I ate there tonight. Had the BBQ plate with Baked Beans, Cole Slow, Garlic Mashed Potatoes and 2 pieces of Texas Toast. I must say the BBQ was very tasty and I very much like their sauce. Beans were also very good and I must say my favorite was the Garlic Mashed potatoes were outstanding. Waitress may ask you if you want gravy on them. Don't do it! They are great just as they are. While there I talked to a few other patrons and it appears this place is a big hit with the locals who have been back many times. Got seated immediately and the wait staff is more than willing to fix your plate or substitute, anyway you want it. I think this place is a Winner! Looks small from the outside but much bigger once you get in. Also appears the vacationers at the lake like it too. Oh there is keg and bottle beer, wine and liquor also. So this is a full service restaurant.

Stumbled on this place during a cross country trip and glad we did! Awesome burgers made with top notch beef. Great salads with super fresh veggies. A little bit of a long wait given it's a counter service joint but it's totally worth it!
We were on a spontaneous drive from North Platte, thinking about checking out Lake McConaughy a few miles north of Ogallala, and realized we were starving. I wanted to skip the usual fast food and find a local place and this one has the best Yelp review. I had relatively high expectations. It was a Sunday, presumably after people were getting done with church, and it was pretty busy. We had to stand in line to order at the counter, which I'm not knocking them for in my review--lots of places operate that way and under any other circumstances, I wouldn't have minded. But we had our four kids with us, we'd been in the car for a while, we were all ready to just sit down and get some drinks and an appetizer going. The menu all looked really good. I'm guessing this place is known and liked for its burgers, but we were planning on grilling burgers for dinner and decided to order chicken. I got the "northcoast" sandwich, with pico, guac, and pepper jack cheese. I figured that was a safe bet with those ingredients, but it had surprisingly little flavor. The fries looked terrible, tasted pretty good, didn't have the best texture. Too soggy for me. The kids chicken ("yard bird") strips looked very weird and unappetizing, but they seemed to like them. Oh, and we started off with a pitifully small order of fried pickles for $7. Barely enough to share. The best thing for me was that their beer menu includes a rotating seasonal or local beer on tap. I always get local beer if it's an option, and this one didn't disappoint. They had Cornstalker dark wheat, and I had seen it in grocery stores before but never tried it. It was absolutely fantastic. Overall I was pretty underwhelmed for what we spent, but I would probably go back and give it another try for the burgers.
Food was good, definitely an excellent burger. Nice place for a small town. But we thought $22 for one burger, one chicken sandwich, fries, and soda was on the high side, though. Restaurant ambiance was clean, but not anything special. All in all, we probably would have just as well grabbed a Mickey D's and kept rolling.

Decent Mexican food, somewhat slow service. The menu has lots of options, both standard tex-mex and a wide selection of more authentic options. I had the steak tampiquenos, which was skirt steak, beans, and a chicken mole enchilada. The mole sauce was unflavorful, but everything else was pretty good. There was a little pico sauce on the plate which had some kick to it. I recommend getting guacamole to go with the chips.
If you go here and more then half the tables are full, walk out and go somewhere else. That is unless you have a couple hours to spare. The food here is good, the margaritas are weak, but there aren't many other choices around. If your order is wrong, or for some unforseen reason every order after yours comes out first, don't expect an apology or for them to even care.
The food was "meh." I guess no one in Nebraska has ever seen real Mexican food. Perhaps a road-trip to one of the other 3 Margaritas restaurants in the Denver Metro is in order. The wait staff had a very difficult time splitting the check in half. Food: 1 star. Service: 3 stars. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 because at least they tried, and were friendly throughout the dining experience. Unfortunately, I can't really recommend this restaurant--unless you don't have any other choice. But, there's a McDonalds right next door. ;)

Why nobody in town seems to know about this place is beyond me. Asked our hotel front desk if there were any local places to get breakfast and was told Denny's, asked the ladies at the gas station if there were any places besides Denny's and McDonalds for breakfast or brunch. They replied with "Well only Denny's because it is past 10:30 so Mcdonalds is done with breakfast". Spoke with the cashier at the QuickStop and her reply was still only Denny's even though Front street is walking distance from her shop. Oh well. Great food and atmosphere and we will be back next time we head to Lake Mac!
This was definitely a touristy place with a lot of character. We didn't do any of the shows, but did tour the gift shop and museum-I would recommend taking the time to do both. The food was delicious-we had everything from chicken fried chicken, prime rib, and New York strip to fried Mac and cheese bites (amazing!). The service was ok, but very slow (it was Saturday night at 7pm to their defense). Great atmosphere and great food-overall I would do it again!
My wife and I met her parents here, and since it had fairly decent reviews online we decided to try it out. Me and my inlaws had burgers and my wife had a BBQ Pork sandwich. My wife said her BBQ Pork was OK, nothing special but not bad either. I have the same opinion of my burger as well. The service here was a big issue. There weren't too many people here when we were, and it still took forever for our food to get out to us. Once we did get our food, the server was very few and far between and several times there were empty drinks at our table. Another concern of mine was that the prices were outrageous. I don't understand how a Chicken Fried Steak could cost $15, or some of there steaks that were between $25-$30. I've noticed Ogallala has very few dining establishments, and I felt like this restaurant was taking advantage of its customers.

