that will speak well of your establishment and compliment your service . . . . . then give us good service. After waiting so long, we sure had hopes of a good experience. We were sadly mistaken. Other "Joe's Crab Shacks" have proven good for us . . . but not this new one in Omaha. My recommendation . . . . go ANYWHERE else!!!!

Been there twice now and both times our waitress acted slightly annoyed by questions about the menu. And tonight I tried to use a coupon that I actually prepaid $10.00 for 3 months ago but by my own error we didn't order precisely what was stated on the coupon and got a "too bad, so sad" attitude from the waitress about it. No offer to make any accommodation for it, even though one of the entree's we ordered cost less than what the coupon would have given, didn't even offer to take off the $10.00 I PAID for it in the first place??? Nope. Then the crab I ordered with garlic and herb flavoring which was completely undetectable. We had to ask for melted butter after our food arrived and waited longer to get it. Doesn't melted butter just COME with crab legs? Both times we visited the food was lukewarm at best, the potatoes and corn on the cob were unseasoned, and the crab was in no way superior to any other place we could get them. Bottom line, I paid $80.00 for mediocre food and less than pleasant service and I'm also out the $10.00 for the coupon I paid for and wanted to use and will expire in a week. We'll stick with Red Lobster from now on where the prices are the same, the service is much better, and we always leave FULL.

Another disappointing restaurant in this Westroads' location. The atmosphere is loud and bright. The wait staff was inexperienced even a month after opening. Part of the problem may be because it was staffed with very young employees. Not sure anyone on duty was over the age of 22. If you are there close to 10 pm, they make it very obvious that they are cleaning up and closing down, banging chairs and sweeping while diners are eating...would think that is against health codes. But bottom line is the food....not all that special. Lackluster flavors. If I was blindfolded, I would never know I was eating shrimp....tasted like mush. Crab cakes which they are famous arrived in pieces. Not much flavor although I must admit not full of bread crumbs like some restaurants. Salad dressing was bland. But I must say the draft beer was the coldest I have had in a restaurant. I would like to have a better review for them but for the prices they charge, I expected better. None at our table have a desire to go back.

The wife and I have been here twice now, and we won't go back. Last night we were both in the mood for some fish and chips, and we were near the mall, so figured we'd give Joe a second chance (after our awful first experience last year, when my dinner wasn't brought out until after she'd finished eating). The place wasn't very busy, so we were seated right away. The server was friendly and helpful, but an alarm bell went off when the menu described the fish and chips generically ("flaky white fish"). I asked what kind of fish it was, and when she told us it was pollock, we nearly left. Pollock? The cheapest whitefish there is? Everyone knows fish and chips means haddock or cod, unless there's a damn good reason for it not to be. Anyway, we stuck with it and also ordered the appetizer sampler. It seemed to take a long time to arrive, but we weren't worried about it, as we were in no hurry. However, our meals then arrived literally about 30 seconds later. We hadn't even dug into the appetizer yet. The waitress apologized and said she'd "tell Eddie." We ate the appetizer while our meals got cold. It was okay. The crab dip was tasty, if unremarkable, and the calamari was whithered and chewy -- obviously frozen. The fireballs (or whatever they're called) were better, basically jalapeño poppers with crab bits mixed in. The fish and chips were horrible. Dry, chewy flesh wrapped in massive grease batter bombs. It was flavorless and left us both feeling sick. Obviously frozen, unseasoned, cheap fish trying to hide behind greasy batter. Eddie, who I assume was the manager, stopped over to flash us a big smile, barely apologized for the timing of the meal, and tossed us a couple five-dollar coupons, good for our next meal, which expire in a month. Thanks, but we left them on the table. Why on earth would we come back for more of this? There is simply no reason to put up with this garbage, not when Shucks is a five-minute drive from Joe's. Shucks, where the seafood is fresh and flown in daily, the dishes are flavorful and cooked to perfection, and the prices are great. We've been fooled twice, but won't get fooled again.

I've been to many Joes Crab Shack in various states (some known for seafood) and this location was just as good, if not better than any. Joes has become expensive over the years, or maybe just in Omaha since the seafood has to be flown in. The food was delicious and the service from the bubbly waitress April was exemplary. Two crab buckets and $100+ tab later, I am a fan and will certainly return!

