Barry O's is a great spot. The bartenders are fast and very fun. I havent been there on a weekend night in ages but its always a nice place to start on a weeknight and I enjoy the patio when I can get a spot!

How can you not love Barry O's. Great service and if you can get the dart board keep it! Had a blast from the past as I haven't been here for probably 20 years but it didn't disappoint. The bar is typically filled with Old Market regulars, Creighton kids and everyone in between. It's always had the best jukebox in the Old Market.

Growing up, I only knew Barry O's as the place where the patrons used to vomit on my father's office stoop. But that was 20+ years ago, and the bar is still going strong. (The office has since moved, so no word if the vomit party continues). We stopped at Barry O's as part of the Crawl for Cancer this year and during our visit somebody played "Let it Go" (yes, from the movie Frozen) on the juke. It was about 2pm on a Saturday - I think - and it was amazing. Will I be back to Barry O's? You bet!

Barry O's was my second stop and second disappointment in the Old Market on a Saturday night. After leaving another "Irish Pub" (There are no "irish Pubs" in the OM just FYI) because it was too crowded we decided to stop here because it wasn't ridiculously busy. I may come back, I may not, really depends on how the night is going. So we walked in and it literally smelled like a port-a-potty. I don't know why. My buddy said the same thing when we first walked through the door "Why does it smell like a toilet?" Yeah that was a pretty big turn off for me. It took me about 10 minutes to order a beer while two bartenders screwed around talking to each other slowly making some cocktails for a couple girls and the other bartender with sunglasses on at night stood there not seeing that we didn't have drinks (probably because he's wearing sunglasses inside at night). Definitely the most expensive Boulevards I have ever ordered. The inside is kind of neat I guess besides the smell. We sat next to a local and were able to chat with him for a little bit and the one female bartender (who was pretty cute by the way) was very nice. Not my best experience ever but I might find myself here again.

Stopped in with my husband while staying a night in the city. We're from Sioux City, IA. We stopped in because it's image is an 'Irish Bar.' It looks like one, bit they were playing some really hippie-ish music. And the place kind of smells like a bathroom. Like pee that's been cleaned up with bleach. Had service right away. Good tv's. Ok prices, but we're used to small-town bar prices. We came on a Monday night, so small crowd. All hipsters. We just had our one round.

Weird little place this is. My gf and I went here one afternoon around 4:30. The place was totally dead. There was Irish themed shit festooned on everything but they were blaring gangster rap. Odd combo but I've enjoyed weirder places... The bartender seemed sort of upset that we were there and the table we sat at was pretty damn sticky. There was also a lingering aroma of urine which most certainly did not enhance the flavor of my beer. I would not return or recommend it.

Good solid bar with a great bunch of locals. Location is top notch in the old market and the make a stiff drink. Only drawback.... when events are downtown, place can get pretty crowded.... I mean REALLY crowded.

I moved to Omaha not knowing a sole. Barry O's is one of the few places where I feel welcomed and at home - not like a "non-Nebraskan". There are usually a couple of friendly pup's hanging out adding to the friendly atmosphere. Since they don't have a kitchen you can bring your own food or a dish to share (many or the regulars and bartenders do - especially for special games or events). Barry and his band of marry regulars make a point to get to know the patrons and welcome them into the fold.

The best bar in the old market. Old school attitude, excellent staff, proper owners.

These reviewers are crazy. This is one of the most diverse and cultured bars in Omaha. If you can have a good time here, you're probably having problems at a lot of bars.

Definitely my favorite neighborhood bar in the Old Market! Super friendly staff, great location, awesome drinks. I love the atmosphere and always feel welcomed at Barry O's!

Sitting at the bar enjoying a warm beer when a large cock roach runs across the bar. Reacting quickly, I smash it and call the bartender over. He uses a coaster to scrape the roach off the bar. He explains, "old bar, lots of roaches". So, after finishing my warm beer, I left and spent my money elsewhere. No roaches were encountered in the next bar. Sorry Barry, but your place is filthy.

I think the overall rating for Barry O's is a bit lower than necessary. It definitely deserves 3 stars. I've been there twice; once on a real busy Friday night, and another time during Thursday Happy Hour (pretty empty). During Happy Hour, 2 draft beers costed $5 - not bad. They have a few TV screens around, so it's an okay place to catch a game. My only complaint is that the bartender girl was very preoccupied hanging out with her friends, and it was a little unprofessional and obnoxious. I don't think it's the kind of place you want to spend your whole night in, but it certainly was a good stop for a pint of beer.

I am stopped in Barry O's Tavern to watch the baseball game. The staff was friendly, the bartender turned on the sound of baseball game for me even though Monday night football was on. Cheap drinks, friendly staff....it's just a traditional Irish bar with with lots of history!

This bar is pretty hit or miss. Either its jam packed or you can have your pick of any table in the place. Regardless, Barry-O's is a good place to meet up, chat with good friends, and sip on a pint. I think the charm for this establishment is that it is cozily small but very accommodating should a mass crowd suddenly barge in. Definitely don't have high expectations and you won't get let down. :)

A buddy and I were visiting Omaha and looking for places to grab a beer. A Google search turned up a lot of reviews trashing Barry O's, so we had to find out why for ourselves and decided to head on in. Unfortunately we didn't get to find out. (Or did we?) The place was so packed that we couldn't get anywhere close to the bar. My buddy had better luck than me, making it to within a few feet, but after ten minutes he was unable to get the attention of a bartender so we gave up and left. I've been to too many other bars that were just as packed and had only one bartender yet been served in moments, so that's just not an excuse.

I don't live in Omaha anymore but Barry O's is the first place I go when I visit. It's in a fantastic location, The Old Market, and there's always a great vibe, no matter what's happening - sports on the tube, live music or the juke box. I especially miss the friendly staff!
