We are thrilled Yelp pointed us to Mixing Bowl!! We are RVers always looking to support local small business. This one pleased us greatly. Had the Cali Turkey BLT, Broccoli Cheese Soup and the salted sweet potato fries finished it beautifully. The food was fantastic, tasty and appetizing. Service was swift and friendly. Will recommend it on our blog: Www.landyachtliberty.blo…

Quaint little shop. We had the famed special, cabbage burgers (runza), they were ok, pretty dry. We were the only ones there so service was great. The crew was friendly. The basil vinaigrette made my salad fantastic. The smoothies were good.

Having been to the mixing bowl numerous time and I have never had a bad experience. The food is prepared fresh to order. Yes there are days where they offer the baked goods at a discount as day old but also charged accordingly. Two thumbs up. Definitely home cooked foods and authentic German dishes

Everything they have is a notch above. They take the ordinary and make it extreme! I could give you a list of everything that it's amazing, but all you need to do to see that is look at the menu. There are some interesting combinations, but trust me, they all work wonderfully! And to top out off, everyone there is super nice and personable. One last note, try brunch some day. The biscuits and gravy are divine. You'll moan through every bite! So take some time and taste and sample their menu. Even if for only a coffee and pastry. You will not be disappointed!

I would give this place a 6 star rating it is SO GOOD! We stopped for lunch before visiting Scott's Bluff national monument. It is by far the best meal we've had on our trip west. See pix of the menu and our meals. The chef artfully composed the ingredients in her sandwiches to make some knockout combinations. I had the turkey and cranberry sauce on a croissant and the best, crispest French fries I have ever had. I never have ketchup on my French fries. I am so glad I tried her homemade ketchup. It was outstanding. Unfortunately for those passing through she doesn't bottle it. Or her delicious salad dressings either. My husband had the CA turkey BLT with a salad--it was excellent! We were stuffed. I couldn't resist getting a cherry kuchen for dessert tonight.

My family and I came here for breakfast while passing through the area to go to Mount Rushmore. I had the biscuits and gravy which were different and delicious. My little sisters had the German pancakes and those were delicious as well. Also the eggs were some of the best I've ever had and the coffee is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Almost forgot the monkey bread with cream cheese is a fairly new top notch sweet treat that goes well with the coffee. Two thumbs up and 5 stars for sure!

Nice staff, great baked goods, amazingly good coffee for western Nebraska. Also, I noticed that a bunch of bicyclers were having brunch there, so thumbs up for being welcoming to the bike crowd!

What a nice hidden gem in Gering! We've been coming to visit family for years and always enjoy the "usual suspects" of restaurants. This year we spotted The Mixing Bowl and decided to stop in for some unique gourmet donuts. We were initially disappointed to learn that there wet NO donuts the day we went there. We were informed that the baker makes different treats everyday. Ok, you've got my attention now. I love variety, especially if it's good. My disappointment quickly dissipated as my eyes and stomach caught sight the HOT cinnamon buns coming fresh out of the oven. Of course we had to take a few of the German favorite #KUGEN! For those who don't know what that is... go try it NOW! (Ok, the suspense is obviously too much to handle. It's an open pastry style baked treat and it's heaven!) One final note, we took out order to go and found out we were missing part of our order after we got home. I called the shop and they promptly offered to DELIVER the missing baked goods to our house. Who does that anymore?? Awesome service and even better food. We will definitely be back to find donuts, cabbage burgers and whatever the treat if the day may be.

The sausage gravy and biscuits were amazing. Bacon and cheese cooked into the biscuit, sausage in the gravy was high quality. Staff very friendly. Will be back to try the poblano burger!
