Runza

Reviews:
This franchise has been around ever since I could remember. My aunts and uncles would come to Omaha for a visit and we would have to stop at Runza least once. Since then Runza has grown into eastern nebraska and even into Loveland, CO. I know I will always have a good meal from Runza, they consistently have great food. The meat is fresh and hand formed into a delicious mouth watering hamburger patty. The French fries are slightly crispy and seasoned with the perfect amount of salt. Did I mention they are crinkle fries! I always order the small wishing I ordered the large, their French Fries are worth the extra 20 minutes on the treadmill. I haven't had the "Runza" sandwich in quite sometime but like everything there I'm sure it has held up its quality and taste. A "Runza" is a closed, warm sandwich filled with ground beef, cabbage, onion (cheese can be added as anadditional option) and seasoning. Okay, now I'm going to have to order one!

Vala’s Pumpkin Patch

Reviews:
This place lives up to the hype, and easily dwarfs all competition. It feels like an amusement park was built all around a farm without loosing any of the charm. If only Knotts Berry Farm had done it this way... Skip the roller coasters and stick to the traditional setting of the farm... Awesome.
Valas is really fun, but pricey with there yummy Carmel apples, and there turkey legs and there kettle corn you should go to valas some day it is really awesome
This would definitely be a fun place if you have children. Or you're really, really young at heart. I enjoyed myself, especially the apple donut I had, but I think I'll only return with kids. The pig races were cute and I liked the apple shooting and the hayrack ride, but the rest was too little kiddie, to food SUPER expensive and the lines really long.

The Beanery

Reviews:
The Beanery is a convenient on your way to I-80 stop for some coffee. You can also get some food too, like croissants with sausage and stuff inside if you like to eat that kinds of stuff. I usually get a mocha from here. It's pretty tasty, however, if you are used to anything from the chains like Starbucks, you may not like the Beanery. It definitely has a different flavor to it. Good, but different. I do like this little coffee shop. Mostly because I'm pretty sure there's only one of them and also because they do make a very consistent coffee. The only thing is, it's a little out of the way.
Love this place! I prefer to frequent locally owned businesses and these guys make it easy. Great coffee and always service with a smile.
As of now, this is the only bona fide coffee place in Gretna. It's located right off Hwy 6/31 on the south end of town. It has a drive-thru and a fairly decent array of specialty coffees and some lighter food items, like sandwiches, paninis, pastries, etc. Although I am a card-carrying "gold" member at SBUX, the closest one isn't close enough to be convenient (about eight miles or so) to home. I wish this place had some sort of punch card for free coffee, but they currently do not. For what it's worth, this place does a pretty good job of brewing and serving coffee. The service is always friendly, and the drive-thru is normally speedy. I live about a mile from The Beanery, so it is okay in my book!

We’ll Smoke U BBQ

11773 S Hwy 6,Ste 6
Gretna, 68028
Reviews:
This is for my first visit only. On this visit I tried the staple they are best known for "Burnt Ends". This is by far the best Burnt Ends I've ever had period. I don't know how to describe it but this is the one. On the other hand tried the Brisket on 2nd visit it's not bad but had better brisket in Omaha. So I will stick with the Burnt Ends.
One of the best BBQ joints in the Omaha area. I ordered the sampler platter which came with Pork, Brisket, Turkey and Sausage with two sides for $15. This came with a bunch of food for a great price. Really enjoyed the mustard sauce. I wasn't crazy about the coleslaw, but the beans were great. They had a nice smokey flavor with jalapeno to give it just the right amount of kick (not too much). I mainly went to try the burnt ends, but they were out that day. Still enjoyed the food!
Read some interesting reviews of We'll Smoke U here on yelp. Some certainly made me chuckle. The smoked meats are well prepared and smoked to near perfection. The smoke flavor isn't overpowering as in some BBQ joints i've be in. Yes, I have eaten BBQ from North Carolina, Texas, Kansas City, etc. I have eaten great BBQ and Bad BBQ and We'll Smoke U ranks in the top 3/4 of the BBQ i've eaten. The sauce selection is limited to 3 sauces and I prefer a spicier sauce than what is available, but the available sauces are certainly palatable. Ribs are tender and separate from the bone quite easily. Competition ribs aren't as tender as these, but most people wouldn't like competition prepped BBQ. The beans are good and the last time I was there I believe I picked up a Jalepeno flavor which excited me! It wasn't enough to make me break a sweat but certainly enhanced the experience with the side. The coleslaw it not the best I've eaten but certainly not the worst either. Its a typical run of the mill coleslaw. The ribs I would give an 8 on a scale of 1-10 which is better than any BBQ restrurant I've had in the Omaha area. The pulled pork is definately a 8 and is juicy and tender with good smoke flavor. The brisket sandwich I had I would give an 7 and I'm not a brisket fan. They're pull chicken was extremely good and I'd give it a 8 also. The comments on service always interest me. You walk up to the counter are greeted and place your order. I've always found the employees pleasant when I've being there, but there isn't a lot of interaction there. They don't need to kiss my @$& to make me happy either. The only complaint I would have is sometimes the food isn't very warm. I also understand BBQ and know that is difficult without nuking the product. The last time i was there the ribs were hot. I have a ways to go to try everything on the menu and will return to We'll Smoke U to get my BBQ fix. Looking forward to warmer weather so I can climb on the Road King and head to We'LL Smoke U

The scent of the smoker is a big draw for this place right on Hwy 31. I first stopped here on my way to Lincoln lured by that very smoker. Inside.. I describe the decor as "southern man cave/early garage"! But don't let the ambiance offend your sensibilities. The smoked meats and sides are sure to impress and please. The owners are great..very friendly. Call early for the best selection. Worth the drive to Gretna!
Walked in and greeted by friendly staff. Very helpful and on the ball. Staff makes you feel like you are at home. We had ribs and pulled pork. Excellent. Customers felt comfortable to talk back and forth table to table. Definatly recommend. Will be back!
Great smoke on the food. Wish they had a sample platter and not just sandwiches. We will be back.

Denny’s

15010 S State Hwy 31
Gretna, 68028
Reviews:
When we walked in, we waited for about 5 minutes before anyone even came to seat us, our waitress ended up seating us, and she seemed very stressed out as she scrambled to find a clean table. We waited for her to find a spot, and the table was dirty and the waitress didn't seem happy to see us as she tossed menus onto the sticky table. As we waited for our food after ordering, we could hear a lot of random yelling coming from the kitchen. The food came quickly, however it wasn't pleasant. I ordered the veggie omelette, thinking it would be decent, but it was literally swimming in grease. My husband and I ordered sour dough bread, when we got white bread, my husband asked our waitress, " is this white or sourdough?" the waitress said "did you order white or sourdough?" my husband said, "sourdough" then the waitress responded, "we'll then it's sourdough." And walked off. It was white bread.... The place was understaffed for a Sunday morning, and the food was awful. Waste of money. Don't bother.
I know it's a franchise diner but I was very pleased with the speedy service and delicious food! We ordered the all-american slam and lumberjack slam.definitely worth every penny for how heavy the meal we got!
I love so much Denny's but this place is the worst. Waited 6mins to get seat however there were many free seats and servants were talking each other like they don't care. 10 Mins later one servant came and asked for food and she forgot about asking drink and then we smelt the alcohol from her mount.. Wow! Drunk servants working there. Worst service but food is fine.
