Fantastic! The au jus accompanying my steak was among the best I've ever had. The mix of bleu cheese crumbles and creamy dressing was great on the salad. Service was beyond superb with super attentive and friendly staff that were also unobtrusive. We had a group of thirteen and the entire meal ran smoothly. This was a great place to pick for a celebration.

One word amazing, the steak was perfect. If I ever come to Omaha again I will defiantly stop there. The steak just melts in your mouth, they defiantly know how to cut the meat perfect and cook it to perfection. Amazing

How do you compress 'Classic old school Omaha Italian steak house' into one word.... Cascio's. If you're looking for some excellent prime rib, i highly recommend this restaurant. Friendly, prompt service, and with all the extras (bread sticks, salad, pasta, potato), you won't walk away hungry. While there's nothing super special about the side dishes, they were all good. The only reason I rated four stars instead of five, is that I'm not a fan of the big screen tv at one end of the dining area. For me it's a distraction.

The reason I like Cascio's is because I know what I am going to get every time I walk in the door. I had lunch there this week...I typically eat there about once a week. I love the place because it never changes, and probably hasn't since 1974. If I order a Hamburger Steak - medium well, baked potato, spaghetti and salad with half/half...it will be the exact same every time. I love that. The food is good, not great...the service is always pretty good. Waitresses have a little bit of that old time, don't f*#k with me attitude. The atmosphere here is great. Family joint and they greet us every time we walk in the door.

Stopped by here on a local's recommendation and had a pretty disappointing experience. Service was slow and with all the busboy's running around none of them helped our waitress by offering refills. The decor is lovely and the fact that it's family owned for 3 generations adds to it's Italian-American charm...BUT unfortunately, the food just wasn't up to snuff!!!! The dinner salad was Iceberg lettuce...HUGE turnoff, no other veggies. Just lettuce drenched in dressing with one lonely, black olive. The breadsticks that came with the meal were not home-made. You could taste the generic label and probably bought from Costco. The steak was awful. I really had high expectations for Omaha, home of ConAgra, America's largest producer of beef. Wasn't seasoned at all, a very bland piece of meat that was way too greasy. Came with a side of green beans that were without a doubt, canned.... The soup was a family recipe, but just O.K. in my book. My advice to the family is to get back to your Italian roots and incorporate more home-cooked items like the soup, SEASON the steaks, add some color to the SALADS, always use FRESH vegetables for the side dishes, and try to use a better bread product.. preferably something cooked from scratch. The pasta that came with the meal tasted pretty bad too. Generic brand sauce and over-cooked noodles. I realize this is a no-frills restaurant, but Sizzler is a much better choice for these prices.

The place was huge and packed. People kept bumping into my chair. I was anxious to try out some famous Omaha steaks. The steaks we ordered were terrible. Not to mention that we ordered the most expensive steaks on the menu too.

Food was Ok but overall disappointing. They were out of cheese tortellini, which they didn't tell us until other meals were ready. Alfredo Sauce would have substituted for bisquits and gravy Surprisingly, offered us the check before offering coffee and dessert. Mediocre at best.

The good stuff: The steaks - I had the fillet, and my wife had the Prime Rib - both were good, were cooked properly, and tasted good. My fillet melted in my mouth. The salads - as stated previously, they may have been cutting edge 30 years ago, but they get the job done. Yes, you get a single pepperocini and a single black olive on top. The bread sticks - Geeze, were they good. The wine prices were very reasonable. $20.95 for a bottle of Robert Mondavi Private Reserve Cabernet? Even for a 2010, this isn't much of a markup at all. The stuff that some people won't like: This is your fathers and your grandfather's restaurant. If you are looking for "stylin" - this isn't for you. If you are looking for a decent steak, then game on.

This place is old school, and good. Order a steak, and you get a fantastic soup, a decent iceburg salad (are house salads ever anything else?), breadsticks, mostaccolli, potato, a steak, and coffee. The pasta and potato are forgettable, but the NY strip was fatty, medium, and pretty much perfect. Overall its a good meal, and the soup and steak are enough to convince me to go back whenever I'm in Omaha. Oh- the service is great too. Our waitress was friendly, efficient, and seemed like she really wanted us to enjoy our meals. But one caveat: the drinks could use some work?

