So glad we finally tried Jim & Jennie's Greek Village. My boyfriend and I were very happy with our food. We ordered Spanakopita and Fried Calamari to start, both of which were delicious. I ordered the Gyro sandwich, which was the best one I have had anywhere. My boyfriend ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger with fries. He said the way that they cooked the bacon was perfect and that's what maid it so good. We will definitely be coming back to eat here. :)

The best place in Omaha to get a gyro. If you're really hungry, add a side of waffle fries and you will not be disappointed. The service is always very fast and calling in a to-go order is easy as can be. Keep in mind they are closed on Sundays and also in late summer for an annual vacation.

We visited on a Friday night, and the place was packed! This is what I like to see at local places, especially when the owners Jim and Jennie are back in the kitchen cooking our meals. We both ordered the gyro platter, and the meet was so delicious. Moist and flavorful. There was enough for me to take leftovers for my lunch tomorrow. They come with geek potatoes, which I thought were delicious but my date thought were too sour. The meals started out with soup or salad, and the salad is a standard iceberg lettuce with a little chunk of feta and and an olive. The housemaid dressing is the best option. I can't judge too many items on the menu, considering we both ordered the same thing. The service was standard and friendly. The bathrooms need some remodeling. We have some good local Greek restaurants in Omaha, considering the Greeks were run out of town in the early 20th century.

Really like this place! The gyros and the steak kabobs are really good. Also the onion rings are the best I have eaten. The place is clean and the staff is awesome.

Went here for the first time last night and I have to say it was very good. I had the chicken gyro platter and the custard dessert that I couldn't pronounce...something like Galafinakis. I had the order to go. Had to heat it back up once I got home but that was my fault. The gyro was really flavorful. The chicken was a little dry but was probably due to my lack of microwaving skills. The sauce was outstanding, best I have had. The portion was outrageous as I had enough chicken, onion and tomato to make two. Unfortunately I had only one pita, but that was a good problem. The Greek salad was also very good, only complaint would be that there was only one chunk of feta. The dessert was a nice big portion, so much so that u had to share. Very creamy custard and the layers of pastry were so thin and flaky. The sweet sauce that it was covered in was tasty. All in all, I have a new favorite Greek spot in Omaha.

The food and service were amazing! They were busy yet we were seated as soon as we walked in and the food was served quickly. The waitress were super nice and helpful with all our questions and made wonderful suggestions. We had order 4 different items off the menu which were all super amazing. We for sure will be going back again, it's a place family the whole family agreed with now on our favorites list.

Love this place! My children come from out of time to eat here! Good people. On the spot service. Good food (tonight we were too stuffed to eat the baklava, had to take it with us). Way more than just Gyros. You won't be disappointed.

I've been coming here for 15 years. Excellent food and service. Monday's gyro sandwich special is a great value.

I had a serious craving for Greek food last night and tried this place on a whim. I ordered the Athenian salad (tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers, feta and olives without lettuce) and the Feta Psiti to go, plus a side of tzatziki. They gave me the dressing on the side, which was a nice touch for to go. The salad was large and the vegetables were colorful and flavorful. It was very light but filling The baked feta was fantastic. Salty and tangy, and topped with tomatoes, herbs and garlic. The aroma of garlic was heavenly and it went well with pita wedges. I also loved the tzatziki, it went great with both dishes. I was really impressed and got all of this for $14. I can't wait to go back!

Found my new favorite greek restaurant! Place, food, and staff are awesome! Made my night!

I am not a fan. The food was bland as can be, and it was expensive for what it was. I ended up sending my food back and going with the gyro sandwich, which was pretty average. Nothing special about this place and at all and I won't be back.

I enjoyed the food here, although I've only had takeout so far. The chicken was very tender and well seasoned. I also like their eggplant special. I really can't say enough good things about the food. I hope to eat in soon and get the full experience. Other people have mentioned how good the onion rings are, and they are right!

Great burgers and onion rings. The Gyro is the same log of meat all the Gyro places use in this town. The waitresses are very friendly! They could do a better job of wiping the tables, salt and pepper shakers down. They felt very sticky...yuck! And what's up with the vintage ketchup bottles? Throw those nasty old things out and quit refilling them! That's pretty nasty to see those old discolored labels! Good for a quick fix of Gyro meat and pita bread! Or a burger!

