This place lives up to the hype, and easily dwarfs all competition. It feels like an amusement park was built all around a farm without loosing any of the charm. If only Knotts Berry Farm had done it this way... Skip the roller coasters and stick to the traditional setting of the farm... Awesome.

This would definitely be a fun place if you have children. Or you're really, really young at heart. I enjoyed myself, especially the apple donut I had, but I think I'll only return with kids. The pig races were cute and I liked the apple shooting and the hayrack ride, but the rest was too little kiddie, to food SUPER expensive and the lines really long.

So in Illinois we call these same things "Rip Off Mills". Back in Nebraska they are reasonably priced bushels of fun for the whole family. My niece was able to feed a littany of goats that walked through a large enclosure that was fun to look at. She took a picture with a "skeleton mickey". I shot apples with a slingshot, rode down giant slides, watched pigs race, and ate like a pig as well. They let you pick out your pumpkins, play mini-gold, go into haunted houses, and even more. You can easily spend an entire day here in October without getting gouged to the point where you beg for mercy.

My wife wanted to take my daughter to Vala's yesterday, (Sunday) to pick out her first pumpkin. It opened at 9am and we showed up at around 10am. It was extremely busy, but luckily the workers showed you where to park. There is so much to do at Vala's Pumpkin Patch. You can take a hay rack ride out to the pumpkins to pick one out, or to simply go on a hay rack ride. You can listen to the animatronic bands play. they have farm animals that you can feed, Vala's has a ton of stuff for the whole family. The price was good for us since we were PinPoint Members and we got buy one, get one free deal from PinPoint. Other wise its $14.25 a person, which isn't bad considering the hours you could spend there. Overall, the morning was a success. My wife and daughter had a great time and so did I. I think that my family will have to make a trip out to Vala's a yearly tradition.

Not sure if my family will be back this year or not. I have been coming to Vala's since I was a little kid. Literally all my life this has been a tradition in my family. It had been a few years since I had been here but we decided to take our son last October. It seemed like there was a lot less to do, and the same old attractions really need some love and upkeep! They were completely disgusting please just clean them up a bit, dust em off. Another huge disappointment was the corn maze. There was no maze! All of the corn was flattened and you could see through the entire "maze". I was sad. The restrooms were horrid. Spiders through out them, dark and creepy. Smelly. Toilet paper and trash all over the place. I believe there was only one diaper changing station, that there was a line for. And some of those papers you put on the seat would be much appreciated! Lots of traffic to these restrooms and no cleaning, leaves you feeling a bit grossed out. Lines move slooooow for EVERYTHING. Literally we sat in our car in line for over an hour just to park! No joke. Food is over priced. Nothing really great in the gift shops, I really tried to find some interesting things to spend some money on but just couldn't. I only ended up buying a skull candle holder that is a lovely decor piece in my bedroom, and my husband bought one of the old medieval doctors masks. You know, the ones with the weird long noses? Speaking of the gift shop, there was a really creepy guy dressed like a clown (I hate clowns!) sitting in a chair by the entrance. I avoided eye contact and prayed to heaven he wouldn't move lmao. My hubby wants to give them a second chance this year but I'm a bit hestitant. Who knows perhaps we will go but not so sure yet. The only thing that may be going back for is the home made fudge, and the saltwater taffy.

We go here every year! I really do not think it is overpriced considering all there is to do to. If you spend the day there, as most people do, you definitely get your money's worth. And even the food to me is really not that expensive. Even a chicken nugget meal from mcdonalds is 6.50 these days. You can get a cheeseburger with fries and a drink here for about 8.00. If price is an issue, they have no restrictions on bringing in outside food, so you could always bring a picnic lunch. You can also bring in your own water. That's really pretty amazing, because so many places these days will not allow you to do that and then charge so much for beverages. I think valas does a great job keeping costs down when you look at the big picture. We love coming here. And will be back for many years to come.

