good things first: nice waiter, nice environment cept the tables are really close so you can hear everything your neighbor is saying. service, pretty good. we went with a restaurant.com coupon from my lovely sister. cheaper food should taste better, since you're not paying as much, right? hmm. wish i was right. we got the spinach and artichoke dip and..though at first it tasted alright--and i enjoyed the big chunks of artichoke, i did not love the very dominant overbearing cream cheese. this was probably also because the dip wasn't creamy enough and mixed together well. the texture was thick and chunky, and way too overwhelmingly creamcheesey. We asked for extra bread to dip into the s&a, but the house bread was about as good as a walmart loaf. not warm, not crusty, just meh. we also had the soups with our entrees. they weren't bad, but not amazing. I had the house minestrone and hubby had the chicken noodle. then the entrees came out, and we were not super impressed. though the portions are MORE THAN ENOUGH, the sodium content was also more than enough. I got the risoto with chicken and hubby got the chicken pesto pasta. I went home, and my tummy was trying to digest it for hours into the night.

Absolutely fantastic. The chicken parmesan is massive and great, the bruchetta is incredible, and the chicken marsalla is the best I have ever had. That says quite a bit, as my grandmother was full-blooded Italian and would cook chicken marsalla monthly. Go early because it fills up, but do yourself a favor and go. It's the best Italian in the Omaha area - hands-down!

My husband and I have been here twice now and have had great experiences both times. The restaurant is small and nicely decorated. The wait staff is friendly and helpful. The food is fantastic!! We will definitely be back!

We have never been here before even though it is very close to our home. We were MORE than IMPRESSED!! Service was Excellent ...THANK YOU ROSS!! Food was amazing! We both enjoyed everything!! I had the portabella and it was Superb. Hubby had a fire roasted pasta with chicken..cant remember the name. We even really enjoyed the Chardonay suggested to us and we are Wine snobs! Very quaint and nice ambiance. We went on a restaurant.com deal and we will be back again..Thank you Bella Vita!!!

Cute little place in Elkhorn. Exposed brick, nice artwork, clean and attentive service. Great outdoor eating area. Wife had the portobello and shrimp - loved it. Daughter had the lasagne- very heavy on the cheese and very little meat in the sauce, down one star. I had the veal picatta- heavily breaded, more like a German schnitzel, lightly sauced and heavy on capers. Breading was soggy as well. Desserts were really good though and the wine selection was decent and reasonably priced. Overall, a decent experience and we'd come back.

My second visit to Bella Vita. First review. Our first visit we sat at the patio in the back. It's such a great spot to enjoy food and wine. This most recent visit it was far too hot to be on the patio. But sitting inside was a nice experience. They did a great job with the decor. Food was very good. I would like to see a little more creativity in the dishes - as they are all rather standard. But I'm sure many appreciate that. The staff is fantastic. It's clear these owners know how to run a restaurant. We will be back again and again.

I have to admit that this was actually better then Olive Garden. A lot less noisy and the Old Town feel of the area was great. My wife and I had the spinach Artichoke dip then breed and a Caesar Salad. Then I had the Sausage and Pepper Pinene. "Excellent" A very small place but well worth the wait to get in. Much better time is early and during the week.

The food was delicious. The service POOR. Our waitress had a angry attitude and she was curt and discourteous all night. It seemed to have started when we asked to have bread served with our wine, before the soup and salad service, which is what she said she preferred to do. We were paranoid about asking for salt and pepper and water after for fear of her angry response. We finally got the bread 40 minutes later. Food came 2+ hours after we sat down. Luckily, we are all close friends who dine together often and mostly forgot about the long waits between getting appetizers, drinks, bread, salads, taking our order and getting our food served. 3 hours in all. Instead we enjoyed each other's company sitting on the outdoor patio on a lovely evening with an occasional train screaming by in the background. I'd give it 2.5 stars. Won't be going back.

