Drinks and food are cheap! My husband and I were there for lunch on the weekend for the first time. We never had Mexican food other than Chipotle before. I hope you know what I mean. We never had authentic Mexican food before so we gave it a try. It turned out pretty good! Food was delicious, service was good, the restroom was clean (not sure about the men's restroom though) and location is good also. It's off of 114th and Dodge. The only thing I didn't think it was great was that the entire place inside restaurant so dark that I had to take a little time for my eyes to get used to as it was so bright out during the day outside. We'll go back there again sometime to try something new :)

Oh goodness, no. The service was horrible. I asked for plates for our appetizer, and the server ...who clearly heard me... just walked away and did not return with plates. The veggie dip was awful. More like veggie soup, than veggie dip. Very runny. Did not stay on the chips. The black beans were inedible. Something very funky about the flavor that can't be described. Our drinks were not refilled until we were about ready to leave, even though our glasses were empty far earlier. The banging around in the kichen was so loud it made me jump...it happened often and made me give up and ask for a box so I could take my food home and eat in peace. I did NOT bother taking home the black beans. They were just too nasty. This was my second time at Cilantros. I will not be back.

Great food, tall drinks and friendly staff. We make it out to Cilantro's at least once a month.

This place is great! Service was friendly & fast. Food was delicious. I had for the first time a fish taco, which was very flavorful with black beans and rice. There margaritas are huge & $5 at happy hour. The Decor is nice a little dark but not a problem. It was my first time going to Clinatros. I for sure will be returning. Any place with happy friendly service & good food to go along with it,is a win win for me.

Great food, great staff, bartender was super helpful on tequila. First time I had the fajita combination plate and I think I'll order it from now on. Thanks to the waitress for recommending it

We didn't like the sauce on our food and told the manger and he continued to argue with us and he said nobody hasn't liked our sauce here and we said well we don't and then he accused us of not being hungry and that's why we are saying that... Wth!!!! Why would we come to a restaurant if we we're not hungry. Horrible, rude service and management!!!!

BOOOOM WOW!!!! Walked in knowing that I wanted Mexican. Didn't know that I was going to eat the best Mexican food in this part of town!!!! My mind was blown..... Complimentary chips and awesome salsa! So many different options on the menu, it took me awhile to decide what I wanted. I'm an easy going person always wanting to try tacos at different places but the pork chimichanga caught my eye and I'm really glad that's what I went with! This platter comes with traditional beans and rice. I usually don't eat them but after trying the beans they tasted homemade and I ate alllll of it. The pork chimichanga had a fabulous taste. Everything tasted homemade. It was the best Mexican food I've tried in a while. I will not shy away from this wonderful place. The staff were very attentive and always asking if things were ok! The manager stopped over to make sure we were pleased Now that's customer service!!!! Thank you for making me the happiest person in the world!

First time going to this place and was really impressed. We had a big group so we waited a little longer than normal to be seated (but was still reasonable wait time). The place was actually bigger than it looks. They had a great selection of entrees and appetizers. Prices were reasonable and the portions are pretty good. The food was flavorful and tasty. The wait staff also do a good job taking care of its customers. We'll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend this place.

  • Gabriel W.

I need to rant and rave about this one! So worth the wait on a Friday night! Micheladas, margaritas, and some of the best Mexican food I've had in a long time! We took my soon to be mother-in-law and she loved it! She said she has only had comparable in a small place in Texas. We will definitely go back for more!

  • Krisha G.

We used to eat there all the time but lately the service and the food is just not as good as it once was. I do love their queso tho!