Oh dear. We started off well, easily in three star territory. Seated immediately, nice warm fire going on the closed patio, friendly server engaging in some friendly banter... Then we ordered some crab dip. They weren't exactly busy, but the following is a list of things I could have accomplished while waiting for our crab dip, in order of increasing hyperbole: -Tied my shoes fifty times. -Got up, walked to P.F. Chang's next door, ordered some lettuce wraps, eaten them, paid and left. -Changed the oil in my car. -Changed the tires on my car (it was chilly, Winter is Coming). -Written the great American novel. -Gone to Medical school, became a world-class surgeon, amassed a small fortune, opened my own seafood restaurant in the midwest, sat a customer, taken his/her order for crab dip, cooked it, served it, and then regaled said customer with stories of the hilarious medical maladies I treated while amassing my aforementioned fortune as a surgeon. -Raised a child, sent them through undergraduate school, after which they went to Medical school, became a world-class surgeon, amassed a small fortune, opened their own seafood restaurant in the midwest, sat a customer, took his/her order for crab dip, cooked it, served it, and then regaled said customer with stories of the hilarious medical maladies they treated while amassing their aforementioned fortune as a surgeon. Seriously, we didn't get our crab dip appetizer until after our meal (which was not what we ordered) was half eaten and the extra food required to make our meal order complete was on the way. The food? It wasn't bad. Not great, but it didn't make me crap a Red Lobster out afterwards. Also, the pathetic little plastic things they give you instead of traditional shell-breaker devices were ineffective and actually broke before the crab legs (which were dead and cooked, mind you) gave in. We won't be back.

Beer served in Warm mug. Beer Warm. Ask why? Not enough mugs to keep them cold. $25 bucks for crab, mussels and scallops. Got 2 little scallops, 3 mushy crab legs, and lots of mussels. Asked why only 2 scallops? response was yeah I know I get the same when I order them. What a JOKE!

I've eaten at Joe's in various other cities, and I don't seem to remember anything special. Thought we would give it a shot here in the Big O, as I wanted some King Crab legs...and where else would one go for crab legs? Wow, did I call it wrong. The initial contact started off well. We utilized call ahead seating, and were told we would get a text when our seats were ready, but to be onsite at 7, for a 7:15 reservation. We called at 6:10. Much to our surprise, at 6:35 we received a text that said get here now. Fortunately we thought we would pop into Westroads for a minute. Had we been 25 minutes away, I'm not sure how this would have worked out. So in we go for seating with a toddler and baby in tow. All is well, greeter very nice and helpful getting the right setup for the kids. Waitress shows up perhaps 4 or 5 minutes in and inquires about drinks. We give our order and off she goes. When she returns about 5 minutes later we are ready to order. We ordered our platters, and appetizer, and one kids meal. The waitress asked if we wanted the appetizer AND kids meal before the main meal. I said absolutely, and this should have been my warning sign. Probably 15 - 20 minutes later here comes the platters and appetizer at the same time....and no kids meal. I asked the women that brought our food out if she saw anything wrong with this picture, to which she replied, "oh boy you got your appetizer and main course at the same time". I mentioned that we had a toddler that could flip out at any moment if we didn't see a kids meal soon. About 3 minutes later our waitress showed up to apologize for the mix up and stated that she put the kid and appetizer order in, then went to take care of a few tables, then put our main entree order in after that. Mysteriously they all showed up at the same time though. She asked if I wanted her to take the crab legs back, and having worked in food service in high school, I declined. Oh, about 5 minutes later the kids meal showed up fresh out of the fryer. Additionally, the sampler appetizer which contained calamari, didn't have any marinara sauce for dipping them. At this point the waitress could tell that I was less than pleased considering this was going to be a $150 dollar meal by the time we got out of there. A good 15 - 20 minutes later, the manager Justin showed up and expressed his sorrow and told me that I guarantee you will be please when you leave...I will take care of it. I this point I wasn't expecting much, perhaps the appetizer for free, maybe the two drinks...something typical. We plowed on through dinner, ordered the blackberry cobbler - yum - and the check came. Low and behold...full check, not a penny taken off. On out way out I made a point to walk by Justin and asked, "what exactly did you mean by you were going to guarantee we were happy". He paused and he a slight bewildered look, then said, "oh, oh, let me get your bill...did you pay yet, let me take care of that". I politely told him, "sorry, no need. You all dropped the ball on nearly every opportunity to make an impression, so we won't ever be back". Long story short, if I want King Crab Legs, I'll go to Fleming's and have a great steak with them and call it good.