Generally there is a reason a restaurant remains open for this long...they have what people want. I began coming to Cascio's when I was 2-3 years old (we lived in the neighborhood at the time) and continued through to today. They have a variety of items on the menu, the best bread sticks in town and if for no other reason, you will never leave hungry. I tend to order the same thing every time, the club steak and it is always good. I have had several memorable meals here, my wedding reception was there 31 years ago, numerous birthdays and anniversary gatherings, and always a great time. Omaha needs to embrace their restaurant heritage and support family owned classics like Cascio's before they are gone just like the original Caniglia's, Trentino's/Angie's Mr C's and so many more. One true measure of a places staying power is when a group of people get together and suggest a place to eat, and with Cascio's we have never turned it down.

Another one of those Omaha restuarants that only someone OVER 55 would like. Awful, appetizers (white bread toasted and drenched in oil, is not "garlic bread" , salad (iceberg lettuce with 1 lonely black olive, does not a salad make) & sides (carbs + carbs+more carbs is not a great selection). The steak does pass for decent, but we will NOT be going back to give it another chance. I do have to give props to our waitress, who was great!!

Another Omaha institution I'd never tried before. I was kind of amazed at how enormous it is inside. It's doesn't look that big from the street. We were there for weekday lunch and it was pretty quiet. I had the luncheon steak, medium rare. It was nicely cooked, but not the most tender cut of meat I've ever had. Good, but not great. Mashed potatoes were also standard fare, and I was not impressed with the sauce on the mostacelli at all. The salad was 99% iceberg lettuce, but the ranch dressing was good. Our server, Betty, mixed up one of the orders, but the mistake was corrected very quickly despite having to cook a whole other dish, so props for that.

This is essentially an old school steak house, with mob-esque memorabilia, and an old country club type of ambiance. It's a no-nonsense kind of place, with decent food, and reasonable prices. This is a steak house with a few vegetarian options and their mostaccioli is good as are their salads. I don't mind eating here if someone else suggests it.

This place is old-school. Not great, but decent enough to earn a return trip. The apps are pretty good, but their house salad (as others have said) need work. The steak is the saving grace and is cooked perfectly to order. I recommend coming here for dinner at a later time slot because there are alot of old regulars that flock here in the early evening/late afternoon.

Food was decent, but nothing special. I had a chicken plate, and my wife had a steak. Usually we make these sort of things at home and we continue to do this over coming back to this place. Sorry, no other details. My wife and I just did not like this place. Looked like it was more geared toward the older generations.

I own a small business downtown and am in cascio's at least once a week sausage sandwiches are great and the steaks are done right! They have just started serving pizza and I can honestly say best pizza in Omaha if you have not tried it you are missing out it is well worth the extra 10 minutes to get home.

I work close to Cascio's and go to lunch there about once a month. I love the food! The decor is horrible but that doesn't bother me. I like that I get so much food with lunch (bread, salad, pasta, entree, side). The bread is ok and the salad, although pathetic in that it is just iceburg lettuce in a bowl with a pepperocini and single olive on top, is amazing because of their ranch dressing. I really need to find out where they get their ranch. Yum! I order my pasta without the sauce and sprinkle grated parmesan cheese on it. It's good but how could you mess up plain pasta? I order the chicken fingers each time I go in and they are very good partially because of the ranch dressing that I dip them in (on no, I think I'm obsessed with this dressing). The steak fries that I get as a side are pretty good. At the end of the meal, I'm full and there's plenty to take with as leftovers. I am NOT a fan of the service here or I might go more than once a month. The waitresses are borderline rude and don't do a good job keeping up with waters, etc.

If you are looking for an "Omaha Steakhouse" which locally also means one with an Italian bent, this is as good as it gets. Every meal here includes both pasta and coffee in the price. Though it has a very classy/old school Italian style decor, I have seen people come in for dinner wearing farmer overalls (this is Omaha after all, and the stockyards used to be close by). Parking is convenient across the street, and well lit. This is the type of place that makes you never want to eat at a chain steakhouse again, the steaks are great and service reliable