We have eaten at Bella Vita in Elkhorn, NE a few times and have yet to be disappointed. The Italian Nachos and Bruschetta Bread appetizers are outstanding! I have had the pork shank for my main dish on two visits. It has great taste and is very filling. Value of price paid is reasonable. The key to this dish is the added Italian beans and cheese surrounding the pork. We have also have the lasagne which was tasty. My daughter really enjoyed their spaghetti and meat balls. Service is always excellent and the atmosphere is comfortable to elegant. The only drawback and this is being very picky, was the noise. It can get a little loud due to the brick walls and cement floor. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that like Italian. Thanks

Just had a wonderful evening at this quaint spot in downtown Elkhorn. Dinner started and was headlined with the Margherita flatbread. Loaded with fresh mozzarella, it was amazing. The salad and minestrone soup were underwhelming. With ample sausage and the perfect blend of flavors, the sausage and pepper penne pasta was good choice for my main entree. Amanda, our server was lots of fun!

This was our second visit and first review as I normally won't write a review after only one visit. Both times, we liked the atmosphere, unfortunately we simply weren't impressed with the food. The first time I had the veal piccata. The lemon overwhelmed the plate and my palate. This time I had the bistecca Bella Vita. I love a rare steak and the chef did cook the steak perfectly. Unfortunately, (yes again using that word), the steak was completely unseasoned and was swimming in what was supposed to be a gorgonzola. There was a lot of parmasian in the gorgonzola. ..not sure there was any gorgonzola at all. Wait staff is friendly, unfortunately the chef just doesn't deliver on the food.

DW and I stopped in for dinner on a Friday evening, and the joint was surprisingly not crowded. Anyway, we were seated immediately (obviously) and attended to right away by our server, who was friendly and professional. We ordered the bruschetta, which was quite tasty. DW ordered their special, which featured two crab cakes over lingiuini with pesto. Very good. I ordered the risotto with shrimp. Everything was very good. This place is very upscale and nice for a quiet dinner. Noticed quite a few folks brought their kids along, so I suppose this place is kid-friendly.

We stopped 2 weeks ago on a Thursday night and the food, service, and atmosphere was amazing. Just a really neat Italian restaurant hiding in a quaint small town. Very neat!!! We will definitely be going back. Bob & Kathy Nilles

My wife and I enjoyed a lovely dinner at Bella Vita last night. We started with an order of bruschetta, which was delightful. Before dinner I had the salad with pears, which also includes very good walnuts and blue cheese crumbles. It's a great way to start a meal. I had the tomato basil soup which was marvelous. My wife's dinner salad was okay, nothing fancy. She ordered the salmon gnocchi, and I had the chicken pepper pesto. Both were very good. Our server, Joshua, was very pleasant, professional, and attentive. The atmosphere there is great, although we are glad we were there on Sunday night, not Valentine's Day. It is a small place, so when it is full, it's not easy to enjoy an intimate dinner. But last night, it was everything we wanted.

Has dinner there last night - chicken marsala was marginal, salmon dish with pasta was marginal at best. Roasted potatoes with chicken marsala were not thoroughly cooked - waitress did not check with us until meal was almost complete and then made no adjustment on the bill. Expensive and marginal and best - we will not be back!

It's too bad the food here isn't very good, because the restaurant looks very nice and service was quick and efficient. My wife and I started with the bruschetta which wasn't awful, but also wasn't very good. The bread was too soft and the flavors were muddled, mostly because of too much balsamic glaze. Next came the soups. The minestrone tasted like canned tomato soup they added farfalle pasta and cut winter veggies too. Fortunately one of two entrees pleased. My wife got the sausage and pepper penne, which was tasty and with just the right amount of heat. My entree, the chicken pesto pasta, was absolutely terrible. Farfalle pasta was smothered in a red pepper Alfredo (no way this sauce can be considered a pesto) that was mostly bland, and tasted like a really bad Mac and Cheese.

Average food, prices a little high and lasagna was a cheese bomb. Nothin else to it really besides a ball of cheese.

  • David M.

Thought the food was great, and came out quick. We had an amazing bruschetta for appetizer and it was beautiful and tasted great. The dinner was all around agreed as great. It was very Italian, and was well presented.