Pitiful! My first experience was worthless, but I refused to leave a review based on that because they were packed to the brim - certainly not a fair assessment. So I decided to go later after the hype settled and they were not so busy. Monday afternoon should be a good time, right? Yeah... They were not busy at all, but they still managed to leave me sit unnoticed for 15 minutes. I don't need to try the food again, with service this bad it's no wonder I hear so many complaints through the peoplevine. Even walking up to the hostess was painful. Her eyes screamed "What are you doing here?", which was easy to decipher because her mouth did not even flinch. I wish I would have said something to the smartass effect of "No habla?" but, you know how hindsight goes. Since the place was dead and the hostess was such an evil bitch, I did not want to inconvenience her by showing me a table, so I did what any neglected customer would do: ripped the menu out of her hand and headed towards the bar. And there I sat and waited for at least ten minutes, not a bartender in sight. There were a few other people at the bar, one couple had stares on their face that were as empty as their drink glasses. I saw three of the waitstaff at the end of the bar, roughly four seats down from me, chatting up a storm. My numerous death glares, snide remarks, and random pounding on the table just caused them to talk louder. I was tempted to walk back to the bar and pour myself a beer, so I could gargle it in my mouth as loud as possible and let it dribble out all over the floor in a desperate effort to gain attention, but I decided since I reached that level of boredom with a pocket full of cash, I should probably just go somewhere else. So I did. I am not really angry about this experience, I should be thanking the useless employees for preventing me from wasting another dime in this shit shack. After all, when I left here and went to my usual seafood spot, I received excellent service and a great meal in less than 45 minutes - could you imagine that?! I don't need to name names, just know that such places exist and shamelessly forget about this hell hole.

Went here on my birthday...(btw don't let anyone tell them it's your BD b/c they will embarrass the hell out of you with a sash, crown and wand with loud singing). It was a Tuesday so we were able to be seated immediately. My husband and I ordered the steam pots. So much food in those pots we could of shared one. I had the lobster and crab, he got just crab. The lobster was a bit overcooked, but edible. Everything else in the pot, corn, potatoes were very good and filling. I liked the atmosphere, felt like some seaside fish place in Cayman or Aruba. Perhaps our enjoyment or luck made the food taste better, after reading the bad reviews, because we really liked it and want to return.

I will never go here again. The food was horrible. My butterfly'd shrimp still had the shell on the body. My 'crabcake' was a mis-mash of some type of seafood that came out in a crumbly lump. The atmosphere at this location is also pretty bad. They defintely went with the 'bare minimum' package from the franchise options. The only redeeming quality was that at least the server we had was nice. If you want good seafood in Omaha go to Shucks, far and away a better place, for considerably cheaper price.

So gross. I hadn't been to a Joe's Crab Shack in about 10 years and I didn't remember it being a bad experience. It started out with a waiter full of canned, corny Joe's jokes. Then I was served a glass of wine with the purchase sticker still on the bottom. This only meant the glass was never washed. Then we had the privilege of watching 3 customers be humiliated for their birthdays. They looked like they were enjoying it but seriously... Who in their right mind at 30+ years of age wants to wear a wig, a clown nose, and gallop around the table while being sung happy birthday?? No one, that's who. Unless maybe you're completely smashed out of your mind and guaranteed not to remember it the next morning. Next, we ordered crab stuffed mushrooms and they made them with button mushrooms?? Who does that unless you're have a garage BBQ?? Even then if question the hosts decision. We had the KJ bucket of crab, scallops and mussels. All over cooked. It was a horrible evening out and I wish I actually was wasted so I couldn't remember it the next morning. Unfortunately that wasn't the case.