Really good, real quick. I am impressed with the quality and quantity of the food here. Came in at lunch when it looked kind of slow. We had the lunch serving of veggie fajitas and the veggie enchilada. The fajitas were huge! Had to take some home. A great price for beer, too! $5.49 got me a quart of dos equis. My veggies were a little over spiced, but still really good flavor and variety. The masa served on the side made them prefect. A little sweet, but sill flavorful. Great beans and tasty rice. All said, great food and great service! I can't wait to come back

The food at cilantros was great- my boyfriend and I had just driven here from Kansas City and were looking for a filling meal at 9:00 pm. The food at cilantros definitely hit the spot. I got the vegetarian fajitas and they were awesome. Great salsa also. So why only two stars? Our waitress was probably the rudest I have ever had. She was a slightly older lady with gray hair (didn't get her name) and was constantly barking at us like an irritated parent. For instance, "slow down, you're ordering way too fast." Or "well I have to do (insert a small list of normal waitress tasks) so I can get you more water in a few minutes". When she brought our plates out, she yelled at me (literally) to put my hands in my lap so she could set the plate down. Everything this woman said would have been okay (not polite, okay) if she had used a polite or friendly tone with us. She did not. It was ridiculous to be ordered around and barked at by wait staff. If cilantros can get their staff to be more polite, we'll definitely be back.

Food came incredibly fast. Granted it was a Saturday at lunch time. But the waitress was friendly and attentive, order was correct, food was delicious, and the chips with salsa were hot! I love that:)

So very disappointing. Tried this place because of the reviews. The salas that was brought to my table tasted like it was some cheap jar brand. The rice and beans did not taste good to me either. The only thing I liked was my tacos and my margarita.

  • Karina C.

Have been here twice. Portions are big, margaritas are good! Friendly staff and good value for your meal. Would definitely return. I like their live people playing music

The salsa was delicious. For dinner we split the veggie burrito and the cheese, artichoke, and spinach dip and it was delicious. The salsa is awesome too. Special shout out to Anthony, our server, who was enthusiastic and efficient and one of the best servers I've had from any restaurant.

I stopped in well after lunch rush while out shopping, the first place I wanted was closed Mondays ! I ordered my standard combo plate I always get to determine if I love this place enough to return, enchiladas and crispy beef taco, their iced tea was fresh brewed so I ordered that, shopping makes you thirsty, I was not sure about this place, good or bad I was there. The server was so nice and got me my chips and salsa happily cilantro was in the salsa and I enjoyed my chips until the very hot plate came, taco was really good with the salsa, I tested the rice and beans good, and took a bite of the beef enchiladas, I was surprised how deliciously tasty the Sauce was, I had a really tasty flan for dessert, I understand why this place has been packed the times I've driven past!

    (4)
  • Kate L.

Pleasantly surprised- fresh, flavorful, and as good as anything we can get in LA. Don't let the strip mall location deter you from trying this place. I loved the tomatillo cream enchiladas. Tacos al pastor also were excellent.

Ignoring the one star review, we walked in to a beautifully decorated place with a unique and fun bar that I would love to sit at during game day. I ordered a midori margarita and it is well worth the price. Loaded with good tasting alcohols and excellent flavoring, I'll be handing the keys to my boyfriend. The salsa has the right amount of spice and the queso is simple yet delicious. It has bits of jalapeño in it, a welcoming site. I ordered the chicken chimichanga and was greeted by an authentic sight- one I've not found since leaving southern Texas. The flavoring was on the spot and the chicken was moist and tasty. Even the beans, which I don't normally eat, were lovely. My boyfriend ordered the Texas chimi and was that packed with flavor and spice! I almost wanted to trade- so if you're deciding between regular and the Texas- get the Texas. Regular is fine and I love it, but between the two, get the Texas. A glorious place and needs to stay in business for a life time. Our New Mexican hot spot!!! Might even apply for a job :)

I've been to Cilantro's twice in the last few months. I had a tamale and enchilada combo plate last that was delicious. The tamales rival those I've had homemade. They also had a drink special for their top shelf margaritas. Delicious! I've been a fan of Hector's in the past, but this is my new favorite Mexican restaurant.

OK! You guys leaked it out! We have been back several times now and every time it seems if just gets better! I have a few recommendations for you... The Minichimis, The Queso Dip, Steak Fajitas, ANY of the Combinations. Chicken Quesadilla, not to mention the endless chips and homemade salsa! There's SO MUCH more I want to try! Hay tantas cosas más que quiero probar! And of course the Don Julio es muy buena!

  • Suzy W.

I have eaten at both locations, and I have always had a good meal. The Barbacoa tacos have great flavor and the fajitas are excellent, much more meat than other restaurants. They seemed a little short of help, but there were a lot of big parties.