  • Chester V.

This place was terrible. No management or owner present, server overwhelmed with 3 tables and they treated my well behaved kids like they didn't belong. I am sure in the summer on the patio or with a more competent staff this place could do better but and night you open your doors for business you should be ready!

Bella Vita is located in the old part of Elkhorn and does not appear to be an amazing place from the outside (which I like). There are too many restaurants out there that try to put on an image of being modern and high class and the food is nothing more than a microwaved dinner. Bella Vita is the exact opposite. It's a small quaint place with a lot of charm. Even though Bella Vita is small, you don't feel like you are too close to the table next to you. As far as the service goes, I have always enjoyed the personalities of all the employees. There are plenty of options on the menu ranging from traditional Italian dishes to items that broaden your food horizon. The appetizer I prefer is the bruschetta which might be the best I have ever had. The last time I was there I ordered the pork osso bucco which is a braised pork shank with a mushroom marsala wine reduction and was served over a white bean ragout. The portion size was enormous and the taste was amazing. I highly recommend ordering this dish. All the prices are very reasonable too. Bella Vita will make you never want to go to an Olive Garden ever again.

We had the bruschetta and ravioli for appetizers. Both were very good. My wife had the lemon shrimp orzo and I had shrimp risotto. The orzo and risotto were good. Both of our shrimp were burnt and over done. Overall, the food was very good. The service however is the worst we've seen in sometime. Every member of the staff was rude, acted as if we were an inconvenience and when we asked our waitress if we could have a certain table, she rolled her eyes and said she'd have to talk to her mgr first. Needless to say, we didn't get the table. After our meal was complete I asked to speak to the mgr and our waitress said he was not there??? When we go somewhere to eat, we want to feel welcomed. If that's your expectation too, don't go to Bella Vita!!!

We went back there again last night with some friends of ours who hadn't been there before. We had about a 30 minute wait as we didn't call ahead. The interior of the restaurant is quite small but cozy. We waited near the bar prior to getting a table. I will say that business must be very good for the owners of this little place. We all enjoyed our meals. I had the sausage and peppers penne. It came in a tomato sauce with huge slices of sausage. The serving was huge and it was quite good. Two of the others had the chicken parm and they also enjoyed. It was an entire chicken breast so the serving was huge. All-in-all, it was a good time and the service was great.

When you're Elkhorn and love Italian trek on over to this cute Italian restaurant in old Elkhorn. My family and I went to this restaurant the very last night my uncle and auntie were visiting from Hawai'i and all of us decided on Italian. Our party of 8 were seated immediately as they hadn't gotten busy yet for dinner time. The service provided was professional and knowledgable of the menu and wine list. What was really great about going to dinner here on a thursday night is that they have wine bottles for half off!! Of course, we added a bottle to pair with our dinner. I ordered the linguine with artichoke and a salmon fillet. It was a different taste but I liked it a lot! It was a generous portion of dinner and I was definitely able to save the rest for lunch the next morning. We also tried a few appetizers, the bruschetta and the spinach and artichoke dip: yummy! Each were full of flavor and delicious. I also enjoyed the rolls of bread they provided, they were warm, soft, and tasty! Dinner was filling, the atmosphere pleasant, and service was great! Now, a sweet tooth like me I had to save some room for dessert, and the lucky dish was the Tiramisu! It was also a generous portion size and incredibly delicious! The chocolate on top tasted rich and wonderful! I was lucky enough to enjoy this dish on my own and loved every bite :) If you have the time and in you're in the area I highly recommend trying this Italian restaurant, you will love it! And if you enjoy chocolate try the tiramisu!

My husband and I would always come on the buy 1 entree get one 1/2 off night. Without the 1/2 off I would say it's a bit too pricy. The food is great and the service has been wonderful each time we have gone. Highly recommend.

AMAZING! I literally can't think of one thing to complain about. Bruschetta and Minestrone were the best I've had. Lasagna with Italian sausage was an excellent combination and the portions are ridiculous. The service was great as well.