Fun place... HUGE. Lots to do, see and eat!! The crowds this year was UNREAL. It was like Disney World... actually worse because there weren't any express lanes. This is a fall tradition. I probably won't go next year because of the crowd. Unless, I went on a weekday.

Valas is one of my most favorite activities every year, I always look forward to it! Word to the wise, if you can take a day of pto during the week and go....DO IT. I attempted this place on a weekend a couple of years back, not even worth it, and if you read the paper last weekend, valas funnels through 17,000 visitors on a typical Saturday. Weekdays are awesome!! Some of their food stands are closed during the week. There are endless activities and I have to say the addition of the pie barn this year is awesome!!! They have some really healthy food options (which you can't really find anywhere else on site) and some awesome pie selections! I can't wait to try the salted caramel apple we picked up! Also, great doughnuts at the stand near the entryway! They were fresh and had a sugary crunchy crust! Can't say enough great things about valas!

I've been coming here for almost 20 years. They keep it fresh every year , and very family orientated and fun for adults. Incredible brand new pie barn! Best to go very early in the week if you can. Big highway compared to many years ago , gets you there fast.

I have not been to the Pumpkin Patch this year but overall this is a very fun place! There are always fun things to do. The only thing I would like improved is more fun things to do for adults. The prices are also very high.

This is my first year going to a pumpkin patch here in Nebraska. For what is was, I think it was really good. I think they had a lot to see. Food and drinks were good. The ice cream was tasty. I like the fact that you can rent a campfire if you'd like. I do not know how much that cost but I saw a lot of people doing it. I also saw that the employees go around filling your fire with wood, which is pretty nice you do not have to supply your own. The staff is pretty friendly and for being a ranch, it is pretty clean. They had cool mazes to go in and have fun finding your way out. They also have a lot of games, (games that would be at a fair), that are free but no prizes. No prizes shouldn't be a big deal at all. There was a game I didn't care too much for, one that shoots plastic bottles of water. Coming from California where we have droughts frequently, I think it is a waste of water. I feel like they can use something other than water bottles. Vala's is definitely a family oriented place, and there is a lot more to do for kids.

I'd probably have more insight if we'd attended Vala's with some kids in tow, because 99% of the attractions here are geared towards them. Even things that sounded good in theory (pumpkin eating dragon) were a little ho-hum. (Though if I were 5 it would've been the best thing ever!) Still, we had a good time looking around at all that's changed since the last time I was here... probably when I was 5. Goats galore, a camel, guy in a dragon costume, cannons for pumpkins and water bottles, apple slingshots, hayrack rides, mazes, bonfires, chicken coop, campfires, jumpy pillows, bunnyville, candle making, and a giant rocking chair photo op that had a surprisingly long line. You can bring your own refreshments (no alcohol) in coolers, which I'd recommend, or be prepared to shell out for typical captive food/drink pricing ($2/water type stuff). Lots of things also cost money once you get inside, but it seems you could have a reasonable amount of family fun here if you're willing to shell out the cash.

