My favorite thing at Don & Millie's is a Ham & Cheese frenchee. It's like the cheese frenchee that Jason describes, but with ham. Imagine my surprise when it wasn't on the menu the last time I went. When I got up to the counter, I asked, "Can I get a _ham_ and cheese frenchee?" In return, a blank stare. "Um... we have a _cheese_ frenchee." "That's close... one of those, but with _ham_." "... I don't think we have that." The one saving grace in eating a deep fried sandwich slathered with mayo is some moderately respectable protein. Now that it's not an option there anymore, I have a hard time justifying the fried experience.

This location is just down the street from where I work, so I end up picking up lunch here about once a week. The food is usually decent, not too soggy or cold even by the time I get back to my office about a mile away. I'm writing this review mostly out of annoyance over a minor issue to which they could have responded with some helpful service and kept a happy customer coming back. I have had a crazy week of literally back to back meetings and evening events, and pulled through for lunch a couple of days ago in between meetings. I ordered a sandwich and a cup of chili. Of course, I got to my destination and there was the sandwich but no chili. I didn't have time to call and instead decided to pull through on way home tonight and ask for it (along with a new order to take home to the fam for supper). The response was "well did you call and tell us it was missing? If not, then we can't do anything." Um, no, that was what I was doing then. Isn't there some kind of system when you realize you've had a chili sitting there for the afternoon? Can't you mark it as unclaimed? Idk. I've never worked in fast food so maybe it's not as systematic as I imagine it to be. It was just irritating to be treated like I'm trying to scam a free cup of chili. Seriously?? It was $3 so whatever, but I'm not likely to eat there as often. Mainly because the food is only "okay" and clearly they don't understand customer service.

I've been to this Don and Millies a few times and every time it is pretty good, as far as fast food goes. The food was fresh and hot and the margaritas were very tasty. The service was also very nice and cheerful.

Not terribly pricey, the potato soup was a little sad, but the burger was decent, a little small but it was actual meat if a bit salty, the fries and onion rings were great. Overall I'd much rather eat here than at any McDonald's.

Don & Millie's has the best fast food burgers in town hands down.Always fresh, juicy and on a good toasted bun with the cheese melted perfectly. It is consistently well made. Don & Millie's also has the best cheese sauce I have had. Not sure what they do to it-but it is addictive. As much as I love the burgers it is the thought of that cheese sauce on the fries that has me make a quick turn when driving by. The thing is that I hate their fries! I hate coated fries and these have always been some of the most coated fries in town. I eat them though and do so happily because that cheese sauce can make anything taste good. I have thought about going to Wendy's and buying some fries and speeding down to Don & Millie's to get a burger and cheese sauce, but I think that might taste too good and this ticker is not getting any younger and healthier. At this location I always use the drive through on the way home from work and it is fast and the kids working there are always happy and friendly and seem to enjoy working there.

A lot of people mention their burgers but I go there for their chicken and baked potatoes. They use good quality ingredients and their food is a bit more expensive than the average fast food joint, but since I'm supporting local business, I'm okay with that. They have an extensive menu and it's awesome to have a fast food place that sells alcohol, CHEAP. It's a great way to get some food and alcohol in your system before a night on the town.

There are some women at this particular restaurant that the business could definitely fire and no one would miss. Other than that... the margarita's are nice and strong as always. They have my favorites... Baked Potato Soup and the Turkey Wrap.

I'm from Texas, so as far as fast food burgers go Whataburger is truly king. Here on business, I got in late and needed something that was actually open and relatively quick. I'll be using a 1-5 scale. Location (5): Pretty good, but be wary about using GPS. It has you turn a little earlier than you need to, if you are coming from 680. It causes you to basically go in a big loop in a residential area to get on the parking lot side. Just keep going and you'll see the turn in for the parking lot. Honestly nothing to knock Don and Millie's about. The location is good right off the highway pretty much. Ordering Experience (5): The cashier was very helpful in recommending the Double Don. Honestly not sure what you would expect here. It's a fast food place. Atmosphere (5): It's a retro 50s/60s diner. The atmosphere and music portray it perfectly. They were playing Remember Then by The Earls. While it is supposed to be retro, it looked very clean and modern in a way. Very nice. Taste (5): Incredible. Better than Whataburger? I don't know. I'd honestly need to taste back to back which is impossible. It was probably 2nd on my list of true "fast food" burgers. Incredibly juicy, but not greasy! The flavor was absolutely wonderful. The fries were absolutely perfect and crispy. Not soggy at all. The lemonade was perfect as well. This may seem silly, but there is a fine balance between too much tart/flavor and too watery tasting. It was perfect. The onion ring was frankly not great at all, but it just doesn't put a dent in the 5 stars. Interesting points: They have $.99 margaritas and apparently they are pretty big. I'm told they are good, so maybe check it out? All in all, a great quick choice for a fast burger.