So good! Great service. Excellent margaritas. Yummy food. Try the chile rellenos. Will be back!

First time at Cilantro's. Read all the glowing reviews, and we were anticipating a great meal, and we were starving. Restaurant more like a roadhouse, very large and noisy. Waiter very attentive. Large and varied menu. i ordered the three enchiladas, my brother ordered the combination plate 2. Plates arrived quickly, large proportions, and very hot. I tasted everything, and was struck at how salty the food was, barely edible. i could only finish about a third.,bite after bite it grew worse. My brother's plate was just as bad. The tamale was prepared days in advance, and microwaved. The tortilla on the cheese enchilada had been heated to such a point that portions were crisp. Re-fried beans had no flavor, and salty salty salty. But the Pepsi and iced tea were good, and that's about all. both of us refused the offer of a doggie bag. After moving here 7 years ago from California, and bad meal after bad meal in Lincoln and Omaha, we have realized you can't trust rave reviews on Yelp as people here do not know good food, and thus can't tell bad food versus good to great food. The folks here seem to be stuck on large portions and mediocre quality and not knowing the difference between bad and good food.

Chips: Very good Salsa: Very Good Enchilada dishes: Not so good Black Beans: Not so good Rice: Good Margarita: Below average Service: 5 stars which gives you an idea how bad the enchiladas were. Keep it simple here if you go. The more creative dishes don't cut it.

Just moved to this area and visited based on other reviews I've found. The free chips were nothing special, but the meals were good, and portions will lead to at least some leftovers. The staff speaks English well. The place seems like a bar retrofitted a bit to work partly as a restaurant, so ambiance isn't the best, but overall I left full and happy!

Cleanliness 4 Service 4 Food 5 Likelihood 5 1-5 (5 Best!) 4.5 Our first visit to this new location. We were warming greeted as soon as we walked in. 6 of us. We were given a booth that could have sat 6, and they still added an additional table to INSURE we had enough room and were comfortable. Food was hot, fresh and VERY tasty! Alcoholic beverages were flavorful and made "well!" The hospitality was insanely different that most typical restaurants who focus on our credit card vs. food, cleanliness and service. Service was attentive and the manager was on the floor checking in. LOVE THAT. Restrooms VERY clean and stocked, thank you. We will be back, for sure!

This place trumps La Mesa and definitely Maria's by far. Their food is hot and full of flavor. I've tried many different items on the menu and haven't been disappointed yet. Their chips and salsa are delicious and will satisfy that part of your Mexican craving. I've eaten a lot of Mexican food in Omaha and I highly recommend this place to my friends. The service can be slow at times but I can overlook that when the food tastes good and delivered with a smile on their face. Happy eating!

Had a chance to eat there last night. My date and I were the last to arrive. I have eaten here about 6 other times. I have never taken the time to post. This is in my opinion simply the best Mexican restaurant in Omaha. The service is fast and friendly. The food is always hot and fresh seasoned just right. I lived in Texas for 15 years and ate so much tex.Mexican..this is simply great food at a reasonable price. I ordered the burrito loco...awesome! My date had a combination platter. Beef enchiladas taco and beans and rice. She loved it too. Thanks for the great food and service. A nice surprise was the large bowl of queso cheese we got when we ordered it for the chips. It was great!

Perhaps they had an off night but I thought this was some of the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten. We sat outside and the windows looking into the restaurant looked as if they had not been washed in the last decade. My point being that if this is how they clean something that the customers can see...what does the kitchen look like. I had fajitas that were dry and tasteless. Black beans were dried out and the rice was dried out and flavorless. With so many options for Mexican, why bother with this place.