Oh, Vala's. If you go on the busiest days, it's kind of like White Trash Disneyland. But it holds a special place in my heart because I went to high school in Gretna with some of the Vala girls and it was THE place to work during the fall. Firstly, I haven't bothered with a season pass for the last 3-4 years since my oldest started school. We lived pretty far away, our younger ones are free either way, and it is expeeeeensive. Depending on the size of your family, it can cost as much as or more than a zoo pass ($31.50 per person over the age of 2, plus tax), but a zoo pass is good for a whole year. Vala's is only open for a month and a half. That being said, I realize they add more attractions and more employees each year and need to be able to pay them. I'm glad to support a local business but I do wish that sooooo many things didn't cost extra on top of the cost of admission. We usually plan one big trip per season and it IS possible to do everything worth doing in one visit. Plus we always manage to score tickets from somebody in the parking lot for cheaper than they sell them at the gate. Tons of businesses sell discounted tickets as well, and admission is lower on weekdays than weekends. Some people have complained about the rudeness of employees. They do have some crustier ones, especially at the admissions barn, and I've always heard poor things about the apple education experience (which is mainly a school field trip thing). I feel like it's gotten better, though, or maybe they just weren't as harried because I went on a less-busy day. You can bring in your own food but I think their food is worth splurging on. Turkey legs, homemade custard, funnel cakes, chili in bread bowls, barbecue at Pork Chop Annie's, fudge. I personally don't like kettle corn but you can get a gallon bucket of it. If you drink soda, skip the $3+ 20 oz bottles and get a souvenir cup. They're discounted if you buy 2 or more and you get 99 cent refills. If you can, go to the pig races earlier in the day on a weekday so your kid has a better chance of being picked as a "pig leader." If you plan on getting your pumpkins from the fields during the hayrack ride, bring a reusable grocery bag or two! I've learned this from years of juggling 3-5 heavy pumpkins and 2-3 small children who can't make it off and on the tractor without help. There are wheelbarrows (or your stroller basket) to haul them once you're off the tractor but it's easy to forget that you have to lug them across a field and get them on and off aforementioned tractor. Skip the Storybook Barn. It's free, but also creepy. The train is worth the money, the friendliest employees work at the train depot. The apple slingshots are fun (not free) and kids like the pumpkin-eating dragon (free). We do the pony rides every year for the sake of tradition and photo ops. Near the duck races there are family pedal cars which are free and slightly terrifying. Watch out for dumb teenagers acting a fool. Also free are the jumping pillows. Watch out for annoying adults who only look out for their own kids on the toddler jumping pillow. My kids love the corn pit (? I don't know what it's actually called, it's a giant box filled with corn...), but just today we watched a kid wipe his snotty nose on the corn, so you know, maybe hand sanitizer after? If you have multiple kids who need help with their shoes, I'd recommend easy slip-on shoes! Don't be a dummy and try to exit through the one-way entrance (when leaving the pumpkin patch in your car), it happens every year. If you live west of Vala's, I suggest taking Schram road to 192nd to avoid the traffic on 180th. It might be better with the traffic light now, or it could be worse, I don't know, I'm set in my ways.

Went today with my sons preschool class. I was SO excited because it was his very first field trip and I had been to Vala's for several years prior. I will say, on the positive side, the grounds are absolutely beautiful. I very much enjoy the tradition it creates. I was beyond excited that there was a coffee stand and that it was good coffee. The kids had fun...it was all fine. Unfortunately there are negatives, that as a parent and consumer, I feel need to be worked on, as did most in our group. Our first stop was an Apple Education thing. We arrived a smidge late as our bus arrived to the pumpkin patch right on time due to a traffic accident. We rushed to the edge of the grounds to the learning center, and instead of them being welcoming and just cutting the program a bit short, we literally got shoved into the learning room. They were not polite and it was not a great way to start the day. We know it was not your fault we were all late, but it wasn't our fault either...and certainly not the kids' fault. So instead of rushing us in and being snotty about it, put on a smile and tell us we'll get the condensed version. We don't care. They don't care. Trust me. The teacher was completely intolerable of preschoolers. She was rude and didn't speak to the kids as they were...preschoolers. I get it...they're 4 & 5...but come on. I'm bummed we had to waste 30 minutes of our time on it. Please, please, please fix the road approach on the little kid trikes by the covered bridge. EVERY YEAR I spend my time pulling kids and those heavy trikes out of that rut. Same spot. Every year. The bathrooms were not unlocked when we got there and entered in the student area. It was a nightmare for some of us preschool parents. Especially when we rode a bus for an hour and a half to get there. The porta potties were clean though when we found them, so good job on that. The only staff members that we're not downright rude were the train men. The staff in the weigh station were straight up awful. That alone would keep me from going back. So sorry for the complaints, but we were really discouraged.