I had a lamb platter. The potatoes were likely treated with vinegar and spices... and had a flavor I liked a lot. The vegetable blend was also tasty and very well seasoned. The lamb was not so good. It was not seasoned at all and quite tough. It was confusing since the other items were so flavorful. When at a Greek restaurant it is always fun to order Saganaki. Here it was excellent, with the cheese, lemon, liquor, and caramelized breading on the cheese all completing the dish. I love that stuff. The service here was very good.

Very disappointing! I love Greek food and was looking forward to ordering the Mousska I should've ordered something else. The only thing good were the onion rings. I was hoping for better food and definitely was let down. I Will not recommend or go there again.

Pleasantly surprised. Food was very good. Great Gyro, waffle fries and whatever sauce they give you for them. Soup was my favorite, could have eaten a bucket of it. If your in the neighborhood, stop by.

Coming to Omaha & finding out that it actually had a few so called Greek restaurants we gave J&J's a shot. Bottom line pretty AWFUL food & not very Greek at all. I qualify this by the fact that I actually lived in Greece & have had Greek food in Astoria, NYC, the 1st Greek fishing settlement in the US; Chicago, which has many authentic good Greek restaurants & many other places in the country. If you want to taste some fair Greek food around here, take a drive to Lincoln & give the Parthenon a shot! Not great but pretty darn close!!

It's tradition to eat at Jim and Jennie's with my friend Mercina. For the lifetime of our friendship this charming restaurant has been our go-to place to catch up. The food never disappoints and the service is wonderful. Five star every time!

This place may be 5% of the reason I came back from NYC. The perfect marinated chicken gyro and the best tzatziki anywhere! My man and I eat here three to four times a week. We are low-carbing it and Jim and Jennie are happy to accommodate with a delicious salad, fresh vinegary dressing and meats to die for. It's not exactly on the menu, but they are always happy to make it for us. I've never been able to crack the code of their chicken gyro meat, and I never want to--because I would never leave the house.

I've been coming here since i was a child. I remember going there in the 80's with my parents and grandparents when the location was half the size. I continue going there and Jim an Jennie are always there. I always get the gyro and I may be a little partial but i have only found one other in Omaha that is close. Give them a try you won't be dissapointed.

I haven't had a bad meal yet. Everything we have tried has been very good. I just have to remember that when you order a side of Greek potatoes that you get two full ones but they make great leftovers. The server is usually very attentive.

All I can say is wow. My friend Chad and I went here after he recommended it. We shared Onion Rings to start with and they were hot, crispy, delicous. Between the two of us we barely finished the basket by the end of our entire meal - the onion rings complimented our gyros well. The gyro was delicious, I got an extra meat gyro and I regretted it once I saw the plate it came on as it was so much food. I should have ordered it regular, but I know for next time. I finsihed it but it was a challenge. The pita that they used was toasted PERFECTLY. I waited until I had a gyro from a different place before I wrote my review and all I can say is that it paled in comparison to this place. The service was great. I felt comfortable when I was there and the decor is what you would expect from a Greek place. I live in Aksarben so I know there are a lot of Greek places nearby but the drive to Jim & Jennie's is worth it.

The athenian salad is really good so if you wanna know what to get get that. The calamari was seasoned well and had good crispness to it. However the soup of the day (lemon chicken with rice) was really heavy handed it was basically cream of chicken soup from a can with a lot of lemon-pepper added. No chunks of chicken of TLC was present in this dish. Aside from that soup the food can be a bit under seasoned in general but I still highly recommend it.

Soganaki was delicious. The pita here is the best and we like to buy a bag and take it with us. Gyros are very good. Everything here is great and great service too. My kids love this place also so its a great restaurant to throw into our mix of places.

First and foremost, the 4 stars isn't 5 because we had our food to go and Atmosphere is a very important factor when giving a 5 star rating. My wife, daughter and I were in the area doing some thrift shopping and decided that we needed to finally try out Jim & Jennie's for lunch. First sign that we were at a good place? They didn't open for another 15 minutes but let me come in and place my order. The woman that stopped us from pulling away (we thought they wouldn't let us in yet) was very kind and took my order while chatting about the impending bad weather...after all this is Nebraska. We ordered the Spanakopita and two orders of the Lamb Gyro Platter with Greek potatoes, typical order for us from a Greek place. Food took about 10 minutes to be prepared and smelled absolutely wonderful. We have had Greek at other places in Nebraska (Ali Baba's in Lincoln) and several places in NYC when we lived there. Jim & Jennie's ranks right up there with the best of them! The Lamb tasted great, the Tzatziki sauce tasted great and was the perfect amount for the Gyro, the veggies were fresh, the pita was warm and soft and the Greek potatoes had an excellent flavor and were cooked to perfection. The side salad that came with the order was also fresh and delicious. If there was one thing I would change (and its really not a big issue) we love Feta and had to add some when we got home. I'm sure had we been in the restaurant they would have been happy to bring some out, but the Gyro was lacking a little in this area, again not a big issue because it was so delicious. The waitress that helped us was so kind and friendly that I look forward to dining in next time to enjoy what I'm sure is a great atmosphere.