Came for a friends birthday...had a decent size group of 8. The food was decent....not great, but decent. Average at best. I am unsure of the waitress's name (we came in Friday the 17th, sat at a big table in the main dining room and she had dark hair) but she had a terrible attitude and she was quite flip with all of us. I could tell from all the way across the table that it wasn't just us that felt that way...as the look on my friends husbands face told it all. She was rushing around and making us feel very rushed. There appeared to be plenty of staff so it was puzzling why she was so frazzled. She acted as if I was asking to move mountains to have chicken for the meat on their special instead of beef and would not accommodate my friend to have grilled chicken instead of breaded on her meal. Of course when it came time for the check, she perked right up. The Pinot Grigio was eh and we most certainly didn't get the nicest bottle --- however $24 seems steep for the quality. I would think twice about revisiting or being the one to initiate the idea.

Flies, inattentiveness and rudeness on a busy Saturday night. Ok, so it was busy. Isn't that what you wanted? Flies?!? Rudeness?? No matter, we won't return.

We've been wanting to try this place for a couple of years. We've heard a lot of hype in that time. Now that we've tried it, I just don't understand all the reviews. 3 adult diners. We had 2 appetizers, 2 soups and a salad, 4 entrees and it was all just OK. OK like; fazollis or some other low end Italian chain. Nothing was bad, except no one could gag down the mushroom soup and I love mushroom soup. It's just that nothing was really good. The red sauce that was on the raviolis and the lasagna tasted like some cheap stuff out of a jar. The salads need some work. I've had much better minestrone soup from a can. Great little place in a great little town. Great service. Probably would never go back. There are just too many better options in this area.

I was really hoping this place would be better than it was. The atmosphere is great: quaint with a great vibe. The service was quick and friendly. The food, though, is just not good and WAY, WAY overpriced. We had a $25 gift certificate to use but still paid $28 more for 2 meals with no drinks. The soup tasted like canned tomato soup that they added pasta and some cut-up veggies into-yuck. My meal wasn't too bad (penne that was obviously not made-to-order and felt as if it was sitting in a warmed pot for too long and sausage that was actually quite tasty. My husband's meal, however, was aweful (red pepper pesto)! It was NOT a pesto-even red pepper; it was more of a weird alfredo-type sause that tasted like 3 day old generic mac-n-cheese but worse. We ended up throwing it out the minute we left. We won't be back.

It might be because it was Monday night, but both the food and service were fantastic! Met a friend for dinner. We arrived super early for dinner - first ones of the evening. Had a nice glass of wine, and enjoyed the bread, and olive oil/parm. Yes, a nice touch if the bread had been warm, but it was definitely fresh and good. I ordered the portabello mushroom -- a little different than I had expected, but the flavors were fantastic. Side of bow ties. Friend ordered one of the pasta dishes, and it was really good. The menu was very extensive for my tastes -- two sided menu, with so many good choices that it took us a while to narrow it down. No room for dessert after too much celebrating over Thanksgiving. Will be back! Another visit, another time....

My wife and I ate here on a Thursday night and it was full. The restaurant was nice, but very loud and non-intimate, which surprised me for an Italian restaurant. That was fine with us. The servers are very professional and courteous. Service was excellent. The food was good, I ordered the special -pink sauce was very good, had a nice spice to it. My wife ordered the ravioli which sat in the window too long, it was a little cold. The wine selection was good, the cab was good. My biggest complaint would be the menu selection. It was not extensive and did not include some Italian favorites such as Marsala and Carbonara selections. For West Omaha, this place is good; but over all, Los Sole Mio would win, hands down. Service: 10/10 Food: 7/10 Drink Selection: 7.5/10 Value: 6.5/10 Atmosphere: 6.5/10

I really do want to give this 4 stars, but i just can't. We went here the other night thinking it was on the passport card. It wasn't, but hey our mistake. We went with another couple and started off with calamari-okay, i'm not a huge seafood fan, but the table seemed to enjoy it. Unlike most of the reviewers on here, I really did enjoy the bread - esp the olive oil and parmesan cheese part. I wanted to order the fettucini alfredo, but decided this wasn't olive garden, so I should try something special. I ordered the risotto with sausage- blek. Not even good enough to eat, too watery for risotto in my eyes. I seriously considered sending back. My hubby and a friend both got the special - which was a cheese ravioli with shrimp. Theirs was super good and another friend got the chicken parm, which was was huge and fairly tasty. Overall, I'd pry go back, but get something different because I want to like this place and it is so not elkhorn or omaha looking inside.