I love Mexican food. If given the choice I will choose Mexican over any other cuisine and think that eating Mexican food 3 times a week is perfectly acceptable. My boyfriend does not share my feelings toward the cheesy cuisine of the Gods but he is a good sport at eating Mexican with me. Since we'd been to the same Mexican joint 3 weeks in a row he suggested we mix it up and give Cilantro's a try and I'm glad he did. We kept it simple since we needed a quick dinner and we both had enchiladas and tacos and I had rice. The soft tacos are just your standard taco but yummy. I had the crunchy taco which featured what seemed to be a house made shell. It was loaded with grease but every bite tasted divine. The rice was also the standard rice you get at most Mexican joints but with a few splashes of hot sauce I love it. The complimentary chips and salsa were really, really good. As the name suggests, the salsa did have a lot of cilantro in it. You've been forewarned is you're one of those weirdos who think such a delicious herb tastes like dish detergent. I'm only kidding. :) We were seated right away and the service was fantastic throughout the whole meal. The place also looked really clean as well, which I appreciate. Overall, we enjoyed our meal here quite a bit and will be back to try many more things from their menu. I think a chili relleno is calling my name next time.

My family and I visited this hidden gem at 114th and dodge a few weeks ago. The service was impeccable, so attentive and extremely friendly. Our drinks never ran dry and the food came out in a timely manner. Their house margarita had the perfect blend of alcohol to margarita mix and the large frosty mugs they were served in were kitschy-fun. Now to the food: - The complimentary chips and salsa was a nice welcome to the meal. We all loved the salsa with its brightness and balance of sweet and saltiness. - The combo cheese dip veggie appetizer was very good. It had large chunks of artichoke hearts and lots of spinach all tossed in a warm cheese sauce. It was topped with diced tomatoes and cilantro to add a little freshness and cut the richness. It was the perfect start to the meal. - The healthy salad was good but nothing outstanding. It could have used a few other vegetables besides just tomatoes to bring it to restaurant quality. It felt like something I could have made at home. I will say the portion of chicken was good even though it was overcooked. - Unfortunately the most disappointing dish we had was the crispy taco platter. Everything about it was bland, from the filling to the fried shells. Salsa, sour cream and guacamole were needed to impart some sort of flavor to the dish. We also felt they were a little small. - The veggie fajitas were very good. The mixture included onions, peppers, broccoli, squash, etc topped with a little melted cheese. They came out sizzling hot, as fajitas should, with the perfect smoky-grilled seasoning one would expect. The portion was HUGE so most of it came home with us. - The trio enchiladas were fantastic. It was a great way to sample a variety of different sauces and meat combinations. The favorite was the pork enchilada with the red mole sauce but the chicken and chipotle enchilada came in a close second. The one missing element was a little heat. They could have used a little more spice. - The delicious platter was a tasty combination of a variety of Mexican staples. We loved the asada taco - simple and clean with great smoky flavor. The pork tamale was delicious with the red mole sauce which added a depth of flavor to the dish. - The enchiladas gringas should be ordered if you are a lover of anything smothered in a warm cheese sauce. The two enchiladas were filled with large chunks of chicken and then smothered with in an alfredo cheese sauce. This is the definition of comfort food on a plate. We really enjoyed our experience at Cilantro's. The dishes were not over the top in flavor and were not the least bit spicy, which we did miss, but for a tex-mex restaurant in Omaha this is one to try.

They hardly speak English here. That's a plus right there. Probably the best Mexican I've had outside of Mexico.....and it's right down the street from my house! The place was busy the night we went, so there was a wait, but the hostess was very friendly and accommodating! Our waitress had almost too many tables to handle but she did it with ease. The food was good with unique choices. The location is good being that it is the old Stokes. The salsa is great! We asked to buy a pint to take home from the table and it was no problem. They even threw in 2 more small bags of chips--all that, including the pint of fresh salsa for $3.99! What a deal! I will definitely go back. I hope they will consider adding some grilled shrimp nachos to their menu!

The staff speaks English well. The place seems like a bar retrofitted a bit to work partly as a restaurant, so ambiance isn't the best, but overall I left full and happy!

I have eaten here a few times and always enjoyed it. Tonight I discovered that there is such a thing as a pork quesadilla....who knew? It was outstanding! Good food at great prices...will definitely be back.

The salsa was delicious. For dinner we split the veggie burrito and the cheese, artichoke, and spinach dip and it was delicious. The salsa is awesome too. Special shout out to Anthony, our server, who was enthusiastic and efficient and one of the best servers I've had from any restaurant.

Have been here twice. Portions are big, margaritas are good! Friendly staff and good value for your meal. Would definitely return. I like their live people playing music

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