Since I currently work too far away to go to my favorite Greek restaurant in town (which for the sake of common courtesy I won't name in this review), this is a great place to grab a bite. I tried the Baklava (very reasonably priced) and a Gyro. I left feeling very satiated and happy... would probably eat here again, but I'm not necessairily in a rush to.

The food is always good. The gyro sauce seemed to be lacking a little flavor last time we were in, but it was still good. If you go try the waffle fries with dipping sauce. They are great.

The secret to this place is to eat like a Greek, not an American. IOW, stick with the mezes (we call them appetizers in the US). Greeks will make an entire meal out of several appetizers, which they share. I found the various "main courses" rather bland and even dry. But the mezes are pretty authentically Greek. My measure of Greek restaurants is often how well they handle the pan-fried squid (calimari). J&J's has (imo) the best in Omaha, not overly breaded or tough or greasy. Just right. The Feta Kafteri is great (stuffed red peppers), dolmades are good, and the loukaniko sausage w/ peppers was terrific, second only to the calimari. I haven't tried the new fried eggplant yet, but it's on my list. Basically, stick to the mezes and you'll have a great meal. An additional tip, for the Greek food specialist ... this is largely S. Greek/Peloponnesian fair, as opposed to S. Aegean/Island fair (at Greek Isles), or Athenian fare at Katie's. I have yet to find a restaurant in Omaha that serves N. Greek/Macedonian food (with the wonderful Macedonian sweet red peppers). (The service can be slow, it just depends.)

I went there for lunch with my kids (ages 2 and 5), and while I found it to be okay, I wasn't hugely impressed. It was busy, yet we were seated almost immediately, were able to place our order within a reasonable amount of time, and were served our appetizer (a pretty tasty spanakopita) surprisingly fast. From there, the service, and the food, took a serious nosedive. We finished the appetizer, and we waited. We drained our drinks. And we waited. We made goofy faces in the mirror--anything to hold the terrible silence at bay!--and we waited. We watched a larger party seated nearby that came in after us get served--nothing to be done!--and we waited. And waited. And we waited. We saw the waitress coming our way (more than once)--"We're saved!" And we waited. "Let's go. Yes, let's go." But--lo and behold!-- our food arrived. It wasn't really worth the long wait, part of which could be owing to the fact that I ordered the wrong thing (the gyro). It tasted like many other long-forgotten gyros I've had, the most memorable aspects being a.) the meat was a wee bit salty for my taste, b.) it was served with french fries (Eh?), and c.) it sat in my belly for hours afterward. I can chalk the sloth-like service up to an off day, and I enjoyed the spanakopita, so I will give them another chance in the future. Next time I'll order differently, and who knows? Perhaps Godot will show up.

yum! my hubby and I love it =) We enjoy that it's a mom and pop place, where the service is good, and the food is tasty! Love that the pita is home made and buttery and delish! I highly enjoyed the soups made from scratch daily! mmmmm. creamy goodness. We've been there twice already, and we just moved to omaha! Great job, jim and jennie! oh yeah, the owners are super friendly. w00! your dream has come to fruition!

This place was great. It is a litte off the beaten path in a strip mall. I was there with about 10 people on a Saturday night and the food was fantastic and the service was exceptional. Our food came out very fast. We ordered appetizers, main dishes, dessert and a few bottles of wine and I think the check average was about $25. The portions were huge - almost everyone had to take a doggie bag home.

The food food is pretty good but some had a bit too much garlic. The prices can't be beat. The waitress was very attentive. The downside is the facility. Bright fluorescent light are kind of a turn-off in any restaurant , but they are especially bad here as they show off the dirt. It's a mess. And the restrooms are as filthy as any I have seen in Omaha.

I am in Omaha on business, and I went to Jim and Jennie's on the recommendation of a colleague. This restaurant was busy on a Monday, which is a good sign in my book! I ordered the Monday special, the Gyro with Greek Potatoes. It was well-prepared and large portion for the price, $5.99. Recommended.