Just went to Vala's this past Monday and had a pretty grand 'ole time. We drove up and found parking without any trouble. They have a couple of huge lots that aren't all that far from the entrance. We walked up and grabbed our tickets. All the front gate people were incredibly friendly, gave us maps, asked if we had any questions and sent us on our merry way. We were hungry when we came, and very disappointed to find that most of the food vendors we had been excited to try weren't open during the day. I'm not sure why this is? We were here around noon on a Monday, and the place had lots of visitors. The only place that was open for food basically served hot dogs and slices of Valentino's pizza. I was excited to try the Potato Patch (especially the sweet potato chips everyone raves about) and Pork Chop Annie's for some BBQ. Oh well. I made do with an AMAZING caramel apple and some of the best kettle corn I've ever had. Seriously. The kettle corn is so good. I don't know what they do to it, but I couldn't stop eating it. The activities are definitely geared toward kids but the boyfriend and I still had a lot of fun walking around and taking in the sites. The corn maze was fun to get lost in. We had fun just kicking back and people watching and taking in the beauty of the farm. At the end, we picked out some pumpkins and bought some kettle corn for the road. I kept thinking how fun it would be if they had a few 'adult nights' during the season. Maybe some hard cider and kegs of beer? I'm sure it won't happen, but it sure would be fun to come out with some friends and kick back by one of the fire pits with some spiked cider and roasting marshmallows.

Vala's is like the Disney World of the Midwest if you're a child under the age of 10 or so. Since my other half and I don't have any children I suppose we don't get the full Vala's experience, but it makes for a fun day nevertheless. The hay ride is fun, even if a bit bumpy. You can pick a pumpkin in the field for 39 cents a pound. There are numerous food stands throughout the park, but sadly they were out of turkey legs for the season since we went on the last day their open. Food prices are pretty high, which is expected for this sort of attraction, though you can bring in your own picnic lunch to save some money. The pumpkin cannon exhibit is pretty neat as well. There also seems to be an unusually large number of goats in the petting zoo where you can see exactly what Pavlov was talking about. If you put your hand anywhere near the machine that sells the animal feed the goats will go into a frenzy poking their heads through the fence and head butting one another since they think there is food to be had. Just like Pavlov and his little doggy bell. The goats eat all day long, there is no way they are actually hungry. There is also a camel in the petting zoo, which is a site one doesn't expect in a Nebraskan corn field. Apparently the camel has a mean streak and a bad attitude since there are many warning signs about not holding your kids up to the camel. The downsides to this place? First and foremost is the price of admission, a pricey $13 for anyone ages 3 and up. I feel you should get a bit more for your money. Perhaps at least some credit to do things like the apple cannon or a ticket to ride the train? ( The train costs another $4 for person! Sadly, the corn maze this year was so terrible. The corn was very sparse and in many places it was barely above knee high. A corn maze isn't too much fun when you can see over the corn. I have a feeling this summer's drought may be the culprit. Bathrooms are few and far between, unless you want to use a portable toilet, and they were not very clean to boot.

This place is amazing, It is much larger than you could possibly expect, There is more to do at this place than you could do in one day. And at the end of the day you will have gotten more than your money's worth. I don' tthink i can name one activity where you could do more for less money, this is all day for just 10 bucks. The food here was increadable, make sure to not eat for a few days before going , you will need the room to try all the wonderfull food. Seriously There is so much that by the end of the day you will be upset you don't hve room for more, like the chocolate pumpkin spice cheescake or the fresh baby chocolate chip cookies, all the turkeylegs. Too much to name but everything you can imagine, the farm has so much character i have never seen anything like it. It is an awesome place to spend the day and more than enough to do here.

So fun! Admission seems pricey, but everything inside is quite cheap. The majority of activities are free and fun for the whole family. Love the fairy tale area, pig races, kettle corn, singing wood animals, funny graveyard, mine, and the train ride. Great stuff!