This place was great! Fast clean and fresh. As to the girl from Houston; I lived in California for 30 years and never had a burrito with potatoes in one! The salsa was nice and zippy, I like that they put it in a syrup picture so as no to waste any. And as to the guy from California who complained about the hours...... It's a small family owned place, if there are no customers closing early will happen!
Good food. Great green chili! Price are reasonable and this family owned restaurant has a friendly staff.
Local tasty Mexican food with moderate to inexpensive prices. We enjoyed a late lunch and thankfully gave this place a chance over the gross alternatives (fast food) all around. I got a great veggie dish with eggs and my mom got a chicken enchilada. Everything was fresh. Salsa was especially good.

Run away! Run away quickly! For your own sake! Do not eat here! How does a place like this exist? If anyone has seen restaurant impossible, this place is the worst of the worst. First things first, they have pizza. Not fresh pizza, but pizza. It was cold, sitting on the hot heater thingy. At best I'd call it "room temperature". Food is supposed to be hot at a buffet if it's hot food. And cold if it's cold food! Supposedly they change it fast based on other reviews, but what the hell? This is like the dirtiest looking country bumpkin shack I have ever seen. I don't mean that as an insult to country folk, but I mean that as an insult to any concept of following any concept of food safety. I don't think they even pay attention to the food they are making - they have labels, but the food does not match. They have cheese pizza labeled (important for you know, vegetarians), but put other pizzas there. Do they have any idea what would happen if someone was allergic to pepperoni which they put there instead? How are you going to tell the difference if all you can see on top is a layer of cheese? Sure I can eat meat, it doesn't bother me, but I could see people not being happy with the result here. If you're not going to make another of (pizza labeled on the buffet), leave it empty. At least you know what's there. Also, we went at like 630, and there were a grand total of 3 groups there. Not exactly a vote of confidence for a decent sized town, is it? Nobody should eat here, and the health inspectors would shut this place down in 5 seconds if they saw the stuff I saw when I unfortunately happened to eat here. Are you supposed to put out 2-3 day old labeled bulk food? Doesn't exactly sound like quality to me. At least it wasn't bulk mayonnaise or I would have walked out the door. I took a pepto just to make sure that I didn't get food poisoning. I feel really sorry for the cute married girl who is the cashier, because I don't know if there are other jobs available in a region like this. Yes they have lasagna, pizza, salad, etc. No it doesn't look anything like the picture. If the picture is way too good to be true, that should give you an idea of what this place is like on the inside. If you value your stomach, do not ever eat here. Starve if you must. Are other valentino's this bad? I have no idea. This is the only one I've ever been to. So maybe it's an exception?
The best pizza between Denver and Lincoln!
We were traveling I-80 eastbound after a stay in the southwest, we'd had magnificent Mexican food during our time there and had a hanker'in for pasta. The navi came up with Valentino's. We called for directions and to be sure they were indeed an Italian place. They said they are a pizza buffet plus pasta on the menu. They're right by the interstate, we dropped by at about 7:30 pm & were seated by a sweet hostess. Indeed they had a pizza buffet, with pasta, lasagna, multiple sauce choices, plus salad & dessert bar all for $9.25. That's what we chose, my wife loved the marinara sauce she had pasta, I chose the hearty meat sauce with rotini, we both had salads (ice berg lettuce). They have a unique cherry dessert pizza for cherry lovers, I had two pieces. For sure, it ain't Lidia's Italy, but it's good food served by nice people (the manager or owner stopped by to see how things were) in a clean place.

How do I love Runz? let me count the ways. This is great travel food. Easy in and out location. If you have no idea what a Runza is, here ya go. It all started in 1949 with the Original Runza® Sandwich. Homemade dough made from scratch everyday -- stuffed full of ground beef, onions, cabbage, and secret spices--and then baked fresh and served hot. Homemade bread stuffed with meat and stuff... how can one NOT love this. Our family does not have many traditions, but making a stop for this sandwhich is one of the highlights of the drive home from Des Moines or Omaha. Trust me.. the drive doesn't have many highlights to begin with. Drive through is normally pretty quick, but worth the wait even if it isn't.
Probably the slowest Runza I've ever been to. Waited about 15 minutes for my order, which was then incorrect. The older dude working the window, bless his heart, was very friendly but absolutely clueless and unsure of what was going on. On the plus side, the food tasted solid, as Runza food almost always does.
My family is huge Runza lovers, we enjoy the fresh burger and fries and delicious home made ranch! We are spoiled by our hometown beautiful Runza which is well managed. This place is inside a gas station. Warning sign one. Food was ok, place was dumpy and filled with flies! Staff was ok...

This is an old school family establishment, not a bad place to eat. They were out of fried chicken, but the walleye was good. The salads are, hmm, well, home cooking I suppose. One involved jello, carrots, and mayonnaise (can you get any more Midwest than that?). The apple butter is made by one of the waitresses and is really excellent-- I bought a huge jar for $5 to take home. The best part was hearing about soap box derby from the kid who won all the trophys on the wall. So, if you're looking for a friendly place for some classic grub, this is the place for you. It's a bit overpriced for what you get, though.

We stopped here for lunch enroute north. Our food was freshly prepared as ordered, customer service was good, and the facility was clean and nice. I would recommend it for a quick lunch stop along the way.
Subway has many pros and cons to eating at their fast food restaurant. Some of the pros to eating at Subway are the low cost food and the fast service. Some of the cons are the processed and unhealthy food. I have often gotten sick while eating at their restaurant. Overall I would not probably go back to subway. Due to the bad food I would rather eat somewhere more expensive just for better food.
Pretty clean store. Idk if the young girl was not happy to be there. But it just seemed like she wasn't thrilled to be there! The other lady was real nice!