I've never actually seen a Cascio's menu, but as it's a favorite of my Iowa-living in-laws, I've been there for two separate rehearsal dinners (my husband's brother's and sister's). So... I'm going to go ahead and assume that they're doing something right! My first impression upon entering Cascio's (established 1946 and looking every bit the part) was that it looked like it might've once been a bowling alley. It's HUGE, and the front counter-- with its glassed in display case and ample shelving-- seemed the perfect spot for doling out rental shoes and balls. Now, it's used to purvey Cascio's tee-shirts and their signature house salad dressing. Also like a bowling alley, there's a separate lounge/bar area set aside from the massive dining room(s). I understand it's been Cascio's Steakhouse for 60+ years now, but I'd be really curious to know if my bowling alley suspicions hold true. Note to self: look into it. My second impression of Cascio's was that it looks like a real FAMILY establishment. And by FAMILY, I mean it looks like the Sopranos might eat here a lot. That is, if they ruled Omaha. On each rehearsal dinner occasion, Cascio's has had to manage a group of 30+ people. They did so graciously, easily, and efficiently. Both times, each guest was given a choice of ordering The Shrimp, The Chicken, or The Steak, each of which came with a baked potato, mostacelli in tomato sauce, and a salad. I ordered The Shrimp. My husband ordered The Chicken. Locals who'd been to Cascio's many times before ordered The Steak. They are, after all, a steakhouse. A few protests were made by guests who were told that-- because of the size of our group-- all steaks had to be cooked medium-rare, no exceptions. Cascio's is old-school. The salad is straight-up iceberg lettuce, decorated with a single black olive and pepperoncini. Normally this would piss me off (I'm a salad-lover), but the house dressing it's liberally tossed in is SO DAMN GOOD it makes this meager offering something of a marvel. Now I know why they sell it by the mason jar at the front desk! Light and garlicky and ridiculously good, it's pretty amazing stuff. The mostacelli (if that's even how you spell it... basically it's the same thing as penne to this non-Italian girl's eyes) was nothing special, served in a watery tomato sauce and basically just a filler option. My shrimp were huge, batter dipped, and fried. YUM. Battered shrimp are so much better than breaded shrimp, in my opinion. Thumbs-up to Cascio's for knowing this and running with it. My husband's chicken was simple, grilled, tender, and seasoned just perfectly. The baked potatoes were, as one grandmother put it, "just like potatoes you'd get on the farm." Being a city girl, I have no idea what she meant by that... but they were pretty damn tasty and perfectly sized. None of those obscenely huge mutant 'taters here. These were smaller than your fist, but done perfectly just right. The potato as a side dish need be no bigger than that! Americans and their gluttony... I'd be curious to try Cascio's actual menu one day, now that my husband's sibs are all married off and it doesn't look like there'll be any more rehearsal dinners in the near future. Until then, I'll give them four stars for good food, really good customer service, and some super-fantastic salad dressing. Bonus: nobody got whacked during the meal. So there's that...

This is truly an Omaha classic. I once had a dream here as a child that Michael Jackson pulled up in a limo to eat here. I guess I used to think it was fancy or something. So every time I even drive by here I remember that. Anyway, on my last trip to the big O, my parents suggested Applebee's or Chili's. I said I wanted to eat somewhere that only Omaha has. Cascio's it was! It is nice, and yes you get a lot of food for the money. I am sad to say though that our service was terrible. We were there for about two hours with 5 adults and 2 children. It took a really long time to get our food, then when we did get it one person didn't get theirs. It was the fried catfish that apparently takes longer than everything else and they forgot to put the order in. So everyone else was done eating and my Dad still didn't have his main course yet. They did comp him a glass of wine for it but that doesn't excuse the fact that he scarfed down his dinner and didn't really get to enjoy it because everyone else was finished with their food. But that being said, I would give them 3 1/2 stars if I could because the food was really good. I got the prime rib special and it was fantastic! In fact even though it was enough food I could have kept eating it had there been more. Really tasty. I just hope next time we make it in we have a more attentive server.

I used to live two houses down from this restaurant and would play with the manager son. I used to play inside this restaurant as a kid The inside seems to be updated with new carpet ect... Has that old fashion steak house feel to it, I like that. I really like all the memorabilia on the wall from past years. We picked this restaurant because it was my wife's birthday and I enjoy reminiscing to my kids about how much fun the neighborhood was growing up. We were seated promptly and with a smile! The waitress kinda scared me coming up behind me asking if anyone would like a drink. I've had some pretty bad luck with waitresses not introducing themselves to us. I think it's helpful because I just don't using the words such as, ma'am, lady ect... It felt as though she had worked there for quite some time. We ordered appetizers to start. Fried mushrooms with cheese sauce. Excellent taste with the homemade mushrooms, my kids had no idea and once I told them they resented eating them. We also tried the garlic bread. Just grilled seasoned Italian bread toasted just right. Me and my wife both ordered the 11oz sirloin. Side salad and pasta marinara. The salad was fresh iceberg and tasty. The sauce that came with the pasta had to much pepper I believe. My kids and wife also thought the same. I added sugar from the packets on the table for kids to make the pepper taste less peppery lol? The steaks came out, mine being the wrong size. There is also a 6oz sirloin and the waitress explained she hit the wrong button and was sorry. My steak was cooked perfectly and had a fresh and well seasoned taste. My wife's not so much, she said hers was bland... My wife ordered the loaded baked potatoe, the baked potato came out with 4 slices of craft cheese melted with about 2oz of bacon in the center. I laughed out loud and couldn't believe how old school it was. Everything else was great and everyone was happy. Next time I'll try the ribeye!