I was sold after my first visit several months ago. Chicken Parmesan and bruschetta were the best I've had in town. The beef tenderloin kabobs need to get taken off the menu. It could've just been the cut of meat my husband had that night, but not being able to cut with a knife was worthy of sending back. Our waiter noticed right away and brought out lasagna for him as a replacement. He loved the lasagna. The balsamic dressing for the salads is amazing....it's also drizzled over the bruschetta. Our most recent visit we ended up ordering tiramisu....delicious! Even though they don't take reservation this place is worth the wait.

Hmm ... I really wanted to give Bella Vita a better review but I really can't. We arrived on a Wednesday evening with only a 5-10 minute wait around 7 pm. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a glass of wine. When a table opened up we ordered the bruschetta . It arrived looking beautiful. Crisp light bread was topped with pesto, bits of fresh mozzarella and then chopped tomatoes and surprisingly onions (we didn't mind it but it was a little onion-laden) and a thick (and rather strong and bight-y) balsamic drizzle. We both ordered caesar salads, which were ok. Our bread arrived and our server poured little plates of olive oil and fresh grated parm cheese. The bread however was nothing special. It was room temperature, soft and a bit sweet which did not pair well with the "Italian butter." I ordered the Pesce Colla Olive Pomodoro - tilapia marinated in a light vinaigrette, topped with kalamata olives, capers, and tomatoes. It was light and fresh tasting. It was rather disappointing however that there were seemingly only a few kalamata olives, and more of what looked like and tasted like ordinary canned sliced black olives. It was served with pasta (mashed potatoes was another option) ... simple bow-tie pasta with just a hint of seasoning, a touch of oil and a nice hint of lemon. But for $15 I was just not impressed. Dear husband ordered the Puttanesca Arrabbiata with a side of meatballs. The meatballs were forgotten, but did arrive quickly, however they were cold. The unmelted cheese that topped it was our first clue. Meatballs, set aside (to be warmed up for todays lunch) his pasta was just ok. Despite the cute location, the friendly wait staff and overall nice ambiance, I cannot look past the food. Sorry to say it was just ordinary.

Like most of the previous reviewers, I wanted to give this restaurant more stars. Unfortunately, the excellent service and atmosphere do not make up for the average food. We visited on a Sunday evening. I was searching for a comfort dish and chose the spaghetti and meatballs. I liked the sauce and thought the pasta was cooked well. However, the two large meatballs, which I would generally view as the focal point of a simple dish, did not appear to be homemade. The meat was very dense and gray, which gave off a processed feel to the dish. For $15, I would expect more. On the other hand, my date said she really enjoyed her chicken pesto pasta. We both had glasses of wine and enjoyed the overall selection. I would consider going back and trying something else.

We tried Bella Vita on a recommendation from a family member. We ordered calamari to start and when we got it, it was terribly bland and tasted like it was out of a bag. I never do this, but we sent the dish back. The waiter said they checked the bag and it was not freezer burned...just what I thought, it was out of a bag and put right into the fryer. The manager/owner came out and apologized saying that he tasted it and it was bad - overcooked. He asked if we wanted to try a new order and we declined. The problem wasn't just that it was overcooked, it was the awful frozen taste that had turned me off to it. The bread we had before the meal was fine. When we got our entrees, the taste was just lacking. Both dishes were fairly bland and boring. I ordered a chicken dish and my husband ordered fish. I won't be going back which is too bad because I really liked the atmosphere and the service.

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