I stopped in for lunch, great parking and the restaurant is very clean. I love the diner but comfy feel- the staff is very happy to serve you and my food was fast. I ordered a single patty cheeseburger plain ( i am anti condiments) and a chili cheese baked potato. the burger was delicious. bun fresh and poufy patty great flavor and my favorite.. they listened and my cheeseburger was indeed PLAIN, just cheese. their cheeseburger reminded me of the burgers from my childhood. the chili cheese baked potato was very good and filling and I had a filling lunch for around $8. they have other combos. i'd head good things about Don & Millies before I came in.. and they help up. love them!

Onion rings were disappointing. Burger was decent, fries were decent. The best part of our meal was the fried fish - golden-fried tilapia with a great crust that tasted wonderful with some malt vinegar. Overall, for the price, I'd have to advise you to go to Freddy's instead. I do have a morbid interest in the cheese frenchee though (I mean, a fried sandwich?!).

I'm not a big fan of chains at all! However, D&M's is a great local no-nonsense casual place to stop and eat or take out. The burgers and specialties are quite reminiscent of the old Kings, now long gone. Plus they have beer! :)

Two words: Double. Don. Don & Millie's is Omaha/Nebraska's In-N-Out. The Double Don is a fantastic fast casual burger. Nice and juicy and doesn't leave you with a greasy gut bomb. The cheese frenchee is also a solid menu item. There's something special about a fried grilled cheese. Very reasonably priced and I am yet to talk about their drinks... 99 cent margaritas and 1.99 long necks. Absolutely cannot be beat. Don & Millie's is no bar or Omaha nightlife, but a great spot to grab a burger and drink before going elsewhere. Brat

I'm prefacing this review with the fact that I never eat fast food. Today was an exception, crazy busy to and from work and baby sitter, I pulled in for an en route meal. What a very pleasant surprise. I hit the drive through over the lunch hour, and ordered a cheeseburger, small fries and ice tea. Service was SO fast, I couldn't even get my cash out fast enough. While eating and driving is not good, this burger was above and beyond typical fast food fare. Juicy, thick and not too greasy, soft steamed bun mmmmmm so delicious! Fries were hot and crispy, good thing I only got a small....or I could have eaten more. Good Fast Food is not a phrase you hear often, this place proves it exists. I will not make it a habit, but if I need a bite in a hurry, I will be here!

  • Jenny B.

Food here is cold and greasy. However, they have 99 cent margaritas all the time that are tasty, quite strong, and well...99 cents!

This is some great fast food. I think it's basically what you would have gotten at the drive up places with girls on roller skates back in the day. They have burgers and fries, nachos and onion rings, etc. I almost always get the cheese frenchee, which is basically a mayo and cheese sandwich that has been breaded and fried, yum!. One thing I really like about this place is that the portion sizes are actually reasonable (who really needs a whole pound of french fries?). I suspect, however, that the reasonable portion sizes were required, because if you ate this food in current American portions you would have a coronary on the spot. This food is /greasy/, I can only eat here about once every two months or so because it takes that long for my arteries to recover. Finally, they have 99 cent margaritas and beers. In college I used to go to Don and Millie's for dinner, and a chance to get a little beer in me before going out to the bars, because I'm a cheap bastard. I really wanted to give this place 4 stars because the food is really, really, yummy and the 99c Margaritas are awesome; but I had to dock it one because of the sick feeling I have for the rest of the day from the sheer amount of grease consumed.

Great food, good prices, and kid friendly what more can I say. The burgers and Taco Salad are my favorite. We used to come here when our kids were young as it is family friendly, now that are kids are all grown it is still high on our list when we are looking for good food at a good price, with good quick service. Overall one of the better local chain restaurants, several recent trips have caused me to drop to a 3.5 star, Food is still very good for the price but the service & Cleanliness is not what it used to be.

Last night, I dropped by Don and Millie's for the first time in a year or so. The food is exactly as I remember it. The burgers are good and more substantial than most other fast food joints and they're tasty and very greasy. The fries are thin cut and while okay, I can take them or leave them. They do have some pretty good onion rings and they're nice and crispy. I had a cheese frenchee once a few years ago and don't remember much about it. I know some people love them but I go here for the burgers. The interior of the restaurant leaves something to be desired and it isn't always the cleanest but the food is good and cheap.