If you judge a restaurant based solely on their featured dish, then Cascio's certainly can be considered a worthy local favorite for steak in Omaha. However, in this day and age (and for the prices that Cascio's is charging), it takes a little more to earn a 5-star rating. Since 1946, Cascio's has been serving Omaha, which makes me interested in a place on that record alone. However, when you walk in, you are immediately hit with the sense of "cafeteria" or Las Vegas-style all you can eat; no they do not offer that - just saying it feels like it when you walk in. In the main dining "hall", they have standing up a giant 60" HDTV so you can't miss the baseball game (ohhh, you wanted an intimate steakhouse? How do you say "Forgettaboutit" in Italian?). Their house salad is drown in their oily house garlic dressing - honestly it was terrible. My wife was staring at me with that "DON"T say anything Dave!" look, as if I were about to make a scene. "Let's just wait until the steaks come, then decide - ok?" Yes dear. So I waited for my petite filet, and thank goodness, it was really good. The review I would have written had it not been! But it was very tasty, grass-fed beef. Very tender and delicious. The green beans were from the can and baked potato was... well... a baked potato. But the steak was good. So based on the overall experience, I am giving a generous two-star rating with an emphasis on the steak. The steak was good - the rest you can keep.

Best Hostess that I've had in any Omaha restaurant, I believe her name was Laci, went over and above to get us the perfect table. Food hasnt changed in 30 years, still just average but the service was outstanding!

Truly disappointing. Read great reviews but really fell short. Service was terrible.... We had to ask our waitress if she could please take our dirty dishes after appetizers and seemed like she was bothered by it... I love a good steak but i only made it half way through my steak. It was cold and just lacking flavor and was more upset for having to pay for such an expensive dinner with such poor quality ingredients. It truly compared to Denny's.

Cascio's is the place.......it will remind you of restaurants back in the day when they welcomed you as family. The food is excellent.....you're not out west where menu items are extra. Cascio's and their staff are there to make you feel welcome which dates back to when the founders, Al and Joe called ya "Cuz" when you walked in. This tradition is still the same to the third generation member of the family, Alfie. If you want great food served on covered linen tables and yes linen napkins Coffee or tea with water always with the meal, home made breadsticks, soup, salad with their house dressing, pasta, a side dish of potatoes or veggies and yes then your menu item all at a great price then look no further.....you will not be disappointed.....just tell Alfie .....Gio sent ya Cuz.........

Cascio's was a grandparents go to growing up. I was a little worried but thanks to GPS I found it no problem. there are two huge parking lots across the street on 10th for parking. I was welcomed like an old friend especially after I said i'd been for years. I was assured the breadsticks are the same.. I loved the breadsticks growing up. they are still delicious fresh and I love love love them for that tradition. I ordered lasagna and that comes with soup and salad, and coffee or tea. I ordered hot tea ( my grandpa always ordered it) and had the memory of the little silver pitcher with hot water on the table again. the soup salad and lasagna were delicious and I had spumoni with whipped cream for dessert. could almost hear my grandparents oohing over the sundae dish.. it all was lovely, service was wonderful. Please give your kids/grandkids memories of coming here.. its a wonderful place to visit and revisit.

Call me old fashioned but this is the only place in Omaha I will eat prime rib. In fact my last dying meal would be the prime rib. One side I have a empty gap missing a tooth and the other side a bridge therefore it's hard to chew steak when not cooked to perfection. Cascios is the ONLY place I will order a steak where I'm not constantly pulling chewed up chunks of hard fat out that I can not chew. The family is very nice and polite and always have been. Salad could be a bit more colorful, but hey it is a true Italian salad as my husband says. And the Bloody Mary's are bomb, literally knock ya on your ass good... lol

Oh, Cascio's. Cascio's has a special place in my heart, probably because I remember coming here as a child, my great-grandmother feeding me limes from her vodka gimlet, my cousins and I all dressed up, single-file-line holding hands to the bathroom and back snaking through the busy restaurant, ogling the cigarette machine that seemed so novel and elegant and adult, my uncle trying to trick us into eating parsley by telling us it's candy, then a little older, trying to sneak into the lounge, the time the lounge singer was so drunk she sat down on stage during "rock around the clock" because damn her clock was not in order, the patrons waxing and waning, a meal with my future wife's family for her grandparents' 65th wedding anniversary, and then finally, having my rehearsal dinner in the big room at the back. It's impossible for me to objectively judge Cascio's, because every time I open that giant door I feel like a kid again, and happy family memories flood every taste of swimming-in-sauce-and-cheese chicken parmesan. I think the steaks are good, the breadsticks have always been my favorite, the onion rings are tasty, the salad is meh and I refuse the soup.