Went here yesterday and had a blast!! We used our Pinpoint card and basically 2 of us got in for $14 so we were really happy :) We went to most of the attractions ( pig races, pumpkin launch etc.) They were all the same as I remembered when I was a kid. I also FINALLY got my turkey leg that I've been wanting for a couple years. It was delicous!! Minus the fact it was $8 lol The only thing I really had to complain about was the "Haunted House" It looked grimey and like it hasn't been cleaned for over 20 years. Also, don't you think they could switch it up a bit with all that money coming in?? Anyways, we had a blast and I'll be back on the 14th for a business party! I can't wait :) Great job Valas!!!

I'm a halloween lover but I just wasn't impressed with this place. $12 for "admission" gets me what exactly? The privilege of walking through a half-empty ghost town dotted with stores (where I get to spend more money!) and various mechanical robot bands playing to empty seats. Not to mention a lot of unmanned stations. Perhaps going during the daytime on Friday was my mistake, but if you're going to charge full price then at least all of the attractions should be open. This place just doesn't have the "pumpkin patch" feel I was hoping for, it's like a halloween-themed carnival. I will say that the people working there were all very nice and friendly, but that doesn't save this place from being nearly pointless and utterly disappointing.

This place is soooo fun! I have kids who are 4 and 5 and we've been there twice this season and make sure to go every season and every year it gets better and bigger (which is always so suprising how much more they put into it year after year!). We go on Monday-Wednesday because it is a cheaper admission ($9 versus $12) but there is so much to do. We thought we had done everything the first visit and hadn't even been to half of the farm because our 2nd trip was all new things and we couldn't believe that we had missed that much the 1st 3 hour trip there. There are huge awesome fun bouncing pillows, a nice corn box (corn instead of sand and it's super soft feeling on your feet...) family 4 person pedal bikes with a bike path, smaller bikes for the 7-11 year old single riders. If you want to pay $3 extra there are train rides and pony rides (not sure how much those are). There is a nice hayrack ride out to the pumpkin farm and then there is also a mini train ride (pulled by a little tractor) that you can also do. There is a really fun slide that the kids just like to go over and over on and then there are shows about every hour. There is a fairy tale barn that is fun for the kids, goats to feed all over the place, camel, etc. If you want to do a really fun family bonfire they have them all over the place and you can get catered food and roasted marshmellow kits (we've never done it but swear we are going to do it when the kids are older and we can sit and relax while they enjoy the farm! It's awesome. YOu will love it. Make sure to go down by the bouncing pillows area...that's where a lot of fun is to be had!

I got a great little story that I thought needed to be shared. I went there for a family campfire this last weekend. My two younger brother-in-law's and I went to the corn maze right after we got there. As we were walking in the maze entrance, a lady is heard stating the rules over a loud speaker. "Please follow our strict rules. No running, no making your own paths, no throwing corn, no tearing off pieces of the stalks, etc." She may well have said, "Please follow our strict rules. No laughing, no smiling, no talking, and absolutely no having fun." We weren't more than fifty feet into the maze when a worker in an orange sweatshirt said to my 11 year-old brother-in-law, "Sir, please come with me." Apparently my brother-in-law had picked off a piece of a stalk while walking in." Instead of going further into the maze I followed them out to see what was up. I mean, if i was his age and was being kicked out of a maze and separated from the group I walked in with, I would be terrified. When we got out, they asked him to show the piece he ripped off. This thing was no more than three inches long. It was like something you would pick off the ground, it was like tearing a leaf off of a tree as you were walking by. It was that small. They said he needed to pay up $10.00. "This is a kid," I said, "He doesn't have ten bucks on him!" They asked me to pay for him. I finally did just to get it over with. The argument was going to go in circles anyway. They even told me to wait for my receipt. I'm not even joking around either. I got a receipt that said damage: $10.00. They even had a deputy come out because I was disputing the charge. He said I was lucky to get off this easy. What do they normally do? Do they hang people right by the entrance to show other patrons what happens to children who pick 3-inch pieces of corn off of the stalks? They ask me for 10 bucks when they have already charged me $12.75 to get in? What a joke! I've gone to this place since I was 4. It used to be charming, a little place in the middle of nowhere with a nice hay rack ride, a haunted house, and a little shop to buy Halloween stuff. It's truly turned into a cash monster. What happened to you Valla's? I know money has to be a priority but you should start worrying about customer satisfaction more.