What can I say? I love Joe's Crab Shack. I'm normally not a fan of big chain restaurants and try to avoid them, but Joe's is the exception. I'm so happy they have opened in Omaha and I don't have to drive to Des Moines or Kansas City to eat at Joe's. Since opening in Omaha, I have already been 4 times. I always get the Bean Town Bake, which is two whole small lobsters, shrimps, clams, sausage, corn and potatoes served in a huge pot. It's always steamed to perfection and absolutely delicious. The crab balls are the appetizer I get every time --- I think I'm addicted to them. The four times I have been, the service has always been outstanding. My only complaint is that their cocktails are weak... but that's a minor issue when I can eat delicious steam pots here in Omaha.

Showed up by six on Sunday night. The place wasn't busy, but you could tell they were either short staffed or not wanting to buss the dirty tables. Our waiter passed by multiple times saying he would be right over to take our drink orders. We got those about 15 minutes after we ordered them. When those got brought to the table, almost 30 minutes after we were seated we got to order. I was the only one who oxidant order crab and was the only one who enjoyed their food. The snow crab, which we were told was "in season" now tasted fishy and barely had meat within the shells. The queen crab had more meat in them however they were just ok. I ordered the Malibu shrimp which had no coconut flavoring, although the mango salsa saved the dish for flavoring. It took awhile for the bill to come to us and I don't think any dishes got cleared from our table while we were sitting there waiting for our bill. Can say we've been to the location in Omaha, but can get better seafood elsewhere.

Stopped in a few days ago with my fam bam for the 1st time, I was pretty excited to try their crawfish. So first we started out with drinks, I ordered the hurricane 5 which they state 'you can only order up to 2 of them since they're so strong, and my partner got the southern tea. So omg the hurricane 5 was wayyyyyyyy too much for me to handle lol, literally 1 sip and I was done. Now my partners southern tea OMG so yummy, now that will definitely catch up with you if you drink too many, but nonetheless we traded drinks lol. I've never enjoyed your traditional long island ice tea, but this drink was no where near long island ice tea. Just know I will be getting the recipe and sipping away. Next my partner wanted to get a app so we got a crab type dip, ewww too much butter and just ewww nasty. So to our entree I got the crawfish pot and she got the pot the consisted of different types of lobster and crab. The seasoning was on point with the crawfish, brought back memories of the bayou in Louisiana, but OMG, I've NEVER seen such small crawfish in my life, and they were full of boo boo, uggggggggg, lol...my partner seemed to have enjoyed her meal. I like seafood, but its a lil too messy like bbq, it's something that should be eaten at home or outside lol. Nonetheless we probably won't be back, but it was a nice experience. O yea we had a great waiter as well, you worked for that 20.00 boo, lol.

I will stick to Jazz Louisiana kitchen. The food at Joe's crab shack was not good. Even the hush puppies were gross. I took some leftovers home but will throw the hush puppies out. The waitress was pleasant. However. Not worth the long wait at all.

My family visited Joe's Crab Shack on a Monday evening. We had previously visited a Joe's in KC and had a great experience. Unfortunately, our experience at the restaurant in Omaha was not as good. My coconut shrimp was totally overlooked. The only reason I didn't send it back was that I hadn't eaten much that day and was really hungry. My husband ordered the Ragin Cajun pot specifically because he wanted the sausage that came in it. His was brought to the table without the sausage. We told one of the managers about it and he said he would get it for us. We waited for awhile and the waitress came back so we told her about it as well. She did bring the sausage to the table. In the meantime, I noticed another table that seemed to have the same problem. Later, the manager came to the table with another sausage. When we told him that the waitress already brought one, he gave us the other one anyway saying that it was to make up for the mistake. For the money we paid, we probably could have had a much better meal at Red Lobster.

The service was great, and we were able to get right in, but the food was a mess. It was almost unedible. We also understand that it is a seafood place, but we were with a lot of people that are not seafood eaters and their food didn't even look appealing. We won't be wasting $50 to eat here again.

Ravipati

I made it to Joe's Crab Shack the other night and I was extremely disappointed in the food and service. The food was below par and must say the friendliness of the management has made my mind up in never returning. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

  • Pedro G.

3pm on a Saturday, lots of empty tables but still a 20 minute wait. Maybe a few more workers would be helpful?

Over rated. The food quality is terrible. If this was the first time I had eaten seafood, I would never eat seafood again.