This is an old fashioned steakhouse. Got there and right away was assigned a table sort of in the back by one of the employees. We sat down and right away server comes over and takes our order. Wine selection could be better. The restaurant is huge and dark inside. They could fit large groups without a problem. Also, they have plenty of free parking. They serve bread sticks like the Olive Garden. Their salad is a really small one. If you go, ask for the dressing on the side because if not, they'll drown your salad. They also give a you a tiny saucer-like serving of their soup of the day which is pretty good. My issue visiting this restaurant for the first time, was that I ordered Chicken Parmagiano and they piled on the sauce on it where I couldn't see the actual chicken and then they gave me a side saucer-like size of the pasta I ordered and it was on a separate dish that it took away from the main dish itself. Not sure why the pasta cannot be with the meat one orders. The saucer with my pasta was as if it was an after thought. Prices are not cheap but moderate to expensive. Oh, finally when you order any steak, inspect it after it's brought to your table because one of us ordered med. rare and received steak cooked med. well. For a steak house one would think cooking this steak would be a simple task, right? Anyway, our dining experience was OK otherwise but not great.

THIS REVIEW IS FOR PIZZA ONLY. They have started offering pizza now in the evenings. I gotta say it is pretty darn good. It is a thin crust style - but not cracker thin like some. We ordered two to go, a hamburger and a combo. The hamburger actually turned out to be the best bet since the thin crust really couldn't handle combo. We will definitely go back for more.

I haven't eaten dinner here and most likely never will... not my kind of place. Sure it has plenty of 'history' but I'll go to the Durham if that's what I'm hungry for. We stopped in at the bar for appetizers and drinks. Bottled beer was a-okay. Appetizers were all fried. Fried ravioli, fried onion rings, fried mushrooms, fried cauliflower. Okay, so one wasn't... garlic bread smothered in cheese. But that's what they have to offer. Take it for what you will.

We were going to hit up Piccolo's on our Omaha trip after seeing it profiled on TV, but it was pretty busy so we decided to hit up Cascio's. I really enjoyed myself, and my companions liked it too. It's very old-school in there with the grand entryway and huge dining room. I felt like I was in a movie or in Vegas or something. Our waitress was attentive enough, though she did appear to be an old pro going through the motions a bit. That didn't bother us, though. It's great that you get coffee included and I enjoyed several cups of it. The bread and butter was a nice beginning because we were very hungry. You get extras that you didn't see coming. We all ordered our steaks and the next thing we got was a cup of some nice soup that we weren't expecting at all. I though the pasta (mostaccioli) was just OK at best, but I didn't really need it. The salad was pretty spotty as well, but again, it was more of a 'something to do' course while we waited. When our steaks came we were delighted. My baked potato was delicious and the New York Strip medium rare: YUM. The steak was so luscious and melted in my mouth. It was well seasoned, I thought. It needed no sauce or extras. Just a great steak. I wished I'd ordered the 14 oz. rather than the 9, because I wanted more towards the end. Even though I was very full at that point, I wanted more steak. I felt that since we were in Omaha we had to hit up a steak house. I had a good time at Cascio's, and it certainly fit our needs and budget. I wouldn't hesitate to come back for some of that fantastic steak.

I had an amazing cut of prime rib and my son had ravioli. Both were excellent. It is pricey but you get what you pay for and it's worth it!! We will be back soon!! Our waitress Mandy was incredible super friendly and attentive.

I ordered the Queen - (10 oz.) prime rib (medium rare). The steak was AMAZING, juicy and tender and cooked to perfection. The rest of the meal was rather underwhelming. The salad is just plain iceberg lettuce with ONE black olive on top and a peppercini. My baked potato (that came with the steak) was over cooked. (Not sure how you screw up a baked potato, but they managed it). The steak comes with a pasta side, I ordered the spaghetti. The sauce was watery and too sweet for my liking. The service was very slow, which was interesting since the restaurant was not even half full on a Friday night @ 6:00pm. (It took the waitress 25+ minutes to take our order). The restaurant décor itself looked like something out of the 1970's. I think I could find a better all-around meal for the price of $23.95.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