I have been going to Vala's Pumpkin Patch since the day it was open for business! My oldest child was 4 at the time. I have gone 3-4 times a year ever since! It is a family tradition! Yes, the prices continued to increase, and each new attraction that popped up year after year seemed to cost extra. This year even the apples for the apple sling went from $5 to $6. I didn't care, and was willing to spend for the outing to which we enjoyed so much. For the past 6 years myself or one of my sisters would book a campsite. One year we even booked the tent. The big #40 site. I really always thought the party barns were the most charming. Jack-o-lantern #1 is my favorite. However; you MUST book early to reserve a beloved party barn. I set the reminder alarm on my phone a year early so I wouldn't miss the boat! I was actually the first caller this year! I was so excited! The weekend we picked even landed on my birthday this year! I spoke with the owner Jan Vala. She's actually a nice lady. She mentioned that they had built 3 new party barns. She was very convincing that they were the "BEST"! Not knowing the exact location of the new barns, I made certain to specify to Jan that seclusion is a must! She reassured me they are exactly what I had in mind. With her convincing, I went ahead and agreed to "The Buckaroo" site #74. Well, today I took my youngest son to Vala's for what would be the first of many trips this season. We paid $12.88 each to get in the door. The price in October is about $15.00 so we got a bargain.... right? I bee lined right to "our" party barn to check it out, and to my dismay, it is located directly on top of the golf cart road? In my opinion, it is the "WORST" site on the map! I went to the office, spoke with Jan herself, tried to get moved? Anything? How could I be the first person to book and get the worst location? The end result was.... Jan admitted it is not the most secluded site as she had previously suggested, but was not willing or able to do anything to help ease the situation. NOTHING. I then cancelled the site, left the pumpkin patch, after spending $37.00 in less than 2 hours because my day had been ruined. It seems Vala's has become so LARGE that my business is no longer important. Very sad.

I was in Omaha last weekend for my niece's second birthday and we decided to pick pumpkins. Vala's is the obvious choice and when you visit - you will see why. It's MASSIVE. You pay $10/person (excluding young children) but get quite a bit of value for that $10. I was expecting just a pumpkin patch but there was so much more: -bonfires -games -shows -pig races -food stands -animal feeding/petting zoo -mum gardens -etc etc etc We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was packed but not so much so that you couldn't maneuver around. All the children, my niece included, loved this place. If you live or are visiting Omaha in the month of October and have children - go. It'll take the entire afternoon and your kids will love it. Oh - they charge 30 cents/pound for the pumpkins. Not bad!

what a fun place. we went here for the first time 3 years ago and i was expecting, you know, a pumpkin patch. it was more like an amusement park. they have bonfires at sunset with free smores (on wednesday). these huge bouncy pillows in the ground that are awesome trampolines that adults can go on too. lots of little haunted houses, and other fun things. each year they add more so its fun to see what will be different each year. it would be nice if they took down or updated some of the features that are more run down, like the storybook fairy tale area, that needs some work. its usually super busy the closer to Halloween you get and traffic getting in to the place can really be a nightmare. but once you get in they have anything and everything related to Halloween and fall that you could think of or want. they have really good food too. the bread bowls with soup are surprisingly good as well as the kettle corn. they are open the end of September through October and the closer you get to Halloween the busier it gets. it costs over $12 a head to get in and season passes cost about $24 so if you are planning on going more than twice during the season it's worth it to get the pass.
